The Raiders – Part 43

You can't say you're surprised. Talvek struck you as a self centered asshole before you actually met him. Him ordering Lywedra to kill you just proves that he doesn't like losing his toys, and would prefer them broken than out of his control. Lywedra, suffering from a sickening effect the knight placed one her and undoubtedly injured as well, looks tired. Not angry, not upset, certainly not surprised; just....tired. You're not particularly soft hearted, but no githyanki should look like they're tired of living.

There's no doubt that you could easily defeat her – she's in no condition to fight someone like you, much less Talvek or his minions. It's a sacrifice play intended to kill Lywedra, and nothing more. He doesn't seem to like the idea of you taking her away from him, yet he didn't really challenge your claim. His cadre is well aware he's just sentenced her to die, more or less. On the other hand, she might not bother.

Standing up straight, she looks at you, her eyes glazed and beads of sweat still dripping from her fevered face. She looks at you, and you smile warmly, inviting her to do as she wishes. A few seconds more, she shakes her head. “Kill me yourself, Lord Talvek. Fighting Akko would be about as amusing for you as me killing a feral. Less, most likely.” You grin wider, baring the tips of your spurs.

Talvek bares his own spurs in disgust and irritation and starts towards her, drawing the shining blade named Nogori, his fearsome weapon heavily barbed along one side and shining with Bane and Speed magics granted by his link to Her Majesty as a knight. He has every right to kill her – he still holds her Oath – but you outrank him by far, and while Siobhan lies upon your bedding pallet, she can be in your hand in an instant.

[] Save Lywedra at the last second using nothing more than what you have on you.
[] Use one off the Force Sword spells and arm yourself with that alone and duel for her.
[] Summon Siobhan and challenge his oaths with claim of superiority and strength.
[] Warn him that you'll defend her; does he really want to fight you himself? Can he?
[] Drop a Quickened Shatter on his armor and hit him with a Rigor Mortis spell for challenging your will at all.
[] Write in?
With great amusement Siobhan is relaying this entire scene to Yzia....

Akko, Akatmosoko, like all her kind, has a measure of psychic ability. She will simply use most of these powers without prompting, instinctively, when appropriate. Her spells are another matter.

With great amusement Siobhan is relaying this entire scene to Yzia....
[X] Drop a Quickened Shatter on his armor and hit him with a Rigor Mortis spell for challenging your will at all.

You gesture and say a word, and sparks fly as your Shatter spell crashes into his armor and fails to do anything useful at all. Talvek grins menacingly – at least attempts to, you have sex with dragons on a regular basis and fear isn't really a big deal to you – and hefts his blade. Lywedra pulls her own but you step in front of her as Talvek charges.

The incantation is short and you deliver the spell with through one gauntleted fist as you step in front of Lywedra and slam your fist into the male's gut, the spell erupting through the contact and engulfing him in blue-black radiance for a few seconds. While the impact of your fist is nearly negligible to the powerfully build knight aside from stopping him in his tracks (no small feat), the spell is not nearly so easily ignored. He screams as his body is wracked with terrible pain, his joints cracking and swelling as the magical affliction subsumes his body.

“Such defiance,”' you murmur softly, “is sorely misplaced. I am no mystic or skulker to be casually manhandled or dismissed, you pathetic little worm. Your power stems from Her Majesty's will – and my desires are hers.” Talvek's response is immediate: he lashes out with Nogori, who passes through the Displaced image of you harmlessly. You reach over and grasp his hair as you lift your knee, slamming his face into your armored knee and crushing his face against it twice. With sapphire blood erupting from his nose and mouth he stumbles back on his knees and you take a quick glance around.

His cadre seems unsurprised by this turn of events, and not really inclined to assist him. The dragon rider and his dragon – a lithe little golden skinned female with eyes of flame – seem amused more than anything else. Talvek staggers to his feet and tightens his grip about Nogori's hilt. You can sense through the mystic connection to magic you possess that Nogori is communicating with him, the unusually powerful Silver Sword trying to reason with him, undoubtedly. You tilt your head and gold one hand up, making a loose fist of it.

