The Omnissiah, how glorious is he? The god that is all, master of machines, creator of the universe. All things were set in motion by him, and all things will end when he commands it. Until then, there is not to do but worship him. But some... some have erred. This on the red planet worship a corpse on a golden throne as the avatar of the Omnissiah, or else worship a mechanical beast trapped below red dust as the Omnissiah. Both are wrong. There are some more enlightened, however. The Imperium calls them traitors and heretics, worshippers of false and dark gods. Well, you know that their gods are false. They are not true gods, merely aspects of the Omnissiah's perfect being. Those that worship but a single one are blind.

Welcome to Skitarii Quest Episode 5: The Inquisition Strikes Back!

Just in case you don't know, the objective with dice rolls in to roll under our attributes, with modifiers given based on the difficulty of the situation. A 1 is a critical success, a 100 is a critical failure. I usually wait for about three different people to give rolls unless there's not a lot of activity. Anyways, onto the quest!

You were once known as Ranger 101, a skitarii from the legions commanded by the tech priests, but you have moved above that. You are the Herald of the True Omnissiah, and the galaxy will hear your word. The man writing on the ground before you, clutching the stump that was once his arm, refused to understand. He claimed Khorne to be a god greater than the Omnissiah, when Khorne is in fact merely an aspect of the Omnissiah. His sister had taken to the Omnissiah much better, going so far as to becoming the first of the Omnissiah's metallic angels. But this one? He refused to embrace the Omnissiah, and now you must decide what to do with him.

>[1] Kill the bastard already. He is a useless wretch.

You grasp his head in your hand. "You will worship the Omnissiah!" You shout, thrusting your mind into his.

His mindscape is a mess, marred by insecurities before chaos, and marred by blood and battle after. You rip away most of the blood and jam bionics in its place. You rip away loyalties to Khorne, and force in loyalties to the Omnissiah. He will be a servant of the Omnsiiah!

A few minutes later, you back out of his mind. He is mumbling praises to the machine god now, though you fear you may have damaged some of his mental faculties. Damn.

You sigh. It's been a long day, and you are hurting bad. You consider calling off the PDF base attack so you can recover.

You look yourself over, and decide that you are not currently fit for combat, however, this needs to be done before the defense guns can be put online. You decide that the raid will happen, but that you're going to sit it out. Elisibeth can be the on the ground leader along side other forces. However, you decide they won't be doing it alone, and that summoning deamons to assist is a good idea.

You find Elizabeth giving a sermon about the values of invention and drive to a group of servants, her metallic wings shining in the early morning sun. "Elizabeth, the raid will begin soon. You will be in command. I will stay here and summon daemons for your assistance."

She beams at you "Thank you my lord! I will do you proud! Do you require any sacrifices for your summonings?"

"It would help, yes." With that, Elizabeth points out several cultists in the crowd. Some of them scream and try to run, only to be tackled by their fellows, while some cry tears of joy, blissfully happy to give their lives to the Omnissiah. You nod, and have them brought along with you to the training field, where Ophen's knight still stands above pools of old and drying blood. Before you begin, you pull out your voxcaster and contact Medusa. You need to know if it's safe to land your troops on your ship or if they'd be shot down by the Gloria Vulkanus.

"What do you need 101?"

"What is your status on control of the Vulkanus? Could we land troops at the PDF base?"

"Currently, no. My cult is spreading, and I've ensnared a few high ranking officers, but not enough to get them to ignore a small salvo of drop pods."

"We have drop pods?"

"Indeed. That weird machine spirit that runs the factorum on the ship made them. We have drop pods for both the marines and the skitarii."

"So no potential for taking our droops down here?"

"I didn't say that. I could stage a mutiny, but that might not work out and they'd probably be able to trace it back to me. I could also just go back to our ship and remotely detonate the bomb I put on their warp core. We'd have no problem then."

>[1] Tell her to do as she's been doing. There will be no troops from orbit this day.

You breathe in deeply, and your assistants kill the sacrifices. their blood pools into a circle without any help from the geometry of the ground it pools on. The blood knows its purpose.

You pour in power, seeking to lure the daemons into the materium, but nothing comes. You make the bait bigger, pouring more power into it. Frustrated, you pour in more power. More Power, more power, more power, more power.

You pour your power into ritual. You will not be ignored! And then, it's all spent. You fall to your knees, exhausted. Nothing, nothing happens.

Then, the warp explodes around you. Your sense are overlord, your limbs spasm, you fall into unconsciousness.

You are shaken awake. You open your eyes to see the angelic and half metallic face of Elizabeth. She helps you stand, and you look around. Where you were intending to summon daemons rests the massive and rotting corpse of some amalgamation of metal in flesh, some unformed creature, wrongly birthed into the world.

"Are you okay my lord?" Elizabeth asks.

"I am tired but fine. What is that thing?"

"I do not know my lord, it was here when I found you. We won my lord, the PDF base fell to our righteous crusade. We have taken and blessed their armaments. Many have been converted to the Omnissiah's light. Within a week we will have control of the planet. Within a month, all will know of the true god."

You are barely listening. You watch as the dead creature quickly rots away, its metallic parts becoming rust and drifting away. By the time that your angel has finished her report, it is completely gone.

>[1] Now is the time to rest on our laurels. We have won this plane. Spread the powers of chaos among the populace, start industrializing the planet.

"Elizabeth, they will indeed. Karax III will be known as where it all began. We will build great factorums that will double as houses of worship. The smoke of forges will blacken the sky. Every being on this planet will bear the Omnissiah's mechanical gifts, perfectly melded to their flesh. Karax III will grow to eclipse Mars in our most holy technology, this I will decree. This planet will be the home of the True Mechanicus."

"That is wonderful my lord."

"Indeed. Gather the best and brightest the planet has to offer; we must begin construction as soon as possible. When Medusa has secured the Gloria Vulkanus, construction will increase ten-fold."

You retire to the manor to rest, heal, and later construct, while unbeknownst to you, an astropathic message arrives at a hidden facility hidden amongst the empty mines of Karax I...

-------------

"And you're sure of this?" An authority voice asks, heavily distorted.

"Yes my lord. We were not able to get a sample off world, but Interrogator Felark was able to test the water. It reacted corrosively to blessed materials. Not only that, but a few hours ago, there was a massive burst of foul warp energy near where Felark sent his last transmission. I fear the worst."

