As the sun began to rise over the mountain range where Iti'a'Ropku sprawled among its peaks a dome of energy still shimmered over the tall buildings of bone and metal. High above where the light of the moon was still visible in the brightening sky the citizens could just barely make out flashes of light through the shields.

War was not a new event to afflict the moon, the Armada's first foray into space leading to a conflict with the Pirates in their hidden base. Now a massive battle has been carrying on for hours now, the Osjiic Empire fleet fighting with hard trained and earned experience to hold their lines while clashing with the Armada fleet. The darkness of space was broken by a storm of lights, Void, Arc, and Necrotic energies illuminating the ships as energy beams and missile flames glow bright against shields and hulls. Burning hulks of warships drifted, their crews either trapped and dying or managing to escape in swarms of shuttles and pods.

Yet on the surface the battles seemed just as fierce, the veterans of the Empire clashing with the Reconstructed swarms. The flagship of the invaders, the black-hulled Voidship, loomed over the hidden Void Temple which appeared to be the sole target of this sudden assault. Already Deathshead Guardians worked to burrow their way through the surface and break into the tunnels linking to the Temple as others clash in vicious dogfights with the Voidknights above.

It was becoming clear that this entire conflict had it's roots in the Empires desire to snuff out the Voidknights, rivals to their monopoly on the legacy of Black Flame of the Void.

Yet deep under Iti'a'Ropku where a chrysalis of meat and metal pulsed with hidden potential a single thought rang out, familiar and encouraging to all Reconstructed who felt it within their bones as it reached even those in battle around the moon.

Elemental Event - The Arc Surge is fading
>The unusual increase of Arc energy galaxy wide has begun to fade in strength with the death of the Ahkam Matriarch Quantac'Vrix. While still present and providing an increase to Arc wielders and technology is is steadily declining in strength from the torrent it once was.

Research Development: Splinter research thread unlocked
>Think Tanks involved with the Orbital Shielding research reached a moment of inspiration while reviewing footage of the space battle with the Fractoids and their overlapping shields.

Finished Research:
>Preserved Alien Trophies and Ahkam Pets:
Certain ships that served as the mobile thrones and homes of their Ahkam hold an interesting array of exotic lifeforms to study. From trophy rooms of preserved beasts to captive living specimens as some Ahkam appear have a fondness for exotic pets.

>Solar Agriculture:
With the aid of Solar-empowered Armatocere the Think Tanks aimed to improve their methods of agriculture and biomass generation

Current Research:
>Necrotic Drive:
Slow, Unpredictable - A project attempting to use Necrotic energy to create an FTL capable engine

>Advanced Mental Reading:
Medium - Experiments into remote thought scanning technology

>Elemental Disruption Experiments:
Medium, Very Dangerous - An extremely dangerous experiment into testing the interactions of elemental and quasiphasic energies

>Solar Engine:
Slow - Think Tanks believe they can replicate the Sunscale's Solar-based FTL if given time

>Orbital Shields:
Slow - With the fragility of orbital superstructures the Think Tanks propose more measures to defend them

>Psionics:
Medium, possibly dangerous - The incident with the Advanced Mental Reading lab has inspired several Think Tanks to begin researching psionics by focusing on telekinesis gained from sources other than Necrotic energy

>Floral Necrotic Experiments:
Unknown, Dangerous - A project proposed by a Think Tank, who worked on the original Necrotic experiments on the living that lead to the Immortals, has grown intrigued with the Armatocere Necrotic initiates and requests their aid in experimenting with Necrotic energies and floral organisms

>Ahkam Matriarch Dissection:
Medium - Think Tanks that long wished to study an Ahkam Matriarch are excited to study the corpse of Quantac'Vrix and already begin discussing Reconstruction

>Experimental Arc Weaponry:
Medium, Potentially Dangersous - Recovered weaponry, engineers, and warships reveal that the Matriarch chose the invasion to unveil and test various Arc weapon prototypes developed during the Arc Surge
>>
>>2207380
>Matriarchs Armor:
Medium - The heavily fortified and technologically advanced armor that the Matriarch utilized will be studied thoroughly as she is studied as well

>Ahkam Datafiles:
Medium - Decrypting and studying the vast amount of files stored upon the warships of the Ahkam will take some time but are sure to have a wealth of knowledge concerning the Dynasties

>Fractoid Remains:
Slow - The dust like remains of the strange robotic appearing entities within the Throne system superficially resembles simple sand or quartz dust and resists initial tests to study its composition

>Gas Giant Filter Farms
Medium - Inspired by how the Zaeen are able to eat and metabolize the gases of Gas Giants the Think Tanks hope to adapt it as a method to produce biomass in addition to collecting starship fuel

>Gravetics
Medium - Inspired by the Armatoceres developments into gravity manipulating technology the Think Tanks have begun looking at base theories concerning their Interdiction Field technology and studying gravity manipulating materials including exotic matter and Void energies.

Ongoing and Joint projects:
>Elemental Experiments:
Ongoing, possibly Dangerous - A long-standing research goal of the Think Tanks into the various elemental energies

>Blackscale Cloning projects:
Ongoing, possibly Dangerous - Efforts to create loyal clones of the Sunscale and Blackscale. With the addition of Armada Necromancers this project has gained a boost

>Anti-Wraith Technology:
Ongoing - A joint project between the Armada and Armatocere to develop defenses against the Sun-Eater Wraiths

>Sub-Space Experiments:
Ongoing, Dangerous - Risky experimentation in the nature of Sub-Space and dimensional energies

>Reconstructed intelligence:
Unknown - Less of an experiment and more of a study and observation into investigating the cause and effects of the development of intelligence and personality within Reconstructed

>Dream Study:
Unknown - Due to the regularity that Necromancers appear to have of prophetic dreams the Think Tanks have begun studying the nature of these visions by examining the dreamscapes of the living citizens in the Armada

>Arc Anomalies:
Medium, Potentially Dangerous - A joint study by the Think Tanks and Mind-Vines to examine and assess the various anomalies left in the aftermath of the Arc Surge and Ahkam Invasion within the Bastion system.
>>
>>2207386
Unlocked:
>Solar Radiators
Created through a joint project between the Think Tanks and several of the Solar infused Mindvines the Solar Radiators are a significant invention for both the Armada and Collective. Designed to interface with Solar Reactors the Radiators appear as posts of varying size, ranging from a few feet in height to large towers that loom over fields, with a collection of crystalline lenses on the top. Solar elemental energy is funneled from the reactors and then dispersed by the radiators in an aura around them. Almost paradoxically this allows flora and vegetation that would typically rely on sunlight to photosynthesize to live and even flourish in darkened environments if other proper conditions are met. This allows most crops and plantlife to grow regardless of light levels as the Solar energy serves to fuel their metabolisms. Minor side effects include sluggishness among unprotected undead and Reconstructed, invigorated plant growth and regenerative speed, and minor luminous anomalies within nearby flora. Think Tanks also note that Solar Radiators can induce a minor euphoric response in intelligent floral species similar to a narcotic effect in animal species. Cost: Requires access to existing Solar Reactor infrastructure

>Preserved Alien Trophies and Ahkam Pets results:
Among the Ahkam present for the invasion of Bastion many brought their personal ships that served as both mobile throne and home. Several of these ships contained an array of trophies, preserved specimens, and living exotic pets that had been owned by the serpents. The genetics of this sampling of creatures plucked from across the galaxy were eagerly recorded by the Think Tanks. While many of them provide little in the way of useful gene sequences the Think Tanks plan to catalog them for future use in either cloning, terraforming, and constructing artificial ecosystems. There were however several examples that drew the attention of the Think Tanks in particular.

>Nalnac - Retrieved from an Ahkams throneship these mammal-like predators come from an unknown deathworld only vaguely mentioned in the ships datalogs. Capable of flight these deadly creatures weigh slightly less than a human, reaching two meters in length from head to pincer tail with the largest pair of wings reaching half that in wingspan. With only two limbs near their extendable jaws their feet contain retractable hook-like claws for clinging to trees and snatching up prey. With four pairs of overlapping wings they mainly glide through the air but appear capable of burst of speed and deadly diving attacks. Relying mostly on sound their "heads" mainly consist of powerful ears they use to track prey and navigate with sonar, however they do posses small pairs of eyes mostly attuned to detecting motion and light. The members aboard the Ahkams ship appear to be genetically tampered as they lack the fur their genetics carry the markers for, likely to make them easier to maintain with their life aboard a ship.

