You are Jeremiah Sol, a newly transferred student to Erebus academy in the city State of Nileth. In a span of a week, you got to know the workabouts about your new life under your guardian, Miss Lilim.

Currently, You (and other non elves) would go to Va'lashe Book store where you would buy necessary books for your current year.
>>
___________
Thursday, 8th of January - Star dust -

Even in the morning, the tension was still lingering. The daily Nileth had a giant headline about the trial on its front page. The presence of Elven police in full gear had almost double in a single night. They had eyes in almost every street in Uri square.

Miss Lilim had a really old cyan car, by the looks of it, she didn't gave it much love or care. It was rather spacious though; five can sit comfortably.

"I can't stress the importance of behaving yourselves when we will be there...especially after..." she paused in order not to stir more anger "Five will be coming with me for the first ride. The book store closes at 6 PM so please hurry."

You almost got no clean clothes,You were sure a laundromat was nearby. After asking others around, you found that it was merely ten minutes from the pods. How lucky.

You left miss Lilim and headed for The white stag . It was a strange choice of a name for a place like this but oh well.

A strange dryad in a white garnished robe was smoking hookah infront of the laundry while enjoying a cup of morning tea, Most of her skin and overgrowth were awfully white and pale. Her white horns were on par with male dyrads except far more branched out and twisted.

Looks like there was none inside, not that it mattered though; there were washing machines for everyone.

"What's your name, boy?" She huffed mango-scented smoke at your face with an uncaring look in her face.

"No reason, I am still calling you boy." She inhaled quietly "Normal or Sap?"

"Huh?"

She stood up from her comfortable chair slightly annoyed "25 Pons for a regular wash, 50 for a good wash with my...sap." She flashed a gentle smile "Softer and cleaner than anything in the market. A nice smell too."

"Use anyone you like, don't forget the dryer. You paid for it"

"Thank you...eh..." You didn't know her name.

" Miss stag for you boy." She returned back to her chair finishing the last of her warm tea.

It really smelled nice inside. whether it was from this 'sap' or something else, you had no idea. you stuffed your dirty clothes inside one of the washing machines. You had already rinsed the the puke riddled jacket before putting it in; you didn't want bits of burgers all over your clean clothes.

You stayed put for an hour and a half before getting your clothes back. There was little to do except for listening to Miss Stag's foreign but catchy hum.

Of all the languages, Dryad was the most complex ones. A single word could have a dozen meaning, it all depended on how it was pronounced.

You looked at your watch, It was 10:37 AM . More were soon to arrive, perhaps it was a good think to go to the laundry earlier (a bit boring though).

Your phone rang, a strange number was calling you. "Hello?"

"Are you Jeremiah Sol, a human minor residing in Lilim's pods?"

"Yeah," you answered "Who's this?"

"Mareketh, from the department of social services. I am obliged to ask you about your well being once a month. Is there anyone harassing you?" The elf sounded totally forced. He didn't want to do this at all.

"All's fine." You confirmed "Good, Call this number when you are in real trouble. We are not fond of pranks or any useless calls."

With that said, you shrugged it off and left the laundry.

"Come again, ugh..." The dryad coughed a bit when two policemen were approaching. Those two elves didn't look friendly at all.

With fresh and clean clothes, you had little reason to be here. As you were leaving, you saw the elves hammering Miss Stag with questions, she retained her same composure unyielding to the rather vulgar officers. As the conversation was getting heated, you saw a couple of humans, orcs and a centaur shifting their attention to the ruckus. She gracefully flicked her hand In response, not a second later everyone returned to their own business. The elven officer left the scene soon afterwards unsatisfied and defeated.

You returned back to the pods. Miss Lilim had arrived for the second ride, those with her had different assortment of books; Some new and some used. She asked for another five to get in the car. Cassandra quickly hopped into the front seat fiddling with the radio already.

You and three other entered the car. You sat behind Cassandra. Miss Lilim checked her purse for extra cashing before turning on the engine.
_______

The scenery around you slowly started to change the further you got close to the heart of Nileth. Uri square was at the far edge almost segregated from the elven districts. You felt an obvious change in architecture around. The streets were clean, more green in the middle of the street and better infrastructure in general. There were little to no policemen around. All wore regular uniform, no extra gear.

Everything was in Elven, you found a hard time translating what was on the signs. A good sum of passerby looked more relaxed and happier than the faces you regularly saw in Uri square.

"We are here!" announced Miss Lilim enthusiastically. The book store was massive . You and the others were astonished by its size. It had this distinctive retro style to it contrasting brightly against the modern architecture around it.

"Don't stray too far, okay?" Miss Liliam sounded like a concerned mother as everyone spread out like children in a candy shop. Once inside you saw endless shelves resting on authentic and ancient wooden floor, despite its name, it also had soundproofed reading corners (on the second floor) which would make the academy's library shrivel up in shame. There was this smell of old books, to avid readers, it was like heaven on earth.

"Oh hello there, I half expected you to see you today." Vlan, in a green staff outfit, greeted you warmly.

>Good to see you Vlan

"Thank you, that smell..." he drew close to you whispering in your ear "It is a family secret. I will have to wait a couple of decades before i gain enough trust to know it."

"Really?"

"I am not some royalty you know. I only inherit my family's name, the rest i have to earn and build by myself." He looked at Miss Lilim who was standing near the entrance "Shouldn't you be looking for our curriculum books? Your caretaker looks awfully worried."

Vlan led you to the books you needed where you found two large separate stacks. One new, the other used. Both contained the same materials but the used ones held the unwritten knowledge of previous owners. You briefly looked at the prices of new and used books:

Botany: 50 new , 30 used

Biology: 70 new, 50 used

Home economics: 40 new, 25 used

Elven Language: 120 new, 80 used

Poetry : 40 new, 30 used

Chemistry: 80 new, 60 used

Math: 100 new, 75 used

Physics: 110 new, 45 used

History [All]: 400 new, 250 used

Geo studies: 50 new, 30 used

Art: 60 new, 40 used

Yeesh, that's a lot of pon to spend. Miss Lilim would be spending in grands today.

You got the three books you were missing. You checked out with the rest, Cassandra bought those fluffy pens mainly because they looked pretty, her books were exclusively new. Poor Miss Lilim though, she was dealing with one of the staff next to the counter churning out lots of pons for the guy.

