The dead are honored, especially if they died protecting others as Martyrs, I mean its the same way as it was back in my world. But the difference here is how they choose to celebrate them. Then again I guess this is just like pouring one out for your homies who ain't here no more. Yeah, this isn't too bad. Still makes me feel guilty with how he said it.

Armor descriptions as on the char sheet

A set of chain mail. Golden chains linked together with dull grey metal with glowing specks in it. Odd blue chunks of crystal grow from between the links and inside them, sometimes forming sapphire like and icy blue gems on her armor. It comes in the form of a chain Hauberk layed over a simple leather vest, leather pants with chains sewn into them with two greave fronts (made of the same material) set in front of them. As well as a pair of hardy leather gloves with chains set on the back

a thick, reinforced kite shield meant for knights, with her personal heraldry on the front of it. Made of a mixture of gold, dull grey star metal and living ore, the edge is sharpened and is lined with a sharp crystal edge

Over her robes and armor she wears a cloak with another hood, both reinforced with a thread of metal in the fabric, its a lighter shade of blue than her hooded robes, nearly white with specks of gold in it.

a thick, reinforced kite shield meant for knights, with her personal heraldry on the front of it. Made of a mixture of gold, dull grey star metal and living ore, the edge is sharpened and is lined with a sharp crystal edge. However the crone has touched the shield, making the metal appeared to be aged/tarnished, the crystals being a cloudy and white. The rivets seem to be made of bone. and the handle is shaped as two hands holding the wielder's hand. Set in the center of the heraldry is the crone's holy symbol, a skeletal hand holding a blooming rose.


Dust clings to the shield, and it is constantly cold, feeling....simply dead

"Wait, Grandmizer Cornibus' little ankle biter?" he asks, frowning before he laughs "My you've grown into quite the woman! if you weren't half my age I'd eh"

"Thas" ice queen says shaking her head as he laughs

"Just making her feel better about herself, some light teasing. You'd think I'd actually...ew" He says, frowning as he sees Erret giving him a death glare for both making a pass at me and for it being a joke "oh, right, forgot about her to. you mad at the flirt or that it was just a joke to break the ice? eh?"

"You're acting so unusually unprofesional" Alimofa groans as he shrugs

"Hey, I am allowed to be excited after being lectured by Dal'tross for days about how I need to be more accepting and other basic lessons from the scriptures" He sighs, his eyes narrowing "besides, she won't think I'm a death obsessed freak right"

He looks to me, I look away as I can feel his stare

"Master!" Erret gasps as Alimofa just stares at me as Thas chuckles

"Yes, but she is part of it" She says

"Its erret" I say kindly as Erret smiles and looks overjoyed

"Calm down Erret, he's just being nice" I say softly as she nearly squees, gripping her staff tightly as we walk behind the arguing knights "It isn't anything to start smoking at the ears over"

"I know, but he's one of the gods champions! its is a pretty big deal to be treated like that by one of them" She says, grinning before she frowns again and the little color she got in her face fades from it "At least for tainted like me"

"I know, but he's just being nice to you, and as rare as that is and it really shouldn't be, its still just being polite" I say sweetly as she smiles a bit, still looking a little too put out "but you are right, its still a real compliment from him, considering who he is. but don't forgot kindness shouldn't be kept from you and isn't something to celebrate when someone with some common fucking decency comes around"

And now her smile is back for real, dodged a bullet there. And after that I notice the two near demi gods arguing with themselves about what they should do, if we should come or if any of this is even necessary, and that makes me curious, terribly so. And because I want to annoy Alimofa a little more.

"Do you really think its that bad?" I ask as thas groans

"it shouldn't be, just burn his room and personal effects and it should be fine" He says calmly "Maybe bless the place for a day or two, it'll be fine"

"I'm worried about what's hidden, the books, the rites, we need to find anything that can be corrupting and deal with it" She says sternly

"He was a dire, not a demon or eldrtich" Thas says shaking his head

"Also you seem a little cranky, why is that if I can ask" I say with my trolling grin as he groans

"Well you see" He says pinching the bridge of his nose "My best friend found a girl who made a pact with a demon, he seems to think she was forced into it, I don't trust her but he's practically given her his blessing as the champion of all seven of the council to...I dunno, it just...the gods don't listen to her or see her for a reason. For Errt its because she's been shrouded, for her I think its cause she's been well....swallowed up"

"Oh, yes, Simon is always so forgiving" Alimofa says

" I haven't said anything to spiteful since he....well you know what happened" Thas says as we walk through a thicket of thorns and dead brambles, a busted gate sitting in front of an overgrown path leading to an now wild garden "Alright, don't touch anything"

"Wow, this place is" I say looking around at the broken fountain, fallen trees, wild looking bushes, the grasses that come up to my shoulders, the barely seeable roads and paths snaking through the little forest that's been made here, the blood stains and what look suspiciously like human bones. The cracked and fallen walls. Oh and look towards the house, over grown vines and a few smashed or dimly tinted windows "this place is a fucking shithole!"

"Yeah" Thas says nodding

"It....could use a little work" Erret says slowly "Well a lot of work, and language master, we're in good company"

"Sorry its a little surprising how horrible this place is" I say pushing my hair up and sighing "Not to mention that feeling like someone's going to stab me in the back"

"Yeah, this place is filled tragedy and...that feeling" Erret whimpers as Thas walks forward, while I make a mental note of what I need to change simply in the gardens "c..could I walk in front of you for once master"

"yes, of course, no need to ask" I say softly as I notice the knights are moving ahead "Wait, don't leave us in this deliverance looking"

they both give me strange looks

"this hellish place?" I ask as they shrug "sorry a little scatter brained right now, didn't choose the right word"

"don't touch a thing" thas says, pushing the door open, revealing a chandiler filling the front room with dim light, and various cobwebs, spiders and other little critters running back in the shadows. Also claw marks, lots and lots of claw marks everywhere.