"And I fear that what you believe is true. I will be traveling to the system personally with a small but elite force. If it is naught but a small threat, we will quash it easily and move on. If it is worse, we will be able to fight them long enough for a larger force to arrive. Glory to the God Emperor."

"Glory to the God Emperor!" The communications cease. "Oh Emperor, I hope the Inquisitor doesn't need to call Exterminatus on the planet. Let's hope warp travel's nice and easy..."

------------------------

It has been three weeks since the fall of the PDF base, and the planet is yours. Pockets of resistance still remain, but those that do have been infiltrated by Kall's gene stealers and will soon fall. Medusa took the Gloria Vulkanus as her own, and your forces landed. Medusa currently speaks with you on what used to be the Malveria estate, but is now the future site of a grand cathedral-factorum.

"So then, about that Tau woman. I've finished a few prototype voice boxes. Well, I didn't. I got Cassi to do it. That Navigator learns so fast. But yeah, one is a pretty normal thing, it has a little chaos in it, but so does everything we make. Another is actually based on a sonic blaster. I call it the Siren's Song. And the third isn't really a voice box, it's just an augment filled with as much energy we could put into a physical object before it can explode. Which should we give to her?" Medusa pulls out her data slate. "And also, how should we focus our first round of production? I mean, everything's being worked on, but it'd probably be a good idea to have one project as a priority."

You go in search of your sorcerer. You find him in that was once the Malveria library. Books of family records, of the planet's history, log journals of the original colonists, have been warped into books on daemons, about daemon summoning, about creating machines. They have been turned into books that heave and breathe, books that bite. The sorcerer is reading through one that he has used strong chains to force open.

"Ah, my lord. Is not the power of Chaos wonderful? These once useless and books, rarely read, have become tomes of knowledge about the immaterial."

"Why have you asked for me?" You say, crossing your arms.

"Ah yes. My lord, you are a powerful psyker, or at least have the potential to be one. However, you are untrained. The perils of the warp hover about you. You must receive training. I can do so."

"Good choice my lord. You will not regret expanding your area of expertise. We will need to craft you charms, a staff, many things are needed to make a proper sorcerer out of you. Let us start with a lesson in patience and meditation. We will sit here, doing noting, simply observing the eddies in the warp until we understand it better."

You break your concentration and run off to find the source of the scream. The sorcerer lets out an annoyed grunt as you leave. You find the source as Medusa's workshop. You see Medusa pointing her laspistol at the tau woman, who is screaming and clawing at her neck. "It hurts! It hurts! Bring me my suit! I need my suit! AHHHHHHHHHH!" You take a peek at her psychically. Around her is a maelstrom of warp energy.

"Medusa, what did you do!"

"Exactly what you told me to do! When she woke up she just started screaming!"

You keep a steady eye on the tau woman, Shaso or something, you think her name was. "Medusa, fetch her her battle suit. I wish to watch this."

Medusa nervously nods and leaves. You watch the tau woman closely. She claws at her throat and breathes heavily. Her movements are erratic, her eyes discolored. Possible chaos corruption. Good.

Medusa returns a few minutes later, servitors dragging the tau's battle suit, which she commands the servitors to bring over to the tau. The tau looks over the battle suit and nearly rips the platings which open to reveal her seat off. She climbs inside and the plates close behind her. The battle suit shudders to life and then stands as if unsure. It then suddenly spasms as warp energy drives its way into it. The machinery bulges and warps. The paint is peeled off and the metal dyed a dark black, shifting to a bright red, and then chaotically shifting through the entire rainbow. The suit's head, actually just a mounted sensor array that just so happens to look like a head, splits down is center, the upper half rising above the lower half as if on a hinge. Sharp protrusion emerge from both halves, and then a fleshy and tentacle-like tongue.

The suit's limbs become more flesh out, becoming less of mounts for weapons and more like bestial arms, ending in mounted weapons fused into the palms of clawed hands. The new head grows eyes on it, and the entrance to the suit is sealed by a chaos cog symbol growing over it. The creature leans back its head and lets out a beastly screech, triumphant.

"Yes.... I have been blessed by the Omnissiah... given a perfect form suited to war in battle... I will teach them of the greater good... teach them that the Ethereals are false prophets." The new creature snarls.

"So then," you say "Have you seen the light, xenos?"

The creature runs its tongue over ints new teeth "I have indeed. And my name is not xenos. It used to be Shas'O Tenor Vahera. Now? Now I will go by Te'Hara."

"What do you intend to do now then?"

"Soon, I will convert my subordinate. Then, we will serve you, for you are the herald of our true god. After, we will travel to the Tau Empire. All in the Fire Caste will be made to see the light. All in the Earth Caste will converted into forms that suit them, as will the Air and Water Castes. You go off to find Medusa. You have not had a good talk with her in awhile. You find her in her new workshop, fiddling with a set of phosphor blasters you recognize as coming from B33p-800P, your Kastellan Robot. "Ah, 101, I'm just working on your robot's weapon's. I have a bit of tech I scavenged that I think I can improve it. What were you looking for?"

"We haven't talked much for awhile. What is happening in your world?"

She puts down her tools. "Well, a few weeks ago, I was living in a space hulk, alone, and had just managed to pull in a good haul of scavenged technology from a mechanicus ship that had warped halfway into the hulk and broken in half. Now, I'm part of something akin to a black crusade, building up a grand cathedral to the Omnissiah. A lot has been happening."

"Well, viewing it from that perspective, I assume it would be quite overwhelming."

"I took over an entire battleship! I worked my way up from idiot technicians to convincing the god damned captain to giving up his soul! I couldn't even picture myself doing that a week ago! Things have moved so fast... Now you have your own followers, you made a girl into an beautiful mechanical angel... What am I to you 101?"

"What do you mean?"

"I started out giving you commands, then we went together onto the ship, then you came down here and you started leading. What am I to you?"

You lean in close to Medusa "You are the most trusted and close of all the people I have come to know Medusa. There is nobody that knows me better, and nobody I would trust my life to other than you." You kiss her. She kisses back. You both spend the rest of the night with pleasure and sweet chaotic love.

