You are William Pierce. Somehow, you seem to have ended up in the world of your favorite MMO, Elder Tale. You figure that you are either going nuts or this is some sort of crazy dream brought on by watching seven Isekai shows in the last 2 seasons… Either way, you figure you might as well enjoy it while you can. If this isn't some sort of delusion or dream, you can always just panic later when you are sure.

You stare into the pond and notice that you have fox ears on the top of your head and a fluffy tail swishing behind you. You guess that makes sense considering this is definitely your character, Will2Fight's body. It is a bit weird though, your face still looks like your own except for the color of your eyebrows and the fact that your beard is gone. Hmm.
Actually, looking at it more, it looks quite a bit better than your face in real life. No bags under your eyes, perfectly smooth skin, and your eyes are slightly sharper. It seems to be your face if you were 3 points higher on a handsomeness scale going from 1 to 10. Still not quite a ten, but that’s reserved for actors, photo-shopped pictures, average looking girls after 3 beers, and people who get plastic surgery.

The tail in the reflection swishes idly as you contemplate this. When you focus on it, you can feel it, and with some effort, you are able to move it around a bit.

You thought it before, but you think it again anyways. Everything about this is just too surreal.

You touch the ears on top of your head…
They are soft and Fluffy.
With some effort, you manage to swing your tail around and touch it as well. It is also soft and fluffy.
You wonder how the Fox Girls will look.
Yep, this doesn't seem so bad at all.

In the game, fox tails gain glowing magical tails while in combat, and you are tempted to see how this looks too…
You pick up a nearby grass rabbit and carry it over to the water's edge. It doesn't seem like it is even able to damage you at its level, as despite the fact that it is clearly biting you, you are not losing any hp. Apparently this doesn't count as combat…
You punch it with your other hand. It dies instantly, but that achieves the desired effect.
>>
>>2187201
"Wow" You say out loud.

That looks badass. 6 glowing blue tails have appeared behind you. They sway gently with no regards to the wind. A couple people look over at you with interest before they move on.

After about 20 seconds, the tails disappear again, so you try punching yourself.
You lose several hundred HP, but they show up again. Whats more, you definitely felt that.

You can't feel pain if you are dreaming, right?
You aren't actually sure. If you can't, you sure are taking this well. Or maybe you are totally losing it and trying to analyze things is just your coping mechanism? Maybe its an Asperger's thing.

As you walk, suddenly you hear a voice in your head.

"Hello? Can anyone hear me?"

You recognize that voice! Its Hiroshima! Is the party chat still connected?
You say "Hello?"
No answer.
You thin-
"Oh yeah, almost forgot! Just try thinking whatever you want to say while thinking of the party."
"Oh" You hear whisperer's voice exclaim.
"Neat." And GoDoG's.
"Wow." "Wow" You and 4Dank2Tank0 respond within a few second of eachother.
"This sure is convenient." Whisperer says.
"Yeh, one of my guildies called and told me." Hiroshima explains, "Apparently the voice chat still works, but now you have to think about it instead of say it. You can call your friends too if you press their name in your list."
You should probably try that at some point, you aren't sure who else ended up here, but it looks like there are a lot of people in Portage... If your brother ended up here, he is probably way worst off than you.
"On the topic of Guilds, do any of you guys want to join mine?" You recall that it is named <Kool Kids Klub> "If we are stuck here, we should at least try and find some friendly folks around us."
"Sure. I'm in. No way am I staying guild-less if we are stuck here." Without a second of hesitation, Dank Tank agrees.
"Cool, how about you guys?"
GoDoG turns down the offer politely "No thanks. I'm gonna join up with the Guild my main is in."

You aren't sure if you want to join…
This guy can probably help you out, he is definitely a smurf, clearly rich, a foxtail like you with some literally insane DPS, and his game knowledge is probably miles ahead of yours, but his guild is a worrying.

<Kool Kids Klub> is the /pol/ guild.

You never really bothered interacting with /pol/ or their guild before, but you know what the board is like.
"I'll think about it." You give a noncommittal answer
You aren't sure if you even want to join a guild… At least not yet. There are more important things to worry about, and you doubt the invitation is going to expire. You add Hiroshima and the rest of the party to your friends list since it is nowhere near full anyways.
>>
Which server is this?
Please do (not) be the BR server.
>>
>>2187210
No, we're American.
>>
>>2187204
Thinking about your options as far as guilds go, you could definitely get into <Touch Fluffy Tail>, they have invited you several times before and they are FULL of Fox girls! And other fox guys... They are known for re-rolling Fox Tail characters until they manage to get a good combo, so like 90% of them are probably smurfs. On the other hand, maybe you should try to join the <Mourning Star>s, they are the strongest Player-Killer-Killer guild on the server and have tons of guys in every city, half of them are maxed, and nobody ever messes with them either since they always bring a goon squad. There is also the production guilds like <ProductionHo!>, <Grand Junction> and the <49erS>, who would probably be the best bet for economic safety… And when you think about it, even the <Kool Kids Klub> might be a good option since it is full of other channers, and besides not having to worry too much about fitting in, you KNOW that half of those fucks have probably been waiting for something like this to happen. In the end, your list of guilds is nowhere near exhaustive either, there are tons of smaller ones and you might even want to make your own eventually.
You are broken out of your contemplation when Whisperer apologetically says "I'm already in <Medica Magica>, Sorry."
The conversation goes on and you start walking on towards the city center again.
"All good. Do you know if any of them are in town?"
"No, why?"
"Apparently the Transport gates are down."
Wait, what!?
"Shit, really?" GoDoG asks with a hint of dread.
"I haven't checked Portage's yet, but apparently Big apple, Chasta, and Boulder are all down. Odds don't look good."

"Fuck!" you yell loudly. Several people turn to look at you for your outburst.
You start running.
You DO NOT want to be stuck in Alaska! Why did you have to be here dammit? Any other city is within relatively easy distance of the others, but the closest city to Portage is fucking Cascadia, all the way on the border between Oregon and Canada IRL. Even if the world of Elder Tale is only supposed to be half the size of Earth, and who knows if that is even true anymore, it would take days to make that trip in a car! That isn't counting the fact that there are 4 raids between here and there. Sailing is almost definitely a no go, the raids in the ocean around here are ALL over level 85, and to make matters worse, you aren't a sailor, don't know anyone with a boat, and have never done them before.

As you panic, you reach the town center. Right in front of the guild hall, a massive circular frame stands on a pedestal. It is surrounded by a huge crowd of people.
You push your way through them until you can get a look at it…

You are fucked.
[ ] Observe the crowd. Try to remain calm.
[ ] Call your little brother to make sure he is OK. Your friends list says he is all the way in boulder…
[ ] Panic more.
[ ] Seal away your fears. Sign the unholy contract. Embrace the Asperger's…

As fucked as you are, at least this is something you can probably deal with. Maybe. Or maybe you are just trying to escape from reality a bit. Either way, you open up your friends list and search for your little brother's name, Omegaton. There it is, you select it and hit the call button. A short ringing sounds in your head.
He picks up before the second ring finishes.
"You Ok Dan?"
No response. Oh wait, you should probably tell him he has to think it…

"Think it, don't say it."

"Oh, that’s pretty cool." He sounds surprisingly calm. "You are here too then, right?" He asks.

"Yeh." You answer, you had the feeling he would be panicking more, but you are glad that he seems alright so far.
"This really isn't a dream, huh?"

"What the hell else could it be?"

"A nightmare." He says. You realize that his voice is shaking. Maybe you just didn’t notice it before and he really is freaking out...

"Dan, its all gonna be-"

"Haha, kidding. This is fucking sick."
Never-mind. You aren't sure why you were worried in the first place. Your brother is a lazy idiot who only plays games all day and never goes outside.
You like games, love them even, but at least you have a moderately decent life outside of them. Dan just stays home all day streaming games from his apartment ever since he dropped out of College.
You suppose it is a dream come true for him to end up in one.
>>
>>2187418
"So, will you be coming to meet me or am I coming to you?" he asks nonchalantly.

"I don't think the answer is either of those man. Transport gates are down."

"What really? Jesus, and you are all the way in Portage? Shit dude that sucks."

"Yeh. I'm Boned."

"100%"

This isn't helping you feel any better, but at least he is doing alright.

"I'm gonna go try out some stuff, talk to you later. Try not to freeze to death"
Click.
He hung up on you. Cheeky bastard…

Welp. At least he is alright.
You focus back in on your situation. You are standing in the middle of one of the most remote towns in the game. Its cold as shit, and the mob of adventurers around the portal seems to have gotten more rowdy.

At least you aren't panicking as much anymore. Even if you and him are stuck here, Dan is still the same idiot you know he was. Such a common thing calms you down immensely.

There is a group of people up on the pedestal. Wait, you recognize that one, it’s the NPC from the main storyline in this town, whatshisname the sage who channels the Midnight Sun!

Looks like he is talking to some adventurers, since when do NPCs do that? Are NPCs different now too?

Whatever it is, it is probably something important. You squeeze through the crowd and get closer to the portal pedestal. Up on the pedestal, there are four people. You look at their status bars:
<Dorf Fort> Greysmith, Level 12 Guardian, Level 90 Engineer, a dwarf.
<Citadel> Allbright, Level 87 Cleric Level 83 Engineer, an elf.
Paradigm, Level 67 Enchanter Level 31 Engineer. A loli-style female dwarf.
And Last but not least, the NPC Half-Alv, Terril, Sage of the Unsetting Sun, Enchanter Level 71.

Back when the expansion that made this area came out, he used to be higher than the max level, but now the majority of the gathered adventurers have levels that dwarf his.
The three seem to be discussing something to do with the portal, so you listen in.

"What are you talking about?! Why would a Lever cause the portals to start working again?!" The Half-Alv protests loudly.

You notice a lever attached to the portal's frame that definitely was not there in the game.

"Hey, Calm down." Paradigm says. She sounds like an asian girl you knew back in high school. "If It works it works, if it doesn’t, it doesn't."

"Of course it isn't going to work!" shouts the sage. "The arcane devices behind these portals are far more complicated than a simple lever! What in the Wen's name gave you the idea that this was a wise idea?!"

"Hey buddy, we don't know if it's wise or not, but if you are telling us that you dunno how to fix it, at least it is an idea!" the dwarf says exasperatedly. You guess he was the one who put that lever there.
Allbright seems a bit apprehensive to take a side.

You ask another onlooker what is going on, and they tell you that apparently someone called MercuryHat called Greysmith and told him to put a lever on the portal. Apparently someone down is South Angel came up with the Idea of putting levers on all the portals and pulling them at once to restart the network.

You honestly have no idea how that could accomplish anything until you hear the dwarf continue.
"Listen, don't feckin touch it and we are all good. S'not like we can actually pull the damned thing anyways." Apparently he doesn't know either.

[ ] Step in and side with the Dwarves
[ ] Step in and Side with the Sage
[ ] Keep watching, this is interesting.
[ ] Levers definitely couldn’t be placed on the portals in the game, maybe your subclass can do something else?
[ ] Go do something else, you aren't an Engineer anyways so you doubt your input would help much.

Seeing the spectacle taking place here, you realize that apparently things work different than they used to in the game.
When you think about it, it was fairly obvious considering that you could do damage to yourself with your own punch earlier.
On that note, you wonder what your skills can do and if they changed in any way…

Your Subclass is…
Combat:
[ ] Acrobat - gives a bonus to dodge, a common monk subclass.
[ ] Berserker- Gain a Frenzy skill and lifesteal.
[ ] Duelist - Better 1v1s
[ ] Rune Knight- imbue runes on equipment for more various effects
[ ] Survivor- Resistance and dodge up at low hp
[ ] Tracker- Sneak and Move Silent, can hunt certain hunter creatures. Tracks targets you damage for a while.
[ ] War Priest- Gain some Melee attacks that heal allies.

Production:
[ ] Alchemist - Make potions
[ ] Blacksmith - Make metal objects
[ ] Brewer- Make Beer
[ ] Engineer- Make devices and machines
[ ] Spelltheif - Scribe that does not require INT, but has its power determined by the number of magic users you have killed

Roleplaying:
[ ] Gambler - Better luck in some quests and occasional lucky hits in combat
[ ] Nomad- Several low tier gathering skills, bonus to mounted speed.
[ ] Sailor- Captain a ship

descriptions indicate what you know they did inb game with a few exceptions

If we have to simplify things, i might just include AA damage in the skill itself and lower the number of skills. The point of monk is to make cool combos, so i tried to fluff a skill-set that could let players do it.

Most classes tend to be alot more straight forward and are generally easier to manage.

Your subclass is Brewer, and you could really use a beer right now. In fact, you could really use something quite a bit stronger than a beer right now.

You head to the public workshop area where there are several tables that people can use to train their subclasses. Inside, it is more or less empty. Apparently most people aren't really thinking about this kind of stuff at the moment.
Its probably the Asperger's.