>Numulta - Apparently a favored delicacy for an Ahkam these beasts seem hardly remarkable at first glance but a dissection and quick exam of their genetics show promise for exploitation. Quadruped vertebrates that posses a moderately thick skin of hide and quills as their only means of defense they appear to be simple creatures that typically walk low-slung to the ground to better root up hidden food. Datalogs showing that they came to dominate nearly all continents of their distant homeworld due to their hardiness, ranging in size from a hoverbike to reports of some breeds nearly the size of an Osogo. Omnivores of the highest order they appear to be capable of consuming nearly any organic matter without concern although their teeth and moderately slow gaits indicates most meats they eat would be carrion. Due to their fast gestation times, moderately large litters, ease of feeding them, docility, and bountiful resources from their meat and hides, the Think Tanks believe they can be cloned for trade or sale.
>>
>>2207449
>Cleaner Reetete - A native lifeform from the distant Kosda homeworlds the Cleaner Reetete are a small primate-like creature that were once a common sight on Kosda and Ahkam ships due to their pest control services and cultural significance to the Kosda. With keen olfactory senses and a barbed, harpoon-like tongue the Cleaner Reetete were bred to help keep the burrows, homes, and, eventually, starships of the Kosda clean and free of infestations. Upon their uplifting by the Ahkam the Cleaner Reetete became popular Ahkam pets, the agile and moderately intelligent creatures trained to help ensure the serpents scales remained parasite free. Several decades ago a fungal infection from a recently explored world spread through the fleets leading to a slow killing disease that also sterilized the infected Reetete. Considered all but extinct everywhere except for possibly the Kosda homeworld the Think Tanks were able to draw usable genetic sequences from preserved and taxidermied specimens. The Think Tanks propose that with a genetic tweaking cloned members would be rendered immune to the contagion and may prove valuable for trade or as a moral boost for the living subjects of the Armada.

As Eiton and Jareth lead the attacks against the attacking fleet and Jor and the Ahkam fight with the Disciples to halt the progress of the ground troops there is another fleet lightyears away racing between the stars at FTL speeds.

Ruscuv and Valresko stood aboard the bridge of the Palanquin as they looked over the data they were just receiving from the Armada they had just left behind.

The Solar Dominator stood in silent, controlled anger as he observes the conflict. He'd felt a few moments of pride when he learned of how it was his Disciples strategies that were helping hold the line against the invaders but it was quickly overridden by his annoyance at the timing.

"Their proposed cease-fire did not last long did it?" Ruscuv asks rhetorically, her chin resting in her humanoid hand as the tendrils framing her massive maw twist in their own annoyance, "I have been waiting to see how these osjiic Voidspawn would've tasted and the moment we leave they send a whole fleet to our doorstep."

Valresko glances at her for a moment then back to the holoscreens, "Will you prepare your forces still hidden in Clour should the Empire attempt to retake the Andai system as well?"

Ruscuv clicked her teeth together, her eyeless gaze turning to the undead general, "They can be made to be," she says noncommittally.

"Might be best they are," he says but moves on without addressing the nagging feeling he had at how she still hid her reserves of Reconstructed, "What do you know of this Zekrul?"

With a noise of distaste and a dismissive twist of a tendril she looks back toward the datastream, "From what little I recall, they were always a small creature in a world of giants among the old Armada. Always desperate to prove themselves worthy of glory. Their physical and destructive potential was impressive at the time but far from what either Jadyk or myself were capable of

"Nor what you must be capable of," she says, glancing toward the Solar undead once more, "Jor must fear his potential or believe him to be a danger if he sent you with me on this errand."

Valresko was uncertain if he sensed hostility in her words but he says nothing of it and shrugs his shoulders, "It is what the First Necromancer thought best. He is still young and will be blooded after this conflict. I serve the will of the Armada and it was Jadyk's will that Jor guide it in his absence."

Ruscuv was silent for a few moments then nods, "That human has great potential within him. It was his flesh that triggered my resurrection and the taste I gained from that morsel showed great things in his future. Another potential Lich if I was forced to predict."

Nodding the pair fall silent as they continue to watch the unfolding conflict while nearing the system where the Charred Knight Zekrul awaited them.

Currently, Voidknight Jareth and two of his Disciples duel with a pair of Deathshead Guardians in their respective high-speed and destructive ships, their battle racing between the fighting behemoths of warships.

On the moons surface a party of the Guardians appear to be drilling through the surface of the moon by using a concentrated sphere of Void energy. Supported by veteran Voidsingers, Juggernauts and heavy ground troops they managed to establish a beachhead in their bid to break through to the tunnel systems.

Eiton's fleet from Bastion was providing much needed relief to the Armada forces, his stealthcraft spreading chaos among the void-powered ships. A brief message is sent to Jor from his ship, a simple note stating that Orvca was ready to assist the Necromancer however he required to ensure their victory over the invaders.

Jor and the Ahkam trip carved a bloody path through the Imperial forces on the moon, the Deep Rot keeping the human updated with a constant stream of psionic data. Once more it calls to him, asking for his advice.

There was much to do and tend to in this bloody battle, how should Jor focus the Reconstructed forces?
>(Write-in)
>>
>>2207642
They seem to be suicide pushing for the temple, but other than the void reactors and pride of holding it stable, what else is it really worth? They wont be able to wipe out the moon by overloading the reactor will they? And its not like the voidknights will be gone just because the temple might be compromised.

I say Jor should order all the fleets in the system and the AA canons across the moon to focus on surrounding the enemy fleet and crippling the engines of the Command ship. If they cant escape, we can slaughter them at our leisure. Suicide attacks by coffins to get crit crawls close to critical systems, sacrifice nails and gunships in similar attacks against hard emplacements and enemy fighters. We are diminished from the battle over bastion, and I know people will probably want to be conservant with out forces, but the reconstructed are disposable! All must be sunk into overcoming the fleet post haste! Heavily damaged cruisers should perform ramming maneuvers! Grind them into dust!

As to the surface, Jor, the ahkam, and any other forces on the surface need to reinforce the tunnels and prepare to intercept the drills as they get deeper. The same tactics that the undead used in refuge apply here. They are fighting on our territory, and we are tracking their approach vectors, we should be able to stage assaults on each of the drills as they break tunnels. If we have any more trump cards they need to be mobilized NOW not later. The void juggernaut needs to come out to play with the rest of our tunnel troops, we need to empty the hangars

At the same time, I think we kind of need Orvca to organise fly by raids on the drill sites, keep them from getting comfortable.

Can we dump our current nutrient reserves on the moon to mass produce more of our troopers? If we can that needs to be done stat, empty the larder. Pour out every last inch of resistance we can muster.

Lastly we need to see if we can wind down that void reactor itself to minimum levels or something like it. If they end up getting close enough to plant charges, we need to be able to stall for time and keep it from popping immediately.
>>
>>2207732
Oh! And on top of that! We still have a whole shitload of reserve ships that we have captured from various factions! How bad would it bruise their egos if we started suicide boarding and ramming actions with their own captured ships! Lets pull those out of reserve with skeleton crews and throw them directly into the fray! We can always create duplicates later! Lets use them!
>>
Wow, its really slow. Does no one read the twitter?
>>
>>2207732
I agree with this for the most part but with more emphasis on preventing the enemy forces from gaining any ground in the void temple. They know something we don't otherwise the mass sacrifices made in their attempts to take the temple would make no sense. Their plotting something sinister for sure. Mass dumping of some resources for a temporary boost to our ground forces is something I'm in support of.

On a side note, I'm glad to actually be taking part in a DAtS thread for once ever since I started reading it half a year ago.

Plans so far seem to be
>Send Jor and the Ahkam to attack the drilling Guardians
>Have the Disciples in the tunnels prepare to engage as well
>Concentrate attacks on the Voidship and it's defensive ships
>Have Jareth and Eiton continue to fight against the fleets

Sound agreeable?

Void/Necrotic and Arc/Solar are complimentary energies, meaning that they appear capable of coexisting and leading to hybrids (or abominations) easier.

It's been revealed that the Black Flame of the Void was able to attain the Necrotic to become among the first of the galaxies known Abominable Hybrids

As Jor begins sending orders out Cauldrons across the moon and the tunnels under the surface begin rapidly churning as dozens upon hundreds of simple Reconstructed began clawing their way out of the countless glass chambers that the liquid biomass and metal flowed into. While the majority of the Armada's biomass reserves were stored on Horizon's Drop itself and spread out across their territory, ferried to and fro by convoys of Bloat Carriers, the moon contained a vast reservoir sealed deep beneath its surface. That reservoir began to shrink and the Armada sought to defend the moon with a flood of Reconstructed bone.

Yet lightyears away from this conflict that drew much of the Deep Rots attention it was a simple hidden Gargoyle that forces the constructed intelligence to hesitate. Almost reluctantly it contacts Jor as the human climbs into a chariot on his way to attack the Deathsheads, <Forgive the interruption, First Necromancer but I believe an issue with the Blackscale Cabal has arisen>

Jor swears as he's handed fresh clips for his shardspitter by a Stinger sitting in the seat next to him with the necrotic flayer turret in between, "What now? Is it a problem with the cloning facility or the Cabal meeting?" he asks, not knowing which would be preferable right now.

<With the Cabal meeting. They are discussing their plans to infiltrate a high security->

"Is it a life or death emergency?" Jor cuts it off as the Chariot swings around a crater where a portion of a sub-capital had crashed.

<No, First Necromancer. It is->

"Then it can wait until after we're done killing these Imperial assholes. I know it must be important but I can't split my attention like Jadyk or Valresko can," he gives a short laugh, "I'm still only human. Mostly," he says, gripping at his Reconstructed arm through his armor.

<Very well, First Necromancer. Though it concerns a situation that Lord Jadyk deems very important>

Jor sighs then looks to the side where a nearby explosion lit up the ruins in silent flames, "Contact Commander Rethak. I trust his judgement as much as my own and I know Lord Jadyk does as well." He could feel the moment of doubt but the Deep Rot had been instructed by Jadyk to follow the orders of the Necromancer.