Your haul was a mixed bag:

-3 Large Notebooks : 60 pons
-1 Sketchbook: 30 pons
- Botany Book (Terrible): 30 pons
- Biology Book (Decent): 50 pons
- Home economics Book (Mediocre): 25 pons
- Elven Language Book (Decent): 80 pons
- Poetry Book (Terrible) : 30 pons
- Chemistry Book (Decent): 60 pons
- Math Book (Terrible) : 75 pons
- Physics Book (Mediocre) : 45 pons
- History Books (Terrible): 250 pons
- Geo studies Book (Pristine): 30 pons
- Art Book (Decent) : 40 pons
__________

TOTAL: 765 pons

Everyone was more or less happy with what they had got. Miss Lilim asked if anyone was missing anything twice before leaving the bookstore.

Looks like you had a less stellar haul compared to the rest, those snarky elves at your class might give you a stinky eye.
________

The traffic on the way back was congested mainly because of an accident in one of the main streets. It was 1:04 AM when you arrived to the pods.

You took the daily Nileth from one of the seniors around after she finished it, she admitted that she mainly buy it for the Sudoku puzzles at the end.

Other than the heavy coverage of the trial and the reactions of famous individuals, there was little that interested you. The new Elven Lokk coach was gearing his team up for a rematch against another city state team.

There was some talk about providing free transportation services to students but said decision was still in the making. May the high council was trying to butter up the non elves a bit? you had no idea. You fiddled a bit with a crossword puzzle before giving up halfway through.

Later, you went to your pod to check on your ever growing finances.

You called the modelling number once more, hopefully, you would get an answer this time.

"Hi, who's calling?" the network was pretty terrible, you stepped outside for better reception.

"You posted an ad looking for 'young models'?"

"Oh tsssh eah! I tttth !" The voice was barely audible "I was getting desperate! Come by the Uriel statue to talk, I will be Mzzzth right there!" The call ended abruptly.

" YAY! " you turned you head to see Cassandra hopping from joy; she was holding onto something " LOOK! LOOK!"

It was hard to focus with her bobbing about but eventually you spotted it. It was one of these promotional tickets to Three Quacks, two soups . So it wasn't just a cheap market tactics, huh.

"So...." Her skin went pale for a moment. She whipped out the next sentence in lighting speed "Wannagooutwithme?"

You never saw her as thrilled as right now, there was little time to waste; the movie would be starting in less than hour. The two of you caught the first bus to head to Uri square onto the theater.

The Mandos was underground, its stairs were next to the subway's. It was recently renovated, the smell of new paint was a bit annoying for some around. It was already crowded with heavy elven presence. According to the ticket you had, you could take a seat in a designated row in the front, back or middle.

Cassandra chose the front seats for you two. The movie was about to start in five minutes.

"Ooo, bathroom time..." She left you momentarily and went to the women's bathroom. Your phone was ringing but the reception was terrible underground.

Movie trailers were rolling once you were inside. An usher guided you to your front seats, you gave him 2 pons for his service. He looked at you begrudgingly before leaving. To your surprise, your row was almost empty. You couldn't say the same for the back rows, it was packed with groups of fours and eights. Whether they were applying no single policies or not, you had no idea.

Lying wasn't your stronger suit. You told her the truth. There was silence then a long sigh "I am letting this pass because i am desperate , but expect no pay for this time . Timing means everything to me. how long is the movie?"

You glanced at the theater's schedule "Two hours."

"Hmmm, call me when you are done and DONT leave me waiting." just like that, the call has ended.

You had little time to think about it, you rushed back to your seat missing the first couple of minutes.

The first act seemed really childish and downright insulting to grown up. For a second you felt like you had entered the wrong movie but just as the second act kicked in, the theme completely changed from a space hero bringing justice to the galaxy to existential dread and more deep messages to the viewer.

The movie ended with the hero sitting on a wheelchair with his future self both having soup while a malformed fetus struggled to exist in this hot scorching desert.

Solar winds painfully began to strip their uncaring flesh of their bones as an entity appeared offscreen. The two ducks, on the verge of death smiled briefly as the desret was quickly turning into bubbling glass.

The movie had ended.

Most of the elves around here clapped and cheered at director and other actors when the credits rolled. The rest had a puzzled look on their faces ; it was really hard to go connect what seemingly appeared to be incoherent mess of scenes. The director's way of storytelling was unorthodox to say the least.

"What do you think?" you asked Cassandra on your way out.

"I liked it!" She grinned "But i got lost in the end, i have so many questions, booo."

After heading back to the streets, Cassandra excused you for a quick call, she returned with a childish grin on her face "That was great! Thanks Jeremiah. We gotta do this again later!"

I will be real with you, no one must find out about this in the academy for your own sake. My job as a teacher is less of a concern compared to my art career . i must get over my art block."

"Good, good." She pulled out her car keys. "Come on, my studio isn't far."
_________

For the second time, you were going to an elven district, Icheal heights . The closest one to Uri square. The whole districts was built on unequal hills. The streets there were swirly, never straight. Her red car was so tiny, you were cooped up inside but you remained silent for the rest of the way. There was this lingering tension between you two; everything was screaming into your mind that it was wrong to be here. It felt like one of the cheap prompt in adult movies.

"Home sweet home." Miss Gallel exclaimed turning off the radio (which did little to ease things up anyways). It was a three floored modern house littered with weird statues of various shapes and sizes.

"W-wait here." Miss Gallel left you in the car for the moment, you heard something coming from inside but it was too muffled. An Elven officer was eyeing you, suspicion ever growing inside him. It soon was extinguished when Miss Gallel took you inside.

The house was....something. Paintings, empty Canvases, unfinished/broken statues. It must be hell to live in here with all these dead eyes looking at you.

The Elf led you to a room, a mostly empty one. "Do you want Mommy to make some sandwiches? we're...gonna stay here for a while."

"Mommy knows best!" She disappeared into her kitchen, minutes later, she returned with three toast sandwiches, each with some meat in it?

You cautionary sank your teeth in one of them, an explosion of succulence bombarded your mouth, you still were clueless about what you were eating though.

"Elven products." She winked "Expensive one too, you finished?"

You nodded, she took the empty plate away and brought a small wooden chair with her "Cutie, please sit down."

"I want you to stay verrrrrry still looking at this space duck." She pulled out the same green rubber duck you had from Grun'n' Sunk " Ignore me completely. I need to study every corner of you very, very carefully."

Your eyes kept flickering as Miss Gallel kept circling around you like a hungry vulture waiting for its prey to expire. You skipped a beat or two when she was getting really close in those weird angles.

You broke out of your frozen pose instinctively backing away when she was an inch away from your face.

Miss Gallel sighed for a moment "Mommy needs you to relax. Being Stiff as a plank won't help anyone. How about some music? What's your jam?" she showed you four DVDs with different genres of music.

The vulturing continued, you poured all of your attention to the space duck. In your mind, certain scenes of three quacks two soups were playing over and over again. You discovered hidden and important plot points in the movie. You mentally praised the director for his subtly.

