You are William Pierce. You are also Will2Fight, the level 73 Foxtail Monk, and the hero who pointed out the unlit beacon that could have gotten everyone in town killed. It has been four days since you arrived in the world of Elder tale. You still have no idea why you or anyone else ended up here, but now that you are here, you think you will try to enjoy it.

After a long night of partying to celebrate the fact that everyone isn't going to die yet, you went back to your house and crashed on your bed. While it isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, it does the job when you are blackout drunk.

Now that you are no longer black out drunk, and instead have a massive hangover, it is actually quite uncomfortable… Thankfully, you have a way to deal with hangovers. You cast resilience and the yellow and green bubbles that surround you take the pain away. It’s the little things that really make you love this world. At least until the bad little things make you not love it again.

There are a lot of those, but the main one you take issue with is the fact that pretty much any food except simple ingredients has the taste and texture of soggy cardboard.

Beer used to be like that too more or less. Until you found a way to make real beer using your Brewer subclass, that is. Now that you have found out how to make it, you plan to make the most of it. To do so, you and your friend Paradigm pooled your money, got a loan from a friend of yours, then used it all to buy a bar from some of the people of the land.
>>
>>2212348
Speaking of Paradigm, over the last few days, the two of you have grown relatively close. After you met and hung out for a while, the two of you ended up getting a house together. Ever since then, you have been with her pretty much the whole time. Its fun. You like being with her. It makes you happy. It seems to make her happy too. Since you have never really been in a relationship, you aren't quite sure how close you really are, or what it means exactly, but you do know that you really enjoy each-others company. You also know some other things about her, for example, her name is Sarah, she has a friend named Ari in Big Apple, she is 22, and she has generally good taste.

Honestly, that seemed like more things before you listed them…

While you may not know if this is love or something else, you do know that you want to learn more about her. Even if it isn't exactly love, maybe it will be some day. You don't think you would mind that at all.

Anyways, now that you have gone completely off topic, what should you do today? Looking at the clock, its… Well shit. Its 3 Pm. You really overslept. Does it even matter if you oversleep? Since you don't plan to open up the bar until later tonight, its not like you have anything better to do really…

Now that you are done reflecting, you feel like it is about time you get up and get at least something productive done today.

You pull yourself out from under the covers with just a bit of hesitation and equip your warm leather jacket and pants as quickly as possible. You are used to cold mornings as a New Englander, especially after winter storm Grayson took out your power for half a week this year, but you still wish this house had central heating. You feel sorry for Paradigm. It must suck extra hard considering she lived in California. You decide to let her sleep and enjoy the warm bed for a while longer.

Instead, you head to the temporary workshop room and start brewing some ciders. Since you own a bar now, you should probably level up when you can, right? You assume that in the 25 levels between you and 90 there are at least a few good new drinks. Thankfully, the ingredients for ciders are plentiful here and they still give you good EXP rates till around 80.

As you grind, you decide to give your brother a call.

Ring… Ring… Ring.

"Yo, whats up?"

"Figured I would give you a call while I was grinding."

"Oh? Whats that? Did you finally find a Girlfriend?"

"Other kind of grinding." you quickly try to shoot him down before he can get going.

"Hmm? But I'm not wrong, am I?" Dammit, it didn't work.

"Sort of?"

"Your voice totally gives you away bro."

"Alright, fine, I do have a girl I'm interested in, but that’s all I'm saying."

"Fine, Fine… So, what are you calling about anyways?" he asks.
>>
>>2212846
"Wanted to make sure you were doing alright and give you some news."

"Oh boy." He says expectantly "Is the news as useful as last time?"

"More dangerous than useful I would say…"

"Well that doesn't sound good, let me guess, raid bosses are attacking the city?" wait, what?

"How did you know?!"

"The hats have been buzzing about it recently. They try to keep it quiet, but some of us are just happen to be good listeners."

"And you are one of those good listeners?"

"You could say that." he says. You aren't sure what that is supposed to mean… Maybe he just knows one of them personally though, its not too farfetched. "Anyways, since you wanted to give me some news, its my turn now. Tell your engineer friend that she can make real world machines. Every Engineer in the city is busy making one for a race."
Click.
Every dam time.

Well, at least he gave you some useful info again. You two had already figured out that you could make things that didn't originally exist here, but you still weren't sure how far that went.

Racing real world machines in the world of Elder Tale. That’s pretty cool.

You keep brewing while contemplating the possibilities for a while, until you are brought out of your thoughts by the ding indicating you have leveled. 66 Brewing. Neat. You can brew a "Rusty Dagger" now. The description in the menu says it gives you some armor pen, but unfortunately, it’s a bit expensive since its ingredients are common in the south rather than Portage.

Oh well.

Its 4:39 Pm. What should you do now?
[ ] Its about time to head out to the bar for the night.

Honestly you don't have to do too much to keep it running, you kept the Lander staff who worked there when you bought it on so you would have people who actually know how to run a bar available.
Basically, you are the owner, you still have managers who can run the place autonomously when you aren't there.

Now that you are one level stronger of a brewer, you figure that you and Paradigm should probably head to the bar. It is your first normal night as the owners after-all. You kinda feel like it wouldn't be right to leave the crowd that will probably swamp the place all to the Landers.

You leave the workshop and go to knock on Paradigm's door.

No response. You knock again

No response. How long does she plan to sleep?
"Answer or I'm coming in."

"Five more minutes…" says her groggy voice from inside the room.

"Its after 4:30 in the evening."

"Oh, alright, ten more minutes then…"

"Ok, Im coming in."

"Noooo~ I'm naked!"

"Then put some clothes on!"

"But then I would have to get out of bed!"

"Its way past time to get out of bed though." you plead.

"But its so cooold!"

You feel sorry for her, but it has to be done. You don't want to let her become a stay in bed NEET after all.

"Im coming in in two minutes to get you up, naked or not."

"Perv."

"Yep, I'm gonna feast my eyes on your body and the only way to stop me is by getting up and putting on clothes."

"Nooooo~"

You wait a minute, she doesn't come out.

You wait another minute. The seconds slowly count down, but you still don't hear her moving. Shit, she has called your bluff.

No. Not today. She can't call your bluff if you aren't bluffing.

You are going in there and getting her.

You open the door. The room is moderately dark, but in the twilight leaking through the blinds, you can see a lump on her bed. She is hiding under her covers.

"I told you I was coming in."

"Perv." Her muffled voice leaks out through the quilt.

"You say that, but you are the one who didn't put on clothes after I told you I was coming in."

"You are still a perv."

"Yep."

She peeks her head out from under the covers.

"Did you really want to see me naked that bad?" you can barely tell in the dim light, but she is blushing.

