Last time, on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Z! Raichi’s plot continues, as long-dead warriors appear all over the Earth! But after defeating Super 13 once more, you happen upon Towa, Mira, and Magil with Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan seeking to kill Goku once and for all. As the battle raged, Goku’s power skyrocketed, ascending past Super Saiyan, though sadly as you and Bra tried to take on Mira, you were hit with an absurdly powerful blast, your life spared only thanks to the timely intervention of Buula. Meanwhile, Pantea and Videl finally unlocked a new level of strength, but as Peppa and Chuu Lee went to help Kuriza, the boy was confronted with his resurrected family. Can you make it out of Sugoroku Space in time to help your friends save the world?

Buula seems to draw immediate suspicion towards the strange, blue alien. She looks away, tapping her fingers on her forehead. “...No good. Can’t sense anyone but us here. Agh... and it’s strange, like everything is in a fog.”

“I’m afraid if you’re trying to leave, you’re going to be very disappointed. There’s only one way out of this place.” the alien tells you both, then jabs his thumb behind him. “It’s through that door, and the only way to get there is by winning the game.”

“...Game?” you repeat. Oh you don’t like the sound of this.

“That’s right, little girl!” he declares, tossing the giant die up into the air. “A simple game of chance, roll the dice and make it to the end of the board. But if you cheat, that’s gaaaaame over!”

“Not a little girl.” you grumble out, crossing your arms. “And let me guess, game over means we’re stuck here forever, Mr...?”

“That’s Sugoro to you, and oh no no no, it means you pass on to the afterlife!” he declares.

Buula glares down at him. “Neither of us are dead, and I am damn sure King Yemma never set up something like this.”

“You got sent here to get a second chance, you’d be dead if you weren’t here. Now, do you and your daughter have what it takes to win this game, ma’am?” the alien asks.

“...Daughter?” you grumble out. “I’m much older than you think, pal.”

“I’m sure you are, kiddo.” he responds dismissively, keeping his attention on Buula. “So, what’ll it be? Ready to face me and win your freedom?”

The tall pink woman looks over to you. “I don’t like this. It smells like a trap.”

You glare at the blue alien for a moment and grumble out once more “I’m not a kid.” before focusing back on the Time Patroller.“Buula, you mentioned Pan’s grandpa before, he got out of here, didn’t he? How’d he do that? ...Also who’s Pan, again?”

“You remember the girl from a while back, black hair, orange bandana, you didn’t like her clothes?”

Ohhh, her. You cross your arms and state emphatically, “That shirt was way too small on a girl that young. She couldn’t have been older than 10.”

Buula shakes her head. “Yes, her. And he did escape, but I can’t exactly remember how... honestly half of it sounded like she was making it all up. But guess I owe her an apology when I get back... hrmn. Maybe he did get out through winning the game, but... no, he’s not exactly the type to-”

“I don’t know who you’re talking about, but I can assure you, of the 32,546,782 games I’ve played, nobody’s won but me.” Sugoro interrupts. “If they did get past, I’d have noticed by now.”

Your eyebrow’s raised. That’s not a suspicious number of wins at all. Or... plausible, really. That would mean he’s been playing nonstop for around... 3500 years, minimum! ...Is this some kind of Hyperbolic Time dimension too? Agh, no time to ponder it now. “Maybe we will play this. But, if we are...” You look behind you on the massive gameboard of a floor and raise your hand. “Let’s make sure it’s fair!” Okay, Materialize a dice tumbler and-

Why isn’t it appearing? You focus your energy and try harder. You hear the blue alien chuckling. “Hey now, what’re you trying to do? No tricks are going to work on the dice, so don’t waste your time.”

“Hrmn... Goku ended up meeting some guy who was good with this kind of thing. Agh, if only I could get his help with this...”

“Well, what’ll it be?” the alien asks again, the die spinning next to him.

You’ve got an idea. “...Yeah, I bet you we can do this. Buula, so long as one of us makes it to the end, we’ll be good, right?”

She sighs out. “Do we have to?”

“Tell you what, ma’am, I’ll even let you go first.” he offers. “Best of luck~”

Buula grabs the dice with her... head... tentacle... thing... and tosses it behind her. Sugoro watches it carefully, and once it lands, he seems to smile smugly. “Ohoho, looks like you’re lucky today, that’s a six!”

The pink alien lady starts jumping across the path before you both, reaching the sixth space. And almost out of nowhere, a loud voice declares, “GO BACK: FIVE SPACES!” A large white hand appears before her and grabs her, moving her back to the first space.

“Ooof, tough luck! You landed on one of the movement spaces!” the blue man declares all-too enthusiastically.

Yeah that’s not suspicious at all. “I take it this board is randomized every time, right?”

“Heh heh, well, how else would you keep it a challenge?” Sugoro asks you. “My turn, kid.”

He grabs the dice and rolls it, getting... a 4. He moves four spaces forward, and again, there’s a voice that announces, “ADVANCE: THREE SPACES!”

“Ohoo, lucky, lucky!” the man chants, moving even further ahead.

You move to the dice with a confident grin. You lift it up... then start spinning it on your finger. Okay, here goes! You toss the die, keeping that bit of spin going with it. It slows strangely, almost as if you somehow dizzied the die, but finally lands. “That’s a 5.”

Sugoro places his hands behind his back as you advance five spaces. And... the one you end up on lights up. “CHALLENGE SPACE!” the disembodied voice declares. Before you appear four cards, face-down.

“Huh. Well, look at that, you ended up on one of the early challenge spaces. Ooh, a favorite of mine. You can choose to swap places with someone, but only if you can end up with less cards than them. What’ll it be, kid?”

You point to the man. “Looks like I’ll be challenging you to a children’s card game then, Sugoro.”

He shrugs, four cards appearing before him as well. “So be it.”

The cards move up before you and Sugoro. Huh... wait a second, Gohan and Peppa were playing this with the Bio-man! A card appears before you and Sugoro, face-up. Yellow, 7. Yours are Blue 3, Yellow 2, Red 5, and... Wild. “Youngest goes first.”

“I’ll say it again, I’m no kid. In fact, my own kids have played this before.” You place down the Yellow 2.

“...Lady, you’re a grandma?” Sugoro asks Buula, putting down a Green 2.

The pink alien’s holes emit steam as she shouts out in frustration, “We’re not related you moron! Agh!”

“Just allies.” you state, finally placing down the Wild card. “Red.”

Sugoro gulps, looking over his cards. “W-wait... I don’t have a...” Another card appears before him.

“Then seems like I’ve won this.” You reveal the Red 5.

“CHALLENGE COMPLETE!”

Two large white hands appear, switching you and Sugoro. He may have been lucky, but if you’re being honest, luck’s been on your side more than once. The die appears next to Buula again.