[] Summon Siobhan – if he wants to make a show of it....you can definitely accommodate that.
[] Use one of your Spell Scarred Force Swords and conjure a simple force blade. He's not even worth troubling Siobhan for.
[] Ask him if he truly wants to die that badly, in front of his cadre, over a female he doesn't even like.
[] Invoke the Attendance of Silver Swords and countermand Talvek's Oaths for Lywedra as were-gild for assaulting a superior githyanki.
[] The Mythically Maximized Ray of Enfeeblement will take the fight out of him completely.

[X] Use one of your Spell Scarred Force Swords and conjure a simple force blade. He's not even worth troubling Siobhan for.
[X] The Mythically Maximized Ray of Enfeeblement will take the fight out of him completely.
[X] Invoke the Attendance of Silver Swords and countermand Talvek's Oaths for Lywedra as were-gild for assaulting a superior githyanki.

You incant the spell aloud, the scars along your left arm turning to shimmering blue vapor and sliding from beneath your armor to form a shimmering blade of crystalline force. A touch of the arcane force around you guides your mind to focus on his weakness, those chinks in his style and armor that will leave him supremely vulnerable. It will only last seconds, but it is far more than you will need.

“You are not even worth troubling Siobhan over, Talvek,” you inform him. “I am going to put you down like an animal and leave you to your cadre to deal with.”

He grits his teeth, and coruscating green energies erupt around his free hand as he hefts his own blade. The spell he incants is that of Leaden Blades, but he'll never get the opportunity to land a blow; he finishes the spell and his guard drops for one fatal instant, as it inevitably will.

You step in and drive the shimmering blade into his side, a spell almost falling from your lips as you pour power into the blade, focusing the Enfeeblement spell that you have enhanced with not only the Elder Power but your knowledge of how to intensify the effects. Thee next blow carries a wash of grey flame from your hand through the blade and into his body, and he screams again, this an anguished cry of pain that is almost akin to a feral's death cry; the green flames about his hand are extinguished as his concentration falters. He doesn't collapse entirely under the weight of his armor, but his weakness is so vast that when he parries you knock both Nogori and Talvek to the ground next to you, leaving him supine.
>>
Rather than casually slicing his throat and leaving him to bleed out, you simply half-fall on him, both hands gripping the hilt of the conjured blade. The knight shrieks as you pin him to the ground with the Force Sword, driving it nearly a foot into the ground beneath him. “You can't even be considered practice for fighting a githzerai warrior, you pathetic excuse for a knight.” You twist the blade slightly, the wound spilling shimmering blood from the front of his armor as well as underneath as you do so.

Talvek draws breath to cry out, but you lean into the blade and shove it several inches deeper. “Do be silent; do your order this much credit, at least.” He hisses, a long drawn out his of pain as he glares up at you with eyes only slightly lighter than yours. “Better.” You stand up straight, as he grasps the blade, trying to hold it in place so you do not turn it any further. His weakness is such that he can't even move the blade at all while you grasp the hilt. Lywedra is smiling as you loom over the defeated knight.

”ATTEND.”You voice rings through the cavern as you call upon the Silver Swords; Nogori and several other silver swords nearby focus their attention upon you, and Siobhan whispers sweetly into your mind. We Attend, my beloved.

What would an Inquiry do? Aren't the Leaders authorized to abuse their people and send them to their death?
>>
>>2285072
Yes, but incompetence or weak minds can be a boon to the illithids - or worse - and as a result, if you call his ability to be a Leader into question, inquisitors and knights must take such an accusation seriously (especially during a raid). Dunzamn, being the highest ranked knight as well as Supreme Leader, cannot allow a weak leader to be an issue. They may find him worthy, of course, in which case he just has to bear the humiliation of having his leadership qualities questioned; that alone will make it more difficult for him to pull a cadre together.

Technically you could leave him wounded and bleeding, and leave him alone. [X] Write in? Denouncing a fool like this and ensuring he can never be a liability is a boon to the War.
[X] Claim Lywedra and denounce him as Leader
[X] Claim only Lywedra and his life.

