He’s fuming. The guy seems like he has no intention of letting you go. Around you a small crowd is gathering. You’ll have to take action fast.

The guy is undoubtedly a [Mob], but for some reason, his features stand out to you. Like you’ve seen this guy before...

But this is no time for analysis. You--

He shoves you away. You stay in your feet, not letting yourself be intimidated.

“I don’t owe you jack,” the guy says. “Only thing I have to tell you is you go near Mayumi again, I’m going to come after you. Got that?”

You hear the mutterings of the crowd.

“Isn’t that Hanazawa’s…?”
“What’s he doing with the gomasuri?”

The guy emanates killing intent. He seems like a brash dude, so you say--

“What, too cowardly to put up a fight, idiot?” He starts speaking in a louder voice. “I didn’t know you were such a coward, Yamada-san!”

The crowd is silent. You can’t gauge what the mobs are thinking.

He faces you again, shaking his head. “I don’t see why we even need to talk. Way I see it, you’re a stranger trying to intrude in our lives. So why don’t you piss off already? I bet you’re going to walk away now like the little sissy you are.”

He’s looking foolish acting like this. You decide to take the high ground. You cross your arms, and look at him, slightly shaking your head. You hope that that would be enough for him to come to his senses…

But in the end, it looks like that just angered him more.

“You little--!”

He begins to charge at you. You ready yourself, but you’re going to be half a second slower by not being in a stance.

You’ve been training with your father at night for self defense, so you feel somewhat prepared for whatever he’s going to throw at you.

But…

The guy moves fast, but not as fluid as Nakahara or your father. You’re no expert in fighting. But is it possible this guy is a beginner?

You dash. He tries to react. The awkward position means he couldn't move fast enough. You sweep his feet and he tumbles down to the ground.

“Guh--!”

The fall seems to have winded him. You stand over him, panting. The next thing to do is--

“Yamada-san!”
“Ken-kun!”
“Yukio!”

You feel dragged back by two pairs of arms.
It’s Ryou’s and Nakamura Eiji’s.

From the corner of your eye, you see the crowd part. Hanazawa emerges from the mobs, and she rushes…

Towards the guy in the ground, trying to sit up.
He’s glaring at you. He tries to push up, but Hanazawa keeps him from doing so.

“Yukio, stop it!”

Nakamura and Ryou keep their grip on both of your arms.

“Ken-kun, let’s get out of here…” Ryou begs into your ear.
"Ryou, what the hell--"
"Not now, Ken-kun!"
Nakamura is looking for a way out of the crowd, which has grown quite sizable now.

She lets go of you, and so does he.
“Thanks, class rep. I could walk on my own, you know? Let’s get out of here.”

You leave without waiting for their reply. The crowd parts to let you pass through. You don’t bother looking back.

-------

The whole walk was a daze. You didn’t know what to think. You were expecting to be mad, or sad, or something. But instead, you feel hollow.

“Ken-kun.”

The voice of the class rep brings you back to your senses.

“Are you alright? You’ve been walking aimlessly for a while now.”
Indeed, you’re in a part of town you don’t recognize. She looks confused and worried about your current state. Nakamura Eiji stands there, saying nothing.

“Well...only recently. But yeah, I know him. I was with Eiji awhile ago when I saw him stomping off to somewhere. Then I saw Hanazawa looking for him, and, well…we had a hunch he was coming for you.”

She twirls with her hair and sighs. “Look, I don’t know what he told you, but fighting is not allowed in school grounds, Ken-kun. Even if I did catch you outside the gates. And he’s an underclassman as well, what will the others think?”

“Underclassman? He’s taller than me.”

She laughs. “Right?”
But her smiling face quickly returns to being serious.

“You need to apologize. To both of them.”
“...And why do I have to do that? He’s the one who started it. Who is this Yukio guy to Hanazawa anyway?”

Slap!

You hear a sound from the corner of the street.

The three of you look at each other, before scrambling to get a peek at the corner.

You spot Hanazawa, back turned from the three of you, speaking to Yukio. His head is turned, his left cheek red. Though you couldn’t see her face, you could tell she’s mad just from the air.

“Mayu--”
“Don’t you dare call me by my first name right now! Why did you get in a fight with Yamada-kun?!”
“But you said--”
“Shut up! I know what I said, and I don’t recall telling you to get in a fight! What will the others think of you and me now? Do you want to be branded as a delinquent?!”

“Wait, hang on Yukio-kun.” Ryou steps forward. “Why are you apologising to him?”
“It’s because I started the fight, Hikaru-senpai. I only ended up in my back because he was defending himself. I don’t think he had any real intention to fight me, even if I was taunting him.”

Thanks to the invitation of the Hanazawa siblings, you find yourself in Hanazawa’s room.

The room itself is plain, not much different from your own room. The curtains are unremarkable, and even the sheets are a boring, bland beige.

The difference, however, is that it has a few things that makes the room remarkable.
First is a bookshelf, stacked to the brim with different kinds of shonen manga.
Second, by the study table, is a stack of books about programming.
And third, perhaps strangest of them all, is a dual monitor computer, with a mechanical keyboard and a CPU with flashing LED lights.

“Whoa,” You catch Ryou observing the different trinkets in the room, especially with the massive computer. “I didn’t know Yukio-kun was a big nerd.”

You keep silent, but still couldn’t keep the smile on your face. It took everything to stop yourself from saying, ‘Wrong Hanazawa, class rep.’

The three of you are seated in the coffee table, waiting. Hanazawa left the three of you here and said she was going to prepare refreshments. Yukio went off to somewhere, probably to his own room.

“Ryou, Nakamura-san, excuse me for a moment…”
“Eh? Ken-kun, where are you going?”
“I think I’ll just be heading down to help Hanazawa.”

“I’ll help t--”
Nakamura prepares to stand up, but Ryou stops him.
“Actually, Eiji, I have something to ask you.”
“Ah, sure.”

As he settles back down by the table, Ryou looks back and gives you a wink. You nod, and head out the room.

“Now which direction was it again…?”

The Hanazawa household is not massive, but the doors and hallways are featureless and plain.

You feel a presence behind you. You turn to see Yukio.