You were staring to have tunnel vision from focusing too much on the duck, your other sense where starting to dull in turn, you could no longer feel Miss Gallel around you, occasionally a faint of her breathe or her perfume would registered in your mind, still unaffecting you.

This trance state stopped when Miss Gallel turned off the DVD player which was more or less white noise "Very good cutie, I got more studies to make before getting serious but it is getting late for you. I will drive you back to Uriel square, Mommy can't be seen around your home, yeah?"

You were mentally exhausted by the time you reached home, your headache was something fierce. It was almost Curfew time.

Miss Lilim was waiting for you in the garden tapping her foot impatiently.

"I see." She gave you no further reaction, just a quick scribble on her small note.

You were about to sit when you saw something written on Shiwe's desk Theraowel . It was in elven but you weren't sure what it meant. Other Elven girl snickered the moment Shiwe arrived.

The Albino orc stared deeply at this word, The next second, she slammed her text books over it. Everyone around went silent for a moment then the girls burst into cruel laughter whispering at each other ear.

Shiwe sank her head on her arms then dropped it all the way to her desk until Miss Liyah had arrived with her morning coffee. She looked doubly exhausted than last time.

She coughed repeatedly her voice and crackled up and poor "You got your books? Otherwise, get out." Three students didn't have their books. They were kicked out immediately.

You were starting to doze off a bit, this class was too boring "Like hell you don't!" a surge of anger emerged from the sickly teacher "Solve this differential equation in three minutes page four, now!"

You looked down your worn book and found out that it was already solved by its previous owner. She gave you her marker to write the solution on the white board.

"The cash for the roe, partner." You gave her the money.

"I forgot about this, thank you Jeremiah." She quietly went back to her desk paying little attention to the elven word taunting her.

Next up was Mr. Quinith, "Good Morning class, I hope you have been studying last week. Don't waste your young mind on useless and meaningless activities. Today we'll be discussing the fanatic human king Randal and the downfall of his mighty kingdom.

Through two hours of thorough explanation, you learned more about this king. He had deep hatred against the elves when they conquered his homeland as young prince. One of the main reasons of elven supremacy was their total control over non elven population halting its growth or increasing it to a limit. It never surpassed a third, always lower.

Of course Modern Elven city states have more humane control over non elves compared to Medieval times. King Randal's blood crusade lasted 26 years where any elf was slain in his path of cleansing with the help of non human allies. Thousands have perished from both sides till King Randal committed suicide in order not to be captured as he was betrayed by one of his most trusted allies. To this day, the identity of the true betrayer remained a mystery.

For decades humans suffered for the Randal pact which added heavy penalties and restrictions against humans in Elven domains. The pact was abolished by the Elven King Pyhire the wise in an attempt to bring non elves closer to his fold.

"Next week, we are having an exam . Don't disappoint me with sub par performance please, Vileh e Kestral. " The elf left the class soon afterwards.

Mr. Ludwill haven't arrived just yet. That Yvaal was speaking to everyone in class, talk about dedication.

"Interesting tale, isn't it?" Vlan leaned his chair towards yours "What would you do if you were in this fanatic king mighty shoes?"

"True, Nothing good comes out of war except misery." He agreed "The reenactment of the battle of Sier will be postponed to the 20th of January . I hope i will see you there, Jeremiah."

Before you could inquire further, Mr. Ludwill had arrived, his overgrowth looked more....lively and fresh if that made any sense. He had a gentle smile on his face.

"Most beautiful morning to you class, we are blessed to witness the blossom of Stellarus Obitus, The dying sun flower. This gentle flower blossom once in 30 years emitting a bright light for two whole days. We will observe its stark beauty in the academy's greenhouse."

"We have greenhouse?"

"Yes, a small one at the rooftop." Mr Ludwill answered "I have entrusted the rarest of my flowers to the there."

The whole class went to rooftops There wasn't much around except a glass shack. Mr. Ludwil wasn't joking, this little flower was a literal beacon of light. It was a bit blinding if you kept staring at at.

According to Mr. Ludwill, A unique strain of fungi formed a bond with the plant. This final blossom of the dying sun was the fungi's way of withering the plant in two days. You took the first book your eyes laid on. It was a biology one discussing dryads and their unique symbiotic relationship with other flora. Apparently the mother would have a variety of seeds in her womb around her unborn child. These flowers and overgrowth were crucial in any dryad's healthy life. Few could survive without any flora.

You put back the book before leaving thanking the librarian (who didn't care). It was biology time with the cheerful Miss Shalquoir. On your way to the class, you found both Miss Liyah and the nurse Feryiah engaged in a heated argument in a seldom used stairwell.

Your math teacher sighed "In class, I always say that." .

"i am leaving. Think about what i said." The half elf walked away leaving small traces of cigarette ashes behind. You soon found yourself alone in the bottom of stairwell.

___________

Miss Shalqouir delved further into the centaur's anatomy and physiology. She was less cheerful than before though. After the class has ended, she handled everyone a piece of chocolate again.

Soon the teacher of home economics would arrive, everyone was dead exhausted especially you; you didn't eat anything the whole day.

You found Yvaal speaking to Shiwe in a kindly and friendly manner come to think of it, None of the girls around here spoke to the Albino orc like that. The elf pull out a corrector pen and covered whatever was written on the orc's desk. She gave her a quick pat on the shoulder and left her.

Was it a facade or was the elf trying to be good to Shiwe? you didn't know.

>Call Yvaal for a moment, apologize to her for what you did earlier.

>Do nothing, wait for the home economics teacher to arrive.

You remained silent, best not to make sudden action like that.

Finally, The Home economics teacher had arrived, An large bulky centaur with short spiky black and some tinted red glasses. His upper part's skin was creamy while his lower part was shiny black. He seemed relatively young for centaurs despite his size. Most facilities and other infrastructure in Nileth weren't build with centaurs in mind so he had to readjust a lot. It must have been a pain for him. He moved the desk to the wall to make more room for him.

The centaur made a strange bow to you all, was this a centaur thing? " I am Mr. Kluxiv, your home economics teacher, We are two classes behind so please let's lot waste any time. Taxes , what do you know about them? Which one is ideal for non elves?"

He wrote three sentences on the board: Progressive , Proportional and Regressive taxes . "Raise your hand if you agree with one of the following."

The class was split to roughly equal opinions, you went for the progressive since it was the one that made sense.

The centaur was pleased with the answers "The true answer is Progressive .... in an ideal world. Most elven city states follow a racial caste system, while non elves follow Regressive tax system ."

Mr. Kluxiv explained the N.E.R.T.S throughout the next two hours. According to him Dryads were on the top with many tax relieves followed by Centaurs then The Teriasthe (amalgamation of lesser races which made up less than 1% of total world population ), Humans and finally Orcs with highest percentages and little tax relieves.