"Nope. I just want you to get out of bed and come to the bar with me."

"Yeh, right… Suuuuure you did…"

"If you promise to get up, I can leave the room and you can come out."

"Nope." she says with a huff. "I'm not moving. You are gonna have to get me up."

This girl is too bold. You cant keep up with her pace. You can feel your cheeks heating up from nervousness as well. Shit, you just have to go for it.

You reach for the covers and pull them off her… She doesn’t even resist.

You get an eyeful of her body.

In the twilight that leaks in through the blinds, you can see everything.

You stare at her for a minute taking it all in.

She sticks her tongue out at you. She is wearing her enchanters robes. You feel like an idiot again.

She must have equipped them under the covers without getting up.

You feel the red in your cheeks change from nervous anticipation to awkward embarrassment. Were you expecting something? Maybe you were? Even with her body like that, maybe you would have liked to see…

"You really area perv~" she says swinging her legs off the bed.

Her enchanter staff appears in her hand as she equips it. She bonks you on the head with it lightly then stands up.

"Alright, lets get going." she says. "You are carrying me there. Seeing as you are all heated up, you can replace my covers for now."

Dammit, you just can't seem to win against her…

You sigh and pick her up then head out to the bar.

When the two of you get there, it is just about 5. The landers are just taking the closed sign down, there is already a small line of adventurers waiting to go in.
You greet them and head inside.

You head behind the bar and attempt to pour a beer. Its difficult with only one free hand.

"Can I put you down yet?" you ask the dwarf latched onto your other arm.

"Only if you put me down near the fireplace. Oh and get me a beer."

"Actually, no, make it a hot chocolate." she changes her mind after a second of thought.

"Fine." you say bringing her over to the fireplace, "Do you want me to tuck you in and give you a goodnight kiss too?"

"Nah, a hot chocolate is fine." she says smirking at you "Perv."

After you make her a hot chocolate and give it to a lander woman to bring to her, you head back to the bar. Several adventurers are seated now.

"So, what can I get you fine gentlemen tonight?" you ask.

"Beer please." says a lv 65 guardian named GoldenGuard

"I'll have a cider." says a level 81 Summoner named PheonixPhyre

"I'm really a woman, so give me the hardest thing you have." Says an obviously male lv 70 Assassin named EdgeOfKnife in an obviously girly voice.

The three of you give her a look of pity.

"Yeh, yeh, I don’t need your pity, I just need to drink myself into a coma."

"One coma, coming up." you say handing her a bottle of "The Stuff". "It doesn't taste like anything, but don't drink it too-"

"He" has already downed the entire bottle and collapsed backwards out of "his" seat.

"Fast..." You figure you probably shouldn’t serve this anymore… Its so bad that you literally had to leave it flavorless to get a sip of it down when you tried it. You assume it is the game's version of absinthe, a drink that generally has an alcohol content over 50% IRL.

"He'll be alright, right?" GoldenGuard asks.

"Should be, I mean you could drink it in game and your character was fine..." Although sometimes it did cause some random damage and occasionally a bad status…

"Close enough." he says.

You pick up the assassin and bring him over to a bench near the fireplace, then ask a nearby cleric to make sure he is OK. He agrees in exchange for a free beer and you head back to the bar.

"So, what do you guys think about this world so far?"

"The food sucks." PheonixPhyre says.

GoldenGuard, you, and another person who sat in EdgeOfKife's seat all nod in agreement.

"Other than that?" you ask.

"Its alright I guess. He says. Magic is fun, plus I get to have pets now. My parents and landlords never let me have a dog before, now I basically have a dog who does shoots magic lasers."

"That’s pretty cool. Are carbuncles really like a dog?"

"Sort of." he says. "They are smart and friendly, but they don't really seem to do much unless you tell them too."

"Maybe it’s a training thing? Like think of it, how long did you play on that character?" asks the newcomer, a lv 88 Druid lv 85 Berserker elf named TreeTHUGger, usually elves look slim and tall, but this guy's character is built. Its kinda funny.

"Two years."

"So that means the Carbuncle has been with you for like 24 of its years, and only in the last 5 days have you treated it like an actual animal."

"You know what, that’s a pretty good point." he says. "That definitely makes sense. Maybe if I try to treat it like a pet it will be a little more engaging."

"Who knows." You say, "Its equally possible that that’s just how summons always are considering how easily they go along with your orders in game."

"Maybe. Either way, I have always wanted a dog, so I'll see if it works." he concludes.

The three of them order some more drinks as they continue talking.

Eventually, the conversation turns towards real life. As the adventurers start to talk about their families, you find yourself losing your interest in the conversation. Instead, as your mind wanders, you eventually find yourself looking at the dwarf near the fireplace.

Now that you think about it, you really don't know all too much about her, do you? You want to though, so you walk over and sit next to her on her bench.

"Come to harass me some more?" she teases. "Were you not satisfied this morning?"

"You mean this afternoon? Frankly, I wasn't." you respond.

"Oh? How so?~" she says scooting closer.

"We haven't hung out yet today and its already 7." you say.

"Well, I guess that’s true. Were you lonely this morning?"

"Nah, I woke up at 3 myself."

"Oh. What are you complaining about then?"

"I dunno. I was just talking with some guys at the bar and they started talking about home."

"And?"

"And it made me think that I barely know anything about you."

She covers her chest dramatically. "You want to know my size? I'm actually a B cup. Perv."

That was more information than you were expecting… but not what you were after.
You shake your head.

"I meant I wanted to know more about you as a person."

"So that’s it? What do you wanna know?" she asks, throwing part of her blanket over you and snuggling up with your tail.

"And before you answer, you better be prepared to tell me your side in return." she adds.

"Deal."

You think for a bit and decide.
"Where are you from? You said you were an overseas student, right?"

"Yeh, I'm from Japan." You had a hunch, but now you know for sure.

"And before you ask, I didn't lie about my name, that’s just the English version I usually use. Its really Saya. Saya Yamada." she says. "Feel free to use either one, but everyone but Ari calls me Sarah."

"Alright. I'll make sure to call you Saya then." You aren't sure if she is happy about that or just amused, either way, you are pretty sure she could tell you would do that.

"And you?"

"I'm from Massachusetts. Well, really im from New Hampshire, but I have lived in Massachusetts for the longest. Honestly I think of myself as more of a Mass guy no matter where I was born. In the last few years, I moved around New England a bit, but I just ended up coming back in the end. You already know it more or less, but my full name is William Pierce."

"That’s a nice name. It sounds strong. William Pierce. Like a prince or hero or something. " she says stroking your tail.

"Thanks." You aren't sure how to respond to that, mostly because her name reminds you of anime more than anything else. That’s not to say it isn't a good fit, Its just that you don't know heads or tails about the language beyond anime.