You go over to the brewing stand. It looks exactly like it did in the game. You open your menu and select brew. The items disappear from your inventory like normal and some steam comes out of the top of the stand. It will take a minute or two to finish.

While you wait, you notice someone else walk into the workshop. Its Paradigm, the dwarf girl.

"That pompous asshole! Just like in the dam quests! I knew we shouldn't have let him mess with it!" she complains loudly to herself.

"Whats all the fuss about?" You ask the distressed girl.

"The sage destroyed the lever we put on the portal." She huffs.

"Whats wrong, its just a lever, right?"

"Well yeh, but now I have to go make a new one while they go on arguing without me! "

"Do you actually want to argue with them?"

She stares at you for a second. "Good point."

"You should probably thank him when you get back."

"Nah, fuck that guy, fuck his quest line, and fuck Portage."

"Agreed." She has a point. As powerful as the sage was supposed to be, he was a huge dick. He never told you anything helpful at all and just kept insulting you and yelling at you the whole time. You basically had to find out everything about the story line here through side quests and dungeons while he used you like a lackey.

While you talk, she has already finished making her lever, it is a quick to complete recipe.
"The fuck is this?" She yells

"What?"

"Its different! This one has a gear on the back! The one I had left from before was completely flat!"

Hmm. That’s interesting.

"Does that make a difference?" you ask.

"No clue." is her answer.

"Want a Drink before you go? You look like you need one…"

"Do I even look old enough to drink?" she asks.

"Good point. Nevermind."

"That was a joke. I'm 22 Stupid tiny ass body. Why did I have to choose a dwarf, I look like a kid." she sulks.

Oh. That makes sense you guess, its kinda hard to get used to. You have a fluffy tail, she is a loli, and you have seen several cat people who are more cat than people. You feel like you got the good end of the bargain on this one.

"In that case, cheers." You say handing her one of the steins of beer you produced and then clinking your own against it.

She takes a sip "Haha, real funny."

"What?"

"I told you, I'm 22! You didn’t have to give me water!"

"No, that’s definitely beer. I literally just brewed it. You cant even get water out of a brewing stand."

"Alright, wanna switch then?"

"Sure, why not." Is this some kind of elaborate joke she is playing on you?

You take a sip. Yep, that’s water. You drink some more just to make sure. Still water. Well, that’s depressing.

"This one is water too! What the hell?!" she shouts after taking a gulp of the drink.

You look at the two beer glasses. They definitely look like beer, they are even frothy with carbonation.

You take another sip of yours and she does the same. This is a fucking mystery. Its still just water. Completely normal water. Not even a hint of carbonation.

"Try a different drink?" she suggests

Might as well.

You two wait a couple more minutes as the brewing machine steams, and when it finishes, you take two cups of vodka out of it.

You hand her one. "Count of three?"
"You got it."
"1, 2, 3!"
You both take a shot. It is water.
"God dammit!" you yell and throw your glass onto the ground.

She does the same with a disappointed sigh.

You are producing beverages that you have the level for.
Beer and Vodka are actually fairly low level drinks, with beer actually being level 1. They are use to train the skill and can be sold to NPC stores to recoup some of the material costs. They are also used as ingredients for some higher level drinks and the occasional potion, such as the dodge potion.

Some of the beverages you can make do that kind of stuff, some sell for relatively good values, some are quest items, and some gave special emotes. There are a few other various things you could do with the class, like make some extra money while offline by signing up at a bar as a bartender or brew explosive kegs that can be used by sailors.
The level 90 Item, Stein of the Gods is a Phantasmal class offhand "weapon" that is popular with mages because of the massive mana regen it gives. It also makes you walk with a funny animation.

As frustrated as you are, you manage to remember what the girl was here for in the first place. She was getting a lever for the people arguing at the portal.

"Hey, didn't you need to bring them that at the portal?"

"Oh yeah, right, thanks. If you find something worth dinking, call me, alright?"
She adds you to her friends list and a window appears in front of you, which you accept.

"Actually, I'm kinda curious about this whole lever deal anyways."

"Wanna come?"

"Sure, why not." you reply. "So what started the whole thing anyways, from what I heard some dwarf in South Angel told some dwarf here that levers can restart the portals, anything else?"

"Nah, that’s pretty much it. They asked if anyone in the crowd had a lever on them, and I was grinding them right before we got stuck here so I gave it to them." she explains. "As soon as he put the lever on the portal, the sage came storming out and started yelling at us about magic circuitry or something."

Hmm. "Weird."

"Yeh, that’s all I got out of it. I can't tell if its actually a clever Idea or just retarded." she says shaking her head.

The two of you walk back to the town square, when you get there, there are several differences. First off, the crowd has almost completely dispersed, save for a few people to dejected to care or to interested to leave. Second, the portal and the pedestal have been roped off. Third, there are several <Morning Star>s trying to contain the situation.

One of them, a Wolf Fang level 90 Monk, 90 Tracker named Wherewolf is holding Greysmith off the ground with one hand, the dwarf does not look pleased at all, but despite his maxed subclass, he is only level 12 and cannot even compare to the Wolf Fang in terms of strength. A human Level 90 Pirate, 90 Sailor named CaptainCrunch is restraining the sage on the opposite side of the plaza. Between the two groups, a half-alv level 90 Enchanter 90 Strategist named OrbitalBlur is taking a statement from Allbright while a familiar looking elf, level 71 Assassin 69 Spelltheif is taking notes.
>>
>>2188662
You walk over to Emendis. "Yo dude, whats going on?"
OrbitalBlur gives you a bit of a nasty look when you intrude, but goes back to listening to Allbright.

"Cant talk, I'm busy right now." OrbitalBlur glares at him when he answers you and Emendis makes a shooing motion with his hand.

Meanwhile, Paradigm seems to have been caught by two other <Morning Star>s as she was going to put the new lever on the portal.
"Please stay away from the portal." one of them, a druid tells her.

"Why the hell should I?" the dwarf girl asks him.

"OrbitalBlur's Orders."

"Who the hell put him in charge?" She yells at the druid.

"Brimstone."

"Ok, Ok, then in that case, Who the hell put him in charge?!" she yells louder.

"It was a vote."

"By who?"

"The whole guild."

"Oh, Ok, I see. THEN WHO THE HELL PUT YOUR DAM GUILD IN CHARGE!?"

The druid doesn’t seem to have an answer for that, so the other Morning Star who is holding onto her arms from behind interjects. "Listen, I don't know what your problem is, but we are just trying to stop these two from killing each-other. The Guardians already got summoned once in the north of the city today, everyone is stressed, just let us deal with this, please." He lets go of her arm.

"Ugh!" She throws her hands in the air in frustration and leaves.

<Morning Star> is definitely overstepping some boundaries here, but you can tell there is fuck all you or her can do about it.

"Sure. Sounds like a wonderful time."
The two of you start to walk towards the outskirts of the city.

"Hey, quick question, why is everyone in this city such an ass hat?"

"To be fair, a lot has happened today."

"True." she says. "Alright, if that’s your reason, than why are you still acting like a decent person?"

"I don't think I have the social grace to act like a dick that effectively."

"Pfft. Does anyone who plays this game?"
She has you there. You try to think up another reason. "Uhh… Maybe it’s the wisdom score?"

"Hmm, that is just dumb enough to be reasonable. If levers are different and beer tastes like water, maybe all the game stats are actually effecting our personalities?" You don't really feel any wiser than normal though, just oddly calm about the whole thing.
"Then again, that doesn't really make sense under scrutiny either." You say. "The sage and that Morning Star enchanter definitely have higher wisdom scores than me.

"True."
You reach the city gates and head outside onto the windswept fields that surround it. Its quite a bit colder out here than it was in the city proper. That gives you another idea.
"Maybe they don't like the cold?"

"But the Sage has lived here for like 15 years if you go by in game time…"

"Yeh, but he always just sits in front of the fire, right?"

"Good point. I wonder if the NPCs just remember standing in the same place for year after year or what?"
"Maybe that's why the sage is so grumpy? I would be grumpy too if I was forced to stand in one spot for more than half of my life."

There are plenty of mobs around here, but the closest ones to the city are really low level at only around 60.

You walk up to the moose. It seems wary of you. You scroll though your menu and select Taunting Shout.

You yell loudly at the moose and a wave of red energy flows out of you. The moose snorts and charges at you, all fear and hesitation gone. You deftly catch its antlers in your hand and hold it in place. Bully moose may be level 60, but it is still just a resource mob. Its strength pales in comparison to yours, it doesnt manage to move you even an inch, and you barely take any damage. 304 HP falls off your health bar despite the fact that you caught it. You guess that means that technically counts as getting hit…

The Dwarf girl raises her staff and selects something on her menu, a small ball of whitish blue light shoots out of the tip of her staff and splashes into the moose. Around 1500 health falls off its health bar, leaving it at roughly 3/4 remaining.
Paradigm quickly scrolls through her menu and presses another button, a circle of light surrounds her for a second. She scrolls back through her menu again and unleashes another light bullet. 990 damage falls off the bar, leaving it a bit over half.
You know this build, she is a sprinkler style enchanter. They are supposed to shoot Pulse Bullets super fast by spamming it and Cast on Beat. But it isn't working. From what you heard, she should be able to fire roughly one every other second. It took her roughly 10 seconds to fire two. You are pretty sure that the cooldown on Pulse bullet is lower than that without even using Cast on Beat.

This is more for Paradigm to work off stress than for us to. We ought to keep our damage-dealing to a minimum. Conversely, we have a bunch of damage mitigation skills.

Indomitable is more of a damage dealing skill since you can get your hate high while tanking with amber elephant for a few rounds, then switch to Tiger Stance and make lots of auto attacks that proc Indomitable damage without taking the extra hate damage.

Enemies who hate you more do extra damage based on how much they hate you. Indomitable turns off that extra damage they do and makes you do extra damage based on it.

83, success

You scroll through your skills to find Amber Elephant stance so you can make sure she doesn't take hate.
With a press, your body shifts into a more forward leaning pose. Is that really it? These menus are so fucking clunky! Can't you just do that without clicking a button!?
An Idea hits you.

You try it by thinking of your indomitable skill, and it seems like you know how to use it instinctively. Power wells up in your muscles and you are surrounded by golden light. Looks like it worked.
You use your Shadowless Kick, driving your foot into the moose's stomach. It deals pretty low damage, but that’s fine since you are just trying to help Paradigm let off some steam anyways. The moose is in the yellow, just above half HP.

She seems to have realized what you did since you just used two skills without pressing anything.
She fires off a shot. "AHA! Sweet!" She glows briefly, fires a second one, glows again, and fires off another. The moose dies as it is pelted by light.

"That is so much better."
"Yeh, you're telling me."
"If we had to keep dealing with those fucking menus, this would probably be just as stressful as being bossed around by <Morning Star>" she says thankfully.

You keep hunting a few more of the monsters around this area, then split the pelts, antlers, and meat you got. You wonder if you can do anything new with them too.

"Ah, I'm Starving, wanna go get something to eat?" she asks after a while.

[ ] "Lets try cooking some of the Moose Flank we got."

Sure, I haven't eaten anything since breakfast before we got stuck here."

"Same here. Lets go grab something from the Auction House. That will probably be way cheaper than the NPC shops" That’s actually pretty good idea.

The two of you make your way back to the main plaza. Looks like <Morning Star> has packed up and except for one guy watching the portal while eating a sandwich and crying.
You feel kinda sorry for him, guess <Morning Star> are dicks to their guild mates too…

You head into the Auction house and get in a line for a booth. That’s inconvenient, when it was a game people could just stand on the same square… You feel like you will be seeing a lot of lines in the near future.

Eventually it is your turn. Only took 30 minutes of waiting. Maybe you should have gone to an NPC shop… At least its cheaper here. You buy your choice of meal, a Bully Burger and a glass of Moose Milk, and hand over 2 gold to the counter lady. She smiles and thanks you.
Paradigm got sushi and some kind of soda, looks like you were right with the guess that she was asian. Either that or she just likes sushi.
The two of you head out to a bench.

"So, what do you think about all this?" You ask looking to make conversation.

"What?"

"You know" you gesture around at random, "being in Elder Tale."

"Honestly, apart from the cold, its pretty fun." she says smiling.

"Yeh, I was basically thinking the same thing. I mean, its not like you can shoot magic or I can smack a moose around in real life."
>>

"Right?! Its awesome!"

"Honestly, if we really are stuck here, I don't even know if I will miss home."

"Eh, I wouldn't go that far…" she says hesitantly, "what about your family?"

"My brother is here."

"And your parents?"

"Maybe after a while." That is a lie. You remember how they kicked you out of the house when you failed out of college. You don't ever want anything to do with them again. Especially after you managed to get back on your feet and start going again. "You?"

She probably sensed that was a touchy subject, because she cant help but frown a bit. "I'm an overseas student, so I haven't seen them in a few years anyways." is all she answers.

"Hey, no point in worrying about things we can't do anything about, right?" You try to lighten the mood again. "Lets just enjoy it while we can."

"Yeh. No point in worrying. Lets eat."