The teacher didn't give the class an assignment thankfully. As you were leaving with the water devil plant, you heard a booming noise outside.

Crackling Thunder, followed by endless torrents of rain

Just great.

Your backpack was thick enough from outside, you shouldn't worry about your notes and worn books too much. The water devil plant was your real concern. You should really buy an umbrella sometime.

Once outside, puddles of water were already forming in the courtyard. Everyone was rightfully running away from the pitter-patters.

Not Vlan though, he was elegantly walking with a black umbrella with white linings on its rims, "Terrible weather, I always bring something for a rainy day," he smiled at his pun "I can make a small detour to your home if you want."

As you were about to say yes, you spotted Ronk waiting alone for the next bus. Already soaked to the bone. You wondered why didn't he took the subway. You looked at Vlan again, an reply on the tip of your tongue.

"Off we go." He raised his umbrella over you. The same 4x4 grey car was waiting outside. Vlan gently tapped on the glass twice before entering the car, he quickly said something to the driven in elven but you couldn't catch it.

Classical music was playing inside, It was a relaxing and most importantly dry ride back to home, you thanked Vlan (and his driver) dearly.

Before leaving, you borrowed an umbrella from one of the students. You took a bus minutes after.

"...this sudden unexpected wave of-" The bus' T.V went static. You looked around you, the whole square had a massive blackout.

"Come on really? Third time this year!" An Orc passengers protested. You were already close to the diner, you left and walked to it since the bus was stuck in a jam already.

Everyone was getting grumpy from the lack of electricity. The elven police really got amped up aggressively maintaining things around.

A small beacon of light was shining at the Slop, Kreiden didn't have too much customers around yet you could recognize someone, it was that dryad White Stag sitting next to two bulky orcs.

Damn, you promised to go to Ika today in his shop, you totally forgot about this. He wasn't too far though and his pay was negotiable. Hmmm.

With a growling stomach, you went to Ika's shop where he had two strange creatures. One was very similar to an adult pug but with thick leathery skin , bulging eyes and a muzzle which covered most of its face. The other pet was much bigger and more menacing with pitch black eyes and a giant maw barely contained by a much large muzzle. Unlike the smaller one, it had red quills littered haphazardly over its thin light blue fur, its tail was bulbous and stone solid like a crude club. They let out a warning bark when you approached the old orc.

Ika tightened his grip on their lashes "I thought you weren't coming today; rain and all." He looked to the chirping darkness outside "2 hours for 5-" he reconsidered, " 80 pons , keep walking around the block. Misha and Ashim don't mind the rain. ain't that right girls?" His pets wiggled their tales excitedly.

"That's the spirit, don't come too close to elves. There is a reason for those muzzles. Do you know the Slop?"

"Yeah, i was just there." You nodded.

"You'll find me there." He grabbed his trilby and an umbrella from his coat hangar "See you in two hours, kid."

It was still a downpour outside, you were drenched in frozen water from head to toe in mere seconds. Sure, You could have used a single hand for each pet but you didn't want to leave any chances. A single slip could spiral into a heap of trouble.

The water devil plant came into mind, you basically had to feed it when you come back twice, you would be forced to wake up an hour or two earlier.

The smaller pet kept hopping about in puddles of water splashing left and right in glee, the bigger one would occasionally flare its quills when an elf was nearby. Nothing too troublesome for now.

For the most part they were good bo- er...girls. They gnarled whenever an elven police officer was around but that was about it. Misha, the bigger one, almost made you slip and fall into a large puddle of water. Not that it would matter anyways, you were already freezing.

When you finished walking the pets, you returned to the slop shivering and trembling. You found Ika having a nice chat with Krieden. The white stag was long gone.

"My boy! what are you-" She pieced out what you were doing. In a tick, she went ballistic on the old orc uttering mouthfuls of curses, He shrugged most of it off.

"How are my little girls, did they give any trouble?" You shook your head.

"Ignore this old bag! Sit , sit!" You sat down wearily. Your throat was starting to swell, She quickly prepared a hot yet a bit sludgy soup for you. Without thinking, you gulped it down like never before.

"Thanks kid," Ika gave you 80 pons before leaving with his pet. It was close to curfew time. Without thinking, you yanked a cheap plastic umbrella from a wandering street vendor for 10 pons. enough of this rain.

"Yr' gonna catch some cold like that! You need to keep yourself healthy." She was clearly worried.

The orc woman simply smiled as warmth and satiation were making their way inside your body. You thanked her dearly for the food before leaving with your new umbrella.

________

Once home you quickly took off your soggy clothes, fed the water devil and went to your pod. A lot of candles were lit around; It was still in blackout. You had to ask miss Lilim for an extra blanket, the one you had won't do. She too noticed your sapped figure. She brought you an antibiotic before giving you another blanket.

You slept on total darkness, last thoughts being on that damn power outage and whether you can go to the academy tomorrow or not

we will stop here for today. Thank you for playing!
>>
_____________

Saturday,10th of January - Heavy rain -
_____________

Your alarm woke you up just in time to feed the water devil. You put it in the lounge yesterday since your pod was too small anyway. Power was still gone, hoo boy.

Soon enough, everyone was started to wake up. Miss Lilim was sitting in the garden tuning to the radio. She gathered other students for an announcement "There is no school today, not until they fix the power."

The chilling weather didn't make everyone as excited. You didn't know whether to thank or curse this downpour.

"How are you feeling?" Miss Lilim asked

"Better." your throat was still swelled up but you were feeling better. Miss Lilim insisted on you taking another dose of the antibiotic.

"I was thinking.." Miss Lilim looked at the door of an unused room same in size as the lounge, mostly filled with junk. "I can take a good sum from my bank to make this room more useful to the pods. I... haven't made my mind just yet. Any ideas, Jeremiah?"

>Miss Lilim, you are spending too much pon...
>Whatever you choose, we will all be happy about it, Miss Lilim.

>a back up generator? No one can study in the dark

>How about a proper kitchen? We can eat there too together.

>Indoor garden? You can grow some veggies there, Miss Lilim.

>Some washing machines please, i feel like i am getting ripped off by this white stag lady.

"No don't need to worry yourself about my finances, if anything, it is the other away around. I will do some browsing first." Your guardian gave you an assuring smile. She briefly looked at her watch, all the happiness in her face got sapped to a troubled expression "I-i have to go. Please tell the others while i am gone."

Miss Lilim hurried to her car then left the scene. You wondered what was that about. Hmm.

"Sup dude," Ronk greeted you "Man, that rain was a freaking bless, saving our asses from one long ass day." He sniffed, Ronk was probably on the same boat as you in terms of sickness "Wanna hit the new gym? You gotta get buffed for the E.M.A boyy!"