<Of course, First Necromancer. Wormstar guide you in the slaughter of the Imperials. Bring ruin unto them>

Chuckling Jor gives a nod and grips the staff tighter, "I can feel Jadyk watching, I hope he's proud so far."

In the aftermath of the Ahkam invasion that attacked Legions Home and the thwarted assassination attempt by the Sun Eater Wraiths the Necrolyte Legion had been hard at work repairing their fortress home while much of their number was still in the Bastion system assisting on Rukor and the volcanic moon.

Commander Rethak stood in a large room of the Mirrorsoul Battleship that had become something of his personal ship with a number of his officers around a table that displayed a wide array of holographic data for them. Among their number were several he'd newly promoted in the aftermath of the attacks along with a few of the Immortals.

They were discussing the matter of the Refuge system and the scores of locals who wished to join either the Legion or the Armada when the Immortal osjiic grunts at the sudden mental intrusion of the Think Tank. The other Necrolytes sensed it as well, each with their own symbiot attached to their spines. With a nod from the osjiic they filed out of the chamber leaving him alone.

The holograms swept away and footage of a flatbody gargoyle hidden in the ductwork of the Blackscales Pestilence showed the two Necromancers Beqor and Raakah looking over data and blueprints gained by the other Blackscale of their target.

Rethak folds his arms across his chest as he observes in silence for a few moments then shrugs, "I assume this is something Jor told you to bother me with?"

<Correct. Forgive the interruption Commander Rethak but with the Imperial forces invading First Necromancer Jor is indisposed carrying out judgement upon them>

"Alright, so what am I looking at?" he asks, motioning to the holoscreen

<Members of the loyal Cabal have met up with members of another Cabal who came to hold intel concerning the raid and capture of a Sunscale nest and all it's eggs. They have been plotting to acquire this clutch of eggs but due to being unable to contact them with the desire to "purchase" them, they have been working on a plan to breach this high security Confederate science lab and acquire this clutch for themselves. Lord Jadyk has let the Blackscale handle the situation themselves so far, perhaps not wishing to let the other Cabal know that the others are loyal to him>

"I'm sensing a, 'However'," he mutters then chuckles as the Deep Rot continues.

<However, as they were going over schematics and blueprints gained through their unknown means we detected a similarity>

Another holoscreen is projected, showing data that Rethak did no recognize, <Recently a mole within Confederate military leaked a series of datapackets to Lord Jadyk, I believe one of your Necrolytes was given a datastick in Refuge>

>cont
>>
>>2208479
"I remember that," he glances over the projected data, noticing some similarities, "Don't tell me..."

<Indeed, it appears this science lab that the Blackscale are targeting is the same as the one containing several projects that Jadyk has expressed significant interest in. One project in particular>

A list of project names flips past, highlighting one that has Jadyk's personal note marking it's importance for later consideration.

"Project: Draugr," Rethak says to himself.

<From what Lord Jadyk has revealed or recorded, I believe Draugr to be a remnant of the Old Armada or tied to it. I believe it may be time for us to get involved with the Blackscale plots due to the Confederate likely moving the operation elsewhere after the breach. It appears this facility contains multiple dirty secrets the Confederation would like to remain secret>

Commander Rethak rubs at his chin with a finger, his eyeless gaze looking over the gathered data.

How should Commander Rethak proceed?

I'm sure if we impress on them the depth of Jadyk's interest they'll be happy to help

>>
>>2208489
>Contact Beqor and Raakah

Why not do both? Contact them but plan an infiltration as back up.
>>
>>2208489
>Contact Beqor and Raakah
While I doubt we could stop them from going through with it on the grounds that it would strain relations with the other cabal, we could at least involve ourselves in the operation and get the information for Project Draugr along with whatever else the confederates are hiding.
>>
>>2208489
>Contact Beqor and Raakah
Excuse me if I plot a little ahead but if this lab is full of confederation dirty secret we could bring along a reporter and a camera crew from that anti-establishment group we feed information a while back.
>>
>>2208562
What are you talking about anon? The armada isn't involved in this hit at all, no siree, just blackscales here
>>
>>2208582
Just saying, we could make a company of reconstructed blackscales-lookalikes to accompany the real ones and escort the news crew to the laundry dirty room. Or we let them in afterwards or give them a recording of the insides of the lab or whatever works better.

My point is, we can use this not only to hurt the Confederation research, but also their internal politics. The more the public knows, the less the politicians will condone necrotic research and that in turn will cut the funds to the military for that purpose.
>>
>>2208614
I believe it would be safer to just forward recordings of the facility to the rebels from our own reconstructed rather than involving the rebels directly in the infiltration.
>>
I'm like 3 threads behind so I have no idea what's happening and can't contribute to the discussion.

would be best. But then there's the issue of what we say to them? Inform them that Lord Jadyk had received similar intel, and then about his interest in the facility? That the Blackscales would get assistance via discreet Necrotic Armada assets? Warn them of possible Confederate trap? Tell them to also grab relevant research interests?
>>
>>2208689
Depending on the timetable I was gonna suggest supplying them with Reconstructed to infiltrate with alongside their own assets. We'd probably have to limit it to units that the confederation doesn't know we have so if they try to blame us we can deny any involvement.

>>2208489

Thank fuck, I thought I was going to be too late to join in D:

>Contact Beqor and Raakah
>>
>>2208489
Rethak rubs at the ridge of his chin in thought for several moments then gives a curt nod, "So be it. Perhaps we can take initiative and achieve both sets of goals at the same time."

With a motion of his hand the Deep Rot has one of the demi-Think Thanks drift forward to the Necromancers and projects a flickering hologram of the Immortal. The pair look up in surprise, clearing away the data display quickly. Beqor hisses faintly, "Why do you interrupt us?"

The empathic sensors within the construct detected annoyance from both as them as Rethak gives a short bow, "I apologize for the sudden intrusion. I am Commander Rethak of the Necrolyte Legion and speak to you at the behest of the Deep Rot and First Necromancer Jor."

Raakah squints suspiciously, "Why does the human send you?"

"Currently he is slaughtering my former comrades who were foolish enough to attack Horizon's Drop. And before you ask, no, Lord Jadyk is indisposed otherwise you would likely be speaking to a Harbinger right now," he says, hands clasped behind his back as the hologram is projected to appear as if he stands at the table across from them.

Similarly the Blackscale were projected as holograms within his ship, the image flickering as Beqor drags a claw along their chin, picking at a scale, "Get on with it then. We mean no great offense but you are interrupting an important matter."

"It is your plan to infiltrate this Confederate science lab that the Deep Rot contacted me about," he holds up a hand as the pair of reptiles hiss in annoyance and suspicion, "It is not to keep you on a leash but rather because of a moment of opportunity.

"Recently a source within the Confederate military leaked classified documents to Lord Jadyk. Among it were blueprints for a secret facility hidden on a planet in the Curou Sector and a list of projects. Listed were several projects that drew Jadyk's attention but what drew the Deep Rots attention was this," he gives a nod and a holoscreen with blueprints from the datastick were projected and the Blackscale look to each other briefly then to the data displayed, "It appears the facility they are keeping your Sunscale eggs is the same facility that they are supposedly building anti-Necrotic weaponry."

Raakah hisses and taps her chin with a wicked claw, her annoyance replaced with an intense curiosity, "That makes sense. The Sunscale are among the best undead killers around," she looks to Rethak, "Does this mean the Armada is ready to lend us aid in our plot?"

Rethak nods and chuckles, "It seems to be what the Deep Rot and First Necromancer wish me to do. Now, the question remains how I can help this plot benefit all of us."

The Blackscale Necromancers appear open to the idea of cooperating with Rethak.

How should Rethak and the Blackscale plan to infiltrate the facility?
>Write-in

sorry for the delay. off to a great start again lol
>>
>>2208749
Let's send our elite Phantoms. Their wraith armor will be perfect for this and it's a great opportunity.

Maybe we can send the Blackscale zombies as a big distraction for our Phantoms to get whatever data or relics we need from there
>>
>>2208749
We need info on what defenses are there. We could go with a stealthed coffin drop, then perhaps going underground to the facility. But we need to know the specifics of the compound first. We could have some of our own wraiths - or whatever we have that's quasi-phasic - help us with unlocking doors and advance scouting, along with flatbody gargoyles and looms for infiltration.
>>
>>2208761
>>2208760
>>
>>2208749

Utilise the Immortals as shock troops, infiltrate the facility with the immortals and some stealth reconstructed, aim to shut down their communications ASAP, then swarm with reconstructed.

Have our loyal Blackscale tell their allied Blackscale that the reconstructed are either provided by a friendly benefactor, or are of their own creation.
>>
>>2208749
>Offer aid in Stealth Reconstructed and Ships along with whatever other materials they might need or want.
>In exchange we want any information regarding Project Draugr, along with any other information on Undead the Confederates may have, from anti-necrotic weaponry to how they are being used by the confederates in secret.

I also suggest that we send along some of our wraith entities we made through researching Akka-Tors phasing abilities, I believe they will be perfect for this as well as allowing us plausible deniability in the event that something goes wrong.
>>
>>2208749
Well there's the old standby of intercepting a shipment and replacing them with zombies, although it might be easier to leave them alive and use the hive parasite control worm to "activate" them as sleeper agents once they're inside. Some phasing technology would also be helpful and has the side benefit of implicating the Sun Eater over Jadyk, unless we've revealed that to them and I'm forgetting

stealth and wraith reconstructed mostly so they can infiltrate and the wraiths because they dont leave remains behind to study.