“Restroom’s that way, Yamada-senpai.”
“Actually, I’m looking for the stairs.”
“Going already?”
“No, I was thinking of helping your sister…”

He glares at you.

“If Hana...er...if Mayumi hasn’t told you yet, then it isn’t really my place to say.”

He stares at you, silent. You know notice why he looked familiar, despite never meeting him before - he has the same eyes as Hanazawa.

“Listen, Yamada-senpai. Stay away from my sister.”
“You’re being too overprotective a little brother, Yukio.”
“Maybe I am. Do you think I care? And I don’t think I’m being too overbearing in wanting to protect my sister against a guy hated by most of the student body.”

You wince. So it has even penetrated into the lower levels.

“I’ll never hurt your sister, Yukio. I care about her. I want her to be happy”
“That so? Then, do something for me, will ya?”
“What is it?”

He stretches his neck, motioning to Hanazawa’s bedroom.

“I want you to crush Hikaru Ryou.”

Alright, we need to take mental stock of where we're at with who so as to not lose track of what needs doing:

Hanazawa: Girlfriend, currently in a bit of a spat due to not telling her about our getting bullied issues. Need to resolve that.

Nakamura Eiji: Still cool, still oblivious.

Nakahara Fumi: Rival, need to throw down with her one day just to vent some force aggression and maybe learn some rad moves. ...I've been playing Yakuza a lot, sue me.

Kobayashi Mariko (Rich Ojou): In an 'alliance', but we need to hash out details somehow. Need to meet with her soon, see if we can't plan out a way to take advantage of her assets. May also need to (once again) clarify the fact that we have no particular overriding desire to get in her way of gaining Eiji as a boyfriend should it come down to it.

Fujibayashi Rinko: Red flags fucking everywhere on this bitch. Maybe I'm paranoid. Otherwise, no particular interaction, so nothing to say here.

Tezuka Rei: In an alliance with. Has nominally given up on Eiji in order to see her old friend Hikaru Ryou in a more mentally safe space. Unknown if those are her true intentions or not, or if they're merely a side goal, but either way we're in accord and can at the very least expect little/no direct hostility from her.

Hikaru Ryou: Troubled ally whom it has been made clear considers romantic love a substitute for personal self-affirmation and self-esteem. Current goal is to readjust these values so that she no longer considers a romantic love interest necessary to make herself feel of worth.

Glasses Girl (I'm sorry, I forget her name and can't find where she says it): Full-fledged backer at the other school, currently assisting in warding off rumors on that front.

(We really should maybe try to start writing that book. Or at least make it a short story. It'd be good to permanently mark down our thoughts on this whole thing.)

Anyway, if I'm missing anything or otherwise misinterpreted something, feel free to correct it.
>>
>>2205618
I don't think Hanazawa is angry at us over the bullying. Judging by what her brother asked, it's more likely she's miffed over Hikaru's manstealing attempt and our reaction to it.

Yukio stands silent, waiting for your reply. The voices from inside Hanazawa's room echo in the quiet corridor. The class rep's cheerful voice, and Nakamura Eiji's prompt straight man replies. They're your friends, or at least you'd like to think so.

Yukio disappeared before you could say anything else. You make your way down the stairs and try to find the kitchen.

"Look, Hanazawa...about the events earlier...in the classroom."
She's looking at the table, drawing circles in the cloth.
"...What about it?"
"Well...I think you've realized what's been going on already."
"...Yeah. So?"
"So...I'm sorry."
"Why are you apologizing?"
"Because I should have told you. You deserved to know."
"Not really," she sighs, ragged. "I'm not the one getting called mean names, or being pelted with papers, or who knows what else, right?" She shakes her head. Her eyes are watering. "It's just my boyfriend, right?"
"Hanazawa..."
"Why didn't you tell me? We're a team, right? You, me, class rep...we agreed right? Why didn't you tell me what's been going on then?"
"It's..." Chest heavy, you stumble with your words. "I was just trying to protect you."
"If it ends with you bearing the pain on your own, then I don't want it."

She wipes her eyes before any tears flow.
"Yamada...no, Ken-kun...you're really important to me. I'm not asking you to bare everything to me, but...I just want to be there whatever you're going through, good times or bad. We're a team. Please don't bear everything yourself."
She fiddles with the edge of the table cloth.
"It doesn't have to be me either," she whispers. "As long as you're not alone...even if..."

You stand up from the table and sit down beside her. You grab both sides of her cheek, and kiss her on the forehead.
"I'm sorry, Mayumi."
"...Mm."

She puts her head on your chest, and you embrace her.

The kettle boils, the shrill whistle filling the room.

You help Hanazawa in bringing up the tea tray.
"Took you two long enough," Hikaru says, grinning.

Both of you apologize, and serve tea cakes and drinks.
The chat between you four is pretty random and not really about anything, however it's light and happy.

You catch Hanazawa smiling and giggling to another comedy duo act by the tsundere class rep and the idiot Eiji. Your heart is filled with warm feelings.
Underneath the table, you stretch out your hand to grasp hers.
She squeezes back, and entwines her fingers with yours. They're small, and soft, and smooth.

------

"Take care, class rep, Nakamura-kun, Yamada-kun," Hanazawa sees the three of you out the doorway, waving.

The three of you wave back, and exit the Hanazawa property. You never caught a glimpse of Yukio again.

You walk behind the two, while Ryou engages Eiji with idle chatter, when she looks back.

She looks at Eiji, then back at you, then shrugs and smiles.
"Sure. I think I'll be back by next week. See you then?"

"That's right, Hanazawa might ask me about that novel any day now..."
You stand up from your bed and head to your table.
"...where am I going to write it though..."

You almost forgot you don't have a laptop. A laptop would mean your document will be more secure, not to mention you could do other things like browse the internet with it. You'll have to work and save up for it though.

"This'll do for now, I guess."

You pull out a spare notebook and bring out your mechanical pencil.
You open to the first, empty page, and write...

Er, what should your novel be about?

