They say that reality is stranger than fiction but with the dawn of the New Age of Heroes the mundane has become the extreme; And in this time it is the realm of dreams that have truly become strange.

You don’t remember how it all started, where the dream started and reality ended. The last you had remembered was sitting on the dimly lit Bus on the way back to your family's apartment, the constant rumble of the diesel engine lulling you to sleep. It had been a long day and school had been as miserable as ever; With Flash Thompson having gone so far as to push you off the bus, forcing you to use what little money you had left from work to buy a ticket home.

But now it was a realm of fog, with winding and seemingly innumerable tunnels postmarked the landscape you now found yourself in; And what a landscape it was.

Through the fog you could see the changing traffic lights, the crunching sound of tires on wet asphalt, and the sound of rain splashing along glass. Walking closer to the edge of the lege you found yourself on, you discover that what had appeared at first as a fog covered void was a twisted and bent amalgam of the expansive city you had called home for years: The City of…

...Jump. If you listened closely you could even hear the waves of the bay crashing against the shore, however before you could even ponder where to begin you hear something much closer; A chittering, creaking something. Turning to look you see that contrary to the strange and twisted landscape around you there was something normal, or at least slightly normal. You would remember later that it should have horrified you but none the less you see what appears to be a crystal spider.

A crystal spider the size of a large dog.

The only reason you could even see it was that unlike the twisted and bent landscape it at least had a constant color of a pale, off-color white. Rather than terror however you feel a strange, sense of curiosity as it continues to scuttle closer.

As the creature continue to crawl close you kneel down and extend a hand out, and rest it on the top of the crystal spider’s ‘head’. You can feel the thing humming, seemingly cooing gently, its off-white bleeding away into a more relaxed blue.

”You have been chosen, but you are not alone. Six have been called, but only one may answer. Be strong Alexander White, and may the Mother Guide you.” You hear drift into your mind, echoing as the spider seems to shrink and contort before your eyes. Watching it crawl up your hand and beneath your shirt you feel it reach your chest and then a stinging sensation that quickly crawls from your chest to your entire body.

Ahead of you the landscape of the twisted Jump City began to spin and bleed away, your pain equally fading before everything is a numb and peaceful black.

That is, until your alarm starts blaring.

Slapping the top of your alarm it thankfully shuts up and blearily looking at the clock you see that sure enough it's 5:30. You don’t even know when, let alone how you had found yourself home after your bizzare dream on the bus. Getting to your feet and stretching you roll your stiff shoulders and look over at the small desk that took up much of your rooms space. You were always thankful for your Aunt and Uncle for taking you in after your parents had passed away; And the fact that they had done everything they could to provide the best childhood possible.

But best possible didn’t always mean most comfortable.

You were used to books and clothes from the local Salvation Army and pulling the worn and faded ‘led zeppelin’ shirt from your frame you grab a towel and a change of clothes and head for the bathroom. Running the hot water you finish undressing and notice something strange in that your lanky frame seemed more...full?

Nah, you were probably just seeing things.

One quick shower later you feel refreshed and more awake as you make your way to the kitchen and begin making yourself a quick meal of eggs, sausage and toast.

As you continue to work on your meal you hear the slight creak of the stairs and sure enough see your uncle, Ben, come down the short staircase to meet you.

“Good morning, Sport!” He says jovaily, taking a whiff of what you’re cooking and giving a whistle. “Smells good!”

“Thanks Uncle.” You say softly, offering up the plate you had already set up to which he happily obliged himself to.

You had always had a close relationship with your uncle, though there were certainly times that relationship was strained. He had been in the marines and had always pushed you to be into sports as he had in his youth. However you had always been more cerebral and so even when you gave it your all you’d regress into your usual bookish behavior.

“You alright kiddo?” He asks softly, which surprises you as you turn away from the skillet.

“What do you mean?”

“Well I heard you came in late and just looked...kinda like you were spaced out. Was it those bullies at school still giving you trouble?” He asks.

You frown.

“It’s the same as always.” You say, trying to keep the bitterness out of your voice.

Due to your upbringing you had always been something of ridicule to the kids you went to school with. While you managed to at least keep yourself out of the limelight, it never really ended even in your highschool years. While Uncle Ben had insisted on you trying to stand up to them your Aunt May had pushed to be passive, that retaliating might cause them to do more drastic things. In the end you had always sided with your Aunt, as you were nowhere near physically strong enough to fight the likes of Flash and his goons.