"ALRIGHT!" he was pumped up.You brought a bottle of water and an extra set of clothes with you. Together, you took first bus to the gym. The traffic was simply abysmal. With no traffic lights, police officers took the mundane task of regulating the important streets.
________

The gym in question was a considerable four floored building. It had flashy signs leading to it all saying POWER HOUR

"Whoa, I like it!" Ronk grinned childishly as you both entered. Some of the lights were on inside, the necessities you would presume; you couldn't just use your back up generator for everything at the same time, the juice would run out soon.

The environment around you looked friendly, men and women working out without any unneeded nuisances. A burly, clearly ripped man with oily brown skin and a massive black beard greeted you and Ronk with an arching grin, he was holding what you assumed to be a protein shake. There were a lot of them on the small counter near the entrance.

"Welcome! Welcome! I am Power the boss of this gym. I am SO glad to see new faces around, we got it all; wanna lose a few kilos? check. wanna amp your babies like me? double check, wanna beat the ever loving shit out of your bro in our ring? triple check, What do you guys want?"

"Lifting, yo." Ronk answered casually trying not to look too much at the guy's massive pecs.

Power slurped down his shake in one go before replying "I am telling you what we have anyways, first, we got the regulars . 50 pons per visit for a WHOLE day, crazy right? WAIT there's more, 10% off if you got a bro or a sis with you. Working out alone never fun."

Power handled you and Ronk protein shakes "Better stuff upstairs for the POWER membership, 4000 PONS for three months, it ain't mixed too. POWER HOUR membership is for last floor only. A full YEAR for 10000 PONS with one of my boys as your personal trainer."

"We're good on the regular. That's uuuh...45 for each, yeah." Power nodded, his veins bulging with every move of his neck.

>too rich for my blood [Leave]

"Enjoy your time!"

For the next two hours, you alternated between various exercises from using the treadmill to lifting weights. Ronk was doing just fine while you were panting heavily. It wasn't much of a surprise; your average orc was more physically fit compared to most races.

Of course one visit wouldn't be enough, maybe once or twice per week...if you had the pon for it.

"Ronk, please..." Your sickness was catching up with you. Already tired and drenched with sweat, you sat on a nearby bench watching your orc friend who still wasn't tired.

"Come on man, back it up!" He encouraged you to lift more but you were spent. You told him that you were going to take a warm shower , you had enough for today.

The locker room was split into two halves, one for men the other for women. As you were heading there, you stumbled upon an orc in a sports top and yoga pants channeling pure anger into her fist against the punching bag in a lone corner. Sweat glimmered against her well toned muscles, trickles of tears mingled with her sweat on her face. A hateful groan escaped her tight lips with each punch.

This orc was too busy with the punching bag, the whole world was oblivious to her at eh moment...wait a second...

"Spoopy Jay with his lame ass spooks." After taking a warm shower, you felt invigorated and refreshed. You left the gym with your muscles twitching slightly from all of your effort. Unlike your friend, you didn't feel as hungry. It was a gentle drizzle outside. Moreover, Uri square was teeming once more with electric life.

Power's back.

"Let's have some fun, yeah i am pumped!"

"Have you ever studied anything so far, Ronk?" you reminded your friend.

"Errr.. nope. If it sticks, it sticks. uuuggh you are such a downer man. Foine, i'll read some stupid book or something. Let's go."

Whether it was because you wanted to get over with it or because it was the nearest thing to you inside your pod, you picked a fresh boxer to draw. You spent more than you wanted to on this drawing. It wasn't hot trash so that was a plus for sure. This would do, better than being empty handed.

You could feel it, the tension was rising in the air for tomorrow's public execution. You still had no idea about this Yoereth the high council spoke so undauntedly about . Can't they just use common words instead? what a bother.

Today was a light-ish day, Math and physics plus art. You wondered about the plain boxer you drew, will it be a beacon of admiration or a shackle of humiliation? you would find out soon enough.

You arrived at the academy rather early today; the road had little traffic for some reason.

"What's all this fuss about?" a student in your class yawned loudly stretching his arms. There were a lot of seniors moving about.

"Haven't you heard? Someone broke into the greenhouse last night and stole Mr. Ludwill's shiny plant while the power was out yesterday. Teach is pretty devastated you know." another replied.

"Why though? he got a bazillion already, i bet he got more in his creepy big mansion ."

Not a second later, Miss Liyah had arrived, black rings nestled under her tired eyes, her cup of coffee glued in her hand.

"Uuuugh i hate everything ." She slurped down her coffee before taking a deep breath. Within a couple of minutes, she wrote down a convoluted equation that ate half of the aboard "Wake me up when someone solve this. I...will take a quick nap." She sank her head into her purse. She kind of like cute that way with her messy hair.

Some like Vlan were immediately trying to solve it. Others were taking it easy not even bothering. Yvaal was drifting away in her own thoughts tapping her desk occasionally.

The Physics class felt like a race, Her eyes brighter than the sun. you managed to keep up with her though "I left a 5 page paper for both Math AND Physics in the library, I need them fully answered by Wednesday . I won't take excuses, you hear?""

She left the class in a hurry leaving you and the others complaining about this unwanted homework.

"Boxer?" She didn't expect that for an answer "I...I drew Gulpy." She briefly showed it to you. It was actually pretty good. At least better than your chicken scratch.

"Nice." you complimented her. The orc cracked a small smile but didn't say anything. She was quickly snatched away by the elf Yvaal ,she too was asking about her art.

Miss Gallel was in a different set of fashionable clothes, her top was needlessly glittering attracting all eyes around her. She was simply brimmed with glee.

"Here's my Cuuuties! Mommy has been waiting this whole week to see your drawings! Showtime!"

She actually spent some decent time with each student. Vlan stole the show for the get go with an oil painting of himself fencing someone else whom you assumed to be yourself. Only black, white and different shades of red were used.

In this painting, there was an emphasis on the thrown mask, whirlwinds of pure rage swirling around him while his you retained a calm posture . You were drawn in gentle strokes contradicting with the semi-chaotic strokes of Vlan. The teacher was simply enthralled by the painting.

Soon enough, it was your turn "Let's see your puppy cutie~...is that a boxer?" she raised an eyebrow.

"This little cutie has little room for imagination, with Mommy's help, we will turn it into a vast expanse ever changing with brilliant ideas!" She moved to the next student afterwards.

There was little to be done in her class, she said that next time the class would start for real. Finally the day was over.

After getting a copy of your homework for 5 pons, You bought yourself one of Waxwell's noodles for 10 pons,They filled you real good. As you were leaving, You were stopped by the elf Yvaal. She had something to tell you.