So... from his reaction, something tells you that matching this Sugoro guy’s rolls as best you can will keep you away from these Challenge Spaces. Maybe even if the board is randomized, he knows it by heart, or there’s only a certain number of configurations that have happened. Over 30 million tries at this should surely give him an edge here. Or perhaps he’s just cheating... but you’ll need a confirmation first. You motion to Buula to try the same trick you did, quickly pretending you didn’t do anything as the blue alien looks back at you with suspicion.

Buula grabs the die with her head tentacle thing once more, but gives it a spin as she tosses. The die again seems dizzied by the motion, landing on its side... and on a 4. Buula hops up to where Sugoro is, and the disembodied voice blasts out again, “CHALLENGE SPACE!”

“Can I decline it?” she asks. “Or perhaps save it for later?”

“CHALLENGE DECLINED!”

She scratches her head. “...I guess so.”

Sugoro takes the die again, making another roll. “Come on... papa needs a new... SIX!”

It bounces around a bit more than you expected, landing on a 6. Sugoro chuckles and prances ahead of you. Yeeeah this isn’t usual. Your turn again, and you make a toss, trying the trick once more. It rolls and spins across the floor... but just as you see it almost land on 6, it’s almost like something nudges it into a 5.

You almost swear you hear Sugoro sigh in relief, but you quickly move ahead of him. “Buula, you sure you can’t remember what Pan’s grandpa did to escape this place?”

“Something’s going to jog my memory eventually.” she responds, scratching her head. “Agh, I know there’s something to this...”

“Nothing to it, ma’am, just luck and a bit of skill.” Sugoro declares. “And again, you are mistaken if you think anyone’s made it out of here. I’m undefeated.”

You finally leap ahead of the blue man... and again you’re greeted with a declaration of “CHALLENGE SPACE!”

“Figures...” you mumble out.

“QUIZ SHOW!”

“Oooh, you ARE lucky, kid, that’s one of my favorites!”

A gigantic, cartoonish microphone appears before you as strange music fills the area. “THAT’S RIGHT THAT’S RIGHT, ANSWER THE RIDDLE RIGHT AND YOU ADVANCE, GUESS WRONG AND YOU FALL!”

“...Fall?” you ask. The small platform beneath your feet begins to move, a small hole opening up in the middle of it. Oh crap. Legs don’t fail you now!

You keep running away from the hole, but you look at the microphone... thing... with mild bemusement. “That’s an easy one. The driver!”

“CORRECT! ADVANCE: THREE SPACES!”

You quickly leap ahead. Buula rolls again, this time tossing the dice with a bit more force. It bounces as it spins, and you almost swear you hear the die go “Ow!” as it lands. And Buula hits a 5! The space she ends up on lights up, and the voice declares, “ADVANCE: FIVE SPACES!”

Buula ends up next to you, though she looks back at the space you were just on. “...I am starting to recall something Pan said about him. He did do terribly with that portion. Then again, he is a bit of a meathead, not really one for riddles. Agh, but I can’t recall how he exited this realm...”

“Bit of a meathead? Sounds a bit like my monkey boy.” you comment, laughing. Buula seems to give you an odd look.

Sugoro takes the die, and you swear you hear him lowly whisper to it before you or Buula can talk more. He rolls again, the die behaving... strangely, almost like it’s scared. “Well what do you know, that’s a nice 6!” The blue man prances forward, the space he ends up on flashing beneath him. “Ooooh, how very, very lucky! The Hospitality Space!”

A large platform with several beautiful women on it rises out of the floor, surrounding a red and gold chair. Sugoro leaps over to the platform, reclining back in the chair as the women begin to pamper and coddle him. Buula asks the obvious question, anger in her voice, “So just who exactly are all these people? Others that ended up trapped here? Or are they what happened to those who refuse?”

He waves his hand dismissively. “Ahh, they’re just part of the game, ma’am. Why, if you end up on one of these spaces, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of hunky men ready to attend to your needs. It’s good to have something that helps you relax, you know?”

Her brow furls. “...The sooner we get out of here, the better.”

“Agreed.” You end up with the die in hand once more, trying your same trick. It seems that it’s somehow... “anticipating” your tactic though, and as the die falls, you blink, and you swear that in the fraction of a second between you closing your eyes and opening them again, it changed from a 4 to a 6. Well... if it gets you out quicker.

As you advance, you start to feel warmth beneath your feet, a soft red glow far beneath the platforms. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice Sugoro smirk. “Careful where you jump, kid, you don’t want to fall.”

“FallWOAH!” You brace yourself as you look down, realizing the platforms stand atop a giant lake of molten lava. You stablize yourself, but suddenly get a flash of foresight. A red-hot jet shoots up from the lava covering the whole platform, and you just barely leap up out of the way in time... though a bit of your outfit still gets singed.

“YOU’VE BEEN BURNED! LOSE A TURN!”

You come down to the platform, legs crossed and grumpily looking towards the exit. Damn. So much for your winning streak. But to your surprise, you hear Buula let out an “Ah-HA!” Looking back to her, you see Buula hold the die confidently. “Maple, I think I know how Goku got out of here!”

Finally! “Ah, great, tha-WAIT, WHAT?!”

“Is... is Pan ‘my’ granddaughter? Or is it like... Goku’s granddaughter from another reality? Like how Bra is for Vegeta, or Trunks and Gohan for Bulma? Wait, is she Gohan or Peppa’s child?” Your eyes narrow. “...Who’s the parent that lets her dress like that?”

Buula waves her hands. “O-one question at a time, please.”

“Sorry, just... kind of a big thing you just sort of dropped at my feet there.”

The pink woman thinks over your queries. “Well... to start, you are correct, Pan is more like Bra and the Trunks you know than she is related to you, though her father’s name IS still Gohan. Her grandmothers are actually Chi-chi... and Miguel.”

You stare blankly at her. “...Goku and Chi-chi? I... guess I can see that, she’s got a lot of spunk and vigor, though Baba told me he ended up with Bulma in the timeline without me, hence Trunks and his brother.”

“Would you believe it was a childhood marriage proposal Goku mistook for food?” Buula asks you.

You lower your head. “More than I’d like to admit. And... wait, so Gohan and Videl, huh?”

“Note that Chi-chi’s Gohan is a bit older than yours. Almost the same age Videl is.” she adds.

“Ahh, were they childhood friends too?”

Buula shakes her head. “High school sweethearts, though she did see him on TV when he and Hercule fought Cell.”

You raise an eyebrow. “...Man if we had all day, I could just keep asking questions. But I guess I’ll keep it to just this one: is that why she seemed a little weirded out when we met?”