“Well, Like I’ve said before, if you ever want tips or anything I still remember what they taught us in bootcamp. I’m rusty as all hell but it might help you stand up to those punks.” He says, a sly smile on his face.

“Thanks, I’ll keep it in mind.” You say, though your smile doesn't really reach your eyes.

You loved him, but he never really knew what it was like to be as powerless as you were.

Finishing up your meal you’re quick to pack your backpack up and sling it over your shoulder, making sure you’ve got everything ready you step out into the hall and head down to the streets. Stepping out into the slight chill of the early morning air you sigh at the view before you. The apartment you lived in was on the outskirts of the city and was therefore in a semi-rough neighborhood. While it was certainly better than in places like Gotham or Bludhaven, but even with a teen team of superheroes on patrol it didn’t always stop things; Especially so far away from the Titans Tower you could see out on the bay.

And so you started the walk down the hill to the bus stop.

Before you can even think your body is already in motion your legs bending in the action to jump. The moment your body is ready you experience that moment of weightlessness as your body is launched not just clear by a few feet but by stories as you watch the brick wall ahead of you zoom closer. Reaching your hands out to catch yourself you feel the sting of the impact on your palms, however you do not fall like you had expected; Instead finding yourself dangling a good fifteen feet above the ground.

What...just...happened?

Looking down at the purple roadster rocketing down the hill and towards the city you cannot help but feel helpless, afraid and...confused. How had you done that. A day ago you couldn’t even pass the Fitnessgram Pacer Test with any note and yet you had just cleared twenty feet in a single jump; And that wasn’t even counting the fifteen feet you had gone up! Were you still dreaming?

You pinch yourself and sure enough it hurts.

So you aren’t dreaming, and you’re stuck fifteen feet above the ground seemingly stuck to the surface...somehow. What do you do?

You were lucky that no one was out and about this early in the morning as you looked back down at the sidewalk. The last thing you needed was people seeing you like this and causing a scene. Calming the myriad of thoughts that ran through your head you mull over your options. You were stuck to the brick certainly, but you had been able to jump up here. It had to be possible that you could jump again and make it back down right?

Right.

Pressing yourself away from the wall as much as you could you tucked your legs in, hoping to god your arms weren’t ripped from their sockets when you jumped. Feeling that you had positioned yourself as best you could you push with all your might and are launched from the wall, arms and all. Moving in a wide arc you manage to tip your head back and see that sure enough you were moving towards the ground at a terrifying speed.

This was going to suck.

However your body seems to go into an automatic reaction, curling and flipping what feels like three times; Landing you flat on your feet on the other side of the road with little more than disheveled clothes. Looking from where you started to where you ended you couldn’t help but feel shock.

You should have broken legs from that and yet...you were fine?

Seems we have a bus to catch.
>>
>>2307711

You could worry about the how or why later, as you have more important things to deal with, such as getting to the bus on time. It’s a surprisingly quick run for you, or at least it feels like it is faster. Arriving with little more than a huff you notice that you’re the first one to arrive of the probably four or five others that usually were at this stop. Checking your phone you have about twenty minutes before the bus shows up. This gives you time to ponder as you take a seat on the sidewalk.

Up until twenty minutes ago if anyone had asked you to do either of the things you had done, it would have been impossible; Yet one trippy dream later and you had been able to both of those things as well as dodge a car thundering down the road. So what had happened? And what did it mean in the long run for you?

There was only one real way to find out and that was to:

>A. Skip school today, you hadn’t missed that many days and try and discover what happened

Whatever questions you had could be answered after school and sacrificing your education for something that may have just been a once off anomaly was foolish. By the time the bus arrives most of the other kids have arrived and so begins another boring forty minute drive to Jump Regional High. You spend most of the time doing the homework you had not been able to finish due to your strange trip you had the night before.

Thankfully it made the trip quick, your focus entirely devoted to the work in your lap.

Just managing to stuff your books back into your bag as the bus pulls up you spot Flash Thompson and his goons on the football team hanging around and you feel your stomach tighten. Usually these guys stayed around their cars and bikes at the far lot until school started, but seeing them here could only mean trouble. And as you step off the bus you sure enough see Flash look at you and then his goons and once again that tingling feeling shoots down your spine.