"Wait up, Jeremiah. I need you with something."

"What is it this time?" you frowned

"I...well, i need you to help me out with the stolen flower. Finding it will be a huge scoop for The Weekly Erebus next week! The seniors are too slow to get to the culprit and the police definitely wont care about some flower."

She went silent for a moment as Mr. Ludwill was leaving with the chemistry teacher Ms. Bludun, he looked absolutely crushed by his loss.

"I talked to the principal about it earlier in the morning and he is 100% fine with me looking around....so? you in?" she was anticipating your answer.

Her wave of disdain dissipated instantly with a cheerful wink "Thank for the help though, follow me. We're heading for the crime scene, onwards!" Like a bolstering general, she had you on her tail. Sighing you followed her in silence.

The rooftop was empty when you two had arrived, you got about three hours before the academy would close up. The glass next to the door was shattered; Classic breaking and entry. The dying sun was actually uprooted from its now shattered pot.

"Look around, I am sure we will find something the seniors didn't.... don't step on anything!"

You searched the place real good buuut you found nothing but glass shards and shattered pot parts on the ground.

Your 'partner' was starting to lose her enthusiasm. "Ok, ok Think ." She pulled out a note and started to write her thoughts down.

Her thoughts were mostly incoherent and in random order, it went as follows.

-Culprit is one of the following: Student, Senior student, Staff member, teacher or other.

-Culprit entered the academy at night .

-Culprit didn't break into the academy itself, so either he has the keys for main gate or he found another way in

-Culprit didn't have the keys for the greenhouse , he had to forcefully break in.

-Culprit didn't steal any of the other rare plants in the green house, only the dying sun.

-Culprit must have covered the plant somehow to hide its shining light

-There might be one or more Culprit.

"What do you think?"

"Good idea, we have a couple of orc janitors. They can help us." It wasn't too hard to find most of them; the academy was almost empty by now. They were cleaning the hallways and stairs humming along the way.

"What print? It was Raining yesterday you dummy." Yvaal protested. You didn't remember any trail inside the greenhouse too.

The orc was disinterested in the whole thing. "Look, I don't care about whats going on beyond the second floor . No mud goes in my floor. Go bother someone else already."

"Finally." He resumed his cleaning duty.

Yvaal sighed, "Let me do the talking please."

Together, you returned to courtyard where a janitor was cleaning littered trash from the ground. He was currently under the alcove of the kiosk.

"Hmm?" You noticed your approach, he was more friendlier than the last one.

Yvaal bombarded the poor guy with questions, it felt more like an interrogation yet the janitor wasn't phased by it. At the end, she didn't get anything useful out of it. Before you would leave, the Janitor had something to say "Tell Gariouz on the third floor to clean the alcove from above. This thing is filthy."

The other Janitor had just finished cleaning the first floor, unlike the rest, he was missing his uniform jacket. "What you are kids doing here?"

Yvaal gracefully explained the whole situation to him. Looks like he was wasn't aware of the whole thing in the first place.

"Greenhouse huh? Did you find any jacket there?" You shook your head in response.

"Fuck, I am PRETTY sure i left it there...I will let you two know if i find anything." The janitor left you both soon after.

"The Culprit must have stolen the jacket!" Yvaal exclaimed "Do you know what that means?"

>Culprit covered his tracks inside the greenhouse with the jacket, he couldn't leave it like that.
>Culprit wasn't prepared for the flower to be all shiny, he didn't give it much thought

"But why would he break the pot?" Yvaal had a point. He was either in a hurry or something else might have happened.

There was still time to ask the last janitor some questions. Gariouz was drinking beer on his job. He leaned lazily on the wall enjoying a moment of rest.

"Gariouz, right? the janitor fro-"

"Yeah, yeah. how about you tell him to shut up ? Lucky asshole." he muttered to himself at the end mopping away from you two.

"W-wait!" Too late; he had put on his headphones "Jerk." a curse slipped from Yvaal's pursed lips.

She briefly looked at the alcove from the window at the end of the hallway . The alcove had the occasional trash thrown by senior students plus some dried leaves here and there from the tall trees at the back of the academy. The determined elf opened it with a command "Get in there, now."

With great care, you climbed the window, It was really slippery, a fall from this height could be...better not to think about it too much.

You instinctively dusted off your hand only to find small lumps of dried mud . You looked at the window's frame from outside, It too had some.

A couple more cautious steps and you found yourself on top of Waxwell's Kiosk , More dried leaves rustled towards you from dead, thick branches.

You peered to the outer wall of the academy. you could definitely see it; a Filthy jacket tossed in a dumpster . This dried tree overarching next to wall could be easily climbed especially with all of its branches.

" Whaaa? I KNEW IT " her face brightened when you told her the good news. You left the academy with her to where the jacket was.

You grabbed the filthy jacket with mild disgust. You searched every nook and cranny in it but you found nothing in it. That wasn't enough for Yvaal "What are you waiting for? Take a dive already!"

"Seriously?"

"Um yeah? do you expect a lady to jump in there?" you groaned before looking further into the dumpster. Luckily for you, Maxwell sealed most of the trash in tight black bags.

"Did you find something?"

"I am...trying" your were already an arms length inside, different textures of garbage crawling on your skin. Uuugh.

Your hand stumbled upon something stuffed under the pile of today's trash. A pair of soft red cotton gloves with . they didn't look as expensive so the culprit wasn't too attached to them.

Yet among all these trashy odors , a nice scent was still powerful enough to be distinctive AND persistent . You couldn't tell right at the get go but you had a feeling that you smelled it before.

"I will be taking that." The elf stuffed the gloves in a plastic bag with an arching grin on her face "Evidence and all."

"Return the jacket back to the janitor ,please." you already smelled like rotten trash. Oddly enough, Yvaal wasn't repulsed by your newly acquired aura. You gave the jacket back to the janitor who was more than grateful for it just before they would leave.

It was slightly past 5:00 PM. You and Yvaal were standing next to the main gate "I got a solid lead. We'll continue our snooping later. Your number, quick."

"What?"

"You phone number, dummy. so i can call you." Reluctantly, you exchanged numbers with her. Time to go home.

Half of the homework was done by midnight, Most of it should be right. You almost forgot to turn on the alarm before going to sleep.

________

Monday, 12th of January [Gragash Ogke Kotreem's execution]
_________

Miss Lilim had woke you up with gentle taps on your pod. Apparently the alarm was going for a while. After feeding the water devil plant, you rushed to the academy already being quite late.

Terreth was impatiently waiting at the school's main gate. His worn expression shifted into one oozing with disdain .