Buula looks away. “...When we got back, Pan admitted to me that she was shocked by meeting you all. Seeing, in her mind, an even happier family than hers. Part of her almost felt... like she was a mistake.”

Oh. Ohh... “S-sorry...”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY6M0UiKHBY

Buula shakes her head. “It’s not your fault, nor is it her fault. We had a talk about it, on how sometimes it seems like the grass is greener in another world, but it’s only an illusion; each world has its own ups and downs, its own struggles and triumphs, and it’s what you make of it that matters in the end.” She then places her hands behind her head. “...At the same time though, she IS still a little jealous Peppa could go Super Saiyan so early.”

You laugh. “Really now?”

The Time Patroller nods. “She still hasn’t managed it on her own, in spite of how strong she’s gotten. But I feel she’s just in need of the right push.”

“Well, tell her I’m rooting for her to do it. Oh, also that she needs a better outfit.” you finish adamantly, the two of you giggling. “Haha... so, what’s your plan to get out of here?”

You hold the die out above the lava. “Like you said before, if you cheat, it’s game over. But... has anyone ever been caught?”

He gulps, trying to keep his composure. “W-well, you see-”

“And who determines if someone gets caught or not? Those booming voices aren’t yours, are they? Someone’s watching us, observing these games, aren’t they?” Just like the cameras Towa may or may not have in your house. And... is the die... shaking?

“W-well of course there... uh... l-listen, let’s not be too hasty!” Sugoro responds, trembling.

“Has anyone ever been caught?” you repeat. “Answer me this, and we can get on with rolling.”

“M-most people don’t try to risk it. It’s just not right to... look, be careful with that!” he pleads.

“Why? What’ll happen if I drop this. It’s just an oversized die. A little heat shouldn’t hurt it too m-”

“NOOOOO!” a childish voice calls out from the die. Suddenly, it transforms into some kind of... strange, green and black cat thing. Or is it a lemur? ...Tanooki? Whatever it is, it’s bolting up the platforms over to Sugoro. “NOOO DON’T LET HER DADDY! I DON’T WANNA FALL IN THE LAVA!”

...

Did it just say “daddy?” You cross your arms as Sugoro tries to hush him. “W-what’re you doing?! You need to change back right now before they catch on!”

“BUT DADDY THEY KEEP SPINNING ME AND IT’S HARD, AND I DON’T WANNA FALL IN THE LAAAAVVAAAA!” the boy cries.

“Jig is up, Sugoro.” Buula declares. “You’ve cheated your last game.”

“CHEATED?!” a booming voice bellows out.

“HE HAS BROKEN THE RULES OF THE GAME.” another loud voice declares, this one more feminine.

“PENALTY! PENALTY! PENALTY!” a third voice repeats and echoes.

Sugoro’s face suddenly sprouts whiskers, his body becoming rounder, chubbier, until it finally resembles a larger version of the boy. He hands his head in defeat. “Oh no... no, and we were just past halfway there...”

“Halfway where?” you ask, the entire area starting to rumble as voices all around you begin to accuse Sugoro.

“The keepers of this realm said we could leave if we won 540,000,000 times in a row.”

You and Buula are taken aback. “W-what? Why?!”

“We ended up trapped here, our ship lost and with no way to return, we’d be dead if we didn’t devise some kind of plan...” he responds, voice defeatist and low, his son holding on his arm.

“You had to play all these games just to leave? What’s happened to those who lost?” Buula asks.

“I honestly don’t know, I presumed they just died or something. That’s the fate that awaited us... but now we’re all going to perish.”

The entire area begins to tremble, darkening, the board cracking and crumbling all around you. Buula thinks for a moment, and, placing her hand on your shoulder, uses Instant Transmission to teleport to Sugoro and his son. “Aha, so with the game broken, whatever was blocking our abilities is gone... hrmn. Maple, we might have a way out of here, but we’ll need to blast the whole dimension apart to do so.”

“...We’re not going to just leave them here, are we?” you ask Buula.

Sugoro and his son look up at you. “A-after all we’ve done?”

You smile at them. “You’re victims of circumstance, and... sorry for scaring you like that, kid.”

The boy wipes away his tears as his father gets on his knees and thanks you over and over. “You are truly too kind! Thank you, thank you!”

Buula shrugs. “Fine, but we don’t have much time. We have to leave this place, quick.”

You shake your head. “Not yet.” Taking a deep breath, you shout out, “Samma Ditthi!” while pointing upwards. You feel... an odd sense of apathy, boredom, almost... but also linked with a degree of malice. “I know what Sugoro did wasn’t the most moral thing in the world, but to punish him for trying to fight against a rigged system? You, whoever you all are, allowed this to continue for countless years, taking millions of lives... that’s vile! What have you really done with the people trapped here?!”

“YOU DARE, MORTAL?” a booming voice blares through the area as it crumbles further.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9vQ0jwP6ZY

Buula crosses her arms. “...No, she’s right. Whoever you all are, you’ve got no links with the Kais, the Gods, you don’t even pay lip service to King Yemma. My boss certainly knows of your type. And I doubt she approves with what you’re doing.”

“PENALTY! PENALTY! PENALTY!”

“Maple, Sugoro, kid, grab on.” Buula commands. As you all hold on, she holds her hands together, separating them and forming an orange orb of Ki, powerful and blazing. “We’re getting out of here, and you’re not going to fool anyone into these games ever again!” She raises the orb above her head, with it rapidly expanding in size, dwarfing you all... in fact, it might even dwarf Krillin’s Spirit Bomb technique. And the raw power inside it... gods, Buula might be even stronger than Mira.

As the realm begins to crack and shatter around you, the voices simultaneously declare, “FACE YOUR PUNISHMENT, MORTAL!”

“HRRAAAAAAHH!” Buula roars, throwing the sphere of energy, almost looking like a small star, down at the fracturing area. It explodes in a blinding flash, and the encroaching cracks in the area seem to be blown away, shattering the realm completely. You end up in... well, what looks like empty space.

...With several small meteors darting around you! “Maple, focus your Instant Transmission with me! I’ve got a target in mind!” Buula commands. The two of you focus, your mind getting a sense of something from hers. There’s... a figure of someone, almost looks like... ah, is that King Furry? But right as you teleport, you end up with a meteor smacking you in the fact. You all appear at what looks like a desert town... but not one on Earth. In fact, it almost looks similar to Imecka... save the very surprised inhabitant that you all appear before.

A short, canine-like alien man lets out a gasp of surprise, then starts pleading, “Please, please oh pirates, spare this poor fortune-teller, I-”

“We mean you no harm, sir.” Buula states. “Tell me, is this planet Khun?”

“Ah... y-yes? Oh, you are... travelers?” the dog-man asks.