It is later now, in the afterglow. Medusa turns to you. "I haven't augmented myself in quite awhile. I've been thinking its around time to add something new. What do you think?"

"Yes. The power of the warp is truly wonderful. You must take care, however, the daemons of the inbounds aspects are fickle and dangerous. Mental foritude will be required to surivive, and I do not want to lose you."

She gives you a quick peck on the check. "Thank you 101, that really means a lot. I need to go and gather materials." She gets up and throws on her robes. Whoever had helped to first augment her, they had really made sure her augments accented her beauty.

Medusa drifts off into unconsciousness, and you gather warp power into yourself, and then channel it into her; a lure for a daemon of Khorne. In the energy is feelings of battle, of bloodlust, of death. You let out a trail of it into the immaterial, floating it towards the realm of the blood god aspect. You feel a sudden tug, a daemon taking the bait. The daemon roars past you, and as it does you realize you have made a mistake: you have poured far too much power into the lure, and as the daemon disappears into Medusa's body it it taking the line of energy with it, draining away from you. You pull back, but are unable to hold on as a piece of you it taken away(-1 wp).

Suddenly, the line of energy stops unwinding hard, and the force of the immaterial acceleration drags you forward with great speed, causing you to smash your head against the altar you have set Medusa on(-2 wounds). The sorcerer sighs as you drift off into unconsciousness.

--------------------------

You wake some time later in a bed, what you recognize as the master bedroom, formerly occupied by the old lord, now occupied by you. Your head is pounding. You stand and dress yourself. As you are making your way to the door, the ground suddenly trembles. A few seconds later, a cultists burst through the door. "Lord Herald! The Imperials have come!"

"What are you talking about?"

"Two ships arrived in the system while you were unconscious, and then went into orbit on the opposite side of the planet from the Vult and Vulkanus. They landed several troops at the water processing plant, including space marines in silver armor! They're currently holed up in there."

You growl in frustration "Where is Medusa?" You ask.

"The mistress is still asleep after her, um, infusion. The sorcerer said she's fine, and just needs rest. What are your orders, my lord?"

"Fetch my advisors. Thus issue requires planning." The cultist nods and hurries off. you gather your things, and half an hour later are seated in the dining room alongside your sorcerer, Elizabeth, a hologram of Cassian that they're beaming down from the Omnissiah Vult(Cassian is now sporting a very good looking bionic eye now. It seems their training is going well), the former tau Te'Hara, the genestealer Kall, and skitarii Alpha-001, commander of both your skitarii forces and the PDF that is currently in the process of becoming part of the former.

"This is a dire situation my friends. The Imperium has taken control of the water treatment plant. Not only it is a beautiful perfection of purpose and machinery, but it also supplies the vast majority of the planet's water, as well as being the primary vector of enlightenment. Should the flow of blessed water cease, the populace will become indoctrinated to the imperial cult once again and turn against us. We require solutions; suggest them."

Cassian pipes up "We could also destroy it from orbit. We have a lot of firepower on our ships, and essentially total control of local space. The enemy's ships are constantly fleeing from us."

The sorcerer grunts "While that would kill the enemy, it would also destroy the plant, you idiot. We need it to keep our hold on this planet until it is fully ours. I personally suggest that we reverse the flow at one of the secondary pumps and fill it with as much warp energy as we can. The machinery at the plant would be further corrupted and would likely become animated enough to cause the invaders to flee into our waiting gunfire. I do admit that this would likely damage parts of the plant, though they could be rebuilt."

"We could stage a tactical assault from many angels," A-001 intones. "Skitarii foot soldiers staging a frontal assault, marines using drop pods, genestealers attacking from the sides."

"No, we must show these unbelievers of the Omnissiah's light. If we can convert these heathens to the light, then we will become unstoppable. We will shower upon them the energies of the warp, show them the blood of true believers, show them the truth of the Omnissiah's children."

You decide on having the sorcerer further flood the planet's water with warp energy, meanwhile, you and Elizabeth will attempt convince or "convince", also known as forcefully making them see the truth they have blinded themselves to with false faith, the inquisitorial forces.

"For the record, I'm against trying to convert them. They're the Inquisition. When they send an army, they tend to send an incorruptible one. But you're the boss," the sorcerer complains. "I'll get started on my preparations."

Elizabeth turns to you, excited. "I am so glad you've chosen my plan herald! So, how are we going to go about this? I leave it up to you, my lord."

You decide that you will go in with a small amount of forces, disguised as guardsmen/PDF soldiers. You gather up as many skitarii as you can who are the least augmented, which proves to be just the right amount, as it appears. You dress them up in the uniforms which you have luckily not recycled yet, and hand each a regulation lasgun. You dress yourself as their commander, weaving an illusion over yourself to appear human aside from a bionic eye, while you disguise Elizabeth as the medic, also weaving an illusion over her. With your forces properly disguised, you set off towards the water treatment facility.

You arrive at the entrance several hours later. The command of "Halt!" rings through the air as several stormtroopers come out of hiding and point their upgraded lasguns at your forces. "You have ten seconds to explain your presence before we open fire on you!"

"I am the first commander of the Karax PDF force! A week ago, our base was attacked by unknown assailants. We were able to retreat the carnage, and since you were occupying our most vital infrastructure, I assumed that you were the same force that attacked us!" You shout, sounding as much like a promoted drill sergeant as possible. The stormtroopers glare at your forces. One pulls out a voxcaster and begins speaking into it. Unnoticed, you are able to listen in to to your psychic powers.

"A group of men claiming to be the remnants of the PDF have just arrived, sir. What are your orders?"

"Are there any visible mutations?"

"There are not, sir. They appear to be properly uniformed, if a bit ragged from spending a few days in the wilderness. Their story about their base getting raided checks out, however."

"Hmm... with what the water is right now, it's not enough to have caused anyone to fall on its own, not truly; it's too weak, merely a catalyst to allow a push to come easier. Take them in, place them into a pseudo quarantine. We will study them for signs of corruption. If they are pure, we may be able to spare this planet exterminatus."

"Understood," the stormtrooper hangs up and activates the bullhorn on his helmet. "Alright then, Inquisitor Valker has decided to allow you access into our temporary base of operations. We have discovered worrying elements on your planet, and are investigating currently. For this reason, you will be quarantined from the rest of our forces until we can determine your purity!"

