The Dawn College a recent introduction of it's kind and a risky one, with the aid of several minor city states, it has been created in order to provide the education of being a hunter to all who are willing to apply. Taking only locale fame the college and being disregarded by the news in favor of celebrity rumors and whatever incident a politician has created. The Dawn College has remained somewhat unknown to the masses but still even with its somewhat secrecy it has managed to attract quite a wide variety of students, from the old and crippled to the naive and poor holding true to its promise. Whether you may be running from the law, a refugee asylum from a recent disaster, to volatile to be any of the combat school's within remnant, an otaku that has gathered the courage to take the training, a guard willing to devote themselves the education or simply being too or weak to even be any other place. The Dawn College is more than welcome to provide the basics of training to all who are to its gates. Although with deadlines closing and construction still being underway the headmaster has announced that "any who have enough mettle and bravery to travel to us in search of a education will be rewarded with it with all of its riches and glory."
You are one of the many students that have wandered your way to the college, whether be it by aircraft, wagon, or on foot it does not matter. What does matter however, is that you have arrived and you seek an education.

Finally arriving at the college, things are...More than a little underwhelming, the castle is clearly showing signs of decay and whatever welcoming committee you have heard rumors of turned out to be greatly exaggerated. Instead a lone man dressed in worn plate and clumsily wielding clipboard and pen will be counting as your welcoming committee. Once you get close to him he finally snaps out of whatever daze he seems to be having before straightening his Armour for a moment before bowing to you for a moment and speaking.

"Ah, welcome to the Dawn College, I suppose I will be counting as your welcoming committee. The name is Tholas, now who might you be?"

>Introduce who you are, and whatever you may hold. Remember that you are not truly combat trained, you can be anything from a guard to a bandit or even a farmer. But you are nowhere near the skill that many prospective students that go into Atlas or Beacon. Instead you are you, a civilian to the eyes of a hunter and a liability to those that are scarred veterans.

(Welcome to my quest 'The Dawn College', I will be your QM for this quest I suppose. To begin with, this story will be using the setting that is used in the Rooster Teeth show known as RWBY although with a few changes. 1. This story will take place far far behind in the timeline and away from the events of volume 1 and may not feature many of the main characters that you have seen in the show. Most likely if it helps, think of it being similar to the universe of remnant but without the show taking place yet I suppose. I hope to be able to provide a entertaining story.)

"The names Marshal,Marshal Browning." You announce to the 'gatekeeper' as he begins flipping through pages in the clipboard while muttering about paperwork before finally arriving at a page as he scans through the shit before sighing and lifting up his visor revealing a joyous face carrying a white beard.
"Thanks lad, here take this little piece of paper and fill it with your name, occupation, next of kin how old you are and i'm sure you can guess. Once you fill it head to the square along with the others, the headmaster should be giving a speech soon...Once the bloody man get's his ego together." He says chuckling to himself as he hands you a form and flips back to his orginal page. You notice him scanning through the document muttering to himself instructions before he snaps his fingers and gives you a friendly look.
"If you need help with writing or need someone to read it to you. Their should be a scribe in the square, look for the man most likely surrounded by farmers and you know what. And don't worry if your a faunas or what have you, this is a safe place and i'm sure theirs more than a few runaway miners around here in case you need company. The square should be that way" He says giving you a wink and pointing in a direction before closing his visor and resuming his original position.
Looking further into the castle you see a arrow labeled with the word 'square' aligning with the direction Tholas gave you. Along with you can see a few signs labeled, armory, dust storage, library, all leading into various directions in the castle.

>On filling the form: What is your age, gender and where do you hail/come from?

Taking a moment to scan through the sheet and applying a bit of your younger education to your use you fill the sheet with whatever is necessary. Giving your mark, the region from which you come from and a quick description of what your job was before you decided to come to the Dawn College. And any other miscllenious requirements that the form demands of you.
Looking at the signs for a moment, your curiosity for what arms and armor could be present at a facility such as this overcomes you as you resolve to at the very least take a peek at what could be stored in this facility along with the dust stores.
Adjusting your pack for a moment you take a moment to note the direction and proceed to the armory.
While on your way to the armory you catch a glimpse of the square in which a crowd is gathering before a very nervous scribe as he listens to a man decked in a blue tunic and patches of chain-mail talk to him while he scribbles down what you can assume to be the info needed on the form.

>-Moderate success.
You follow through the cobblestone steps for a while adjusting your pack every now and then as you begin to fantasize what could possibly be in a dedicated armory for something like this.
Could it hold modern firearms and medieval weapons all polished and oiled waiting for someone to just pick them up and use them in the noble defense of the grimm. Or maybe it will contain crates upon crates of specialized ammo and weapons along with armor jackets and suits to spare to anyone that has come to the college. Whatever it may be, your eyes sparkle with the wonder of a child as you cross the halls of college until you finally arrive and notice a drastic change from the castle.
Rather than the door being made of wood, it's instead made of a sleek and dark metal with a electronic lock. Most likely to keep out thieves and former bandits in case they try to nab from the armory. You think to yourself as you try the handle on the door before it swings open. It appears fate or luck has let you see what lies inside the armory....
Anything you could have dreamed was shattered and rebuilt into a new image, it's own paradise in a way. Line upon line of hybrid weaponry and modern firearms line the walls along with various types of personal armor. Looking around you notice that electronic devices are embedded into the counter displaying the info of any weapon you can imagine. And after a bit of fiddling with the screen a guide on how to personally build your own hybrid weapon.
Smiling to yourself you take in the atmosphere for a few minutes before you notice the noise of shuffling feet coming from the shop. Panicking you quickly run out of the armory and close the door as it locks with a click.
Now outside of the armory you decide on your next decision.

The incident still fresh on your mind of being caught most likely in a restricted area without permission starts to give you chills down your spine as you recall being punished to the man you were apprenticed to for playing with the weapons in the shop. And with a hurried skip to your steps you follow the signs reaching to the square.
When you do however it seems that it has grown much more noisier and active than before. People playing cards on the ground or on tables. Small groups of guards chatting among themselves as they discuss how the training will be and unlocking their Aura. And a poor sod or two trying to flirt with someone before quickly being taught the lesson of pain. Chuckling to yourself for a bit as you notice someone quickly being kicked in the groin when he made a obscene joke. You quickly find a empty chair and set your pack down next to it. While noticing the crowd around the scribe grown twofold and that various people have gone to asking at random to see if they can transcribe it for them.
A quick rummage through your pack quickly producing a canteen you sip water to yourself as you wait for the headmaster to arrive and make his speech before you were interrupted by someone.
"Sir, sir if you could just help me for a few minutes I would really appreciate it. See I can't write or read well like many of the others and well I was hoping that if you could read the questions to me like the others see?" He points towards a few Samaritans doing the same task as the scribe. "I would really appreciate it if you could at least spare a few minutes of your time..."
While he was asking his question you took a good look at him apart from the ordinary getup that many miners would have. You do notice a tail poking out from behind him...

>Do you want to help the faunus miner with the form? Yes or no?

"Of course, hand me the form and we can get started." You say to the miner as he cracks a smile handing you the form as you fish out a pen from your pocket as you set the form on your knee and begin transcribing for him.
"Name?" You say to him beginning the series of questions.
"Lloyd Fett"
"Where do you come from?"
"If I recall specifically mantle, or somewhere in the Solitas region. "
"Age?"
"I'm 26 years old." He replys taking a moment to wipe some of the rock-dust off his face which only seem to smear it across his face"
And the questions lead on and on asking questions such as whether they had a family. If they have participated in any illicit activities such as robbery, theft and whether they would trust the Dawn College with revealing the act's of any crimes they have committed for paperwork reasons and with a promise that they Dawn College will ensure the privacy of it's students to all. Floyd has done none other than committing childish burglary in his youth.
Why did he decide to travel the Dawn College in search of an education. He went to the college to gain some of the training so he can ply the trade in search of a better life. And if he was of noble background, which obviously he is not.
As you proceed through the sheet you notice that otherwise simply asking if they have participated 'illicit faunus gangs' most likely just to politely ask if anyone is former white fang. Which you doubt anyone would answer yes makes little to no mention of the faunas otherwise.
Regardless of the fact, the 'conversation' between you two remains curt and professional you would ask him a question and he would answer with a plain answer. After finally finish the last question of which was asking if he could keep any conversations about politics or recent controversies to a minimum which he said yes to. You hear a horn being heard throughout the square from the same man you greeted at the beginning.
>Continued and also OP is a slow writer that got distracted during writing this post.

"I present to you the headmaster of the Dawn College, Flint Isen." You hear Tholas announce to the square as he finishes a series of notes that grabs the attention of everyone in the square. And you notice a somewhat a tall figure approach from the gate onto the square...
Your not sure what you would have thought the headmaster would look like, maybe a wizened man or a sharp military veteran what you certainly you didn't expect was someone dressed in battle-worn plate and gear to be accounted as the headmaster. He looks more like a aged veteran than anything else, other than his seemingly tall height theirs nothing peculiar or interesting about him as you look as he approaches the square.
"Seem's the headmaster prefers 'grand entrances'." You hear Lloyd comment to himself as he stows away the form in his jacket pocket.
Regardless the headmaster simply walks towards the scribe, and once reaching him whispers something to him and with a sigh the scribe snaps his fingers and a pedestal appears beneath the headmasters feet elevating him to a position in which he can survey the crowd. And with a akward minute of him stowing away his shield he claps his hand and begins his speech.
"Gentlemen and well women" He nods towards a few of the females in the crowd. "Welcome my friends to the Dawn college, now I know what you may be thinking. Where is the fanfare for the headmaster? Why is there no press crew welcoming us, and why are we in a bleeding aged castle? Well I would tell you, you my friends have taken the first steps to becoming not only a hunter. But also have assured yourself whatever benefits that we could provide for your stay with us. Food, board and most importantly a education. The Dawn College as stated many many times will provide the necessities for it's students as long as they remain in the rules." You hear him as he glares to a would be pickpocket who now nervously tries to hide his hands away.
"I Promise to you that we will provide the means to your education and it is only with your help we can mold you into a hunter. But remember this, you have been given a chance, a opportunity to not only become one but also to learn and forget whatever shoddy past you originate from. Whether you be former white fang, pickpocket, bandit or what have you none of this matters. What does is that you have come to learn and that is what truly matters. Now, I will be your headmaster for this academy and like many other academy I expect you to fully stay within the means of a law abiding citizen. Remember your not some horomone driven teenager that has studied nothing but weapons their entire lives." He says pointing a figure towards the sky taking a moment to pause and adjust his posture.

