You would never get used to the stench of the lower levels of Nar Shaddaa, then again with as much sewage and pollution that was being pumped this far down that was a given. You couldn’t believe that someone the First Order was looking for would go so far down into the corrupt guts of the trade moon, but given the 900,000 credits they were offering were far too good to give up the hunt. Turning up the collar of your jacket you continue down, hugging your jacket close to you as a rush of hot air from the thermal vent that sent the residual smoke from the incinerators up to heat the upper city.

This had been the fourth bounty you had taken since you had landed your freighter, The Nightshade, a week prior. It had been a veritable hunting ground and it was quickly becoming worse as more and more hunters flocked to the space. The thought alone made the grip on your WESTAR-44 pistol tighten, as it had become far more frequent for less honorable hut'uune to murder their competitors. Being this far down meant that you wouldn’t be found in that case and when you hear the rattle of a few pipes in a dark corridor it only reaffirms your caution.

Continuing down the wide and dimly lit corridor you went over the information you knew about your target.

Your prey was a small time contractor for Sonn-Blas who had had a change of heart before the big push the First Order was taking. A number of Thermal Detonator batches had been faulty and caused a number of troopers who had tried to use them fall victim to their own weapons. The Nerf Herder had gotten smart however and ran as far away as he could. While the First Order certainly had the Hutts on watch, they decided to outsource the work to the free market.

900,000 alive, 300,000 dead. The only question was, which way were you planning on taking the bastard in?

While 300,000 credits was no laughing matter, the fact that they were willing to shell out three times for a living prey certainly sweetened the deal. Thumbing the holster strap on and off you focus outwards, listening for any sort of sound or indication of life. If your intel had been good, your prey was on this level of the city. Of course this particular sector of the city was in the O’Djdai slums; Seems the Sarlacc-For-Brains really did pick the deepest shithole on the planet.

Turning the corridor you barely dodge out of the way of a swoop bike as the no doubt drugged pilot takes a wide turn at the next junction. Muttering to yourself you stick close to the wall and proceed cautiously down the corridor. Passing beneath a number of flickering bulbs you feel the tickle of eyes on your back and slowly unhook the handle of your blaster and prepare yourself; Just in case.

Your blaster clears the warn leather holster with an ease, twirling as your hand pushes your billowing jacket open. Squeezing the hair trigger you watch as an expanding blue ring of stun energy presses into the chest of your cloaked adversary.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF6RDpjGh3A

Or at least, it would have if they weren’t a shimmering blue apirition.

There was no mistaking it as you stared at the figure in the dark brown cloak and white robes of the traditional Jedi. You had seen the face before you in holorecordings of the Galactic Civil War when you were growing up, and knew the scar that resided on the right cheek from the months you had spent beneath his tutelage a long, long time ago.

You go to say ‘Master’ but manage to bite back that old training.

“Skywalker.” You say quietly, quickly holstering your pistol as he fully removes his hood.

“Daxter.” He says, rolling his shoulders before looking at you retreating weapon “Such an uncivilized weapon.” He Chides.

“What are you doing here?” You ask, your jaw tight as you overlook the young man before you. He only gives you the same sagely smile he always had whenever children asked him silly questions.

“I think by my appearance you already know.” He retorts, leaning beside the railing that rested by the hollow vent.

“I know what it means, what I am asking is why?” You ask, feeling your anger rising as you approach the apparition.

“You can feel it, even if you don’t want to admit it. It’s time.” He says, gesturing out into the expanse before you.

“Cut the Shab, Master; I’m not one of your starry eyed students…not anymore.” You speak with a venom, mentally kicking yourself for your slip that you KNEW he would catch.

The Grin he flashes you tells you he did. “Maybe not, but you complete the set. One Student.” He says, looking towards the sky neither of you could see. “One Failure.” He frowns and you feel your hands clench remembering no doubt the same event. However when he looks to you you feel the anger that fills you slowly fade away, replaced instead with the serenity the man had filled you with during his teachings.

“And one Graduate.” He says, reaching a hand out and you feel the slight tug on your chest as the crystal that rested around your neck floats towards the ghost.

“And just ‘how’ did I graduate, Master?” You growl “If you haven’t noticed I don’t wear a goofy robe or run around with a laser word.” You continue, gesturing down to your current undercover gear.

He just chuckles, and with the wave of his hand the long vibro-knife you kept on your hip slides out without a sound. “It might not be impressive as a lightsaber, but the fact that you keep it charged shows you haven’t forgotten.” He teases, rolling the blade in his wrist before holding it back out to you.

You take it with a grimace, sheathing it before continuing the conversation.

“It means nothing! It’s a weapon! I’m not a Padawan anymore, I’m a Mando’ad Beroya! I have a family, a culture, a home! Something you took away from me!” You yell, encroaching on the young Jedi Master.

You see him visibly flinch as you announce these facts but he recovers just as quickly before returning a simple fact:

“It doesn’t change that you haven’t killed your quarry. You still let the code guide your life, even if it is in a...darker path.” He argues.

His declaration gives you pause as you looked over the blade that was held in your hand. He did have a point in that you had a history of taking in your charges alive, even if the bounty was higher if they came back in a pieces. You had always excused the behavior as being more of a challenge, and it had brought you honor in the eyes of House Vizsla. However the reality of it was simple: The Jedi Code you followed was far more important to you than the Mandalorian one.

While you were by no means a strict adherence, and many of your quarries were handed over missing something they started with, you still refused to take a life if it could be avoided. You even still wore a Kyber Crystal around your neck, and once upon a time it had found itself at the heart of a lightsaber. When Ben had turned against Master Skywalker you had been one of the few students who had refused to turn away from the Code. Outnumbered and overpowered you were beaten handily, your saber cut in half and your face permanently scared with a cut that ran through your right eye.

But you had survived, though you could not say the same for the others.

You awoke in an escape pod drifting above Dantooine, being grabbed by scavengers hoping for a cheap payout. Ever since you had turned away from the code, at least actively. You had closed yourself off from The Force and taken up one of the few things you had ever been good at: Fighting.

“What do you even want me to do? You’re a ghost, I’m a bounty hunter and if you hadn’t noticed; I’m in the middle of a job.” You point out, sheathing the Vibro Knife.

There’s a pause as Luke looks around before with a jerk of his hand a yelp is heard, a body flying out from a hall and landing at your feet. Looking between the body and the Jedi Master he just gives you a shrug and looks the other way. Confirming that he had, in fact, just dragged out the person you had spent the last six hours chasing you give a slight groan. Even after nearly twenty years the man could act like a child.

Drawing your Blaster Pistol you fire it at the man, watching him jerk as he screams out before going unconscious “Okay, I get it you want the job out of the way. NOW what?” You ask, rolling your eyes.

“That is for you to decide, Daxter; But if you’re anything like your father I know you’ll make the right one.” Luke says with a smile.

Of course it’s more nonsensical Jedi advice.

“Yeah, yeah.” You say, waving him away as you slap a pair of restraints on the unconscious man.

“May The Force be with you, Daxter Antilles.” Luke says, as you walk away.

Turning to look he’s gone, and you can’t help but feel a small smile rise as you walk towards the nearest turbolift.

Placing the body into the turbolift you press a number up to the ‘surface’ level of the city when you hear a number of footsteps behind you.

“It looks like we were right to follow you, Bantha Poodoo.” You hear and turning around you feel yourself internally groan.

A trio of rather well armed gentlemen stood in the open space, the lead one’s foot keeping the turbolift door from closing. Judging by the colors they were Black Sun thugs, Black Sun thugs who clearly had no idea just who they were messing with.

“I’m warning you now, picking a fight with me is not worth the credits.” You explain, making a motion to stick your hands into your pockets when the lead thug presses a blaster pistol to your chest.

“No sudden moves and you’ll live to see the planetrise.” He attempts to threaten, though you knew he was nothing but hot Tibanna Gas

If you've never played a weaver quest I'll give you the run down of things as simply as I can:

1. Depending on your situation you might have a bonus or detriment to a roll due to circumstance.
2. Often i'll call for d100's with a DC appropriate of the situation, though there will be d20's as well for combat.
3. At random I sometimes flip the crit success and failure numbers simply because I don't want you to all get too comfy.
4. Just have fun, make choices with your heart and the character and you'll be in for a fun ride of amazing moments and certain failure

With both your hands up you were in little position to bargain your way out of trouble, however Skywalker did have a good point: Your Vibro-Knife was sharp, fully charged and positively dying to be used. Looking down at the barrel of the blaster and sigh.