The prefect quickly wrote your name on his list, he spat only two words to you "Strike one."
______________

Once in class you found Mr. Tharanel standing next to a balding elf with a crooked nose and a slight lump in his back, his right leg didn't look fine...that would justify this luxurious cane of his. Despite his unappealing figure, he retained his elven elegance with a hint og fatherly altitude . Next to him was a human woman in a business suit, by the looks of it, it seemed like this was the principal and his secretary.

A small table with wheels was positioned in front of the teacher's desk. it had a TV on it broadcasting the upcoming execution, the closest free power outlet was dangerously close to your desk. You were very careful not to trip over it.

"....and i truly wish the best for you all. Learn well from the mistakes of the wicked and the fool." Well at least you were here to listen to some of his speech. The principal left the class, his secretary scurrying behind him.

Your Elven teacher wasn't in a good mood at all "Glue your eyes to the screen kids; because that is all what you are having. Damn it, wasting our times on a nobody like that." He took a seat angrily watching the endless gossip of his students.

"Here comes the Yoereth ." Vlan stated while taking a small sip of his morning tree "Have you seen it before, Jeremiah?"

"Clinging to ancient traditions i presume." Vlan finished his drink throwing the plastic cup in the garbage "Crude and inhumane of course yet effective . Last Yoereth had decreased crime rate by 37% for two years. But in my opinion this fearmongering is not accepted. Even the tiniest of sparks can lead to.... undesirable results. "

You studied the faces around you. Some were anticipating it, other were indifferent. Yvaal had a concerned look on her face while Shiwe kept tapping her feet nervously. She inhaled and exhaled in fast pace, her eyes swelling with tears ready to burst at any moment.

The moment of truth drew near, the screen shifted to...a theater? what?? it definitely looked like it , dozens of rows brimmed with elves only all sneering at the 'stage' where the
gagged Orc was strapped to a chair. Everything looked overly ornamental like a god damn show.

This 'show' started with half a dozen barefoot elf dancers with dressed in strange costumes as they circled around him uttering something in old elvish. Vlan briefly remarked on that saying it was ancestral curses or something.

The dance lasted for about half an hour. All of them suddenly stopped when the same man who announced the news approached the orc, he too wore a flashy costume.

"May you utter the last lie in our world" With great hatred, he ungagged him and stepped back slightly.

"PLEASE AARRRGHHHHHHH!!!!!! I DIDNT DO IT. I DIDNT DO IT!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!!! I AM INNOCENT !!!!! INNOCENT!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT LET THEM DO THIS, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! " his surge of words met no reaction from his elven audience. Mr. Tharanel lowered the T.V a tad a moment after.

"May Yoereth Cleanse your sins." The high council man stepped away from the stage. Suddenly, two huge glass walls slid from each side, sealing the stage entirely.

Each dancer pulled out a small knife and a gas mask quickly putting it on. You heard a hisss sound on the right side of the stage, It was a bit muffled from the orc's constant screams.

A giant dryad had emerged from the right side of the stage. She was thrice the size of any dryad you saw before. Her overgrowth was no more; only dead and crackled bark blacker than death. Her wooden horns were but a husk of old, fossilized and rotten to the core. Most of her face was overtaken by rotten black wood with an exception of a white orb constantly dripping a black ooze. A trail of black smoke followed each breath of hers.

This was Yoereth

The dancers bowed at this ancient dryad uttering more ancient words. The silent dryad simply nodded. Then the unexpected occurred.

A flurry of stabs and gashes were unleashed against this relic of old. The Dryad was unphased by it. She shrugged all of it off. Her single silent eye was fixed by the orc who was trembling on his chair.

He was facing death herself.
[1/2]
>>
Befuddled with new wounds, The ancient Dryad seeped a black sap from her injuries. You didn't think these puny knife could do anything to this giant. She gathered a puddle of her sap in the palm of her hands, ready to pour it on the orc whose eyes and ears were already bleeding. No doubt thanks to her noxious black breath.

Your flickering eyes caught Shiwe's for the first. Her heart was about to be burst at any moment.

Fearing for unneeded punishment, you kept watching. Each step the ancient dryad took towards the orc made your heart pound harder like a drum of war. Silence settled in the air, all lips tights.

It was time.

Yoereth, still bleeding, slowly poured her thick sap over the orc's writhing chest. He screeched a deafening roar wishing for a thousand death other than this one. The sap was slowly sinking in his flesh and bone effortlessly. His lungs had been dissolved yet he kept on wailing until the last bits of his soul departed in a horrid show of pure agony and dismay.

In front of everyone lied a husk with a large gap in his upper half. Mere strings of flesh was keeping it from completely being de-attached from the piss stained lower half.

A puddle of melted organs and bones mired the stage. All but the Yoereth were frozen in their place. Her ancient duty was done...She slowly left the stage leaving an unforgiving scene behind.

Shiwe waltzed out of the class, she wanted to run as far as possible from this carnage. Yvaal looked at the teacher who gave her a nod of approval. She followed the albino orc in a heart beat.

"Are you alright?" Vlan asked you with a hint of concern on his face.

Once the class is over, You looked for Shiwe everywhere but you couldn't find her. The half elf nurse overhead you asking around, she took off her white coat, ready to leave "I sent her home, gave her a three day sick leave. Don't think she'll need it all but meh. Poor girl." She shrugged.

"Well, She said something about family but i am not sure. Don't spread any rumors around, you hear?" You could feel a small trail of regret at the end of her sentence. The nurse left abruptly trying not to think too much about what she said.

You went to the E.A building only to find some seniors telling everyone to go home, principal's orders. It felt a bit disrespective have fun and play right after someone's execution. The Lokk/E.MA students were the most vocal about this

"Yeah right." She winked playfully. You almost forgot that you had Shiwe's number, perhaps now wasn't the best time to call her. Let her cool down a bit.

You sat with the elf on a secluded bench she pulled out her ' updated detective notes', it went like that:

-Culprit is one of the following: Student, Senior student, other, NOT a teacher or a staff member , more inclination towards a student since he already knew where to go without raising any suspicion.

-Culprit entered the academy at night , more inclination for Non elves due to the curfew time.

-Culprit didn't break into the academy itself, He climbed the tree next to the wall , he must be AT LEAST physically able enough to do so

-Culprit didn't have the keys for the greenhouse , he had to forcefully break in.

-Culprit didn't steal any of the other rare plants in the green house, only the dying sun.

-Culprit had covered the plant to hide its shining light using the Janitor's jacket.

-There might be one or more Culprit.

-Culprit left a red glove too big for any girl , Cultprit is definitely a male .

-Said glove had a soft texture with a distinctive nice and fresh smell that didn't dissipate even amongst the trash .

"Any ideas, Jeremiah?"