"So where in Japan were you from?"

"A smallish town up north in Hokkaido. Its kinda out there in the country. I was never a huge fan of how rural it was, so when I came to the states I ended up in California where everyone lives in the city and its always busy."

"How do you like it?"

"Its alright, but sometimes I miss home. The city life was exciting and full of action, but sometimes I wanted to slow down and just couldn't."

"I totally get what you mean. I've lived in New York, Providence and Boston. They were crazy and fun, but I could never really get used to any of them. I'm definitely a suburbs type of guy in the end."

"That sounds nice." She says. "Not like it really makes any difference now, but I would probably like living in the suburbs."

"Yeh, at least you can get a chance to slow down now that we are stuck here."

"True, I guess. It might be a bit too slow though. And let me tell you something else. The one thing I didn't miss about Hokkaido was the cold. Fuck the cold."

"As someone who has lived in New England for most of my life, I would probably agree with that if I knew any better. Its just natural to me at this point." you respond.

"If that's so, you should help keep me warm some more." She says.

You blush a bit, but then she bonks you on the head with her empty cup and you realize she meant to get her another warm drink.

She relinquishes her hold on your tail and you stand up to grab the two of you some more hot chocolate.

She seems to be expecting you to sit with her some more…

You bring the cups of hot chocolate back over to her and she lifts up her blanket so you can get in again.

"Man, I reallly wish I was a FoxTail now." she laments.

"Eh, sometimes its great, but if you are unlucky, sometimes it really sucks."

"I was talking about the tail." She says grabbing it again and stroking it. "Its soooo warm and fluffy and I just want to hug it forever! That and the normal body. Being small sucks." she says as she continues to snuggle. Maybe you should tell her how lewd the whole tail petting thing feels… She is really loves it though, so you aren't sure you want to ruin it for her.

"Yeh, the tail is definitely nice." Veeerry verry nice. You are pretty sure foxes IRL aren't like this, right? Does that means that whoever created Foxtails in this world had a fluffy tail fetish? You aren't really sure, but you give thanks to them anyways.

"So, back to getting to know eachother better?"

"Sure. What do you want next? My three sizes? You beast~"

"Actually, I was wondering about what you did at school."

"Sure, but you go first. I went first last time so its only fair."

"Fine with me. I failed out of college in my first year."

"Wait, what?!"

"Yep. Its as bad as it sounds. I was a real lazy shit. Too many video games and too little going to classes. I guess I couldn't handle all the freedom."

"Wow, that totally changes my opinion of you…" she looks at you with something approaching disgust.

"I hope it doesn't ruin it too much." You say, "because after that my parents kicked me out with less than a thousand bucks in my wallet and I had to work my ass off until I could get back in on my own terms. I'm in my second year of taking 6 classes a term now."

"Really?"

"Yeh. It was hard, but I think it was for the best. That’s what made me the Will you know now. The other Will was completely different, and I never plan to go back to being him."

"Shit dude, that was waaay heavier than I was expecting…" She hugs onto you. "I'm sorry I made you talk about it."

"Its fine, I don't mind it anymore." You stroke her short, light blue hair to communicate to her that you don’t really mind. "As long as you don't ask me to talk about my parents. As far as I'm concerned, the only family I have is my little brother."
>>
>>2214648
"Alright. I'll give you that one as a freebie… My parents were nice and I never had a sibling."

"Thanks, if you tell me too much more though, I might get jealous." You ruffle her hair a bit. "What was your school life like?"

"It was fun. And busy. I came to America for my freshman year of college l and have been here since then. When I first came here, I was pretty lonely, so I ended up mostly just hanging out with the other Japanese exchange students. I met Ari pretty early on…"She goes back to stroking your tail with her free hand, and you continue stroking her head. "Oh, her real name is Aika, Ari was her English name. Anyways… We became friends relatively quick, we had similar taste in a bunch of stuff, especially games and anime, we were both excited to be in America, and we were both a little lonely too."

"I would bet, I have never even been out of the country, except for when I went to Canada, and that’s basically the same place except colder, Frencher, and more polite." you say.

"Heh." she giggles, "I don’t think Frencher is a word…"

"Close enough, you get what I mean."

"Yeh, so after I met Ari, we applied to be roommates in our sophomore year, and we lived together since then. She's much nicer than me I think, but she doesn't really get along with people as well. She's too timid. Either way, she's my best friend."

"No wonder you are so worried about her." you say.

"Yeh, I don't even know what is going on in Big Apple, and last time I called me she was crying."
Shit, you want to help her but you don't know if there is even anything you can do…

"I'm sure we can figure out some way to help her." you say stroking her head gently.

"Yeh. If you say it, I know we can." she says.

You can definitely do that if you get votes for it. Almost every post includes writeins as an option and I have put this as a choice a few times.
>>
>>2214651
I just had a thought... her friend is in Big Apple and we know people from [KKK] so we could ask them to help her or look out for her since they have presence in NY. That way we wouldn’t need to worry too much and we could take our time with any retrieval plans. Also it would prevent her from getting stuck in a wrong guild.
>>
>>2214651
>Tell her about the race that's happening. If she wants to go help, a fast machine would be one of the first requirements.
>>
>>2214733
You could, but you aren’t sure if the KKK would agree. You could always ask Hiroshima, you assume he might be pretty well connected if he has been with them as long as DesertFox said.
>>
>>2214739
If you plan to do that though, you should probably hurry. They are leaving Big Apple soon.
>>
>>2214741
Indeed. We will need to do that now or never
>>
>>2214741
Let's do it. The KKK is gathering anyway so a safe journey out of the Big apple would be better for Ari.
>>
>>2214741
We could probably go with them. I think a good end-goal is to pave a road or otherwise safe passage from Portage to the Big Apple. A train, or maybe even getting those transport gates up, maybe?
>>
>>2214762
I’ve only seen the anime. Was there even a way to turn on the portals in the novels?
>>
>>2214780
No idea. Don't think it was ever expounded upon in the novel, but I can't know for sure, since I haven't read it before. Still, considering the existence of True Levers, it might be possible. Maybe.
>>
>>2214782
Honestly it feels a bit more lovecraftean than I remember it. When i wrapped up with the second season I had an inpression that there were basically energy vampire aliens and observer aliens that caused the entire mess with obvious implications. I have no idea what the lever is or who the person with a lot of static is. However I am not a really attentive observer and I probably missed a lot of clues.
>>
>>2214663
Air ships shouldnt be too hard to pull off.

If we can get some summoners hired who have fire based summons, get them to heat a large Balloon by standing around together under the main air hatch, should work fine. Would need to employ people on rotation shifts and make the craft light, but totally doable.