"We are the purest damn soldiers this side of Holy Terra!" You shout.

As the stormtroopers make ready to escort you, you strike, manifesting tendrils of warp energy and impaling each of the inquisitorial soldiers. They stumble, crumple, and clutch their chests and heads in pain, the power of the warp coursing through them. Two of the stormtroopers expand, their flesh bulging and warping, spikes and horns and limbs bulging out at random angles, their minds descending into a simplistic madness as they become chaos spawn, quickly eating a few stormtroopers who had begun to fight off the corruption.

A group of other stormtroopers rip off their their armor and, using sharpened fingers and combat knives, carve either the star of chaos or the chaos cog into their chests. These converts then pounce on a group that had been fighting the corruption, some ripping into them while others violently and passionately kiss the unconverted, forcing more corruption into their beings.

One of the stormtroopers who had been bearing a larger amount of cybernetics than his fellows spasms, his cybernetics growing out of him and divining back in, his bionic eye growing over his face as his warping body eats his lasgun. Wings of twisted metal and bone sprout from his back as he screams, his engorged cybernetic eye overtaking his face and letting a beam of energy out into the sky. He collapses to his knees as the chaos cog burns into his chest, muttering praises to the Omnissiah and his herald.

It seems you have got them all, and you don't believe that any were able to use their voxcaster for help. It unfortunate that a few became chaos spawn, and some others are too mutated to pass for themselves anymore, but you've dealt with them at least.

Choosing the select stormtroopers who can still pass for normal, as well as a few of your own skitarii who have done well with infiltration, you cast the necessary illusions over them and shoo your new chaos spawn into the shadows, and lead your troops disguised as PDF soldiers into the facility, arriving a few minutes later into the inquisitorial camp, where you are confronted by a cloaked man flanked by two massive space marines in silvery armor.

"Ah, captain, I see you have returned with the PDF forces. I believe I ordered you to quarantine them?"

"Sir. I distinctly remember that your order was to take them to our camp."

"I said no such thing," the man strokes his chin. "It may be possible the enemy is interfering with our communications." He glares directly at you. "Commander, after you have your men situated, you are to report to me for interrogation." The man turns and walks away, the space marines following. As he leaves, you can hear him say "Watch those stormtroopers."

As you lead your troops to a large storeroom to hunker down in, you receive a psychic signal, a barely perceptible ping, ever so slightly different from the background noise of the warp. The sorcerer has completed the task, and the tainted waters are ready to flow at your command, at which point the pipes and machinery, even the water itself, will animate and attack those who do not worship the omnissiah or chaos.

Okay, it seems the decision is to set off the water trap while you talk to the inquisitor. Writing.

You return a specific series of pings to your sorcerer. He knows when to activate the water. You make your way to the inquisitor. Along the way, it appears that you acquire a pair of grey armored astartes escorts. They usher you into the inquisitor's office, a former storage room. The marines station themselves on either side of the door, and allow you in.

The inquisitor sits at a makeshift desk, looking over a collection of documents. His face is still hidden beneath his hood. He gestures you to sit, which you do, and removes the hood, revealing a sharp face with a long nose, a large burn on the far right side of his face.

"Commander, this planet has been tainted by the forces of Chaos. You of course do not know of the dangers of chaos. A foolish practice of course, keeping the populace ignorant of their greatest threat, but it has its reasons. However, the taint is only skin deep. With selective purging and an occupation by the Ecclisiarchy, this planet could be safely returned from the fold. However commander, you are not what you say you are. What are you then?"

I see 101 as a fervent worshipper of the omnissiah and everything he does is in aid of making his religion grow. This explains some of the character actions such as making elizabeth as a herald to spread the faith and eating the inquisitor as 101 sees him as a herald of atheism and all the mechanicus hates. It also explains why we aren't full chaos as we care for medusa and actual humans where a full chaos man would either corrupt or kill everything.

The entire facility rumbles as corrupted water is pumped in. Metal groans, and you hear pipes burst. Screaming can be heard from some ways away. "Dear inquisitor, you are correct. I am not a commander of the planet's PDF, I am the Herald of the Omnissiah, ruler of this planet. And you? You are meat!" You lunge forward before the inquisitor has time to draw his gun, knocking him to the floor, dispelling your illusion, and opening the consuming maw that rests on your gut. The biomechancial tongue lashes out and wraps its way around the inquisitor before dragging him inside. The inquisitor screams as he is drawn in and consumed, his last breath used to mutter a feeble prayer to the Emperor. Your maw slams shut, and you rub your belly.

But then, you are hit by a wave of cramps. Damn! Did the inquisitor have a grenade on him? No, wait... this is not the pain of death; this pain is similar to that of gaining a new cybernetic part or power. You shudder as your armor and skin shimmers and seems to turn inside out, as your form compresses and as your cloak shifts color. A rush of faint memories enters your mind. The inquisitor's name was Farfel, he was born on Terra, his access code is 8X45-YHn62.686.

The tremors within you stop, giving a chance to look over yourself. You appear to be an exact copy of Inquisitor Farfel of the Ordo Malleus, and posses the necessary knowledge to impersonate him and to accesses his locked up secrets. You somehow know that you could throw off this disguise in an instant, but by doing that you would loose the ability to take on his form.

This is a perfect opportunity to get aboard the inquisitor's ship. You burst from the inquisitor's office an run towards where you know he had set up a teleportation device for a quick retreat. As you run, you see inquisitorial forces get wrapped up and eaten by animated cables, see their bodies stuffed and warped by animated tendrils of water, and see some become corrupted and enlightened as their forms are baptized with the waters. As you make your way to the teleporter, you pick up the corrupted stormtroopers from earlier as tagalongs, as well as, unfortunately, two grey knights.

You soon reach the teleportation pad. "Inquisitor! We are leaving too soon! Our battle brother's are still fighting, and we have yet to arm the sacred bomb!" One of the grey knights shouts.

"Acolyte, I have dire news. There are traitors and heretics on board this vessel. They have a hand in all of this, scheming worshippers of Tzneetch as they are. The most dire part is that the list of those still loyal may fit on a single page, while those of vile nature compose nearly all crewmen and most of my acolytes. You, I know you are loyal, as are the men behind me. We must locate those I know to be loyal on this ship, secure vital systems, and ultimately purge all heresy from the vessel. You decide to make your way to the life support systems. As you move through the halls, you randomly pick a few people you pass as "loyalists" and execute the rest as "traitors". You encounter little resistance, and why would you? You wear the face on an inquisitor; few can question your orders right now.