>....
>>
-We shouldnĀ“t rule our a female. I mean, the culprit could have bought whatever cheap gloves he or she could before taking the plant.

-Where there any sings of forced entry?

-I believe our strongest pieces of evidence are the gloves and the smell. LetĀ“s see if we can track them down.

-Although we should be thinking of leaving all this to the police. They might be able to do this work better than us.

-As for the motive, how much that plant costs?

Do you mean more inclination for elves because of the non-elven curfew time?>>2301638

I really don't want it to be Vlan but what did his book shop smell like again?

I think the criminal washes his/her clothes at the White Stag. at least, they have access to the sap
We should go there and ask for the glove

You shared your thoughts with Yvaal, for the most part she agreed with you. That scent, you swore you smelled it before recently. Could it be from the bookstore? nah, it wasn't as musky.

For a brief moment you wondered whether Misha or Ashim had a good nose or not. Regardless, both would give anyone an intimidating presence with OR without the muzzle. You cleared your mind for a moment trying to recall its origins...

"The white stag. It has to be it!" you exclaimed.

"Who?" you explained to her all about the laundromat and it's hookah puffing owner. There was no mistake, this glove was washed recently.

Yvaal too was thrilled by your conclusion, the dryad is a sharp woman. She would definitely help you two. Just as you two were about to head there, The orc janitor ( with a clean jacket) approached you, he was holding a small burnt cigarette butt. "I found this in the soil while cleaning. Mr. Ludwill absolutely allows no one to smoke in the greenhouse, this belongs to the asshole to soiled my jacket. I didn't find anything else though."

"I don't know the way too much inside your...district." Yvaal confessed "Can we....take a taxi?"

>As along as you are paying
>sure, we are splitting it, right?
>Not spending extra pons on that. I will meet you there.
>Fine, lets go

"No way! I don't like...ugh" She protested "Taxi or bust, okay?"

"Then You are paying, princess."

"Cheapstake." was her somewhat bitter reply. Moments later, you found yourself in a taxi with a rather chatty human driver. It was mostly nonsense about the executions. X said a statement ,Y confirmed it, etc. Boring.

Thanks to the evergrowing traffic, Yvaal had paid a hefty 34 Pons for the ride. The Laundromat was open but you didn't see the sickly dryad outside.

"Move kid," a large burly red orc in a business suit with half scarred face had forcefully shoved you aside on his way out. You almost fell on the pavement.

A mango scented smoke was seeping from inside the laundromat, you gently tapped on the door.

"Come on in, " The white stag was sitting cross-legged in a small room deep inside, it didn't have much of a furniture, aside from maybe a tiny stool. An untouched hot plates of food were spread across the floor under a colourful rug. They had a foreign smell to them.

"Ah, Jeremiah ...and what's your name, girl?" The white stag asked.

"Yvaal Istre."

" Istre huh? " She took another puff "I don't see any laundry with you two so why don't you sit down and have an early lunch with me? I made it myself. My earlier prudent guest had..... something important to attend."

>Yes, please! [Sit on the floor]
>We are here for something else [show her the gloves]

But first, some small talk. DonĀ“t wanna appear oportunistic. How is business Miss Stag?

Yvaal reluctantly sat down next you. Both of you facing a semi perturbed face, You couldn't help to notice the lack of any meat. Just different assortment of alien vegetables and fruits, most of them had different shades of grey.

With the first bite, you felt something strange in your mouth, It was as if the food was getting doughy and thick. You grabbed a cup of water to swallow it down. Yvaal had the same reaction "Oh right, we ,Dryads, are not fond of normal meat, we tend to grind it to flavored dust or burn it to ash according to the dish. "

Yvaal took smaller bits afterwards, It was a different kind of bulky food. Slowly, your mouth, tongue and jaws were getting used to this new and delicious food.

"How's business Miss Stag? I see little around." you asked, mouth half filled with juicy vegetables.

The dryad crackled a wicked smile of overconfidence "Worrying is not my thing, boy. People here know how vital i am to this neighborhood. Some forget from time to time,sure.... I will have to remind them, one way or another. ."

Yvaal remained silent this whole time "by the by, How was the ....trial? Did the little pricks pranced about with this little tooth picks?"

"Hmph, I saw four in my lifetime, missed the fifth. Keeping an Allmother and showing her off like a one trick pony. The audacity..." her disdain quickly disappeared a tick later "Then again, I applaud this Allmother for keeping up with an oath of old. Never break a promise not even when your life depends on it."

Most of the plates were empty. Despite its aftertaste, the food was really good. "Now tell me, what do you two want?" She was rightfully blunt with her question.

"Hmmm, I don't peek and sniff through customer clothes you know...Isn't that a Lokk player's glove? " She squinted her eyes inspecting it "It has the smell of my sap. heh, good choice."

You frowned at Yvaal "Nice 'research'."

"How the hell am i supposed to know about this stupid sport?!" She barked back at you "T-thank you for you time, Miss Stag."

"My pleasure, Ishtre "

It was about 2:34 PM when you two were finished, "Another evidence! We are pinning it down, i tell you. Our Lokk team is big so it won't be easy but we'll do it. I can imagine the headline in the weekly Erebus, oooooh, it is going to be so beautiful! See you tomorrow, Jeremiah and thanks!" The elf took another taxi back to home.

You had a lot of time to kill before curfew.

You didn't feel like wasting time and pon, may be later. For now, you walked back to the pods where you found some police officers speaking to Miss Lilim. She was very cooperative with them answering every question with a gentle smile. She sighed after they were gone.

Other students around were either busy or they didn't want to help you. Welp, looks like you were going to solve it on your own. In your search for a study partner, you heard some talk about a protest on the rise.

You finished your home work in a span of two hours or so...more or less; you weren't sure of half the answers but at least your math homework was nicely done, right? Hopefully, Miss Liyah could make out something in this hot mess.

You stepped outside your pod for some fresh air. Ronk leaning against the wall by himself. He looked really pissed "Man, this sucks ass. No Lokk for today too? I was getting pumped this whole week for it. Damn elv-" He stopped almost biting his tongue.

"Wanna mess around in Uri or something, Jay man?"

>Sure, screw this day!

>Nah, I will be walking Mr. Ika's pets soon-ish

"Fine," disappointed, the orc sighed "See you soon, I guess." With that said, you left the pods in a hurry; you did miss yesterday's walk. The old orc might not be too happy about it.
_________

The traffic was smooth enough on the way to his shop. You found him sitting on an old leathery chair, his pets uttering what you thought to be a sad whine.

Ika was delving into a deep thought, from afar, he looked half asleep but as your approached him, you found pure sadness swelling up in his eyes.

"Did you see his eyes? Does he look like a vile murderer to you?"