>An exact replica of everything that has happened so far.
>A story loosely based on Nakamura Eiji's harem
>An allegory of your own story, in the shape of a parable
>An entirely different, original story

pissing against the tide, but this seems like the best way to take a genuine break from the constant shittery thrown at us.
>>
You decide to base the story of your own, and tell it in the style of a parable.
"Hmm..."
You find the task hard and arduous. You're not much of a writer in this life, nor in the past you think.
You scribble some down, before giving up and just heading to bed.

It'll come to you eventually, you think, as your vision fades and you head to sleep...

-------

The jogging session the next day was quiet and normal, though ocassionally you'd catch Murakami Saya glancing at you.
You asked her what is it, but she shakes her head.

'It's probably nothing,' were her words.

Your morning route ends with no other special events. You head home and get into your uniform.

As you exit your house, you see Tokomichi Endou zoom past on his bicycle. You've never really interacted with him, is that something you should consider in the future?

You leave the house and go on your way to the school.
The stares today are...pretty intense. The air is full of tension. All the gazes are on you now. You feel like something big is going on.

You arrive at the lockers. Carefully, you open the door, expecting something bad...

But, nothing. Not even the usual rubbish, or missing shoe.
Just a single note, on top of your pair of indoor slippers.

>"Back of School. NOW."

It's a different hand writing. It's not Tezuka Rei's.

"Look at me, I'm so original, writing a vaguely threatening note stuffed into your locker, cuz THAT hasn't been done to death"

The Collective is very original and unique, guys.
>>
>>2213911
You follow the note.

In the back of the school is an angry Kobayashi Mariko, stomping her foot. On the ground, you also spot a pile of rubbish, wrapped together in a plastic bag.
"You really should clean your locker, Yamada Ken." She says, blowing away a loose strand of silver hair. "But really. I shouldn't be surprised. You're already careless enough as it is, how could I expect you to at least be a tidy person?" She seems agitated. Her tongue's even sharper than normal for an ojou.

You ignore her insults for now. "Thanks for that. But why did you call me?"
"Why? Why?! Look at this, Yamada-kun, then tell me why!"

She pulls out her phone, swipes down, and shows the screen to you.

It's a picture of the scene from yesterday. Hanazawa is helping Yukio up, while Ryou is holding you back. Eiji looks barely visible from this angle.

"You beat up an underclassman? And that idiot class rep had to hold you back?!"
"T-That isn't what happened at all!"

You explained what happened to Kobayashi, but she just gets more and more angry the more you explain it.
"Yamada-kun. You and the class rep are absolute morons."
"...What?"
"You're already in hot water as it is! -Everyone- has an agenda against you! Of course they're going to twist the narrative to suit their needs. Why didn't you avoid the conflict?"
"I..."
"You didn't have to push the kid down. Hanazawa's brother might be a tall guy, but you're still the upperclassman. And the class rep being there did not help at all."

She types something on her phone, her nails clacking on the screen hard.
"She asks for my help then goes on to do this...I'll have a word with her about this, but that'll have to wait. I don't know what they're going to do."
She marches away, leaving you behind.

"Yamada-kun, do you have friends in your class?"
"Er, yes. Why?"
"Get them to leave 2-1. And make sure they're gone for a good, long, while."

>More stuff to make us look bad for the menials, that wasn't our fault nor was what really happened.

>>
This is legitimately retarded. Like, it's not even fun anymore, it's just a dude getting fucked over by the mob and everyone's either in on it or doesn't have the balls to oppose them.

Shit, you basically have the choice of 'be a delinquent' or 'be a member of the schoolyard Yakuza' if you want any peace in your life.
>>
>>2213996
You arrive back in the classroom. Your classmates are quiet. Eerily so.
"Oh?"

You make your way to your seat. Hanazawa's already there fixing her things.
"Yamada-kun. Good morning."
"...Good morning, Hanazawa."

"Ohhhhhh?"

She looks at you, a bit confused. "Is there something wrong, Yamada-kun?"
"It's--"

"OOOOOOHHHHHHHH!"

Tokomichi suddenly stands up, his mouth hanging open, while holding a piece of yellowed paper.
"Endou?" Nakamura Eiji is surprised by the sudden outburst of his seatmate.
"Nakamura-dono! Rei-dono! I have discovered an ultra rare map from the Edo period under my table! How come I've never seen this before...? Well, whatever! Nakamura-dono, this is a treasure map!"
"Ehhhh?!" Even Eiji looks surprised at his friend's revelation.

"Indeed! It says this hill used to be a fort by one of the great generals, and that only three brave explorers should be able to find it!"
"...That's quite a specific number..."
"Do not doubt the treasure map, Nakamura-dono! It must be a treasure that could only be found through the power of friendship!"

He stands up from his seat and grabs the wrists of Tezuka and Nakamura.
"Let us make haste! Who knows how many copies of this map exists out there? They could be looking to steal -our- treasure under our noses at this very moment! Guwooooooh!"

With a strange battle cry, Tokomichi exits the room with Eiji and Tezuka in tow.
But before they disappear through the doorway,
Tezuka Rei glances at you.

At that point you understood. This is Kobayashi's scheme to not involve those three. She was the one that planted the map, knowing that Tokomichi will drag both of them into some silly goose chase. So they'll be going off into some silly spin off plot...
While the real thing occurs here.

You feel people coming closer. You glance at Hanazawa.
"Yamada-kun? What's going on?"

Speaking of Yakuza music, we need to remember that fuck everything, under this situation, we NEED to fight like that.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is off the table. Everything is a weapon- including the fucking table. We spit, we claw, we nutshot, we bite, whatever keeps us fucking breathing regular, because these people are insane and want to do serious bodily harm to us.
>>
>>2214072

The only issue I see is the repercussions we're going to get from this fight. Even if it was in self-defense, the entire Collective is just going to say that we started the fight. They'll fuck us over no matter what.

"Remember yesterday? There seems to be some sort of misunderstanding. Someone made it to look like I beat Yukio up."
"What? But Yukio already told me--"
"Yeah." You sigh. "But who will believe the ass-kisser, right?"
"They'll listen to Yukio!"
You smile. You know full well that the only reason he said everything yesterday was for his big sis. No way will he speak out for you.

"Nevermind that. For now, I need you to--"
The door slides open.