“That we are. Hrmn... but seems we’re not that close to Earth.”

Okay, let’s see... you’re fairly far from Earth, sure, but maybe you can get in contact with someone. But who...? Ah, but of course! Bet he’ll be happy to hear you’re still kicking. Now how to get his attention...? You try to focus in on him, and telepathically joke, ‘Trapped on a desert planet again? Good thing I know a thing or two about camel-flage!’

The response you get is... not what you expect. ‘That’s just terrible. North Kai? North Kai is that you again?! Come on man, you need some better material! And what’s with your voice?’

‘...N-no, not North... Kai... who is this?’

‘Who is THIS?’ he demands. ‘And how’d you contact me?’

‘Maple Son-Mahogany, er... I guess North Kai is my King Kai.’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhB-GLmGZC8

You close your eyes and focus on this figure. He’s taller, not as round as King Kai, but dressed about the same. He stands outside a little house, disgruntled and focusing in on you in return. ‘Well, Maple, it’s rude to just come up and call someone to tell them bad jokes. You could’ve at least tried the classic refrigerator one, kid.’

You rub the back of your neck. ‘My apologies, er... which quadrant do you govern over, sir?’

‘I am South Kai, and this is the South Quadrant.’ he declares. ‘Now, I’ll let you off with a warning for this, but you better be more respectful when dealing with a Kai, young lady.’

...South Quadrant. Wait, wasn’t Broly rampaging through a galaxy down there not too long ago? ‘Again, my apologies. It’s... been a long day, but if it isn’t too much trouble, could you get North Kai’s attention? Tell him that I’m still alive.’

‘Hmnh. Fine, but only this one time. I got a new fighter that just arrived, and I’ve gotta put him through the ringer, see if he’s got what it takes. I’ll get back to you, young lady.’

Whew. Okay, now you’ve got that all settled. You turn over to Sugoro and his son. “You guys okay? That was pretty rough, but seems we all made it out in one piece.”

“More than okay! Fresh air, natural light, son, we’re free! We’re truly free!” he declares joyfully. “Ladies, we are forever in your debt. Words can’t express how thankful we are.”

You grin wide at them. “Heh, I’m just glad we put a stop to that. Now if we could find a way back home... Buula, you know this place?”

She looks back at you. “Not exceptionally well, but I’ve heard of it before. Wherever we were, it was nearly outside the normal universe. This was about as close as I could get us to Earth. That, and I could hone in on a certain Ki signature.”

The dog-man looks at her curiously. “...Have we met before, ma’am?”

“Not... exactly, but let’s just say we’ve met good fortune to find you.” she tells the alien in an unusually familiar tone.

“Ah, speaking of which... you mentioned yourself being a fortune-teller, right?” The dog-man nods. “Perfect! Have we got a fortune that needs telling!”

You and Buula explain the situation you’ve been in to the dog-man, Wan, and how you’re trying to reach Earth again. He shows some sympathy towards your perdicament, explaining that his planet was recently invaded by space pirates from planet Outa, taking over their towns and causing mayhem. You ask him if he can help you both locate Earth with his fortune-telling.

“Hmm... I could, but how do you plan on getting back there?” he asks.

You place your hands behind your head and smile. “Same way we got here, hopefully. Though... honestly, I just want to check on my family first. They must be worried sick...”

As he pulls out a crystal ball, you tell him a bit about how Auntie Baba has been training you, Wan smiling and telling you that if you help, you can get a better focus on this. Shouldn’t be too hard. The dog-man leads you all to a more shaded area, laying down a rug and placing the ball in the middle, the two of you holding your hands out and focusing as it starts to lift into the air.

You focus your mind not immediately on your family, but instead on Trip, thinking she could get the message across to everyone quicker if she takes notice of you. A cloudy image forms in the crystal ball, slowly coming into focus. You see... aha, there she is! ...Wait, Vegeta? Why’s he laying on the ground? Ah, Trip’s healing him. Have they gotten rid of the Destron Gas machines already?

The image pulls back slightly, and you see that Acer is on a bed, Chi-chi by his side. Looks like he’s unconscious, but still alive. You let out a sigh of relief, but the image in the crystal ball shakes suddenly. You try to investigate what caused it, finding Piccolo fighting against two... no, three other fighters. Agh, of course. Slug, Bongo, and King Piccolo himself.

You try your hardest to get Trip’s attention. ‘Trip... Trip... Trip, it’s me, Maple!’

She looks up, unsure if she’s hearing things. The image shakes again, and she finishes healing up Vegeta, helping him to a bed near Acer. “At least we didn’t lose them too.” she comments to Chi-chi.

Your sister-in-law looks away from Vegeta, shaking. “If Raichi has her... is he trying to keep her away from us? He hasn’t brought her back to Earth yet... I’d have thought that, with Acer...”

Trip places her hand on Chi-chi’s shoulder. “We... we will get her back.”

Agh, come on! ‘TRIP! TRIIIIIIP!’

She looks up. “...I know how this must feel. Even now, I can almost hear her voice.”

‘YOU CAN HEAR ME! I’M STILL ALIVE!’

She seems taken back in surprise, but the crystal ball’s image gets murkier, and the ground beneath your feet starts to rumble. You can sense a large group of people some distance away approaching you.

“Better idea, Miss Maple.” he tells you, the two of them transforming into rocks. Ahh, of course.

Buula nods, disappearing as you keep trying to focus on the crystal ball. Come on, Trip... ‘TRIIIIIIIP! I’M STILL ALIVE!’

She looks around, mildly agitated. “...Chi-chi, aside from those fighting Piccolo, can you sense anything?”

She shakes her head. “No... do you feel anyone else out here? Oh no, is it one of the Artificial Humans?”

“No... I do not believe it is them.”

Agh, come on! ‘TRIP! BUULA SAVED ME, BUT WE’RE TRAPPED ON ANOTHER PLANET!’

The image grows murkier. “...It can’t be.”

“Well, she heard me at least. Can’t thank you enough, Wan.”

He gets to his feet. “Not a problem, young lady. Though... your friend...?”

Buula returns with a group of blue aliens, fishlike in appearance, all tied up. “Oooh you’re in for it now, lady! When the boss hears about this, you’ll be sandworm bait!”

“I suspect these are the pirates you were talking about.” she comments to Wan. “Or a group of them.”

One of the fish-aliens looks over to Wan. “Hey... hey you’re that old geezer who wouldn’t pay up the other day! You find some new muscle, dogbreath?”

Wan gulps, moving behind you. You look to Buula. “I was able to pass on to Trip that I’m still alive. So, they have that, at least.”

The pink alien shakes her head. “No she- ...OH CRAP, RIGHT! Agh, she must be panicking! O-one sec!” Aaaand she’s jetting up into the air.

