My name is Curi.

I work in a dungeon.

I have been here my entire life and it wasn't until recently that I was able to realize that I liked being here.

Not because of the dungeon itself, but because of a person.

It is Christmas today.

======================

"As my wisest and oldest companions... I ask you guys... What is the perfect gift to get our creator, Mary?"

"......................."

Hmm...

Are they trying to say 'nothing'? Is that the best gift?
>>
>>2197715
She needs a male companion
>>
>>2197715
Oh baby I didn't expect this little bonus thread here today!

Maybe they think that everyone in the dungeon is the best gift? Maybe you guys are the gift?
>>
>>2197715
She needs your love!
>>
>>2197715
a vacation!
>>
>>2197715
Tell her you hate banking upper management
>>
>>2197715

I second a vacation. Mary needs some time to herself so she can relax and unwind.
>>
>>2197715
Feasibly she could make just about whatever she wants using runes.

Write her a nice letter saying how much she and what she does means to you.
>>
>>2197715

Slime hugs? A mountain of jelly donuts?

A massage chair! That would probably suit her. Then again, I guess she does have constant access to the spa...

Hmm... Maybe you could get her some new runes somehow. I forget if we have the exploring monster upgrade, but if so, maybe pay a season's beating on her rivals.
>>
>>2197715
Your body.

Seriously, though, she seems to be someone who likes her private time. Perhaps a nice book?

OH WAIT! We could use the dungeon management system to look at her social media accounts and scan her! All we need to do is give you admin privileges...

...

>(plops on to Curi's head)

Done.
>>

>>
>>2197715
Are we even sure Mary celebrates Christmas? As opposed to, say, Hannukuh, or Festivus, or Quanza?
>>
>>2197715
Maybe they think less fondly of their creator.

I think she'd appreciate some office supplies. A red Swingline stapler, perhaps.
>>
>>2197715
If you stopped Dungeoneer from dressing her up in lewd Christmas outfits, that'd probably work.
>>
>>2197715
Their rune count might be too low for proper sapience and desires.

Must be a tough job being mother to all the slime children, Curi.
>>
>>2197790

You know, Curi, if you got some of the NPCs to take a sound, comfy, and tech rune, you could build a totally bitchin' massage thingy. Integrate it into a back brace to help out with Mary's awful posture.

>Curi places the crown on her head.

"Today, I will be in charge! Gather the comfy slimes, Mary will NOT be disturbed today!"

>The pair of slimes look at her.

Wait... Wait.

I have control over everything. I can just...

>Curi places an order on all comfy slimes to mobilize to Mary's room.

Ha! So easy!

But, this is only part one of my gift...

Part two is getting runes.

I don't want to touch the runes we currently have, so our only option is to get more.

I can try running the dungeon in her stead and get runes like that ooor...

Utilizing the miracle of Christmas, assemble a team to go out and get more runes!

(This special ability only works once per year, during the holiday season.)

Either we bring back new runes for her, more runes for her, or we can make a nice gift using them!

It's a win/win/win.

TALLY HO! IT'S SLIMEVENTURE TIME!
>>
>>2197818
Let's harness the power of gift-giving to make a name for ourselves as raiders to be FEARED!
See who's available for the raid: try to make the party 50/50 experienced monsters and underutilized monsters.

>>
>>2197818
Wooo!

Let's go raid that red bitch's place in the spirit of giving!

In this case, the gift we're giving is a lesson on why you should not fuck with Mary's Dungeon.
>>
>>2197818
It's time for a Royal Raiding Party! Send out the knights!
>>
>>2197818

Hmm. You know, you could create a non-hostile dungeon environment for the season and invite adventurers to enjoy themselves. All it would cost you is a couple of candy and possibly fancy runes to make Candy Cane golems and Hot Chocolate Slimes. Making the Spa accessible and throwing over the whole dungeon with a wintery theme could really bring in a hefty chunk of business.

Then, we can roll out the A-team to raid some dungeons. Princess Raiding Party could be fun. Either way, we kind of need three rune monster or above to make sure they can be trusted without adult supervision.
>>
>>2197818
Get runes for "Man", "Virility", "Romance" and "Reproduction"
>>
>>2197848

This might work with high-level players if they have shittons of disposable currency that would still be valuable to a relatively low-level dungeon.

Alright! I'm glad you guys agree with me on this!

We can go out, storm the dungeons, and come back with all the riches for Mary!

For the citadel!

>>2197848
Oooh.... That's also a really good idea. It wouldn't be that hard to make a special seasonal event, I think.

>Curi calls on Dungeoneer to see if they could do such a thing.

"Easily," The Construct says, "-And-, if you want, you can just give me the crown and I can run the whole event for you while you're off doing your own thing. Many hands make for lighter work and all that."
>>
>>2197900
Don't do it. Terrible things happen when someone gets their hands on two crowns.
>>
>>2197900
hard no on the crown business. Mary would be mad at us!
>>
>>2197900
Dungeoneer works closely with Mari, you can count on her. Do it.
>>
>>2197900
oh but I want to be able to affect both of these events, they're just too good, can we perhaps hold off on one and then still influence the other?

It'd be so nice to see both sides, and I really don't want to bully Dungeoneer on Christmas...
>>
>>2197900

I, um... Her brain scares me. Also, she already has a crown. You should stick around, Curi. The lady of the house needs to be ready to welcome guests and lay the Christmas smack down if need be.
>>
>>2197900

If you do that, she'll likely turn it into a sexy dungeon for sexy adventurers. Which may appeal to some people, but seems to be against the spirit of Christmas.

Maybe for Valentine's Day or something.
>>
>>2197900
You should invade the heck out of the other slime dungeon, show them who's the real slime.

Also sorry for using the H word, got excited.
>>
>>2197900
Don't give her the crown, she already has a crown, don't double crown her
>>
>>2197900
The Dungeoneer is not allowed to wear the Crown. Putting that aside, As the most powerful slime in the dungeon, Curi should stay behind to maintain the peace. Trust in the Captain Knight to lead the raiding party.
>>
>>2197900
not today, she would be way too lewd.
>>
>>2197900
Give it to Cleric plant, s/he's the oldest intelligent monster not going along. Dungeoneer already has a crown and the last time the crowns/artifacts of power touched things went nuclear for a bit.
>>
>>2197900
If we did that, she'd make nothing but dick monsters for the dungeon.
>>
>>2197900
Put it this way, if everyone else is so worried about Dungeoneer with the crown, send your children to adventure, and you help supervise with Dungeoneer and work together. It's Christmas, be nice.

> Turn the fountain room with the giant slime into an ice skating rink with ramps.
> Adorn the central area with wintery decor, lights, tensel, and just enough frost to make you crave a warm beverage, which we can cooperate with Novem to have plenty of.
> Music slime plays holiday music everywhere
> Winter Maze is scrambled and disarmed so that people can just enjoy getting lost in the cold. If they make it to the end, they are treated to warm cider.
> The battlegrounds are now the Snowball War area. We may need a new monster, a frost maiden (water+air+magic) to turn the whole place into a field of just, the perfect snow. The snowballs always come out just right and fortresses don't crumble.

>>2197998
>>2198040
Excellent ideas. I think we can definitely go with these. It looks like with the Miracle of Christmas we can do so much stuff!

It's amazing the things they just give away during the holiday. Almost as though some greater being doesn't want us to worry about having to keep track of a bunch of things, just for one day.

I think we just have to work with what we have and we'll have a lot of freedom.

>>2198023
An excellent idea. It would be pretty terrible if people just got into a buncha real fights in the middle of this festive event.

Let's see what Dungeoneer is working on.

"Curi! I present... The staff uniform for the event!"
>>
>>2198096
Great! So where's yours, Dungeoneer?
>>
>>2198096
"aren't you supposed to be the one wearing it?"
>>
>>2198096
I like the idea Dungeoneer, keep the skirt mostly fine, but add some more fabric between that and her chest, and a long billowing coat.

You'll want to wear one of these two Dungeoneer. Come on now. You're staff too. And we know you're not as...keen on wearing what you make. So why not make it nice for everyone?
>>
>>2198096

Emphasize curves but no skimpiness.