You enter into the life support chambers and execute the attending tech priest. Though you would have preferred to convert one who was so close yet so far from the Omnissiah's teachings, it would have taken time you simply do not possess, and he would have realized what you were doing.

A psychic pain briefly travels across your brain: the grey knights have detonated their bomb in the water treatment facility. The facility is a crater now. Damn, the blessed waters were one of the main things keeping the population of Karax III complacent. You will need to speed up evangelizing and converting when you return. But that's later, now you have to decide what to do with the life support systems.

You jam your hand into the life support machine and being to pump warp energy through it. The machine spirit within almost instantly converts, welcoming the true blessings onto itself and allowing the chaotic particles to drift through the ventilation system. It lets out a blast of those particles right into your own room, actually.

The acolytes and crewmen you had collected along the way nearly all fall to the ground writhing. A several of them twist and warp, losing their minds and bodies and becoming chaos spawn. A few more shudder as daemons enter into their empty shells, possessing their bodies and warping their forms. One simply explodes in a shower of gore. One is able to kill himself before the blessings take hold. Depressingly few of them drop to their knees shouting "Hail the Omnissiah!" or even something for one of the aspects. All in all, it seems only 20% of the people with you, not counting yours already corrupted stormtroopers, converted, while the rest were warped into chaos spawn or possessed.

Damn, you must have mixed up how much power to use. Still, the ship will essentially be yours within the next hour, if a little filled with rampaging chaos spawn and possessed.

You leave the life support and make your way to there bridge, breathing in air laced with the blessings of the Omnissiah. Mmmm... you need to get some of this in an incense later. As You make your way through the ship, you hear the sounds of those who resisted the blessings of the Omnissiah as those that did not devour them. Some converts fall in line behind you; even disguised, the faithful can recognize their herald. A tech priest runs circles around you, shouting "I have seen the light! The Omnissiah resides deep within the warp! Soon he will arise and all shall know and fear and worship him!" It feels good to have taken a lost lamb into the fold. You arrive at the bridge, and as you are about to enter, you are hit by a premonition that causes you to dive to the side as bolter rounds rip through the door and mow down the new worshipers behind you.

The door opens, and you can see two grey knight's and the ship's navigator, a squat man with a toad-like visage, his third eye almost completely concealed by a roll of fat. "Foul heretic! You take the skin of a loyal servant of the Emperor and use it to spread Chaos upon the unsuspecting! Repent now, and we will grant you a quick death!"

You open fire upon the distracted grey knight, laying fire from a boltgun you acquired earlier into his back. The knight gasps in pain, and the nugrle daemon pounces on him, ripping his weapon away and rusting his armor while he is at it. The daemon rips the knight's arm off and shoves the man into his massive smiling max, making a comical "gulp" noise before waddling over to the downed knight and kicking away his bolter before putting his foot on the marine's chest, pinning him to the floor with his immense weight.

"Ah... Herald of the Omnissiah, right? It's nice to meet you. You've barely interacted with Papa's children."

The daemon looks at the grey knight he's standing on "Are you going to eat this guy? I heard you do that. I'd do it myself, but," he pats his gurgling guy "I'm a bit stuffed right now."

"Okay then. Should I stay here?"

"Do as you please. You are free to consume any crew who wander in here, think of it as a gift." The plague daemon nods, its rolls of glistening fat rolling as it does.

You leave and make your way to the Inquisitor's vaults, passing by people ecstatic to be new worshippers of chaos and people who have become chaos spawn or possessed. You soon stand before the vault door, which you open with a voice command an the knowledge of the proper phrase, stepping inside.

Let's see... searching the memories you obtained from the inquisitor, you fail to find the exact contents of each part of the vault. Pieces jump out, for sure, but you do not have a full list, and you fear that it will not be written down anywhere. Damn, you'll need to either do a more thorough search or else stick to the gems.

i have the feeling whatever we do will be our last interaction with the vault. Lets make sure we aren't missing anything. Otherwise just loot the shit out of everything.
>>
You make your way over to the archaeotech, looking over the weapons mounted on the wall. Let's see...

There's a pistol known as "The Denier of Existence", which appears to create rifts into the warp when fired, sucking the impact point and anything near the impact point into the warp, according to a plaque next to the gun. It also warns that past owners have been sucked into the warp when the gun has misfired.

There is a thin bladed sword identified as "The Splitter of Argash". According to a plaque, the weapon is able to cut through ceramite and bypass forcefields, and that there appears to be a mystical element to the weapon, as it grows stronger with each being slain.

Then there is a suit of power armor identified as "The Mantle of the Everlasting", which incorporates both a refractor field and also synthesizes some sort of combat drug which is able to quickly and miraculously heal wounds.

Hmm... all of these items seem very useful. But for some reason, taking all of them seems like a bad idea. For one, why was the inquisitor not using all of these himself? The pistol you can understand, and its possible he believed the sword to be some sort of warp artifact, but the armor? Interesting.

You throw off the disguise, your body expanding to its true size, larger than a normal human due to eating several daemons and a set of terminator armor. Now, you open your lower maw to consume three pieces of ancient technology. You take each piece in and gobble it up, feeling your blessed mechanical body work on overtime to assimilate them into your very being.

You feel the Denier of Existence travel its way into one of your mechadendrites, the one which formed from the daemon of Tzneetch. You feel as though it has been stabilized, and can now be fired safely but weaker, or powerful but dangerous.(Do to its dangerous nature(enough failures on firing it can kill you), dangerous mode can only be used by using the "Write in" option)

You feel the Splitter disappear within you, and are momentarily confused. You c could've sworn you were going to incorporate it into your being. Then, you feel a weight in your hand, and turn your head to see the Splitter resting in your grip. You let go of it, and it disappears. You think about it, and it appears in your hand. Neat.(ws + 2)

Not of physical pain, but of a supernatural pain, arcing its way throughout your body, sending rivets of hot lead down all your bones(-3 wounds). Well... shit. You actually don't know where the things in the vault are anymore since you threw off the inquisitor disguise, and you're not getting that back. Should you look for something now, or just head back to the bridge?