You next look over at Wan, the dog-man less agitated, but still wary. “Wan, when did these pirates start attacking your world?”

“Eh? Er... it began about 12 moons ago. They came in large number, terrorizing us and plundering our villages. They’ve been constantly raiding and pillaging, forcing everyone to pay up or else...”

“And where exactly is ‘Captain’ Turles right now?” you question.

The fish alien dismissively laughs at you. “Feh, you have a death wish, kid? Captain Turles is a being like you’ve never faced before!”

You grin smugly. “I doubt that.”

“Fool, he and his first mate are powerful beyond measure! Have you heard of a race of warriors called... the Saiyans?” the fishman asks you.

You nod. “Of course. Even married one. Popped out a couple kids too.”

The hateful, dismissive looks on all their faces seems to quickly disappear into a mix of confusion, surprise, and mild disgust. “...Oh.”

“Listen and listen well, you're all rooted under Turles’ canopy, eh? What a bunch of saps, your evil will never sprout results!”

There’s laughter, familiar laughter! ‘Good one, Maple.’

‘King Kai! Glad to hear your voice again.’ you reply, spirits lifting once more.

‘What was that about some... root, sap, what?’ South Kai’s voice adds in.

‘Oh, crap, right! Tree of Might situation!’

‘TREE OF MIGHT?!’ South Kai exclaims.

‘Hrmn... not detecting one sprouting just yet, the planet’s rather barren.’ King Kai comments. ‘You and your friend should keep a look out for it.’

‘Will do!’ Okay, before you leave, gotta prevent Turles from bringing another Tree of Might here. “I’ll ask again, where is your ‘Captain,’ where’s he hiding?”

“He isn’t ‘hiding’ anywhere you bratty alien, Captain Turles is in that big dumb temple spire thing, said he had some plans for there.”

“Wan, can you show us the way to there? I imagine that it’s a place much like my world’s Lookout, from the sound of it it’s a fairly sacred land, maybe where your Guardian resides.”

“Ah, sure, sure!” he tells you cheerfully. “But... do you really expect to stop him on your own? Even with your friend, the dread pirate might be too much for you. He bested some of our world’s best defenders...”

“I wouldn’t doubt them so readily.” Sugoro pipes in, finally transforming back to normal. “That pink lady blasted apart the entire realm that was keeping my son and I prisoner! You should’ve seen it!”

The fish aliens guffaw over the proposal. “Even if you have tamed a Saiyan, Captain Turles is sure to smash you all! His power is beyond measure!”

You take a moment to think things over. “Hmm... aside from putting up a Destron Gas machine in there and maybe prepping the Tree of Might, what else could Turles be doing there...? Ah, Wan, is there anything else in the tower that might have caught his interest?”

“Sacred texts such as the Book of Tears, and there are the Hama Charms, but... those are not treasures that would fetch any kind of price, they only have value to our people.”

“I’m sure Captain Turles isn’t interested in your dumb books, mutt!” one of the fishmen injects mockingly.

“Hmm... maybe there’s something else going on there... ah, South Kai, are you still listening in?” you ask aloud.

‘Yes, yes, I can hear you.’

Okay, got an idea! ‘That warrior that just arrived on your world... you think he might be able to help us?’

‘Eh? Papoi is dead, kid. And he’s training with me. Agh, North Kai are ALL your Quadrant’s inhabitants this pushy?’ he asks aloud, even pouting a little.

‘Well if you don’t wanna send anyone to help defend YOUR OWN Quadrant, Maple and her friend can do all the hard work themselves...’

He starts grumbling. ‘Don’t pull a West Kai on me, North Kai.’

Buula finally returns, looking like she just got yelled at by an exceptionally worried and furious parent. “Good news is I can stay to help. Might even be able to call some backup, if you want. Though WOW she was not pleased with that stunt I just pulled... thought it wouldn’t have mattered given how it usually goes.” She looks over to the space lemurs, however, and smiles. “...But she won’t have to undo anything, at least.”

You cross your arms and nod. “So, I’m feeling ready to settle my score with Turles. Ready to go?”

She cracks her knuckles. “Ready.”

You and Buula drop off the pirates before heading towards the Tower of the Prophet with Wan and the shapeshifters. You come across a large, sky-piercing spire on a hill, reminding you vaguely of Korin’s Tower, though far thicker. The sky’s color gains a dusky orange color as the sun starts its slow descent. And far at the top of it, you can sense an all too familiar presence, with a handful of much weaker Ki signatures scattered throughout the structure.

“Hrmn... Wan, do you think Turles and the other pirates have any hostages in there?” Buula asks.

“I am not sure, to be honest.” he replies. “But I would not put it past them.”

She rubs her chin. “Then we might need to be cautious. Maple, what do you propose? Confronting him directly, sneaking in and checking for prisoners, or waiting for some more backup to arrive? My boss said she might be able to get someone, while South Kai is doubtlessly trying to find a fighter that can help deal with this.”

“Hostages first. We need to free them before we get to some much-needed schnozz-decking.” you tell Buula. “And honestly, any backup we can get would be appreciated. Doubtless, Raichi and Towa have some tricks waiting for us. Hmm... Sugoro, your shapeshifting is pretty sophisticated, hard to really sense you or your son when you’re transformed. Can I count on you to help us rescue the hostages?”

The green alien looks at his son. “Shusugoro, it’s time we help repay our debts.”

“Okay!” the boy confirms cheerfully.

Buula lifts her hand. “I’ll get you some help then, Maple. It shouldn’t take too long, my boss has gotten out most of the lecturing already.”

“Heh, see you soon then.”

As the pink lady ascends to the sky, you and the shapeshifters start to make your way towards the tower, Wan staying behind as an emergency escape point. The entrance to the place isn’t guarded, but you can tell that there are a few aliens inside the first floor. Peeking in, you notice that most of them are the fishmen you saw before, however... well, guess that settles it, Turles’ Misfit Minions were brought back too, as the round, impish ones can be seen laughing with the fishmen.

You cover yourself up with a disguise as you enter into the room, the good ol' cardboard box, Sugoro and son transforming into barrels and moving along the wall slowly, helping hide your movement. You hear them chatting about the aliens’ meeting with Turles, how they were brought back from... fossils? Huh? Strange. They’re also making jokes about how their ship once crashed in what seemed to be mud... it wasn’t mud. Not the highest point in Turles’ planned conquests. Well, still, you manage to make your way through the room without anyone noticing.

The making your way up the tower, you finally spot some doglike aliens like Wan in cells, with a couple of the fish aliens guarding them... though they seem bored, tired, and you’re betting, easily distracted. You manage to sneak over to them, Sugoro and son still covering your movements. But before any of the dogs notice you, one of Turles’ goons comes down from the next floor above.