Also to note: eventually people are going to figure out food. Get a damn chef, fuck the secrecy we are just going to get bit in the ass via resentment for holding onto it for too long.
>>
>>2214798
There is the chaos minions who came to the game as the raid mobs. But some special npc, such as the stactic man acquired life because they were part of the system, think of then as living anti virus or demi gods put by the game developers to keep the game/plot rolling. Basicaly these chaotic creatures wants to desteoy the world so they can go on to the next and keep destroying it. Maybe the next stop will be another world. Maybe elder tale was created as a artificial barrier so this destructive creatures wouldn't be able to reach earth and destroy it, that last part is more a especulation of my on.

Basicaly raid mobs and boss mobs are evil. Certain NPC's Quest quiver's reached a certain enlightment knowledge of the game world. So in a meta knowledge, the stactic man is a powerfull npc 'quest quiver' that wants to prepare elder tale for upcoming horde of chaotic creatures. And the fact that the players were starting to leave the game, as it's stated by some of the people in the novel, most only came back to the game due to the recent update. The way to keep the creatures from causing warm and make sure the players would help was by trabsferimg then to the game world.
>>
>>2214801
well that's why I'm trying to get that pipeline done STAT. If people figure out the alcohol/food thing before we have a more permanent system for the braziers, Morning Star will implement their system with or without our consent.

I think we should suggest macnines yes, but I don't think it would be wise to fly. It was mentioned that the only flying mount can't get across so I think weather and hostile mobs would mess us up. It would be better to use machines in combination with a player caravan. Like an APC/mobile shelter. And we need to suggest [kkk] because there are no downsides. She can refuse if she doesn't trust them.
>>
>>2215545
Don't forget to bring the bards so they can sing while we cross the undead plains in our war machines.

Althought a railroad would be better but it would require a LOT of resources.
>>
>>2215577
I think railroad is a bit unrealistic. It will require steel mass production and months to lay into already prepared ground by a ton of workers. Unless construction classes have abilities to crap out multistory buildings in days and automate repetitive labor we might be better off doing something else. For some reason I had the idea of a summoner builder that uses summons for heavy lifting.
>>
>>2215589
Depending on what requires an engineer to build, you could use summons to do the bulk of the work while an engineer bolts it all together.

"We could try building some kind of machine." you say remembering what your brother told you.

"What do you mean?"

"With engineering. My brother told me that engineers are making machines, like cars and stuff, down in Boulder to race them."

"Really? That’s pretty cool. I thought it might be possible if we could make that cart, but cars are pretty advanced." she says.

"To be fair, I don't know if anyone is making actual cars, but maybe they could eventually."

"Even if they do make cars, what would they do for roads?"

"I dunno, all the highways in the game are basically just ruins. I guess we would have to start over fresh with them." you answer.

"That sounds like a lot of work… maybe someone should just make off-road cars."

"Yeh, that would probably be better."

"On top of that though, then you would have to deal with avoiding all the natural barriers like rivers, mountains, and raid zones."

"What about airplanes? Maybe you could just fly over them?"
"No idea. I don't know the first thing about IRL engineering, and so far, when I tried, I only knew how to make the recipes instinctually. Oh, that and I could also tell if it would be structurally sound."

"Maybe you will be able to do more at higher levels?"

"Who knows. We could try grinding it, but for all we know, it may be a waste of time, especially when we could use that time grinding mobs so we could just walk out of here."

"True. Maybe we could ask one of the level 90s?"

"That might be a good idea. Probably not now though since its so late…"

"Yeh. For now, we could try making a paper airplane when we get home just to make sure its even possible to fly something."

"Sounds good to me. Thanks again for trying to help her…"

"No problem, she is important to you, and you are important to me, so transitively, she is important to me. That’s how it works, right?"

"Pfft. Yeh, I guess so." she says stroking your tail.

The main problem i think the other anon is concern is that it would take a fuck ton of resources and mutiple engenieers to build it. Don't forget if we want shit to work or build stuff that wasn't in the game before, we need to build it by hand.

So we would need blacksmiths to shape the metal, a Mechanic to ride the thing.

"Do you think they would?"

"I don't know, do you think its even a good idea?"

"Sure, why not? /pol/ likes Japanese people, right? We are honorary. Its probably better than her being alone at least." she says "Plus, Chasta is a lot closer to us than Big Apple, if we can get ourselves out of here, maybe we can meet up with her sooner that way."

"Alright, should I give Hiroshima a call?"
"Sure, just let me call her and ask her if she is interested first."

"K." You wait a bit as Paradigm calls her friend.

"Yeh. If you can work something out with them, she says she wants to go as soon as possible."

"Alright, lets hope he can help."

Ring… Ring..

"Hello?"

"Yo. Whats up?"

"We were wondering if you could do us a favor."

"Well, that depends. What sort of favor?"

"Paradigm has a friend in Big Apple, we were wondering if you could ask your clan-mates to bring her to Chasta with them."

"Yeh, that’s probably doable, at least as long as she isn't a liability. They are going in a mass caravan to Dixie tomorrow. If she tags along, one more person shouldn't be any problem." Looks like you timed that perfectly…

"When do you think they will reach Chasta?"

"If our navigation officers are correct, it will probably take just short of a month. There is a lot of land to cover after all." /pol/ has navigation officers? That’s actually rather interesting, you never bothered learning anything about their guild hierarchy, but having officers seems to fit your image of them.

"Alright."

You relay the information to Hiroshima.

"Alright, I'll tell him. Tell Paradigm to call her and tell her that we can take her there and to add GrandWizard."

"K. Thanks again."

"Yeh, no problem, it’s a tough time, so friends gotta look out for each-other, right?"

"Yeh. Hopefully I can pay you guys back for all the help some time."

"Just give us a bunch of booze when we eventually go and we are solid." Apparently they plan to leave too at some point. Maybe that could be your own ticket out of here?

"Will do."

"Later man.

"Later."

"He says he can probably do it for you. Just have her add GrandWizard and they will get things taken care of."

"That’s good." she looks a bit relieved. "I'll tell her when we get home." she says standing up.

>>

That is actually an interesting idea. We need to plan to do a ‘turing test’ on one of the npc. But in not a weird way. Like taking some quality booze and popping up at main quest giver’s place for a chat. Say, to thank him for quick response to the whole shebang that happened with the fires. Just chat about random things with intent to pull some information on their perspective and to reaffirm that they are indeed self aware.
>>
Also in meta unralated note we should buy the cathedral and kick the sage in the groin. But i guess our limit in buying stuff only comes from adding the house and the bar.
>>
>>2216015
except the sage he's a asshole. He already was a asshole before we came ro the game. But as a meta it's most likely because they don't think the adventure's as people since we can't die, and acording to their lore we were send by their gods to protect then from the monsters
>>
>>2216025
Why? He is a dick but he has a really important job. Also we are not maxed out and swimming in riches. We have a bar on a loan that gets us money that won’t last forever as the secret is based mainly on world’s physics and anyone can independently invent tasty booze and normal food at any moment even without people slipping up. We don’t have large guild hall worth of gold for pranks or ego stroking.