Have them scout it out for the black scales and do some sabotage of some of the more viotile research projects to cover the nabbing of the sunscale eggs
>>
>>2208749
Suggestions seem to be either
>Offer use of Phantom Necrolytes to infiltrate
>Offer stealth Reconstructed
>Swarm the facility and cut it off with an attack
>Attempt infiltration by infesting personnel with Symbiots

Which should he offer or are there any other suggestions?
>>
>>2208786

>Offer stealth Reconstructed

>Attempt infiltration by infesting personnel with Symbiots

>Swarming on stand-by, just in case
>>
>>2208786
>Offer use of Phantom Necrolytes to infiltrate
>Offer stealth Reconstructed
>Attempt infiltration by infesting personnel with Symbiots.
All of these, Im not really sold on swarming personally since I want it quick quiet and fast with nothing that can be traced back to the Armada itself.
>>
>>2208804

I included swarming as an absolute just in case, because I absolutely agree with you

If the worst happens and we do fail the infiltration, I'd rather swarm and blow the whole thing up rather than lose the eggs/Draugr information
>>
>>2208786
>>Attempt infiltration by infesting personnel with Symbiots
all of them. Yes, all of them
>>
>>2208786
I personally would just send Phantoms in wraith armor that doesn't look Reconstructed or Cauldron made.

I like the idea of using parasites during the infiltration, might take to long to locate the next shift of scientists and guards
>>
>>2208811
Its decent enough reasoning I suppose, in that case...
>Have assets on hand to attack/swarm the facility if the infiltration should fail.
>>
>>2208786
Use phantoms and stealth to infest with parasites have swarm on standby
>>
>>2208786
"I can offer the use of my Phantom Necrolytes. They are my best stealth and infiltration soldiers and I believe their skills would be useful. I can also provide Reconstructed of similar skillsets if we are not worried about the Confederates not knowing that the Armada was involved. The symbiots would likely make the operation easier if we can implant them into personnel there," Rethak lists off, a brief hologram detailing some of the Control Worms displayed before the Blackscale.

They look over the data quickly, both registering excitement as they begin plotting what they could do with such undead creations. Beqor hisses in thought before turning to the Immortal, "These Phantoms might be better. I can care less if the other Cabal knows that Lord Jadyk supports us, it may encourage them to join as well, but I do not know how Lord Jadyk or the Confederates would react to knowing this."

Raakah nods, her oversized arm clenching its clawed fist compulsively, "In contrast, this would not be the first time a Cabal has raided a science lab. Some of our cousins are notorious, nearly pathological with their obsession of pilfering technology and rituals."

"Should the stealth approach fail, I would like to have forces in reserve ready to take the facility by force if we need to," Rethak says, "However I'd like that to be a last resort."

"Of course, we don't want them to have enough time to destroy their research or the eggs before we have them in our claws," Raakah says with a grin that bares blackened teeth.

"Let us converse with our cousins, bring up these new options," Beqor says but looks to Rethak sternly, "However, should we reveal we have the Armada at our back now, or should we say these Phantoms are something like a kind of hired mercenary?"

Should the Blackscale reveal the involvement of the Armada and Lord Jadyk to the other Cabal, allowing Rethak to plan further with them or continue with the illusion that the Blackscale are on their own?
>Reveal loyalty and support of the Armada
>Continue to keep that info hidden
>Other (write-in)
>>
>>2208908

>Refer to us as a third party, not explicitly the Armada, let the other Blackscales infer and guess, but don't be explicit
>>
>>2208908
>Continue to keep that info hidden.
My reasoning behind this is that while our interests with the other cabal might align for now we dont know enough about them to know if our goals will continue to be the same in the future.
>>
>>2208908
keep it hidden until after the operation, would hate for blackscales to be caught stealing to blab it was under Jaydks orders
>>
>>2208908
>Refer to us as a third party, not explicitly the Armada, let the other Blackscales infer and guess, but don't be explicit

On loan from a third party
>>
>>2208912
Supporting
>>
>>2208908
"Refer to us as a third party who happen to share an interest in the operation but don't reveal that it is the Armada and Lord Jadyk supporting you. They may be our allies today but we do not know what their next plots may entail," the Immortal says while looking to the pair.

"Perhaps you understand the mindset of a Blackscale more than you let on, Commander," Raakah says with a polite bow of her head.

"If after the operation Lord Jadyk wishes to make contact I'm sure he'll be happy to speak to them through a Harbinger," Rethak was already glancing toward another holoscreen while flipping through a list of potential Necrolytes who had been training with the Spectral equipment.

"One thing before we go to speak with them, Commander, concerning the Harbinger," Beqor begins, waiting for Rethak to look to them before continuing, "Up until recently the Harbinger Reconstructed has remained most immobile and impassive during its time aboard our ship."

"Now it slowly wanders the nearby hallways, following one of the occasional zombies they run across. It seems...curious or without guidance. We'd heard of Lord Jadyk's conflict with the Matriarch serpent and know he wrestles with the Arc, but this concerned us," Raakah saws, her forked tongue tasting the air momentarily, "The Think Tanks said not to worry, that is is a quirk of the Harbingers. Should we be concerned?" she questions.

Rethak shakes his head after tapping his chin with a claw, "I don't believe so. I think with Lord Jadyk indisposed they haven't his guidance to keep them in line. First Necromancer Jor has mentioned that some of the Reconstructed grow more unique with their quirks the longer they stay interact with the living and other non-Reconstructed undead," he gives a shrug, "Should they get in the way just ask a Think Tank to relocate them."

"Very well, Commander. It is an interesting phenomena to observe," Beqor says with an amused hiss then straightens their back slightly, "If you'll pardon us, we shall bring these ideas to our cousins and see what plans we can come up with to include your forces."

The pair of Necromancers bow, the Voidsinger returning the gesture as the holograms flicker out.

As the Blackscale shuffle off to speak with the other Cabal, the Immortal Commander sends out a mental summons to his Officers in charge of the Phantoms.

>The Blackscale agree to keep the identity of their benefactors secret for now and explain their access to advanced stealth forces. They will contact Commander Rethak after they have discussed with their "cousins".

With no air or wind to carry it the dust from the Void sphere drilling into the ground filled the area, obscuring the view of the soldiers standing guard over the group of Deathshead Guardians and Voidsingers. Juggernaut mechs marched through the dust clouds, sensors sweeping for movement or thermal signals but the haze partially interfered with detecting little more than the shapes of friendly osjiic soldiers. Several of their spherical drones hovered above the clouds, their sensors scanning the partially ruined shipyards around them for approaching Reconstructed.

Their drilling was not peaceful however as they came under fire from Cyclops snipers and deadly Javelin rounds that send explosive shrapnel ricocheting and punching through the armor of exposed soldiers. Several of the hovertanks set down, forming barricades as they bolt themselves to the ground in wait for the inevitable attack.

A pair of Voidsingers stood behind one of these tanks at the perimeter of the slowly expanding dust cloud, the sensors in their helms scanning the desolate road before them. Several broken hovercraft used to transport supplies lay where they had crashed but beyond the occasional sighting of a Gargoyle slithering past they saw very little movement. One caught sight of a glimmer of light flitting between piles of rubble however, their void repeater lifting up as they scanned across the visual and thermal spectrums and barked a word of warning to their companion.

They felt it then, like a static shock running along their skin before space seemed to open before them and a thick-bladed sickle carves down into one helm with a splatter of black oily blood and another slashes, tearing out the throat of the other Voidsinger. The two corpses drop slowly and by the time they finally hit the lunar surface the tank was swiveling its turret around with the pilots sending out an alert.

The shape wreathed in distorted light dashes up the side of the tank, another hacking slash of a sickle tearing open a rent in its armor before a cluster of storm grenades where tossed inside. The blurred shape was gone the next moment before there was a crackling and flash of Arc light from within as the tank falls motionless.

This single attack was enough to put the operation on high alert as more of the mirage like anomalies descended upon them. Leaping out their Arc induced stealth the Vipers threw themselves at the osjiic lines, their bodies covered in Arc edged blades that leave afterimages with each movement and carve through their armor with ease. A Voidsinger manages to throw a sphere of Void energy at one leaping toward it with nested jaws spread wide only to go rocketing back when the sphere impacts. The unfortunate Voidsinger was then promptly tackled by another leaping from the side, its powerful jaws nearly tearing head from neck as it shakes its head like a feral predator.

Chaos erupts among the outer lines as the Arc infused undead were unleashed upon the Imperials, the flashing of the Arc the only indicator of their position in the clouds of disturbed moon dust. The juggernauts were quick to react, their sensors switching to track the Arc signatures and begin opening fire, concentrated Void blasts and heavy caliber slugs ripping them apart.

There was another sudden flash of Arclight, heralding the arrival of the green scaled Butcher followed by a splattering of black blood as an osjiic soldier is bisected by a bladed tail. Vle'Karak blinks with another flash as a Juggernaut swings its arm toward the serpent before reappearing behind it and moving with speed faster than the pilot could react to constrict the mech with his coils. When the Juggernaut staggers in its attempt to free itself Vle'Karak yawns wide and a spray of leaping Arc bolts erupts to strike nearby soldiers and Voidsingers before turning his attention back to the mech. His bladed tail leaps up glowing with energy and stabs rapidly into the torso of the mech until its slump and falls still.