Unless Dungeoneer volunteers to wear it for the duration of the event and to act as a greeter for the dungeon.
>>
>>2198096

Oh no, I think that one would look much better on you, dear. Just trim the skirt up another inch or so and stick some elf ears on you. Oh? Did I just hear someone volunteer to be the dungeon greeter?

I mean, makes sense that it would be you, Dungeoneer. So good spirited of you.
>>
>>2198096
We need some underboob, sideboob, and shortshort variations! Otherwise, spot on!
>>
>>2198096
Hide the midriff and we'll approve it.

Also, it needs to be warm. It's going to become a winter wonderland in here, don't need the employees to be freezing.

The dungeon has been completely reworked. Many of the more difficult encounters have been removed and the whole thing has been given a festive flair.

Places that would normally be resting spots after the dungeon has been completed are now open for people to explore.

Weapons are being confiscated at the front desk and being replaced with items that deal no damage and are quite festive looking.

Also, if a person manages to complete the dungeon, they get to keep the item!

Now, they are more than welcome to simply use the facilities and relax... But, by participating in special events throughout the dungeon, they can win prizes.

YUM has been kind enough to provide us with all the candy monsters and candy themed traps we could ever want.

I've made a small version of me that I'll leave here in the dungeon. This should help me keep an eye on things.

Now, let's see what dungeons there are.... Mary has a few dungeon masters on her contact list so we can approach any of these guys.

>Lord Savage
*Extremely hard dungeon filled with monsters that are 6 runes or above.
*High risk, high reward.
*Bearer of the Almighty Rune.

*Some runes in his dungeon are: Almighty, Power, Impact, Bone.

>Glass Spinner
*A puzzle dungeon that has a relatively high success rate. Few monsters, many traps.
*Used to farm Glass Weapons. Strong but fragile items.
*Recently opened a shop to sell merch.

*Some runes in her dungeon are: Glass, Soul, Golem, Water

>Toxic Sisters
*A dungeon that focuses primarily on monsters that use debuffs.
*The older sister is quite popular. The younger doesn't appear often.

*Some runes that appear in their dungeon are: Toxic, Entropy, Water, Disease.

>Slime Matron

*Copycat.

>Red Widow
*A dungeon that is fairly standard as far as things go. Extremely rich.
*She has recently opened a spa in her dungeon.

*Some runes that appear in her dungeon are: Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Light, Dark.

>Someone's jealous.

But no, seriously let's go
>Glass Spinner.
>>
>>2198828
>Slime matron

She’s been around longer and there’s no harm in learning from experience, or seeing how to differentiate yourself from the competition.

Let’s just be sure to be polite.
>>
>>2198828

If you gave me a map and a day to think on it (Crown time, of course), I could probably cook up a half dozen ways to kill at least a few of Savage's monsters. That swag bag with an Almighty rune would make Mary a very happy woman.

>>
>>2198828

Visit the Slime Matron. We need to see what she's doing and either do something else or do it better. Who knows, this could actually improve relations instead of aggravate them. It's a Christmas miracle, after all!
>>
>>2198853
>>2198846
I agree, Slime Matron doesn't like that we're copying her style. If she has her own slime knights and such, we might have to go in a different direction. Though it might be cool to see Rosalyn battle them!
>>
>>2198828
I'm thinking Glass Spinner. Savage sounds tempting for the runes, but I'd worry for Dark Slime in a high level dungeon.

>>2198853
Watch her be running the exact same event we are right now.
>>
>>2198853
>>2198859
We don't need to spy her to make our own slime dungeon good and unique. If people are coming to us already, we're doing fine; either we are different and better, or we're naturally outclassing her.
>>
>>2198872
But.. but... almighty!
>>
>>2198828

>>
>>2198872
>Watch her be running the exact same event we are right now.
I wanna see a fight between Curi and Slime Matron, who's the better slime mom?
>>
>>2198828
Lord Savage is not going to turn out well.
Toxic Sisters?! NO! Poison is a direct counter to slimes, as we've seen from the alchemist.
We could go mess with Red Widow but I'm not sure we want to start shit with her yet.
Glass Spinner...? I dunno, I want to fight things.

Let's go visit Slime Matron and see what her dungeon is like, so that we can try to keep our dungeon distinct from hers.
>>
>>2198853
>>2198859
But if she's truly a copy cat. We're not going to be putting our best effort out to give new runes for Mary! Rivalry and scouting another day!

Bring glass spinner a time rune. There are a million wonderful puzzles she could make with that. Also, comfy slime bath salts, and maybe a bath robe from the spa.

Congratulations, Curi. It's a mirror match. Look to the other side of the room. Good news is that if they can only do what you do, you don't have to open up a confrontation. See if you can walk them to the opposite side of the room and have them open the door.

Its clearly a runic puzzle, you're supposed to push the buttons till the symbols line up or something. So either just disassemble it so that you can force them to fit the answer or just keep randomly hitting buttons till it works.

Stand on the buttons one at a time, see what they do, first. Then we can work to figure it out.

>>
>>2201246
try twisting the pyramid sections. I see water runes and fire runes. and arrows corresponding to them. Maybe we need to line up the runes?
>>
>>2201246
I'm guessing you need to match the sides? Fire, Water, Earth and Air?

Not sure what the back two buttons do but I assume the right one pivots the top and the left one switches top and bottom?

I guess the other two change the symbol based on what two elements you're combining?

Try it and see.

>The top left seems to swap the two runes. She presses it again and swaps them back.

>The top right one seems to just take a rune from the top and place it into the bracket looking rune. She presses it again to put the rune back.
>>
>>2201300
Put water in bracket and align fire with air.
>>
>>2201246
Is this aome fifth element bullshit?
>>
>>2201300
So there are 2 of each elemental rune, and then the 4 symbols. If we can figure out what the 3 types of brackets are supposed to mean, the puzzle should be easy.
>>
>>2201300
Alright, so we can use the bracket and the swap mechanic in conjunction to get the runes in the places we need. Seems simple.
>>
>>2201246
Can the sections be spun?
>>
>>2201300
Maneuver the blocks in such a way that you add a fire then a water rune into the bracket.
>>
>>2201300
So, you can make it be four matching pairs, right?

Maybe some psionic slimes will help solve this?
>>
>>2201309
It's a matching puzzle. Match top and bottom, it seems. The middle layer just denotes what each button does to that face. Well, each button is connected to it's particular face, so it's not like the button pressed will do the action on the face its closest to.
>>
>>2201300
We're supposed to make a pyramid of glass by lining up the elements that make glass.
>>
>>2201300
Perhaps those bracket looking runes are math equations. Fire + Earth=Glass, Water - Air=Glass(in the form of a reflection), and so on and so forth.
>>
>>2201326
I like this idea.
>>
>>2201322
No wait, seems the middle section doesn't move... I was just not paying attention.

>>
>>2201300
I don't remember what any of the runes mean but the bracket probably involves combining the runes into a solution.

Bottom left, bottom left, bottom left, bottom right, top left, hit bracket.

>She pops it back out of the bracket, moves it around, puts the wind rune in, tries to fuse it with the earth, but nothing happens.

Rosalyn, slice your way through objects you can't dodge, but be prepared to switch to s slime backup if that glass weapon is just the regular kind of glass and not the magically-somehow-strong-but-frail kind.
Without seeing how her attacks work, maybe the objective is to open a doorway via collateral damage. Swing for the fences!

The solution to the puzzle is her belly button. Why else would she wear an outfit like that?

It's simple deduction.
>>
>>2201782
So, the glass pieces are vulnerable to glass weapons, and destroying them undoes their levitation magic.

Look for a hidden glass shard that she's not using to attack; she might be using it to power her own levitation or protection magic.

>>2201782

So, Rosalyn's sword can cut through those projectiles perfectly fine as well as cancel the magic on them. I imagine a normal attack wouldn't fair nearly as well. The key here is that a weapon made of glass can pierce Glass Spinner's projectiles and cancel her magic.

I imagine part of the "puzzle" monster at the beginning is that you could defend yourself with your weapon and turn it into glass for this occasion (hence the rumors that people farm glass weapons at this dungeon). The one use item to turn any object into glass is also a tell.