Pulling the hood of your hoodie up you try to make yourself as small as you can, even ‘ thinking’ small in a hopes that it somehow helps you avoid the inevitable trouble that Flash and his pose would cause. Whatever Flash is insisting to the rest of his group it seems it is a truly important as none of them seem to pay any mind to you. However you only really let your guard down when you find yourself in the warmth of the schools central heating.

It was a Friday, which was good news for you because you had your ‘mostly’ easy block of classes that included.

I realized that, but that's steering on metagaming, considering compulsory education it's not like we're completely cut off, this choice is just for what we excel at, I think.
'sides, if anons are planning to join up with the Titans then they can help with whatever smarts we need, I'm just kind of tired of all the genius or super smart teens that plague comics and how anons always go for the brains in quests too, on top of us being a stand in for Parker already.
All I'm saying is, being Alexander White gives us an opportunity to distinguish ourselves from Peter Parker, a character we've had plenty of experience with reading comics.

Then again schooling differs from country to country, even grades are organized differently in places, not to mention funding and type of school, public or otherwise, might play a part on what stuff is compulsory.
You can bet science related higher education or preparation for it would have it though, or some old prestigious cream of the crop school like Liceo classico in Italy.

>>
>>2312505
>And why not learn it? How often do you see it chosen as a class in quests?
The context of the quest matters, if this was some Hardy Boys thing then yeah, totally but this is a cape quest, I kinda want to do superhero things, not sit around picking apart one guy's MO or figuring out the how's and whys, especially when DC is known to have some outright undiagnosable people and playing detective is the Batfamily's entire shtick, just seems unnecessary.
It's not like QM's gonna make us sit through the classes.

PE, Home Ec, Latin and English

Compared to classes with Mr. Connors and Mr. Octavius, english and home ec would a piece of cake, especially with Ms. Hardy running the class. At first you had thought that, as many of your fellow male students probably had it would be an easy class with some eye candy to go with it; However as the months had gone on you had come to truly enjoy cooking and had become a sort of teacher's pet in her eyes, much to everyone else dismay.

But before all of that you would have to survive Phys Ed with Mr. Gargan.

The coach for the football teams with a rager for fitness and the ‘peak’ physical performance, Mr. Gargan had been the bane of your existence for your entire high-school career. Due to your aforementioned lack of physical abilities he had always had a keen eye on you, and was quick to point out our failures when he could. Hopefully today wouldn’t be one of those days, but you could only hope.

Stuffing your bag into your locker you make the quick commute from your locker to the central gymnasium. Whether it was a blessing or curse your lack of real social group made sure you got there early and could change in relative peace. Pulling out your faded plain blue shirt and black shorts you roll your shoulders one last time, doing what stretches you can before the rest of the class made their way through and into the gym propper.

“Morning Alex!” You hear your best friend, Harry, cry out before you find him hopping onto the bench beside you.

“Mornin Harry” You say with what energy you can muster.

“You looking forward to the weekend?” He asks with a knowing grin “I’ve got a ton of beer and the entire Alien’s series ready to go with a few mates. You wanna join us?” He asks, and you shrug.

“I don’t know, I’ve got a few things I might have to do but I’ll ring you if I’m free.” You promise, giving one another a fist bump.

“Sounds good man.”

With the first bell ringing in your ears you make your way out along with the rest of your classmates, lining up beside the girls and doing your awful best to put yourself as far away from them and Flash as you can. When Mr. Gargan he steps out, wheeling out a cage full of large red rubber balls and you feel your heart tense.

“Alright class it’s friday and if there’s one thing I remember loving as a kid was dodgeball, is that still true?” He asks, much to the cheer of most of the assembled class; You however cannot help but be terrified of the next hour and a half of your life.

“Alright captains will be….Flash and Eddie.” Mr. Gargan announces with a smirk and you watch the two rivals begin to pick their cronies and cliques. Two minutes later and you are stuck near the back line of your fifteen member team, and you can already see Flash staring at you with a grin.