"You are you, and you have learned and matured in your own ways. Now i'm sure life is not the greatest or kindest of teachers but it at least teaches you skills you may never have known before, it shows you how to act like a proper person. And most importantly it shows you both the ugly side of life and the kind side as well. I hope that whatever knowledge you have learned will be of use to you in the upcoming months and years. Now lastly I hope you enjoy your time us, and may you learn of how to be a hunter. Your first day will begin at tomorrow in eight be their and have your forms ready.....Oh and the Dorms have been locked, you can camp out in the square or maybe try to lock-pick your way into them either way the decision is yours. Welcome to the Dawn College, and please try to keep it in your pants...You know what i'm talking about." The man finishes as he leaps off from the pedestal and crashes to the floor his aura flaring for a moment to cushion the fall.
With that the scribe snaps his fingers and with a flash the pedestal disappears.
"Well you heard the headmaster, find a place to sleep try to get your forms filled out by someone or fill them out yourselves. Gear and official dorms will be tomorrow, oh and try not to get caught in the morning if you do try to pick your way into the dorms. I hear Thalos is very harsh with those who are caught in the act." The scribe says before continuing on with his duty.

>The headmaster has given his speech and for now the day is decided. Find somewhere for where you can camp out in the square or in the college. But where? Try to catch a snooze in the library or maybe try to catch a snooze in the halls or just do like many others and sleep in the square.

>96, alright...yeah thats a winner right there
With the headmasters speech done and most likely heading back to his office within the castle. You decide to camp the night in the square at the very least for and take the time to pull out a bedroll while lloyd simply puts his back against the wall and like a light-switch snoozes away.
You on the other hand take your time with your task watching as many others do something similar to what Lloyd does or head inside the castle for shelter. And you notice for a moment while you were working you notice the glint of forgotten metal shine for just a moment.
Stopping you investigate for just a moment and find a forgotten metal box on the ground, opening it you find a small set of assorted dust crystals. Wind, fire, air, and even one of ice all assorted and layed carefully into a foam matress for the crystals. Smiling to yourself about your lucky find you put it away in your pack and head to sleep.
You are woken by the sounds of someone fiddling with the strings on your pack. Acting quickly you pick up a stone on the ground and fling it at the figure. Your childhood moments of playing with stones and ball come back to mind as you nail the figure right on the head and they collapse on the ground with a quick groan.
"Mhmh?" Lloyd says as he wakes up to the sound of you knocking out someone with a stone.
When you do investigate the person who did you notice that it's a female more in their early 20's like you and for their clothing....Well to put it as a start their dressed more like the robes of you would see of dust users on video than anything else for a start. With a more than evident bump on the side of their skull.

"Would you mind getting Tholas or the scribe Lloyd? I would like to tell them of a potential thief." You ask him as you begin rummaging through your pack. Lloyd simply looks at the situation for a minute before acknowledging you with a nod and walking off to find one of the staff of the Dawn College.
Meanwhile you quickly fetch your canteen and sitting the woman upright you quickly try to shake her awake. She rouses for a moment murmuring something about her mother and it being to early to wake up before you open the stopper on your canteen and tip it upside down and let gravity do the rest.....It was super effective
"Pblbltlt, Asshole why did you do that for?" She exclaims as her costume is now soaked to the boat before you silence whatever she was going to say next by turning the temperature down as you begin to put on the same interrogation face your master would do to you when you were younger.
"Alright, i'll make this simple and clean, what did you want from my pack." You ask as you drag said pack towards you with your hand while keeping an eye on her.
"My dust you ass, I knew you took it from me!" She trys to say in a threatening voice which accounting for your background and well your annoyance from the situation does jack. You wonder to yourself, how did she find out you were the one that took it theirs like 200 other people in this castle. She must have a talent for finding out clues or maybe she had help. You think to yourself as you take out the dust case which she starts to eye as you open the case revealing the crystals still lined up according to element and safe.
"Well tough, you lost it and if you want it back you will have to talk to one of the staff. My friend should be getting finding him any minute now." You say closing said dust case in a single motion while she visibly flinches when you do before glaring at you and huffing to herself as you two wait for lloyd to return with you holding the dust case hostage for the moment from her.

>Failure coupled with that nat 2...This is gonna be a long wait....
Two hours...That's how long you and the supposed thief were waiting for lloyd while he was most likely tracking and asking for the location. Two hours of waiting with someone who more or less tried to steal something back from you in the dead of night. On the bright side you managed to fix that tear in your socks while you were waiting. What you didn't notice however was that while you were fixing your pesky socks the dust thief went off muttering something about finding a bathroom and changing into something that's less wet and bound to get her sick.
You were finally finishing the last few stitches on a tear in your tear when you heard a voice interrupt you.
"Your not that perceptive are you?" The dust thief said as you pricked yourself slightly started from here; you noticed she was now wearing a somewhat blue jacket along with well...Blue everything, icy blue eyes, and anything blue that you can imagine..Sighing to yourself and mentally face palming for not paying attention before patting your pack where thankfully you felt the shape of the dust case.
"When is your friend coming?" You heard her say as you stuffed your needle and thread in your pack.
"He should be coming....any minute." You said with doubt and exhaustion in your voice as you both observed the square for any sign of lloyd while you mentally debated dragging along the dust thief with you.
....Another 15 minutes or so passes while you play with your fingers and the dust thief on the other hand gives a final huff before turning towards you.
"The names Nila, Nila lazuli." She says giving you her hand.
"Marshal, marshal bro-" You say before you were interrupted by a borderline exhausted Lloyd with a tired and clearly annoyed Tholas behind him.
"Go-Got him, been running the entire time throughout the 'academy' just found him." Lloyd says clearly panting before he collapses against the stone wall, you consider giving him your canteen before you realize that you used it pouring water all over the thief's face.

"All right what seems to be the problem here, it's four in the morning. What could bloody be so important at this hour?" You hear tholas as he fiddled with his scroll.

>So...lloyd although taking nearly three hours found tholas and you now know the name of the thief, also you fixed your socks. What now?

Nila is dark blue in Sanskrit or dark blueish purple. And also lazuli is short for lapiz lazuli.

"Well then?" You hear Tholas as he finishes sending message before eyeing you while Nila does the same. With the two eyeing you a and Lloyd still to exhausted to help; you take the initiative and begin to weave a explanation. Using a mix of both honesty and a little bit of burning the rules you make a explanation that should hopefully
"Well sir, it began soon after the headmaster finished his speech on welcoming us to the school. See, me and my friend Lloyd." You gesture to Lloyd who wearily waves to the headmaster.
"Were simply setting up for the night when we found a small metal tin. When I investigated it I found well...this." You say taking out the dust case which Tholas eyes when you open the dust case revealing the crystals inside of it.
"Well after that we presumed that it was simply refuse from someone and I lay'd claim to it and began to sleep until the morning." You gesture to your bedroll, laid out on the floor and showing signs of your use during the night.
"I was interrupted by well her when i woke up to the sound of her attempting to steal from my pack. Which i swiftly and effectively refused by using force. After that we simply waited for your arrival to determine the situation." You say leaving out the part of you knocking her out with a stone and then more or less waterboarding her.
Tholas simply nods as he listens to your explanation before gesturing towards Nila.
"Well ma'am do you have any proof that the case is yours?" He says to Nila who reply's with. "Take out the case's matress below it there will be five cards a straight flush..." Her face brimming with confidence.
"Well lad, do what she says, if she's true then it's hers if not then it's yours. I'll hold the crystals while you take them out." Tholas proclaims as you pop open the case and one at a time take out the crystals before handing them to Tholas who handles them with care.
Finally taking out the case and popping open the case you sigh the dissapointment more than evident on your face. Guess she was telling the truth a straight flush hidden right below the mattress. Probably for cheating at poker or cards or whatever the case may be.
Tholas simply eyes the cards as you take them out and hold them towards Nila who accepts the case and the crystal's busy herself repacking the case. During which you notice Tholas begin to scratch his beard and you notice a grin come towards him as he speaks to Nila.
"Ms. Nila! While the case may be yours attempting to not only steal from a fellow student is not only against the rules even if the item in question may be yours. And i'm sure that set of cards is not meant for simply for showing off is it? Come we shall speak about this in my office...Privately." As he gestures to Nila who sullenly follows him before he shakes your hand apologizing about wasting your time with 'trivial matters'.

You notice as he walks away with Nila who follows him with a hunch posture to his office you spot a note card hidden in your sleeve which you dig out and begin to read.
"Your friend explained to me about the situation before we arrived, should you wish to delve into dust use. Hand this card to the man the man in the armory in the morning he should compensate you for your time.."-Tholas.
Below it you see a series of numbers probably meant to resemble some sort of code...
Finally reading it you notice that the sun is rising. And with a still exhausted Tholas, you both grimly look towards the sun signalling the end of yesterday and the beginning of today.
>You lost your recently acquired dust case to the rightful owner. But in return you got a card that promises to 'compensate you for your time. What now??? Try to catch some zzz's while you still can? Or simply wander around the school for a while? Or just straight time-skip to whatever event that the headmasters have planned later.