Anyway, if the goal is to beat her with her own glass, then you are in luck, Curi. You are literally surrounded by throwable chunks. Bonus points if you gather them up, build a barrel out of ice, and then use explodey slime to fire them at her like buckshot.
>>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Rupert%27s_Drop
>>
Is the Slime Matron's Dungeon older or younger than ours?
>>
>>2202355
Older, that old hag has been in the slime business for a long time.

It's about time that she got some serious competition. I mean have you heard about what they had been saying about slimes before Slimecrown showed people how to do a real slime dungeon?
>>
>>2202355
Actually I think she’s younger, meant to be a sort of copycat or scam version of our own.

This is why we needed to trademark our dungeon.
>>
>>2201782
>"Hmph. I'm immune to that sort of attack, little one."

Since this is a puzzle boss, we must figure out her weakness via pattern recognition and using our noggins.

She is clearly immune to physical attacks. Glass items are effective against her glass constructs. This whole dungeon is themed around mirrors and reflecting things and puzzles. When her dungeon and puzzles were complimented, Glass Spinner was clearly taken aback and not displeased to hear it.

Given the glass/mirror motif, her immunity to direct attacks, and her reaction to praise, this boss fight is clearly about vanity and honest feedback. Thus, to beat GS, we must honestly compliment her about her own features and the dungeon.

Perhaps we can start out by complimenting her costume and her hourglass figure. She clearly works hard to maintain her figure and she looks good rocking an outfit like that, which not just anyone can do! Plus, her little spade-tail is very cute, and her horns frame her face very well.
>>
>>2202725
Pretty sure we accidentally cribbed her motif, not the other way around.
>>
>>2202805
This is true. We accidentally took her theme of a slime dungeon.

>>
>>2203145

"Dark Slime!"

>Dark Slime nods and uses her magic to obscure the woman's face. She grimaces and uses raw might to try and dispell the darkness.

>Dark Slime can feel an incredible pressure pushing against the darkness but she gives it her all to keep it in place.

"(You can't defeat darkness! It claims all!)" She said, gritting her non-existent teeth as she struggles to keep the dark orb around her.

"Impressive." Glass Spinner says as she raises her hands. "I didn't think a simple slime could keep up something like this against me. But, if you think I need to see to win..."

>With a gesture, glass spikes erupt from the field and surround the group. Glass Spinner lifts a massive chunk of glass above them, easily big enough to crush them all.

"Prince Rupert's Revenge!"

>She drops the chunk of glass onto the group.

>Rosalyn grips her sword.

"You will not hurt the queen! Law, set!"

>Before the slab can make contact, she slices it clean in half. Her cleave is powered by her own law, one that she quickly nullifies after her attack to prevent the Glass Spinner from benefiting from it.

Then invite her and/or her glass pets over some time, for a dungeon run or just to have fun.
>>
>>2203638
Loot the end chest for all the gold.
>>
>>2205301
That end chest is actually a trap to make people think they've won so they don't notice the hidden puzzle leading to the real one.

...Though we really should be getting back to our dungeon, so let's just take what we get. Christmas isn't a time to be greedy anyway.
>>
>>2203638
Let's make this a Christmas Slime tradition. Whenever people don't put up Christmas decorations into their dungeons, Slimes will break into the place and try to forcefully redecorate the place and force the owner of the abode to partake in the festivities even if they have to shoot shards of glass at you from a cannon to make it happen.
>>
>>2204941
dungeoneer likes lewding others but is allergic to lewding herself. aka she can dish it out but can't take it.
>>
>>2205702

Perhaps we should be glad that she's like that. If she were lewdness unrestricted, there's no telling what she would do if she gained an iota of management power in the dungeon.

I wholeheartedly support inviting her and her staff to Slime Crown for Christmas, the other members of the League as well (if she can help us peer pressure them into it). Nobody should have to work on Christmas.

As for talking shop on puzzles, I guess in addition to a box of rubix puzzles and a spa pass, I've got a few ideas kicking around for possible room designs in her dungeon.

> These Six Walls (Reprise): With each wall composed of a large mirror, the adventurers only get a brief look around before all but one goes dark. As they hover in the void, they then see their reflection in the remaining surface, but with a vivid difference: the scenery on the other side is completely different. It could be a forest, a temple, a series of platforms, but the key is that the players reflection can interact with the objects on the other side that the player can’t, such as switches, keys, blocks, and yes, obstacles and monsters. For added difficulty, activate more than one surface and force them to solve the puzzle under the combined restrictions or keep an eye on multiple enemies or obstacles impeding their movements.

> Vertigo: An amulet or other item in this room is waiting for the adventurer, an incomprehensible maze of twisting and broken pathways ahead of them. By taking hold and activating the item, they suddenly find that gravity is no longer following where they are relative to the ground, but relative to glimmering pathway surfaces that run across the fragmented landscape, straight up walls, and across ceilings. To get to the other side, the heroes will have to conquer their own senses and execute a series of well-timed jumps, occasionally returning to real gravity for death-defying leaps. Extra points if they have to backtrack, flipping switches to rotate segments of the path, breaking old connections and making new ones, all to eventually ascend via a spiraling walkway that corkscrews upward, into the ceiling.

> Sliding Blocks: An old one, but a classic, create a glass square with a raised lip or surrounded with an abyss and create three clearly missing indents in the floor. A single block lies on the stage at first which the adventurers can send flying in a straight line with a gentle tap to any one side. Only by navigating the block using the raised barriers can they steer it to its final resting place, summoning two more blocks they must use in conjunction so that they fill the remaining space. Complete the floor and a glass staircase appears.
>>
>>2205753

> Lights Out: A void of darkness lies before the heroes, a small glowing platform beneath their feet. An experimental sweep of their foot off the platform reveals a pit waiting for the careless, but in the distance is another platform that clearly marks the exit. As they approach the edge of the platform, a beacon like a lighthouse flares to life and casts a rotating spotlight into the dark, illuminating (if only for a brief moment) a stretch of hidden steps all poised in space. However, the observant will note something more sinister, twisting shadows appearing only to vanish when the spotlight passes.
> Essentially, the game is to memorize the platform configuration and then quickly sprint to a safe location before the light falls on you. The shadow monsters don’t materialize in pure dark. For extra cruelty, the spotlight may stop on any hero it spots traversing the void, summoning shadows to them if they aren’t careful to memorize the location of and duck behind cover.

> Four Seasons: Entering a room like a castle courtyard, the adventurers find the presumed exit to be a shear wall with an iron gate placed in it. Elsewhere in the room are trees and powerful looking vines. The trick here is that a series of pedestals in the room can be used to change the season, causing plants to grow, wither, seeds to drop, and through careful manipulation, they can plant a seed that will sprout into vines that wrench open the exit for them. For brute force adventurers, have a pair of golems ready to smack the crap out of them if they try to just melt the gate.

> Mirror-Mirror: A circular room has rectangular mirrors hovering over every surface. When the group reaches the center, an enemy appears in the one of them and hefts a spear/arrow, attempting to conceal its presence before hurling the weapon out of the mirror’s surface and at the group. The projectile is swift and deadly, with an uncanny knack for ending its trajectory by plunging into another mirror’s surface. The party will soon realize that this enemy in the mirror world cannot be attacked by normal means, as no attacks can affect the mirrors themselves. The only way they can defeat the creature is to stop its own projectiles and throw them right back, a task that becomes more difficult as the enemy continues phasing between mirrors, creating illusory clones, and adding more and more weapons to the mix.

> Eye-to-Eye: On the far side of the room, there is a locked door with what appears to be a closed eye in a glass diamond above it. A quick inspection of the room will reveal various other oddities, including blocks of ice and mirrors on stands. The real fun starts when they approach the door, and the eye opens, a hum filling the room and a light filling its depths as it takes aim at the group, who should quickly get into cover if they don’t want to be melted under a rain of laser fire. The key to this room is to bait the eye’s gaze to the mirrors, rebounding its energy at the blocks of ice and freeing the additional mirrors you need to reposition so that you can eventually return the laser directly into the eye it originated from. This freezes the eye in an open position and opens the gate.

so these are for Glass Spinner's dungeon? For a second I thought this was for our dungeon.

now that you mention it... I have a couple of slime-based puzzle room ideas that we could implement for Slimecrown. But it'll need tweaking to fit within the lore.