You take a bite out of your burger. The flavor gushes into your mouth.

Use a brew station created by a engenier. Also if we use our instict like we did with the battle skills most likely we will know how to brew beer. The item description also has the recepie for it.
>>
So about brewing it's 'basicaly' a five step process:

>Malted barley is soaked in hot water to release the malt sugars.

>The malt sugar solution is boiled with Hops for seasoning.

>The solution is cooled and yeast is added to begin fermentation.

>The yeast ferments the sugars, releasing CO2 and ethyl alcohol.

>When the main fermentation is complete, the beer is bottled with a little bit of added sugar to provide the carbonation.

Of course this is overly simplefied since there is tecniques to avoid spoilling and the instruments required for the process. But hopefully we can do the same thing using the npc's already existing brewing facilities.

Thread 1 Session 2
Something is very wrong with this world.

In fact, when you think about it, there are many things wrong; the cold, the monsters, the weird levers, the broken menus, the atmosphere of misery that pervades the city, and of course the fact that this is literally the world from a video game.
None of those things are what you care about right now though.
Your problem is far more sinister in nature.

As if the awkward comments about your family weren't bad enough to ruin the previously jovial mood, after taking a single bite of your burger, you almost feel like you are going to throw up. Despite its perfect appearance, this burger tastes more like the box that burgers usually come in at a fast food restaurant than an edible object, much less a burger.
You immediately spit it out.
Paradigm is watching you. Clever girl… She hasn't even taken a bite yet! She was waiting! Watching you! Letting you step on the landmine! You feel sick. Mostly physically so, but still!

"How does it taste?" She looks quite smug.

"Delicious." you say throwing the burger on the ground and stomping on it.

"Somehow I got the feeling it wouldn't taste like normal, but that reaction makes me think its way worse than the beer, huh?"

"Yeh. Its like eating soggy cardboard."

"Eww, that does sound awful…" she says picking up a piece of fish with the chopsticks that came with the plate.

She looks at it. You look at it. It looks delicious to you. Whoever or whatever caused this Is a cruel bastard and/or force of nature.
She delicately bites off a piece of it and immediately spits it out as well.

"Jesus, I think I would rather eat the chopsticks!"

"Same."

"Now what? I'm still starving and there is no way I want to eat this shit!" She whines miserably…
[ ] Buy some fruit from an NPC stand nearby, maybe only adventurer made food is tasteless?
[ ] Drink water beer until you feel full? You have a ton of it in your bank, and at least water it is better than cardboard.
[ ] Try cooking something like you would IRL. Maybe it tastes like cardboard because it was made with the menu?

"Maybe the NPC food still has taste?" you say. So far you have only eaten food produced by adventurers, and it hasn't been any good.

"Makes sense," she says "I mean, they had to eat before we came here, right?"

"Might as well try it." you say walking over to a nearby stand.

The stands are lined with fruits, you look through them and pick out a couple of shiny white apples.

In the game, the sage gave a quest to go to Johnny Appleseed all the way in the frontier near brotherhood and ask him for an apple that can grow in the snow since the people stuck in Portage had no fruit to eat. These winter apples are the result. You can use them in several level 60+ recipes like White Cider and Winter pie. If you didn't know that it would just end up tasting like water, you would really have liked to try making some winter cider…

You sigh and pay the shopkeeper 80 gold. Paradigm holds out her hand and you put the apple in it she puts 40 gold in yours. You wonder if the trade window still works if you can just trade like this.

"Alright, you first this time."
"Fair." she says and takes a bite.
She chews it…
And takes another bite.
"Yeh. That’s definitely apple flavor! It worked!"
"Woo!" you yell excitedly as you take a bite of yours.

After you eat them, you suggest going to an NPC food shop for a real meal and she agrees.

You both go to the inn and get some more bully burgers. They are about 100 times as expensive as at the Auction House, but if they are edible that is a price you are willing to pay. They look delicious, but you remember last time. You bite into the burger and start crying.
It still tastes like cardboard, so you do the only reasonable thing…
>>
>>2189983
The fruit stand lander lady thanks you while bowing as you buy every fruit in her stand.
"Are you sure that isn't a little overboard?" Paradigm asks.

"What if these are the only things that have taste?" you ask her

She contemplates that. "I'll probably kill myself."

"That got dark real fast."

"It was a joke. A bad one, I know, but I don't think we even can kill ourselves… At least not permanently." she says looking in the direction of the cathedral.
You hadn't thought about that. What happens if you die here anyways? You didn’t plan on dying or anything, at least not yet, but the world is definitely full of monsters that can easily kill you.

Judging by all the isekai you have watched, there are three options: You revive like in a game, die permanently, or end up back in the real world. You will wait for someone else to try it first though, that second option is two dangerous.

"Anyways…" you say "If these are the only things with actual taste and we are stuck here for a long time, I would rather eat apples every day than a cardboard sandwich."

"True. You better share dude. I expect my share of the loot."

"Fine with me. Don't tell anyone else around here yet though."

"Who else am I supposed to tell? None of my friends are even in this city." Well that sucks. To be fair though, you are in basically the same situation, the only one you have is Hiroshima, and you just met him.

"Well at least we each have one here now."

"Yeh, I guess." she says quietly.

Speaking of friends, there are also those guys you were raiding with the other day. They all seemed like decent people, you should probably look around for them considering they are just as stuck here as you are. Plus there are all sorts of guilds you could join.
You open your menu to call Hiroshima again for an invite back to the party, but seeing the clock, you realize it is actually really late now. For all you know he is asleep already. Its hard to notice since the city is always in twilight, but the menu's clock says its 11:21 pm.

Hey guys should we buy the players/guilds storage building. Do we even have enough money? Let's buy lots of houses and make a real state war for the solo players! Muwahahahahaha!

We should also go to the apple stand lady and make sure to keep a steady supply of white apples.
>>

You have nowhere near enough money for that. A single large PHU is stretching your budget to the very limits

The conversation goes on a bit longer. Eventually you find yourself yawning.
"Am I boring you?" Paradigm says with a smirk

"No, its just late."

"Its only around midnight though." She says after checking her clock.

"Yeh, midnight. Anchorage time. Im from Massachusetts."

"Oh, I didn't even think about that…" she says "So its really like what, 3 am for you?"
"4 am." you correct her.

"I'm from California, so its basically the same time for me." she says. She must get up real early to start playing before 8 am, you are pretty sure everyone got stuck here at around 11 eastern time.

"So, do you think the inn has enough rooms for everyone? How would that even work?"

"No clue." you respond "I was actually thinking about getting a P H U in case they run out."

"That’s actually a pretty good idea. Want to go halfsies on a big one? It is probably cheaper that way and they have several rooms. Hell, if we get a really big one we can charge people rent if they run out of them."

That brings up a valid point. Remembering the prices, you can probably afford a large house yourself, but that would put a massive dent in your finances, and you aren't sure how much gold you will actually need in the near future, nor are you sure you want to go raiding for more…

[ ]Go halfsies with Paradigm, you have had to share an apartment with strangers before after your parents kicked you out, so its no big deal.
[ ] Don’t go halfsies, you literally just met her and know nothing about her really.

[ ] Small PHU (cheap, but still more than half the price of a medium one, 1 room that is about 15x15 feet)
[ ]Medium PHU (moderate price, well within your budget, 3 personal rooms and a shared room, often bought by groups of friends in the game)
[ ] Large PHU (Very large house with a very large price. You could purchase one alone if you spent nearly every gold you had. 12 personal rooms, 3 common rooms, workshop room)

Doing it more for the workshop room. Maybe we can use it to create our own brew station

Getting one with her basically commits us to staying here and not selling it if we want to move elsewhere. This is basically our just-in-case option, that we can liquidate later on. Explain this to her, hopefully she'll understand.
>>
>>2190082
Halfsies, medium-sized house.
>>
>>2190104
PHUs can be bought and sold from the guild hall. They buy them back at 80% the price you buy them for.

If they are actually limited though, you could probably sell it to players when they run out. Alaska may suck, but if you are stuck in this world for a long time, you figure people will eventually have to come here to level.
>>
>>2190114
How would selling a PHU back to the guild hall work if we co-own it with someone who wants to keep using it?

She has not expressed any desire to stay here, in fact, quite the opposite. But that is a fair point, you do not know how she will feel about this city in the future.

"Sounds good to me, Half in on a medium house will be 125k each, lets go buy it."

The two of you walk to the guild house. Even at midnight, it is still busy. The line takes about 20 more minutes to go through, and you are getting very tired.

Eventually it is your turn. "Hello, we want to buy a house."

The guild lady looks at you with a troubled expression…
"Valued adventurer, on behalf of the guild, we must apologize, all our small housing units are sold out at this point…"
"That’s fine, I'm buying a medium one with her." Paradigm waves at the guild lady from behind you

"Oh!" The guild lady looks at you with a happier expression. "Are you two a couple?"

Before you can answer, Paradigm grabs your arm and says "Yes, I am so excited to move in with my boyfriend!"

The guild lady "squees" a bit in excitement. "Such a cute pair! I am sure you will love your new house together!"

You look at Paradigm, she has a shit eating grin on her face. She is doing this to tease you. This girl is bold…

How can you retaliate?

You think quickly while you take out the gold from your inventory bag… You put it on the counter and the guild lady hands you a few keys and a map. "Our portal has been broken since this morning, but if you follow this map, you will get there in just a minute or two." says the excited guild lady. You quickly look at the map and figure out where the house is.
Aha!
You know what you can do.
No, you know what you must do.
This is gonna be great.

"Come on Honey, lets go home!" You say as you pick her up into a princess carry.
She is practically as light as a feather. Dwarves are really small… That and your monk body is crazy strong.
You walk past the line of adventurers while still holding her. She is blushing like crazy from the embarrassment. Perfect.
You carry the girl all the way to the house and put her down on the doorstep.

"Ok that was way overdoing it buddy." she says pouting.

"Don't start what you cant finish." you say sticking your tongue out playfully.

You unlock the door and give her a copy of the key. She quickly goes inside, chooses a room, and shuts her door.
Maybe you overdid it.

You look around the house, it is pretty sparse, but you expected that. On the right side wall of the living room there is a large fireplace with a few chairs near it. Opposite the fireplace, there is a small kitchenette area with a bar and a small table near it. On the opposite wall from the door is a small hallway that leads to four doors, there are only three personal rooms, so you check the out of place door out. Its a bathroom. That wasn't there in the game. Neat. Overall, this seems like the sort of house a family would buy.
Maybe that’s why the guild lady went there…

You go and look at the other two rooms that Paradigm didn’t take. One of them is much larger than the other, so you assume that it is probably the master bedroom. You take it happily and go to lay down on the big bed in the middle of the room. After a few minutes, you clock out for the night.
>>
>>2190293
You wake up to a ringing noise.
You groggily reach for your night stand to turn off your phone, but your hand only hits empty air. You open your eyes. It takes you a second to process it, but you are definitely still in the world of Elder Tale. Looks like it wasn't a dream.
The ringing noise continues.
You think to make it stop.
It does.

And then it comes back again. Your brother is calling you.

"Ugh" you groan and accept the call.
"Wakey wakey" he says loudly. Or perhaps the right word here would be he thinks loudly?

"What are you calling me so early for dammit Daniel."

"Just thought you might want to know that you are all clear to go and die."

"Are you telling me to kill myself? At 8 Am?"

"No, but I am telling you that you can if you want. Adventurers revive just like in the game."

"Oh." That’s actually some useful information. You expected him to just be calling to annoy you after the first line. His personality is a bit abrasive, probably because of all the League of Legends he plays, well, played, you correct yourself, but he is a good kid.

"Yeh. The cathedral in town lit up out of nowhere like 10 minutes ago and a guy just walks out perfectly fine. Since then I don't know if the atmosphere has actually gotten cheerier or more depressing, but I felt like I should probably tell you."

"Thanks. Anything els-" CLICK

Why does he always do that?

Well, you are up, and apparently immortal. What do you want to do today?

First things first, you should probably apologize to Paradigm. Just thinking about what you did makes your cheeks hot with embarrassment. You can only imagine how she feels…

You get out of bed and equip your armor through the menu's equip interface. It equips with a clinking sound, which is weird since it is mostly made of leather and fur. Something that you noticed when you took it off last night was a lack of actual underwear. Until then, you had been too distracted to realize it, but thinking about this, it must really suck for tanks and girls. Speaking of girls, it must really suck for players stuck as the wrong gender… Who knows, maybe they are enjoying it. Your new body still has all the right parts down there, and there are definitely some weirdos out there.

On second thought, you would rather not think about how that works honestly. Instead of worrying about it, you check Paradigm's location in your friend's list. Looks like she is still in her room, so you go over and knock on the door.

No response, looks like she is still asleep. Maybe she was up later than you, you recall she mentioned having a friend who plays, so maybe she was using the telepathy chat?
Well, whatever, you can tell her when she wakes up.