Too late.

A couple of girls approach Hanazawa.
"Hanazawa-chan, stay over here..."
"Mayumi-chan, over here, over here..."

They pull Hanazawa away from you. She looks baffled.

From the door enters three upperclassmen. They sport uniforms with chains on their belts, and hair dyed bright colors. Delinquents.

They walk to where you are, and stare down at you. They're even bigger than Yukio.
"You know," the guy in front of you starts. His breath stinks of cigarettes. "Upperclassmen beating their kouhais? I find that thing despicable."

He then lets fly a hook.
You try to dodge, but the two other upperclassmen hold you by the arms.
"Gh--!"

"No!" You hear Hanazawa shout out.

You spit, blood forming in your mouth from a split lip.
"Stop it!" Hanazawa's screaming. She's hysterical.

"Can someone shut that bitch up?!" Shouts the guy who punched you. The girls clamor, trying to cover her mouth and pull her away.

Your dad has trained you to fight bigger oponnents. But against a group...

You try to struggle. You flail, kicking your table and chair away. But the two senpais have an iron grip on your arms. And the main guy is too far away for you to even hit.

"Get him out of here," he says. "Teacher's on our side, but we need to be quick."

You get dragged out of the classroom.

"Geh--!"

They throw you against a wall in the back of the school. The three of them stand in front of you, cracking their knuckles. One of them goes over and picks something from the corner of the wall. Iron pipes.

You stand up, using the wall to assist you, and go to a stance. You're not going to go down without a fight.

"Don't bother, Yamada." A voice calls out to you. A girl's.

The three of them split apart to reveal Nakahara Fumi, standing there.

"What did you do this time, city shit?" She says, grinning.
"Nakahara..."
"Y'know, they paid me really nicely to make your face unrecognizable for a bit. And a little extra for a limp leg."
You smile, despite everything. "I don't suppose you could call it off? Or a one vs one, for old time's sake?"

She smiles too while swinging her nailed bat. "No can do. Business is business. Unless you got cash on hand?"
"I'm actually broke."
"Too bad."

The three guys pass each other the pipes. Nakahara approaches you, bat ready.
"You ready?"
"...Yeah."
She grins, and laughs. "Really? Ha! That's too bad."

And then she turns around and calls them off.

"Wha...?"

The three upperclassmen walk away, pipes in tow. As they turn the corner, they part...

And out comes Hanazawa, still looking a bit dazed, grasping at her phone.

Nakahara puts an arm around you and shakes her head.

"You got yourself a keeper, Yamada. Your girl's more loaded than a bank."

>>2214300
By all accounts, the teachers and faculty are under the collective's thumb, too. No one will listen. Gonna have to make some blood flow.
>>
Also, let's be frank about this- chances are we're going to get kicked out and probably fail the quest, but at this point I don't think it's worth it anymore. Everyone's insane and the rules of reality are so screwed up I'd rather have the sweet nothing of oblivion.

We have a job, and maybe this is a bit irrational but it feel kind of pathetic to ask for a hand out from her, especially since she just saved us.
>>
We need to leave a spy camera around or something so we know whos fucking with us and we can deal and punish them after school.
Do that enough and the fucks will stop eventually.
Ambush and strike without mercy like they tried with these fucking wanabee mercs.
>>
>>2214329
Problem with that is they have freedom of movement we don't. Chances are as soon as they figure out or even suspect we're retaliating, they can LITERALLY just walk into the classroom, ask the teacher to turn away for a couple minutes, and put us in traction. They have DRASTICALLY more power than us, so we need to do something to shock them into pausing for a bit, then taking full advantage.
>>
>>2214327
This is literally a matter of survival; everything's fair game. Take every advantage we have.
>>
>>2214336
We need to find out who the leaders of the collective are and undermine them or get them going at each other instead of us, I presume it's most likely people at the top of the fanclubs so I'd prioritize them.
>>
Guys I think the clear answer is pretty.obviously not to continue escalating things. Getting a weapon is not a good idea.

Learning to fight would still be useful, but maybe something.more like learning how to block and redirect attacks without actually trying to deal damage back would be best.

If we just sit there and take it we'll go insane and get beaten down, but if we fight back we end up having to either take drastic action or end up getting ganged up on later. We need to be able to nullify attacks coming to us without actually threatening or counter attacking. Peaceful yet firm resistance should lower their rage, as they find attacking us pointless but aren't able to pull up any evidence of wrongdoing to rally everyone else into a rage.

We also gotta get info on all the main characters so that we'll know what might trigger a "becoming a background mob" route like the whole Manstealer Victim thing that nearly happened, otherwise it's dangerous to interact too much with another one of the harem members.
>>
>>2214334
I'm honestly down for finding out who ordered the hit on us and dealing with them ourselves. Might be hard to extract that info from Nakahara, but it might be worth a shot.
>>
That said, there's still another way out, I think. It'll still end with us 'losing' the quest, but again, I don't give a shit.

Come clean. To the harem, to Eiji, to everyone. We'll get erased, but fuck it at this point. This place is a madhouse anyway.
>>
>>2214342
She seems to respond well to money, we could probably use that when/if we get it to have her supply us with info.
>>
>>2214341
The problem is we aren't the ones escalating shite, the collective is, and they're gonna keep doing it unless we do something first. This defensive fighting BS just ain't gonna cut it.
>>
>>2214341
Before this situation, I'd have agreed with you, but it's very clear the collective is set in its opinion and ways. They'll just keep ramping things up until we break physically or mentally.
>>
We could visit the Club again and just take pictures of us kissing all the girls and spread that shit to the mobs like wildfire.
That'll shake something from the tree
>>
Dam all this rage is delicious. Also the only way to go now is going full keikkaku and dig dirt or create some dirt about the teachers and other classmates. We will become the school hidden evil. But instead in focusing i destroying the MC we will destroy the mob

I too am of a chaos mentality when it comes to games, and this is looking like we cannot go the anime route of "Im sorry pls forgive me, collective-kun"

The ONLY way I know of getting out of this is without "rocks fall, everyone dies" mode is sticking by the main harem, or Edgy himself.

Because as you can see, they wont do shit with any of them around.