Well i mean he is the only npc with a name we care about. Alternatively we could chat up some npc workers in the bar but it feels like it would give us little info. Sage is there and knows shit. We can tolerate some assholeness and maybe he is less grumpy when with booze that actually has a taste. Plus other adventurers probably treat him like shit anyway so it would be a unique precedent for him.

Well guess we need to interact with him. Maybe let him have a taste of the Morning Stars shooting him down a peg. But i do agree in talking with other landers. Beside players they are the main source of ingredients in this place.

But then we would need to sell it to someone and anons seem to be happy in keeping the secret. I say we get a lander chef, and teach him how to cook like we do. Although i think that requires you to be a chef and add someone as your apprentice.

About keeping it a secret I think we will be better off if we sell as close to ‘the last possible moment’ as possible. The lonker we keep the secret the more well known the bar is and the more we risk losing the secret instead of keeping. We need some inertia behind the brand before we sell off to keep consumers after we sell the secret.

I agree we need to wait at least one week before selling the secret for booze. Then once we prove to the merchant guilds we are the real deal we sell the secret to the highest buyer. Or we gather the top head and sell the secret to both of then.

As the two of you get ready to head home, you watch the bar-tending landers for a bit as they try to take care of the recently comatose Assassin who has finally woken up. They seem like normal enough people to you, even if they used to be NPCS. You wonder exactly how different they are from how people like you and Paradigm were before you got stuck here.

You are the outsiders in this world after all.

As the two of you head back to the house, you ask "What do you think about landers?"

"They seem like normal people to me."

"Right? So what changed? How come they didn't stay like they were?"

"Who knows. Maybe this isn't even the same world as the actual game. Sure it looks like the game, but at the same time, look how different things are."

"True, I mean, I guess we don't even know much about the world at all..." you say as you arrive. You open the door and the two of you head inside.

"Ugh, if its just as cold in here as outside, whats even the point of having a house…"

"Privacy I guess? Plus, at least it will warm up a bit once we start the fire." you say putting a log into the fireplace.

"But we are about to go to bed anyways, aren't we? Will that even help?" she says lighting it regardless.

"Probably not a lot, but maybe it will if we leave our doors open."

"So much for privacy, huh." She says elbowing you in the side. "You just want to sneak in and peak at me, don't you. Perv."

"No thanks. I'm not into lolis." you say waving your hand in front of your face dismissively.

She puffs up her cheeks. "Not like I chose this body." she says despite the fact that she more or less did.

"Not like I can choose what I'm into…" you say. You are both somewhat glad and slightly disappointed that she isn't a Fox tail. If she was… To put it lightly, you probably would have actually ended up giving her a reason to call you a perv. Especially if her tail was as nice as DesertFox's…

"Why don't I just sleep with you then? You aren't interested in my body, so we are safe, right?~ And you are all nice and warm and fluffy~" she says wrapping your tail around her neck like a scarf.

Shit. You have once more fallen into one of her devious traps. You need to get off the subject again…

"A-anyways, about the landers, do you think its worth doing anything with them?"

"Like what?" she asks while stroking your tail. Her face says that she can tell you are trying to change the subject…

"Like.. Uhh… I don't know, t-teaching them stuff? Like real world engineering?"

"Who knows?~ I don't know the first thing about actual engineering anyways..."

"M-Maybe we can teach them to cook or do simple things?"

"Hmmm~ Maybe?~"

"Or maybe we can teach them how to be adventurers like us..." You are starting to hit stalling bedrock here...

"Perhaps~ Anyways, its not like we can do that now. Its time for bed.~"

"Yeh, I guess you are right… " you say. "Lets go to bed." Your face is probably bright red. You would look at hers, but you don't want to face her.

You wonder if she is blushing too?

Is this as awkward for her as for you?

Maybe she is just better with this kind of thing?

Either that, or maybe she is just more sure of what she is doing?

You head to your room and she follows closely behind you, still wrapped up in your tail.

Thinking about how that would work, her view must be pretty lame… Unless she is into guy's asses? Are girls into that? You have no idea, but you think you should stop trying to run away from reality.

She seems pretty aggressive about all this teasing, flirting, and skin-ship when you think about it…

She always seems to be the one initiating everything.

Is this how things are supposed to go? You don't really know. Again, you aren't some sort of relationship guru… You guess you will just go with it. Maybe it will work out and you two will get into some sort of relationship.

You think about what that would be like as you get yourself into your bed and take off your heavy jacket. You feel like you should probably leave your pants on for now…

She seems to agree with that considering she hops onto the bed without removing her Enchanters robe.

Maybe she will just cuddle with your tail all night. That wouldn't be too bad you think. It would actually be pretty nice…

You pull the blanket up over the two of you and she cuddles up against your body. Her soft robe brushes against your back.

"This is nice." She says hugging your tail.

"Yeh." It definitely is. She is soft and warm. You have never been in the same bed as a girl before. It feels good.

"Hmm~" she humms. "I could definitely get used to this…"
>>
>>2216833
"Same." you say trying to keep as much awkwardness out of your voice as you can… You fail desperately.

The two of you lie there quietly for a while.

"Hey, Will" she asks quietly after a while… "Do you really not think of me that way at all?"

"What do you mean?"

"As a woman?" she asks. "I know I have this body, but I am still actually 22…"

"To be honest, I do, but in a sorta weird way I guess…" you answer.

"Yeh, I can see why." she says "Dammit, this is sooo unfair…"

"Yeh…"

"Just… Ughh…" she complains into your tail, "Why does the world have to screw me over as soon as I find a good guy dammit?"

"I'm not gonna hate you just because you are stuck like this Saya…" you say.

"I know. You would never do that..." she sighs, "That’s why I like you. Well that and a bunch of other stuff, but that’s definitely part of it…" She said it. She likes you. Your heart is beating super fast. This is the first time you have been confessed to. This is a confession, right? I mean, sure, you are already in bed together, but this is still a huge milestone.

Also, her loliness is because she's a Dorf. I don't know if the Appearance Reset Potion can change your race, it's an appearance change not a respec.

That's one of those things that are different between servers, in America, they are a cash shop item. Americans like looking different, and it doesn't effect in game stats, so they sold them for real world money. Not too expensive in terms of money, but people usually took them right away since they were untradeable here. If you could find someone who actually kept one, you doubt it would be cheap. Too many people probably need one right now.