Another flash of Arclight nearby catches the serpents attention, looking through the Arc itself to see past the dust and sees the armored form of Orvca, her heavy sickles stained with osjiic blood. The serpent hisses in the soundless void but his minds reaches tenatively into the weakening Arc Surge, <You fight well. I see the viciousness of Nekris and the cunning of Eiton in you>

Through the Arc the serpent could hear her laughter, <I do not fight to impress you, Butcher, but I appreciate it nonetheless>

They turn their heads together as they sense the arrival of the other serpents, Dne'tec and Cve'jok throwing themselves gleefully at the osjiic. They gives respectful nods to each other moments before throwing themselves against the invaders once more, each a veteran in their own right and united through their link to the Arc and the Predator Order when they each remember a time they would have slain each other without a second thought. Now they only have one objective, a single thought that compels them as it calls through the Arc.

Bring ruin upon them

As the Arc Disciple and the Ahkam threw themselves at the osjiic beachhead on the ground high above Jareth and his Void Disciples duel with the other Guardians in their fast and deadly ships. Eiton calls out to Jareth, saying he could swoop in with their Arc weaponry to take them out but the Voidknight pilot tells him to hold off, saying that the battle was personal for them.

While Predator had his doubts about the idea of continuing to let them fight he knew the fleet surrounding the Voidship should be his main target for disruption. Once more his ship and those in his strike force wrap themselves in bubbles of distorted light and disappear from view and sensor, their Arc powered weaponry recharging as they race for the blockade of ships. From his seat in the bridge Eiton kept watch over the flashes of Void energy and explosions that marked the path of the vicious dogfight between the inheritors of the Void.

The Armadan forces, supported by the fleet brought with Eiton, begin shifting their targets to focus their fire upon the collection of capital ships surrounding the Voidship at the center. Missiles streak upwards as missile silos scattered across the lunar surface begin a renewed barrage of surface to orbit missiles, Needles and Pikes leave streamers in their wake as their semi-sentient minds guide them past and through the line of sub-capitals, many of them shot down with a flourish of blossoming explosions. The rest that manage to break through gladly detonate themselves against the shields of the capital ships.

A pike missile following in the wake of another punches through the explosion of the first as it detonates against the shield of a Destroyer, breaking past to detonate against its hull with another vast explosion, causing the ship to list to the side as secondary explosions erupt in other sections.

From the surface the few remaining orbital lances still in operation open fire, concentrating the corrosive beams of energy against battleships in their attempts to burn through their hulls even as they come under fire.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvtEZaM6bdM

Yet as the capital ships of the osjiic fleet come under assault the five Void powered craft continue their duel, dancing and spinning in between the burning hulks of warships. They dodge between the rain of weaponsfire from turrets and cannons, the Voidknights taking the occasional shot of opportunity against passing ships to assist where they could in their dogfight. They flew at speeds so intense and threw their ships into dizzying spins and rolls, gravity a mere plaything for the undead as they fought at speeds that would kill nearly anything living. Their ships and even their own bones and armor creaked and strained under the stresses but still they fought on, beams and blasts of concentrated Void energy ripping across space in their eternal pursuit.

Voidknight Jareth had not felt such exhilaration since the Invasion of B'Nan where he had proven himself before as the greatest pilot of the Armada. Somewhere in him he felt a twinge of shame at feeling this excitement while the Void Temple was under threat and seemingly fought for the fate of the Voidknight Order and its honor. His rumination nearly allows a wing of heavy fighters that came racing in to pin him down against the hull of a battlecruiser but with a snarl the ship twirls at speeds that would cause any living pilot to pass out and unleashes a barrage of Void weaponry fueled by his own flames.

>cont
>>
>>2217325
As he raced to rejoin his apprentices he flew through the ravaged remains of the heavy fighters, a still moving form of an osjiic pilot bouncing off his ship. From a distance he could see the pair engaged with the Guardians in their equally fast and destructive strikecraft, the light warping around them from the massive discharges of Void energy. Yet as he accelerated his console flashes with an alert and a moment later the holographic form of the Deathshead Guard 13 Ascendant Blade appears before him.

Jareth growls in annoyance at the sight, "Why do you bother me? I am busy preparing to slaughter your comrades."

Still wearing a visored helm that hid a skull wreathed in ultraviolet fire they shook their head, "I thought you would have more honor than this, Voidknight. I said this was to be a battle between our students but yet you throw yourself into the fray."

Bristling with sudden anger the flames roiling off Jareth flare as he spits back, "Honor!? You speak of honor after breaking the very cease fire you proposed! The Osjiic Empire has no honor and your actions this day prove it! You bring shame to the Black Flame and every being who carries it in them!"

For the first time Jareth sees emotion come over the Deathshead who leans forward and slams a fist against the arm of their command chair, "Do you think I wanted to break my own truce!? The Empire moves at the will of the Emperor," they quickly regain their composure, leaning back as they straighten in their chair once more, "Even if we do not agree with it.

"I wished to make this battle at least worthy of our orders. But I see now you think this is just another attack by an enemy. So be it," the osjiic undead says and the hologram flickers as sensors detect a sudden build-up of energy from the Voidship, "Your apprentices seem to realize what this is, but for you, I shall treat you as yet another enemy this day. Until we meet in the battlefield, keep your flame strong."

As the connection breaks the Voidship opens fire upon the Voidknight, a truly impressive barrage of Void energy and missiles streaking for the much smaller ship. Being so small and fast though is all that saves him from the assault as he races away but even still the Void Terror groans with protest under the gravitic strain from the near miss. The Think Tank fused with the ship reports several moments later that a group of at least six sub-capitals, including a heavy cruiser were wiped out by the attack. Missiles continued to chase the nimble craft, turrets on its side swiveling to shoot them down leaving a trail of fire in its wake.

>cont
>>
>>2217331
His ship once more warns him of another salvo incoming but as the Voidship takes aim there was a flashing of Arclight as Eitons strike force emerge and open fire with their own assault. Arc lightning leaps from their fixed and spinal cannons, the bolts arcing toward the shields and dancing across them as they glow with sudden intensity. A breach appears briefly in the shield matrix and bolts of crackling energy leak through to strike the black hull and spread across it like flames tearing through dry brush. The attack was brief but damaging as the dangerous Arc energy feeds upon and strengthens itself briefly with the ambient Void energy soaked through seemingly every inch of the warship.

Voidknight Jareth calls out a thanks to Eiton as he races away to either assist his students or descend upon the capitals still under attack when the Voidship opens fire upon the Arc ships still uncloaked as they wait for their stealth to recharge. Unshielded beyond hardlight plating that flickered over patches of the hulls the Void blasts strike hard, even against the Arc powered craft five of the corvettes and frigates go down under that single attack. Predator Eiton swears in the Wormtongue as he forces his remaining ships to scatter until they could recharge their cloaks.

With the Arc ships forced to retreat the Voidship begins another barrage after the nimble Void Terror, the undead pilot gritting his teeth until they nearly crack with the strain as he struggles to avoid the barrage. Finally his luck seems to run out as a single bolt of condensed Void energy strikes him and detonates with a burst of destructive force that tears at the ship on the molecular level. He could feel several of the turrets torn away from the ship and the engines warping.

A psionic cry of alarm rang through the Armada fleets as they watch Jareths Void Terror begin tumbling toward the shipyards of the moon below trailing a streamer of distorted light. There was not much time to react as the craft plummets and smashes into a ship pylon, punching through it to crater itself into a construction factory miles away from the conflict for the Void Temple. Already Coffins began to descend toward him as mounting panic begins to grow among the Think Tanks.

>cont
>>
>>2217337
This panic was dispelled however as the Reconstructed stationed near the factory rush in through the new opening in the wall, Trolls pulling aside piles of rubble until it was blasted out with a sudden reverse of gravity. From the smoking crater stumbled forth Jareth, a forearm missing and portions of his armor crushed. His anger washes off him like a blaze of fury as he looked through the hole in the factory toward the looming Voidship that had ceased its assault after he fell. Once freed of the factory the floating rubble crashes down behind him.

He calls out to the nearby Reconstructed to send him a Gunship and that he would return to battle but a single Talon reaches out and places a clawed hand on his injured arm. The Voidknight turns to glare at it but stops when he feels the presence looking through and into him, a voice familiar and comforting in his head.

<Patience, my Voidknight. Heal and in time you will have your revenge. Trust in your Disciples and your siblings>

Jareth stares but as the Talon begins motioning for him to approach the Coffin that just landed he could feel that your presence was gone once more.

>Voidknight Jareth shot down and injured but surviving
>The Voidknight Disciples appear evenly matched in their dogfight with the Guardians for the moment

With Jareth unable to continue the fight he resigns himself to assisting the fleets remotely alongside the Solar Disciple and the Deep Rot as he is ferried by Coffin to a secure bunker and the Cauldron that awaits him. His psionic message was funneled to the Disciples who continued their violent duel with the Deathsheads, along with those preparing the tunnels for the assault on the Temple, <Keep strong, my Disciples. The Wormstar guides you now, show these imitators just who the true inheritors of the Black Flame are>

Under the constant barrage from the fleets more and more of the Empires capital ships began to fall toward the surface of the moon or float aimlessly with flames and atmosphere leaking free. The Voidship had made no move after shooting down the Voidknight and attacking the Predators strike force but still it loomed menacingly, a stain against the stars.