It was to late to try to catch and sleep and that pesky hole in your socks finally mended you decide on simply wandering around the courtyard until it was time for whatever event that the headmaster has decided for the current year of students. Taking your time you repack your backpack before waving goodbye to lloyd who simply waves back before setting himself againts a wall and going right back to sleep.
Securing your pack once more, you depart from the square and simply wander throughout the castle. Trying to enjoy any sights that you can see whether it be the empty halls of the Dawn college. Along the way you find a few things to enjoy whether it be seeing few of your fellow students engaging in idle activities. To simply any statues that you can find that aren't hidden and labeled as under construction. Other than that the castle is still a castle, you do manage to find the library when you were wandering though. Revealing more than a handful of students dozing away on its desks and carpeted floor.
Along with the usual rooms that you would expect in a academy such as this. Lecture halls, the dorms for the the students soon to be into teams but you do find something peculiar nearing the end of your journey. You do manage to find one the staff rooms with a small stained glass decoration near the side of it. The decoration is simply a man in a (celtic) tunic with a wolf headdress with a starry night sky as the background. Taking the time to read it, it says it notes of a man named Jaecar Zagen.

Jaecar Zagen: Goliath slayer and Wildling -Dedicated guard of the Dawn College

Finally with reading it you notice that quite a lot of time has passed and you head back to the square finding Lloyd still sleeping and just in time for whatever event that the headmaster has planned....

As 8 am arrives the square is suddenly flooded with prospective students all waiting for whatever the headmaster has planned. You have already prepared your pack hours ago before you event traveled simply walk with Lloyd to the center where the headmaster is standing on a similar podium as he did before. Along with Tholas and the scribe near him along with a transparent barrel of only what you can assume to be air dust along with a few enclosed crates.
When the final students manage to flood into the square the headmaster nods towards the scribe before speaking.
"I once more thank those of you who have managed to take your time for not only arriving here. But also for staying the night and not fleeing back to your lives." He says as he motions to the scribe who begins to open the canister of dust.
"Now if you may take out your forms we shall begin the process of enlisting into the school right now." He says as you along with the other 200 or so students take your forms out. A few minutes pass as the headmaster surveys the crowd of students before signalling to the scribe. Who in a single motion of his hands consumes a fifth of the dust inside as the forms simply fly out of your hands towards the scribe all gently landing in a neat pile.
"Is that all?" The headmaster says to the scribe who simply with the power of air dust flicks through the forms before nodding towards the headmaster.
"All right, now for the sake of issuing, you will be given your own personal scroll. Yes I know your all excited and all also the scroll will already have your name and etc..I know the wonders of technology. Also this will be your last chance to back out, on each scroll their will be a final acceptance button. Press it and you will be accepted as a student, if not you will be invalid and you can go home back to your lives." He says as Tholas with the aid of a crowbar pops open the crate revealing it filled with scrolls.
The scribe does the same trick as he did with your forms but only in reverse consuming a good portion of the air dust the scrolls simply fly to your hands with the same confirmation screen as before.
Without hesitation you along with Lloyd simply press the button and wait for further instructions as does many others. A few minutes pass by where Tholas fiddles with his scroll before giving a thumbs up to the headmaster who nods in return.
"All right, to those who haven't and you know who you are go home for all I care." As a few students flood out of the crowd and out the entrance back to their former lives.

"Great, now with that taken care of. I'm sure you have all managed to make a friend or two in your stay here while you were waiting. We have decided that we will give you a chance to keep that friend. Simply input their name and if they input your name back they will be gurenteed to be in your team for the following 4 years. You have 5 minutes to decide...Good luck." He says taking a seat on the podium as the crowd begins to burst into noise as groups of friends begin to argue. Lloyd meanwhile simply eyes you as he presents his scroll towards you.
"Well if you want, i can put your name and you can do the same. Its your decision either way." He says as the empty input screen waits.

>Wanna go it alone? Or would you like to guarantee Lloyd being on your team?

"Alright let's see what we can do here, hand me the scroll." You say as you quickly type his name onto the input field on yours while he hands you yours and you do the same but with your name.
"By the way, never caught your name." You hear lloyd say as he accepts his scroll back...You never did tell him your name, you think to yourself as you recheck his name on the input field.
"It's Marshal Browning." You say as you spot a group of what you can assume to be guards based on their clothing begin fighting.
"Thanks Marshal for the help, names Lloyd Fett, but you probably knew that already." He says as stuffs the scroll in his pocket while you two begin waiting.
Soon around 4 minutes or so you hear the headmaster announce that you have a minute or so as a warning.
A minute later and you hear a pinging noise echo throughout the crowd and your scroll as the headmaster begins to speak again.
"Well with that settled, you will all be matched into teams at nightfall. But for now everyone please head over to the armory, and we can start issuing equipment to everyone. And yes for those gun nuts in the crowd, this is your time to start fantasizing about customizing your weapon later." You hear the headmaster say as he begins muttering something before he hops off the podium.
"Well c'mon then, and try not to bunch up near the hybrids sure their wonderful but by the gods their hard to maintain." He says as he leads the excited crowd to the armory dragging both you and Lloyd in the swarm of excited students.

Once you arrive with the headmaster and Tholas leading the crowd you all arrive at the entrance the same disgruntled scribe is at the entrance. While your all waiting at the entrance the headmaster begins to go into another explanation. Explaining of how the armory itself is mostly fully automated able to distribute weapons, dust, and more without assistance of someone being on hand.
Although their is one, he warns to try not to bother him with questions about weapons and if unable to decide to simply go with a setup of a rifle, knife and armored vest. Although he should be more than welcome to help with questions on how to acquire dust or for personal orders on hybrid weapons.
Once the headmaster simply swipes his scroll over the electronic lock and opens it. Begins what could be mostly described as a stampede as a swarm of students begin attempting to squeeze themselves into the door. Any cry's for chivalry for women were ignored that day....
Once you do manage to find yourself the armory and without Lloyd you do notice that the armory is somewhat more neater than you previously saw it. The occasional empty rack that you have seen before is instead replaced with a fully stocked electronic one.
As you stand near the middle of the armory and take a good luck around you do notice that the armory itself is split into sections. A stair downward with the sign "melee weaponry", the ranged weaponry mostly being in the middle where you are currently at being swarmed by students. And the section for armor and miscellaneous are lying near the back mostly ignored by students so far. And with a more than annoyed bear faunus behind a counter as a crowd of students begin asking him question after question. The note card that you obtained from Tholas comes to mind as you take a second to look at him...

>Luckily with your little exploration into the armory yesterday. You can choose whichever section you would like to go first of your choosing before the students truly start to swarm the armory....Melee, Ranged, armor and misc, or maybe present that card of yours to the bear Faunus.

For those wondering, the electronic locks work like this, swipe your scroll over the lock and if you have been given the permissions it will open.

A piece of steel no matter the shape is just as dependable as a firearm or even more as they can be customized to your own desire. Especially as your previous occupation as a blacksmith you think to yourself as you reach the stairs and take them down where it leads down to a simple armory where it displays various types of weapons that you can think of.
Swords long or short, pikes with various types of tips, assorted spears, various throwing knives, axes as far as you can see and the rare rapier or great weapon. Taking another look you can also see a few assorted shields most likely meant for the prospective student that wanted to see if they can test their own mettle against a grimm. Along with warhammers, war pikes and maces....Currently their is only a small amount of students for now and their mostly dwelling around the swords and axes without really bothering with anything else. So you don't have to worry about someone taking your weapon of choice so suddenly...Now to decide.

>Prepare to decide, gonna wait for 3+ votes for this because this is a important decisions...Or if a 3/4 of a hour passes and it doesn't seem to be anymore votes....

>Rapier: Elegant and a sticker, usually used by nobility but you can make do with it...you can probably make fun of nobles with this you suppose...
>Spear: It's common, it's a poker and should be able to grant you range along with a desperate ranged weapon if the situation calls.
>Pikes: If a spear didn't have enough reach for you a pike should do more than enough. The only problem...Its long, as in very very long...If it wasn't obvious.
>Warhammer: Swing and smash bones with it...Simple enough in theory...
>Maces: A lighter version and somewhat smaller.
>War pike: Following the same principle as a warhammer/mace swing and you will create a gouge worthy of your strength.
>Axe: Simple enough, you've used hatchets for lumber when you were younger so you have some idea to use this already.
>Great weapon: It's huge, its weighty and most importantly it deals more than lethal enough blows. The only problem you will be using both of your hands and if you can lift it in the first place....Comes in both great-sword and great axe flavors...
>Swords: Katanas, short swords, long swords you get the idea...Slash away at the enemy and cleave!...
>Shields: You block and bash with it...Simple and effective, only problem is that it restricts you in case you need to quickly switch to your ranged weapon.
>Throwing knives: Throw them and watch them do their damage. Comes in simple throwing knives, tomahawks if you can bear the weight....No shuriken though, ost likely for good reason...

You eyes draw to the rack of swords as does everyone else as you think to decide on what you would want to be your melee weapon for the year. As you think you notice that the rack for them seems to be quickly depleting as student after student grabs them without thinking only to head back to the ranged stockpile.
The reason? Most likely due to the sword being a somewhat staple weapon of hunters, easily able to be modified and coming in many shapes and styles. Although now that you think about it, aren't swords praised to be the god amongst all weaponry? More bragged about how everything is inferior to it?
Flashbacks come to mind as you remember many a newbie or veteran hunter come to where you worked to brag about the benefits of having a sword. With a shudder you supress such memory's and decide on something else.
A few moments later and a quick scan of your scroll onto the electronic lock and you come out of the melee armory with a war pick strapped as best you can to your belt. Looking around more students seem to have entered the armory than before and have begun swarming the ranged section, the armory is still somewhat clean of students. And the bear faunas has finally had a moment of peace although most likely not for long though....
>Now what? Show the card you have acquired to him? Take the time to head to the ranged stockpile to pick a firearm? Or maybe head to the armor and misc to choose on your own personal protection? Time is running out and so will choices to.
>Also finally picked your melee weapon of your choice. A sturdy warpick, able to pierce skull and crack them as well...Just make sure it doesn't get stuck though.