“You really, really don’t want to do this, punk.” You warn, narrowing your eyes in feign-anger. In reality you were desperately reciting the old mantra you were taught when you first opened yourself up to The Force.

You could already feel the crawl of energy as you immerse yourself in the galaxy around you for the briefest moment. You had forgotten how...peaceful it was, even on Nar Shaddaa; Which was perhaps the most corrupt planet next to Coruscant itself. Shaking yourself mentally out of the nebulous feeling of peace you feel the Knife in its sheath on your hip, as well as the slow breathing of the man in front of you as he pokes you again with his blaster.

It was time to act.

With a mental tug the blade leaps into your hand in a reverse grip, the vibrogenerator already humming as you bring the blade across, cutting through the blasters barrel with ease. You follow the cut up with an elbow to the face, the aforementioned part of your anatomy located quite pleasantly close to his face. You hear the slight ‘crunch’ of his nose breaking as you continue the combo, punching the man across the face with your free hand as you reach down to your waist, drawing your Blast Revolver as he topples backward.

well, the more used of the lightsaber crystals is Kyber not Kaiburr however all three exists here.

Adegan being the more common of the two.

Kyber are rarer, as it takes longer to bond with the crystal and imbue it with the force rather than it having a natural connection to the wielder and the force.

The Kaiburr Crystals on the other hand are the rarest as they are the strongest crystals and shards of the legendary Kaiburr Crystal artifact that was destroyed.

The two accompanying thugs are clearly surprised at their leader falling back clutching his face as his blaster falls in two. With as startled as they are it’s like gundarks in a barrel as you fire two shots in rapid succession, the still stun-set blaster sending both of the lugs to the ground in a heap. Stowing your weapons sigh before going though the task of rummaging through their wallets. You had warned them it wasn’t worth it, and you had docking fees to pay before you left.

Satisfied with the haul you leave the trio in a heap by the turbolift console for their trouble. They were dumb enough to mess with you, and so they could deal with the unforgiving mistress of the Nar Shaddaa nightlife. No longer being held up you ride the turbolift uninterrupted to the surface, your still unconscious charge slung over your shoulder.

You get a few strange glances from passersby as you make your way towards the Dejeck spaceport, but most as smart enough to realize you’re on ‘important business’. After paying off one of the customs officers you find you and your new repulsorsled ‘package’ in front of your ship:

The Dawntreader was old vessel from the Galactic Civil War. A Loronar E-9 Explorer, you had modified it extensively since it had fallen into your service ten years prior. Aside from the usual weapons and shields upgrades you had slaved the ship's entire systems to the cockpit to allow you to fly it solo. With all the extra space you had managed to also cram in a number of stasis cells to keep your captures alive with as little fuss as possible.

She was as up to date as you could make her, if only because she was your livelihood. Without her you couldn’t make hunts, you couldn’t make credits and you couldn’t keep hiding. At least, that’s how it used to be.

With your charge safely tucked away in the stasis cell you flicked the switch to the comms and spoke up.

“Dee-Eight, get us prepped for a drop off at Ord Mantell; I’ll be in my quarters.” You announce, a series of low chirps and rumbling hum coming back in response. “900,000 and a nice oil bath for you.” You promise before clicking the comms off.

Feeling the floor rumble slightly as the engines kicked up you take a seat in the small quarters that took up the north-east quadrant of the saucer. Flicking on the lamp you take a quick look around the spartan quarters you quickly shrug off your jacket and hang up your holster belt.

It was time.

Tugging your necklace from your chest you sit cross legged on your bed and hold your hands out, the Crystal sitting in your palms. Closing your eyes you reach out in The Force, focusing your attention on the crystal you begin to meditate. Unlike when you were a kid you focus on the past, not the present. As you begin to sink deeper into the Living Force a single emotion makes itself prominent:

>A. Vengeance: Ben Solo and the First Order took everything from you, and you would ensure they would pay.
>B. Mourning: You had lost your home, your friends and your Master; You would see to the end of the fight in their memory.
>C. Courage: It would take guts to fight the First Order head on, but you knew you had what it takes.
>D. Hope: The Galaxy was in the shadow of tyranny, and they would need a beacon to flock to.
>E. Duty: You were a Jedi Knight now, it was your duty to protect the people.

You remember the people you had called friend during your time at the Jedi Temple, and the fact that they were now one with The Force. You thought of your late Master, who even though you did not speak to for the last fourteen years had come to you. At first it filled you with anger, the sort of anger that drove men to seek revenge. But as you continued to meditate it slowly ebbed away into the serenity of acceptance. While you could never bring them back from the Netherworld of The Force, you could carry the torch of their memory.

You felt The Force shift as you continued to reaffirm your emotions and open yourself further to the connection of the Living Force. You do not know how long you spent opening yourself up, however when you roused from your thoughts you found yourself hovering above your bed; The once clear crystal now a rough and milky white. Sinking back to the bed you got to your feet and made your way to the cargo hold.

You had made a habit of keeping a small workshop in the hold after the old hyperdrive cracked mid jump and had to wait a week until someone jumped by and towed you to station. Making a quick call to D8 at the cockpit you had another eight hours until you dropped out at Ord Mantell. With that in mind and a few spare ingots of Beskar for your armor you got to work...the only question was what sort of weapon did you have in mind?
>A. Keep it traditional, a single Hilt lightsaber

It takes you some time but slowly you begin to cut and shape the beskar into the familiar shapes of Lightsaber components. It is less however that you build as it is you allowing The Force to guide your hands as you work. As one hour blurs into three you feel an almost tranquil high as you remember the first time you had built a Lightsaber.

Master Skywalker had made it a point to be present for each and every one of his students when they built their first Lightsaber. You could almost feel the warmth of his hand on your shoulder again as you carve out the casings for the focusing lenses and the low rumble of his voice as he guided you through the steps. It was the lenses that were the hardest to craft, having to melt the dirt on your own shoes to get enough silicate to get an adequate focus.

With your pieces assembled you could almost feel a tear forming as you extended your hand out, The Force flowing out and weaving itself though each piece. One by one they begin to float and hover and with a wave, they begin to assemble themselves into the familiar shape of a Lightsaber hilt. As each piece continues to assemble you practically tremble as it completes, sinking into your palm.

You had taken time to decorate the outer hilt with a series of grooves that equal parts depicted the art of Mandalorian culture, but gave a firm grip on the hilt. In addition thanks to the Beskar construction the hilt itself was blaster proof and Lightsaber resistant, meaning you would not be disarmed again. Looking over the hilt you see that everything is in order, you stand up and hold the hilt vertical.

With a push of the activation button and a low rumbling ‘bwa-Thummmm’ a brilliant white blade of light overrides the pale yellow of the shops lighting. Slowly waving the blade around you hear the slight hum as it cuts through the artificial atmosphere effortlessly. Shutting it off you feel your knees go weak as you fall to the floor, overcome by the overwhelming fact before you:

You were a once more a warrior of The Force.

The lurch out of hyperspace rattled the ship slightly as you made your way back to your quarters. Donning your usual battlegear you carefully unhook the sheathe of your vibro knife, placing it on your bed before clipping the lightsaber in its place. There was no reason to get armored up, so with your jacket, blasters and lightsaber in place you made your way up to the cockpit. As the door slid open a series of angry beeps and whirrs assails you as you feel a small probe jab you in the lower abs. You reach down and gently running your head over the dome of your companion, R8-D8.
“Don’t worry, once we dock with the station you can go get your bath while I pick up the bounty.” You drawl, drawing a few of the credits you still had from the goons before lowering them to the droid.

D8 Chirps, a manipulator shooting out from his chest and grabbing the handful of plastic chips before retreating them into his body. You had picked up the droid five years back on a job on Tython, as you needed a little extra credibility to being a flight mechanic and the astromech droid fit the bill. While at first D8 was polite and well-to-do it quickly realized the position it was in and within three months was a short-tempered droid who loved credits and the finer upgrades in life. It only became worse for you when you discovered even with a deeper modulator R8’s personality matrix was female.

You step aside as the droid continues to beep and chirp down towards the landing ramp, waiting for the door to close before muttering any complaints. Looking out to the station ahead of you, you switch on the commlink and when the connection clears speak up.