A sense of alarm rushes through the Deep Rot as deep space gravity sensors detectet another large gravity well rapidly approaching the system.

Moments later another deep space sensor half a lightyear from the first detect what appears to be yet another gravity well of an approaching fleet. The Deep Rot quickly makes predictions, knowing that from forcefully taken memories and implanted officers that the Imperial fleet was expecting reinforcements. The Armada as well was overdue to receive their expected reinforcements so it was only a matter of chance who would arrive first.

The answer came not long after as there is a large flash of light and discharged energy between Horizon's Drop and its red sun. Emerging forth from the burst of Void energy came another fleet, equal in size as the one attacking the moon but lacking a similar Voidship. Despite this lack it quickly angles itself toward the planet, advance flights of sub-capitals racing forward with shields raised and weapons priming.

The picket fleet still in orbit around the homeworld mobilize even as a swarm of Pike missiles lift off from the surface of the planet and launched from platforms on the nearly completed Wormstars Fist, the anti-ship missiles throwing themselves as the first line of defense to slow them down.

From the Armatocere Warship comes a message as it begins to accelerate around the planet to intercept the approaching fleet, the cacti warlords synthetic voice crackling out a simple, "The Empire will regret this folly."

From within its armored hull Thorn strikecraft are launched in a vast swarm, the nimble and compact fighters moving like an ever-shifting cloak around the vast ship. Several of its contingent fleet approach with it but two battlecruiser sized ships remain in protective orbit over Iti'a'Ropku.

Flashes of flame mark where the first missiles reached the advance scouts, the large missiles managing to damage many of the quickly approaching sub-capitals but many were still shot down before they could pass them toward the main fleet.

>cont
>>
>>2217633
A sense of stress washes over the Deep Rot then when a gravity well forms uncomfortably close to Horizon's Drop and with a blossom of Void energy another osjiic fleet emerges from FTL much closer to the planet. Smaller than either but consisting of mainly hangar ships they quickly angle themselves toward the city of Iti'a'Ropku, having appeared further north on the hemisphere, and accelerate while shedding swarms of fighters and dropships.

Alarms rang out across Horizon's Drop, it's citizens both living and undead racing to safety or battlestations in preparation. Yet as the attack fleet slowly descended into the upper atmosphere as they moved toward the city the anti-air defense that infested the landscape of the Armadas homeworld came to sudden life. Swarms of missiles race through the sky and mountains and hills unfold, orbital lance firing crackling beams of necrotic energy that cut across the sunlit skies and fire soon fills the sky.

It nearly feels like a full panic in the Deep Rot as the final detected gravity well is detected forming close to the incomplete orbital ring but the burst of energy was not solely of the Void. Tearing its way from FTL emerged a large fleet consisting of Reconstructed and Obsidianborn ships that waste no time in racing to intercept the surprise force aiming for Iti'a'Ropku.

From the Pyroclastic Destroyer racing at the center of the Armada came a welcome voice, Punisher Muic calling out across the Deep Rot and Obsidianborn airwaves, "Destroy them all! No mercy for truce-breakers!"

>Reinforcements have arrived!
>Punisher Muic has begun a counter attack against the surprise assault on Horizon's Drop

Horizon's Drop is under attack!

The Osjiic Empire has sent another fleet to your home system. Rivaling the size of the one attacking the moon this one appeared several lightminutes away and is currently accelerating toward the planet. As the picket fleet and Armatocere Warship diverted for interception a surprise strike force has appeared near the northern pole of the planet. Now this attack force, comprised mostly of hangar ships and strikecraft, moves with Iti'a'Ropku as the seeming target of their assault.

With the situation worsening the moment there came much needed relief as a large fleet arriving from Bastion comprised of both Reconstructed and Obsidianborn warships that had survived the Ahkam invasion. Leading this retaliatory force is Punisher Muic, freshly Reforged and eager to take her frustration out on these would-be interlopers.

War has come for your home but still you rest within your chrysalis of scavenged meat, bone and metal.

It was not the first time the Empire had come to this world, seeking to dominate it or leave it in ruin. It was not the first time the Armada had to fight them off, to defend its claimed home from them. The New Necrotic Armada learned and adapted, it being one of the core tenets of Jadyk's new philosophy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvUkROjv1U4

With their hulls glowing from the heat of reentry the hangar ships and warships of the invaders descended into a sea of weaponsfire from the surface. Missiles flock like swarms of infuriated insects of a disturbed hive, the daytime sky marred by explosions, fire, and smoke. Energy bolts and high velocity armaments pick and claw at the strikecraft launched from the hangars, their building sized weapons hidden among bunkers and fortresses scattered throughout the wilderness.

Yet the daytime skies seemed to darken by comparison as from within hollows carved into the earth and stone rose up the pillars of orbital lances, the energy unleashed from barrels wide enough to fly a Nail through was not the familiar sickly green, but rather the blinding indigo of weaponized Arc energy. With each lance of violent energy that reached up from the surface to carve through shield and hulls a ship began its long plummet to the surface. Void reactors drained by the Arc attacks they find themselves unable to stay afloat with their back up fusion generators, forcing many to abandon ship by escape pod or strikecraft.

With the assault on the moon the planetary defenses had taken the time to switch the elemental energies directed through the weapons from the typical Necrotic to the Arc. This change was proving quite effective at shooting down the invading ships who heavily relied on the Void. It seemed these attacks were further enhanced by the waning effects of the Arc Surge, several Think Tanks calculating that during the height of the Surge these lances may have been capable of taking out Battleship class Imperial ships with ease.

The sky grew dark not only as the flights of fighters and dropships neared, heralding the remaining fleet, but from the swarms of aerial Reconstructed that fill the air. Drakes and Devils take to the air, launching from hidden roosts as Necrotic flames leak from their jaws while Nails and Gunships launch from their own discreet hangars.

These forces met with great violence over the frozen mountains, fire, Void, and Necrotic lighting the noon sky. Reconstructed threw themselves like predatory pack hunters at the strikecraft. Devils latch onto passing aircraft to tear at the hulls and weaponry with claw and gnashing beaks, many shot off by rotating turrets but still the chaos spreads. Drakes, impossibly agile within in an atmosphere in comparison to the aircraft, twist and coil as they vomit forth sprays and blasts of Necrotic flame that corrode and rust the very armor and wings off their targets.

Osogo pilgrims marching for the promised city that came to them, first in dreams then by invitation from converted osogo, hunker down for protection. They watch the skies with fear welling in their hearts, streams of fire falling to the earth as thunder roils through the cloudless sky. Young calves bleat out in fear as their parents try to calm them as the defender members of their herds realize their impotence with their slings and stones. Yet the matriarches clutch at the rune carved stones, eyes transfixed upon the distant battle in the heavens.

Far above them, far from sight blocked by the atmosphere, Punisher Muic guides her fleet while conversing rapidly with the Deep Rot, the Solar Disciple, and Predator Eiton. At a quick command a portion of the Obsidianborn numbers detach from the formation and accelerate rapidly for the battle over the moon. The rest however split their fleet, a portion moving to help intercept those forces striking toward the city, the rest moving to assist the picket fleet against the larger incoming fleet.

A brief exchange is sent between her Destroyer and the Armatocere Warship already ahead of them to coordinate. The treeships cloud of Thornships launch almost in unison, racing out to engage the forward vanguard of strikecraft and sub-capitals. Muic feels both admiration for the Armatocere tactics and momentary pity for the Imperial strikecraft as those passing through that cloud are torn apart by a storm of energy bolts, shredding through them like a wave of blades.

Long range kinetic rounds strike against each fleets shields of both sides, several ships both Imperial and Reconstructed left behind after being damaged or destroyed. With the floral Warship holding the center of the initial picket fleet line the reinforcements split "above and below" the line, racing forth in an attempt to catch the invaders in a pincer or slow their approach.

The tactic was seemingly detected by the invaders as they adjust their aim, opening new firing vectors against the new forces while continuing on their approach. Muic bares teeth made of sharpened obsidian blades in an excited grin from her throne of warped metal, glad the Imperials seemed eager to meet her forces in glorious combat. Her frustrations at nearly dying because of a suicidal Ahkam had been only partially sated by the carnage she unleashed upon the invaders who dared to set foot upon Bastion, she was grateful for this chance at another battle so soon.

She knew the Lavafather, nor yourself truly blamed her for her defeat, but still she felt the need to prove herself and she swore the death of these osjiic would be her redemption.

You can sense them, feel them, the minds and souls of all those held in your sway. The motes of light, some shining with the Void, the Solar, and the Arc, but most commonly, the Necrotic, filled a sea of oblivion around you. You knew them to be your Reconstructed, their simple minds glimmering in the gloom but among them there were the radiant stars that you knew to be your Generals, your children. They shined like beacons in the endless sea, extensions but also corruptions of yourself, pulling and guiding the motes of light around them.