As you flip the note card in your hand back and forth you remember of what Tholas said to you of presenting it to him. As you take a moment to secure the war-pick for one more time. Before walking over to the counter where the Bear faunus is taking a moment to organize a box.
"Sir, I was told to give you this." You say as you hand over the note card to the Bear faunas before he inspects it for a moment.
"Hmm, what you want?" He say's as he looks towards you while his eyes drift over to the card before swiftly snatching it from your hands and looking it over. A few minutes of him closely inspecting it before he finally shrugs and takes out his scroll and quickly scans the card before raising an eyebrow.
"Alright kid, Tholas apparently for some godly reason has decided to allow you to have dust provisions. No idea why though." He say's as he begins leans below the counter and produces a metal crate.
"Hand me your scroll, and we can get this process over with." He say's waving towards you as you obey him and hand him the scroll. A few minutes later with him playing with a computer he hands you the scroll back.
"Alright everything should be in order, you can access the dust storage on your own. Normally you would have me, Tholas, the scribe or wherever the guard is.." He say's scanning the armory for a minute before resuming. "But you at least have permission to access the dust storage on your own. You do have a provision limit though. The scroll will notify you as you take out crystals and jars. So don't worry." As he digs into the crate and hands you a small metal case similar to the one you found from Nila although smaller.
"Here, free of charge. Promise to at least do your training with a teammate or someone around..God's above how many students have blown themselves up while practicing..." He say's before he spots a student attempting to walk from the firearm storage with 5 diffrent firearms strapped to them.
"That's all for now. HEY PUT THAT DOWN YOU LITTLE!" As he begins yelling at the poor student who made the decision.

>Trading the card in you gained dust permissions. AKA: You can now start practicing Dust use on your own. It ain't a dust weapon but having access to dust and being able to practice should provide benefits...As long as you don't blow yourself up though...As of the moment you have the four basic elements, nothing more nothing less.

Waving goodbye to the armory who waves back while yelling at the poor student who decided to grab 5 weapons at once. Stuffing the dust case away you walk to the ranged section. It's similar as to when you saw it although any of the high tech weapons that you saw when you managed to see are gone. Although there is now a small crowd gathering around teh stockpile oogling at the selection. You think to yourself on what you would want while you join the crowd just for a moment. While also ignoring someone who decided to have the bright idea to also carry 5 firearms at once. You notice there is still a number of firearms both primary and sidearm left....The only problem is to think and decide.

>Forgive OP on most likely angering /k/....
>Machine pistol: The automatic handgun, you have seen it in film and TV and generally asked by hunters who want to try to dual wield them.
>Auto pistol: The standard firearm for many hunters or guards. You have done a few orders on them and have seen them many times. Simple, and easy to carry..
>Old war rifle: A far cry from the modern rifles which you have seen hunters brandish on occasion and on tv/film. It boasts of its ability to take punishment as you remember on occasion seeing shooting models of these even when it looks like they have been gnawed by a grimm.
>---Seem's someone has taken the Sniper rifles....
>DMR: The designated marksmen rifle, this one is somewhat ignored by hunters and favored by guards due to the benefits it can have for them. Seems there is still a few of them remaining.
>Double barreled: The proper shotgun, the double barreled fury, the sharp smart gun. The double barreled has helped both hunters and actual hunters in bagging grimm and game. To your luck it's able to interchange between sawed off and proper.
>Sub machine gun: One you don't see around hunters and more around guards or police. This gun is less meant for grimm and more for people although still being able to murder grimm if you place enough rounds down the range.
>Revolver: The six chamber, the type that one remenant. Whatever maker and model it may be, this is relible, somewhat cheap to acquire if your a civilian or guard. And able to murder a grimm if your able to handle the kick that is.
>LMG: For when you want to bring your inner hunter out....Or simply want to look like a action hero, deploy it somewhere and let it rip....
>Shotgun: The shotty a modern take on the double barreled shotgun that uses similar ammo. You have seen hunters and non hunters use it. Only problem is you may have problem with hurting people with it as the types seen seem more for grimm than people...
>.....Why is there a bow on the rack?
>Anything else seems to have been taken or seems to have developed the ability to hide from electronic sensors for some odd reason...Time to decide.

As you inspect the rack of firearms you think to yourself. A sidearm would be nice, although with the way you have seen hunters fight. Maybe something more, heavy duty should do the trick when it comes to slaying grimm. Plus a shotgun is easily modifible as most primary's come. Plus the option of having a few more types of ammo to use may come in handy later if the situation calls for it.
And so with a swipe of your scroll, the machine quickly vends you a guard issue shotgun. Nothing special compared to others, although the thing can take a heavy beating if you want it to. As you inspect the shotgun for a moment you notice the maker of it labels themselves as Knight-Lite.
Before you can decide on a sidearm for yourself you notice only what you can assume to be a bandit or militia depending on his attire begin to harass someone. Moments later and fists are flying...Luckily the fight seems to only involve fists so no one looks like they will be in danger due to not having an aura...
Taking the moment you quickly skitter across ranged stockpile to end up at the armor section.....

Armor, armor the lifeblood of a guard and the layer of padding a hunter has as the grimm get a lucky hit on them or they begin to get mauled. Armor whether it be made of a primitive design with modern materials or the more recent types of armor seen around. They do at least one thing they should do and that is protect the person in case of injury.
Taking a look through the armor selection you notice that some of the 'medieval' selection of armor seems to have been cleaned out from what you can tell but maybe if you look hard enough someone may have misplaced it. ..
Regardless it's time to choose one, for some reason you can spot where they leave the misc objects....Med-kits, grenades-none lethal thankfully, gas-masks, grapple guns and anything you can think of a hunter would need.

>Time to explain about armor meta wise.
Armor will be both a narrative defense and a roll defense. Someone scores a crit on you? With the right armor you can turn that crit into a simple injury. Someone backstabs you literally? You should survive with the right armor. It's all about choice so as with your weapons choose wisely. You will have a chance to change though so don't worry.

>Armor vest: Wear it under your jacket, or over your shirt. Thanks to modern technology you can easily hide it. Only problem it's about as protective as you can trust the plates inside of it. Although you can easily modify the plates inside to your liking. Maybe even somehow learn how to weave dust into it...

>Armor Jacket: A more protective version of a armor vest, using modern materials similar to a vest. A armor jacket is simply a lightweight solution for armor, it's able to block a bullet easily. Although you may have a problem with grimm and blades..With the same benefits; it being easily modifible it's a popular and somewhat fashionable choice.

>Full face helmet/: Available in both a modern and medieval version, the helmets here are plentiful. And there easily modifiable as they come, stuff a gas mask in it, rearrange the look into something more intimidating and reinforce the padding. Its protection for your noggin. No ballistic masks though...Probably for more than good reason..

>Armor suit: A modern version of full plate, it uses modern materials to try to remain sturdy and flexible enough to commit to hunter activities. Can make you survive being mauled by a beowulf or simply a sniper rifle without aura to the chest. Like the other modern armor solutions, it seems more equiped for grimm and bullets rather than melee....Also your sure that if you remain in this for more than a day or two you will feel miserable. You sure that with time you can have that special dust weave on it although it will be a doozy to handle.

>Continued...also decide anons while i write the medieval solutions to armor.

armor vest and a helmet maybe. We can always get the helmet later I just figure getting it and moding it will be useful.

Medieval solutions to armor.
>Full plate: Expensive to produce even with modern tools and training. You should know, you have helped in producing one. Full plate will allow you to literally without an aura be mauled by a beowulf with nothing but a pen knife and came out alive. Along with this, it boasts of excellent melee protection as do sheets of metal put into a humanoid form wrapped around you will. But even with modern materials and techniques it's as noisy as ever so no stealth will be expected of you.
>Half plate: Simply a version of full plate but only meant for the torso. No not just a simple upper chest protector and gauntlets. This is the real deal here, combining elements of chain-mail and full plate it covers your torso in metal entirely along with greaves if you want. Same elements as a full plate in terms of protection but for your torso.
>Chainmail: Ah chain mail, a light as medieval can get in terms of armor and protective form of armor. It covers your torso but with mail instead of plate. Less effective than plate, but less noisy and more towards a grimm attacking you or someone stabbing or slicing at you with a melee weapon.

>...There doesn't seem to be any evidence of breastplate
>>
>>2217107
You will have to roll to try to obtain these however....
>>
full plate.

If we need to stealth or go faster we can drop the plate and just continue with the chain mail.
>>
>>2217092
When you make your round around the armory, i will give you one last chance to head to the melee/ranged armory to change your weapon
And yes you can change your weapon/armor later. Although changing a weapon will be easy, finding a new outfit of armor will be a bit hard.

Being stabbed while unfortunate is at least something you can see and prepare yourself for. Plus if one is good why not have two layers of armor? With that thinking you scan around your scroll and the rack vends you a armor jacket and armor vest to your size while giving you the option of a helmet which you press yes.
A moment later you sling them your shoulder for now. The two armor outfits usually worn by themselves should provide you superior protection in case someone tries to shoot you in the torso. The helmet is a helmet, which you can choose to remove before a mission or just keep it around because of style. The rack which vends them seems to be near full so it's not like anyone is using them.
A quick trip to a nearby dressing room, and you come out dressed in the armor sans helmet looking like a hunter rather than someone that's simply carrying weapons for fun. You feel confident as you secure yours shotgun and war pick. Although the thought does come to you, what if you regret your choice as a weapon. There still seems to be some time left to re choose your weapon or you can head out and end your 'shopping spree'.