In the mean time, you have some experiments to do. Those apples the other day had flavor and you are going to figure out more about this mystery. You go over to the kitchenette and take one out of your inventory. You bite into it to make sure it still has taste.
Its crunchy and delicious. Why is it crunchy and delicious, but a beautiful looking burger with crisp lettuce and juicy looking meat soggy and flavorless?
At least this eliminates one variable: your inventory. Putting tasteful food into your game inventory does not change it.

Time to try something else. You take some snowberries you got as a drop yesterday out of your inventory and try one. It’s a bit sour, but its not an unpleasant flavor. That’s not the important part though, these have taste as well!

You pull out a beer from your inventory. It comes out just as beautiful as it was when you got it fresh out of the brewing stand. You taste it and nothing has changed, its still just water. You chug the rest of it so you have an empty glass to work with.

Next, you decide to try making apple juice. If the apple has flavor, maybe the juice will too. You crush the apple in your hand and its juice and bits of its flesh fall into the empty beer glass. You scoop them out to the best of your ability and do it again. After a couple of apples, you have a decent amount of apple juice. You take a sip and it tastes very much like apples! "Success!" you exclaim before slapping a hand over your mouth having remembered you aren't living solo anymore. You walk back to your room and get a bunch of different ingredients from your personal magic chest.
>>
>>2190536
You drink half of another beer and squeeze some more apples into the beer-water. You taste a bit and it tastes like apple juice. Needs some sugar though. You pull out a small bag of it from your inventory and taste it. Interestingly enough, it does tastes like sugar.

Maybe ingredients are ok?

You pour a bit of it into the glass of apple-beer-water and it settles to the bottom, so you stir it a little with a dagger. You taste it. Pretty good, looks like combining stuff like normal is ok?

"What are you doing?" Comes Paradigm's voice from behind you, looks like she got up when she heard you celebrating.

"Science."

"Sounds interesting, can I get in on this?"

"Only on one condition."

"Care to elaborate?"

"Accept my appology?" You hand her the glass with the rest of the slightly lumpy apple juice.

She takes a tentative sip.

"Alright, apology accepted. So what did you do?"

"I made it like I would in real life."

"We probably should have thought of that before, huh?"

"Yeh. It seems like a kinda obvious thing to do now."

"What do you want to try making next?"

"As much as I would like to say beer, I have no idea how you actually do that… How about pancakes?"

"Sure, got any flour?" You take a bag out of your inventory in response. "Looks like you are well prepared."

"Good thing I tended to packrat stuff in the game. My bank is full of all kinds of crap like this." you say while sticking your finger in the flour. You taste it, "It tastes like flour." You aren't sure how else to describe it. You pour some into a bowl, crack some eggs over it and mix it up with some milk.

"Got a light?" you ask putting a log in the range.

"I don't know, but lets find out. Science, right?" She casts her Electrical Fuzz and a spark of lightning jumps from her hand and into the stove. The tiny ball of lightning eventually makes one of the logs catch fire and the stove begins to heat up. While you wait, you go put some logs in the fireplace and have her light them as well.

By the time you are done, the pan you put on the range top is quite hot.

"Want to do the honors?" you ask.

"Why the hell not." she says. She delicately pours some of the batter onto the stove top and after a few seconds, the smell hits you.

"Jesus Christ that’s awful!"
"Oh god it smells like a dead animal!"

How the hell do you even get that smell out of those ingredients?! You take it off the stove as quickly as possible and dump it outside. A purplish black goopy substance runs out of your pan and into the snow. You bury it for good measure. Maybe cooking just doesn't work in this world?

Now what?

Is the brewing stand completely manual or is it operated by a menu? Either way, gotta exhaust all available options to come to a meaningful conclusion.
>>
>>2190563
It is operated through menus in your experience. All the required objects are there to use it manually though.

By the way, you have a ton of brewing ingredients left over since you had to grind a bunch to level your subclass, you also have some random non brewing ingredients, but nowhere near the amount of brewing ones.
>>
>>2190572
>All the required objects are there to use it manually though.
Then yeah, my vote is to do it manually. I don't even care about keeping the secret of making good food, I doubt we have a devious personality to make an amazing profit and then sell to all the guilds that the secret is to do it manually. Like damn I don't know how Shiroe avoided getting shanked for that bullshit.

>>

>>2190591
I know all that, I'm just surprised that nobody on-screen seemed to give a shit beyond 'damn this guy got us good, as expected as the master tactician of the game'. It was essentially a con job.
>>
>>2190575
Se here:>>2190591
So stop being afraid and take some risks. Besides, only a brewer can make good drinks. Chefs are the ones that make food, so we are just creating our personal brewing and as it was show we can try recreate some of the drinks in our recepie menu, that was in part the reason why i wanted to get the big house with a workshop. And we will need other money source that isn't involved in monsters drops.
>>
>>2190598
If the low levels wanted to survive they would need to use Shiro anyway. The cormece guilds were out numbered in people and level the only way to force the lower guilds to get some respect from the battle focused guilds was by taking such advantages.

They just realized that with that now they could only hear him out if they wanted to survive have some kind of power base in this new world. In other words, unlike most anons theu were thinking in the long game plan.
>>
>>2190605
I'm not saying to not make drinks, I was just saying I wouldn't mind if other people see us figuring out how to give a drink flavor if the public brewery option wins. Having a monopoly on a beverage with actual flavor flies a little too close to canon for my tastes.
>>
>>2190618
Then this town will be condened because the pkers will try to force the smaller commerce guilds from making business. We can share the knowledge but we need to do it with the people that would benefit from it.

Also we need to make marketing of our knowledge or people will just say we found a drop. And to spread said news will cost money. If you remember each apple cost 80 golds. There was also the fact that Shiro didn't trusted guilds and he wasn't sure he could be straigth with then and there was also the fact he had managed to make a bad name for himself.
>>
Quick IC knowledge: Brewer isn't the most popular subclass out there, its mostly used by roleplayers. You got it since you usually play intermittently due to your very busy college schedule, so the Bar-tending feature gave you some convenient and easy money. There may be around ten to twenty others out of the maybe 500 people here in the city, but you doubt there are any more than that.
>>
>>2190636
Why do you assume events are gonna happen exactly like they did in canon? Not only is that boring, but the gaming culture would be completely different. And William doesn't seem to be as deep a thinker as Shiroe is, so at that point I view that as metagaming to retread canon.

Well when the lower levels are the ones making your food and you can't bully then because the security npc's will beat your ass then you make everyone in the game be on equal terms.

"Alright, if food doesn't work, maybe its just drinks?" you think out loud.

"Maybe its your subclass?" she says

Shit. You didn't think of that. Brewers can make everything from tea to some sort of undefined explosive.

Maybe the drinks are only working because you made them?

"You try." you say "That’s the only way to find out."
Squeeze this for me? I don't have very high strength." she says as she grabs another apple and gives it to you to squeeze. The juice pours into a cup.

"Science!" she shouts as she combines it with a water-beer and some sugar.

Nothing seems to happen, at least for a few seconds. As the ingredients mix together, it begins turning into that same kind of black goop and starts stinking up the house again.

She runs outside and dumps it in the snow.

"Woo!" It Didn't work!"

"You say that like it’s a good thing."

"Knowing how this shit works is a good thing!" Good point. You are pretty sure this girl is smarter than you, or maybe just a bit quicker at picking up on things.

Either way, you have something that only you can do. Well, you and however many other brewers are in the city. Knowing the subclass, it might as well just be you.

"Do you think that means the same thing happens with engineering?" you ask her.

"Lets find out!" she says running to her room presumably to get materials from her chest.

She comes back and puts some gears, levers, and other assorted pieces of equipment on the counter.

"So how do you even build engineer stuff anyways?"

"Dunno." she says "The recipe for a lever is just a gear and some wood, so maybe I can make one."

"Give it a shot."

She puzzles over the objects for a bit…

"I don't have the right tools, I think?"

"How do you know?"

"I… Wait, how do I know? Maybe it’s the subclass? Maybe its like the skills and my body just knows?"
That really makes you think.

"What kind of tools do you need? We can probably buy them at the auction house and bring them back here."

"Lets see… I need…" She starts listing out tools, it will probably cost a fair amount, but its not like either of you are poor considering the fact that she offered to go halfsies on a large house. "That should do it for tools, on top of that I just need the right ingredients. I have stuff for levers, but I can't think of anything useful to make with only those."

"Alright, sounds good. I want to see if apples from the AH are still edible too."

The two of you set off for the AH. It’s about a two minute walk from your new house.
The line is much shorter than last time, there are only a few people in front of you.

Its your turn relatively quick, and you buy a single white apple for 3 gold.

You leave the line and take a bite of it. It tastes like an apple. Interesting. You can definitely take advantage of this. All you would have to do is buy all the apples in the area and tell people they have taste… At 3 gold a piece for the majority of them, you just might be able to do it.

You get back into line and buy 40k worth of ingredients that you might need anyways, then pull up the apples on the market. There are just under 300 thousand of them for sale, with most of your remaining gold, you could buy all of them that are there for under 60 gold and turn a huge profit.

[ ] That plan is just stupid enough to work. Do it.
[ ] This plan might work, but you aren't gonna go all in on it. Plus you don't know if there will even be enough demand for that many apples. Buy all the apples until the price goes up to 35.
[ ] That plan is just stupid enough to fail. What if someone figures out how to make actual food before you can sell them all?

This sounds like a terrible idea. How much would we need to spend to push the price up to 35 anyway?
>>

>[ ] That plan is just stupid enough to fail. What if someone figures out how to make actual food before you can sell them all?
I'd rather just make our money selling the stuff we brew successfully. Any idiot can sell apples, but an actual drink that doesn't taste like water? We know we're one of the very few if not only brewer in the city, capitalize on that shit.
>>
>>2190869
This might work, but you aren't gonna go all in.
>>
>>2190883
to push the price up to 35 would be about 980k. after you get that many apples though, its mostly just really old offers and joke prices. Past 35 is about .5%, barely even enough for everyone in the city to buy one if they bought them all including the ones joke priced at millions of gold.
>>
I sort of just realized that we're in an isolated snowy city like Democracy was in canon. Are things eventually gonna turn lawless? This quest is gonna turn into Will's and Paradigm's adventures in owning a rowdy bar where the customers always get into fights, isn't it? That'd actually be kinda fun.

Set aside enough for us to make back our investment plus profit, and use the rest as cider and wine ingredients.

No. That’s just stupid enough to waste all your money and fail horribly…
If you figured out how to make drinks with taste this easily, there is no way nobody will figure it out before you sell them all.

Just in case though, you think you will keep this a secret…

Paradigm is already on her way back to the house according to your friends list, so you head back as well.

When you get there, it looks like she is in the extra bedroom, you go and knock on the door.

"Don't come in! I'm naked!" she yells. Yeh, you aren't gonna fall for that. You feel like you have a good grasp of this girl's personality. You are just gonna wait out here because you don't want to steal any trade secrets. Yeh.

"What, did you actually believe me?" she says opening the door. "Give me a hand with moving this shit, its too big for me dammit!"

There is a big bench behind her in the middle of the room, it takes up about half the remaining space that the bed isn't already taking up. That looks like the engineer's workbench from the workshop, and you know that you definitely couldn't put the player owned benches in a medium house. This world is such a confusing mishmash of reality and game that its getting on your nerves.

You easily lift the work bench to move it over to the wall, but as you do, a few stray tools fall off it. You catch them almost instantly with one hand while balancing the table on the other. Being a monk is pretty fucking cool…

"Quit showing off, you're making me jealous." the tiny girl says as she goes over and sits back on the bed.

"Be jealous, I'm a beast." you say flexing your free arm.

"Oh Will, you are sooooo strong and manly~~~" she says with an over the top voice that you would expect form the heroine of some cheesy romance movie while rolling her eyes.
>>
>>2191053
"Pfft." you cant help but laugh. You put down the workbench on the wall opposite from the bench.

"Maybe we should get rid of the bed too?"

"But what if I want to nap while I'm working?" she says in a voice mimicking a spoiled kid

"Go next door to your room. It's literally 5 feet away."

"True, but that’s not as convenient~" she pouts as she gets off the bed again.

"Well, we can leave it here from now, but don't blame me If I walk in on you while you're sleeping."

"Perv."

"Fair is fair, I might want to get some brewing equipment since you can put them in the house, and I'll need somewhere to put it."

"Ughh, fine. I'll make sure to wear a nice sexy robe for you, you lewd beast." she teases.

You ruffle her hair. "In that body?"

"Shit. I forgot." she says dejectedly as the smug look leaves her face…

"Speaking of which, I wonder if all that kinda stuff even works." you say thinking out loud again.

Woops, that was awkward. Asperger's is a hell of a drug.

She looks at you like you are an idiot. She has that right so you say "Sorry. Asperger's is a hell of a drug." hoping that will explain it.

She shrugs. "Not like I'm not curious anyways, I'm just not gonna go around talking about it with people who barely come up to my waist."