“As a Ranking Gish, I denounce Talvek as a Leader, incapable of working towards the extermination of the enemy and a liability due to his incompetence and inability. I release from Oath his cadre, and as were-gild I claim nothing. I declare the Silver Cord Severed and enforce my Will so!”

Talvek's reaction is predictably – he screams and tries to raise Nogori to assault you. You turn your gaze upon him, your eye flashing as you brutally invade his mind, ripping neurons and synapses asunder and flooding it with electrochemical overload. He can't even resist; his body too damaged and his mind too unfocused. He convulses, dropping Nogori, and then lies still, his eyes glazing as his body finishes what his brain has already accomplished: dying.

It is Observed and Recorded. The sense of the Silver Swords' acceptance of your sentence and execution is night overwhelming as you leave the sword in the rapidly dying body.

Turning, you step over to Lywedra and lay your hand upon her shoulder as she shivers, still fevered by the touch of the Cruelty Talvek inflicted on her. “I claim Lywedra as a member of my Cadre, and swear to lead and guide her to greatness, until the Oath is dissolved or the Silver Cord Severed.”

“I give my life and death over to Leader Akko's guidance and mastery, in hopes I serve the Cause and Her Majesty to the utmost of my ability, until the Oath is dissolved or the Silver Cord Severed.” She salutes you, her eyes upon yours, her small smile grateful.

The Record is Complete. Siobhan adds a little touch of amusement and interest in your choices, a personal observation she does not share with the other Silver Swords.

Turning on the members of his cadre, who are wary and not a little afraid of you, you gesture magnanimously. “Seek out other cadres, or return to the Stronghold as you wish. Divide up whatever remains after his debts and oaths are cleared between yourselves.” they look quite relieved for the most part, and the dragon rider inclines his head, while his human-formed dragon presses close to him, rather possessively in your opinion. Abide..”
>>
We Abide. the lack of their attention upon you leaves you feeling a touch jittery; it wasn't like that before. But then again you weren't quite the same sort of creature last time you called upon their power.

Lywedra shudders and you murmur a cantrip, a cooling breeze washing over her and cleansing her of sweat. “How long does this usually last?”

The warrior shakes her head. “Not long, little more than a turning. I'll be fine shortly.” You nod, and consider your options.

[] You can afford to burn a touch more arcane force to learn Teleport and return to the lair that way.
[] Carry Lywedra in Flight back to your encampment; you haven't princess carried anyone in a while.

[XX] Carry Lywedra in Flight back to your encampment; you haven't princess carried anyone in a while.
[X] Ask Lywedra if she needs to collect anything immediately from this place.
[X] Write in? Such as perhaps Talvek's life?

“Do you have any property or tools that you would need to take away with you before we leave?” She starts to shake her head, then looks thoughtful. “Perhaps your once-leader's remaining life?”

Lywedra looks down at the gasping corpse of Talvek, and seems honestly surprised that he still lives. “I think there might be some knights who would find him useful,” she comments mildly. She draws herself up, ignoring the illness that Talvek inflicted upon her, and lifts one foot....bringing it down upon his head with such force that his skull and face literally explodes in a spray of ichors and blood, his brain pulverized into blue-green sludge. “If they want him, they can pay a steeper price for it.”

Leaning in and drawing a stray lock away from Lyw's face, you take in her scent near her neck. “I always enjoy that about you,” you murmur, as she flushes slightly. You catch the burning eyes of the dragon, and her immediate realization that you might be more interested in her – or at least females – seems to mollify her quite a bit.

'What?”

“How discreetly vindictive you are, accepting that others might disagree but can pay a higher price for their desires than you are willing to let them enjoy.” Her smile is delicate and shy, and only makes you puff a soft breath along her ear, making the powerful warrior shy away. “Hurry along. The Gardeners will be here soon, and you will not wish to lose the prize you've decided on.” The other members of the cadre are splitting off, speaking in pairs for the most part, though one or two slink away without a word. The dragon and her rider are speaking telepathically with one another.