“This the Dawntreader requesting docking to Dogah Station. Transmitting credentials now.” You state, pressing a pair of buttons you hear the slight blurb of the transmission. Stopping the ship’s momentum its a pregnant few moments as the spacedock authority processed the data.

You knew they wouldn’t find anything nefarious, after all you would be a cruddy bounty hunter if you didn’t have a squeaky clean ship with an alias. However as you sat there you couldn’t help but feel the same nervous tension you always did when you transmitted these false codes. However another minute of waiting passes and a green light flashes on your console as a proper voice speaks up.

“You’re clear to dock in bay 64, Mr. Jerris. Dogah Station welcomes you.”

(cont)
>>
>>2187031

With your clearance recognized you pilot the ship in with a practiced ease. Watching the stars fade into the background as the station comes closer and closer until it swallows your vision whole. When you feel the slight shake of the docking legs rumble with the connection to the staton you quickly go through the process of shutting down the engine and systems, rendering the ship inert. With The Dawntreader going nowhere you pull a small code cylinder from the console and slip it into a pouch on your belt. If someone wanted to take your ship now, they’d have to pry the cylinder from your cold, dead hands.

Making your way to the ramp you find that it has already been dropped and R8 gone. Giving a chuckle you pass the ramp you deactivate the stasis cell and give your prey an extra stun just in case as you make the journey towards the bounty desk.

It’s a uneventful ride up the turbolift to the bounty deck, though you really reaffirm to yourself that you need to invest in a repulsorsled for bodies instead of having to heft them everywhere. You get a bit of a look from the officer at the desk when you set the body down beside you.

“Hello there; I’m here to make a deposit.” You say with a bit of a smile

The desk officer is clearly used to this sort of humor and just gives you a stone look.

“Name.” He says slowly, his fingers sliding to touch at the keys of the holoterminal.

“Gallius Wester.” You reply, nudging the body beside you.

“Bounty?”

“900,000; Alive.” You answer.

The man looks at you and then peers over the desk to the body.

“500,000.” He says and you feel your eyes narrow.

“The Bounty says Ni-.” You go to speak, however the man interrupts you with a sternness you hadn’t expected from a pencil pusher.

“The contract the First Order has with rabble like you has changed. Is this generous offer not good enough for you, Bounty Hunter? Or do I have to call the troopers?” He asks with a grin.

Pulling your blaster from your holster you give it a slow twirl.

“This is a WESTAR-44, one of the most powerful heavy blaster pistols on the market. With a fast cyclic rate and reinforced powerpack it can ionize tibanna with a 20% decrease in bleed off. Now I just have one question for you.” You explain, slowly pressing the barrel to the transparisteel that separates you from the desk worker.

“Do you think your life is worth holding money from me?” You ask, flicking the switch that started the powercell’s charge process. The slow whine growing louder and louder.

“Y-you don’t scare me, p-punk.” He stammers, one hand moving from his keyboard towards the bottom of the desk and no doubt the panic button beneath it.

“Do you really want to risk it? Sure you can hit that button and you’ll be dead before your precious stormtroopers can save you.” You insist.

Theres is a pregnant pause before he looks at you with a weak flash of resistance before he sighs, and begins typing in a series of numbers into the terminal. After a few seconds he slides a card across your desk and gives you a grin. “You won’t leave this station alive.” He warns.

You shrug, and simply squeeze the trigger, a plasma bolt sizzling through the transparisteel and burrowing into the man's skull. You didn’t want to kill the man, but you really had no choice. Cuffing the bounty to the chair beside the desk you make your way back down.

1. Let the man live, he hits the button and Stormtroopers (inferring the Man works for the First Order) show up and have to be killed. Total casulties: >20

2. Attempt to stun the man, which would fail because the transparisteel would dissapate the stun, Man hits button and draws a weapon. Total casulties >21

3. Kill the man, and buy enough time to potentially get away without alerting the station security. Total casulties: 1

Just a quick PSA: You were trained within the Jedi Code over a decade ago. You have been away from that for over a decade at this point (as determined by how long ago the incident with Luke and Ben was). The Jedi Code is a distant memory to you, but a memory that lingers. You are not bound by the Code, but as determined by previous choices, you do respect its base morality. To summarize: YOU ARE NOT A JEDI IN A CLASSICAL SENSE. You were a padawan when Ben destroyed the temple. You are a bounty hunter now. You DO kill on occasion, it’s just been stated that you prefer to not.
As for the decision to kill, here is what it comes down to. If you had left them alive then they could have alerted the First Order and gotten you into trouble. Yes our blaster has a stun setting, but let me tell you this: The stun setting does not work through any solid material, such as transparisteel.

Yes I know Weaver just wrote something similar, we are sitting right next to one another.
>>
>>2187345
Don’t kill him and run as fast as possible.
Try to dodge lazer fire and leave. Total causalities: >0

I’m not saying killing is bad, just that we already established we had a no kill rule. We brought back all those other bounties and never killed one of them, because we followed the jedi code. >>2185580
“His declaration gives you pause as you looked over the blade that was held in your hand. He did have a point in that you had a history of taking in your charges alive, even if the bounty was higher if they came back in a pieces. “You had always excused the behavior as being more of a challenge, and it had brought you honor in the eyes of House Vizsla. However the reality of it was simple: The Jedi Code you followed was far more important to you than the Mandalorian one.

While you were by no means a strict adherence, and many of your quarries were handed over missing something they started with, you still refused to take a life if it could be avoided.”
>>

>>
>>2187371
You are correct, you did adhere to the Jedi Code, as you did once. You adhere to the basic morality of it all, only killing it necessary (and to merge with the Mandalorian one, if it is the best thing to meet your needs).
>>

As you round the corner you holster your pistol and sigh. It never sat well with you, but some deaths needed to happen. You were no stranger to ending a life, and The Force knew just how many people caught a blaster bolt from you when a firefight broke out. At the end of the day however you were alive and with the First Order desk clerk’s body cooling off you had at least a few minutes before security even caught wind that there was a murder.

So you go to the one place you wanted to go to lay low: the cantina. With a new deposit of credits sitting fat in your account a reward was in order for your hard work. Grabbing a tall mug of Corellian Spiced Rum you take your victory purchase to the far side where the thick transparisteel window bands around the station.

With a long draw from the mug you savor the warmth that settles into your bones. You never liked the artificial temperature most stations kept themselves at, just cold enough to be felt but warm enough to be comfortable. Propping yourself up on the railing that kept the more drunk patrons from falling down to the lower level of the cantina you look out to the stars, mulling over your drink.

Luke was dead and the whole galaxy knew it now as holorecordings of his last battle played across the holonet. It was heavily edited, and voiced over to put the Order in a good light, but it seems everyone knew it was fishy. He had said it was time, but time for what?

As the stations klaxons suddenly pick up their shrill tones you see a shape you had not expected to see in your time drop out of hyperspace. A Victory I Star Destroyer. Abruptly the klaxons cut out and a voice speaks up on the intercom.

“This is Commander Poe Dameron of the Rebel Alliance. To the occupational forces, surrender and you will be allowed to leave the system. Stay and we will be forced to fight.”

Sithspit. It just HAD to be the rebels.

The First Order’s response is clear to you and everyone else as the station vibrates, brilliant green lances of turbolaser fire towards the vessel. Before you can even drop your drink and race for your ship a dozen blaster bolts ring out in the halls as a number of stormtroopers rush up to meet them. Growling and muttering curses you come to terms that you’re now pinned in between the First Order and the Rebel Alliance.

As you look at the sound of the bolts growing closer and closer a thought occurs to you: why not have your cake and eat it too? With the shields up and combat going on there is no way the imperials would willingly let you leave, and the rebels wouldn’t give up the fight unless support came to push them away or they won. So why not make some credits while getting what you want?

Running towards the exit of the cantina you press a commlink to your ear “R8, I need you to get back to the ship and patch me into the ship out there. Yes that rebel ship. No I’m not crazy, I just think we can make some profit out of this while we get out of here.” You hang up the call as you exit the corridor and immediately your senses are screaming as a number of stormtroopers round the corner.

You look to the group of troopers with equal measures confusion and frustration.

“Isn’t there a rebel cruiser out there and you’re telling me to halt? Isn’t there something more important to be worrying about?” You ask, your hands nevertheless coming up.

“There are reports of blaster fire on multiple decks and we’re detaining you under the suspicion of treason.” The soldier replies.