The moment the class starts there is a rush of action as the front lines rush forward to grab balls and you’re immediately on the defensive, as It seems that Flash and gang were happy to target you even if it was an efficient method. Even with all of that targeting you manage to keep yourself safe, however many of your teammates are not so lucky. By the end of the fifth minute it’s you, Eddie, Harry and your tinkering friend Hobie.

Meanwhile on the other team there was Flash and his goonies, getting cheered on of course by none other than Mary Jane and the rest of the cheerleading squad.

You’re about to move forward for a ball when you feel that same tingle from this morning and:

You see the ball practically halt in mid air, your body moving on its own as you rush towards it, diving over it as your hand shoots out to grip the ball in your hand as it passes beneath you. Tucking your knees you manage to halt your forward momentum, landing flat on your feet before throwing the ball towards the person who had thrown the ball at you. You expect it to go slow as you lacked any real strength, however the ball takes off like a rocket; Squarely landing in the kids chest and all but knocking him off his feet.

...What?

The whole gym goes deathly quiet as everyone processes the events that had just transpired. You, the scrawny, weak nobody had just hit one of the linebackers with a dodgeball hard enough to knock him back and off his feet. You let the feeling over take you, watching the volley of incoming balls as you begin to move automatically. You do your best to try and make it look more rushed, jerking your body at seemingly the last possible moment and fumbling in a hope to play it off. However you had gone from barely being able to lift fifty pounds in a single hand to moving like a natural born acrobat and it seemed that few were buying it; As the focus of six members of Flashes team were dedicated to you and you alone.

This does however give Eddie, Hobie and Harry plenty of room to throw their own balls and knock out half of them.

“You’re gonna be toast, Tighty Whitey!” Flash yells, being at least smart enough to take his eyes off you and focus instead on Eddie.

You watch as your strongest thrower (Other than potentially your last throw) is pegged in the chest and frown. You were being backed up into a corner and if anyone else wised up it would quickly boil down to you. Narrowly bending your head out of the way you had two options:

Yield and let them hit you, as you had no doubt already caused quite the stir and the last thing you needed was to create more of one; Or on the other hand take the offensive, at this rate none of them could hit you and you had proved that you could deal with them...handily.

No, you weren’t going to let them win.

These Jocks...these punks had bullied you relentlessly and got away with it because they were the stars of the sports team. But now, with your new reflexes and seeming strength you could stand up to them. You might never get a chance like this and you were going to take it.

Bending out of the way of a fastball your hand shoots out, catching it as it passes where you had once been. Looking back at Flash you give him a grin and reply to his quip.

“My turn.”

Cocking your arm back you hurl the ball at the teen, it practically crossing the distance between the two of you in an instant and slamming into the chest of the jock. However instead of a knockback of a few feet you cannot help but watch in amazing as the ball compresses against his chest like a deep red pancake before ricocheting back towards you. You barely manage to get your head out of the way as the ball whizzes by and hits the wall behind you with a ‘pl-thunk’.

However that is nothing compared to what happened to Flash Thompson.

Still high on the adrenaline rush you could see the ripples of the impact force on his clothes and his eyes bulging as he is lifted from the ground. No longer bound to the ground his body topples over itself in a series of backflips before landing outside the bounds of the series of orange cones Mr. Gargan set up. Landing with an unflattering thump, you hear Flash groaning as the room once again falls into a deep silence.

Seems you had done a little TOO well.

Mr. Garagan is next to his star quarterback in a heartbeat, making sure he’s okay as everyone starts to give you a bit of a wide breadth. Even Harry is somewhere between awestruck and terrified at the fact that you had just flattened Flash Thompson with a Rubber ball.

You could feel the elation at finally taking Flash down a number of pegs with a dodgeball of all things, and even as your breath slows your heart continues to thunder in your chest. You were elated at finally being able to stand up for yourself, but that just as quickly turns to a different kind of rush. The rush you were sadly far more comfortable with, much to your dismay.

Fear.

You could feel every eye on you and while you perhaps had always dreamed of being the one in the spotlight, now that you were in it you felt very small. And with so many whispered voices around you that there was a mixture of anger, fear, surprise and uncertainty. Even with Harry and Hobie a few feet away you felt incredibly alone.

Before you had even realized it your feet were already in motion and you were running into the locker room. Your hands moved like lighting to grab your clothing as you pushed the door out of the way and ran to the closest bathroom. Knocking open the stall you throw your clothes ontop of the toilet and find yourself keeling over the bowl and spilling your mostly digested breakfast into it.