You focus harder, bodiless, formless, adrift, your awareness sharpens and you see new lights flicker into being. It takes longer to recognize them, but with a glimpse of one that shown radiantly with the Necrotic, a familiar light that led to your freedom, you realize these lights are that of the Living. They shine in the gaps between the lights of the Reconstructed and undead, many brighter or as dim as the simple Reconstructed but others shined remarkably in overlap with motes of the Necrotic. You recognize these Living as those that had taken a Symbiot within themselves, their light linked to your own.

You see the light of the Solar, Void, Necrotic, and Arc among them as well. Markers of those that drew upon or personified the element. You witness a constellation of the Arc, thirteen stars held imprisoned within a shell of Necrotic light. Brightest of all were three separate and distant, the light of one radiating almost as fierce as the solitary star of your returned son Nekris. Through your solidifying connection to the great cosmic weave of the Arc you feel the joy and exhilaration of Vle'Karak as swathes of the Void are snuffed out in his passing.

In the distance you see the twin stars, one the pure light of Ruscuvs might, the other the corrupted sun of Valresko. Even further, impossibly far beyond their distance, you sense a glimmer, a brief mirage of the Void and Necrotic and you are suddenly, vividly aware of the lost child, the Wayward Disciple. You see, ever so briefly an image of a world corrupted and sick, the cancer of the Necrotic eating away at it, but beneath the sickness and entropy you feel it, the song of the Void hidden among those that live there.

Your mind is brought rushing back, impossible distances racing past in an instant as you sense something else, something that upsets this new reality you find yourself awakened to and aware.

It is not a light, nor the blankness of oblivion, it is a stain. A stain of impossible negative light, a gap within reality that you begin to notice elsewhere, like a sinister cancer spreading through the lights of reality like roots. Yet this wrongness feels familiar to you, and through your focus upon it you realize what it is.

The Sun-Eater, Akka-Tor, the Wraith who rejected reality and was rejected by it. You feel her gaze upon you and hear a single whispered word, <Soon> it promises

Upon the moon of Horizon's Drop the osjiic continue attempting to break through to the Void Temple. With both the loyal Ahkam and the Arc Disciple sent against them their forces of elite and veteran soldiers manage to hold the line for the moment but it is clear they cannot hold it for long. Jor was equally annoyed and impressed by the skills of the soldiers and juggernauts that managed to stand against them. He stood on the roof of a partially collapsed building, the sensors in his helm scanning the battlefield while also being fed intel by the Gargoyles situated throughout.

From what little could be gained through the cloud of obscuring moondust and reports from the tunnels underneath the drilling team of Deathsheads Guardians was rapidly nearing a large railway tunnel fifteen meters down and nearly broken through the reinforcing walls. From there they would have to fight through masses of Reconstructed and the Void Disciples but it would be only a few tunnels over from the Temple itself.

From the trio of Disciples below Jor receives a hail and an image of them appears in the display projected before his eyes.

Bowing their skulls, helms held in hand, they look to the hologram of the necromancer displayed by a demi-Think Tank before them, "First Necromancer, they are nearly upon us. We know the Serpents and our sister Disciple fight to assist us but we are Disciples of the Void. This battle is a matter of honor and inheritance. Let them break through, we will meet them in battle and prove our worth. It is what Voidknight Lorgul would wish."

"They outnumber you, our sensors detected there are at least five of them and a lot more elite Voidsingers. Lord Jadyk wouldn't want me letting you sacrifice yourself without assistance," he quickly replies even as the Deep Rot feeds him intel as the newly crafted swarms of Reconstructed began bursting forth from the tunnels in other sections of the lunar shipyards. He chuckles softly as his mind briefly spreads across the hordes and he remotely witnesses the carnage they began to unleash as Imperial beachheads and hold-outs are overrun in a tide of bone and metal and spilled osjiic blood.

"This is no laughing matter, First Necromancer," one of the Disciple growls, bringing Jors attention back to them.

"Of course not, you're right, my sincere apologies," he says, bowing his head to them then looking out across the battlefield where he saw an osjiic soldier go sailing into two directions through the low gravity as Cve'jok dives back into the dustcloud.

>Five of the Deathshead Guardians and their Voidsinger retinue have nearly broken through to a main tunnel that leads to the Temple
>The three Void Disciples standing guard over it request a chance to meet them in battle but face significant resistance
>The three Ahkam and the Arc Disciple continue to disrupt the beachhead while across the moon resistant hold outs of Imperial forces are being rooted out.

What should Jor command?

Well their inheritance fight should only be a matter of honour with the Deathshead Guardians if I understand? So as a compromise the surface Arc team could leave the Deathshead Guardians alone but the voidsingers and random mooks are fair game. With the understanding that if the Guardians break through and the Void disciples are losing the Arc team WILL reinforce them. Elemental disciples don't grow on trees, after all there's an armatocere joke in there somewhere

>Let the Void Disciples engage the Deathshead that break through
>The Ahkam and Arc Disciple continue their assault on the Voidsingers and soldiers

Also recommended was
>Have the Arc Disciple isolate and fight one of the Deathshead

"You will have your combat. It is what Lord Jadyk would wish," Jor says, the trio bowing their heads and saluting with a fist against their armored chests before donning their helms and the image flickers out.

With a quick issuing of commands Jor hops from the edge of the building, the flaps of his jump-pack flaring as he drifts to the ground and starts hopping from one pile of rubble to another. In his wake only few paces behind a swarm of Reconstructed followed, their claws and feet kicking up small burst of moondust as they scrabble and hop over the ruins.

The beachhead of the entrenched osjiic was blanketed by the cover of the disturbed moondust, providing concealment from the Cyclops snipers encircling their position. Yet for the entities that stalked and hunted them within relied little on sight, tracking them by the scent of the Void, a tug at their cores begging to be consumed.

Like monsters of the primordial dark they struck without warning, maiming and slaughtering in a blink of an eye before disappearing into obscurity once more leaving the dead and injured in their wake.

Their assault would have broken their lines if not for the Juggernaut mechs that had been sent along. While they utilized the Void in reactors and weaponry they were supplemented with back-up systems, seemingly developed to counter the effects of the Arc. Several times the serpents found themselves entangled, sometimes quite literally, with battling a mech one-on-one but they proved their capability.

Should you have been watching you would have found it amusing how easily the Ahkam seemed to adapt to fighting alongside the Arc Disciple and the Vipers and Savages that attacked alongside them.

Osjiic soldiers hunkered down a deployed wall, taller than most humans but enough that the towering soldiers could aim and fire over it. Voidsingers hid behind clusters of soldiers with their heavy shields, knowing they were targets of the serpents attacks and easily tracked through the dust.

Several of the veteran Voidsingers, some on the path to becoming a Deathshead in their future, had swapped their Void powered weaponry for the kinetic and missile variety as they attempt to track the Ahkams path by following the sickening sensation of the Arc and opening fire when they sense them closer. The effort was commendable, Dne'tec earning a fresh burn from a missile that detonated near his midsection but a bolt of Arc lightning traced its path and caused its firer to cook alive in their armor.

Shouting rang out over their radios in the inner defenses as a blur of distorted light causes the dust to swirl with seemingly nothing passing through. An officer snarling out condemnations for the outer defenses letting it through has their words cut short as a heavy bladed sickle lashes out in passing and slices the armor and flesh underneath from one shoulder to the opposite hip, the blur long past by the time their innards began spilling out into the cold void.

Cloaked in deformed light and surging Arc energy Orvca throws herself with abandon at the Imperial lines. A Voidsinger charges her, its club shimmering with Voidlight as it swings two-handed only to be caught between her crossed sickles. The edge cuts into the voidbone and lodges itself as she tugs, pulling the soldier off balance as she spins, dragging them behind her back as her elbow stabs back, a stout spike of bone puncturing their side and rips free with a spurt of black blood. Continuing the spin she jerks the club free from their grasp as the other sickle slashes at their lower back below their jump pack.

With a kick of her heavy boot the dying Voidsinger, no longer able to use their legs, was sent flying into the soldier charging with warcleaver raised. By the time they'd caught the Voidsinger and lowered them to the ground she was gone, leaping over a wall while simultaneously dropping a thermal imploder. The explosive lands at the feet of the soldiers and Voidsinger behind the mobile cover unnoticed as they turn and shoot at the Reconstructed osjiic leaping over them. She feels the heat and pressure wave of the resulting detonation that tears both wall and osjiic soldier to pieces.

She was glad she could not hear their screams as she and the serpents carved a bloody swath through their numbers, but as she followed the beacon of the Void to where the Deathshead and their Voidsingers drilled through the moon her mind wanders. Her memories, returned to her by the Arc Surge, brought forth memories of her time as a loyal soldier of the Empire. Once deployed to fight against an Ahkam incursion she could recall facing the serpents once in battle before. She idly wondered if she inflicted as much fear upon her former comrades on this distant moon the same way the now dead serpent had upon her and her squad, hunting them through a filthy alien swamp.

Clearing her mind of her doubts she remembers her time among the Legion then with the other Arcdancers. How the Predators had understood and helped her satisfy that gnawing sense of detachment, of isolation from other beings both living and undead, by unlocking her potential to connect with the Arc.

She remembered nearly dying, of volunteering what remained of her life to strengthen the family she'd gained. Uncaring if she would remember or not she had entered the Cauldron content with whatever came next.