Before either you or him could continue however a yell down the hall causes the trooper to jump as a group of ragtag men and women come around the corner, blaster rifles in hand. The Force around the stormtroopers swirls with a chill as your hand is already moving down towards your waist.

“Rebel Scum! Blast them!” The trooper demands, raising his gun as they all scatter

You draw your blaster and squeeze off a pair of shots, deep reverbing ‘thowms’ barking out as you dived back into the entrance of the cantina; The heat of a blaster bolt passing by your leg as it explodes against the ferrocrete paneling. The Rebels seem to have caught on, as they unload a volley of fire down the hall as you roll to your feet. Drawing your second pistol you back towards the railing, squeezing off a series of slow, measured shots to cover your retreat. Going outside would be a terrible plan, as the Rebels would no doubt attempt to rally you to their fight, and the stormtroopers would simply blast you; And if you were honest neither of those things were a pleasurable option.

The ability to think on your options however were cut off by the sight of a small, silverish sphere bouncing along the tiled floor makes the option for you. Hearing the series of beeps you make a run for the railing, mantling over it and landing with a grunt on the bar below as a rumble shakes the floor above you. Who the hell throws a thermal detonator into a room on a space station?!
You put that mental argument to the back of your mind as you stand, taking off in a run to the exit and down the hall. “D8, please tell me you’ve done it, it’s turning into a gundark nest real fast.” You call out into the commlinks, rounding a corner and making your way towards the turbolift nexus.

“Considering we’re speaking I’d say your friend was successful.” Comes back the voice of Poe.

“Thank the Force for that. Listen I’ve got a bit of an offer and I think you’ll be interested in hearing me out.” You inform, pressing a call button for a turbolift.

“And just what sort of deal do you have Mister…”

“Jerris.” You cut off with a lie. “Let’s just say I make my living doing jobs that most people can’t. You want that shield down? I can make it happen, for a price.” You explain.

“And just what would that price be?” He retorts and you can hear a small group in the background complaining about your ‘offer’.

>What do you tell him.
>A. We can discuss a contract later. Do we have a deal now?

>>

>B. I’ll have my droid transmit you a contract
Rebels are known to be stingy with money.
>>
>>2189862

“We can negotiate the full details of our contract later. However for now let’s just put it like this: you want this station and I want off it. Both of us want the shields down, but you want to make sure your agents don’t get cut to ribbons in the process. You agree right now and I can promise you that your boys won’t be dead by the time you dock.” You day with a confidence. It was a dirty move, bargaining lives for credits; but you had a point.

There’s a pregnant pause as the man no doubt weights your offer. “Fine. But if those shields are up by the time we get close you’ll be losing your pay.” Transmits over the comms.

“Glad to see you’re a man of reason, Commander Dameron. I’ll contact you again once the job is done; Jerris our.” You say with a grin as you enter the turbolift.

“Just a moment, Mr. Jerris. I’ll be patching you into our comms network so you can coordinate your actions.” He insists.

“I will be fine, I work best alone.” You insist, keying in towards the lower engineering deck.

“Consider it my part of keeping your contract. Now, what’s your callsign?” He demands.

“Red Two.” You say after a moment, recalling your father’s stories of the legendary Red Squadron. There’s a slight static as you presume Poe hooks you into their communications grid. You roll your eyes as you hear the occasional complaint across the network.

“Red 2. Meet the rest of the infiltration team. Team, meet your newest asset. Now the plan is simple: Keep the Imps busy while Red 2 here drops the shield and gets us in. Dameron out.”

You had to admit, at least the man was smart enough to give you a wide breadth to operate. Deafening the comms chatter you watch the number continue to drop as the turbolift rocketed down the station. Undoing the fasteners on your blasters you prepare yourself for what could very well happen once you made it down to the engineering deck. If you had to harbor a guess there was a squad of stormtroopers ensuring that if anyone got smart and tried to knock out the power to systems they wouldn’t succeed.

Coming down in a narrow tube with no cover wasn’t comforting to you, but you only had another fifteen or twenty seconds until your tube hit the engineering deck.

>You’ve got twenty seconds, what are you going to do with them?
>A. Cut through the roof and make your way from there

Looking up you roll your eyes as you contemplate doing perhaps the most played out trick in the book. Grabbing the hilt of your Lightsaber off your belt you activate the blade and press it into the roof of the car. Cutting a quick hole you reach out with your free hand and focus the force on it. After a moment the hole you cut pushes up and away and just as the turbolift halts you slip up into the shaft proper.

The sound of blaster fire into the now empty car worries you as you open the maintenance crawl space above the hall. It was common on these cookie-cutter stations to have the same nooks and crannies since it was easier for the maintenance droids to service if the pattern was the same. It just so happened that they made excellent getaways and hidey holes.

Shuffling down the crawlspace the few vents between you give enough of a view to confirm your theory: Ten Stormtroopers scattered about the reactors control room. However you were wrong on one count; they weren’t ordinary stormtroopers.

They were storm commandos.

You had heard rumors of these black-clad stormtroopers, trained specifically for clandestine operations that were hush-hush. If they were here that significantly upped your pay but the question now was...how were you going to proceed?

>Well?
>A. Aggressive, drop down, blaster and saber blazing.

Making your way to the far side of the engineering deck you press a button and with a slight hiss the hatch slides open. Dropping down you reach out and just barely succeed in slowing your fall with the Force, getting a weak ‘thud’ instead of a loud and alarming ‘thwomp’. Peering out from behind some of the large cooling pipes you see that sure enough, they were all focusing on the elevator where you were, and with a cursory (Though you're embarrassed to admit focused) probing with the Force reveals that the closest commando was in fact the rearguard.

Being careful to not make as much sound as possible you creep up on the lone commando, regretting for a moment that you had not brought your vibro-knife for a less obvious kill. It wouldn’t be the first time you had gotten your hands dirty, you just hoped you were fast enough to pull it off. As you stalk closer you tense yourself, filling yourself with The Force before you move.

In what feels like slow motion you cross the three feet between you and the commando, one hand slipping up and around to the throat to keep him quiet while the other got a firm grip on his head. Pulling him back towards the piping you tighten your grip and with a sharp twist you hear the muffled ‘crunch’ of his spine breaking, his body collapsing like jelly in your arms. Just as quickly as the surreal feeling of slow motion came it passes and you barely catch the falling corpse before it clatters to the ground.

One down, nine to go.

You can’t believe you were about to do this. Master Skywalker had told you the story of his rescue of his Sister and disguising himself as a Stormtrooper, but you had never imagined that you would have to do it yourself. Quietly removing your jacket you bundle up your belt and blasters in it, leaving your lightsaber to the side just so that was more to your tastes. Quickly putting on the helmet and torso plates you grimace. It was no Beskar’gam and even wearing it you felt like a copy-paste soldier; But desperate times called for desperate measures.

“DE-1138 Check in and return to your post.” A voice comes over the comms and you quickly slip the last parts of the armor on before peeking out to look at the rest of the troops.

Tapping your helmet you mute the suits helmet before continuing to pantomime a communications error. It takes a few seconds for them to get the idea and after a short debate on their end a pair of commandos beings to walk towards you. You do your best to look as relaxed as you can as they approach and one of them quickly places a hand on your suit to get a clear transmission.

“Just hold still DE, we’ll get your comms up in a jiffy.”

Will this certainly complicates things.

With the jig more or less about to be giving up you decide that perhaps it was best to strike while the proverbial iron was hot. You were almost thankful that all these suits of armor had sound dampening fields as you grab the wrist of the offending trooper before pulling him Down to meet your knee. You could feel the glass of his visor shatter as you release him to the ground to focus on his standing companion.

Blaster already raised you crouch down as a shot rings out above your head. Shooting a hand out you grab the blaster by its barrel before pulling it down and towards you, your free hand catching the troopers upper chest before letting go of the blaster and following up with a punch to the helmet. As you watch the soldier stager back to get into a fighting stance you barely lean out of the way of a pair of blaster shots from down the hall.

Deciding to speed up your attack you pull your lightsaber free before burying the pommel into the trooper in front of you. With a quick flick of the activation switch and a low ‘bwa-thwum’ a brilliant white lance shoots out and impales the trooper behind you, his body shaking as the blade continued to shake. Pulling the activated blade free you spin the hilt in your hand, the blade cleaving a moon through the air as it comes to cut into the trooper ahead of you.

Three down.