When you finally sat up your hands were shaking and your skin was like ice.

What was going on?

Screwing your eyes shut you do your best to calm your shaking hands, taking slow, deep breaths. You don’t know how long there just panting and keeping yourself from heaving further, but over time it occurs to you that there is a strange...warmth radiating from your chest. When you finally open your eyes you see that you’re no longer in your shorts and t-shirt, but a skin tight...suit?

”Well done, for a hatchling you managed to find your ta’mak faster than expected. Though you are certainly not the first you are not the last either.”

The words dance in your mind, spoken by the same female voice that you had heard the evening before.

Looking down at your hands you trace the colors from one to the next “Ta’mak?” You ask aloud, waving your hand slowly in front of your face.

”In your language the closest thing would be ‘totem’. Six Akhar were sent out, and each given to a chosen avatar; Each were bonded to them and so you were changed. You have no doubt already seen the changes but the deepest was in fact to your very soul.”[b/] the voice continues, and with those words said you watch as the world falls away.

You fall for what feels like hours in a rainbow of colors and shapes, the colors spreading out across your vision. Suddenly however you are jerked to a halt and the colors twist and bend, connecting to one another in the parody of a massive spiders web.

”You are Sha’dom’Dal Et...Cut from the Web of Fate. You are no longer bound to destiny’s plan and are a truly free agent; Your Ta’mak, your Totem is your brand that acts as your anchor. It is the manifestation of your very soul.” it continues, and you see six tiny strands from the web break away.

However it begins to show the color from these dots begin to bleed away until they are lost in the black void around them.

”Only one of you may remain free, and so you must fight; Fight and keep your freedom.”

>You have Received the Totem of The Hunter. Your strength lies not in your raw might, but your cunning.

>Your strength is weaker than other totems
>Your Speed is greater than most totems
>Your reflexes are stronger than other totems.
>Totemic Power: Camouflage; Your Ta’mak allows you to blend your costume into the environment around you.

>What do you do
>A. You have to figure out how to get out of this...costume

Way, way to late buddy.
>>
>>2316764

“So what is this? Why is it happening” you ask desperately, trying to ignore the semi-cool feeling of the outfit that now clung to your skin.

”If you are referring to what you are clad in, it is your Ta’mak.” it replies, which only leads to the natural confusion.

“But I thought you said that was my totem.”

”It is both. The Ta’Mak is a brand, a mark of both your soul and being. To those who can sense it, they will know you as Mu’Kesh ‘The Hunter’.”

“But that doesn’t answer why I’m in some Halloween costume shenanigans.” You insist, pinching the material lightly and trying to stretch it away from your body.

”Because you think so small, Hatchling. It is the manifestation of your actions, your deeds, they very core concepts that make up your entire being. It protects you, from both outsiders of Mu’Kahlal and physical harm. It aids you, increases your power and allows you to make the most of your Totem. It is The Mother’s mark upon you.”

Well...isn’t that comforting.

“And just...what is ‘Mother’ making this happen? Why am I a part of all this?” You all but beg, watching as your strange garb begins to recede towards your chest.

The voice chuckles, the image of the web before you fading back to the stall you occupied.

”That, my dear hatchling, will be revealed only to the one who wins the Mu’Kahlal: The Great Hunt.”

And with that you are left once more in your shorts and T-shirt, kneeled over a toilet rank with your vomit. Quickly flushing it down you change into your normal clothes and:

Freshly changed you decide that it would be best to just go to class, pretend what just happened didn’t happen and hopefully get to after school without more trouble. Peeking your head out of the bathroom you see that the halls are empty and after bundling your clothes up you make your way to your locker. Halfway through your walk you hear the first bell let out and you pick up your pacing.

Stuffing your clothes in your locker you pull your backpack out and hurry towards the staircase.

However you are interrupted by a shout.

“Tighty-Whitey!”

You feel your heart sink as you turn around and sure there’s Flash and his goons, marching like a hit squad down the hall with students getting out of the way as quickly as they can.

“O-oh hey uh Flash.” You stammer, continuing to back up as they continue their march forward.

“We’ve got a lot to figure out, don’t we?” He growls out, stalking towards you, his taller frame hulking above you.