>Regret choosing your melee weapon? You can head back to the melee stockpile and choose again. Or maybe stick around the armor and misc to grab some general gear.
>Or you can take your choices and leave the armory for now.
>Armor desc: With a armor vest and armor jacket, small arms fire will feel like a poke even with your aura off when you get it. Grimm will also have a hard time trying to slash you to death when they hit your torso. And someone trying to cut you in two with a melee weapon will meet some resistance. No bash resistance though, so be careful around someone with a war hammer or mace.

Doing late night update....Apologies for my fuck up by causing the regret/confusion about the warpick And well not describing the weapons properly. I will make this action a freebie...Apologies once more

Maybe it would best to just take one last look through the melee stockpile just in case you have have a epiphany and decide something else. You think as you head over to the melee stockpile. Luckily although it has been looted there is still a few copy's of everything left. Taking a look around you spot a lone Combat knife on the ground most likely left by a ex-guard or maybe a 'adventurer'. As you pick it up and inspect it for a moment you notice it's in good condition suitable for utlity and also as a last ditch weapon. Wary of your encounter last time you check left and right before noticing a small rack of combat knives similar to yours. Sighing a breath of relief you store it in your jacket for safekeeping.
Adjusting you grip of your warpick in your hand, you take another look through the racks of armor and decide which one you want to use as a melee weapon.

>Gained Combat knife: A dagger and a knife, it's a reliable piece of gear among hunters. Utility and combat.

1 handed weapons:
>Rapier: A piercing weapon used mostly by nobles, it is usually seen both by nobles and by fencers across remnant. A dueling weapon which if used correctly could pierce a grimms eye easily.

>Spear: A common weapon, its a five foot poker with a steel tip at the end. One of the most common weapons in remnant.

>Battleaxe: Second to the spear, the axe is common for many.

>Swords: It's sharp, its heavy and most importantly it does its job. Cleave and slash away at your enemy! Comes in many, many styles, from a bastard sword to the long-sword, short-sword....Yes even the katana.

>Hand axe/hatchet: The hand axe or the hatchet one of the more older weapons in remnant. This weapon is meant for both military use and utlity use.

>Maces: Able to be wielded in one hand, simply swing and bash your enemy to death with it.

>Combat knives: Knives meant for both fighting and utility. The one you have should be more than enough for now. But maybe you want another one?

>Continued onto 2 handed weapons and "exotic".
>>
>>2217896
>swords or axes, either one's fine, really anything that's effective with just one hand and a decent reach.
>>
>>2217896
2 handed weapons. These weapons are meant to be the primarys of many hunters decked out in full plate or modern suits. Or maybe with the right agility you can play the game of a thousand cuts with it.

>Glaive: A somewhat exotic weapon used by hunters, size of a spear but meant for slashing rather than piercing. Effective if your nimble enough to use it and you have extensive training...
.
>War-hammer: A simple weapon with a simple theory. Smash and bash away at enemy's. Mean't for two handed wielding this comes with a brutal array of spikes to add extra hurt onto the enemy.

>War pick: Similiar to the size and shape of a war-hammer. One of the sides contains a pick instead of a flat surface. So you can interchange between both if you please.

>Greatsword: A giant sword meant for slashing and piercing, the styles may vary depending on where you come from although its effective to it's point.

>Greataxe: A gigantic axe normally you would see on the pictures of a screen of the noble wildling saving a glorious maiden while posing. With the right strength you can cleave easily through bone and flesh.
MISC: These do not fit in the two catogrys described, but are in the armory as of the moment.

>Cestus: Knucks, knuckle dusters regarded as the staple of brawling and wildling weaponry. Cestus simply add an extra oomph when you punch someone. The style that these come in are flexible enough that you can use your shotgun while having these on. Although you will need extensive training and physical conditioning to even think of using these to their full potential. And it raises the question of how would you block with these??

>Throwing knives: Muscle powered ranged weapons they come in a variety of styles, from sharpened spikes, to modern knives to even Shurikens if you feel like it. Nothing much to be said, a primary for some and a sidearm for many.

>Shields: A rarity among hunters, block the bite of a grimm and the slash of a blade and anything that you can imagine. Built with modern materials and seen as a heirloom for some. A shield can be a useful asset if you are able to reach it in time..Only problem, its very obvious. Comes in a variety of styles.

As you think to yourself your thoughts battle against each other as they see which can become the victor. A great war later and many innocent ideas slaughtered. The war-pick has managed to come through to see the end of the battle along with a ally, the hatchet.
You've used a hatchet when you were younger when you along with everyone else your age would take whatever tool lying around and play hunter. You swipe your scroll along the lock on the hatchet before it vends a pair of the weapons. A spare to throw or simply a clerical error, you personally don't care as you strap the hatchets to your lower leg. Should be safe enough there for now.

Taking a last look through the stockpile you notice that the place now resembles a junkyard more than anything else. Weapons and armor pieces scattered around the floor and the bear faunas dressing down another student. Looking at your scroll you notice your nearly out of time to get out before doors lock for the night. Quickly packing away your weapon you head out the armory to the square. Where you are greeted with the cold evening air blasting in your face. One last look through your scroll and theirs still a bit of time before you have to go back to your dorm to meet Lloyd and your new team for the next 4 years...

>What now? Theres still a bit of time remaining. You could try to look for the area where you can practice your weapons. Do a little custom maintance on your weapons and armor. Or simply decide to hit the lights early and head to your newly acquired 'home'.

Maybe you should head back to your dorm before curfew hits and Tholas is seen patrolling the castle grounds and whoever that guard you remember reading about. If the bear faunus was wary when he mentioned him, it was probably for good reason.
Plus a bit of extra sleep should do you good now that your geared up and briefed. The training to actually becoming one should be soon. Plus as a student you will soon unlock your Aura!
The thought makes you smiles as you daydream for a bit. Before snapping back to reality once you take a better look at your gear. It's stock, but with your previous occupation as a blacksmith your sure that with the right materials and with the time you can probably improve your weapon.
Or maybe if you can afford the Lien probably order better materials from a few from a supplier to have it delivered to you. It may be expensive, but better armor can mean all the difference....
Finally arriving at the common room for the first years you walk inside to notice that the staff has done there best to keep up with the theme. The common room seems to resemble a taverns common room while managing to keep modern amenities such as the wonder of air conditioning and electricity well hidden.
A few instructions from your scroll and you manage to find your teams room. You pace around your room nervous for a minute wondering if they will be accepting of you before you finally open the door. The first thing you notice is that lloyd who is more or less polishing a rapier while you notice another student trying to observe Lloyd polish the rapier while trying to keep away from someone...That someone turns out be a wildling who is currently passed out on a bed.
>Continued and also explanation of the Wildlings right after this.
>>
>>2220182>>2220140

OP what is a wildling? Well i shall explain it to you, and also remembered when I mentioned a few changes? This is one of them...
Ever played a fantasy game and noticed how there is usually an option to play a barbarian? The wildlings are a lot like that in theory. Simply they are villagers that have dedicated themselves in the defence of their village.
The wildlings are simply a frontier police, regional militia against grimm and white fang. And also general help for any villages that may need their assistance. They are people who are armed with nothing but a hatchet and hide armor and whatever weapons they can find to aid the minor faction. They compose of both faunas and humans from various villages so no racism yet.
What does this mean? It means that there is now a minor faction that has decided to devote themselves to the protection of rural villages. And they are somewhat effective at it, numerous attacks from the white fang and grimm have been fended off by them.
Although they have experienced their share of losses, most wildlings in the faction face a short life of moving from battle to battle while commonly looting from dead white fang and relying on gifts from villages for their work.
To sum it up, they are a frontier militia made up of villagers that are willing to charge a group of white fang armed with nothing more than a hatchet or whatever weapon they can find. They are a good faction that are the ritualistic militia to the white fangs militaristic army. The good people to the bad people...
Hopefully this helps a bit.

The tension between you and the wildling continues for about a good half minute before you notice that he's sleeping. Relieved you quickly claim the last unoccupied bed in the room as you observe Lloyd dressed in half plate continue to polish the rapier before he notices and speaks up.
"Oh it aint for me in case your wondering." He says as he finishes polish the rapier. "It's for her. noticed when I came in she already well, cut her hand on it. She says she's a student from one of those fancy colleges." He say's as he finishes polishing it and stores it away before handing to her which she accepts with a bandaged hand. "You know, those ones for people to become like a doctor or lawyer or whatever."
"Dunno who he is though, he was already sleeping by the time I got here." Lloyd say's while pointing to the sleeping wildling as he begins taking off pieces of his armor. "How was your trip to the armory, meet anyone or get anything special?"

>How do you reply...Yes this is a custom answer. So have fun RP'ing a line or two.

"How, how do you cut yourself on rapier?" You ask her as she carefully places the rapier next to her bed stool and sits up on her bed.
"Well, I was practicing with it before he came in." She points towards the wildling who is still sleeping. "When he opened the door I dropped it and well I tried to catch it...But.." She stops as she holds up her hand. "This happened, luckily your friend was around to help." She says as she stuffs a suitcase below her bed. You nod in response before turning back to Lloyd who has just managed to get his greaves undone. "Not much really, turns out that card was for dust privileges and now i have this." You say as you take out the dust case and show it to him.
"Plan to get some training with it when we get our Aura's unlocked. Oh, also they said whenever i want to practice, I should bring a friend along. Which i do plan to. whenever we get some downtime of course." As you finish packing away your pack and begin removing your armor.
Lloyd simply nods in response taking a look at your weapon before responsing. "A shotgun eh? Good choice, I knew a buddy who used to hunt with those. Reliable and dependable I managed to get myself one of these baby's" He says as he takes out what looks more like someone loved the idea of a cleaver and decided to make it into the idea of a great sword. "The thing's pretty heavy so watch yourself around it. Managed to snag a revolver, but thats about it for me." He say's as he presents to you the weapons before putting them away.
"Other than that, not much other than that, went around found the armor, found the weapons. Blah blah blah i'm sure you get it."
A while passes as you take the time to maintain your weapon before hitting the bunk officially.."You know, we should probably set up a few racks in here." Lloyd says as he begins storing his gear beneath his bed. "Woulden't be right to have them lying on the floor all the time." As he finishes storing his breastplate and helmet.
"Anyway, it's getting late as it is. I'm gonna head to sleep talk to her if you want." He says before getting into bed and going out like a light switch..