Moving from a backhand to forehand grip you deflect a trio of other shots before reaching out with a free hand to reach out and pull the blaster from the commando falling apart before you. You were far too out of practice to deflect the shots back, but you didn’t have to. Squeezing off a pair of shots you watch two of the commando’s slink back into the shadows while a third reaches towards their waist for what you presume is a thermal detonator.

You cannot have that.

Taking a moment to line up the shot you feel the Force guide your hand as you squeeze the trigger, the plasma bolt screeching across the empty space to catch the troopers hand. You watch with grim satisfaction as the detonator drops from his hand before promptly detonating in the space around him. You’re thankful for the lenses in the helmet as they polarize the light from the explosion. When the light clears you see that a trio lays scattered on the floor, not including the one who had been vaporized.

That left two, just two more commandos. The only question now was do you kill them now or stop wasting time and try and shut down the shield?

Walking up to the main console you are quick to find the shield controls and with a few switches and the pull of a dial you hear a hum whine off. You go to shoot the console when you notice something odd going on the command deck. It’s only when you realize that it’s the comms grid that you blast the console and run for your discarded clothing and weapons.

For the first time during your impromptu op you pull the commlink up to your mouth as you rip the helmet off. Flicking off the mute and deafened setting you speak up:

“Command this is Red 2; Shields are down but you better get your boys out of there. I think the Imps called in backup.” You warn, tossing your bundle of clothing into the maintenance tunnel you seal the hatch behind you.

“Copy Red 2, we’ll make this quick.” Is the only response you get back.

You can only hope.

Throwing your clothes onto top of the turbolift car you had cut your way out of prior you slide your jacket and belt on over the armor. It wasn’t comfortable but you weren’t leaving some damn fine weapons behind. Looking up the shaft you had two options: climb or risk clambering back into the turbolift car?

>Well?
>A. Get climbing
>B. May as well ride the car

Not willing to risk yourself to an ambush you reach out with the Force and after feeling out the faint feeling of the buttons you feel the slight tingle of the force as you ‘press’ it. You feel the car lurch for a moment before it rockets towards the sky and you are forced to a kneel by the acceleration. You can’t see it, but you know you’re rapidly surging towards the top most deck as you try and make sense of the behavior of the comms grid. You knew you were close to the outer rim but was there really a fleet that close?

You doubted it, but the unease that rode the force certainly worried you.

Hopping down into the turbolift car you stand there with a pistol in one hand, other hand close to gripping your saber. This wasn’t the time for semantics, it was time for good old fashioned Mandalorian slaughter. With the slight hum of the gravity breaks slowly kicking in, you tighten your grip and steel yourself in preparation for what might be on the other side. When the door opens however you are certainly surprised.

Aside from a number of Storm Commandos there was one person that screamed to you not just due to the fact that unlike the other carbon-copy soldiers they did away with the helmet; But the fact that The Force itself swirls around the individual.

“You must have quite the gall, coming up here alone.” The man says with a snarling grin.

Looking him over you have to ask yourself if he’s serious, the troopers around him looking at you for a moment before being dismissed with a glare.

“I was able to take down almost a dozen of your ‘elite’ commandos. What makes you think you’re scary?” You retort.

Instead of responding the man simply reaches a hand out and a familiar shaped cylinder before with a high pitched ‘hiss’ a scarlet red blade ignites the space.

“Because unlike my men here, I have been chosen!” He declares, pointing his blade at you.

You manage to feign shock as you look over his blade as you drop your blaster, doing your best to ignore the growing grin on his face.

“That’s right, Rebel Scum! You’re in the presence of a Paladin-to-be of the First Order.” He sneers, pointing the blade at you as he slowly stalks closer. “And with Skywalker gone and the Jedi with him there is no one who can stop us!” He all but cheers to himself.

“So kneel, whelp. And I might make your death painless.” He mocks, waving the blade slowly as he stops before you.

You look at his blade, then to his face before slowly giving him a grin of your own.

“You’re wrong on two counts there.” You say, raising your hands up to keep the man from outright gutting you.

“And what are those?” He demands, pushing the blade until it is but an inch from your plasteel protected chest.

Your grin becomes predatory as with a mental flick your lightsaber hilt jumps to your right hand and with a ‘bwa-thwum’ the white blade comes to life as you push his blade away. With another mental command your blaster jumps to your free hand as you squeeze off a pair of shots at the storm commandos to your left.. You can see his eyes widening at the sight of the the pure blade of light before you as he comes to the startling realization.

“Number One.” You declare, darting a pair of weak slashes to push the ‘would-be Paladin’ away from you as you continue to shoot at the alarmed troopers. “I’m not a rebel. And Two”

Dropping your pistol to your holster you grab the hilt in both hands, eyes darting from the saber wielding sithspit to the four remaining you feel the bloodthirsty grin plant itself on your face.

“You’re worth a lot of credits to me dead.”

You can see the fear in his eyes and the whole room feels cool as you feel the soldiers tremble in shock before the light of your saber. The Jedi had been deified thanks to Luke’s actions during the Galactic Civil War, and after his passing the symbols that signified the Jedi were awe and terror inspiring alike. You had to admit you’d savor this feeling whenever you got the opportunity to cherish the feeling.

With a roar the man charges towards you, the cape billowing behind you as he goes for a stab. It’s clear he refuses to believe the reality, that there was a force user who wasn’t suckling the teat of the Supreme Leader. His intentions are far too telegraphed, the methodical superiority torn away by your surprise leaving an arrogant and impulsive desire for blood.

Perhaps you’d have to answer his call for blood; He just wouldn’t like where it came from.

Releasing your two handed grip you sidestep the telegraphed lunge, your free hand snapping out to wrap around one of his arms. Before you can even let him respond you twirl the blade before bring it crashing down against his arms at the elbow. Dropping his now seperated arm you kick him down onto his back as he continues to scream and tremble as he looks at the stumps that failed at his sides.

Tuning out his screams you reach out and grab the falling cylinder of his lightsaber before jerking it towards your free hand. Catching it in a reverse grip you ignite it, a blend of red and white light dancing along your black armor as you bring the two blades to rest at your sides.

Time to mop up the rabble.

Deactivating your new trophy you deflect a salvo of shots, running to the right as you whip the deactivated hilt in the other direction. You can feel it as it flies along and with subtle little taps of The Force it flies true towards its target. It’s intended target realizing too late it’s propose as with another will of the Force and a ‘snap-hiss’ the blade ignite only a few feet away, a veritable whirling dervish as it flies straight through its target and heads for the second.

You do not have time to watch however.

While all this is happening you’re charging the closest commando, occasionally deflecting those bolts that got through. They were being smart with their fire but it was time to show them that having good aim meant nothing if you had lousy fists. With a Force assisted hop you’re within a foot of your prey and as you come down your deactivate your saber.

You can feel the surprise of the man as he brings his rifle up to fire but you bring the hilt smashing down on his rifle, knocking it down before you proceed to follow up with a left hook. Continuing the combo you bring your blade hand in, decking him in the ribs before bringing the hand high and smashing the pommel into his helmet with a ‘crack’. Wrapping your arm around the man’s head you twist the two of you right as a pair of bolts slams into the space you once occupied.

Your new friend however isn’t as lucky and with a groan falls to the ground dead.

Looking to the man who had shot them you simply roll your eyes. “Did you think that would have caught me off guard?” You question, stalking towards him, saber still deactivated.

“You weren’t paying attention!” He exclaims.

You only shoot him a grin as with a jerk a searing red blade explodes out from his back.

“Just like you, buckethead.” You mock, pulling the saber through before deactivating it as it lands in your hand.

That was easy.

Looking over to the now thankfully unconscious wannabe you mull over your options. He wasn’t good to you alive, but then again the alliance might pay a handsome sum to get the chance to interrogate him. On the same hand the First Order might show leniency if you sent him packing to them. Or you could keep your promise and kill the di’kut.

Sighing you leave him where he lay for now. You could pick him up once you finished checking out just exactly what stumpy was communicating with. However you don’t need to check as the answer appears in the space outside the station. It must have been quite massive, as it was on the far side of the Alliance craft and the station itself. Given it’s dagger shape there was no questioning that it was a KYD design, however seeing the streaking green trails of turbolaser fire confirm that whatever it was, it wasn’t friendly.

You don’t even hesitate as you run towards your prone capture before you nearly topple over from the impact of turbolaser bolts shakes the unshielded station. You almost regret deactivating the shield generator as you haul the armless cretin towards the turbolift. Pulling your commlink to your lips and shout out.