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You insist, meekly laughing as your heart continues to pound faster.

“Oh yes you do, White and you’re gonna take your Lumps! Get ‘em!” He shouts and sure enough he and his goons surge forward.

You turn away from them and immediately start running toward the stairwell. They are quick to follow but you had not only the lead but were far faster, weaving and moving through the crowd before you. Pushing open the door to the stairwell you already up half the flight of stairs by the time they barge in after you. By the time you’re on the second floor the slam of their heavy footfalls against the stairs are echoing behind you.

Whoever that woman was is right, you’re a lot faster now; Smoothly closing the door to the Home Ec room behind you, you’re quick to duck behind the wall as they continue running down the hall.

“Seems you have some admirers, Mr. White. Did you forget to make them breakfast or something?” You hear behind you and you nearly jump out of your skin.

“Oh uh...h-hi Ms. Hardy.” You stammer, turning around to see the pale haired woman staring at you.

Ms. Victoria Hardy was a rather stunning beauty, even in her mid-forties the woman had not lost an ounce of her feminine charm. She had taken up the position of the Home Economics teacher two years ago, though her nickname had proceeded her.

The Cooking Cougar.

You were nervous when you first met her last September, but with dedicated study and your discovered talent for cooking you had quickly become her star pupil. While this had made you uncomfortable due to Ms. Hardy’s habit of touching students when giving personal instruction, it had also made you a target by the more pig headed boys who wanted your spot.

“Well come on, get your apron on Mr. White, we’ve got soufflé’s to make.” She chides as other students begin to file in.

The ninety minutes seem to fly by as you go through the long process of whisking, stirring, melting and preparing the soufflé, all the while listening to what instruction and advice that Ms. Hardy gives. By the end though you are only waiting for the oven to finish preparing your delicious treats.

“So Mr. White, care to explain just what you did to get all those boys hot and bothered or am I going to have to assume you slept with one of their girlfriends.” Ms. Hardy asks, barely above a murmur as she stands beside you.

You go scarlet.

“I-I didn’t, I-I mean, uh…” You stammer, suprised by her frank question which manages to get a rise of laughter out of her.

“Relax Alex, relax. I know you’re a good kid, that’s why i’m asking what you could have done to get a…”Physically focused” kid like Flash to get him so riled up.” She explains, resting a hand on your shoulder.

>Well, do you explain what happened?

“We were playing dodgeball first block and I happened to get him out and I don’t think he’s taking it too well.” You answer, and you see the woman frown.

“I should bring this up to the principal, huh?” She asks to herself and you immediately perk up.

“B-but why?” You ask “It’s no big deal, r-really.” You insist, looking up at her pleading.

She frowns for a split second before she replies “It’s my job as your teacher to report any sort of bullying.”

“But he might go nuclear if he gets in trouble!” You whisper-shout, and you watch an unsure look on her face.

“And if he does we will take far more stern punishment.” She promises.

Oh boy.

You’re interrupted from saying anything further by the ding of the oven as you quickly scramble to pull the tray from the oven. Taking a moment to set the ramekins aside, quickly clean what dishes you had left as the bell rings.

“Alright students, feel free your tasty dishes down for lunch and We’ll meet again on tuesday~” Ms. Hardy announces and you nod numbly, taking your Soufflé with you.

Swiping your backpack you make your way for the fire escape. While it was ‘proper’ protocol to keep the door shut, the alarm had been busted since who knew how long and so it had been common for the more adventurous students to go up there for lunch. For you it was more an escape from your usual issues at lunch.

Like having tomato soup poured all over you, for example.

Stepping out onto the roof you felt the wind on your skin and the sun’s warmth hugging your body. After setting your things down you quickly dig into your Sofflé, admiring the warmth and softness of the pastry. Savoring the chocolate you’re about to dig into the PB&J sandwich you had made earlier that morning when you were gently shaken as a flash of orange and red went off in the distance.

It was then when the sound of an explosion, fire alarms and a rising black plume of smoke makes itself known.

You barely manage to swallow the bite of your sandwich as you stand up, alarmed at the sight. Immediately your heart starts to throb as your fight or flight response kicks in. You already feel the cool sensation as you suddenly go from your street clothes to your Ta’mak materializes around you. Almost immediately your brain is assaulted by the sounds of screaming and smell of burning wood and concrete.