Now, with those memories of her past life, as Orvca; Imperial, Legionnaire, Arcdancer, returned to her in this new form of might and ferocity, she found herself filled with a contentment that had long eluded her. She may have been such as these poor soldiers she slaughtered in her past life, but now she was of the Armada, a Disciple of the Arc Predators and she had never been happier or content.

The pit around which the Deathshead Guardians stood with hands outstretched sprayed dense moondust into the non-existent air, the swirling sphere of Void energy ripping through stone and armor plating. The densely developed moon had much of its subsurface reinforced with armor, particularly near sensitive sectors such as the various temple, and it had slowed down their drilling. But now they could feel as the sphere finally breaks through to the large tunnel they had detected below.

As they dispersed the Void energy those around them began preparing to jump down and begin their undoubtedly deadly assault upon the hidden temple. They knew the Ahkam and the Reconstructed drew closer, the cluster of hovertanks and Juggernauts grouped up tight around them deterring even the serpents from a head-on assault so far but that was sure to change. It was a soldier, unpowered but a veteran of numerous conflicts, that called out over their radios, pointing out how the dust began to move around them.

It shifts and flows, as if a breeze had started but without an atmosphere they new it to be impossible. As they prepared themselves for an attack they find a sudden violent pressure slam down upon them. While the unprepared were driven to their knees and Juggernauts staggered, the force wasn't enough to damage the soldiers. Rather it became apparent what had happened as the cloud falls, compressed down and blown away to reveal the cause.

Floating several meters in the air along the border of their beachheads defenses a human armored in Reconstructed armor and necromancer robes held a staff in one hand and the other stretched out, hooked into a vicious claw in their direction. Floating around them were five strange statues of crystal and bone that shone with internal light. Soldiers opened fire and they watch as glowing kinetic rounds curve around an unseen bubble of force. Floating nearby was the form of Vle'Karak looming over the human almost protectively, the other two serpents coiling above the heads of the Reconstructed.

As the dust continues to blow away and fall to the ground a near palpable sense of distress washes over the soldiers. Filling the avenues and paths, clustered over piles of rubble and destroyed tanks and vehicles, were dozens upon hundreds of Reconstructed. They stood still in the eerie silence of the airless moon, gnashing their fangs and flexing claws as they awaited some kind of signal. Shocked into momentary paralysis most of the osjiic do no realize that most of the undead arrayed around them lacked ranged weaponry or the bulkiness of enhanced soldiers.

>cont
>>
>>2229770
Their signal was suddenly given as the floating necromancer thrust the staff forward and the tide of undead rushes forth as one. Dozens of Reconstructed perished in a blink of an eye as the trapped soldiers opened fire and cut down the first rows. Juggernauts unleash salvos of rockets from pods on their backs that blast apart the Reconstructed they struck, spinning barrels spitting streams of burning metal that rip them apart with ease.

Yet for every Talon, Troll, or Lurker cut down, five more rushed forth in its place. They attacked, stampeding over the corpses of their fallen in their fury. Throwing themselves over the barricades the osjiic cut them down or smash them with hammers or clubs, cleavers carving through several with wide swipes. Voidsingers shine like beacons, the Voidlight wreathed around them sending Reconstructed flying back or smashing into each other, their hammers shattering and breaking any who came too close.

It was still not enough.

The tide of undead was impossible to halt and the Deathshead Guardians understood this within the first few moments of the attack. With a psionic shout among themselves they begin dropping down through the yawning pit along side their remaining Voidsingers.

As the last Deathshead sends a sphere of condensed energy to detonate with surprising force that tears a group of Trolls to pieces then prepares to leap down they are interrupted by a blur of Arclight. Two sickles seem to appear from nothingness, thrown and tumbling end over end until the blades sink into their armor of their shoulder and back. With a psionic shout of pain they stumble, nearly falling into the hole as they try to dive in but Arc lightning leaps off the weapons and the Deathshead finds itself yanked back and thrown away from the pit.

The sickles, manipulated by their connection to the Disciple, drag the undead and throw them over the heads of osjiic and Reconstructed alike to land with cloud of disturbed dust. The weapons rip free of the Guardians armor and zip back into the grasp of the undead standing at the ready across from them. Around the pair the tide of undead flowed past and around them, several Brutes stomping past as Talons and Lurkers rushed about their pounding steps as the Deathshead pushes themself to their feet.

They look around quickly before focusing on the Arc Disciple and quickly pulls a warhammer from their side and a metal shield unfolds from their forearm. The armored slats that formed the Reconstructeds helm unseal and slide back, revealing the cluster of alien eyes pulsating with hypnotic lights and patterns, her gorgons gaze attempting to stun the undead. The way they threw themselves at her with a ripple of Voidlight seemed to indicate to her that her attempt was for naught as it swings at her, the hammer leaving a crater in the ground as it detonates with a burst of Void energy when she dodges out of the way.

Her helm slides shut once more, the Disciple throwing herself against the Deathshead with excitement. Her sickles slashed, the Arc edged blades leaving afterimages with each cut and slice. Arclight crackles along her form and weapons in much the same way the Void roiled off her foes.

She feels the armor of her arm crack and nearly shatter as she throws her forearm up to deflect a blow of the hammer, her sickle lashing out to stab into their side and the gash sprays Voidflame rather than blood. Its shield slams into her, driving her back but with a flash of light she disappears. The Deathshead quickly turns their head from side to side and barely manages to spin in time to deflect the blade that lashes from the Arc when she blinks behind them but the other reaches past their defenses to sink the point of the weapon into their armor and leave another rent that spews Voidflame.

All around them the undead surged to wipe out the osjiic but still the invaders fought on, comprised of veterans from countless conflicts across the sector. As Jor floated above the battlefield, commanding the tide of Reconstructed, he was unsure if this tenacity was a testament to the osjiic race itself or to the stolen legacy and powers of Voidlord Ghul.

Vle'Karak coiled near him, slithering around him to keep himself aloft as he spoke through his radio implant, "Long ago I came to admire the Osjiic as a species. Hardy and stubborn, they would have made a perfect vassal race had the Ahkam found them before they rose to power. If not for our talents, their Empire would have crushed the Dynasties long ago."

"They may take longer to die but they will die just as any other," came Jors cold reply, "I am growing increasingly annoyed with them, thinking they can assault my home and the Armada as they please.

"After this, we shall have to speak with Voidknight Lorgul about solving the Empire problem in this sector, for good."

>The Arc Disciple Orvca has engaged a lone Deathshead Guardian in a violent duel
>Jor and the Ahkam continue their assault on the beachhead, breaking through it with a tide of freshly crafted Reconstructed
>The Void Disciples prepare to meet the remaining Deathshead in combat in the tunnels underneath

Sorry for calling it here and for the delay earlier but I'm more tired than I thought I would be.

Hope folks had fun, I know I am writing it. Hope to continue the thread more later this afternoon. Keep an eye on twitter.

Also don't forget about checking my ask.fm, I recently answered some questions and always enjoy receiving others if you have questions about the worldbuilding, lore, or characters of the setting.

I am also still working on that character/faction list pastebin.

As always, feel free to leave suggestions or discuss the future of the quest. I'm always keeping tabs on the threads until they fall off the board

I went back and checked, his first words in quest were
>"Yes yes, please just don't kill meee," he whines, looking at the ground afraid
and now to
>"They may take longer to die but they will die just as any other," came Jors cold reply
So... you could say there's been some change

As to the focus I like it, he's one of my favourite characters though to be fair I think all of our generals are great
Thanks for running and hope to see you this afternoon!

We really need to pay more attention to the Wayward Disciple. I'm curious as hell about the Void being so prevalent on that world despite the necrotic corruption
>>
>>2229866
I like it. In fact I was wondering if we could have a little interlude when the invasion is over with different POVs. Like Buddy talking to Confederate civilians who've seen the news. We haven't had a word from the Pirates in ages, it would be nice to see what they've been up to. Assault on Iti'a'Ropku recap from the POV of one of our citizens. I imagine there will be ground combat and surely there is room for heroics by someone's pet talon saving its owner's family.

Just some little things you know? Big ass space battles are cool and all but sometimes you need a reminder of who you are fighting for.

I would prefer if that didnt happen for a while. He is useful as someone who can speak to the living. Red Leaf Strains is far better at the personal touch(talking to a few individuals and the common man), while Jor makes a good figurehead. I feel that when he inevitably becomes a lich, he will lose something.

So how about That Bitch being a total creeper? I think she is just waiting for us to fully manifest are powers of Abomination and Salvation so she can then gorge herself on us and honestly...she scares me. She isnt some gigantic empire, chained by bureaucracy and logistics. She isnt some god, contained in another dimension. She is a singular entity that could just float into the heart of our civilization and eat us. After we deal with this invasion, I think we should ask the Masked for some help. They want her dead to, so they should be willing to help us in some way.

>Asking something to the Masked of all people
They are less trustworthy than a fox in a poultry. If anything, they are one more ennemies we will eventually have to fight against. Hell I trust the Trio who tried to murder us more, at least they are honest about what they want.
>>
>>2237712
SOme of the Masked seem to be rooting for us, some are specifically against us, while some dont care one way or another. But all of them are likely worried about The Ho since she killed one of them. I trust that they want her dead.