“Red 2 to Station Forces, I suggest you get the hell out of here if you can.” You warn, pressing the button to the docking deck.

“I’m afraid that’s not possible Red 2, we were shuttled aboard from out of system.” Comes back one voice, with a series of other more panicked voices worried for their survival.

Great. Just great.
You were going to regret this later, you know you will, however given everything you quickly speak up. “Docking Bay 64 is your best best. If you want to get out of here alive I suggest you be there when I take-off. Red 2 out.”

The moment the doors open you’re nearly blown off your feet as in explosion tears a hole in the hull. Just as quickly as you’re pressed against the back wall you feel yourself become weightless as you tumble towards the opening in the hull. Grabbing your lightsaber you ignite it and slam it into the durasteel hull, grunting as your arm is nearly ripped from its socket as the armless dark jedi slips from your shoulder. Your barely fast enough to grab him by the cape that connects to his armor, thankful for the egotistical design of the sith as you smell the minor scent of ozone as the emergency particle shielding came online to reduce atmosphere loss.

Deactivating your saber you slowly get to your feet, though given the jolt of pain that jerks through your arm you won’t be using it any time soon. Grabbing the cape in a firmer grip with your left hand you have two options:

>A. Drag the man to your ship and hope you don’t get blown into space.

As much as you hate it, a job is a job and you were going to get paid. You actually turn around and start leaning back as you drag the crippled man towards the docking bay as quick as you can. Every thirty seconds or so another blast would slam and echo in the station, and you couldn’t help but feel your frustration mounting as the caption of the ship took his sweet time.

You’d be sure to find out who it was and see if the Alliance wanted to pay you for the job later.

Two minutes into your frantic rush to keep your hostage you are lucky enough to run into a trio of rebel operatives. After a very frantic and brief explanation of your current ware they take the frankly heavy burden off you as the four of you rush for the hangar. The large entrance doors have already been blown open and every few seconds a few more blaster toting civvies run into the awaiting hangar. By the time you clear the destroyed door you see maybe thirty operatives in all.

It would be a tight fit but you could make it work.

“Alright people!” You shout, doing your best to hide the limpness in your right arm “Make a line and be ready to board double time.” You order as you walk up to the raised entry ramp.

“D8, pop the ramp it’s me.” You inform, stepping back as the hydraulics flicker to life. “we’ve got a few guests so try and doll yourself up would you?” You tease as you walk up the ramp, the echo of a dozen bootfalls behind you.

The moment you clear the portal into the ship you break into a run, ignoring the throbbing pain in your arm as you practically throw yourself down the corridor. By the time you make it to the cockpit D8 has already plugged herself into the ship's computer and the moment you slot the code cylinder into its place you hear the reactor wirr up in a hum as the engines bark out.

“Commander Poe this is Red 2, prepare a welcoming party we’ve got wounded incoming.” You state, releasing the docking clamps with a dull ‘ka-thunk’

“Red 2 this is Command we don’t read any escape pods, what is your position?” Comes back as ahead of you the shields holding in the atmosphere cut out.

“You’ll know us when you see us, Red 2 out.” You assure, the repulsor field turning the ship about to face the open hangar as you throw the throttle forward.

Like a stray sun ray The Dawntreader rockets clear of the station and away from the massive star destroyer behind you. It would be a few seconds to the Victory but things were not looking good. Even with your speed and shields you pick up a veritable torrent of T.I.E’s headed your way.

The Dawntreader was certainly fast, however a lighter starfighter could always catch up; But that was why you were not only fast, but heavily armed. You look back at R8 as she stops working the flight systems and instead parked into the weapons systems. As you steer the light frigate towards the growing Alliance ship your ship shakes as a pair of blasts smashes against the shields. In a response, you feel the subtle thud as the twin laser cannons above and below the saucer section bark back a response.

You knew there was no way your trust astromech droid could take out the inevitable swarm of T.I.E’s that were no doubt closing. However she could scare them, if not outright destroy a few. The almost happy burble of chirps that followed seeming to confirm your thoughts.

“Atta girl!” You praise her, throttling the Treader into a roll before banking down to the Rebel Cruiser.

All around you greenish turbolaser fire fires from the ship below you as you continue to dive. As this occurs an idea comes to you.

“D8, cut the linear compensators and engines!” You bark as you pull ‘up’.

As D8 obeys you continue to plummet as you spin around in place. Now you were ‘falling’ backwards through space and facing the swarm behind you. Grabbing the targeting stick you squeeze down on the large, worn trigger as a brace of blaster cannons spray out from around the cockpits transparisteel opening. You watch in satisfaction as the growing swarm scatters, a trio being caught and vanishing in a burst of light.

You weren’t done yet however.

Before you flipped back over and reactivated the compensators you clicked down a small yellow stud. With a twin pair of ‘beow’’s a duo of missiles streak forward and after a few seconds of flight they detonate in a blistering white light. Giving a bloodthirsty cackle you throw the thrusters back to full as you bank below the rebel cruiser, slowing down only when the bottom hanger bay can be seen.

You’re quick to hand over the controls your droid as you make your way to the ramp to prepare for your first meeting. You feel the slight shudder of the tractor beam grabbing hold of your ship and tucking it into the safety of the larger ship. As you wait for confirmation you look about and see that around you were awestruck eyes and thankful looks you had not expected. It made sense in away, you had saved their lifes; But why would you not?

They’d make for a hefty bonus.

“Welcome to the Liberator, Red 2” Poe says over the commlink as a pair of bangs bits the lid of the ramp.

“Permission to come aboard?”

“But of course.”

Dropping the ramp you step back to allow the wounded to exit with their allies. You could get yourself treated later once you got paid. With the last of the men and women odd you make your way down the ramp, however something stops you halfway down.

It was a familiar face, but one you had not expected to see again.

“Red Two, huh?” The aged woman asks with the smallest smile, her chocolate eyes meeting your green. “I was at that battle you know.”

“Leia...I” You say, tripping over your own words as your godmother continues to level her stern eyes at you.

After a moment however she gives you a warm smile and simply opens her arms. You’re quick to make your way down the ramp, embracing her with care.

“Your father would be proud of you.” She says quietly with a smile, and you feel your chest tighten at the words.

It had been three months since the destruction of Hosnian Prime, where your father had retired to be an instructor. You had been on a job in the mid rim when it happened but even then it had been almost fifteen years since the last time you had spoken to him. Not that you’d get the chance again anyway.

“I don’t think so, but then again I had not expected to see you so soon.” You reply after a moment, stepping back and straightening up.

“What do you mean so soon?” She asks curiosity evident behind her eyes.

“I...uh...I spoke to Luke.” You explain, gently rattling the hilt on your right hip.

You can hear the subtle gasp as she looks from it to you.

“So...that means?” She starts, to which you nod.

“I would only ask you keep it quiet, the last I want is a bigger target on my back.” You plead.

“Only if you promise to chat with me when you have the time. Poe’s told me you’ve got a bit of a contract to make and lord knows the last man I keep away from credits I ended up marrying.” She teases.

You can see the slight pain behind her eyes, but you can feel she is genuinely happy to see you.

You give her a slight wave as a pair of marines escorts you towards the bridge. You knew from its size that this particular ship was from the Victory line of Star Destroyers. At almost 50 years old it was rather impressive that the Alliance had one in such good condition. It was not often that old warships escaped the scrap heap, however you couldn’t complain when it was currently rocketing you away to safety.

Showed to a small conference room you shrug off your jacket before placing it on a chair near the middle of the table that rested in the center. It was all very imperial, but given the fact that they had it You doubted the spent much time decorating.

Taking your seat it’s only a few more minutes before who you presume is Poe appears. Much like the rest of the rebellion he was less in a uniform and more in clothing that was perfect for random conflict. He gives you a nod as he slides in opposite you before speaking up.

“So you’re the infamous Red 2? The troops from the op are raving about your work.” He says with a sly smile, setting a datapad on the table. “Shame it was all for vain, eh?” He continues.

You shrug.

“I should still make good out of this. Got your boys out, captured a would-be Sith, took out nearly two dozen storm commandos and I wasn’t even in my usual gear.” You retort.

If Poe is impressed, he’s doing very hard not to show it. “So, how do we want to do this contract then?” He asks raising an eye.

“That depends.” You reply, folding one hand over the other. “Do you want this to be a one off job, or do you want a more long term relationship?”