She nods agreeably, taking no offense at your slightly overbearing – no, perhaps, matronly – suggestion. Their encampment is inset into the stone of the caver, partitioned and separated by thinner stone walls, undoubtedly Stone Shaped by typically unimaginative guild members of the Creative caste. The warrior locates his room and enters the closed room by the simple expedient of shattering the door with gauntleted fists. She's improved since last you Raided together, the door not even resisting the first strike and shattering at the second.
>>
The stench is immediate and overwhelming; she turn aside and retches violently, tongue lolling and gripping her gorget. You simply ignore it; the ripe scent of decay is something that has never bothered you, and you're not really sure why. The sight two slaves beaten to death is not really surprising. The one that killed herself, a large flake of stone fallen and broken on the floor from the hand ling off his sleeping pallets is a little more surprising. The arterial spray actually hit the ceiling; it takes dedication to manage that with a piece of stone and while collared in iron. Her bruises are deep and dark, repeated ones; she would have eventually ended as the others.

You glance around, and see what your new Cadre member was undoubtedly looking for. A knapsack, rife with conjuration and divination and transmutations. You pick it up and step back into the corridor. Holding it up as she tries to catch her breath, she nods shortly, and takes a strap with shaking hand.

Sweeping her off her feet startles her and she tenses for a single and very intense second, but she relaxes, slowly. You smile and slide one ankle-cuff against the other, and Fly from the chamber and the encampment. You catch glimpse of several Gardeners....and a trio of knights, one mid-ranked and the other two lower. It's impossible that they don't see you but they make no attempt to communicate with you.

Siobhan thinks it's almost a pity, really; you admonish her....just a little.

[X] Take your time returning to camp; there's a good vantage point nearby to study the Lair.

You take a rather circuitous route towards your encampment; and locate a relatively safe and somewhat isolated vantage point to settle down on. There's no reason to embarrass Lywedra by returning her to the camp while she ill, especially with a mystic illness inflicted by a knight. First impressions are important, and Schechei is judgmental enough to let a first impression fool her.

Though watching Lywedra smack her around a little if she gets bitchy might be amusing.

Siobhan mildly comments on your own sadistic streak. Yes, but I am tasteful about it. Her delight is a wash of pleasure and teasing joy. What can you tell me of the mental states or reactions of that trio of knights I saw, beloved? If you manage something impressive, perhaps I may be able to convince Lywedra to play with us both. Her eager response is both greedy and lustful, and she focuses her attention elsewhere as you make a landing.

The stone shelf that overlooks the rapidly growing Lair is ideal in position to look over encampments and the wide courtyard where the arena and sigils of power are being laid out. The guild members and slaves toiling to arrange the place work hard, and there are a number of githyanki observing and enjoying the sights and pleasures to be taken between battles. Still trembling, the lovely warrior divests herself of the knapsack and sets it aside, before turning to look at the view you have found for her to take pleasure in.

Walking up behind her, you take her braid and begin disassembling it, attaching the fasteners onto your regalia as you do so. With the cantrip still active you cleanse her hair as well as working with it using Telekinetic forces to change her braid into a much more decorous plait. A few slender gemstone bars and rods woven with the plait makes her already sickness-flushed cheeks darken as she feel you put them in. “How did you manage to end up with a sadistic little would-be overlord like that?” you murmur, enjoying the softness of her hair. It's a darker shade than yours, a brown-black obsidian instead of pearly black, and waved from the constant braiding.

“Mmnh....someone sold my debt to him; a pair of breeding slaves, lovely creatures that I wanted more of. Maenad, they called themselves. Their flesh has a crystalline matrix or symbiote organism, and they are not sexually dimorphic, all appearing feminine in the humanoid manner. Twins are common amongst them.” Her mental image of them that she shares reveals pale humanoids with cracks or veins in their flesh that seem to have been filled with fire opal in one case and water opal in the other; you can't tell which is which from what you can see, though she indicates that the red-veined one is the male of the two. “The female is quite vicious, almost insane; the male is calm enough and keeps her in check.”

“They are lovely....you breed them to one another?” She smiles shyly and glances sidelong and back at you. “You darling little voyeur, you like seeing two females have sex, despite your natural preference.” That makes her blush deeply and she looks away. “Wicked creature. I take it they were relatively expensive?”