"if you wander, tell me of anything foul you find" Alimofa says as she walks the other way from thas, and I realize I have no idea where to go. I look between them, rub my chin and smile walk over to the hallway thas walked down, stepping over the broken door laying in front of it

"Alright, lets find the bathroom, need to be sure the plumbing is okay" I say, looking back to Erret, trying not to look at the paintings on the staring eyes ....since that's all that's left of them "And we'll need to get some new windows....cleaners and"

"Alright, I can do it" Erret says simply, making stop dead in my tracks

"Don't fall behind" Thas says "Don't want to spend an hour looking for you in here"

Hades strode through a curtain of willow branches. "Brutus, there you are! The poor souls, I'll take them in while you stand gua--"

"IMPOSTER!" Brutus swung his spear slamming Hades in the gut so hard he doubled over.

Hades moaned. He lifted his head to face his guardian. "B-brutus, what are you doing?"

A fierce kick to the jaw sent Hades arcing through the air. He landed hard tangled in his cloak.

Nymella cackled. She stepped out from her hiding place among the rocks. "You are handsome but a fool, sweet Hades. With the amulet gone, didn't you know I had full control of my powers?"

"Of course. Did you think I'd let them burn you?"

"You'd have let them chase me with torches into the forest."

"After trying to persuade them not to burn it down," he retorted.

Nymella crossed her arms and frowned petulantly. "Well, didn't you wonder why I was pretending to be trapped then?"

"I told you that you could have it for a day." Hades struggled to pull back his sleeve. Dead vines wrapped his wrist where the tree griever should have been. "Nymella, you think the lord of the underworld could be fooled by this?"

"Spear him!" she cried.

"With pleasure." Brutus hefted his spear and advanced to where Hades was lying.

A twin spear burst through the flames of the fallen bough, struck the amulet around Brutus neck breaking the chain, and pinned it to a tree.

"Boss!" Crombe stepped through the fire carrying a shimmering mass under his arm.

Brutus patted the skin around his neck. "Crombe, you nearly killed me!"

"You can't be killed, idiot." Crombe offered a hand to Hades. "Boss, you'd better get them in there, this one under my arm is nearly gone."

Hades poked the space under Brutus's arm just to be sure something was really there. "My eye!" it croaked.

A twig snapped.


"Brutus, seize the drya--"

"Aleady done, boss." Brutus held tight on to Nymella's arm as her feet dragged over the earth, trying to pull her in the opposite direction.

Hades walked up to her curling a blackened finger under the tree griever. "Thank you, for holding on to it for me."

"This way!" a voice carried on the wind. "Careful now!"

"The villagers!" Hades snapped his fingers. "Come with me, all of you."

The dead, who up until this point had their backs against the cave wall intently watching the events that would decide their fate, followed Hades one by one as he ushered them into the underworld.

First was the goblin-creature, followed by the two blind parrots, the man with an arrow through his eye, and finally the elderly woman who shook Hades hand gratefully as she passed him.

Now there was a chorus of voices, and they were getting nearer.

"Quick, now!" Hades called from inside the cave.

"Uh, boss," Brutus said. "She's not dead."

Nymella's face was squished flat against an invisible barrier.


"Then kill her!"

Crombe snapped Nymella's neck and dragged her into the cave.

Daniel, the paper boy came choking into the light of the fire. "I've lost the feeling, I swear the death creature was just here."

The man in the longcoat arrived next. "Daniel, boy are you sure you saw it come this way?"

The mayor came wheezing around the corner. "I told you... there was nothing... up here."

"Right as always, mayor Ryan. I'm sorry Daniel, but the trail has gone cold. Let's return and help put out the fire. As the mayor said, no reason to worry about it here, the rocks will stop it."

The next day, the villagers had gotten the fire under control, and by the afternoon all but the farthest trees by the caves were put out. By some miracle, the forest was still in tact, in fact, though black with soot no tree had so much as lost a branch.

When the flames had finally died surrounding the rocks though, all of those trees had burned to the ground. The mayor stood alone on top of the hill with his hat held against his chest. Daniel laid two round pennies at the foot of the cave. But inside...

Hades sat on his giant stone throne in the bowels of the earth with a hand resting on his face.

He glanced over at the three deadlings guarding the entrance to the land of the living. Two were brawny guards, solid, immovable, standing at attention with spears ready, and the third was a beautiful dryad woman.

Hades sighed.

"Brutus, Crombe... Nymella. I'm going to take a walk. Make sure that no one comes in while I'm gone."

Brutus and Crombe saluted, but Nymella crossed her arms under her breasts and tapped her foot.

Hades smiled a charming half smile. He stood up and walked toward an arched caveway behind the throne. Once inside Hades stopped, crouched, and turned around. Placing one hand to the side of his mouth he said in a young woman's voice, "Oh Brutus, Crombe."

"Can it, boss. We've already got enough company out here,' said Crombe.

"Still think you can trick us with that old lark? We've got a woman right next to us, boss."

Hades found himself being lifted and dragged by the ear. "Ow-ow-ow, okay!"

Nymella pushed him back on to his throne.

Hades buried his face in his hands, "Kill her, I said. Why? WHY!? All I had to do was /take/ the amulet... "

"There, there, clever lord.'' Nymella patted Hades on the head. "You'll have plenty of time to think about it.
