+Intro+
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of the thousands of Imperial provinces that form the front line in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But the Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

+Sector Treasury+
When your men took over the palace, you received access to Sector Treasury. The vaults where liquid assets are kept contain a lot of Wealth. Did you loot any of it?
a) No, we are above it.
b) Just skim off the top, nobody will notice and our reputation should remain intact. [+100 W]
c) Chapter has the right to seek compensation for the blood spilled and equipment destroyed. We shall claim a quarter of this as ours. [+500W]
d) We deserve to be rewarded for the overthrow of the Ursus regime, let's claim half of the Treasury [+1000W]
e) Treasury was destroyed in a fire during the battle, because two Thunderhawks smashed into the towers where the valuables were located. [+2500W]
>>
>>2315921
Still for either:
>b) Just skim off the top, nobody will notice and our reputation should remain intact. [+100 W]
Or this:
>c) Chapter has the right to seek compensation for the blood spilled and equipment destroyed. We shall claim a quarter of this as ours. [+500W]
But openly, no need for charades, we earned the money and will put it towards our duty of ensuring (relative) peace in the sector.

+Merchant League+
Lord Brumm is very happy to hear from you:
>Well, well, well, of course the League would be more than happy to support the Astartes in your quest to protect the Imperium. As a matter of fact we are willing not only provide better rates of investment for the Chapter, but I convinced Merchant League to provide the Chapter with a decennial tribute. It will still have to be voted upon by our shareholders, but as long as it will be deemed that your actions defended the Imperium and helped our business, your Chapter will benefit greatly. We are talking... Greatly.
a) Thank you for the offer, but we don't do lobbying.
b) We accept the offer. [+100W (varies) every 10 years]
c) If you want to buy our favour, you will have to do better than that - we are interested in a fixed annual tribute. [+10W every year]

The Ghosts of Retribution are a proud Chapter. Some would have used the opportunity to get their hands on the unguarded riches, but once Administratum clerks returned, they were surprised to learn that not a single golden throne was touched.
[+1 Purity]

+Minor Purity Power Gained+
Chapter Master feels that he has been tested over the past decades, but has emerged stronger and purer than before. He feels slightly differently than he did before... How does he choose to embrace this stronger connection with the Emperor?

A) Through prayer
B) Through battle
C) Through sacrifice

+Merchant League Offer+
Chapter Master thanks Lord Brumm and agrees to accept decennial tribute. Add expected event in 370.M41. This event will keep happening until the tie is revoked or circumstances change. Exact tribute is not specified, meaning that it could differ depending on your actions, but understanding is that it will remain around 100W. On the other hand you understand that doing something to impact business in Sector Deus will have impact on this.

+Advisor to Lord Gration's Court+

+Penitence of the Honour Guard+
Chaplain Laptus is put to the task.
>I will remake them, my lord. There aren't many of them, so I will keep an eye on them personally. From this day forth they will be known as the Penitent Guard, for they have lost their Honour. They will act as my personal squad and I promise to lead them there, where none would dare to go. Through pain, steel and if it comes to it, Death, they will be redeemed.

If you approve of it, Laptus will now lead 4 Penitent Guards, who will be sealed in their suits of armour until the day they repay their sins. They will be under the oath of silence and will go into battle silent as death itself. Do you approve of Chaplain's plan?

+Witches+
The rest of the witches have now been taken by Thomas Garant and the Inquisition. Their fate is unknown.

+Deidara's ship+
[Critical success] When your men board the ship, something appears to be amiss. Apart from servitors running it, there appears to be no crew onboard and it seems to be in a state of disrepair, almost as if it was abandoned some time ago. Simmer, Techmarine leading the party, was lucky enough to notice this and stop everyone in their tracks. He carefully examined the ship and realised that it is rigged to blow as soon as any of the systems are manually activated - it is a trap, that could have cost the lives of your whole boarding party, more than three squads of marines. Another thing that Simmer discovers is that the ship is not Acending Storm, as we believed it to be, but merely a shell of an Endurance-class light cruiser that has been disguised as the Ascending Storm... While this was an expensive decoy, it seems it served it's purpose. After some digging it appears that the ship belongs to the Imperial Navy and on the paper has been sent to Nestorian shipyards a good decade ago for repairs.
[Simmer gains Demotion(+10) skill]

+Gift to the Order of the Bloody Tears+
[Cost: 4W] Your gift is received well. This, combined with your cooperation during the overthrow of the Ursus Dynasty slightly improves your relationship. Amelia Engel makes sure to thank you in person:
>You know, there was a time I would have slain you were you stand, if given the chance... But your actions have proven that you are a man worthy of respect and a true servant of the Emperor. It is a shame that our relationship started on that note, I am glad it has moved on past that...