>tinted-view: A circular room within the slime-wizard's tower with visible skylight beams pouring through the tower windows on color filters with missing lens and a focal scrying pedestal where the scrying orb is missing. There are 4 glass slimes in the room. 3 of them are color tinted (Red, Green, Blue color tint) with the 4th one being completely invisible. Adventurers must filter out all of the light using the color tinted glass slimes in order to expose the fourth invisible glass slime. They then need to somehow swap out the tinted glass slimes with the (clear) glass slime in order to expose the key without accidentally killing the glass slimes (they're "fragile" prince rupert drops).
>>
I kinda want a really easy floor switch puzzle in a large room, but they're spread out and the room is filled with baby slimes that have a tendency to flip the switches and ruin the players' progress, but if you do anything bad to the babies Ruth will pop out and play brainball
>>
>>2206032
Maybe we should start using archive.is?
>>
>>2206092
have every single tile on the floor be a switch. the goal being to flip every single switch from X to O.
make sure that any and all attacks count as the trigger to flipping the switch.
>>
>>2206016
It wasn't the spoliering that broke the images. 4chan changed how it hosted its images, and it took Lord Licorice a while to notice and fix it. I dunno if any of the other archiving sites fared any better.
>>
>>2206016
Wait, really? Man, they dropped the ball on that. I usually read the old threads in warosu, though, and they're all fine IIRC. Also, the spoilered images show up with only slight obscuring.
>>
>>2205706
That's why we need to summon an avatar of Lady Sluttony to run the resort.
>>
>>2205753
>Vertigo
Switches should, when flipped in order, open a glass portal blocking the staircase. This limits but doesn't outright deny flight/levitation/antigrav shenanigans. Raid Mode: put a timer on the switches and gravity fields. Don't solve it fast enough: fall and start again from zero.
>Sliding blocks
Raid Mode: Blocks are fragile, friction changes based on color variations on the floor. Possible guardians patroling the 'maze'
>>2205807
>Mirror Mirror
Raid Mode: Some of the reflection's 'attacks' will actually heal it, be careful what you choose to reflect!
>Eye-to-Eye
Maybe include some other attacks than just lasers? Medusa's petrify is the goto, but that might be too obvious.

So far, Jeffery is just a raw power challenge. If we build the Hell Dungeon, we should put a note in Jeffery's treasure chest that reads "you might be ready".

On the subject of runes, did we get both of the runes that were unique to Glass Spinner's dungeon? And if so, what does the golem rune look like?
>>
>>2207683
>You'll have to bring something nice to the table.
Nice how? We have lot's of great ideas but not enough resources.
>>
>>2207740
I think that's the point, we have all these fancy ideas and we'd end up gaining the most benefit due to bringing the least resources to make it happen.
>>
>>2207740
We bring our knack for lore, and our lack of old habits and routines. We have monsters that are so highly motivated that they went out on a raid for gifts to give, and then threw a party while hosting a themed event.

Imagine the power and creativity of monsters helping to build their own dungeon.

That's what we bring.
>>
>>2207740

I think this (>>2207765) anon has the right of it. We wouldn't be bringing much more to the table than ideas at this point, and that's going to hurt us majorly in negotiations as well as getting potential business partners on board. When you think about it, we literally can't make a dungeon without the help of the other DMs because we haven't unlocked that ability for ourselves, which speaks to our relative standings and experience.

Opening a new dungeon. let alone a co-owned mega-dungeon, has to be a labor and resource intensive project with a high potential for failure or slower than desired returns as the service gains a foothold, making this a calculated risk they'd have to place on us, who just popped out of nowhere and set up shop.

Now, granted, our lore-based approach to dungeon building with cooperative, integrated services does seem to be doing well, but it's far from tested. In the end, that leaves us with just a few options.

> Put our money where our mouth is and buy in on even turns with the ludicrous price we couldn't hope to afford.
> Create an idea so amazing that they feel compelled to sign on (which requires satisfying their collective vanity without coming across as a leech or giving them a reason to just do it themselves with their plentiful resources).

OR

> Prove that our dungeon model works and build up our credibility not only with the community at large, but with the other DMs we want to be a part of this project.
>>
>>2207850
They're already ripping us off. I think spa and shop were recent additions to that suckabus and some other dungeon master.
>>
>>2207865

Red Widow isn't a member of their league, and for good reason. She seems to lack creativity, and be prone to childish tantrums. These folks that want us in their league (for the most part) have been pretty upstanding thus far.

I'm glad we got introduced to Glass Spinner this way and Lord Savage for that matter, but I had voted for Red Widow mostly to make sure any gold we pulled was out of HER coffers instead of any of theirs.
>>
>>2207882

>>
>>2207882

>>
>>2208039
Honestly, it's kinda annoying, but I can't help but take it as a positive sign. Our ideas were SO GOOD our long-established rivals are copying them.

I still wanna join the guild.
>>
>>2208077
Same. As long as they are okay with us having a sponsor.
>>
>>2208039
>>2208077

I agree with it being a positive sign. Not sure we cornered the market on merchandising beforehand, mind you, but it seems to be an effective tactic. Also, at the end of the day, imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Either way, I'm fine with her having a shop. If she opens a spa, we might have to talk, but even then, I think our lore building is our most defining feature.

Red Slut's gonna pay.
>>
>>2207643
Did we give her a rubix cube??
>>
>>2208140
I was hoping to give Glass Spinner some Magma slime enhanced stockings for some high grade Zettai Ryouiki shenanigans to keep her warm during the winter.
>>
So you guys want to brainstorm some ideas for the Slime dungeon?
>>
>>2208462
a prison for some skeletons, aka "undead adventurers" who died while locked up.
>>
>>2208466
I'd like to see some sort of slime that (in lore, anyway) uses adventurer's skeletons to mimic the previous adventurer who died fighting them. There could be a slime dominant one who mostly focuses on slime powers, a skeleton dominant one that focuses on physical or magical attacks depending on the last adventurer to fall to a slime, and a boss that is basically a symbiosis between the two types.

Also, we need to make a stained glass slime that can harden portions of itself into panes of glass and arrange itself like one of those church windows, with Water, Glass, Holy and Law runes. We can put it in a cathedral like section and use it as a substitute mini-boss with cleric powers.
>>
>>2208466
We should use skeletons in general for storytelling purposes. Like a skeleton of a dead fighter reaching for an item that is useful for a certain enemy for example.
>>
>>2208513
I've had ideas for making something like an invasion mechanic from Dark Souls using the Time and Space runes which is similar to how it works in DS.
>>
>>2208517
We should add skeletons to the comfy pit. Just swimming around, tempting you to lean in...
>>
>>2208542
I meant non monster skeletons. That allows us for to pull spoopy surprises.
>>
>>2207393
>bone rune.
Bone slime time
>>
>>2208462
Space Slime balefully scattering a party all over the dungeon.

Lootable Gem slime that act as shmuck bait unless to take it out first.

Adding glass walls to the ice golem encounter for confusion and pain.

Adding mirrors to the Gazer encounter so she can bounce shots.

Skeletons in the slime pit and strategically placed in the dungeon

Also we should make a law slime so Curi can make hax laws for lulz and counter her effects of using chaos slime too.

Maybe a few skeleton being puppeted by slimes.
>>
>>2208551
Thanks for the new fetish, asshole.
>>
>>2208683
That's fine and all, but... all of those changes ramp up the difficulty, and last time we realized that it was way to tough as it is right now. The last adventurer parties we got only barely made it by the skin of their teeth; making the dungeon -harder- would only affect our reviews negatively.
>>
That bone rune is gonna be great for our second floor. We're still making it undead-themed right?

May as well scatter a few skellies on the first floor too. Bonus points if they're hidden in secret passages.
>>
>>2208735
Enemy strength is a variable we can tweak, adding more features to the fights will make them more interesting and increase replay value.
>>
>>2208735
We could make some sword slimes and shield slimes for guards slime mooks. Maybe have Colt leading them in a charge against the adventurers if they dally too long (spa time is exempt to slimish response time)

Have a bunch of single rune slime mobs too.

Still want space slime, glass slime and gem slime though for Curi power up.