"I don't think there are any of those." you quip. She kicks you in the shin. It doesn't hurt. "Ow , your shins are hard as fuck." Correction, it doesn't hurt YOU.

"Anyways. Everything else aside, lets give it a shot."

"Perv."

"Not that! The work bench!"

"Still a perv." she says teasingly as she pulls a chair out of nowhere.
She sets it in front of the bench and starts making a lever. You watch her actions intently. Seems simple enough.
"Alright, you try." she says getting out of the chair.

You pick up the tools and start trying to fit the materials together. They repel eachother like they were magnets. You put more strength into it, you aren't gonna lose to some shitty wood and brass in this body.
You feel something give. A big crack runs through the gear that you were trying to cram into place and the wood has exploded into sawdust.

"Well that didn't work."

"I noticed. Looks like you made the same kind of broken gear that you get when you fail a recipe in game though.

Weird.
It would seem you have figured out the mystery of subclasses. It is around one two the afternoon now.

He dropped out of college to stream for a living and constantly drops calls without a proper good-bye. It's too late to save him. So I double-checked the thread, and I noticed we failed out of college but LHNeo says later on that we have a busy college schedule as an IC reason for picking Brewer as our subclass.

He failed his first year and got kicked out.

The reason his schedule is so busy recently is because he worked his ass off to go back and doesn't want to waste his time and hard earned money on the second try. Its kind of a moot point now, but it was a defining moment in his life that definitely set him on a different path.

"Alright. Looks like we figured out how subclasses work, do you know what that means?"

"We can build a plane and fly out of Alaska?"

"Well maybe that too, but I was talking short term."

"Uhh, we can build something crappy and useless since im only level 31?"

"No, no, no, remember why we started doing this in the first place?"

"Oh yeh, shit! Lets go get smashed!" she shouts.

"Now that’s the spirit!" The two of you leave the house in high spirits.

"Mind if I call my brother and tell him what we figured out?"

"Will he blab?"

"I doubt it, he may act like a lazy idiot, but he isn't as dumb as he lets on. Plus he told me about the cathedral this morning."

"Well I'm not sure if that’s reassuring, but if you feel like you should, go for it. What did he tell you about the cathedral? Oh shit, does it not work!?"

"No, still works. He said some guy got revived earlier and was just fine."

"Phew. I thought this was about to turn into some kind of Shit Art Online ripoff."

"Fuck that garbage ass show, its an insult to the genre." She has good taste, thank god.

"Anyways, I'm gonna call him."
You think about calling Dan… Ring… Ring… Ring.
"Hello, this is Daniel Pierce speaking. Haha, no, I'm fucking with you, this is just my answering machine. Please leave a message after the Beep." A loud beep sounds into your head.

"Hey Dan, call me ba-"

"Are you retarded dude, we don't even have answering machines here!" He says while laughing
>>
>>2191136
God dammit, you fell for it out of habit. It sounded exactly like his actual answering machine message. How did he even make a beep like that? This kid is having way too much fun given the situation of the world.

"Alright alright, you got me. Anyways, I got some important news for you."

"Ohh, I'm all ears, lay it on me."

"So, you know how food has no flavor, right?"

"Yeh."

"Ingredients still have it. Apples, sugar, flour, all that kinda shit tastes exactly like it would IRL."

"Hooo? Good to know."

"Not only that, but we figured out how subclasses work."

"And how is that?"

"Well, you can't produce things that your subclass doesn’t do."

"Whats that supposed to mean?"

Hmm, it’s a bit tricky to explain…
"For example, I'm a brewer. I can make apple juice that has taste, but only if I do it by hand from ingredients."

"Workshops don't work?"

"I dunno. We know that the menus don't work, if you use them you just get tasteless crap. On the other hand, my friend who is an engineer can produce items that work just fine from the workbench menu…"

"That’s confusing."

"Yeh, but anyways, when she tried to make a drink like I did by hand, it turned into purple goop, and when I tried to make a lever like she did, the wood exploded and the gear cracked."

"Interesting…"

"Anyways, its probably not a good idea to let this get out quite yet. It feels like we are sitting on a gold mine."
"Yeh, that’s what I got out of what you just told me… Anyways, I can't make food, so it doesn't really help me that much. Or maybe it does, who knows. Later bro."

"Later."

By the time you are done, you are already at the workshop. Its completely empty.
You head over to the brewing station, take out the ingredients you needed for a White Cider in the game, and try to figure out how the hell this thing works.

Its surprisingly easy it turns out. Your body seems to know all the steps, so you on letting it make the drinks as it goes about it on its own. Its kinda like how your monk skills worked. Once you decided on one, it just goes.
After filling receptacles with ingredients, turning nobs, and pulling a lever, the workstation begins to steam. Its not the same as last time though. You can smell it. It smells a bit like apples, so hopefully that means its working!

After a couple minutes, you get several empty glasses that you bought and fill them with the cider. Its actually white, neat. You always thought that the cup in the game was just opaque and colored white. It bubbles and foams at the top, and smells excellent.

You hand one over to Paradigm. "To science!" you shout.

"I can drink to that!" She says taking the glass and clinking it against yours.

You both finish them quickly, relishing the taste as you do. You didn't drink hard cider much, but this is pretty good.
"Ahhhh~
"Puahh~"

"That was good. Lets drink more."

"Sounds good to me!"

"Alright, what next?"

[ ] "Everything." You got enough ingredients to make several batches of every type of alcohol that your level allows. Might as well put it to use!
[ ] "Something hard, lets get shitfaced."
[ ] "Something classy. Such a momentous occasion calls for Whiskey."

"Everything." You say as you empty the rest of the cider into a bunch of bottles and put them into your inventory.

"I like how you think dude."

You begin your work.

First you make a simple beer. The flavor is crisp and it goes down smooth. You want to keep drinking it, but you know there is far more to come, so you only drink half a glass before you bottle the rest up and move on.

Next is vodka. Is it just you, or is it odd that that’s the second drink you learn to make considering how drunk it can get you? In go the potatoes, out comes the clear liquid. You hand Paradigm a shot.

"Whew! That’s the stuff!" she says as she throws her head back and downs it.

"Hell yeah!" you do the same.

It burns, but it’s a good kind of burn. The kind that gets you drunk. Next is an ale.

It’s a bit fruity, but still good. You are used to ales being a bit more bitter.

You fly through the list of alcohols that you can make, only taking a sip or two of each. It would feel like a waste if you didn't know you were saving them for later and had a ton more.

After a while, someone comes into the workshop and watches you for a bit. You can't quite focus his name, you are starting to get fairly drunk. "Does that thing actually work?"

"Nope, we are just roleplaying." Paradigm says with an over-exaggerated frown.

"You sure don't look like it…"

"Give him a beer Will." She says trying her best to avoid slurring her words.
Ring.. Shes calling you on telepathy. You take the call.
"Use the Menu."
Click.

"One disappointment, coming right up!" you say in the saddest voice you can muster.

After a minute, its ready and you hand it to him. He looks at it, smells it, and then takes a sip.

Then he throws it on the ground.

"Man fuck you guys for giving me hope." he laments.

"Fuck you for ruining our fun!" Paradigm shouts after him.

As soon as he leaves, the two of you burst out laughing. "Haha, fuckin sucks to be that guy! Thank you Brewer subclass!"

"God dam am I glad that those asshats started fucking with the portal." Paradigm says. "I'm, hic, the luckiest girl in Alaska! Whoo!" she shouts throwing her arms, and her glass, into the air. The glass smashes into the ground behind her. It seems like a waste to the you of the past, but you just made three bottles of the stuff in a couple minutes!

You continue churning out alcohol and the two of you continue getting progressively drunker…
"This world is awesoooome!!!" you yell into the twilight of the city.

And that’s the last thing you can remember.
>>
>>2191205

You wake up back at the house. Your head is pounding. Judging by the light coming in through the window, it looks like late afternoon outside. Wait, it always does that here…
You sit up and feel like you are gonna puke. You put you hand against your head to stop the dizziness. You notice a something brush against your leg and lift the covers to check. Its Paradigm. She is sleeping in the opposite direction that you are near the foot of the bed. She is still wearing her enchanter robe though, so unfortunately, well, actually fortunately considering you have known her for a day and aren’t ready to jump into that kind of relationship, you don't get to see anything nice. The bottom of her robe is wrapped around your foot, and you carefully untangle it while trying not to wake her up.
Now that that bombshell has been avoided, you look around the room. Its not your room.

But its not her room either.
The two of you seem to have fallen asleep in the bed in the spare room that you have transformed into a workshop. Maybe leaving the bed here was a good choice.
Another thing you notice is a brewery station sitting in the corner along the wall opposite the door. Seems like you bought one last night, which is fine considering the fact that you were probably gonna do that anyways. You hope you haven't disclosed any trade secrets, but judging by the pile of ingredients strewn on the floor, you guess you ended up coming back home at around the level 40 tier drinks.
You check your inventory to confirm this, and you see that you have made several batches past level 40, all the way up to 51. Ten Levels off your maximum. Considering how many different drinks there are between that and level one, you feel pretty accomplished.

The weight at the bottom of the bed shifts around again and you feel her grab your leg. She really is quite small. You feel like you are committing a crime, even though you are pretty sure you guys didn't actually do anything.

You shake your leg to wake her up.

"What time is it Ari?" she says quietly, "ughh my head… 10 more minutes?" she asks pleadingly.

You aren't actually sure what you should say here, so you just stay quiet. You can practically feel the spaghetti welling up from your soul ready to spill out your mouth. Or is that puke?

You gently pull your leg out of her grasp and get up out of the bed. You make your way to the bathroom and heave into the toilet.
"Ugh." You wipe some puke from your face and wash it out of your mouth with a beer-water. Maybe a CC breaking skill will get rid of hangovers?
"Resilience!" you shout. You are surounded by a yellow and green light full of bubbles for a second and the pain goes away almost instantly.

"Ughhh" comes from the other room in response. You aren't sure enchanters have a cleanse, but you hope so. It’s a battlefield control class, so they must have something, right?

You head back to the other room, Paradigm is sitting up and holding her head with her hand. Her light blue hair is disheveled and her face is contorted in pain.
"Use a cleanse" you say as quietly as you think she will be able to hear it.

"Shit, uhh… Karma Drive!" she casts the skill and blue bubbles rush into her body and then splash back out of her.

"Wow, that’s actually a lot better."

"Right?"

"Dude this world is awesome. Also, get out of my room. Perv."

"No way, you're the perv." you say, "This is the workshop."

"Oh, shit, never mind then…" she says while rubbing her eyes.

"So, why is the other side of the bed all messed up? Trying to get a peek last night? Too bad im still in my robes!" she sticks out her tongue.

"You got in bed with me. I just woke up first."

"Tell it to the judge buddy." she says.

"Alright, which side is the top of the bed?" you ask.

"Shit." she says as she swings her legs out. "Alright, I'll let you have this one. I'm the perv today." she says blushing a bit. "Man, we really trashed this room last night. And apparently bought a brewing stand."

"Yeh, we apparently drank until ten levels below my previous max. I made so much leveled up twice."

"You aren't the only one." You look at her status bar: Paradigm lv 67 enchanter, lv 38 Engineer. What the fuck?!

"What the fuck." you say loudly "How much shit did you make?"

"I dunno, I blacked out before I made anything!" she says.

"Well, check your inventory!"

She takes a second to look. "Nothing new there, I'm not even missing any materials as far as I can tell."

"Then how the fuck did you gain 7 levels?!"

That’s when you notice it. Right there, with its back sitting perfectly flat on the work bench, is a single lever.

What the fuck.

[Session 3 Begins]

You are William Pierce, or rather, you were William Pierce. Now you are Will2Fight, the level 73 Foxtail Monk stuck in Alaska with only one person you have talked to for more than a couple hours in within hundreds of miles of you. The last two days have been a like a whirlwind, and you are trying your damned hardest to keep up.

Everything started out like any normal day, and then, Bam! Here you were. Somehow thrown into the world of your favorite game. Your body has become that of your character. Knowledge and skills that you never had are yours to command. Its like a dream come true. In the time span of roughly a day, you met a girl named Paradigm and the two of you proceeded to drag each-other around on various whims until you moved in together and figured out a secret with the power to change the world. After that, she created something that shouldn't be possible according to everything you know so far and you both lost your memories.

When you put it that way, you are probably making things sound cooler than they were. In reality, you got stuck here in the freezing dump of a town called Portage, half the people that you have met so far are dicks, and all the food is basically inedible. You met a little girl who likes to drink, and the two of you messed around with your subclass until you realized something that should have been fairly obvious. As for the last bit, the really cool sounding part, she made a fucking lever while you were both shitfaced.
You may have ended up in the same bed at the end of the day, but you are pretty sure there are plenty of guys who can accomplish the same thing with a tenth of the effort you exerted, and to top it off, they probably scored.

At least you can claim the title of "First Man to get Blackout Drunk in Another World". Not to bad for someone who is basically a nobody here, right?

You think so, and so, you assume, does your friend Paradigm.