Who knows, maybe they still exist somewhere? If this world is like real life, someone had to have made them, right?
>>
>>2217043
we should look into that
>>
>>2216987
You roll over and pull her into a hug.
"I like you too. Don't worry, we can figure it out together." you reassure her.

She hugs you back. She is so small and vulnerable. Her hands can barely reach all the way around you even in this relatively slim(for a monk) body. You want to protect her. You want her to feel safe. You want her to be happy. You want to do anything you can to help her.

Maybe an appearance potion would work? Did those effect race? Where would you even get one?

You guess that’s something you could look into…

But for now, you can't really do much about it. While you were busy thinking, she has moved her face right next to you and is looking directly into your eyes. Despite her small facial features, hers are big and round.

Before you realize what is happening, her arms are around your head. Pulling you closer. She kisses you on the lips then quickly pushes your face away again…

"Sorry, I had to do it." she whispers.

Her bright red face looks cute against her light blue hair and eyes. Does her body even really matter? This girl likes you and you like her back. You need to make sure she understands that the feeling is mutual.

You pull her back in and kiss her again, holding it a little longer. Its probably awkward as far as kisses go, but it feels right.

"Was that ok?" you ask. "Before you answer, give me some slack, it was basically my first."

"Mine too…" She says. "It was good though." That answers something you had been wondering for a while. Apparently she hasn't been in a relationship before either.

"Want to do it again?" you ask.

"Yeh." So you do.

Eventually you feel yourself drifting off to sleep with her in your arms. You are more tired than you realized and her body heat is so comfortable that you cant help but want to fall asleep…

You open up your menu to call her, but as you bring your finger near the button, static courses through your mind for a second. There is something wrong here, and you are pretty sure that it isn't your relationship now... You get the feeling calling her might be a very bad idea.

Instead, you select her name and hit the find friend button. What it reveals makes no sense.

An arrow has appeared in your sight, but the distance over it is nonsensical. Its about 50 miles away. Far outside of the city. Judging from the direction, you would say it is near the-

Beacon…

The one you all refueled just two days ago.

The one that should have enough fuel for a week.

The nearest beacon to the city…

You rush outside and look towards the mountains.

Only Two fires remain lit and the arrow pointing to Saya is almost directly on top of one of them.

The other fire looks like it could go out any minute too! Someone must have sabotaged the beacons!

How is nobody else noticing this?! Adventurers are just walking around like they are completely normal?!

Shit, you aren't sure what to do! You need to alert someone!

But you also need to get to Saya as fast as possible! That static definitely means something is going on with her!

Darkness is falling. The twilight cast by the Midnight Sun is weak.

Dammit! Whatever is going on, you need to get to her! She is at one of the last two lit beacons anyways, so even if the others go out, you can save the barrier!

Think! How can you get there fast? Your moose will take nearly two hours, but wait! DesertFox had a Jingle Reindeer! It’s a mount from a Christmas event several years ago! Those can fly here!

You call her.
Ring…

She picks up and you feel static flow across the connection. What the hell is going on?

"Hello? What was that? This is Will, right?"

"Yeh, big trouble, look at the beacons!"

"What do you mean, they are fin-" she pauses halfway through her though. "What the heck? They were all lit just a minute ago?!" her feeling of panic reaches you through the telepathy. You didn't know it could do that, but now isn't the time! This confirms it. Something is definitely wrong here.

"I don't know what is going on, but nobody else seems to notice either!"

"Shit, what should we do?"

"Can you fly us to the south beacon? Somehow Paradigm is already out there!"

"Really? Are you sure? Does that mean she is the one doing it!?"

"No way, she couldn't get between them all fast enough, she was with me all day yesterday and most of last night."

"Last night, huh~?"

"Not the time!"

"Alright, I can definitely give you a ride, grab some logs and meet me at the south gate!"

You run back to your chest to grab them and a bunch of blitz whistles, then chug one and take off towards the gate at full tilt.

When you get there, DesertFox is already waiting with her Reindeer, so you hop on behind her.

She pulls its reigns and it gets a running start then leaps into the air, you hold onto the foxtail woman for dear life as the ground rapidly plummets away from you.

You will probably have enough time to make another call before you can get near the mountain.

As the two of you hurtle through the air, you dial up OrbitalBlur. You aren't the biggest fan of the <Morning Star>s attitudes, but you need to put that aside for now. From what you know, he has the most manpower of anyone you know in the city. Plus the few times you have talked to him, he seems to have whats best for the city in mind, even if his glare is a bit harsh.

"I'll call the <Morning Star>s, you call Hiro! You yell out to her over the rushing of the wind.

"Alright! He should have a reindeer too! I don't know if he would be able to fight off the undead at his level, so I'll tell him to get to the one that is still lit!" she yells back.

He grunts mentally in response and answers after a second. "Yes sir, what can I do for you today Mr. Will? Have you reconsidered our offer?"

"Not right now, something way more important is going on!"

"Well then, what would be more important than the security of our fair city?"

"The security of our fair city! Look at the beacons!"

"What about them?" he asks cluelessly. How does he not realize dammit!

"Go look! Almost all of them are out!"

"Now, I know you saw it the first time b-"
"Just look dammit! Nobody can see that they are out until it gets pointed out or something!"

"Alright, I'll go take a look, but if this is a prank, I'll-" He doesn’t finish his thought, which you assume means he can see it too now.

"Mr. Will, I will say this now. This is incredibly suspicious. But that ain't whats important right now. I thank you for bringing this to our attention again, and hopefully we will be able to rectify it before it is too late."

The mountain is coming into view.

The fire is still going strong, in it's light, you can see a figure on top of the mountain, the arrow over them indicates its Paradigm. Judging by the lights occasionally flashing into the darkness, she appears to be in combat with something.

The reindeer flies over the top of the mountain and you jump down before it can land.

You are about to Wyvern Kick her opponent in the face when you notice something.

The thing she appears to be in combat with is a Lander?

And rather than being in actual combat, she appears to be just using Astral Bind, Astral Hypno, and Thorn Bind Hostage repeatedly to keep them CC chained in place.

You fall to the ground and take some moderate damage rather than risk one-shotting them with your kick.

You walk over to Paradigm and try to make sure she is Ok, but she doesn't acknowledge you. Her blue eyes seem to have lost most of their color and she stares blankly as she casts another Astral Bind on the lander. You can feel the static in your head.

This is just like the last time with the lever!

She isn't attacking then instead she is focused in keeping then which means these guys are extremely suspicious to be here and the fire is strong so these landers are the ones taking out the fire

Kissing her seems extremely contrived. Have DesertFox take care of the Lander.