You decide to leave the vault, for now. If you later secure the ship, you can loot it later. You make your way back to the bridge. The ship's layout seems to have changed, everything tinged slightly darker, its material becoming warped by Chaos. The chaotic happenings on the ship seem to have stabilized themselves. The week and uncorrupted have been weeded out, those who are still sentient have chained or killed the chaos spawn, and most have become dedicated to one of the Omnsiiah's aspects. A few have seen the full truth and now worship the full Omnissiah, and these ones seem to instinctively flock to you.

You arrive in the bridge, which has notably decayed since when you left it. The daemon has grown full and bloated, and is now attended by a group of nearly zombified cultists.

"Ah... Herald, you have returned! What do you wish to do? Papa Nurgle is always inviting."

"I wish you as an ally, daemon."

"Can do!" It holds out its hand. You tentatively shake it. It's slimy. "So, what do you want me to do first? I've got zombies, plagues, p-"

The daemon is interrupted by the ship being impacted by something and rocking heavily. You rush over to a display, and wiping a thin film of grease that has formed over it, see that the grey knight ship has begun to open fire on your ship.

Damn. None of this ship's crew are actually doing their jobs! You're defenseless!

You quickly interface with the grimy panel and begin forcing the ship's systems into action. It is possible to control the ship entirely from the bridge, it is just difficult as it requires getting all the machine spirits to work together. You persevere and manage to get them all talking together. The spirits that control the steering point you towards the grey knight ship, the shields working overtime to resist the barrage. You coax the engine spirit into moving. It does not. You try to appease it. It metaphorically crosses its arms and shakes its head. You yell at it, and the spirit breaks down crying, finally activating the engine. It might have done a bit too much power as you rocket towards to grey knights. Grabbing the intercom and shouting "All to battle stations!" into it before your ship impact the other, sending you flying across the room, the plague daemons worshippers being sent along with you and having their bones broken by the impact. You are made of sturdier stuff than them.

Stumbling off the wall, you look around, peeking at the sparking display. It seems you're about halfway wedged into the grey knight ship. And also your orbit is decaying. Damn.

The daemon looks around nervously "What're we gonna do?"

>>
"We are going to attack the Grey Knights on their own ship, my deamon ally! Charge!" You make your way out of the bridge and towards where the ships have intersected, the daemon lumbering behind you.

You arrive at a scene of carnage, half mad cultists and mad chaos spawn charging into the elite guns of the Grey Knights, the elite anti-daemon soldiers of the imperium falling to a mass of your servants. You are about to join in, but it seems your mere presence has bolstered the chaos side and allowed them to overcome the astartes.

"Daemon, we need to stitch these ships back together or they will crash into the planet. You will have to fuse your essence into the ships. Will you do this?"

"Sure!" The daemon says happily. Revolting and foul power beings to pool around him. You draw the mechanical energies of the Omnissiah into yourself, and pour them into the ships that are crunched together. Your power and the daemons meet in the middle and begin to worm together and spread out through the ship. The daemon next to you begins to melt into a disgusting slurry, giving up his physical form to inhabit the ships. You make the metallic corridors of the combined ships meld together. Wire connects with wire, pipe with pipe. You WILL make these two ships into one ship. All is going well, until the creeping tendrils of the daemon absentmindedly wander over to you and into your body.

You spasm, collapse, and barley hold back vomit and the vile essence infiltrates into you from the same hole to created to pour power out of. Dear Omnissiah, it's horrible. You feel sick. You would be sweating bullets if your sweat glands worked. You begin to violently cough, and the mixed streams of power flow in and out of you, spasming randomly through the ships, activating and deactivating systems. You can vaguely feel the engines on the Inquisitor's ship fire up. The beginnings of dread appear in your chest, because the last you checked, the engines will take you to the planet's surface. This dread is unfortunately placed by a massive piece of puss like warp energy shooting into you.

Oh dear Omnissiah, that's the daemon's heart. You vomit heavily, it is the most foul thing you have ever encountered. You try to void yourself of all things, but the damn glob of filth sticks fast. Omnissiah, you were eventually meaning to eat the daemon or something like it, but this is like if you had taken it its entire rotting mass through your actual human mouth instead of the magical maw that rest on your chest. You feel violently ill, and this is not helped by the telltale rumblings of the fused ships entering the planet's upper atmosphere. You try to pick yourself up. Maybe you can get your self to an escape pod or...

You can't move. SHIT.

"Omnissiah Damn it 101! Do you know how much work I've done to keep you alive!" You hear Medusa shout as she rips a piece of wreckage that was covering you.

You blink as the light hits your eyes. "Wh-wha?"

Medusa picks you up and hugs you. You notice that she's over a foot taller than she was before. Right, you infused her with a Khornate daemon. That would explain why her hug is crushing your metallic ribs. You uncomfortably wrap your arms and four mechadendrites around her. Oh! You guess you technically ate the Nurgle daemon. The mere thought makes you want to vomit. "I was so scared when the ship impacted, but the sorcerer was able to lock onto your psychic signal. I'm so glad you're alive."

"So am I Medusa. So am I. Now, could you please let go, you're kind of-"

"HERETICS!" Suddenly, a massive figure emerges from a pile of wreckage. A Grey Knight, hoisted up in a massive mech suit, bearing a massive glowing sword. You gather your power into yourself. This has not been a good day. One of your conquests was blown up, you had to eat a disgusting daemon, you lost the opportunity to get ships, and your best robots just got hurt! You channel all of the frustration into to this psychic strike.

Froming great mechanical tendrils of psychic energy, you rip the limbs off the dread knight, and then rip the grey knight from his stupid fucking baby carrier perch, slamming him against the ground.

"What are you, you foul heretic!" He shouts as he writhes in your psychic grasp. You stomp over to him.

"And your soul belongs to him! I will deliver it!" You shout as you take him into your maw. He does not scream, remaining stoic as you devour him. He had a bit of psychic power, but given the daemons you've already devoured, it's almost nothing. You sit down, tired. After she checks to make sure that you aren't about to die, Medusa checks upon the injured B33p-800P, who is damaged but not destroyed. He will have great honors bestowed upon him. You smile as you descend into unconsciousness.