I don't even know what's going on anymore. But going with chaos route: blow up the school when it's empty, can't go to school when school is blown up. 200iq right here ; ^)
>>
>>2214442
I vote chaos route. cause chaos blow up the collective chances dig dirt on teachers make us the shadow mind behind the school. Time to take over the collective.

nice quads tho.
>>
>>2214448
The worlds objective is to give the girls and the MC the good end. Taking over the collective would be a easier way to achieve that goal
>>
I'm REALLY against a chaos route, I'm still pretty firmly on the "we need to create as few waves as possible outsidr of just.living our lives. No fights, no rudeness or unfair play." Join the soccer team, try to make friends, get other.minor and Sub Characters we can rely on, maybe befriend our neighbor who is friends with Eiji. We aren't gonna win by trying to flip everything over, I feel that the same rules of the world that stopped us before when trying to just blurt out the class rep's feelings for Eiji will stop us there too, and our shady behavior will only bite us in the butt. We need to go full on order route. Endure until we win over enough people and enough time passes for even the collective to chill out.

At the same time, we can't stop our goals towards helping the characters find happiness, as I feel that this collective isn't just a group of thugs butthurt about Eiji's harem, I think we're dealing with a [Collective], something that's trying to do all it can to disrupt the focus of the one entity that can mess up the status quo: Us.
>>
>>2214460
No, That's not happening.

As much as I'd love to vote for the full pacifist Leave me alone and let me do my own thing route we've been doing that and it didn't work. Chaos route might be too much but we need to deal with the collective One Way or The Other.
>>
>>2214457
That's not the world's objective, that's our objective.

I think the world's goal was to let Eiji live his harem anime fantasy life, but I don't think the world itself wants an ending, hence why things were static for so long, and why our brother is putting pressure on us for being able to change it.
>>
>>2214460
Not happening. Time to take actio no more mister nice guy.The colective is most likely what is putting the man eater nickname in the pres reputation. They need to fall to make her happy.
>>
>>2214460
I think the fact of the matter is no matter what we do there is inevitably going to be someone or something trying to stop us from just being us, and quite frankly this bullshit pacifist isn't going to work.
It didn't work before, it ain't workin now, it won't work later.
Instead we gotta make change ourselves, cause noone else is gonna do it for us, at least not in a way that benefits us for sure.
>>
>>2214466
And the best way to make our goal to be reacheble is by taking the collectivy. Or are you saying it wouldn't be easier to reach the True end with us puppetering the mobs?
>>
>>2214471
Except Hanazawa. She already did much to us then anyone else in this world.

Also now that she knows about the bully and she stoped our ass from being kicked she just became a target to.
>>
>>2214477
We still had to reach out to her in the beginning, so my point still stands, we gotta do stuff and not just pacifist stuff.

We dont have that kind of time, and I dont have that kind of patience.
Plus, now mayumi is gonna get targeted.

We should have been beaten to a pulp. We should be in hospital right now, rushed in by ambulance and with a 20-gauge IV stuck in our arm, an intubation tube down our throat, and a catheter stuck down our urethra. We should be half-dead; yet here we are.

Something else outside this universe intervened on our behalf. Not like DM Fiat; I'm not looking at it like that. There's some in-universe meta guiding force that seems to give us their favor, and is changing events to allow us to persist. To what end, though? Too many questions, not enough answers.

In more immediate terms, however, this must be a hard lesson to learn that we need to polish up on self-defense. I wouldn't say we should carry a knife (though to be truthful it doesn't hurt to sling around a Buck 110 or a Douk-Douk or another folder in our pocket), but maybe learn a martial arts club or something. Get fit, carry a roll of coins in our pocket--we gotta be prepared for whenever these motherfuckers wanna throw hands with us.

We can't roll hard on these motherfuckers on our lonesome. Unless you wanna genre shift this harem anime into some shonen territory hard way, we're gonna need allies. That being said, we need Nakahara on our side--her being a hired gun makes her more a liability than an asset currently.

Many hands make light work--and for our task we're gonna need quite a few pairs of hands if we wish to effect any kind of change.
>>

His ass is definitely involved, even if he stood by and did nothing, he's the reason we're here in the first place.

As far as I'm concerned he's on the shitlist but in an area where he can't be touched atm. AND you can bet he won't let us live down the fact that Mayumi had to pay money to save us, even though he put us in that spot in the first place.

A martial arts club comes to mind, though one has yet to show its head around the campus. Otherwise as it stands there isn't exactly much of a cast to expound upon or build social links with. Carrying a weapon won't do much good. It's useless against ambushes, useless in fights vs several opponents at once, and most importantly it allows the attacker a good excuse in any outcome. After all, everyone will testify that we attacked first, weapon in hand - the delinquent was only defending himself.

I really don't think Kobayashi should be in our shitlist since she's still probably doing what she can to help us. There isn't any evidence she betrayed us. Yukio may be an asshole but as far as we know he's not directly working for the collective and he just wants to protect his sister.

We can't be distracted by petty grudges when we don't even know or have proof either of those people sent the thugs after us. We need to identify key leaders and shot callers like one Anon said and deal with them.
>>
>>2214600
Is the alternative better? At least with the weapon we might be able to make it out with a recognizable face. If we keep getting put into these situations with nothing but bare knuckles we’re gonna be paying some damn expensive hospital bills.

The key in carrying a weapon is reading a situation and responding as the situation evolves. Something that is taught in most self-defense classes is, if you are carrying a weapon, going for it at first provocation is never the right choice. De-escalate if you can, read the situation carefully but decisively.