Hey, anon!

God dam Morning Stars. But never mind. I wonder why the landers are doing this though, is it to keep the adventurers occupied? Are these landers like the 'wildlings' and the barrier is like our wall?

We can do this along with other votes before we do anything to stop her from CCing them. Could you pick another option to break the tie?

You need to do something to bring her back to her senses, but first you should probably do something about the lander she is CCing…

You get some rope out of your inventory and go over to the lander. His eyes are a bit crazed, and as you try to tie him up, he struggles… At least until Saya hits him with another Astral Hypno and he falls asleep. You wind the rope around him and a nearby tree several times and tie it tightly. From what you can tell, he seems to be a completely normal level 10 lander…

Saya continues blankly staring and casting her bind spells at him even though he is securely fastened to the tree.

You go over to her and think about your options. As you do, DesertFox and her reindeer land lightly on the snowy peak next to you.

"So what the heck is going on?" she asks.

"I don't really know." you say. "I jumped down and she was just CCing that lander over and over again. I think he might have something to do with the other beacons going out."

"Weird." She says waving her hand in front of Saya's face. "Its like she is possessed or something."

"Yeh. This has actually happened before, a few days ago, we got wicked drunk and blacked out. In the morning, we woke up and there was some weird ass lever that she apparently made, and she was doing the same "staring at it possessed and completely unresponsive" thing." you say making air quotes.

"Hmm~." she hums contemplatively. "You should kiss her."

"That’s so cheesy…" you say.

"Yeh, but its romantic, right?" She has a point.

Might as well give it a shot.

You take your head in your hands and kiss her. Slowly the color returns to her eyes. She drops her staff and grabs your head and holds you in the kiss.

"You saved me…" she says as she releases your lips.

"I don't really know if it was saving you, you seemed fine."

"Shut up. You saved me. You are my Prince William." she says stroking your cheek.

"Quit it, its too cheesy!"

"No it isn't! It’s the power of love!" She drags you back into another kiss.

After what feels like a while but was probably less than a minute, the two of you break apart.

"Awww~ That’s sooo~ cute!" says DesertFox after getting her fill of watching the two of you in silence.

In a second, Saya's face turns super red. "Shit, we weren't alone?"

"Sorry, I had to ask her for a ride here."

"That’s ok…" she says quietly turning her scarlet face away from DesertFox, "So, what the hell happened? Want to fill me in?"

"I don't really know… I woke up and you were just gone." you explain. "When I turned on the friend finder, it showed that you were all the way out here."

"So you came out to rescue me?" she says cutting you off.

"It was sooo romantic.~" DesertFox says "He called me and was all worried about you, I just had to help him out when he was all serious like that.~" She seems to have taken some serious liberty with describing the situation earlier, but you won't correct her since it makes you look good. That’s fair, right?

"That still leaves the question of why I was all the way out here though," she tries to hide the delight at that statement with a serious question, "do you guys have any clues?"

"Yeh." You say dragging the happy girl back to earth with a serious tone, "Look at the other beacons." you say motioning to the north.

She seems a bit surprised by your change in tone and quickly looks around.

"Shit, this is serious."

"Yeh. I'm guessing that you being out here has something to do with all this." she looks a bit hurt for a second before you quickly add "I mean, it seemed like you were trying to save the fire, not the other way around!"

"Oh."

Safe.

"So is that supposed to mean all the static shit is a good thing?" she asks.

"I have no idea." you answer bluntly. "Honestly it’s a bit too weird for me to understand, much less trust..."

"Yeh, I know what you mean." she says. "Its just too creepy."

DesertFox listens to the two of you curiously. "Whats this static you are talking about?"

"No idea. It just… Happens?"

"It’s a bit of a long story." Saya says.

"Hmmm?~" DesertFox hums, "Now that the fire is safe, we have time, right?~"

Oh. "Shit." you almost forgot… "One sec." you say running over to the magic storage box next to the brazier.

You open it and inspect the contents. Its still mostly full. About a fifth of the logs are gone, which seems reasonable for two days given its supposed to last a week. Looks like it wasn't tampered with yet.

You fill it up with the logs in your inventory just to be safe…

You return to the two of them, Saya seems to be about half way through her explanation. She looks slightly less well than she did a moment ago.

"And then will pulled me out of the room and it stopped. Well sort of. Like it left my head, but he was still watching us somehow. Then I blacked out."

DesertFox looks at you for confirmation, you nod your head about the part you heard and add "Also while she was out she said some weird prophecy kind of thing. Well, she didn't say it, whatever was possessing her did I think…"

"Haaah~ None of that sheds any light on this whatsoever." DesertFox says with a sigh.

"Yeh. Honestly it just makes it weirder and weirder."

"Well, for now, lets just be glad that it helped us out." you say.

"Speaking of helping us out," DesertFox interjects, "I think maybe that static was the reason you could see the beacons were out."

"What makes you think that?"

"Well, when you called me, my head started hurting reeeally bad for a second and all I could hear was buzzing, and then when it went away I could see they were all out." That’s right, she did say that they were all normal before… Somehow that makes sense. Apparently the static needed more than just Paradigm to save the beacons. You want to understand. You look to Paradigm for answers.

Her eyes fill your thoughts with static.

Now if only you knew why it was trying to save them…

Static tells you it is part of the game.

And how nobody else could see the beacons…

A black pawn made of static has taken the first move.

And why the he chose Saya…

Static informs you that she is not the only one.

The static abruptly vanishes and you are left with a dizzying headache.

The fire that flickers behind DesertFox dances in patterns that you cannot possibly comprehend. You know Saya is looking at it too. You get the feeling that she can see so much more.

To make matters worse, almost on cue, Paradigm begins coughing and vomits again. DesertFox stares in horror at the strange matter that falls from her mouth. Your racing mind remembers what comes next. You quickly grab Paradigm's body before she falls over unconscious.

"What have you two gotten me into?" DesertFox says with a tone lacking her usual playful demeanor. She has turned away from the nonsensical vomit and followed your previous line of vision into the fire. Somehow you know that the pattern does not reveal itself to her.

"I wish I knew myself." You reply shifting Paradigm's small bodyweight into a carrying position.

You aren't sure what you should do…

"For now though, I want to make sure Paradigm is alright. As long as the fire is ok, taking care of her comes first. Can you bring her back to town on your reindeer and get her to a bed? I'll take the lander back on my moose after I look around."

DesertFox continues staring at the fire and looking away from you as she says "I'm not really sure that’s a good idea. If she starts doing more spooky stuff like that, you should probably be the one there with her. You two take my reindeer back to town."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeh. Just consider it a favor. I will need to borrow a moose whistle though since you can't call them up here."