Speaking of Paradigm, she is staring at the lever that is resting on top of the work bench. Like she has been for the last 10 minutes. Without blinking… Its seriously starting to freak you out, so you pick her up and carry her out of the room.

As soon as you cross the threshold, she seems to snap out of it.

"Will?" she says with noticeable distress in her voice

"Yeh?"

"What just happened?"
>>
>>2191856
You have absolutely no idea. Something about that lever gives you some seriously bad vibes though. You can somehow tell it is off limits. Not meant for you to touch. It has a higher purpose. These thoughts flow like static through your mind. You don't like the feeling at all.

"You kinda just zoned out for like 10 minutes. At first I thought you were just using Telepathy or something, but after a while you hadn't moved. It was kinda freaky so I started trying to get you to pay attention again, but you didn't respond to anything I did."

"Did you try kissing me?" Her attempt at a joke falls flat. She is far too rattled by whatever just happened and her voice shows it.

"I thought that would probably be a bad idea given the circumstances, so I just picked you up and took you out here."

"Thanks. If that ever happens again, please don't let it go on that long." she says gripping onto your arm tightly. "It felt like there was something in my head. I don't know what he wants, but he is the reason that lever is there." The way she phrased that worries you even more.

"What should we do? Dest-" You want to say destr-… The words don’t form. You can't even think it. Its simply off limits. More static. You grip your head.

She looks at you. She looks like a scared kid looks at their parents. You would make a joke to yourself about that being because of her body type, but right now, you feel like a scared kid too. This shit is beyond you. What the fuck happened last night? All you can memories are gone and there is just static buzzing through your head.

"Lets go somewhere else for now." you say.

"I need to take it." she says. The buzzing in your head tells you that she is right.
You carry her back into the room. Its just a lever, but somehow so much more... You open her magic bag and put it open side down on top of the lever. When you pick it back up, the offending switch has disappeared into her inventory. More static, but you can tell it is done with you now.

You look out the window. Beyond the twilight of the city, past the mountains, the Aurora Borealis paints the always dark sky. Paradigm is staring at it too. You feel like you are getting the slightest glimpse at something. Some universal truth just out of your reach.

The feeling departs, and you feel sick to your stomach, and without warning, Paradigm suddenly vomits. You see it spill onto the floor of your makeshift workshop. It hurts to look at. Not because its gross or you are empathizing with her though. The vomit that just came out of her mouth literally hurts to look at. You turn your head away from it but you can feel it burned into your mind… It is just wrong. Off limits. Stati- none comes, but you recognize the sensation. It is there, but you cannot comprehend it, the static is just your mind trying to save you from the horror of its existence. Whatever just happened caused this. Paradigm seems to have lost consciousness after throwing up.

You thought things were looking up. You aren't sure how to process whatever just happened.

[ ] Take Paradigm to an inn and watch her until she wakes up to make sure she is ok. You are seriously worried about her now, and you aren't sure if it is good for her to be here.

Your brain is running slowly. You feel like you were hit with the mental version of a truck, and your vision wavers. But Paradigm's condition is worse. She is out cold. You hold her in your arms like a father holds their daughter. Her small arms are still wrapped around the top of your right arm and her skin feels clammy where it touches yours.
Maybe she will feel better after she rests some more. You take her to her room, but its locked. Her key is probably in her inventory, but you don't think you can open it, and even if you could, you don't think that you should. Between the invasion of personal space and the fact that the lever is in there, you feel like it is best to just leave it alone.
You take her to the big bed in your room and gently put her down on it and pull the covers over her.

She looks so much smaller than you thought she did yesterday. Maybe her usual personality just makes her seem larger than life? Right now though, you see her as a frail existence. A thin body that could break under too much pressure. A child lost in a massive and scary new world. Perhaps you are one too.

You sit on the bed and put your hand on top of hers. She grabs onto it in her sleep. Her hands are cold and shaking slightly.

You run things through your mind. What happened. What is causing this. A grim thought hits you.

If the sage can do something that he would never do in the game, does that apply to the other NPCS? Does it apply to monsters?

While elder tale was a game, you weren't the most dedicated lore follower, but even you know this; Elder Tale is a world full of some very scary things. Inhuman monstrosities, evil creatures bent on death and destruction, beings of madness incarnate, and shadowy figures who seemed to operate beyond the scope of the character's understanding all existed in the game. If they are starting to move, perhaps not even immortality can save you.

Paradigm is murmuring something in her sleep. You can't quite make out what she says. You listen closer, bringing your head next to hers.

"Walk in the Light."

"Open the gates."

She becomes quiet.

You feel like you have been told a secret, but you aren't actually sure she is the one saying it. Her mouth moved, but the only thing you heard were murmurs. Rather, the words seem to fall directly into your brain. The sensation is a bit painful, but you know that it is important somehow.

She is shouldering some sort of burden. You aren't going to let her do it alone. You need to let her know you are here with her. You put your arms around her and hug her to your body. Gradually her shaking stops. Her hands warm up and she hugs you tightly.

You stay there holding her for a while. Time passes to the tune of your breathing and hers. Eventually she stirs and opens her eyes.

"Thanks." she says looking up at you.
You were hoping she would say something different.
The two of you lay there for a while.

Eventually she lets go of you and gets up. You get up too.
"Lets go do something." she says. "I need to clear my head."
That seems like a good idea to you.

Oh. We got assassinate. I thought omedetou was an actual substitution skill or something.

But based on what i can see, we cant do much to buff up the damage. Best thing is mantis move for some armor pen without minor action for double damage, then when mantis move is off cooldown we use assassinate AGAIN using dual fist but without double damage.

Were definately an offtank, not a main one. Stacking hate to use as damage would be risky if we still want to use assassinate. No, im not too sure i can crunch all these numbers on a round per round basis.

"Yeh." you say.
The two of you leave the house in silence. It feels a bit awkward, but that will probably pass. You two just experienced some heavy shit, a little awkwardness is nothing unexpected, right?

You walk towards the city gate, neither of you really seems to be leading the way, perhaps you just both realized it’s the natural thing to do.

You are trapped in a corner, so you lash out with violence. Its basically instinctual.

As you reach the edge of the city, you realize you are being followed. You turn around.

"Yo, long time no see man." The Fox tail greets you.
<Kool Kids Klub> Hiroshima Nagasaki Sorcerer lv 77, Artillery Officer lv 69.
"Yeh, how are you doing so far?" The guardian adds.
<Kool Kids Klub> 4Dank2Tank0 Guardian lv 74, Border Patrol lv 71.

"Pretty good." you answer. You think you will keep whatever just happened today to yourself.
"You look a little out of it though." he says. "Did the two of you have a long night?" the handsome sorcerer says with a grin.

"Yeh. It was really long.~ All kinds of things happened.~" Paradigm says. It seems like she is starting to return to her usual self

4Dank2Tank0 holds his hand up to give you a high five. You do so.
"Want to come raiding with us? We still need 2 more guys."

"Sure. We havent been raiding yet since we got stuck here though, so we might be a bit slow."

"No problem dude, we have the strongest DPSer around, we are just running the Frozen Fortress anyways." 4Dank2Tank0 says.

"What is there to move on to? We are still stuck here, and its not like any of us are willing to risk a boat in the ocean raids since they don't come back anymore." That’s news to you, when it was a game, ships cost a couple million gold, and when you lost an ocean raid, they ships would drift ashore a few minutes walk from the port and you would only have to pay some money to get it usable again like any other broken equipment. Escaping via the sea seems like even more impossible now.

"Hmm. Didn't know that." You are pretty sure there are some level 90 raids much further north, but there is no way a few 70s could clear them, and if they went with all 90s they would just get no EXP. Looks like they are forced to settle for the poor gains of over-leveled raiding.

You all continue walking along the path until you spot a tree with something hanging in off one of the branches.
Is that a person?

"What the fuck is that?" you ask the two of them while pointing at the tree."
"Pker." Hiroshima responds. As you walk past it, you look at the person hanging in the tree. Damage rapidly ticks off him in a torrent of red 1s that rise slowly into the sky and vanish after a second.
<Last Valley> RapidFapp, Assassin 90 Duelist 90.
The <Last Valley>s are notorious for player killing, being the largest of all the PKing guilds on the server. That just leaves the question of what the hell one of them is doing strung up by his neck in a tree.

"The <Morning Star>s are the ones who did it if you are wondering. They posted a big notice in the guild hall that anyone caught Pking will be hung until they die, once for every player they kill."

That’s fucking scary. It looks like he is taking about 10 damage a second? At that rate, some of the end game tanks would last more than a whole day. You shudder thinking about it and move on. There is nothing you can do about it. You aren’t even sure if you should do something about it. They did PK someone after all, so maybe it’s a fitting punishment? Things are bad enough here without Pkers running rampant. At least this should scare them out of it.

You eventually reach the entrance to the Frozen fortress. It’s the only place within the range of mountains that there are undead, but according to the lore, they are all trapped under the castle by the barrier, unable to leave.
You hope that remains consistent with the game.

When you get there, a Were cat greets you.
<Kool Kids Klub> Catler. Druid lv 74 Field Doctor lv 72. Another player from the /pol/ guild. A spot below his nose makes it look like he has a Hitler mustache. You assume raiding with him was probably the reason Hiroshima was up in Portage before you all got stuck here.

Are you sure you want to do this?
[ ] Yeh. We desperately need to level up if we are stuck here, and from what you saw, these might be the only guys who are actually raiding.
[ ] Paradigm doesn't seem to care who they are, if she even notices it. You don’t really care either. Its not like raiding automatically makes you one of them. Its like partying with randos except those randos are a collection of other channers.

So we will keep our brewing knowledge a secret right? So no using our brews in this raid? Although i'm tempted to test if the fire breathing alcohol we have can be used to cause non-magical damage.
>>
>>2192589
We can still use the brews in the raid, as long as we don't give away they taste like they're supposed to instead of water. Assuming you mean brews with combat applications, where the taste wouldn't matter.
>>
>>2192589
Brews( and food) that don't have taste still impart normal stat benefits like they did in the game. Its fairly normal to use food/drinks/potions in a raid and players usually have their own supply. Nobody would be able to tell as long as you don't go handing them out or get too drunk.
>>

Not really, but you aren't sure you don't want to either. /pol/ is /pol/. It doesn't change anything for you and they are generally decent enough people when you have actually interacted with them. You can play with them just like any other randos. You and Paradigm being here or not isn't going to change anything other than whether or not the two of you get exp.

Dank Tank touches the door of the castle and it opens into darkness. The party steps inside. As you walk, your footseps echo through the halls. Its a lot bigger than it looked in the game. Frozen suits of armor stand at attention in silence along the hallway. As you pass the last one, they all suddenly turn their heads towards the group and start stepping off their platforms. Hiroshima pulls out his staff, it glows red for a second, and his feet become surrounded by a ring of glowing blue light that you recognize as the animation for Robust Battery. He fires a bolt of red lightning at them. It arcs between them for a second, then he glows and casts the same spell again. They all die and burst into bubbles and loot before they can even step towards you. It would seem that one of his Fox Tail skills is Cast On Beat, you aren't sure how you didn't notice before, but it was probably because he wasn't literally one-shotting the mobs. Maybe it’s the subclass? He was only 64 last time you saw him, and you know that Artillery Officer buffs ranged damage with one of its abilities. Looks like it went up pretty quickly since it was still under leveled for the raid.

"See what I mean?" Dank Tank says. "He can basically one shot most of the mobs in the first half." Your exp bar in your menu increases slightly. A few cores and some gold drop to the floor and the group splits them up.
You aren't sure if you are happy about that or not. Oh well, at least you guys can still get to hit the bosses.

The first floor is completed quickly.

As is the second. It would seem you guys are basically just along for the ride for the most part.
Dank Tank strolls casually along with you making small talk.

"So how did you guys meet." He motions to Paradigm.

"Complete chance." You say. "I was trying to get some beer with my Brewer subclass and she was thirsty."

"You were pretty thirsty too Will." she says while jabbing you in the side playfully with her elbow. You are glad she is feeling better, but you aren't sure how well you can deal with her teasing. Dank Tank laughs at that. "Well, at least it sounds like you guys are getting out ahead in all this. Did the brewing work? I could really use a beer right about now."

"See for yourself." You say handing him one of the water-beers. You feel a bit bad, but you still want to keep this a secret.
He takes a sip and says "Oh well. Kinda what I expected considering all the other food was broken. If it was really that easy we would all be eating good in town instead of fighting frozen golems and undead." he downs the rest of it anyways.

"If you ever do figure it out, tell us, would you? I'm tired of water and cardboard." Catler complains.

"Sure." you say. Maybe you actually are a bit of a dick at heart? You put it out of your mind. Survival comes first and this might be the edge you come to rely on someday.

Eventually, you reach the mini boss door and head inside.

"Alright, you two remember how the boss works, right?"

The two of you nod. Between you and Paradigm, you can lay on the debuffs and dots forever to keep the frost at bay. When the fight ends, all you have to do is run for the door while dodging icicles.