Also Larro we're missing electric slime, angel slime, devil slime and all the non slime beasties we made at the end of thread 8.
>>
>>2207643

>>

>>
>>2209132

>>
>>2208517
I like this idea.
We should have a skeletal copy of our first customer complaining about how back in the day everything was so much harder back then.

You opened the wrong door and you'd end up dumped into the room of the last boss and on top of all that, the people before you would leave messages to try and trick you into entering the suicide door.
>>
>We should have a skeletal copy of our first customer complaining about how back in the day everything was so much harder back then.
I'm just worried about losing our theme. We should kick the Gazer out, too. We're a Slime dungeon, ferchrissakes! We're not supposed to have skellys and gazers. Even our traditional Ice Elementals kinda ruin the theme.
>>
>>2209186
Slimecrown can have stuff other than slimes; the idea is just that slimes are a majority. I like a little variety, personally.
>>
>>2209186
The theme doesn't matter, it's just something that sprouted up because originally we didn't have any runes other then water. Stop taking it as gospel.

If people want skeletons or gazers or whatever, fine. It's better to have variety then stagnate anyways.
>>
>>2209186
We have made references to nonslime creatures in lore and the Thing in the basement is still a boss.
>>
>>2209176
PERFECT. They can serve as examples of the skeletons of those foolish/unfortunate to fall into the dreaded comfy pit.
>>
>>2209194
Maybe we could have the lore be about how they were few of the original minions that existed in the Dungeon of Pain before it's dungeon master caused a great calamity which drove almost every single monster into extinction.

After that great calamity, few of the slimes began to build their own civilization on top of the ruins. As the slimes expanded the dungeon, some of the older monsters ended up being unearthed and brought back to life from stone.
>>
>>2209213
We could also add how Slimes due to their low level might also some of the oldest dungeon constructs that existed even possibly predating the Dungeon of Pain as well.
>>
Is there somewhere where we have a lore repository I can look at? Something that has all of the ideas we've thought up?
>>
>>2209220
we don't have a lore repository. Larro does keep some of the lore in the Dark Souls flavor text style... but I'm pretty sure 95% of all the lore-related ideas are floating in the archives. You'll just have to hunt them down to get a general gist.

Alright. So, that's a lot of links to a lot of posts, but I think I have an idea for lore that would neatly tie in the ideas of the people who want a harder dungeon section and the people that want Slimecrown to remain consistent.

We've discussed before having a sewer section that helps ramp up to the ludicrous Jeffrey fight, and the possibility of a kingdom predating Slimecrown. So, how about this...

> The Sunken Kingdom

A long time ago, there was another kingdom where Slimecrown now stands. Its walls were high, it had great stores of mineral wealth beneath its foundations, and it flourished for many years until a great darkness rose up from within its depths.

A dark beast, unnamed and unknowable, awoke and in its wrath laid waste to everything it saw as a threat. Men, women, children, horses, even lowly chickens. The only thing that escaped its notice were the creatures even more humble than that. After all, who would suspect an ant or a gentle slime?

And so, it's task presumably done, the beast returned to its dark home and left the now ruined kingdom a hollowed out husk, certainly nothing a human would ever call home, but for a slime that didn't mind the rain in odd places, it was a palace.

As things go, one slime became several over time. They learned. They loved. They grew. They cherished the fruits of their labors and each other, and gave thanks in many a raucous festival. However, the echoes of new life soon reached the beast in the dark and rekindled its terrible wrath. It rose up from the dark past and once again began a terrible onslaught on all it surveyed.

The slimes were clearly no match for a conventional army, let alone such a terrible and ancient power. However, in their innocence and their aquatic nature, they saw a solution that had escaped their predecessors, summoning all of their individually feeble strength together to cause a massive flood within the castle walls.

The beast was many things, but not a fantastic swimmer. It was swept in an unstoppable tide from the streets it ravaged, pulled by a thousand and more tons of water back down into the wretched pit from which it came… and possibly beyond.

The slimes, wishing to ensure that it could never return, did not wait idly. They mustered their forces and sent them down into the dark to seal the creature once and for all. The losses they suffered were grave, but they succeeded, and to ensure no one tampered with the seals again, they once more conjured a flood to eternally submerge the winding paths of the undercity and the foul monsters that called it home. Tied to the very power of Slimecrown’s throne and the collective will of its people, it seemed assured that the nightmare would never again resurface.

> tl;dr
> Jeffrey was a dick and killed off the old kingdom, who had mines and dungeons dug beneath their city.
> He killed everyone, but not the slime(s). They weren’t worth the effort.
> The slimes inherited and empty, derelict castle and built a home.
> Jeffrey came up again, rampaged, and the slimes drowned his ass back into the underground.
> They then sealed him up and flooded the undercity again to keep all the bad stuff down there.
> Curi’s throne is what keeps the waters flowing that keep the flood there.
> Beat her, and you can elect to plunge into the undercity, filled with undead, corrupted slimes, and monsters.
>>
>>2209270
I like it, though I still want the second floor's boss (besides Jeffrey) to be Dr Frankenslime (or some other name) with the gimmick that you don't fight her, but an amalgamate monster made from defeated enemies. If they manage a pacifist run of the second floor, they fight Frankenslime herself in a puzzle boss fight, were they need to find the right damage types, bring down her defenses to hurt her, or deal with traps and room layout simultaneously.
>>
>>2209270
That actually fits quite well. I also wanted to add other stuff like blobfish, blobsharks, jellyfish, and other aquatic enemy types as well as a ship sailing section, island hopping, and giant sea monster combat. Hell we could even make it so there are several routes to get that final area.

>>
Thinking about it, I remember there was something about an evil primordial force or something that was why Oilivia is like she is and why Curi is like SHE is. Curi was injured and messed up from trying to protect Oilivia, but then Oilivia siphoned out the bad stuff and took it upon herself. Would that tie in well? I liked that.

Yaaaaay! Lore! Thanks QM! Its kinda hard keeping track of everything with the distance between threads...
>>
>>2209687
We need a great stone beast head placed somewhere.
>>
Honestly all this lore talk is gonna become our undoing when lets say we get a new rune and think up of an interesting minion, or maybe even a different theme.
We should just write our lore as open ended as possible so we can introduce and change stuff around whenever needed since everything we have going right now keeps getting changed as we earn more resources.
We really need to write lore only after we finish something, wether a particular minion or a themed area/floor and keep an open mind to any ideas we end up having.
>>
>>2209705
We have the "second dungeon" upgrade. Everything that doesn't fit the lore can go there.
>>
>>2209817
That's not what he meant. He meant that we might end up with consistency issue in our primary dungeon.
>>
Wait could we use the Plant rune to make plants that grow items that can be farmed?
>>
>>2209552
The idea was that in the lore, there was a Slime King who built the kingdom of Slimecrown that discovered the corruption of Jeffrey. The king mustered his greatest resources and allies to come up with a plan to defeat Jeffrey, but the plan went horribly south at the last minute. Forced to make a choice, the King sacrificed himself to make the initial seal by locking himself up with Jeffrey.
>note: lore can be subject to change to be more open ended.
>open ended version of slime king lore: All the adventurers and we have to know is that there was a slime king that ruled before Curi, and that he's either seen in the basement, or a ghost of him (read: non-interactable npc) could be seen roaming the castle grounds. Was he the first slime king? or was he one of many that came before? and is the look in his eyes one of pride or of sadness?

>>2209705
the lore isn't made solid until the dungeon mob/item related to it is actually created. All we can do is speculate, brainstorm, and hope Larro writes down what he thinks is interesting and maybe canonizes them in the quest session.

My suggestion was more or less aimed at creating a narrative flow that still allowed for other battles of significance to take place while giving a reason for Jeffrey to be confined past a harder, lesser seen version of the dungeon which Curi's influence restricts access to.

I don't know if I'm a huge fan of the Slime King, if only because that forces Curi to have romantic fixation on a slime she's never met, who is also dead, and I think that would be a raw deal. However, the fight to -keep- Jeffrey down below is a possible staging ground in lore for who died or was irreparably injured sealing what.

As for expanding the dungeon too far and breaking the lore, I think we really should be careful of that, but I also strongly believe that part of the appeal of a Dark Souls styled dungeon experience is the thrill of discovery and peeling back layers, traversing through sort of narrative acts which allow you to effect major changes to the very world you are participating in.