“Depends on what you’re willing to offer.”

“Well, for one I have something you desperately need: Skill and the ability to pass it on.” You explain.

“And what makes you say we need such things?” He asks, and feeling out with the Force you can feel him attempting to test you.

Little did he know all the facts were already there.

“It took thirty of you to even try and take that station. If it weren’t for the fact that I just so happened to also be there you’d just have thirty dead rebels. There was no escape route or way for them to pull out of that attack, they were expected to succeed and unless you expected them to take out two storm commando teams and a dark Jedi wanna be; It wasn’t in the deck.” You breakdown, giving the man a cool look.

“So, what do you propose for a contract?” Poe continues, ignoring your cool analysis of the failed plan.

“Simple. 200,000 thousand upfront, 50,000 at the end of each month and whatever you call hazard pay around here.” You announce, and you can see him visibly flinch.

“You’re asking for a lot. Mr. Jerris.” He states, and you simply nod.

“I’m offering quite a bit in return.” You counter.

There’s a long, pregnant pause as the man mulls over the deal and what you were Implying. You knew for a fact that during the Clone Wars the Mandalorians that were involved in the clone program were paid a fortune for their services, relatively speaking you weren’t asking a whole lot. After a few more moments he extends a hand.

“We have a deal?” You ask, looking at his hand.

“I’ll have a contract written up for you to sign by the time we drop out of hyperspace.” He assures, and with that said you shake his hand.

“Call me Daxter. Mr. Jerris makes me sound old, that and it isn’t my name.” You say, and you feel him clench his hand a bit tighter around yours.

“So what is your name then?” He asks.

You give a sly grin.

“You can find out for yourself when I sign the contract.”

With that said you stand and with a slight bow step out of the conference hall. Stepping out into the hall you look around and sure enough, you have no idea where you are.

Correcting your stupidity you close your eyes and reach out in the Force. Slowly, one by one you start to feel the ripples of other lives through the ship. Shutting yourself off to the Force you head down the hall, doing what you can to find the nearest turbolift. You didn’t want to admit you were afraid, but you were. You had never seen the sort of power that you had brushed against in your probing and unlike Leia you did not know who it was and unlike the steadiness of Lora’s signature this one was...strange. It was more akin to an ocean rather than a calm lake; constantly waning and waxing along the proverbial shore of your senses.

It wasn’t the power that scared you, it was the constant shifting.

The moment the turbolift arrives you quickly press a button up a few floors and feel yourself relaxing. Deep down you were excited at the thought of speaking to the once princess of Alderaan and general of the Rebel Alliance. She was of course your godmother, and it had been almost as long since you had seen your father that you had seen her.

And that goes out the window the moment the doors open and a slightly shorter girl looks at you, practically glaring.

“Can I...help you?” You ask slowly, making space for the woman.

“Who are you?” She asks, continuing to hold eye contact with you and almost immediately you feel the outer walls of your mind being probed by an outside force.

You can feel her continuing to try and press into your mind, however her inexperience is showing as it’s sloppy; Akin to smashing a door with a sledgehammer rather than picking the lock. Given the concentrated look you realize she’s completely focused on the task and is otherwise blind. Even as you increase the mental barriers you can feel the mental torrent against your mind and it baffles you that with this much power she is brute forcing it.

Time to put a stop to this.

Raising your hand you place it a few inches from her forehead before flicking her. Immediately you feel her intrusion stop as brings a hand up to rub her forehead.

“Ow! What was that for?” She exclaims, though both of you know exactly why.

“Because you’re a lousy thief and you got caught.” You reply simply, ignoring the offended look as she scoffs.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She assures and a second later you feel the pressure on your mind again.

Ok now we can't beat her in terms of raw power what we can do is technique. Create a channel within our own mind for that power she is pushing so hard against to seep through then rather than holding an entire mental bastion you only need two points to channel her own power away from anything worthwhile. Takes minimal work form us and she wears herself out, all she will get from those two points can be a sequence of numbers.

She wants to see into your mind? Fine; You’re sure she’ll absolutely love the intricate details and finer points of maintenance and repair of your starship. Focusing on all the times you had to do minor repairs and replacements you drop your mental shields and like an eager child on the Fete break she rushes in to fill it.

As she continues to explore and find herself trapped you mentally clamp down and instead use her rather massive intrusion against her. A rookie mistake you had learned from Master Skywalker was that Force abilities were a two way street, and the mind trick was no different. By its very definition she had to reach out and touch your mind with her own, meaning that she has to have part of her mind open to keep the connection.

However with how much force she was applying to your mind you were certain you could fly the Dawntreader into her head and she wouldn’t notice.

So as she continues to try and fail to explore more of your mind you send out a mental probe of your own. It is nowhere near as obvious, but even as you brush against her mind you could get glimpses; Of sand and sun, heat and labor. As you go deeper you see the all knowing Maz, A world of snow and clash of sabers.

And...luke?

No. No way...THIS wasn’t his student he was blathering in about, was she? Before you can stop yourself your mind lurches to process the information and by her gasp you can guess she has noticed your realization.

Sensing the change in her behavior your instincts kick in as you lean back and away from the staff she had produced from her back. Thankfully the lift was narrow and so her options were limited and you could take great advantage of that. Grabbing the staff you press it back towards her, pinning her between the staff and the door.

“Who are you?! What do you want with Master Skywalker!” She shouts, struggling and you can already feel the Force surging as her emotions run wild.

“If you calmed down and tried talking to me like a normal person perhaps I’d tell you.” You respond firmly.

“Besides, if I wanted anything with the old man I’d talk to him myself.” You add, and you feel her mind grinding to a halt at your words.

“What do you mean ‘talk to him’? You’ve seen the holonet! You know he’s gone.” She points out, and again her emotions begin to simmer.

Before you can say anything you watch as the door opens and the girl falls back onto the ground, the only thing supporting her gone. You can’t help but laugh as you step past her, propping her staff up against the wall before you continue on your way.

“You’ve got much to learn, youngling. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a meeting with the general.” And with that you walk away, feeling her confusion as you continue on your merry way.

Don’t worry, I have every intention of fixing some of the major problems I’ve seen when it comes to Disney’s handling of it. And that comes in three ways:
1. Actually creating depth for characters and giving actual compelling storylines
2. Incorporating much of the lost EU back into it as best as I can
3. Providing a fun character outside of the traditional archetypes of protagonists to provide a compelling and enjoyable experience in the universe.

Well look at it like this:
think about the ssd you ran into and you’ll start to piece together the first ‘arc’
>>
>>2199257

The remaining walk is uninterrupted, however you feel in your bones that she’ll be pursuing you with a laser-like focus. But that is a problem for a later time, now was a time for enjoyment. Pressing the pager in the alcove of the officers quarters it’s only a scant few seconds later that the door opens and reveals Leia.

“I wasn’t expecting you for at least another five minutes.” She says with a bemused smile.

You simply sigh. “So I’m guessing you knew that was going to happen?” You ask as she steps aside and allows you to enter her quarters.

Compared to the usual quarters you had seen on similar ships they were far larger and decorated a bit better. It was still certainly spartan but Leia does not seem to mind the fact. Taking a seat at the small table the General sits across from you before speaking up.

“I had expected she’d notice, but from the way you look something tells me it wasn’t fun.” She answers.

You regale the story of the meeting and by the end you can see a smile threatening to break her face.

“She’s a lot better once you get to know her.”
She insists.

“I’m sure, I’m sure. But still, she is Luke’s student?” You question and you feel her eyes harden on you.

“It’s hard to find any good prospects when no one responds to recall orders.” She counters.

You can’t help but look down.

You had gotten multiple transmissions asking for help to find the Jedi Master when the First Order started to rise. You would make some subtle searches but you found nothing and so presumed that wherever he was there was no way you’d find him. Apparently however you were wrong, and now the hope the rebellion clung to was...the brat.

“She needs a mentor, Dax.”

You go to refuse but she cuts off your complaints.

“I’m not saying you teach her about the Force, but someone who can teach her to think, to actually ground her in this galaxy. I’m too old and with the Alliance in disarray I’m needed here where I can do the most good; But you? You’re young, you’re free and most importantly you can do something that I just can’t anymore.” She pleads.

“And what’s that?” You ask, voice stern.

“You can go out and inspire hope in people. Fight the good fight and give people something to fight for. Because that’s what the rebellion was built on: Not the Jedi or their legend but hope for something better and the determination to chase it.” She answers.