Easy you think to yourself, then you see the golem. He is massive. What you thought was frozen dirt in the game was actually coarse black stone. Underneath the layer of ice covering the top of the golem's body, blue magic pulses like a heartbeat. Its fist is bigger than you are.

You aren't about to back down just because it is big and intimidating though. Technically, you are actually probably stronger than it, it just has a ton of HP.

I hope I didn't fuck this up somehow. The intent is to use Kung Fu action to use soul infusion and backhand for as many basic attacks as possible, and then wrapping it up with triple blow for even more basic attacks. And then dodge since we're an offtank and dodge tanking is a thing we can do.

(67, Success)
You drink from the gourd of "Drunken Fist". You aren't quite sure how to describe it. Its mellow, but strong. You empty the gourd, and it hits you much faster than you expect. The room is practically spinning. You run towards the golem, you doubt it was in a straight line.
Dank Tank throws his shield at it stunning it and doing around 1000 damage. The shield ricochets off it and flies back to him, he catches it out of the air and keeps running towards the golem until he is in melee range.
You are in position as well, you activate your tiger stance and bring both your hands up ready to attack. You slam your palm into it's leg a shadow of your arm slams into it a second later, the claw on your other hand and its shadow follow the palm strike, sparks trace across the stony surface as your metal claw leaves grooves in the stone. A blue wave echoes across the surface of it's body.
You jump into the air and shout "Tiger Echo Fist!", slamming your right fist encased in a burning orange aura into it's chest. The blue waves ripple out three times from its leg and its Hp drops. On your way to the ground, you swing your left claw and its shadow, carving a line down its frozen upper body as another echo ripples from its leg. From your attacks, roughly 4500 damage drops from its HP bar.
Paradigm casts Electrical fuzz on the golem and a tiny spark shoots out of her staff and orbits it. Electrical fuzz lasts a full minute, and honestly, that alone will probably last the entire fight as a dot to prevent frost, freeing her up to start her DPS rotations as well. She also casts points her staff at Hiroshima, who starts yelling out from behind you like a shonen hero powering up.
The Golem thrusts its massive fist towards you, but you sway to the side and it misses you by inches.
Catler slams his staff into the ground and a small cloud forms within the arena room. Lightning strikes down on the golem and you know that that means its magic defense is down. Should be at around 10% now if you remember its stats correctly.
Hiroshima finishes his yelling and levels his staff at the Golem. The blue circle under his feet is glowing and his staff gleams with the sinister red light. He fires a spell and a massive arrow of fire flies out towards the golem. It splashes into it and you can feel the heat wash over you. Then another arrow flies from his staff.

The frozen room turns into an inferno and you are in the middle of it. Small amounts of damage tick off your health bar just from proximity to what should have been a pair of single target spells.

You look at the Golem's health bar. It's max HP is a massive 70k, but it has already dipped far into the yellow now. This is insane. You thought his damage was high, but this is thoroughly unreasonable. The Golem's Hp keeps ticking down rapidly as it stands amidst the inferno with you and Dank Tank…

It is at roughly half HP. Hiroshima hit it for over 21k damage with his arrows. It seems to have lost another 4k HP from the fire surrounding you. You are sweating like hell.

[ ] Keep fighting it. You should probably taunt it to keep it from agroing onto Hiroshima after that... (Give me another combat action and 3 times 1d100.)

The fire is slowly draning the golem HP we need to keep it in place so it won't attack Hiro. Dodge tank is a sure way to keep the golem from injuring anyone so Dank can replace us as tank for the group if the golem gets a lucky hit in us. Then we start applying dps

Stuns won't actually stun it, its one of those "hard CC immune but your cc has special effects in the fight" types of bosses. Stuns just stop it from using its frost passive. This is IC knowledge and the reason it was still able to attack you after Dank Tank used shield throw.

>>
>>2193392
No problem. Feel free to switch between 'Best of three' and 'Best of five' depending on player size. Though consistency will be definitely appreciated, so once you decide on one, you should stick to it.

And my advice? Don't do averages. Averages ruin the experience for everyone, since a single bad roll will drag down the result. If you don't like the swinginess of the dice, you can always just disable crits and switch to a degrees of success kind of thing.
>>
>>2193407

With how much damage he just did, there is no way he didn't get agro there.

The golem turns away from you and begins lumbering towards the Sorcerer. You aren't even sure if Dank Tank's Anchor howl can even generate enough Hate to offset it, even with his Border Patrol subclass...

Thankfully, hate juggling is something Monks excel at. You switch into Amber Elephant Stance, throwing your center of mass forward into a looming pose that practically oozes with aggression. Triple blow, and Laughing taunt… your body goes through the motions, but after seeing Hiroshima's single target attack become an AOE DOT, you try changing it up a bit mid way through.

(100)
You Smack it on the leg, run underneath it, jump upwards to kick it in the back, and scrape your claws along its opposite arm as you come back to the ground, your shadow attacks follow you every step of the way, and you laugh mockingly the whole time.

You completely changed your attack's animations, to the point of jumping into the air in the middle of one when you should have just been standing there pummeling its leg. Your body followed through with it perfectly, as if it were natural. Maybe this is what combat really is in this world? You don't thik it would be reasonable to represent it on a computer screen.

On top of that, you think, if you can just jump like normal, do you even need to use monkey step to activate Aerial Rave anymore? Maybe you can actually just save it to auto-dodge AOEs like you used to back when you didn't know shit about combos.

This has implications.
(1)
While you are thinking about them, the golem wheels around to face you and drives its fist into your solar plexus.
You fly into the wall of the arena from the force of the blow and fall hard, slamming into the icy ground below. Your attacks aren't the only ones that have changed…
>>
>>2193558
Shit. This really isn't what you were expecting. This is on a whole new level compared to the mobs.

The golem has mass now. Its punches are substantial enough to launch your light frame across the room rather than just tick some damage from your HP bar. Yopu still have the majority of your HP, but this has made you realize that you can't lose focus when you are fighting now, even more so than when this was still a game.

The golem lumbers slowly towards you through the inferno, but it is stricken down by another two fire arrows, a lightning bolt, and a hail of blue-ish white balls of light.

You pick yourself up off the ground and start running towards the collapsing ice wall on the other side of the room. Icicles rain down from the ceiling, shattering into razor sharp shards that fly everywhere wildly on impact with the ground. One traces inches above your head, but you accidentally trip and then use your forward momentum to roll back into a standing run. Is that the "Drunken Fist" In action?

You make it to the other side of the ice door where the rest of the party is already taking cover.

"Jesus, are you alright Will?" Paradigm says running over to you.

"He'll be fine. It doesn't actually hurt as much as it looks like it did." Dank tank says putting his arm on her shoulder. He is right. You feel mostly alright. It was just the shock of it all…
Catler shouts out "Healing Wind!" and with a swirl of green light and a strong breeze, your HP bar quickly reaches its maximum again.

"My legs are killing me, can we take a break?" Paradigm asks. It seems like she is doing it out of concern for you more than herself.
[ ] Take a bit of a rest. You want to discuss what just happened. You want to discuss more than what just happened. You want to tell someone about the booze. Hiroshima showed you the secret of combat, its only fair that you show what you have learned as well...
[ ] Offer to carry her. You aren't actually all that hurt and Hiroshima basically just one shots everything anyways. Maybe teasing Paradigm will take your mind off everything you are thinking about right now.
[ ] Keep going. The secrets are piling up on your mind, but you cannot let them out no matter what.

>>2193374

The secrets are piling up.
Static opens the chest, he hands you static as your reward.
You take it slowly.

Why are you the one who has to carry them all?
Static asks if you are OK?
You say you are fine.

You don't know how much longer you can hold on, but you have to keep going.
Static looks up at you.
You look back at static in abject horror.

No. The static clears up. You aren't the only one who is carrying the burden.
Paradigm looks up at you. The concern is written on her face. You grip your head again and try to shake off the feeling.

Hiroshima is standing near the door ready to move on. He is watching you with his sharp Fox-tail eyes, you can't read him at all.

Catler asks "Dude, you sure you're ok?"

Dank Tank looks concerned as well.

"Yeh, I'm fine, lets just move on." you say quietly.

So you do. The party clears down the next level and a half.

You cant focus on anything and you feel a bit sick.

Your body goes through the motions, and eventually you find yourself at the dead end. Before you realize what you are doing, you walk right onto the trapdoor and drop through the floor into the boss room.

"Shit!"
"Will, are you alright!?"
"Fuck, Catler, get the lever! Get him back to full before the boss agros!"

The spikes lower and the rest of the party drops down. You are standing there perfectly unharmed.

"Wait, what?" Catler says with confusion plastered on his face.

"I jumped over them." you say.

"You can do that?" Dank Tank asks.

"I can jump in mid air with Aerial rave, so why not?" you respond.

"B-Because that’s not how it works?" he says incredulously.

You shrug.

Paradigm walks over to you and tugs on your jacket. "Will" she says your name quietly.

"Yeh?"

"At least tell me if you are gonna do something like that next time." she looks at you worriedly. "We are a team, you need to rely on me too, OK?"

"Sorry." you apologize to her.

"We have been through some shit today. Don't try and take it all yourself."
She is probably right, but you can't help it.

"Dank, use a basic agro skill then Taunting shout when I'm done."
He nods in response, and you start running across the room. Hiroshima will probably use his big damage combo again, so you need to generate as much Hate as possible since he probably can't just kill this boss in two rounds due to its shield mechanics.

You shift into your Amber Elephant Stance as you charge forward. The skeleton stands up and points his massive icicle sword at you. An arrow of magic ice flies out of it and slams into you, it slows you down briefly and does some damage that might worry a caster, but your slow resistance is already high thanks to you Bully Moose Jacket, and amber elephant stance doubles it. You continue forward almost unimpeded and then you disappear into a flurry of ice and snow.

While you run in, under your Fox tail illusion, Dank Tank moves in and starts attacking it. He swings his sword out in front of him, pointing it at the skeleton, then drives it into him with all his momentum. The skeleton loses its focus on where you might be as it turns to attack the tank with its massive icicle. You launch yourself high into the air behind it, and for a second, you float as if you are weightless.

Your weapon glows blue and you notice Paradigm pointing at you with her staff. Keen edge. It would seem she recognized the animation and thought you could use a boost. "Assassinate!" You hurtle down at the boss and slice through the skeleton's back. For a second, time seems to freeze. The room turns white, then red energy explodes out from where you struck it and massive black kanji appears behind you.
You always loved that effect, but what you love more is the metric fuck ton of hate it generates, even more than a literal straight up taunt skill like Howling Anchor. Dank tank takes that as his cue and activated his Taunting shout, spiking his hate even higher than yours.

The skeleton slams his icicle into Dank Tank's shield, but the Guardian stands strong against it, only loosing some minimal HP.

Catler tops him up with his basic heal, and he flashes a thumbs up at the Were Cat.

Hiroshima unleashes his Flare arrows into the boss and the inferno returns.

The skeleton is down to 2/3rds of his HP.

"Foolish humans!" a voice that you have never heard before booms out from the skeleton. "Do you really think you can defeat me?!"

"Yes!"
"We just did it like 4 times yesterday"
"Why do you even bother with the shitty one liners dude, we're just gonna keep trashing you"

The three of them shout out one after another in response.

"Bah! One day I will defeat you and be freed of this prison! It is only a matter of time! I am immortal!"

"We are too dipshit!"
"And you haven't even killed one of us yet."

"AAAAARGH! DAM YOU COOL KIDS CLUB!" the skeleton yells as a blue shield materializes around him and he starts firing icicles into the line of mages.

Wow, that’s actually pretty funny. You would almost feel sorry for it if it wasn't bent on the destruction of humanity.

This phase is a piece of cake for this party since you have 2 tanks with several choices of CC moves.
"Grizzly Slam!" you shout, smashing into the shield with the full weight of your body.

"Stop that, you pathetic bug!" the skeleton yells at you.

You respond by jumping up, then activating Aerial Rave and swinging your foot into the shield as well with Dragon's Tail.

You wonder why you yell the names for some skills, but not others…

4Dank2Tank0 smacks into the blue dome with his shield, then proceeds to back up a step and throw it unceremoniously at the dome. It vanishes.

"Dam you Humans! I will destroy you!" it shouts swinging its sword at him again. Incredible, it missed against a guardian… That’s like a ten percent chance of happening if this was a game. Maybe the skeleton is just too mad to act intelligently. /pol/ tends to do that to people IRL, so maybe that works here too.

You hear Hiroshima yelling from behind you and you can guess that means Paradigm used Mage Howling again. She doesn't use any more skills, probably saving her global CDs for when the ranged CC phase starts.

Catler is just standing there watching since he knows that Hiroshima can one shot this phase anyways and everyone is still at full hp. He is doing the same thing as Paradigm.

Hiroshima unleashes his double arrows and they splash into the skeleton again. Combined with the damage from the inferno, he drops into the red and it surrounds itself with its yellow shield.