Ultimately, if you need to draw your weapon, commit to it and go for the vital areas--the knees are good to go for when it coems to blunt object strikes, the inner arm, inner thigh, throat, or between the ribs with a knife, or center-mass if you have a gun. Your objective at that point is not ending the fight right, it is ending the fight *now*.
>>
Wait a minute. Why did Kobayashi get Eiji out of the classroom? He was surely in no danger from the Collective, and his presence would have probably stopped them from attacking.
Something's not right here.
>>
>>2214604 It is. This isn't America where armed self-defence is part of national identity and individualism reigns supreme. It's japanese school, where mob mentality is multiplied by teacher's silent approval. The only way to keep our face safe, both literally and figuratively, is gathering what little allies we have into a mob of our own. Here, the only strength is strength in numbers.
>>
>>2214626
Ojou aint meta so she doesn't know that it would stop the attack, plus it might make it worse on us on the side if Eiji tries to intervene

Another option we can take through what we face is to smile and ask for more. More of an attitude towards the Collective than a solution to be rid of them forever, but there's always the possibility of sending them mixed messages or perhaps lessening the intensity of future blows out of confusion from our declaration of desiring their torment.

But that runs the immediate risk of them somehow making it much, MUCH worse than what it already is now because we quite literally asked for it. Didn't say it was a good idea in the slightest, but it's one none the less.

I don't think it would be in character, for us or for the setting. Even if it's an option, it's one I'd rather not have us take.
Carrying a weapon for self-defense that can give us plausible deniability, like a decent pen or something along with TRAINING seems to be the best course of action right now. Long game is to become the one thing the mob fears but not hates. Machiavelli said it's better to be feared than loved, but it is better above all to avoid being hated, or some shit like that. Going stealth/chaos route is best.

You guys are thinking way too directly, physical weapons are easy to trace back.
There's a simple recipe, chlorine + ammonia(don't do this at home), to make chlorine gas. Prolonged exposure leads to death, the good stuff.
So, what can we do with a nice cup of war crimes? Frame some little shits. Steal some collective asswipe's journal, copy down their handwriting to some mysterious note left by the mixture and viola! Something big enough to get the target off our back for a bit.
All we need is the aforementioned cleaning agents, rubber gloves and someone's notebook, plus a knowledge of cameras in the area we want to plant it.
>>
>>2214990
Anon, we will be the foremost suspect. Especially because we would have to miss the school at that day. And make Hanazawa miss it. And Eiji, and the harem.

Instead of that, I think we might be able to redirect the Collective's attention by planting the rumor (through Murakami) that Yukio framed us because he has forbidden hots after his sister. This is scandalous enough to really make the rumor mill turn, and much more interesting than some ass-kisser.

An unappealing option, but the problems with that are mainly of accessibility to firearms. Japan's gun laws are some of the strictest in the world, requiring lots of fees, background checks, references, and licensure. Once all that's out of the way, the only things really accessible are, really, shotguns and maybe some rifles.

That all being said, on the off-chance there's a gun-runner in Backwater Podunk Town #0166849, I'd suggest getting a Mossberg 500 or a Remington 870, a couple loads of buckshot and slugs, and just storing that shit until things get really bad. Of course cost is another hurdle in and of itself; those two shotgun models listed, though relatively inexpensive and considered the most bread and butter, rock solid options for any American, would probably have a ridiculous price hike due to importing and general risk.
>>
So genuine question here, why are we still even helping the harem at all now?

I see a lot of people here saying that Yukio is on their shit list because he probably arranged everything so why are we helping the harem, who not only know about everything that is happening but are apparently fine with letting people get beaten until they're almost hospitalised as well as people getting extorted?

Honestly everyone in the harem is an awful person, probably barring Eiji if he really is just that dense. Even the class rep is included, because they just sit and let this happen because they're all cowards too scared of changing the status quo.

I'm not even going to be surprised if BSG actually reveals that this is Hell at this point, the only reason we haven't just ended the harem at this point is because "bruh, you'll get a [BAD END]". Why the hell should we have to get our name literally dragged through shit and be beaten just to make a group of people who are cool with that happening happy?

Seriously, fuck the harem, just end it and stop anyone else from getting treated like us, because they've all implied it's happened before and what happened?

Nothing, everyone's still stuck in a stalemate.
>>
>>2215791
>So genuine question here, why are we still even helping the harem at all now?
[Good End]
>>
>>2216297
Again, why are we looking to give them a [GOOD END] now?

I could get it before when it was just "tsundere/kuudere/childhoodfriend etc that has trouble confessing their feelings due to maybe being hurt" but now it's "tsundere/kuudere/childhoodfriend etc that has trouble confessing their feelings due to maybe being hurt so they maintain a stalemate that causes anyone who attempts to break it either accidentally or on THEIR OWN SUGGESTIONS to be horribly beaten and ostracised from their peers while they sit back and do nothing".

Why would we help people who are fine with letting others suffer if it gets them want they want? Why are we fine with being this universe's whipping boy?
>>
>>2216332
Agreed. We can’t be a puncing bag because other people dont want to commit and follow through.
>>
>>2216332
I think you're misunderstanding. The Collective is after us not because we're attempting to break the stalemate, but because they're jealous of us getting close to the harem.
According to the explanation we were given, they all are lusting after the haremettes, but Eiji is just to likeable to be treated like shit. Anyone else though is in danger.
At least this is how I understood it.
>>
Fuck's sake, QM
Could you let us solve one issue, JUST ONE, before you throw another thing into our fuckin' lap?
>>
>>2217842
That's the [Protagonist]'s right, and we're just a [Mob] at best.
>>
>>2217994
What if we get the [Protagonist] to help us? That's what they do.
>>
>>2218034
The problem is that it's very hard to get Eiji to help us without much issue or things going bad really fast.

If we ask him, it's almost guaranteed that he's going to attempt to help, but that's only if we get the chance to. As >>2214636 said, the only people who knows that Eiji is a [Protagonist] is you and your brother.

What does this mean for us? It means that Eiji's harem, and probably all the other people close to him, will do their utmost best from getting him involved in our shit. I mean, would you let your friend/crush go into a situation where he might get severely hurt or even mutilated if you had the chance to prevent that from happening? Ojou did exactly that just earlier in the thread. That's issue #1: people are going to do their damn best from letting Eiji in on this whole situation.

Next, just what can Eiji do? A whole fucking lot, seeing as he's subconsciously God. What WILL Eiji do? Probably some kind of power of friendship or let's all get along BS, anything to keep the status quo because status quo is the cornerstone of most harem stories. And you know what's really shitty about status quo? This can happen all over again. If we do get Eiji on our side, it's going to take a lot of effort not to make things backfire at us. That's issue #2.