Was this part of the suit?!

After a moment of focusing and ‘turning down’ your senses you can still see it and you and a thought crosses your mind. You knew for certain that the Titans could stop whatever crime was happening, they were the protectors of Jump City after all. But even then there were innocents in danger and you had the power to help, maybe not stop the crime but at least protect people long enough for them to show up.

You clench your fists as you stare out from your perch on the roof. You had the power to stop what was happening and sure you’d be missing school, but there were lives in the balance and not knowing the six conjugations of the word ‘balance’ could be missed for this. Sprinting down the rooftop like it’s a runway you are amazed at how fast you clear it, having crossed the distance in what feels like two seconds.

Reaching the end you jump as hard as you can and find yourself flying as you go ten, twenty, thirty feet skyward and you’re still moving forward when you realize a major issue; How were you going to land?

Panicking for a moment again your body seems to take over on its own and your arm shoots out your hand clenches slightly and with a slight ‘thwip’ you watch as a stingy, pale rope of...something shoot from your wrist. Grabbing the rope you watch it make contact with a nearby building and anchor itself. Starting to swing you can’t help but feel a thousand questions run through your mind, but most importantly was the one you were screaming to yourself.

DID THAT STUFF JUST COME OUT OF ME?!

However you force the panic down as you reach the apex of the swing and release, going for a few feet before repeating the process on your own. Within a few swings you’ve already moved from a panicked and afraid act and more into a natural, almost joyous movement. You would have to do this more often when you weren't rushing towards a crime scene.

Coming to rest across from the building that was billowing smoke you notice that sure enough it was the Jump City Central Bank, with people running for their lives as random bolts of pink and yellow beams of energy. Whatever was happening down there was going to be dangerous and you needed to steel your nerves and decide for yourself: How were you going to present yourself.

>Well?
>How are you gonna fight?
>A. Capitalize on your speed and play defensive.
>B. Use your speed to get in a number of quick, powerful blows.

Shooting a web out and tethering yourself to the other building you leap, your costume already blending and shiting with the sky around you. The only reason you can even tell is that in the reflection of the upper office buildings you see that the odd blending of the suit that clung to your skin. Colliding with the building you grunt, surprised by the sheer force that you had impacted it with and perhaps more so that it didn’t quite hurt; More like the force of a high fall on your soles but nothing more.

As if on instinct you begin to crawl down the sculpted facade of columns and statues, halting just before the blown out windowsill into the bank where no doubt there had once been a stain-glass window. Peering in as best as you can, you see a pair of teens standing in the center of the room. You had been expecting at least something normal like old school bank robbers, however you knew who they were and you were immediately tense.

Jinx and Gizmo.

There was no turning back now however and so you started to crawl into the bank itself, your costume already turning into the pale grey of the stonework behind you. Clamoring along the ceiling your senses go off and you immediately leap away from the ceiling, a beam of yellow energy striking the spot you had been in.

“Danggit I KNEW the sensors weren’t bugging out.” Gizmo snorts, his four legged apparatus pushing him into the air as he looks at your form; No doubt confused that you were not the titans.

“Who the hell are you? Some sort-a wannabe hero?” He taunts, gesturing one of the mechanical legs towards you.

While you certainly hear the teen that was now towering over you and you can’t help but grin. Having a mask on was doing your confidence wonders as you speak up.

“I didn’t know pre-school let out early on fridays.” You say, the sarcasm dripping from your voice before turning to address the group of hostages that the duo had wrangled up.

“HEY! Are any of you missing your child? I appear to have found him!” You insist, when suddenly you feel that tingling in your head and jump back.

Going into a trio of backflips you fire off a pair of webs at the apex of the last one, bouncing yourself up and away from a shot of pink energy. Now suspended off the ground by your twin webs you look to the two of them.

“Easy kids easy, maybe if you ask nicely the teller will give you a lollipop.” You taunt, letting go and sprinting towards them.

Between a hail of yellow and pink bolts you flip, twist and jerk out of the their path; Your reflexes more than fast enough to keep ahead of them. Sliding beneath Gizmo’s walking backpack you shoot your webs out behind you, catching the front legs as you continue to slip beneath him. Kicking off the ground you are propelled up onto Gizmo’s shoulders, the webs you had fired turning your forward momentum into vertical force. Springboarding off the teen you hear him shout as his body is suddenly forced down towards the ground.