Draining away the water surrounding the castle to reach an all new, hidden depth seems like a good way to go about that, as well as add figurative and literal depth to the dungeon.

We don't need it immediately, of course, but when we finally reach our perfect formula for the first floor and are comfortable leaving it as is, I think creating a new chapter for practiced veterans of the first to explore is how you go about building a truly memorable experience. Especially if we hope to someday train adventurers who can beat Jeffrey, we need a steady ramp up that the present dungeon just can't offer without scaring off 99% of our customer base.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts and, again, I don't see a huge rush for such a project as necessary at this time.
>>
>>2210340
The appeal of Dark Soul is similar to a metriodvania game. Every boss you beat opens a shortcut that allows you transverse the world better, many useful item are scattered accross the world which require explore to find, and beating an enemy is more about skill than levels or how good your equipment is but those do help. Though we are likely to become more like Demon Souls than Dark Souls since Demon Souls was all about subverting the standards and breaking the rules of game design and Dark Souls was mostly refining the core mechanics but stripping down everything Demon Souls aspired to be until it became a glorified rolling simulator.
>>
>>2210340
We don't necissarly have to make a king slime. It could just be a 'buried in the lore, if you look in the right place you'll find his grave' kind of thing. Some place quiet and solemn.
>>
>>2210340
I'm not too big on a King Slime either. I prefer the other lore where it was just built up out of nothing.
>>
>>2210483
You don't get lore out of nothing. It exists to flesh out a setting.
>>

I too am not big on King Slime, but mostly because kings are usually considered to have higher rank than queens, and I don't want anyone to steal Curi's thunder, even if it's just in the lore. Slimes don't even need sex to reproduce, so there's no actual need for him anyway.

so a slime-version of King Hassan from Fate: Grand Order.

....
FUND IT.
>>
>>2211460
...YES.
But what would even be the rune combo for something like that?
>>
Since some people want a King character while others don't want him to be higher ranked or have relationship to Curi, why not make him an Old King, here before even the first slimes. Since we got the bone rune we could even make him undead, maybe something like a rival to Curi, dethroned but still powerful and attempting to hold onto power on the 2nd floor, maybe have like 2 sides of the second floor representing the conflict between the New Slime Royalty and the Old Undead King.
>>
>>2211580
I just want a boss fight that would be an inverse to curis.
Curi is the "big monster at the end of dungeon" fight, while I want to have a "fighting the boss/gwyn/artorias/gherman/soul of cinder" thats similarly difficult in scope, but a much more personal opponent that's more skill and tenacity over raw power like curi, although this boss would have that too. Again, just what I really want.
>>
>>2211585
In that regard our best bet would be to level up one of our minibosses.
Although i've always entertained the idea to make ms. bloops a boss since she is technically the oldest slime in the dungeon(maybe a secret boss if nothing else).
>>
>>2211591
I had that thought as well. But, if this is going to be on that 'second level' so to speak, facing the same character again, just stronger, would be boring IF they were the final boss. Using other slimes and bringing them back even tougher would be awesome for level bosses. our resident fuse-ies would make an AMAZING addition to such a level, with them able to go even stronger and be able to vary up their moveset and whatnot (especially if said dungeon would veer toward more skill in enemies rather than power)
Also,
>bloops being the first DLC final boss
Ya gotta wait until at least DLC 3 man, or the sequel.
>>
>>2211596
The Undead King i mentioned earlier would totally be a skilled duelist type that you mentioned, but with introducing him we could also cement the whole friendly npc's in the final boss fight mechanic we did with the princesses, but this time around having a whole different side instead of having slimes fight slimes. With the 2 factions we could have adventurers choose a side and fight said sides final boss. Maybe even have adventurers fighting against each other.
>>
>>2211596
Really, if you think about it, an inverse of curis floor would be more monstrous enemies rather than human like ones, with the final boss being the pure skill human type enemy. Could even work, given that said floor might comprise of bone, corruption, dark, and whatever else runes fit into that category.
>>2211604
I don't know about having the 'friendly NPCs' in the final fight thing with this kind of boss. On a floor vs floor thing, sure, but against just that sort of boss, no.
I really don't want him to be a 'bad' kind of guy, really. I initially had a thought of a skeleton who'd acquired a piece of the dead kings core, hence a reason for friction, but I don't like the idea itself.
Could just do as we always do and figure out the semantics later. I just want a cool jelly skelly sword wielding old man boss fight
>>
>>2211607
If the second floor is below, you could totally go with that.
Rather than being the king, king hasslime could instead be a friend, a knight, a bodyguard, or any combination of those of the original king. Original king died in battle, gives a chunk of his core over, the person vows to protect his grave for as long as he can against the corruption of Jeffery. Skin fades, muscles degrade, but bone remains, and with the slime core, he can take on slime properties and continue fighting the never ending tide of corrupted, and along with the ability to summon skeletal minions of all sorts, it seems he could protect forever. But no one can last forever and not fall. Only the desire to protect and fight remain, and during the battle, perhaps his sanity might return to him before perishing.
Its too dark to use in my opinion, but I'm sure there's something there some others can use. There's plenty of things that could be changed or anons could just outright discard this.
>>
>>2211616
Could go the gehrman route instead of the artorias one. An old bone slime tending to a grave with the promise to not leave and having his hands full already using his skele minions to fight against the ride across the entire floor, an area of the second floor horribly corrupted, and then you can return back and get a reward from him. But, should you chose to want to face Jeffery, he will stand in your way personally.
Enough possible lore talk for today, though. I rather save it for if (hopefully when) we do get a slime version of king hassan.
>>
>>2211616
This could be a good idea for the basement floor whenever we get to it, and it could also be a higher difficulty area than anything above it so we can prep adventurers for Jeffery.

>>2211607
You mentioning monstrous enemies gave me a thought that the second floor could actually be more humanoid civilised slimes, since they become more and more sentient/intelligent as they get more runes, and since a second floor would need to be harder, we could have more of said slimes there. The first floor would be more of our earlier creations or our weaker ones with maybe a couple more monstrous slimes added here and there with some of our minigames and puzzles maybe moved to the 2nd floor.
>>
>>2211625
By 'monstrous' I mean more by technique then by mentality and appearance. Curi falls into that category, with large sweeping attacks, weakpoints to target, shifting power sets, larger than average bodies, things like that. Could use corruption slime and fusion to make those, maybe.if I were playing DLC though, I'd prefer new enemies and while I'd appreciate remixed old ones, I want to see the new stuff.
And puzzles could actually serve a purpose for making it intentionally difficult to get to certain areas, to lock things in rather than keep others out.

Here's my take on King Hasslime.

King Hasslime isn't Curi's husband, but her great ancestor, the great slime who ruled over the original slime kingdom with a strong but gentle heart. When Jeffery rose up to destroy them, he and his most loyal knights led the charge to flood Jeffery down to the pits to protect all slimekind. Before he died of his injuries, he had his Grand Slimagus use him as the final piece of the seal they created so that he could guard his people, even in death. Being so close to Jeffery has begun corrupting him, even in death, making him akin to a mad beast using corrupted slime powers and savage attacks, leaping around the broken shrine unpredictably. After having been gravely wounded by the adventurers, the seal on him pulses, and it shows a more 'restored' Hasslime who thanks the adventurers for breaking him from Jeffrey's curse of madness and attempting to rid his kingdom and all of the gentle slimes who try to live in peace from this great evil that threatens not just Slimecrown, but the very world. He tells the adventurers that he wishes he could have been stronger for his subjects, but that this was all he could do for them. After expressing his gratitude he tells them that the only way to proceed beyond the barrier is to kill him to break the final seal, but that the seal compels him to fight to protect it, and he will not hold back. He then takes his stance and draws the Moonslime greatsword.

(Alternate take; instead of a long dialogue, the king could look surprised for a moment and then seem to notice his wounds-some broken cores for the first time, as if waking from a bad dream. He simply takes a long look at the adventurers, closes his eyes and lets out a deep sigh, saying "Thank you" full of emotion, dramatically drawing his sword and calmly taking his stance.)