“Captain Turles has the seeds all prepped. Won’t be long now before they’re able to be planted.” a giant of a man tells the guards. Ah, you remember him, and his weird spiked shoulderpads and the braided ponytail. “All he needs now is for the fool to spill the beans on that Hama Ring thing.”

“Finally, we’ll be rid of this garbage planet.” one of the guards comments.

The brawny alien starts to head back up. “Spread the word to the others, I’ve been instructed to finish Cacao with replicating a certain... device. Heh heh heh...”

One of the guards does as told, heading down, while the other looks at the cowering dogs. “Looks like your lot is still useful. Maybe we should bring one of you up to make an example for him.” he mocks, grinning viciously.

Hmm... you might be able to knock this guy out quickly, or you could just wait until he gets distracted and start rescuing everyone.

You let Sugoro and Shusugoro know you’re about to make your move, and, as soon as the alien has his back turned, you jump out at him. “Sneak attack!” you declare quietly.

And before he has time to look back at you, you’ve hit him with a chop to the neck, knocking him down with a thud. The dog people hold back a collective gasp, while you quickly raise your hand to shush them. One of them approaches slowly. “W-who... are you?” a lady asks.

“You can call me Maple, ma’am! And don’t worry, you’ll be safe soon.” Sugoro and son transform back and approach the cell. Fairly sturdy, and using even a small Ki blast might alert some people... aha, but there seems to be a keyhole. You look over to the unconscious guard. “Hrmn... but how to get you all out of here...?”

“Allow me, Miss Maple!” Sugoro declares, eyeing the keyhole, then quickly shapeshifting into a key himself. Huh, quick thinking!

“Okay, we’ll get you all out here shortly... but who’s the person they were talking to? Does Turles have another hostage?”

An elderly dog man hangs his head. “Kami-sama, he tried to resist that pirate’s plans... they captured us to get him to cooperate. I don’t know how much more he could take...”

“I’ll get him, don’t worry... hrmn, but we need to make sure you all are safe first...”

Shusugoro raises his hand. “Miss Maple! You can teleport them all, right?”

“Sure, but then I’d need to teleport back in.” you tell the kid. “Need a familiar energy signature to focus in on...”

“I could stay in here.” Sugoro states. “You can get everyone but us out, and I can sneak out while you deal with that mean ol’ pirate!”

You clap your hands together. “Aha, great thinking, Sugoro!”

“D-daddy... will you be okay?” the little boy asks him.

He hugs his son. “Don’t worry son, we got out of that mess thanks to her help, and but I’ve still got a debt to repay.”

You have the dog-people gather around you, with Shusugoro holding on, you teleport back to Wan, to the surprise of most of the captives. He greets them all humbly, and with a quick explanation of what’s going on, you return to Sugoro. He transforms back into a barrel, and the two of you continue up the stairs.

In the next room there is the strange table with various bits of machinery on it, though with an odd, broken vase scattered around the machinery. The largest of Turles Misfit Minions stands in a corner while the cyborg member of the Corps. works with the machinery around the vase. They’re too occupied with their work to notice you, and you sneak past fairly easily.

Continuing along, you finally reach what seems to be the highest floor, a sagely dog person in shackles. The most human-like member of Turles’ group grabs the dog by the jaw, forcing it up. “Your efforts are in vain. Soon the Tree of Might will be ready to be planted, and this dust ball will finally be useful for something. So tell us where the Hama Ring is and maybe Lord Turles will be merciful.”

“You... you will not get away with this...” he growls in return.

Out of the corner of your eye you spot a new member of Turles’ group. A massive humanoid in green and black armor, with a spiky red mohawk. You... can’t really sense any Ki from him, oddly. Hrmn... one of Gero or Towa’s creations...?

...

She she finally give in and make a redheaded robot?

“My benefactors don’t actually require that ring, ‘Kami.’ It’s merely a bonus to us.” an all too familiar voice adds. Turles is seated on a throne, one with very vague similarities to the throne at the Lookout back on Earth. “It’s entirely your choice if you want your people to suffer more.”

You further notice behind him... the distinctive glow of the Destron Gas machines’ barriers. And behind them, what looks to be a large number of... crystal balls? Huh, how odd... were they stealing them from other fortune tellers? You motion Sugoro to hide in the stairway as you prepare to confront Turles.

The tall humanoid in green slowly turns his head, a monotone, almost robotic voice commenting, “...We appear to have another guest.”

“They are not a native of Kuhn.” he clarifies, turning his head towards the doorway.

“Ah, some other alien comes to try and stop my plans.” Turles surmises, chuckling to himself. “So, do you have a name, would-be hero? Or are you just a humble space duck, lost in this tower?”

No point in drawing this out. You stop suppressing your Ki, letting it rise, soar, your aura flaring around you. “Funny you make such a grand gesture, Turles. You see, you’re not dealing with the average would-be hero anymore...”

The smug grin on his face starts to slowly disappear. “...No.”

“Towa thought me dead, but I’ve risen from the grave, strong as ever. Surpassing even your Legends.”

“NO NO NO...” he growls out, jumping to his feet as you step forward. His old minion stares at you in disbelief, while the large man in green armor just looks down at you, watching quietly as you march forward.

“I’m Maple Son-Mahogany, a Super Tuffle! Ally to justice...” You point dramatically at him. “And nightmare to you, phantom!”

Turles glares down at you, transforming into a Super Saiyan. He’s definitely getting a minor boost from the Destron Gas bringing him back, this might be difficult. “You! YOU! How?! Earth should still be under siege! HOW ARE YOU HERE?!”

“Dumb luck, mostly.” you admit with a smirk.

You take your stance, offering Turles the first move. He growls out angrily, lunging towards you. “YOU BITCH!”

You cheekily use Instant Transmission to teleport behind him right before he gets to you, firing a Geist Magnum at him... oof, ow, hits him right in the butt too. Turles clumsily crashes into the wall, allowing you time to prep your Spirit Bits to keep the pressure on him, even using your telekinesis to grab some of the crystal balls behind the throne.

You fling a couple of them at Turles as your Spirit Bits keep his lackey away from you, though the man in green armor still simply watches you... and you can now tell that he is indeed one of Gero’s creations, with that big, dumb, [R><R] symbol on his armor. You’re about to fling another at Turles, but notice that there’s something inside it... what looks to be a little woman, even smaller than you.

Carefully moving it aside, Turles flies back at you, attempting a hard dropkick that cracks the floor as you dodge. He viciously tries to turn back the tide, though you score a lucky counter that knocks him out of the tower.

You look over to Daiz, grinning. He doesn’t like that, but takes a fighting stance. “You know, I gotta wonder, have you ever tried weighted outfits with that armor?”