Might as well get to know one of your teammates while you still have a bit of time, you can spare a bit of sleep. As you hold out your hand towards your fellow student while announcing your name. "My names Marshal, mind telling me a bit about yourself?" As she hesitates before accepting the gesture.
"My names Abbey, Abbey Belia. I used to be a former college student but well, I heard of this place and well here I am." She says while shrugging. "First day here and I end up skewering my hand..Not the greatest of starts."
You nod in response, seeing your headmaster coupled with the fight that you nearly got dragged in. Along with the 'greeting party', was not the way you expected your first two days to go.
"Anyway neat armor." She says as she points to the armor you have hanging by your bed. "Personally picked up a set of chain and a vest for myself. Gotta look stylish while also being protective. Seriously there are so many huntresses th-" At this point she begins ranting about the stereotype of female huntresses wearing close to nothing to which you tune out as you look into your scroll and begin checking through for anything interesting..

Looking through your scroll for the first time you figure out the basics on how to use it. You've seen scroll models for civlians but have never really interacted with a scroll meant for hunters. On the bright side you managed to get at least the basics on how to use it and manage to pull up the map interface for a bit.
Taking a look you manage to spot the castle's bathroom along with a few other thankful amenities. The worry about taking a number 2 in a outhouse for the next 4 years are thankfully wiped away along with any worries about being lost navigating from classroom to classroom.
Other than that, you gain the location of the academies basic room that you would not have found unless you stumbled upon them. The academies clinic, along with the public workshop a much smaller facility than the armory you now know the location to. In addition you do manage to find the classrooms, but nothing as of yet for a practice hall or room. Guess you will have spare with the others outside the castle for now....
Other than that Abbey looks like she is nearing the end of her rant. Currently complaining of how modern huntresses wear nothing but a dress or gods forbid nothing but their underwear on and expect that to protect them. Nonetheless you notice that you should probably head to sleep for now.

>Learned the basic layout of the school in addition to where the student workshop, clinic, and the classrooms are. Guess you won't have an episode of running across the school being lost.

Sleep while coming easily to you with the lack of sleep from yesterday and the time it took to travel. Sleep comes to you easily, only to broken to soon by the sound of 4 collective scrolls blaring in your ear. Groggily and annoyed you slowly try to bury yourself in your blanket before your interrupted by your shotgun being thrown at you.
"Cmon then, we don't have all day to wait for you. Classes should start soon, apparently the year is going to get a combat demonstration between the staff. We're suppose to meet in one of the classrooms and wait for him." You hear Lloyd says already dressed in his armor. The wildling on the other hand is still wearing in the same hide armor you saw him wear from before although he now has a set of cestus...And he's carrying a LMG as if it were a backpack, well asides from that. Abbey is dressed in her armor and a annoyed expression.
Sheepish you quickly shrug on your armor and weapons before joining the others. Thoughts of breakfast wiped away from your mind by the promise of a combat demonstration. You join the others as your group head towards the classrooms with you taking lead. Luckily with your late night exploits you manage to find the classrooms easily tucked away with a few more identical rooms your group taking the seats of where you choose you wait for the other first years to flood in.
15 minutes or so later of waiting, eventually the classrooms seats begin to fill with the other first years with the headmaster and a man looking identical to the glass window you found standing next to him and a more than annoyed Tholas.
"Welcome my friends to your third day." As the headmaster begin's. "Today we shall show you a basic demo of a combat between two huntsman. Tholas and the castles wonderful guard will be fighting against each other without any use of dust or semblances whatsoever. Just to give you a taste of what fully trained hunters are capable of." The headmaster says while pointing towards Tholas.
"HIT IT!" And with that Tholas pulls a switch which quickly rearranges the room into a arena, the carpeted floor is quickly shifted out for the arena dirt and a small center lake. Overall a wonderful mechanical feat, if you weren't surprised by being suddenly shifted across the room in your seat and up in the air. With that the headmaster gives a satisfactory nod before Tholas and the guard walk near the center of the arena.
"With that show, this will be your arena between now and until you walk out the gates. Luckily with advanced technology we can shift the battleground to whatever we may want. But for today we will leave it on its default setting." The headmaster says before nodding towards the two.
"Give it your all and students do try to keep up with the pace."He say's as the two begin dueling....
>>
>>2222161
>OP is bad at describing battles, so excuse your eyeballs.
The battle while it begins can only be described more as a brawl rather than a duel because as soon as the duel begins. The guard quickly tackles Tholas only to be held at bay by a shield. Only for it give way and for Tholas to be brought to the ground and the guard attempts to shred him into pieces with his bare hands. Which according to the large flares of aura coming from Tholas as the guard bashes onto his armor. Seems to be more than deadly enough.
The guards quick and brutal rage is brought to an end from a gauntlet slamming from Tholas slamming into the chin of the guard dazing him for a moment. As Tholas quickly kicks him into a wall leaving a human shaped imprint onto it as the guard gathers himself before charging again. It seems that some of the wildling stereotypes of them being reckless charges does hold true to some sense. As the duel of fist and blade quickly escalates to something you would see out of a show. A blade being blocked by the palm of a fist only for a sword to hack into said the arm of said palm. Aura's flare as the two clash over and over again. Before being brought to a halt when the guard attempts to roundhouse Tholas before being blocked by a shield and a hay maker. Which the sound of glass shattering is heard throughout the speakers. As the guard is enveloped by a colored sheen but before he can try to go for another hit he is interrupted by the headmaster
"Alright with that hit, Jaeger your out." To which the guard growls at Tholas for a minute before walking to the headmaster a noticeable limp to his step.
"I hoped you managed to at least learn a little bit from that." The headmaster say's as he claps his hand before a weary Tholas and a angered Jaeger collapse into a nearby chair.
"That my friends, is at least a taste you can expect to see from yourself into your later years. Now we won't have you brawl until you don't even have aura left." The headmaster says as he chuckles to himself.
"We will instead have you follow normal rules, hit below a certain percentage and your out. Now this stadium takes time to prep and deploy so most likely you won't be practicing in here. Instead we expect you to spar outside of the castle, in the square if the chairs are gone or any of the empty rooms we have lying around yada yada. You get the point." The headmaster says before clapping his hands together.
"Now who want's their aura activated??"

Of course you want your aura activated, that's the reason why you decided to become a hunter.
A hunter can't really be one if they don't have that innate force field that they all seem to have. If the duel was meant to intimdate you in anyway it did the equivelent of a gust of air on a steel wall. You along with everyone in your team raises your hand as if the equivalent of a adult handing a kid a sugar cookie.
As if a parent were talking to a child the headmaster speaks. "Alright, with the massive amount of students without aura we will have to do this all at once. Alright everyone join hands with one another." He say's as there is a pause for a moment before he continues.
"Well do it, you expect this to be a one on one? No, this is going to be a frakking ritual. Now everyone join hands." Willingly you obey joining your hands with lloyd and Abbey as you would in a church.

"Now everyone in order for this to work, I need you all to repeat the words with me at the same time. We're gonna have to repeat this 3 times so bear with me....And begin!" And with that the headmaster joins his hand with a nearby student and begins the words for activating someones aura as you all join as in a choir.
You join in with the others as you sing the hymn along with everyone else. And as if on cue a heavenly light descends from the heavens and shines onto the arena....It feel's, peacful almost relaxing as the light bathes you all in its glory ....Before suddenly shining away and you are rocked with a wave of power that threatens to bring you to your knees.

>93, 70, 31...Good stuff, poor Lloyd though.
You've heard that having your aura activated is like feeling a sudden wave of heroism like you can take on the world or suddenly feeling strong and healthy. Instead for you and many other people in the crowd. It's the exact opposite.
You feel a giant wave of nausea and soreness overcomes you as your body tells you its time to throw up. A few minutes of dry heaving later you groggily get back to your seat. While you manage to stay awake others such as Lloyd and the wildling are not so lucky, they along with others quickly dry heave for a while before passing out in their chair. Or simply like abbey pass out in their seats before the heaving even begin. Guess this is why there was no time to eat yesterday or today....And for good reason, the sounds echo throughout the room as does the laughing of the headmaster and Tholas as they point and jeer. As numerous students give in and collapse in their chairs.
You meanwhile try to breathe as you combat the wave for what seems to be hours before it eventually it fades away. Leaving you with a subtle feeling that your aura has been activated.
Eventually managing to stand up and dust yourself off the headmaster inspects the crowd of fallen students before speaking to the 20 or 30 of you.

"Alright, to those who managed to stay awake during this process. Good job, most people wouldn't be able to ride out the wave. So good job, consider the rest of the day yours. The cafeteria is now open to your liking." As the headmaster pokes in his scroll as you all receive directions to the academies cafeteria.
"And one more thing." The headmaster say's before he walks off. "Welcome to the dawn college students."
>>
>>2222410
>A few minutes pass and you manage to get your strength together brushing yourself off and overcoming 'jelly legs'. You look at your fallen teammates...What now? You have the rest of the day to do what you want. Whether it be visiting the workshop and improve your weapons. Head to the cafeteria and talk with a few of your fellow students or simply drag your teammates back to your dorm. They will appreciate it.