------------------------

You drift into a strange realm of dream, where you float above a massive maze of crystal. You can see that it has an entrance, but no true exit. You hear a laugh and turn to see a strange and warping creature, all tentacles and feathers and eyes. You know this creature; Tzneetch, the weaver of fate.
"He he he he he! Just as planned, you have done quite well. I barely saw your actions coming. But I did, of course. I know everything! I know you might be confused, but I think you've already seen what to do next right? All those things with Mars, the Necrons, the Warp, the Soul Forge, etc? It's all part of my massive scheme called 'The Universe'! You finally finished off your daemon eating list. Don't worry about more armies invading your planet anytime soon, I arranged for some very nice warpstorms to block astropathic communication. Now then, on to the reason I've came to you! Two gifts, you have to choose one!"

The god of sorcery opens one of his hands, revealing a ball of energy. "The first gift is to allow you to ascend to a daemon prince. Normally, you'd need one of us to sponsor you forever, but I'm ready to sign the contract and then immediately cancel the sponsorship deal after you make one commercial to sell Kairos Soda!"

Tzneetch opens up his other hand "The other option is a special spell one of my guys made. It's a bit like a computer virus, cast it and every piece of technology around will get immediately corrupted! Good price, used but in good condition! Which one do you want?"

I do not trust this at all. Tzeench is a deceiver, if we snub him and walk our own path as we have thus far done, we are fine. Each Aspect of chaos is attempting to lay claim to us, to direct us away from the the Omnishiah. We should eshew short term gains and continue to forge ourselves.

Just walk the fuck away. Don't say anything, dont interact any further. This is a temptation to stray you from the path of the Omnissiah. So far all the power we have gained has been earned. This deviation acknowledges that everything we work for is a falsehood, and is much an obvious trap. We are being dazzled with a glittering maze of bullshit, and a chaos aspect. It clearly wants something from us to offer such things. Let us just walk away, why would we settle for being a prince of chaos when we could be a lord of the dark forge?

Fine and 2.

You focus on your own form, the form you have grown used to. Your physical body is gone now, consumed by the warp. You must reform it out of daemonic energy. You reach deep within the warp and into a molten forge of creation, forging a new body. It does not bear the small symbols of the aspects of your last form. They are removed, melted down and incorporated into the most holy cog.

The body you forge is like living metal, plated in black and grey, accented in some places with red to remind of Holy Mars where the first worship of the Omnissiah began. You mount guns upon your arms and daemon blades upon your metallic tendrils. Your fingers are at once dexterous and skilled, yet hard and sharp, able to cut through bone and flesh like butter.

The warp flows into your soul as you become a being of the immaterial realm, moving from a being of matter closer to a being of concept. You will always be tied to the material realm by your origin, but you have ascended to a deathless state. Even if slain, you would simply be banished to the warp able to regain your form with concentration and patience.

You finalize your body, floating beside Tzneetch. You clench your fist, feeling new power flow through you(+1 to all stats, extra +2 to wp, int str, and tgh).

"He he he! There you go, contract signed, contract void. I already recorded the commercial using your likeness. Go go, you've got things to do, armies to gather, tomb worlds to raid, red planets to invade, dragons to eat, forges to conquer and all that. Go, go, go!" With that, the Weaver of Fate pushes you out of the warp and into your manor on Karax III, where Medusa and the sorcerer are chatting.

"101! Where were you! Dear Omnissiah... I can feel the change in you."

"Oh gods, you've ascended!? I wouldn't think that was possible! You aren't even dedicated to one of the gods! What?!" The sorcerer seems befuddled.

You silence them "There is much to do. Karax III must be secured if we are to continue out plans. What is the status of the planet?"

"Well my lord, the loss of the water facility is a bit crushing, but the warp tainted wreckage of that ship you crashed into the planet seems to have balanced out the loss of that corruption value. It also happens to be a good source of processed material and scrap for the up and coming factotums. Things seem to be going well, since the loss of water can be offset by converting a slightly larger potion of the population into servitors. Lady Medusa has a bit more knowledge on the every day workings of the planet, and you'll want to speak to former-tau Te'Hara about our military situation, as she seems to have mostly taken up that area of expertise. Elizabeth meanwhile is working more on the cult side of things. And I of course handle all matter space marine and sorcerous. Oh, and there's the Navigator Cassian. Medusa has basically put them in charge of our small fleet. My lord, the next steps are up to you."

You make you way to Elizabeth, angel of the Omnissiah. You find her outside, speaking before a crowd of natives. The various cultists she has converted look even more like Omnissiah worshippers than they used to, their bodies wracked with mutations most useful and vestigial, many having removed limbs to replace them with crude cybernetics. They look at you as you approach and sing you praises.

"Praise the Herald!"

"All hail the Omnissiah and his Herald!"

"Consume me my lord! Incorporate me into your being!"

"Make me a servitor my lord! I wish to become useful!"

You don't really have time for the cultists right now, so you absentmindedly wave you hand at the crowd, weaving a wave of warp energy over them. You vaguely notice that some have their prayers answered, gaining more cybernetics as their flesh warps into metal, while some die immediately, viewed as sacrifices. You ignore them mostly. "Elizabeth, how goes the matters of the Omnissiah's followers?"

"Wonderfully my lord! The metal rains were seen as a blessing, giving materials for easy scrap and technology. Worship of the glorious Omnissiah encourages learning and invention, and already the best and brightest among them have increased their technical knowledge to that of a tech priest. The followers have been looking for direction however; you must give them an order as to most properly make use of them."

We should encourage every single follower on the planet to embrace the gifts of the warp. Offer themselves as a vessel.

"Tell them to dedicate themselves to the building of the Omnissiah's shrines and factories. We must build up this planet if we are to do the Omnissiah's work."

Elizabeth bows "It shall be done my lord. Praise the Omnisssiah!"

"Indeed. I still need to inspect other parts of our forces. Do as I have commanded."

You walk away, and out of your advises, who you figure all need to be talked to, you'll simply talk to the first you see. You end up finding the former tau turned daemonically infused creature Te'Hara first. She is observing a group of skitarii preforming firing exercises. "Greetings my lord. I can smell that you have changed greatly."

"You can smell the difference between a mortal and immortal?"