#3: Aftermath. After all of this is said and done, if for some reason we managed not get Eiji to maintain status quo, what then? Eiji's perfect world isn't really perfect, and we just shoved that shit right up God's nose. This might lead to the [Good End] or [True End], maybe, but then again, it might just lead straight into [Bad End]. We don't know what to expect, because apparently, everyone has a hidden dark side to them, even Eiji. The aftermath is a wildcard, a very dangerous one at that.

So to put it in summary, we're kinda screwed before, during, and after Eiji helping us out.
>>
>>2218046
What we can do to guarantee that Eiji solves our problem is to make it the culmination of his harem arc. This will make the results of his actions benefical and pemanent.
So basically, we need to make our problems Hikaru's problems then get Eiji to help her.
>>
>>2218051
>culmination of his harem arc
That's basically endgame right there, and something tells me we're a ways off from that. Also, the only haremette we've been any major contact with is Ryou, and face it, that's not enough to lead to the culmination of the harem arc.

To do that, we need to come in contact and interact with the other members of the harem, but I don't see that happening in our current situation, seeing as all of them are on vacation via Ojou Express. Maybe in the future, but we need to solve this Collective BS now, or at least make it manageable enough to move forward with our other goals.

In the first place, bringing Eiji into this will only make the Collective back off, or make everything really complicated really fast. Even if there's a possibility that maybe Eiji tells them to cut this shit out and they do... what makes you think that can happen?

We can't guarantee anything, because we know jack shit.

We need information, and we are trying to gather it, but even now, we're still groping around blindly and we keep getting into deeper and deeper shit. Every time we think we're making headway, something always fucking comes up, but at this point, the only one who can get us out of this situation is ourselves, and our allies, which I wouldn't count Eiji being one.

At best, Eiji would be an asset we can't control. Remember, he's the one who's the [Protagonist], we're just a [Mob], albeit with the advantage of also being a [Meta] character. He's the mover of this place, not us.

Eiji is a wildcard, not a trump card, I can't stress this enough. He can just as easily get in our way as much as he can help us.

>inb4 new topic

I just read an earlier thread, the one where we have a conversation with Mariko about getting allies, and she says this:

>“Listen. What you need is someone with status. Someone with say. Someone who ranks high in society, someone whose opinion is listened to. And you need that someone to have a good opinion of you.”

We reply,

>“...Where in the world would I find someone like that…”

Then the very next post opens with,

>You return to the classroom just as the bell rings. As you slide open the door, you find Hanazawa who is just arriving as well.

This might just be me grasping at the straws but, eh might as well bring it up.

Nakahara disappears for a moment, and comes back with a plastic bag. She throws it to you. When you look inside, you see multiple pieces of bandages and gauze.

"Nakahara-san," Hanazawa approaches her, face grim. "This wasn't part of the deal."
"What isn't?" She motions for you to sit down on the floor. You follow.
"I thought I made it clear that Yamada-kun shouldn't be hurt."
"Look, if you want some sort of refund or something--"
"It's not about the money, Nakahara-san."
"I got that. But imagine my position too, Hana-chi."

Hana-chi?

"My client paid good money to see him hurt. With that many witnesses, it can't be helped. Understand my position as well. If he sees little Yama-chan unhurt, then that'll be more trouble for him."

Hanazawa says nothing. Nakahara, on the other hand, crouches down and starts digging through the plastic bag.
"Make sure you're limping with your right leg for a few days. C'mere."

She places a gauze over one of your eyes. Nakahara starts to reach for the petroleum jelly.
"I'll treat the lip myself, Nakahara-san."
Hanazawa stops herself before she could open the jar. She looks a bit surprised, but in the end, screws it back, chuckling.

"You both are too cute."

Nakahara stands up and throws the plastic bag to you.
"Hana-chi, go back to the classroom. You shouldn't be gone for too long."
"But--"
"If you're gone too long, you're going to be linked with all this."
Hanazawa hesitates for a moment.

"You could visit him anytime later, alright? Don't worry, he's safe for today. There won't be a guy safer in Yumegawa today than this fucker," she says while ruffling your hair.
"...Alright."

She nods. She then turns around and leaves.

"Wait 3 minutes then head to the infirmary, Yama-chan." She also heads out, toward the school gates.
"Where are you going?"
"Home. I'm suspended you know?"

But before she disappears, she turns around, smirking.
"It's fucked up, this whole thing. The way they're going after you, you might as well have burned down something."
"...Yeah."
"But what's new, right? The world has always been fucked up. It's cruel and unjust to the most random of people."

She faces you, and slowly, an evil grin forms.

"Why don't you join me, Yamada-san? Let's fight the collective together. Together, we could do a lot of great things. Think about it."

And with that, she's gone.

You head to the infirmary.
You didn't even notice that you fell asleep. You wake up to the sounds of 8-bit noises.
You wonder why your vision seems to be awkward, until you remember that you still have gauze over one of your eyes. You reach out to remove it.

"Wouldn't do that, if I were you." You hear a voice from the edge of your bed.

You sit up from the bed to see Kei, hunched over, playing a video game.

"I'll be with you in a moment, Aniki, just gotta finish this level..."

"Kei...what should I do? It seems every move I make just gets me into deeper and deeper trouble. Not just for me, but for everyone else. What should I do?"

He doesn't immediately reply. The sound of pixel characters dying fill the room.

"Have you ever wondered where you really are Aniki? What this place is that you've been resurrected in?"
"It's a Harem RomCom world, right?"
"Indeed. But, have you ever wondered -why- you were ressurected in such a place? And as a [Mob]?"

You stay silent.

"I could promise you one thing, Aniki. You aren't in hell. All this will pass, sooner or later. You just gotta keep at it."
"That doesn't sound very reassuring."
"That's because it isn't."

He turns to you, smiling. "Cause you may not be in hell, but you aren't in heaven either. This place was designed, not for the happiness of everyone involved, but for one person only."
"...the main character."
"Correct. So why are you complaining? You shouldn't even be alive. This was part of the package when you accepted to grant the [Happiness] of everyone. You could be far better off, yes, but you also could be in a lot worse, you know?"