“...What are you-”

“CLOTHES BEAM!”

You materialize 2 ton arm and leg weights on him and telekinetically pull him closer to you, and then grab him and chase after Turles. “Special delivery!”

With a loud THWACK, you hit Turles over the head with his minion, getting a couple good hits in as you blast him with your Spirit Bits. Turles finally grabs him and tosses him away. “ENOUGH!” he roars, aura blazing around him. He grabs the minion and tosses him down to the ground, the dusky sky emphasizing the gold of his aura and hair. “You’re in for a WORLD of hurt!”

Bolting towards you, you keep up the pressure with the Spirit Bits, blocking his ferocious volley of punches. “So what is Raichi trying to do with the Tree of Might? Does it even work on phantoms like you? And how DOES it feel taking orders from a Tuffle now?”

“Vengeance is a dish best served cold, you brat!” He tries to grab your hair, you only barely dodging in time. With the Raio-Ten and Kaio-ken boost, you’re about even with him, but you can’t hold off forever. “You and Kakarot will suffer!”

“Still doesn’t answer my question about the fruit!” You kick him down, Turles stopping himself and clapping his hands together, forming a ring of Ki between them. He launches it, but you’re able to dive through it, landing a hard kick to his face.

As you start to move back, you feel yourself bump into something. Foresight lets you know to get out of the way, quickly, as you see the Artificial Human floating in the air behind you. “You are an intelligent creature, Maple. I am sure you know what Towa and my father want for the fruit.”

You take a defensive stance, but note that he’s not exactly trying to attack you just yet. “...You know, I don’t really believe any of you have referred to Gero as ‘father’ before.”

“Because such a statement would not be correct. Gero only ever had one child.” 16 tells you, still coldly looking down at you.

“...Wait really?” So... oh. OH. “You’re... well huh. Nice to meet you, uh...?”

“I have very clear and specific instructions programmed within me that state that I am to kill you, Maple. You, your brother, and especially Son Goku.” 16 tells you bluntly. “But with your assumed death, my father has specified it as a lower priority... so long as I receive sufficient battle data before our plan here has been completed.”

You gulp slightly. This guy knows how strong you are, but he’s clearly not worried. Bringing your Spirit Bits back to you, you ask him, “Does Gero know about 19?”

“He is very disappointed with her. She will be dealt with.”

“Not on our watch. And you really want some battle data? Well I’m right here, big guy. Let’s see what you’ve got!” You launch yourself at 16, ready to smash him in the chest with a Hallowed Rush...

...And 16 catches your fist. “I’ve been lead to believe you’re smarter than that.” The Spirit Bits start to blast him as you try to pull away, only for 16 to pull you closer towards him and slam his fist into your gut, nearly knocking the wind out of you. “I must say, I am disappointed.”

He flings you down towards the ground, and you barely have time to form a barrier as you spot him preparing an attack. At the same time, though, you get a flash of foresight. Your Spirit Bits form a shield as Turles fires a powerful Ki blast up at you. But while your barrier manages to hold against that attack...

“ROCKET PUNCH!” 16 declares, his fist detaching and jetting down at you. It smacks into your barrier with enough force to shatter it, Turles grappling you from behind, arm around your neck.

“Finally pulling your weight, are you? Well don’t make this TOO easy, 16.” Turles tells him, putting more pressure on your neck. “I want to make sure I can SAVOR this!”

You form your barrier again, enhanced with Lighting and stunning Turles long enough that you’re able to bring your finger to his face and shout out, “GEIST MAGNUM!”

He winces and releases you, moving away. But 16 floats down slowly, his fist reconnecting with the rest of his arm. “Do you still wish to fight me?”

“You could surrender.” you reply, forcing a smile.

You brace yourself for another attack, only to spot someone flying in from behind him. “Villains! Your time is at an end!” the figure declares, looking vaguely insectoid, almost like... wait, IS THAT CELL?! No, no it’s a red insect man... with a Halo! South Kai’s fighter! “Space Pirate! Your crew has been vanquished and decimated!” he shouts at Turles. “Surrender now y-”

16 backhands him, sending him tumbling to the ground, before focusing his eyes back on you. Crap. You try to dodge as 16 tackles towards you, managing to smash into you and leave you a little dazed. He then grabs you and throws you downward, removing one of his arms again and firing a yellow beam down towards you. You don’t stop yourself in time, and the blast comes screeching at you. You prepare to take it... but notice that it doesn’t happen. A figure appears before you, shielding you from the attack with their body. You also feel someone catch you, helping you down to the ground.

“...You are new.” 16 states. “I do not have much data on you.”

“Funny, I know a lot about you, Android.” Buula’s voice declares. She looks back at you, smiling. A little damaged, but not nearly as much as you would have taken. “Sorry we’re late, Maple.”

You look over to the “we” she mentioned... a girl with straight, black hair under an orange bandanna, fairly young, maybe even younger than Videl and Pantea are now... yep. It’s her. And you can’t help it. “...That shirt is entirely too small for you, young lady.”

“H-hey! What kind of thanks is that?” she bemoans, pouting at you.

You pat her head, giggling. “Nice to see you again... Pan, was it?”

Turles bolts back up towards 16, Buula and Pan standing together with you. Further away you spot the insect-man finally start to stand up, dusting himself off. Turles glares down at you. “And who the hell are you two? More Earthling brats?!”

“16 is definitely not supposed to be here. Nor is he supposed to be that strong.” Buula tells you quietly. “I can probably hold him off myself, but the bigger problem is Turles. Maple, Pan, you two focus on him.”

The girl seems to pout at him, her hand moving up to her hair. She sighs out grumpily as she twirls it through her fingers. “Mmnh. If even he could do it...”

“Focus, Pan.” Buula reminds her. “You’re strong enough to beat him without it.”

“You know, Pan, if you keep making that face it’ll get stuck that way. Just ask Krillin.” you comment to the girl.

“N-no it won’t!” she barks out, a little embarrassed.

“STOP IGNORING ME!” Turles roars, bringing a ball of Ki above his head and launching it down.

https://youtu.be/CqmbKNdpHHQ

You and Pan nod at each other, dodging aside to avoid it. You form a Sphere of Ki of your own in your palm, while Pan dashes up and kicks Turles in the face. You declare “SAMMA VACA!” and then hit him with an MP Buster as you bring out the Lunar Siren. Heh, little ironic, given he still has his tail.

Turles attempts to shove a Ki blast at the girl’s face, but is caught- off-guard when it dissipates, Pan grabbing him by his armor’s shoulder pads and tossing him over her head, launching him with a hard kick to the gut. As Turles tries to stop himself, you let the kid get a boost with the Lunar Siren, Pan looking back at you in surprise. You flash her a thumb’s up, and she immediately flies above him, smashing her elbow into his back and sending him into the sand.