No i get what you're saying but regardless of what creations we make i doubt it will rank higher than Curi, so we shouldn't be afraid of making new things. Ok, guys, there's something we need to talk about. Or rather, someone: Ruth. Judging by the last raid she seems to be about on par or maybe even slightly stronger than Curi in terms of raw power... and she's a single rune monster. Part of me is terrified of what she could become if we give her any more, but I think she's our only shot of pacifying and taking control of Jeffrey before a sufficiently powerful adventurer comes in and destroys him for good (he doesn't count as our monster, so he wouldn't respawn). Your thoughts?
>>
>>2208551
Something that hasn't been mentioned: bone means we can make bone *marrow*. Bone marrow makes blood cells.

Mix Bone and Water, and we can have a Blood Slime.
>>
>>2212231
I don't think it works like that. I think you need a Blood rune for a blood slime.

Then again, Blood runes should not be that hard to come by, right? I mean we could Rune the Dungeon Master's blood.

>I want a lake area, a flower field area (one that ruth plays baseball on and has to be wary of king hasslimes chastising)
reading this makes me want a room where adventurers must sneak by a sleeping King Hasslime without waking him up. They can "save" themselves from a TPK by getting a comfy slime to snuggle with King Hasslime, but it only works twice. If they wake the king three times, it's an instant party wipe.
>>2211813
>>2212463
I love this.
>>2212225
I think you're confusing raw power with technical ability. Ruth is a single rune monster which gives her a base level of 10 compared to the raw stat power that Curi gets as a 5-rune/lvl 50 monster. Ruth's terrifying factor is that Ruth has been grinding out weapon proficiency since she's actually equipped with an item rather than the bat actually being part of her being, which makes her a lvl 10 slime with God tier Sword/BaseballBat Saint weapon skill (a weapon skill typically found on lvl 100 adventurers).

And as to the matter of Jeffrey and your worries of Jeffrey being non-respawnable, you gotta remember that it may take MULTIPLE attempts in order for a raid party of adventurers to defeat Jeffrey. And even so it's very likely they're going to defeat him by the skin of their teeth. So any attempts that fall short of the party even defeating Jeffrey will net us an opportunity to register him as one of Slimecrown's dungeon cast since he(?)'ll be weakened far enough for us to do what needs to be done. And remember Moon Elf's acessement of Jeffrey's rune composition? she said Jeffrey is made up of so many runes that it reset her rune counter. So it's a good guess that Jeffrey is composed of 999+ runes with 90% of the runes made of "power" and "chaos" runes.
>>
>>2212969
>I think the reverse of the bone rune would be the "flesh/meat" rune if we go with the phrase "flesh and bone".
...so a meat slime, huh?
>I think you're confusing raw power with technical ability
Check Audit Quest 8. Ruth took out Marauder, Psion, Ronin and Wizard, and probably would have killed Cleric too if she hadn't completed the dance challenge on time. And that's when they were fresh. Curi fought them after a hard miniboss, took out Marauder, Psion, Ronin and Cleric but was defeated by Wizard and Sophie (though she did kill her once).
Call it whatever you want, but in terms of what she can do Ruth is around the same power level as Curi, if not stronger.
And as for Jeffrey... I'd rather not gamble. He's been a part of the dungeon for way too long, and we made him too integral to the lore, to risk losing him.
>>
>>2213141
It's honestly a pretty big catch 22. We need to control Jeffrey and somehow get him registered onto our dungeon cast in order to preserve the lore, but we can't honestly do so without risking the dungeon's destruction. And the only way to legitimately control him is by throwing adventurers which risks Jeffrey's permadeath. At the same time we saw what happened to Curi, Golem only managed to deflect a couple of tentacle whacks before getting instagibbed, and that speed runner only avoided certain death via frame perfect trowel deflection.

One of my thoughts on how we built-up Slimecrown in the first place is that we were trying to avoid relying Jeffrey's eldritch strength to insta-kill adventurers by putting a dungeon on top of the basement and expanding from there in hopes that the dungeon content we built is big enough and difficult enough that adventurers will be satisfied with just the surface content and completely forget about Jeffrey's existence. So then we'll need to figure out some way to revamp the lore and dungeon content post-Jeffrey's defeat. Our only problem is that our initial advertising pitch featured the existence of Jeffrey in the dungeon basement with dungeon lore hinting to Jeffrey's power compared to the rest of slimecrown. That and our Ultimate Treasure is in Jeffrey's room. We should move that treasure chest containing our ultimate treasure elsewhere.

Ruth's power is comedic timing, folks. I don't think we should write too many checks around her adorable mug holding a boss room on her own. Though, I'm all for giving her fancier bats for being such a good team player.

>>2211460
>>2211680

I think making the next layer of the dungeon a floor filled with dark, but ultimately noble defenders would be a decent step. As you get further and further down, the corruption of Jeffrey's power makes things more volatile and "wrong".
>>
>>2213303
It should really be thro ther way around. Or, actually, she could just be really really ancient. Like, dawn of man ancient compared to king Arthur's court which we have going right now, timeframe wise (Gilgamesh to king arthur). King hasslime should probably be remnant of what happened in curis past, but nowhere near as old as bloops. In fact the closest thry probably should be related lore-wise is 'they might both be slimes/know of each other' but thats about it. She's just that old.

hmmm.... what bat is Ruth currently equipped with? Was it space metal? We'll need to give her a baseball helmet for her second reward.

Question. When exactly did we get Ms. Bloops? Because I was under the impression that she was our first slime, the one that was there before Mary arrived, but I'm rereading Audit Quest 1 and apparently that was -Ruth-.
>>
>>2214260
The slime that appeared in the Cook's pot, maybe? Weird how she didn't count as part of our army. Fits right in with the "she was always here" mystique, tho.

I think so. Weird.
>>
>>2211813
What's the max limit again? Because I feel like he could use an allmighty rune in there too. If we ever manage to get one. Or power. And for a boss variant, one with him fused with a corruption slime (might actually make him weaker, as although he'd be stronger, he'd attack without skill or grace.)
>>
>>2214731

>>
>>2214796
Yeah, we need Dungeoneer III to make 7 rune monsters.

We don't even have 6 rune monsters yet, 7 rune monsters are not a priority. I'd rather spend the money on the Artificer, Mary needs to be able to defend herself, and since she stubbornly refuses to take runes, this is what it takes.
>>
>>2215442
For the same price, this has my vote.
>Demonologist III: Price to create demons dropped by 1 rune. 5 rune demons will cost 4, 3 will cost 2, etc. Demons can go on Expeditions to retrieve material for the dungeon if they are 3 runes or higher. Higher runed demons bring back greater rewards. G- 4000

Ms. Bloops is the one that was there before Mary arrived. She was kept in the back safe so that she could continue splitting to form water runes.

Then we find the Cook trying to get a slime out of a pot. The very next update... check the pic. We suddenly have 4 slimes, even though the text never mentions creating another single rune slime. And now Ruth has a name.
Incidentally, it seems like Larro came up with her name on his own. There's no mention of her name in the first thread, but she's right there in the OP pic of the second one.
>>
>>2215618
>>2215636
Larro's confirmed before that Ms. Bloops was the original slime we had. Her name came from conversations from one of the drawstreams, if I remember correctly.
This conversation has come up before a couple times.

Larry often makes mistakes.
>>
>>2215677
>>2215686
Guess we'll have to take it up with him. But hey, continuity errors happen, that's what retcons are for.
>>
>>2215690
I doubt anyone will want to retcon Ms. Bloop's position. Like I said, this has come up before.
It's also why she wasn't set as an NPC in the dungeon in the second thread. She wasn't meant to be in the dungeon at all, she was meant to be in the back splitting for runes.
>>
>>2215749
Like I said, Ms. Bloops position -is- the retcon. Otherwise show me where we created Ruth.
(I'm not against retcons, but I'm against pretending they never happened.)
>>
>>2215785
Because they did never happen. Show me where we explicitly sent out the slime who was suppose to be making runes.