"Yes. I have gained many new strengths since shedding my weak T'au form. My subordinate still resists the change. He views me as a monster who stole his commander's body as opposed to his commander's evolution. I plan to change tactics with him later."

Te'Hara nods her head towards the Skitarii "They are disciplined and orderly, but they are untested. Made from a tested template, yes, but they have never embraced the aspect of the blood god, merely heard of it from old battle recordings. I would like to test them in battle as soon as possible."

"You will have to wait until the next course of action is decided Te'Hara. Was there anything else?"

"Yes my lord: a proposal to upgrade our troops. The basic ranger pattern and its support units and vehicles is a strong generalist core, but we lack tactical variety. I would like to propose the creation of new units. The first proposal is based on myself. While they are not T'au, some skitarii could still attain a form similar to my own. They would be an immensely effective shock troop, like the chaos spawn but better organized. The second proposal would be the refitting and daemonization of Karax III's knights. While we are actively working on it, the process is slow. And wreckage from the ship crash further hindered it. The third proposal involves space marines in some way; the sorcerer was talking about it but did not go into details. He also mentioned something about 'daemon hosts'"

Rebuilding of the knights will come sooner with the priority of manufactorums and space marines are much more realiable heavy troops than chancing it on maybe some skitarii can become shock troops.

"I am interested in the prospect of space marines. I will speak with the sorcerer. Is there anything else you require?"

"No my lord."

"As you were then," You say, leaving towards the manor and entering the library, which appears to now be larger on the inside than the outside.

"Ah, my lord, I see you've come to me. What is it you desire?"

"Te'Hara said you had a proposal to develop space marines?"

"Indeed my lord, I have several. The first is that we invite the service of already existing war bands. If the message was sent out, we'd certainly attract almost a legion, but they wouldn't necessarily be loyal to you, merely your power and strength. And then I have ideas for making our own. You see, I've been able the harvest some of the geneseed from the Bloodied Skulls. We could create new marines from it, though even using the warp to speed things up, it would take some time to get them to fighting strength. Another proposal is much more immediate: Rubric Marines, derived from the techniques of the Thousand Sons. They're essentially automatons, but durable as hell and only require the power armor and some poor souls to make. For my final proposal... long ago, the Fabius Bile, famed apothecary of the Emperor's Children, gave me a lesson on geneseed. I believe that I could... develop a new strain, as it were, from your immaterial blood, in essence making you the primarch of a new legion. There's no guarantee it would ever work, but I could try."

Welp, if we're gonna form a space marine legion then there's no point in half-assing it. We're founding something brand new after all. plus, absorbing the aspects when the opportunity presents itself in the future is pretty appealing, let's make sure to really improve ourself later to make it possible.

"You may attempt this... experiment. You have my approval. What will you need?"

"Oh, noting too dire, my lord. Just a sample of your blood to starts." You cut yourself, and the sorcerer catches the droplets in the air with his mind. "Thank you my lord. I believe that Cassian was asking for you."

You nod, and begin to make your way to the room with the holo projector, but then remember that you are a powerful psychic daemon prince, slipping into the warp and stepping out onto the bridge of the Omnissiah Vult, right next to the androgynous navigator Cassian.

Cassian yelps and jumps out of the way. They're grown into quite the tech priest during your mission to Karax III; already proudly sporting the red robe and some sparkly new bionic parts. "My lord! I wasn't expecting you! How may I serve?"

"Calm down Cassian. What is the state of our fleet?"

"It's um... just the Omnissiah and the Gloria at the moment sir. I wish I could say more, but we simply don't have anything else."

"Do you have any ideas for expanding the Omnissiah's holy fleet?"

"Uh, yes sir! Well, the Core, you know, that sentient factorum on board? It could divert all its production to making another smaller ship, but then skitarii production would slow or cease. There's um, also the possibility to take control of other ships. We could go out raiding and such. We're pretty far out from Terra, so ships going missing wouldn't be investigated too deeply. There's also the possibility of um... well... we've been getting some communication from some xenos mercenaries, Eldar Corsairs. I don't think they really know about our true natures, but they'd be willing to rent us a few ships."

>[1] Stay as you are. We do not need to expand yet.

So we actually made it to demon prince. That's pretty insane, 101 is basically an immortal demigod that will never truly die, and even before he ascended, he was able to defeat and psychically defeat and devour incredibly powerful beings, even grey knights, the mass demon repellent of the galaxy. We might actually be at daemon primarch/surpassed greater daemon status. 101 might actually be the strongest being in materium in terms of pure power, except for maybe Bela'kor and only just below a full blown god. Neat

"We soon make for the nearest tomb world. My visions have said that is where the next step lies. Can you locate where the closest tomb world is, Medusa?"

"Yes. It's on Vera V, a nearby shrine world. We managed to recover the data from the Inquisitor's wreckage. The Order Xenos had inspected it and deemed it safe to simply but a bigger door over it, not ready to possibly awaken it. I wish we had been able to recover more."

"Excellent. That is nearby, correct?"

"Yes, quite near. How will we go about this? A small team sneaking in? Sending a bigger raider party? Full scale invasion? The latter option would mean we could just take control a mount a safe archeological dig, but we'd have to pull defenses away from Karax."

Sorcerer - Busy doing geneseed experiments
Te'Hara - Busy commanding your troops. Other could do it, but she seems rather attached to the role.
Elizabeth - kind of busy solidifying the influence of the cult. Could probably be brought away if you wanted to. You've corrupted Karax III pretty thoroughly.
Medusa - Kind of busy doing general governing. Being the liaison between your other advisors.
Cassian - busy with ship stuff.
B33p-800P - is a robot. Always ready to do whatever.
Kall - you haven't seen the gene stealer for awhile, but you've heard he's been tinkering with biotech. Probably would be willing to go.
Da Orks - You almost forgot you had these guys. What the fuck happened to them?

Actually having a shrine world dedicated to the Omnissiah is not a bad idea.

Medusa nods "All right then 101. Be safe, and find what you're looking for," She says as she kisses you, having to get on the tips of her toes and wrap onto your shoulders to do so.

A few hours later, you have assembled your team on board the Gloria Vulkanus, ready to take you to Vera V, ready to continue your journey in the name of the Omnissiah...