"So what you're saying is..."

"So if this is purgatory...how do I get to heaven?"
"Do you really have to ask? You already know, Aniki."

You nod. Indeed, it's what you've been doing for a while now. "[Happiness]."
"You were a sinful man in your past life, Aniki. But your sins are pardonable. Anyone can escape purgatory, as long as they work for their forgiveness. Each man's purgatory is different, and for yours, it's achieving the [Happiness] of the main characters."
"So are the other mobs in purgatory too?"

"Not necessarily. They're being is formed from the essence of human beings, yes, but none of them are serving time like you. This is your own personal purgatory. The quest to grant [Happiness] is yours alone."

You stay silent. "...What should I do then?"
"Acknowledge the suffering, but endure. Know that as long as you exist in Yumegawa, suffering will happen, whether it be the collective against you, or something else. But that's the price you have to pay if you want forgiveness. Endure, Aniki. It isn't easy, but nothing worth working for is, right?"

He stands up, and looks at you, smiling. "However, I'm not evil enough as to pigeonhole you into one set route."
"What do you mean?"
"Nakahara Fumi."

You pause at Kei dropping her name.
"She has a point you know? This world really is unfair. You could try fighting it, and become a pariah. Be feared. Cause chaos. Fight against the collective."

He laughs. "You hate making decisions without knowing all the cards right? Well, that's the purpose of my visit. Now it's your turn."

"What choice will you make?"

You hear the ringing of the bells. Lunch break.
After a few minutes, you hear the curtains slide open. You stand up to see who it is.

"...Hanazawa."

She closes the curtain once again. She pulls up a chair, and sits beside the bed.
"Yamada-kun. Are you doing ok?"
"...Yeah."

She reaches for the plastic bag and brings out the petroleum jelly.
"Sit up, Yamada-kun. Your split lip is still bleeding a bit."

You follow her instructions. You watch her as she applies medicine on to your wound.

Her eyes are filled with concern and worry. Under her black and pink eyeliner, you could make out her eyebags. She probably got the cash to pay out Nakahara by working late hours doing computer stuff.

And she used that hard-earned money to save you.

"I'm sorry," Hanazawa suddenly says.
"What for?"

A BSG quest is kind of like a Bethesda game. The options you pick will be what they seem like 20% of the time. You can pick something innocuous like "Alright, let's do it." And end up insulting the guy's mother because apparently you didn't read the unreadable mood of the text.

She smiles, and caresses your cheek. "There's no need for apologies. The same goes for me too, you know? I can't bear seeing you hurt. So...so..."

You start to see her eyes water. You pull her in, and embrace her.
"Hanazawa..."
"Ken-kun," she says in your chest. "Please don't do anything rash. They...they don't know what they're doing. I hate seeing them do this to you. It eats me up inside. But we could do it, you know? We could get through this. Once the class rep comes back...everything will be alright again, right?"

"I'll protect you, no matter what it takes." You brush a loose strand of hair from your forehead. "As long as we're together, we'll get through this." You smile to reassure her. "I love you."

She smiles, and kisses you.

The corner of your lips hurt for a bit. But the warmth and sweetness invading all your senses is enough for the pain to fade away, if only for a bit.

-------

Classes end. The teachers don't even say anything when they see the sorry state of your face, covered with gauze and plasters.

Your classmates avoid you, not looking at you nor saying anything. Hanazawa also says nothing, something you told her to do to avoid her getting into trouble.

You limp out of the classroom, when your phone rings. It's an unknown number. You pick it up.

"Hello?"
"Ken-kun." It's Ryou. "Please go to the rooftop once you're free."

She doesn't even wait for your reply. Guess you have to show up now.

You make your way to the rooftop. You open the door, and met with the sight of Ryou and Kobayashi Mariko.

They stare at you, stunned. This is the first time they've seen you, after all.

Ryou turns to Kobayashi. She is furious.

"I had no choice," Kobayashi says. "I had to get Eiji-kun out or who knows what could've happened?"
"So you left him to be beaten up?!"
"Be reasonable, class rep. There's only so much I could do to protect Yamada-kun. I'm already putting my name on the line vouching for him in my class!"
"So you didn't even bother trying to help Ken-kun?!"

Ryou still looks furious, but in the end she backs away from Kobayashi. "You're right. This is getting absurd now."
"To be honest, class rep," Kobayashi adds, with brows furrowed. "I'm afraid this is nothing new."

Ryou folds her arms and starts thinking. "I expected better from 2-1. I didn't know me being suspended was going to lead to this."
"Things are no better in my class as well." Kobayashi adds.
"And the teachers are in on this," You say.

They both look a bit surprised, but Kobayashi shakes her head.
"It's not that they're on the collective's side, per se. It's just that they won't take yours either."
"So in the end..."
Kobayashi shrugs. "No help there." She turns to you. "Have you found a person with say, yet?"
You shake your head. You've met no one that matched those parameters. Ogai-san seems pretty influential, but you doubt the collective will believe a laid back guy's words.

Ryou looks at you. "Do you have any ideas, Ken-kun?"

You look back.

Nakamura Eiji is standing there, frowning.

He hasn't returned to the classroom ever since he and Tokomichi went into a treasure hunt. He looks you up and down, eyes filled with sadness.

Maybe the MC is another soul boundex to go to hell once the harem ends. That's why bro want us to reach the end so he can collect the main cast souls to hell.

And we as the devil's minion would receive the proposition to go to 'heaven' by creating another purgatory illusion such as this we are living.

And it would make sense with our bro wanting it to reach a true end. Because as our character said before not always the true end is the happyest end.

But I must ask why. If the universe is entirely gravitating toward this teenaged idiot's desire for [Happiness], why would he conspire to want us as close to dead as a Japanese Cold? Is he that desperate to maintain this Bitch Cold War until the end of the series?

More importantly: What the hell is going on in realspace that is forcing this plot through twist after twist? Has the writing department devolved into a tribal battleground? Have all the animators run off and the key frames have to be shipped off to South Korea with badly pencilled in notes in the dead space between frames? I dont think he'll push us into that. I think its far more likely that lots of anons are going to vote for that action that lead to that.