“Enough so that I could be requested to join a cadre. Unfortunately, it was Talvek's rather than Reveta's. Reveta might have demanded sexual favors on occasion, but he wasn't particularly brutish. I probably would have enjoyed that duty.” She sighs as you finish the plait and settles onto the rock. You kneel behind her and slip your arms over her shoulder and lean on her, watching the sights below. “Still worthwhile. She's pregnant by the by, if you would like one of your own as a gift.”

“I would be honored,” you murmur, the gift not meant to cancel any debt but literally that – a gift to please you. “As far as your debt is concerned, I will not be unreasonable. We have time. I do need to know the status of your skills. I see you carry a sword, rather than the twinned blades....”

“Oh, I still have those. I still prefer those. The sword was to keep Talvek from trying to claim my darling weapons. I haven't changed the focus off my combat in the slightest. I thought dealing with the door made that obvious.” Lyw almost sounds surprised and you smile, wrapping one hand about her gorget and stroking her eat lightly, teasing the edge of it and making her lean her head back and make a small, interested noise.

“I endeavor not to assume such things.” Siobhan informs you that the knights refused to let the Gardeners take the body or Nogori, and their return was not to their own cadres but to the encampment of the Supreme Leader. Though she couldn't read the higher ranked one, she was able to detect consternation and frustration from the other two. Not small amounts either. They apparently expected more of Talvek.

“I have graduated to the skills of shattering and breaking; mere metals cannot withstand my blows, even adamant. I did strangle an incubus to death with my bare hands.” She senses your doubt. “Well, perhaps 'strangle' isn't quite the word; I broke his spine and then tore his neck apart until he died.” You agree silently that the explanation sounds more reasonable as such creatures are unnaturally resilient in your experience. “I have been gratified to be able to keep my pretty blades and I have honed my skill to the point that I do as much destruction with them as with my bare hands.”

“You have progressed far,” you murmur, moving close enough to tease her other ear with your lips. “If we were not both in need of some rest, I would take you back now and have you demonstrate for the pretty acolytes I have. They are twins as well, though you will be impressed by them.” Her thinking is towards humans or maenads, rather than twins of your species of course.

She bites her lip and shivers at your caresses. You do notice she isn't sweating or flushed with sickness any longer, though she's certainly flushed. “Must we return to your encampment to rest?” she asks softly. You make your curiosity clear and Siobhan chides you for being dense. “I know that Talvek keeps certain things in his travel case for impromptu camps....as you carry such things, or used to.”

“Are you asking for me to ply you with the attention you seek, my lovely Lyw?” Your heated breath along her ear makes her shiver, and she runs her hands across her armor over her breasts. “Ah.” Leaning back, you begin to unbuckle and unfasten her plate armor, and she assists slowly. “It has been a long time....still prefer men and myself?”

Lywedra murmurs in your mind. Rather, she agrees, but admits that she has missed your attentions despite her preference for men, and would rather have your attention to herself alone for the first time. She is well aware that Yzia would love to join any sexual escapade you start.

“Siobhan is looking forward to you as well....if you are not careful, you might find a much more exciting sadist in Tzanzi if she allows herself to be possessed by Siobhan.” That rather alarms the lovely warrior, and you laugh softly as you lightly set spurs to shoulder and give her a bruising bite. She arches and gasps loudly, and bite her lip hard enough that her spurs leave s trickle of sapphire blood along her lip. You don't intend to be all that sadistic, actually, but she does like it somewhat rough. From you, at least. I see no reason not to indulge you, Lywedra, my pretty victim.

If it pleases you, my Leader.... she agrees, before shedding armor for you.

That took logner than I expected.

Thank you for Readign and Playing; Depending on my state of or lack of intoxication, and how difficult my life is being today, I may continue this tonight at midnight. Whether I do or not, there will be some muscle-bound punch-girl+Akko sex at least.

With Tzanzi's penchant for claws and teeth and Aeuna's grappling, her combat style will fit in well at the very least. Kteine will have the full gamut of combat styles to choose from (Schechei prefers sword and spell already).