+Tyrel Hagen+
The man arrives to Aspera Dominus, but he is a shell of his former self - his face is pale, eyes fallen in and once well-kept haircut is now all disheveled.
>Thank you, Chapter Master. You have truly done something that I will never be able to fully repay. I thought I was dead. My heart still beats only thanks to you, because of this my life belongs to you. And thus, all of my secrets belong to you as well. There's something terrible that I must admit to you. I realise, that admitting something like this to a Space Marine is as good as writing my own death sentence, but I feel that I owe you the truth. Their charges are correct. I have indeed dabbled with sorcery. Now wait, just let me explain. As you know, I am a man of low birth, I was never intended to be where I am and who I am. It is pure luck and the will of the Emperor that I am standing in front of you in this uniform. But Lord forgive me, is it hard to fight every day not only against the enemies of the Imperium, but also against every damned noble and bureaucrat who thinks that his petty self-interest and pride should be the center of the universe. I knew that Larion and Deidara were plotting something. I honestly believed at one point, that I will wake up with the men from the Commissariat knocking on my door in the middle of the night and that I will be shot like a dog behind the hangar for some made up charges. So I started looking for ways to predict it. I tried Imperial Tarot. Then I tried diviners. Official ones. Then I went to the underhive. Then tried seers... Then... Then I got my hands onto a book using a different interpretation of the Imperial Tarot. I will not bore you with the details, but I think what I did by many is considered to be sorcery. Look at me, I am no sorcerer! But it is true, I found a way to read the cards in such a way as to foresee the next dangerous move by my opponents... I wasn't lying when I said that I intercepted communications that I shouldn't have. I just didn't tell you that those weren't conventional communications. I promise to you that I am not a heretic, not a psyker, not a worshipper of the foul powers... You know that I wouldn't come to you if that was the case. Let me prove to you that I am honest and let me serve the Emperor!
>>

What do you do?
a) As per Codex Astartes, heretic shall be terminated on the spot with extreme prejudice
b) Let the Inquisition sort him out, off to the Garant's dungeon he goes
c) He is honest, but he committed a terrible sin. He will be imprisoned by the Chapter until further notice, we will command the fleet in his name
d) He was more than a tool, he was a friend. He shall be forgiven, but will have to destroy all of the materials and promise never to speak of this again
e) I slept with an Eldar witch. Can't judge him, at least he did it for a serious purpose. Tell him, that carefully managed sorcery can be sometimes useful, but make sure he receives briefing from our Librarians on how not to abuse it.

Librarians report that he doesn't have any abnormalities in his psychic signature. After close examination it does appear as if he had increased exposure to the Immaterium, but not above that what is expected and permitted due to Warp travel. Hagen is also revealed to have following traits:
Sorcery(+10)
Trait: Sorcerous Foresight [allows a reroll once per battle when commanding a ship]

Would keeping him in close proximity of Xenya purge the knowledge?
>>
>>2316222
>Their charges are correct. I have indeed dabbled with sorcery.
Well, we accepted that as a possiblity when we made the decision.

>Let me prove to you that I am honest and let me serve the Emperor!
Let him serve the Emperor.
Through us as his conduit.
And tell him that if he wishes to know something about the future he should ask somebody who's not a heretic and knows what he's talking about (like us, or are we still hiding the psyker thing?)

>d) He was more than a tool, he was a friend. He shall be forgiven, but will have to destroy all of the materials and promise never to speak of this again

Purging mind of something like this is always a dangerous affair. After consulting with Trianon and Klementhos, it seems that he would most likely lose a couple or more years of memory with that as well. When purging for heretical information, you have to wipe everything since the time he started dabbling in it. He will lose memory of the coup, assassins and everything that followed, including the mind-scrubbing. Also there are following dangers:

[75-85] Mental problems, possible side effects such as paranoia, schizophrenia, hysteric attitude, epilepsy, seizures, random memory loss, etc etc
[85-92] Reduced mental capabilities, light retardation
[93+] Complete wipe - his consciousness will die

Despite receiving a warning from Deidara's agents Drakkon decided to come to Tachion Primaris in person to find out what exactly is happening. When he descended onto the planet, he was immediately intercepted by his brother's personal troops and taken to the meeting with you and Larion Ursus. Drakkon was explained the situation in a way so that there would be no ambiguities. While you were talking to him, orders went out to all of the Imperial Guard commanders that Drakkon Ursus has been awarded a very special 'Guardian of the Court' position, which was incompatible with his current commitment as the Lord Militant and thus he had to resign. 48 hours later position of the 'Guardian of the Court' was quietly changed into 'Guardian of the Court Garden', thus giving Drakkon a for life pension of 1W a year and also keeping him as a member of the Court. Out of options, Drakkon is forced to accept ordinary Planetary Governor position on Athena Prime. He still retains his rank of the Imperial Planetary General.

+Intelligence+
Reo Hestrom, whom you asked to investigate Tesalia D'anger's whereabouts, reports that he found the evidence that Tesalia has been gathering a coalition of pirates, renegades and bounty hunters. She seems to bear deep hatred for the Ghosts of Retribution and she seems to be the lover of the infamous Daikan Alepros, Pirate Lord of the Tartarus space station. Furthermore, there are rumours, that one of the pirates under Tesalia's command is a psyker... It doesn't seem as if she's an active threat, but it's something to be aware of.

Eliam?

Who will be the new Lord General Militant? Have Gration/Eliam decided?

Returning the navy cruiser and asking about some kind of periodic escort supply.

Otherwise I think that's all.

Next order of business. The Triot Campaign.

What is its current status? Any changes due to the coup?

We should start preparing our troops. Redrilling them in combat against orknoids.

Can we create a spy network in Subsector Cryptus (Tartarus Focus) for 50w? To keep an eye on the D'anger situation.

Can we send spies and scouts into Subsector Mortis to get a grip on the current situation within? Spies on independent merchant traders and the like.

Woops two objective gammas. Now Epsilon feels all unloved.

Reminder that we wanted to start a youth exchange program with aspirants from our chapter and the local sororitas to train together and forge a closer bond between the next generation of both organisations.

I would like to suggest sending out some scouting vessels to map subsector Mortis. The styrian triarchy hides there, using our lack of knowledge to their advantage.
If we are to root out this heresy, we must gain intelligence on the subsector.
Small, nimble vessels should suffice.