While improving your weapons is now a viable option with your knowledge of the academies public workshop. Dragging your teammates to your dorm seems a better option for now. And so with a sigh you remove your jacket and drag the three onto it making a impromptu sleigh and begin dragging them all the way back to the dorms.
Luckily with your new aura, or your second wind is coming on you slowly manage to drag them down the stairs and through the halls of the academy. Occasionally smiling to yourself as you notice their aura flare for just a moment when their heads hit the stairs. Living proof that their auras are also unlocked. Readjusting the grip on the collar of your jacket and gritting your teeth you drag them through the halls.
30 minutes or maybe an hour later, you haven't really checked your scroll yet. You arrive at the entrance of your dorm. A quick swipe of your scroll later and the door is opened where you quickly shove them into their bed.
A job well done if you say so yourself as you lay the blankets on their still armored forms. Before grabbing your jacket, checking for any holes and finally making your way to the mess hall/cafeteria.
>>
>>2222501
After a few detours and a health amount of checking through your scroll you manage to arrive at the entrance of the mess hall. Going through the doors you notice a few things.
A.They really like theme here...and
B. Food, glorious food that wasn't dehydrated and left sitting in your pack for days on end until you unearthed it.
You let a single tear flow from your eye hit the floor before skipping for a bit much to the bewilderment to the chefs before getting some food.
A few minutes later, and a unhealthy amount of food later you sit at one of the many empty tables and look around. The academy does like keeping in theme when it comes to places like this and also you finally have a moment to gather your thoughts over the past few days and think to yourself.
Eventually as you gather your thoughts together with the recent events a few thoughts eventually a few stick out the most. One that your aura has been unlocked which now has separated you from most civilians just by a single event. And two you are set on the path of becoming a hunter. As you poke into your food you start to wonder to yourself on what kind of hunter would you like to be?
>One that does their job and leaves it at that. Soldiering on through the day and missions. Like how you would treat a job rather than a life career...

>Tie between money and unknown future...Writing.

You idly flick a piece of bread across your plate as you think to yourself on the future. More lien is always a nice thing you've always hear of hunters complaining about their latest job. Whether it be guarding a more than paranoid noble, prisoners, captured white fang, or anything around that.
Many hunters are more interested in the glory rather than the pay. And good for them, but extra lien never hurt anyone. Especially when you can use said money for anything you can want. Maybe buy higher quality plates or parts to improve your weapons with. Some of that precious premium schnee dust. Or simply save it up for a trip to mistral or anywhere you please.
But still even with that you remind yourself that your still so early in you career that maybe you shouldent start counting your chickens before they hatched. There will be bumps and holes during your career, so keeping an open mind will be useful. Especially during critical moments when you have to decide on what job to take as a student and after you graduate..
Your wrapped up so much in your thoughts it takes a while for you notice that your scroll is ringing.
Snapping out of your thoughts you pick up the scroll and check to see who it is.
It's Abbey, a quick scan through and its a simple message thanking you for your action and an offer of whether you want to practice with that dust you recently acquired. If not Lloyd and the wildling are heading out of the castle to set up some targets and are wondering if your going to come along. With nothing to do as for now you debate on whether which you would like to go.

>Go practice with the wildling and Lloyd for now?

Quickly you reply to the text message about going with abbey and practicing with the dust you have recently acquired. Before a thought comes to your head, sending a message you suggest doing it somewhat close to the others just so you can talk. She quickly accepts the offer and you head out the kitchen shrugging back on your jacket.
A while later and dust case and shotgun slung on your back you head with abbey to the other two. As you walk from the castle towards the two where lloyd and the wildling are practicing with a few ammo boxes nearby
"Miss, miss, miss are you even trying?" LLoyd says as the wilding is currently prone and trying to take aim at some distant targets.
"Miss, miss, miss...Are you even trying?" Lloyd says as the wildling grunts in response and lets out another burst which doesn't even come close. Noticing your steps he turns around and waves to you.
"Hey Marshel just practicing the firearms for a bit." He say's as he idily kicks the box.
"Notice you have the case, you gonna practice with the dust a bit?" You nod in response.
"Alright, there should be two targets or so i'm sure you can try on. Should be good enough as long as you don't blow us all up to kingdom come." He says as he chuckles to himself for a bit and resumes monitoring the wildlings horrible aim.
Opening the dust case and taking a look at the crystals, you start to realize a few things. One. That you have no idea how to properly use dust apart from the tidbits you have heard from student hunter's. And two, a bit of digging through the case you notice a small card pop out from it which says "good luck".
Probably why they told you to practice outside...Sighing you pick up a random stone from the case and thumb it for a bit as you focus on a distant target. With no formal training or real training you try your best to utilize the dust.

>83 solid success and some useful info gained!

As you hold the water dust in your hand as you try to remember some useful tidbit of information from when you would listen to hunter conversations about combat school. As you flick the crystal in your hand you remember a student talking about a trick of how they would use their aura to activate the dust and visualize a spike while making a throwing motion.
With nothing else to do, you try to emulate it as best you, focus your will on the dust. And right before as your aura reaches the stone you visualize a spike of water punching through the target,
The dust quickly turns from a harmless crystal into a jet of high powered water mid flight. Hitting the target, it makes a metallic ringing sound notifying you of your hit. A crude technique but one that at least provided results. As you reach towards another crystal to practice with you notice the wildlings lmg has stopped firing.
Looking at him you notice that instead of being in a firing position he is instead sprinting at a target as a more than amused lloyd shakes his head at the spectacle.

"Looks like someone has anger issues." Abbey says as the wildling tackles the target and begins beating the tar out of it. "We have the rest of the day to practice with the crystals. Plus i hear theres plenty of ways to manipulate dust. So you can try them out. Unless you wanna show the wildling up." He says as the wildling chucks the target somewhere before begrudgingly heading back to his gun.

>You learned a way to use dust! Using a dust stone you at least send a bolt of elemental power towards your target. It's somewhat unfocused but at least its something.

>Wanna continue practicing with the dust? This action will be assuming you practice until you run out of dust as you refine you newfound technique.
>Or maybe, take your shotgun and try to score a few hits and show up the wildling. Who now is just wildly firing his gun.

...yep thats more than needed, way more than needed.....Time to introduce a bit of lore..

As the day goes by you run through your crystals noting each affect and practicing your aim with it.Each time you experiment a little bit, whether it be trying to throw a curve ball or trying to use 3 at once. You eventually get the hang of the dust game reliably scoring hits on most of your targets as you hail the target with fire-bolts, chunks of rocks and water and wind.
Abbey mostly watches idily as you chuck dust bolt after dust bolt at it.
Eventually getting the hang of it and becoming more confident in your ability you try to instead of activating it in your hand, you instead stow it on your person and try to remember where you placed it and try to activate it with your aura. The dust activates as normal giving you some reassurance that you won't have to pull out a crystal in your hand everytime you want to use it. But an idea comes to you as you the dust bolt at the target. Taking out your last fire crystal you have an epiphany and go with it.
As you activate it instead of your normal procedure with your bolts so far you instead imagine a ball of fire appearing in your hand. It does exactly that, the ball of fire simply laying in your hand for a good minute or so as you try to keep the idea in your mind. Before it eventually dissipates in the air in a cloud of smoke.
Experimenting with your last few crystals, water and the like you notice that the longer you hold it the wider the radius it would be. With your water crystal and holding it as long as you dare you chuck it at the target and it simply showers it along with the nearby target a few feet away with a burst of water. Interesting...

After reaching your last crystal, and begin contemplating to head to the armory for another case of dust. You notice that instead of the wildling shooting it's instead lloyd as he tries over and over to quick draw and fire his weapon at a target. The wildling is simply maintaining his weapon grumbling to himself. As Lloyd manages to score 2 different targets he turn towards you and notices your now empty dust case.

"Huh, didnt notice that you went through your entire case. Was busy practicing, the wildling simply got angry and now well..." He points to the wildling as he takes out a jammed bullet and starts reloading.
"Still hasn't hit a single shot the entire day..Mind giving him a few tips? I would do it but.." He gestures to the wildling who now has finished reloading and levels the weapon at the hillside and starts firing while yelling.
"Yeah....So would you?"

>Wanna help the wildling actually score a hit on a target?? If not you can simply call it a day and head back to the armory and refill your dust case. And leave him to his own devices and most likely the rest of the ammo.
>>
>>2229236
>Sure, why not?
The Browning name isn't just for show.

>Lore bit: Dust in combat is odd to say the least. Unlike say learning from a dedicated class many dust users simply experiment on there own or simply have someone hand teach it to them Essentially having everyone have there own way to use dust unlike say a strict form of martial art. Anyone can use dust to its effect whether making an obstacle or throwing a fire bolt. Or simply playing hot potato with a ball of fire in your hands. With the right amount of training and dust any of these is possible. It's just that there will be variations between dust user as they do the same action. Most hunters simply load the dust into there weapon and simply augment there attacks with it.
As an example: If two users would throw a ball of fire, one would be shaped like a arrow head or one could be just be a straight ball. They produce the same effect although there slightly different..