Ms. Bloops was the slime in the back who was making runes. Mary already established she didn't want to risk it when she created Curi to go down into the basement. This is why Ms. Bloops wasn't registered for the dungeon or as an NPC and why it appearing in the dungeon was an emergency.
>>
>>2215846
I did show you, back in >>2215618
See the army count. And go ahead and check the whole thread, and you'll see we never created another slime that could be Ruth. But it seems you'd rather cling to the idea of being right than actually check the facts, huh?
>>
>>2215874
You say yourself here >>2215636 that the slime in the pot appeared even though there was no text saying that we created it.
Even though there isn't text saying we created it, it's implied that the slime that became Ruth isn't the same slime as the one producing runes. Hell, it even comes up in the second thread that Ms Bloops is the heirloom slime that was leftover in the dungeon.
This is why Ms. Bloops wasn't registered in the dungeon as well, because the production slime was never meant to be in the dungeon.
>>
>>2215948
>it even comes up in the second thread that Ms Bloops is the heirloom slime that was leftover in the dungeon.
Funny you keep saying these things while I'm rereading the whole thing. It doesn't come up.
I'm actually not saying we made Ms. Bloops. I think she's either the pot slime (and thus appeared out of nowhere), or a clerical error made flesh (slime).
>This is why Ms. Bloops wasn't registered in the dungeon as well, because the production slime was never meant to be in the dungeon.
Lily wasn't supposed to be in the dungeon back then either, but she's was the list anyway. Ms. Bloops wasn't.
>>
>>2215974
>she's was the list
she was on the list
>>
>>2215974
It does, stop reading just Larro's posts.
Lily was always intended for dungeon use, When Warrior entered the dungeon, we even attempted to send Lily out but she refused.
And again, Larro has directly said that Ms. Bloops was the original slime.

I don't mean to be insulting, but when did you start reading the quest?
>>
>>2216010
>It does, stop reading just Larro's posts
Non-Larro posts don't have any value as canon.

>And again, Larro has directly said that Ms. Bloops was the original slime.
Yup, so: error or retcon.

>I don't mean to be insulting, but when did you start reading the quest?
I don't actually remember. Around #3 or #4, maybe? I remember I didn't catch the first few.

Look, it's simple. There was one single rune slime in the beginning. At no point did Mary ever make mention of creating another single rune slime. She then gave a baseball bat to a single rune slime, then we find the Cook trying to get a single rune slime out of a pot, and then we have -two- single rune slimes.
That's the whole thing, really. We -still- have only two single rune slimes, and as far as I can find Mary never created any of them. When she arrived, though, there was only -one- slime, and she gave her the bat before the other one showed up. It's as simple as that.
>>
>>2216010
For what it's worth, I thought Ms. Bloops was the original all this time too. Until last night, when I re-read the first thread and found out I was wrong.
>>
>>2216077
>Non-Larro posts don't have any value as canon.
Sure they do. They show that the situation was brought up and cleared up in the stream that happened between Audit Quest 1 and Audit Quest 2. The same stream that Ms. Bloops got her name from.
Again, Ms. Bloops was always intended to be the original slime. This is why she isn't registered in the second thread, and why the people playing state her to be the heirloom slime.

If you joined around the third or fourth thread, you should remember the streams where this has come up. There were a couple after the one between the first two threads.
>>
>>2216115
>>Non-Larro posts don't have any value as canon.
Hell, expanding on this, Non-Larro posts have huge amounts of value as canon, seeing as the large majority of lore and information about the setting and the quest comes from either ideas in non-larro posts, or from discussion between Larro and others in streams.
>>
>>2216115
Non-Larro posts don't have any value as canon because they can be wrong. My posts and yours are non-Larro posts too, you know. Until Larro makes them canon, they're just people talking.

And stream or no stream, the original thread is right there, where I can see al this. Pointing to the streams doesn't make it go away.
>>
>>2216165
The original thread is there, and it doesn't go away. But it has been clarified and taken care of in the streams. That's what lorestreams are for in the first place.

But if you won't be happy until Larro is on, then there's no reason to explain stuff to you anyways.
>>
>>2216190
Look, if it was retconned in a stream, I get it. Just don't tell me it's not a retcon, because there's nothing in the thread itself to support it.
>>
>>2215482
So I guess we can all agree with getting this. Right?
>>
>>2215618
>>2215636
Ms. Bloops was the very first slime. Curi was created shortly after and, during one of her battles, a slime she'd created picked up a bat and swung it.

She didn't have a core or anything, shown by how she was quickly disposed of, but people seemed attached to her so I gave her one and she became a proper slime on her own. If it helps you can say that, between chapters, Mary recognized Ruth's usefulness and created a core for her.

Also, fun fact

The reason she's so powerful is because... She has not figured out how to equip the bat.

The Audit World doesn't treat it like a weapon and instead treats it as an object with physics. It's like the difference between getting hit by an enemy or crushed under a platform.

Trowel man used the same technique a few threads back.
>>
>>2217720

Wait, so if we gave her more runes would she still be able to do that, or is it one of those things where once you actually understand how something works you can't go back? Because we don't want her to actually become weaker.
>>
>>2217809
Wait, shit, I meant Curi, not Ms. Bloops.
>>
>>2217824
She would get weaker up to a point. right now she's smacking people around with physics objects. Actually making her swing a bat would be worse.
>>
>>2217837
Better not mess with her runes, then.
Also, you may have missed this >>2207253
is there a list of your stream results somewhere?

Be forewarned, people request the lewdest things in these streams.
>>
>>2217854
Don't worry, I'm fine with lewd.
Huh. Interesting how they do appear there but not on https://imgur.com/user/ikseez

not true, I request CUTE things sometimes!
>>
>>2217854
>>2217887
A lot of those make me wonder what exactly was being requested.

Are there other dungeon masters in other Guilds besides the guild (Toxic Sisters, Lord Savage, Glass Spinner, Slime Matron) aside from Red Widow? You said there were a few dozen in our immediate area.

>>2218052
You forgot Steve.

Whoops. Forgot her crown.
Also fixed up the halo's tilt.

BTW, it's not a retcon.

A thought about the plain rune. If I recall, the one time we tried using one was to see what sort of slime it could make, but nothing happened. There was no specific intent behind its use. With the idea of doing this, could one be used to make a weaker monster stronger without any other changes? Example: making a small slime into a stronger small slime rather than a big slime.
>>
>>2222188
We never used the Plain rune. We tried to make a 5 rune monster with Mundane runes, which Larro said were anti-magic.
>>
>>2222188

Just make a slime that nullifies fun, either via grappling or blasting enemies with a firehose of slime.
>>
>>2222261
Oh right. It's been a while.
>>
>>2222188
Since it's the opposite of fancy, I could see plain as a vague stealth ability. Like, difficult to notice around more eye catching things, appearing more ordinary despite how strong / how many runes the minion has, etc.

Could maybe work as a slime rogue?

"I have not had any problems with my own monsters, because I make sure I am more powerful than them all. I feel that that is the best way to become a proper dungeon master and final boss.

If someone had that problem, they could simply dismiss the creature and their problem would be dealt with. A bit harsh but a demon that is more powerful than you and out of control is a dangerous thing indeed."

>The Chef II- Can host Parties. Each party greatly increases morale and will add a multiplier of gold to the next dungeon done. Parties can only be held when a dungeon run is not being done. G-1000
Are you going to remember offer this upgrade along with the others next thread?
>>
>>2223185
As a purely fun holiday thread, no upgrades were to be done. next thread will be normal
>>
>>2222721
>>2223509
You're looking awfully Anonymous there, Larro.
>>
>>2223509
It's more you never offered this upgrade for every thread after it was introduced.

The golem rune wasn't obtained. It was just Soul, Glass, Alcohol, Space, Gem, and Bone runes.

>>2207740
That's for you guys to decide, of course.
I can't give away all the answers.

>>2223613
I post in other places on 4chan. I don't think they'd appreciate some random tripfag in the threads.

>>2223744
whoooops. Noted.

"I am, or was, a human. I fused my soul with a few runes to look like I do now. Almost all of us in the Dungeon Keepers used to be human. The Toxic Sisters, myself, Lord Savage. Now we are demons."
>>
>>2225828
Wouldn't Soul plus Earthx2 make a golem anyway?
>>
>>2225828
How were we supposed to solve the golem puzzle anyway? Would we have gotten the rune if we hadn't brute forced it?
>>
>>2225828
Have you seen Isabelle, she has runes but isn't a demon. She's a bitchin' cyborg with a laser eye.