"D- Dam you all!!" It shouts desperately "You know I will just come back, don’t you?!"

"Yeh, we are kinda counting on it." Catler says.
"How the hell else are we supposed to get exp?" Adds Dank Tank.

This is just a bit cruel. Rather than even bothering to do its special attack, the skeleton just tosses his sword behind him and lowers his shield.

"JUST END ME DAM YOU!" "GRANT ME THE PEACE OF DEATH FOR ANOTHER HOUR I BEG OF YOU!"
You assume from that statement that it takes him an hour to respawn.

"Finally, you are getting with the program." says Hiroshima.

The skeleton kneels to the ground and the party finishes it off again.

"Dammit, no loot again." Hiroshima says as he hands everyone their share of the meager gold drop.

Out of all the things you have seen so far in this world, this has got to be the most ridiculous.

"As much as I love it up here," he says through gritted teeth indicating it is quite likely the opposite of that, "my guild is centered there and we are trying to get as many of us back as possible now."

"Oh." you say.

So that’s why they have been raiding so much.

You kinda get how the guy feels. Back when you played a lot more, you were in a guild. They were like a family to you and helped you get through the tough times after your parents kicked you out. A couple of them are stuck here as indicated by your friends list, but the guild collapsed a long time ago and you haven't proactively sought them out for much since then. Maybe if it was still around, you would feel more motivated to get out of here and join them, but for now, aside from the earlier lever weirdness, things are going fairly well for you here.

That’s probably not the same for everyone.

"Anyways, you guys should add us, if you ever feel like raiding some more, call us up. If we are still around that is."
You do so. As odd as they are, they seem like decent enough people. At the end of the day, even the people who you generally thought of as insane internet Nazis are still human.

You and Paradigm say goodbye to the <Kool Kids Klub> guys and start heading back to the house.

"So, what do you think of them?"

"What do you mean?" she asks.

"You know those guys are well, Nazis, right?"

"Didn't seem like it to me. At least not until the end…"

"I still feel kinda sorry for the skeleton."

"Yeh, that must be a sucky life. And we thought we had it bad."

"Pfft." you cant help but stifle a laugh. "To be fair, he does want to destroy all of humanity." you say.

"Can you blame him?" she asks. That’s also a fair point.

"Nope, I guess I can't."

Despite everything, you feel like going out and raiding with those guys was actually a pretty good choice, because you feel a lot better now than you did earlier.

"Hey Will?"

"Yeh?"

"What do you think we should be doing?"

You aren't sure, so you try to dodge the subject "Hey, whats your name anyways?"

"Certainly. Took you long enough to ask. Its Sarah, now stop dodging the question." Shit, she caught you…

"What do you mean dodging the question? Don't you want to know my name?" you try to play it off

"Will, right?"

"Yep." you say, defeated in an instant, you feel like the skeleton.

"I mean, its kinda obvious considering how easy you responded to it the first time I called you that." Dam she is perceptive. You are out of your depth here, so you give up and try to think of an actual answer.

"Alright fine. What do I think we should be doing?"

"Yeh."

"Want to open a bar?"

"Pfft. Are you serious? We are stuck in another world that is basically a video game and the first thing you think about when asked what you want to do is open a bar?"

You feel a bit embarrassed, you thought it was a good idea.
"Whats wrong with a bar?" you ask.

"Nothing, actually that sounds like a fine plan… I just expected something like "Go on a grand adventure to defeat evil." or "Cross the country to find my long lost brother" or something. It just took me by surprise is all. "

"Alright then, what do you want to do?"

"I dunno. That’s why I asked you." This girl! She is trying to steal your hopes and dreams and claim them for herself! What a theif!

"If anything," she says, "I think I want to save Ari."

"Who?" You ask.

"My best friend. She is stuck all the way in big apple."

"That’s noble of you." you say. Somehow, you don't really feel like you are in a position to be saving anyone, but you don't share that part.

"Thanks, but I guess its kind of just a pipe dream. A heroic fantasy. We are probably worse off than she is if we are going by location, I just hope she can find someone to rely on too." She echoes your thoughts with her own.
You aren't sure if you could call yourself reliable, but you think you will give it your best shot. Its better than doing nothing, right?

"Maybe if we sell enough beer, we can buy our way there?" you say.

"Maybe."

"We can buy a cart and sell it in the plaza until we can afford somewhere better."

"Maybe." she says again.

"I am sure that we can do something if we really try, I mean just look at yesterday."

"Yeh. You are probably right." she says.

She still seems a little downcast, so you try and think of a way to break out of the mood. Haha, as if you could do that, you have Asperger's.

Instead, you just do what you are good at. Something socially retarded. You pick her up and start running back towards the house.

She reaches up and pinches your cheeks rather hard. Ow. It doesn't do any damage, but it still hurts.

"Hey, if you don't put me down before we get back to town, I'm gonna get mad!" she whines

"Nope." you say. Not putting you down until we get home!"

She pinches your nose.

"Guid id." you say.

She laughs a bit. "No, not until you put me down."

"Phine, ill jud talg lige dis for da reds ob my libe."

"That long? I thought we were just going back home?"

"Nobe. Dad shib haz zailed." you say. "Prebare to be carried."

"Promise?" she asks. Shit, did you just walk into that on your own?

You go quiet. Was that this was what you were aiming for? If she has gone back to teasing you, maybe its ok to put her down now…

No. On second though, not yet. "I'll Garry you undil I can'd run annybore." you say.

Running is what you are good at after all... You have always been running for the last 4 years. From one job to the next, through three states, and back and forth in a rush to finish all your classes. Is it running away? You aren't sure. If you ever stop running forward, who knows what will catch up with you? You just keep going, one step after another. That’s how life is.

You look out at the horizon. The mountains that surround the city loom in the distance and the twilight cast by the Midnight Sun stretches along their slopes.

That’s when you notice it. That’s when you stop running. If that means what you think it does, you aren't sure if there will be anywhere else left for you to run…

"Will?" she lets go of your nose. "Why are you stopping so soon?"

You don't respond.
Instead she follows your line of sight and stares off towards the looming mountains.

She grips onto your arm tightly. "Will…

"I'm scared."
You hold her closer.

You can only see six lit beacons.

One is missing and the darkness is creeping in.

Next thread Wednesday at 4 pm. be there or be a fucking polygon.

If anyone is still around, I will be up a while longer for questions, comments, concerns, shitposts, and of course spoilers.

What mmos do you play/played?
>>
>>2194125
None at the moment, I am kind of disappointed in what the genre has to offer as of now.

As for played, I have probably gotten maxed accounts on at least 12 or 13 different ones, but then again, some of those were probably expanded on after I stopped.

The most experience I have in any one game was Runescape, which I played for a solid 12 years and clocked over a year in game time on. Before I quit, I had 97 to 99 in every stat except invention, which came out around when I finally quit, and had a fortune of several billion. Unfortunately Jagex has fucked the game up beyond any possible redemption as far as I can tell now. People can buy the stats I wasted my youth getting with rw currency, so it is completely pointless to me, PVP is lame beyond all measure. Oldschool is to depressing to make a new character on.

The MMO I am looking forward to the most is Ashes. Im just hoping it wont be another total flop like every single other good looking concept on the platform.

Other anime you like? How long have you been writing?
>>
>>2194144
I dont write much, the only time i really have is for eenglish classes. I read a ton though.

My favorite recent anime was konosuba, best isekai since LH imo.
>>
>>2194145
also fuck English teachers. worst scum of the planet. Teach you nothing but their leftist bullshit. everything i learned i learned from reading classic fantasy, classic sci fi, and whatever weeb shit i find worth reading
>>
>>2194146
My English teacher in high school was pretty good. How much of this is planned? I'm guessing the bar stuff is throwing you off?
>>
>>2194147
Nope, bar shit is just fine with me.

about 5 % is planned, thats probably why I generally take so long to write up posts.

I have an outline of events that will happen eventually regardless of what players do unless they actively go looking for them. I have mentioned all the major original plot hooks in story so far except one. you already have a hint in the story though.
>>
>>2193937
I meant to use the massive hate with the buff that nullifies hate and converts it to damage for your own attacks, which we triple blow trigger.

And after the hate is reset/taken from us, we can dual fist another assassinate.

>She is stuck all the way in big apple.
Well that's a thing.
>We are probably worse off than she is if we are going by location
Ha! It's funny because her friend's gonna get caught up in the Food Riots!
>>
>Look at info on servers
>Korean server
Bet the northern part of the region is only inhabited by Kim Jong Un
>>
>48 in game hours has passed
>South American server is still up

The brazilian horde is being holded?

>>2194458
>End game is servers combining and world lagging to death
>>
>>2194148
How about a traveling booze cart? Going from village to village.
>>
>>2195021
We're in the only major city in the area. I think the closest city was somewhere like Maine? Though there's probably a bunch of NPC villages scattered here and there.
>>
>>2194458
You can only pray that <MAGA> actually builds a border wall before the last of the South American player cities collapse

>>2195651
There are two non player cities in the area one is Range, which is at the foot of the mountains, and the other is the missing city, which is somewhere in the Aleutian Islands, which in game were full of fae and called the Illusion islands. The fae do not let anyone into the city until they complete part of a level 85 quest chain.

Alaska is a cold and lonely place in this world considering everywhere north of the mountains is full of level 80+ undead and shrouded in darkness 24/7 by the Entropic King’s magic.
>>
>>2195680
So what you're saying is, when the plotline from season 2 about the game starting to lose it's game-logic occurs, Alaska is fucked?
>>
>>2195693
The lore is that as long as the Midnight Sun remains, no undead can set foot within its light.
The midnight sun is a magic barrier made by the ancients composed of 7 braziers on top of mountains and 1 on top of the guild hall. If all the mountains go out, The Midnight Sun will set and the dead will ravage the land.
>>
>>2195731
Sorry for getting nitpicky about this, but when you say the dead will ravage the land, do you mean just Alaska or all of America?
>>
>>2194188
Yeh, that’s what I thought you meant, more or less. The main problem was that the boss has phases where he becomes damage immune until he is hit with enough CC.
You would have used Kung fu action, Indomitable, soul infusion, triple blow, Dual Fist, and then assasinate if Hiroshima didn’t literally one shot the phase before the previous turn where you had to use melee CC to drop it’s shield ended.

Here is a breakdown of Hiroshima’s damage:
Flare Arrow is 10d5+10, it is the main Single target DPS skill for sorcerer, most sorcerers spam this every turn with Ultimagica as a minor action for a 25% damage increase until they run out of mana and have to swap to mana siphon.

He casts it twice per turn with Cast On Beat since it has a Cd of 0 and cast on beat can be used as a minor action to cast a spell that is on CD and take it’s remaining CD as the cool down while the skills cd is made it’s full normal cd. Similar to how the pulse bullet sprinkler build works.

On top of that, he is using Robust battery, a spec skill that gives x1.5 damage if you are at max range, Silent Sniper, an assasin skill he got as a fox tail that gives him another x1.5 damage on ranged attacks while he doesn’t move, Heavy Artillery, an Artillery officer passive that increases his damage by x1.5 if he is more than 50 feet from his target, and Paradigm buffed him with mage howling for another x1.5 for a total multiplier of 3.
The DOT from his inferno if 4K per turn vs mobs and 2k vs players before resistance.

The White death has -10% resist vs fire and 90k max HP. Hiroshima easily one rounded his second phase and made him damage immune again, but the boss just gave up after that because this was the 9th time they had done it to him.
>>
>>2195736
Who knows... as far as the lore goes, he wants to destroy all life and plunge the world into eternal darkness, but first he wants to crush Portage for defying him.

If portage falls, it would probably turn into a race against time for the top level raiding guilds to take him down.
>>
>>2195759
The fact the boss is even capable of doing that has implications, when if I recall correctly that wasn't an issue until season 2, where shit like flavor text became true and monsters stopped acting like programs. Unless you were playing it for laughs I guess.
>>
>>2195759
I am so, so sorry white death.

This makes me wonder though if you can set up a giant furnace in the arena to keep him down long term or make killing him even faster. Sure there would be politics on who gets to own the stream of xp and loot, but i would think it would be a good step towards figuring out how to automate the braziers.
>>
Well since the white walker's are comming. Maybe we should start organizing a defense for the city's in Alaska and since the KKK are the only ones doing something maybe we can join then in the future.

But we should definetly sell the knowledge of brewing for the guild companies. and do it at a high price of course. <ProductionHo!>, <Grand Junction> and the <49erS>
>>
>>2195771
Ah, it's like that Return of the Goblin King event, but for Alaska. Looks like nobody did the quest to keep the beacons lit so the undead started approaching. Best rectify that soon before it turns into a real clusterfuck.
>>
Well look at it this way:

At least level grinding wont be just dull dungeon runs anymore.
>>
>>2196390
We need to make people care about it first. It's been 48hrs and people are more worried in acquiring stuffs then wanting to do quest.

Hopefully we can do something and grab some guys so we can go up there.