You take a look at the wildling, as he jams his gun again before quickly setting it down and attempting to unjam it. "Alright i'll help him, Abbey i think thats all for today." Abbey simply nods and draws her rapier and begins shadow fencing. As you walk over to the wildling to help him unjam his gun as he has managed to jam it again. When you both manage to and he tries to do the same as he did before, you gently dissuade him from it simply teach him how to do it.
"Here let me have it." As he begrudgingly hands you the firearm as you start instructing him on the basics of fire discipline. To which he simply listens as you go through the steps of showing him and with a burst of fire you managed to land a hit. With that his demeanor changes from one that is simply trying to copy the stars that you would see on film to a proper stance. As the day winds near to and end with you instructing the basics to him to which he patently listens. He finally scores a hit on one of his targets, it was one of the closer ones but still a hit.
As he reaches towards the ammo box for a ammo belt his hand comes up empty. Sighing he holds out your hand to you which you shake before he begins packing up his weapon.
"Looks like were out of ammo, and also daylight seems to be running out." Lloyd says taking the opportunity to kick the last ammo box as it makes a sound indicating its quite empty.
"Don't worry to much about him." Lloyd says as he he pats you as you two watch the wildling grab one of the boxes before heading back to the dorm.
"He's a quiet one, i'm sure he appreciates the help. Now cmon." He says patting your back. "Hopefully the mess hall has some food left we can snag.
"Hopefully they do, i haven't ate anything all day." Abbey says as releases her grip on the rapier. "Now cmon, if we hurry they may have something left. As she sheathes her rapier and motions for the two of you to walk back to the academy which you two oblige.

As the three of you walk back to the academy carrying empty ammo boxes and battle worn targets. You take the time to examine the courtyard as tired students begin to flood into the square to deposit the evidence of their training. And well to acquire sleep or rest up for the next day.
Eventually the three of you walk to the armory where you wave goodbye to Abbey and Lloyd as they head into the armory to deposit said boxes while you walk to the dust storage.
The dust storage not only mimics the armory's security but also improves on it. After more than a few security checks you arrive to the center of the dust storage.
Similar to how a dust shop would work but only on a much, much secure scale. You idly browse the crystals as you open your case. And begin to decide on what you would want.....You also find a stack of pamphlets about dust. Reading through it for a minute you are not amused.

OP is redoing post, sorry about that your vote would still count though.

For those wondering, op posted a similar post to this one but deleted it and redid due to personal issues. I promise I won't be doing this often its just that when writing this I noticed a major error.

Looking through the dust machines your mind begins to think about the possibilities. Spears of ice and flame or maybe a explosive with some of that orange dust. Nonetheless looking through the stockpile and thinking to yourself. You decide on a few of the more exotic types of dust and wind and earth. Which you think that with time you can experiment even further with it.
Taking your time to pick out the crystals and refilling your case. You notice that your scroll has essentially opened into a menu listing the crystals in there appropriate size, category and etc. Neat and organized
Packing your dust into its case you scan your scroll through the various locks and doors until you reach the brisk air of the dawn college. Renewed dust case in hand and
Remembering that Abbey and Lloyd were at the mess hall and with your recent activities leaving you more than a little peckish. Walking back to the mess hall you notice that your teammates have already gone and sat down in a table. When you do manage to gather your plate and sit down with them you notice that they have already begun talking about there past and family. With lloyd telling abbey and the wildling a few tall truths of how a miner slain a alpha Beowulf with nothing but fire dust and a pick. Maybe it was true maybe it wasn't.
The thought of home creeps into your mind as you listen into the story. Lloyd while being a miner at least had a family from work and at home that he could count on in times of need. Abbey and the wildling simply listen intently as you daydream while listening about thoughts of home.

>Who was your family and if you had one what happened?
>A father and a mother: You were like many other people in the world, you had a mother, you had a father. They raised you the best they could and they did good. You learned your way through the world. Going through the stages of school that a normal civlian would go through, and fantasizing about being a hunter. Eventually you became a apprentice and then a journeyman months later the thought of being a hunter crept into your mind. And so with a bit of research and a heart full of hope you went to the dawn college to learn.
>A family trade: You were raised by a family of blacksmiths and when the time came for you to become a blacksmith, you did so with pride, taking everything they taught you to heart.
>Independence: Your childhood wasn't the greatest of memory's instead you were like many other orphans your house ransacked by the grimm and eventually you arrived at the door of an orphanage as many have before. Life was dull doing menial tasks to keep the building in check tomfoolery and tricks were a special prize of yours.
>Faded memories but a heart of gold: You don't remember your parents, instead you had a aunt and uncle who took you in and raised you. You learned to see the kindness in people that many others do not. A little naive you apprenticed and eventually followed the steps until you decided to become a hunter and entered the college.

>Custom: For those anons who wanted to write something of there own that didn't fit the above categories.

Again apologies once more for the deletion of the post where the two anons that posted there replies went to.

Don't worry about it. By the way, the thread's on page 10, have you archived it yet?

...I have not anon, I have not yet. I was planning to once it entered the archives and off the catalog. But I honestly have troubles archiving it.

>>2232292
Don't know how to archive myself, so I'm sorry to say you're on your own there buddy. Even if I can, I'm terrible with descriptions, so you're better off asking other anons to do it.

Remembering your past brought a noticeable frown to your face. Sighing you take out a small locket and begin to turn turn it over. When your home was ransacked by the grimm when you were a child and you ended up at the door of a local orphanage. It wasn't the greatest but you had plenty of spare time when you weren't doing tasks or cleaning after yourself. So you spent your time like many other orphans. You fooled around, played tricks on local guards and merchants. Adored hunters like supermen that would slay the evil creatures called the grimm.
You banded with other fellow orphans to help in your tricks and you grew bolder. Whether it would be messing with a hunter or maybe setting off fireworks near the local dust store. Anything that would pass the time as the days wound on. Your caretakers would sigh and would be angry but they knew children would be children.
As the years went on and you still weren't adopted rather than simply refusing being adopted at all and running away. You instead apprenticed yourself to a blacksmith to learn the rules of the trade. Before you went to your new master you were given a small necklace of whatever religion the orphanage had by one of the elderly staff. Just a way to congratulate you for making a right decision before you went out to the world.
Heading back into the conversation with a smile, Lloyd is now talking about some wild tale of how they found a cavern of dust that seemed to stretch for miles. With a now skeptical but amused Abbey and a neutral wildling.

>Gained locket: A memento of your days of playing pranks and tracks on people. While you may or may not be religious it brings back fond memories, the gems are glass but the metal is real.

>Continued.
>>
>>2232543
What would we get from the other choices?
>>
>>2232572
You would get mementos the other mementos would be.
>A family trade: Tin sculpture: A small sculpture that you keep in a velvet pouch. Your grandfather and your father helped you to make this. Rather than give you a new toy they instead devoted an entire day to help you to make this. Fond memories spending time with your family at work come from this.
>A father and mother: A simple photograph that is in your wallet of your family. It's a picture of you all smiling as you look at the photo during the Vytas festival when it came near enough to you that you could go. Brings a tear to your eye as you remember your family still waiting for you to be successful in your training.
>Faded memories but a heart of gold: Ring: A ring bought from a beggar selling whatever he had to make ends meet. Its a simple iron ring but it enchants you in a way due to the nature of how you got it and the story the beggar had when he told you of how he got it.

I should really make like a google doc where people can keep track of marshals stuff...

>>2232628
I think our own tools would've been a more appropriate memento for the family trade story.
>>
>>2232675
True, but it had to be something that you could carry on you at all times...And carrying a set of tools even in the heat of battle didn't make sense to me...But your right i will give you that.

As the four of you discuss your past lives, you notice something peculiar well not really. But more surprising is that becoming a hunter wasn't your first plan. You all had your own lives that you attended whether it was being a student, a miner or you can assume for the wildling, a warrior. Becoming a hunter wasn't your first plan but when it shown you all went for it.
Lloyd came to it in search of finding a better life than being stuck in a mine for the rest of his life. Abbey decided to be a hunter due to her not having much of a backup plan.
And the wildling, well for him...
"I wanted to be stronger, learn to be a leader and be a better person than I was." He said when Lloyd asked him the question of why he wanted to be here. "There is not that many of us that have auras, most of us remain as villagers. I wanted to be something more." As you listened intently as he confirmed his intentions. With that Lloyd springs back to a story of how his cousin Keith Lloyd pissed off the schnee company and got away with it.

>A left 4 dead reference for you all,

>Error in post: Keith Fett. Keith Lloyd...(sorry!) Back to post!.

As the day eventually came to an end with the food on your plates and the mess hall slowly drawing empty. You all eventually packed away your stuff and headed back to your dorms where warm beds and cool air awaited you. But before that happened you all get a message on your scroll. Opening it displays a schedule of your soon to be classes.
The basics, history, combat instruction, aura practice and the general stuff you would see for a 16 year old to attend. With a sigh you scan through it further your eye rolling as notice a note stating that combat instruction would simply be more like free sparring with dummies or on the range.
At least they have the safety of the students in mind. As the thought of two people brawling it out rather than properly using their weapons comes to mind. Interacting with the schedule you do notice something. You can swap out one of your general classes due to your background as a blacksmith and having some training in firearms for something else.

>Medical classes: Hunters get hurt in the line of duty, that's a fact and it will stay that way. Whether you know what to do in case a fellow hunter is wounded can mean the difference between a hunter that's disabled and unable to fight. And one that just used a bit of dust and bandages. Taught by Tholas. Lloyd might pick this class to improve his skills or out of concern for himself.
>Survival classes: Whether being stranded in the middle of vale or in mistral. Survival is essential for many hunters that seem to have there missions travelling to the middle of nowhere...Your sure that the wildling would pick this one. Taught by the guard of the dawn college.
>Tech use and electronic warfare: State of the art atlas tech, or simply learning how to operate and repair electronic equipment can be useful in knowing how to operate radios, navigational equipment and anything that atlas prototypes and sends to hunters. You think that Abbey might pick this class.
>Dust theory: Both a theoretical class and a practical class, it goes into depth of dust and the application of it in civilian and hunter life. And also how to use it in combat and out of the field. Nila comes to mind when you read the description. If you pick this class your sure that you would encounter her.

Dawn, you should pay better attention to the page counter on the bottom right. People aren't likely to vote in a dying thread.

OP will take this as his cue to make a new thread tomorrow. And also a paste bin for Marshal