"Thanks." you say handing one over. It’s a bit odd seeing her acting so serious, but if any situation called for it, this would probably be one.

"Before you go, there is one more thing."

"Yeh?"

"Payment." she says in a deadpan voice.

You are taken by complete surprise. "How much?" you ask after a second.

She reaches over and strokes your tail. Oh, that kind of payment. You forgot she was a tail maniac. Even so, it seems somewhat inappropriate given the circumstances.

Then she says something betraying your expectations again. "When times are tough like this, just remember that we are here for you guys, ok?" she asks gently petting it. Rather than feeling lewd like before, it gives you a deep sense of camaraderie. You can't really explain it. Its like this body knows that somehow it and her are like family. "I am glad you came to me, and I bet Hiro would say the same thing. We are all stuck here together, so if things get hard, just remember that we are here. We can all help each-other get through it." It’s a feeling you haven't felt in a long time.

More than just comforting and reassuring you, it reminds you that you probably aren't the only one she is trying to take care of right now. <Touch Fluffy Tail> is a fairly large guild, you wouldn't be surprised if there were at least ten or more others here in Portage… And when you get down to it, this world is scary, you are firsthand proof of that. Even without all the spooky lever static and imminent undead invasions you are dealing with, simple combat is something most people would be afraid of, right? Monsters are big and scary. Not everyone is an isekai loving weeb like you. You were at least somewhat accepting of all this, but you doubt everyone else can say the same. You wonder how many other players she is looking after?

"Alright, I will. Promise." You say looking her in the face. "If I can, I will be here for you guys too."

"Thanks. That’s just the payment I was looking for. Go Take care of your girlfriend now Prince William~." She says letting go of you and giving you a kind smile.

You bring Paradigm over to the waiting reindeer and get onto it, after a few short dashing steps, it leaps off the mountain's peak and into the air. The ground soars away and you can see DesertFox waving as you go.

It is about a ten minute ride by air. It feels longer though. You hold Paradigm's body tightly as you travel. It is cold on the ground and even colder this high in the air. You run your hand through her hair and put her hood up to shield her a bit more from the wind, you are glad she has the thick and fluffy winter robes keeping her warm. At your gentle touch, Paradigm mumbles something in her sleep. The words get lost in the wind, but their meaning echoes in your head to the familiar tune of static.

Light the fires.

End the Lies.

Let it die.

Chasta will rise.

There is salvation.

End the game.

The message is as cryptic as last time. The static gives you no hints to its meaning as it swiftly abates and is replaced by the rushing of the wind.

At least this time, the first part makes sense…
Whatever or whoever the static is, he seems to want to keep the fires lit.

At the moment though, rather than worry about the cryptic message, you are more concerned for Paradigm's wellbeing. As she finishes mumbling, you have nearly reached the city. Another minute passes as the reindeer descends outside the southern gate. When it lands, you dismount and it runs and jumps back off into the sky. You bring Saya back to your house and gently put her in your bed.

You get in next to her and pull the covers over the two of you then take her hand in yours. Its warm.

You figure while you wait for her to wake up, you should probably call Hiroshima and tell him about some of the crazy stuff going on. Its only fair now that you involved his childhood friend(or something like that?) after-all. Even if you don't know him that well, he and his group have had your back since you guys got here.

You look through your list for his name and call him.
Ring… Ring… Ring.
As he picks up, a feeling of static flows out of your mind again. You wonder if that will happen every time you make a call?

"Hiroshima?"

"Yo. Whats up?" He sounds a bit off for a second, you guess it was the static considering what DesertFox said.

"A bunch of stuff. First things first though, go look outside."

"I'm in a dungeon right now, sorry. Oh and before I forget, just call me Hiro dude, everyone else does."

"Gotcha. Well, anyways, the reason I was telling you to look outside was because the beacons are out again. This time a whole bunch of them are."

"Shit, again? I thought that was taken care of?"

"Yeh. This time its worse though. I am pretty sure someone or something is sabotaging them."

"Why would someone do that?"

"No idea. Honestly very little of what is going on makes any sense at all to me."

"Alright, what else is going on?"

"It’s a long story, do you have time?"

"Yeh, sure its not like I need to pay any attention to these mobs anymore." As much as that line should probably be a joke, you know its not. The guy could probably solo it at this point. That is something even some 90s might be hard pressed to do. Well, maybe. It depends if that firestorm counts as an actual DOT on the Golem you guess.

"Alright then, I guess the best way to start off is at the beginning."

You go through how you met Paradigm at the argument about the broken gate, the shenanigans involving the levers, and finding out about the tasteless food, making sure to mention that the levers with flat backs couldn't actually be crafted regardless of how one tried now.

Hiro follows along patiently until you get to the part where you guys blacked out and she made one anyways.

"So you are saying that some sort of static ghost made your girlfriend able to do some impossible crafting?"

"More or less," you say before you continue on with the story. You reach this morning and tell him about the sequence of events that unfolded.

"Man that’s a lot of crazy shit going on at once. All the fires were definitely fine when we came out here this morning, but by your times they were probably mostly all out by then… We never even noticed."

"Yeh, we think it has to do with the static ghost again."

"Crazy. I want to see that lever later."

"Sure, I don’t see why not. Just be warned, it may still be haunted. We don’t actually know what causes all this."

"Hey man, if being haunted helps save the town, I would rather be haunted than skele-dicked."

Fair enough.

"So, any ideas what we should do now?"
>>
>>2226920

"I dunno. We are probably gonna need to get the whole town involved with this every day now though. If it keeps happening, we are screwed otherwise. Maybe the Cowboys can set up some kind of watch?"

"What if the same illusion thing happens though?"

He mentally shrugs, somehow you can tell over telepathy... "Maybe once people know it happens, they can just take logs to the fires anyways regardless of if they are lit or not to make sure."

"I guess that would work."

"What do you think we should do with the Lander? DesertFox is bringing him back to town for now, so I guess she will bring him to the <Touch Fluffy Tail> guild hall or something, but then what?"

"Probably we should question him first. From what you said though, it sounded like something was controlling him, so I don't know if that will do any good anyways."

"True. Anyways, that’s pretty much it, thanks for hearing me out, I wanted to get you into the loop since you had our backs with the bar."

"Thanks yourself man. I would definitely rather know whats going on than be stuck without a clue. Come grind with us some more some time."

"Yeh, we will. Maybe when we level up some we can head out to one of those level 80 ones?"

"Yeh, that would be pretty good. We don't want to go on until we got at least a full party. You got a ways to go though to get to our level." he says with a chuckle. "See you later man, don't be a stranger!"

Click.

You feel quite a lot better after telling him about the whole mess. DesertFox is right. Having people you feel like you can rely on is nice.