The Super Saiyan pushes himself out of it and glares up at you in fury, only for you to teleport below him and deliver a palm strike to his chin. He tries to grapple and chop at you, but the Izumi Combo counters his attacks and knocks him back down. As he tries to stop himself from falling, Pan dashes down and smashes her fist into his chest, causing Turles to gasp in pain.

And... wow, Buula wasn’t kidding! Sure she’s getting a boost to her strength from the Lunar Siren, but Pan’s easily almost as strong as you are with the Raio-Ten. No telling how strong she’d be WITH Super Saiyan. The girl moves back to you, the two of you standing side-by-side. She gives you a glance and a smile, asking but one thing, “Kamehameha?”

You cup your hands behind you and charge the attack up. You and Pan both simultaneously declare, “Kamehamehaaaaa!”

Turles tries to brace for the attack, but it catches him before he has a chance, and he’s blasted into the air with the combined Kamehameha. He’s able to keep himself afloat, but he’s taken critical amounts of damage. One more attack might put him down. Turles stares at you with pure, unfiltered rage in his eyes. “I WILL KILL YOU BOTH SLOWLY!” His aura flares up once more. He’s going to put everything he has left into this next attack.

“Too bad, Turles, today just isn’t your day... I almost feel bad for you.” You charge up once more, glancing at the girl again. “Pan, last shot. Let’s take this guy down! And... how about we do this the way your grandpa beat him here?”

She gets a little excited and nods with a confident “Okay!”

You both fly up, charging at Turles as he lunges down. “DIE YOU BITCH!” he screams... but you fire a Geist Magnum in his face right as he does so, causing him to stumble. You and Pan both blast at him at full speed.

“KAIO-KEN! TIMES SIX!” you shout out. The two of you ram into Turles, flying forward with him and pushing as hard as you can. And... for a brief moment, you almost feel Pan’s Ki surge alongside yours. The sheer force of your attacks eventually plow right through the Super Saiyan, you and Pan punching through him, and then through the Destron Gas machine’s barrier, and finally the machine itself.

A pair of explosions behind you, with Turles rage-filled scream, finally signifies that indeed, he’s gone. Pan stands beside you, grinning wildly. “That was amazing! Amazing! Wow! We did it!”

You raise your fist, the two of you tapping them together. “Step-Granny Maple’s proud of you, kiddo!”

She rubs the back of her neck bashfully. “Aheh, thank y- oh... ah, right... was kinda... forgetting about that.” She pokes her fingers together.

“I do mean it though. You’re something else.” You give the girl a pat on the back. “But we’re not done yet, Buula’s still fighting off 16.”

“Ah, right! Okay, let’s get ‘em!” Pan declares. Aww, she really is a lot like lil’ Peppa.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5SWRUhgcN8

You see that while the pink lady is managing her own, she seems to be more focused on blocking, dodging, and keeping 16‘s attacks from hitting her. And she is quite nimble, but 16 hasn’t really taken much damage. You also spot the red, insectoid man close by, observing their movements. As you and Pan join Buula, you take a breath and prepare yourself. “Okay, first time trying this out for real.” Your mind retraces the steps it’s taken, the lessons it’s learned, until finally... “SAMMA SAMADHI!”

Pan looks down at her hands in surprise as she starts to feel her strength grow once more, Buula also catching a glimpse of you, smiling confidently as her strength is boosted once more. “Well 16, looks like your time’s up. I’ve been saving this... KAIO-KEN!” The blazing red aura of the oh so familiar technique surrounds her, boosting Buula’s already impressive strength to even higher levels.

16 immediately recognizes where the boost to their strength is coming from, and twin beams shoot out from his eyes. Your foresight gives you plenty of warning, though, and you dodge his attacks expertly, letting Pan get a chance at delivering a powerful uppercut to his giant chin. Buula blazes around him, taking turns with Pan as they pummel 16, each hit starting to fracture and crack his armor.

The Artificial Human attempts to counter them both with a grab, but the girls back away, both of them charging attacks. 16 clenches his fists and fires them both out, but right before they make contact, Pan and Buula feint him with afterimages, firing at his front and back. From the still-open sections of his arms, he begins to charge a pair of beams, flying upwards. But before he can fire, the red, insectoid fighter manages to get up in front of him, giving him what looks like... a point-blank Solar Flare, right in 16‘s face!

Pan and Buula then both fly up, charging Ki in their hands... charging so much that it just starts flowing out, bits of it barraging 16 as they charge. Buula and Pan then bring their hands forward, almost like they’re firing one of Vegeta’s Final Flash attacks, but at a much closer range. Their attacks engulf 16, a brilliant explosion following!

...But while it does substantial damage to him, 16‘s not quite dead yet. Gods, how tough is this guy? Well, it has eaten away at his armor, even taken out a chunk of his head, exposing circuitry underneath. 16‘s arms finally reattach as he starts to move away. “...While I do not know who you two are exactly, I do know you work for an enemy of my father. This battle data will prove useful, but it seems I have underestimated you two.” The android looks down at you. “You have won this battle, Maple Son-Mahogany.”

“Well, I guess we have, haven’t we?” you tell him, crossing your arms. “16, when you do get back to Gero, tell him this: 19‘s not his puppet anymore... and keep in mind you don’t have to be either.”

“He will not appreciate those words.” 16 tells you bluntly.

“We can help you if you want.” you reiterate. Hmm... maybe you could get the guy into a bottle with the Mafuba...

16 points to his head. “I call Gero my father for a reason, Maple. This body is mechanical, this mind is programmed...” He moves his hand down to his chest. “But this soul is true to the man I was modeled on. I refuse your offer.”

“Wait-!”

But before you can get to him, you spot Churai appear behind him, giving you a little wave before teleporting away. Pan, Buula, and the red bugman move towards you again. The dead fighter finally greets you. “Excellent fighting there, ladies. Heh, guess King Kai’s worries were for nothing.”

“You still cleaned up the rest of the pirates there, might have had to fight them too if we didn’t get here sooner.” Buula tells him.

“Er... who... are you, exactly?” Pan asks.

“The name’s Torbie, young lady, I’m one of King Kai’s strongest fighters. Been training under him for years now, but never thought I’d be back in the land of the living once more.” He looks down at the ground, and you see Wan, Sugoro and son, and the rest of the captives wave to him. “Feels good, helping people again.”

“Ah, we can talk this over once we get some ice cream! It’s on me!” you add with a friendly laugh. “Ah, and Pan... you up for trying on some new outfits?~”

She seems to scoot away, forcing a smile. “Sounds... lovely...”