A quick spray of web later and you that leaves one down, one to go.

Landing just behind the fallen Gizmo you look to Jinx, a smirk concealed behind your mask.

“You know I wouldn’t be against you surrendering, I’d put a good word in for ya if you did.” You insist, jokingly putting your hands above your head in example. “Whaddya say?”

It seems for a moment that she actually considers it before she holds her hands up, putting her wrists together as she approaches you. You’re about to web up her wrists when she suddenly moves way faster than you had anticipated. At first you think she is going to strike you but when that usual tingling sensation doesn’t hit you are confused.

However you shiver when you feel the oddly warm touch of her finger trail its way up your chest to your chin. “Hmm you know, you’re not so bad up close. Not as lean as the boy wonder but I liiikke it.” She purrs and you feel your brain quickly disconnect.

“W-what?” You stammer.

The next thing you feel is what you assume getting hit by a car would feel like as you are lifted off your feet and down the lobby. Managing to catch yourself you skid to a halt and glare at her as she laughs.

“You’re cute for sure.”

You end it quick, quickly webbing her mouth shut before pulling her towards you with the same web. Punching her with a quick jab to the stomach you watch the web around her mouth bulge before she goes limp. You mutter to yourself about the fact that you had been played like an idiot but you pay it no mind, tossing her atop the still squirming Gizmo.

Springing into a cartwheel you barely manage to escape a column of lockboxes that suddenly rocketed from the inside of the blown open vault. Landing a good fifteen feet away you groan as you realize you had forgotten about Mammoth. Jinx, Gizmo and MAMMOTH had been the usual trio, and in your rush to take out the first two you had forgotten about the muscle of the trio. Watching the aforementioned brute step out of the vault he glares at you, cracking his knuckles in preparation.

“Easy big guy, you’re gonna have to pay for that you know.” You insist, however your voice drops off a bit as given his size and evident strength was something you might not be able to walk away from.

However as he charges towards you it becomes apparent that you were going to have to find out now.

Surging forward you’re upon him before he expects, lashing out with a pair of quick jabs; They do nothing however and it feels more akin to punching warm concrete. Bending back you watch one of his massive forearms pass before you, hopping into a handstand and launching yourself feet first. You feel his jaw snap back but still the tingling sensation hits you as his hands grip your forearms, slamming you back into the marble floor.

You hear the ground crack as you groan, your body having been used as a meaty hammer. Before you could even register the dull throb of the impact you feel yourself being lifted again, being slammed again into the slight crater you had already made. You were seeing stars but as you felt yourself going up again you refused.

Use me as a hammer once, shame on you; Use me as a hammer twice, shame on me But if you were gonna do it a third time there was gonna be trouble.

Lashing out with your leg you kick at his left arm, knocking it away and leaving you dangling. Pressing your feet to the arm that still trapped you you press hard and force yourself free, landing yourself in a crouched position. Firing off a pair of webs at the hulking teens wrists you pull hard, yanking him towards you; He goes to swipe at you but you jump above him, continuing to spray strands of webs over the boy. You continue this process of darting around Mammoth, webbing and coating the boy in the fibrous sticky webbing, his movements and actions becoming slower and slower until he’s practically a writhing cocoon.

When he finally stops wriggling and just glares at you is when you finally stop, pressing yourself against a desk and panting.

“You know big guy, It’s my first time so uh...thanks for going easy on me.” You say between pants, getting a glare and muffled statement in return.

Looking to the hostages you nod towards the open door “Go, I can keep watch over them while you get to safety.” You say loudly, though no one moves at first.

“Go!” You shout, and this time people start running for the exit.

Sighing you’re about to set yourself on the desk and get ready to wait when you hear the cry of “Titan’s go!” And through the smoke you see a number of figures begin to push through. You already knew the silhouettes before they cleared and you couldn’t help but smile behind your smile.

You had always expected to be someone on the sidelines hearing that, but you had never thought you would be front and center.

When Robin finally lands opposite the plume of smoke you feel the confusion behind his domino mask. You simply give a wave and give a single cheerful word.

“Hello!”