You know she’s right, even if you every part of you hates to admit it. Was this just The Force guiding you? Was this what Luke was trying to say: go back to the Alliance because I left an untrained, highly emotional girl with an incredible affinity for the Force alone in the galaxy and she needs a teacher.

Either way you had a bad feeling about this.

“I want to talk to her before I say yes.” You reply, and Leia seems to be surprised by your near refusal.

“Look, I just met the girl two kriffing minutes ago and her first reaction was to try and probe my head because she saw Force potential. To be honest it’s not a great first impression.” You explain.

“And what did you get the impression of?” She asks you.

Sighing you compose your thoughts before finally speaking up your honest opinion of the girl.

“She’s powerful to be sure, much more than me to be certain; But for all that power she has no control. Over her emotions, her mind or her thoughts. She’s impulsive, but worse than that she’s emotionally impulsive and will not think so long as she believes she’s doing the right thing. All and all: unstable and very dangerous.” You explain and Liea takes a moment to mull it all over and process your assessment.

“So then why even consider it? From the way you looked at it she’s more likely to run back to the First Order if anything.” She assess and you nod.

“And She is most likely to, but if she’s here that means that there must be something at least semi-good that keeps her from running and I intend to find it.” You explain, before giving a sly smile “Besides, before Luke took me on I wasn’t so different. Younger sure, but no different.”

She chuckles before standing and hugging you for the second time that day. “Thank you, Daxter. For coming home to us.” She says softly as for the first time you relax all day and accept the embrace.

“Like I said, Luke told me it was time to start getting back into the thick of it.” You murmur before all of a sudden you feel Leia grab your arm and with a sharp pop and a yell your shoulder snaps back into the socket.

When you finally stop cursing in mando’a Liea is laughing at you, patting your shoulder as she teases you. “I’ve been fighting for over thirty years, did you think I don’t know what a dislocated shoulder looks like?”

Yep, this was your godmother alright.

Rolling your shoulder you wince as it sets back into place. “I should probably go get this looked at.” You mutter.

“Or you just don’t want me to start asking you about future godchildren.” She retorts as you stand, covering your ears.

“I’m going to the Medbay now!” You call as you walk yourself back towards the hall.

Once more in the unfeeling gray and black halls you plan your next step.

Turning back to Leia’s quarters you inform her that you would hold the interview tomorrow as much as you dreaded it. With that more or less committed to you make your way to the turbolift to hopefully find the mess hall. It takes a few minutes and asking a random maintenance tech but you finally arrive at one of the three canteens that were scattered around the ship. You’re quick to grab a pair of ration bars and a nutrient solution before taking a seat at one of the long tables.

It wasn’t delicious but it was cheap, high in protein and nutrients and was slow to perish; But given they were an army on a budget that wasn’t too unsurprising. You were thankful for years of this sort of diet as you wolfed down the bars, using the solution to wash down the bitter taste. You can feel the eyes on you as you make quick work of the food and dump it.

Maybe it was just the storm commando armor you still had on, that had to be it, right?

Ignoring the looks you again take off, wandering about the halls of the ship. You had to admit it was impressive, even if all of it was scrapped up from practically nothing to a fully crewed Victory-Class Star Destroyer was a feat. However your assessment was still correct, as with each face and species you met they all shared the same look; Determined rebels who had never fired a blaster or faced a man in hand to hand combat. They were determined but untrained and truly unprepared for the future dangers.

You had sold your services on the cheap in comparison.

Finally arriving at one of the medical bays you were quick to explain your issue and within a few seconds you were relieved of your shirt and the armor you had still had on, a bacta patch slapped onto your shoulder blade. You were thankful as the soreness ebbs away, however the sweet smell does begin to become irritating.

Not as irritating as the girls eyes on you. After you had left the mess hall she had followed you silently like a brooding child. Deciding that enough was enough you decided that perhaps you should take refuge in the privacy of your ship. You all but run towards the hangar, as for the first time in a long while you were excited to be back in the comfort of your light freighter.

As you sit in your small quarters in the Dawntreader you close your eyes and feel yourself relax for the second time all day. Between the station, the escape from the SSD and your now tentative contract with the Rebel Alliance it had been an unwarranted, but very profitable day. Breathing slowly you set your newest trophy on your dresser while you figure out jut where you’d put it.

You internally sigh as you feel your body slowly come back to rest as you focus on your breathing. Even after almost two decades it was still an old habit of yours, however the slight ripple in The Force draws you from your musing. It wasn’t as...obvious as the younger brats presence but rather a subtle and foreign one.

As you continue to focus on the disturbance you’re interrupted by a high pitched, throaty giggle.

“So student of Skywalker you were, hmm?” A froggy like voice asks as you jerk to look at the sudden intruder. “Fear me you should not, young Antilles. An old man only wishing to talk, I am.”

There is only one being that matched the description of the diminutive, green, robe clad individual before you.

“Master Yoda?” You ask gently, surprised to see the ghost, however he seems bemused by your barely constrained awe.

“Master you say, hmm? No, no.” He starts with a low giggle. “Forty years, a Master I have not been. Student of The Force, I have become.” He says

“But we, no, The brat needs your guidance.” You urge, your nerves still frayed from having spoken to the wet-behind-the-ears ‘Jedi’

Yoda only grunts, hobbling forward before smacking your shin with his ghostly gimmer stick. You help in surprise as it makes contact before looking down at the little creature.

He only laughs.

“Rey not yet a learner, she is. Too small her thinking is, too black and white.” He warns you, hovering slightly up off the ground before coming to rest beside you.

“Ready, however, you are. Wisest of the living force, you are now.”

“Wisest of the living Force? You know that isn’t true! I never completed the training, I ran away.” You insist.

“Not wisest of the living Jedi did I say, but Wisest of the Force.” He corrects.

“But what does that even mean? If I’m not a Jedi or a Sith then how do I qualify for this title?” You ask, only to get a ‘humph’ in response.

“The great flaw of the Jedi, that is; that to follow the Force, a Jedi or Sith one must be.” He says, looking at you and the blasters and armor that stood on a stand on the far wall. “Follow the Code perfectly, you do not. Emotional and judgemental you have been; Yet to the Dark Side fallen you have not.” He continue before smiling at your confused look. “Four thousand years of teaching, you have proven wrong. By your very existence a testament to our failures, you are. Wisest then you must be, to guide the future.”

That was...heavy. You’ve gone from bounty hunter to instructor, mentor and now future of what? The Jedi? The Force?

“Master Yoda I; how can you know? How can you be so certain that that’s the truth? Luke believes in that Rey kid, but why think it’s up to me?” You demand, desperately trying to understand.

He just laughs as he begins to fade away. “Said I know, I did not. Believe in The Force, and you, I do.” He says as he continues to echo away.

...just great.

Closing your eyes, you fall back on your bed and look up the undecorated roof of the cabin. You didn’t sign up for this, but at this point it was a direction. For while yes you were a mandalorian and you were proud of your life following their code of ethics, it was without direction. Sure in the moment it was thrilling and exciting and the hunt was a rush, but at the end of the day it was just existing; It wasn’t living.

It wasn’t fulfilling.

This...this was big. This was life and potentially galaxy changing; To build an order of Force Sensitives into the wild unknown, bring back democracy to the galaxy and stop a tyrannical second empire. And it started tomorrow.

If you weren’t a mandalorian you’d cry.

But that wasn’t what you were going to do, right?

>Well, what your plan? Debate and discuss amongst yourselves. Daxter is your vehicle to drive and this will be entirely up to you annons.

For the first time in years you do not sleep; Well, that is to say for the first time in years you meditate all night. However it was necessary, as you had much work to do. So as you continue to sink deeper and deeper into yourself you let your mind focus on the path ahead. There was no way you would be able to write a whole New Order and all the tenants that came with it in one night. But there was something you could do.

Set up a few tests for your future recruits.

The first rule however would be a significant change to the formula. So long as someone was willing to put the work in you would train them, Force-Sensitive or not. After all you were Mandalorian, you knew how to kill people and anyone could learn that.

With that thought in mind, you look to the coming day and what that would entail. You would need to talk to Rey, if not downright fight her to show her she wasn’t top dog anymore. And what better place to do it than in front of whatever group of people would become your trainees.

That reminds you to get the dossiers for review, if they had them.

Training would be simple enough, learn how good they were at things and then work on the faults and then improve them. If any of them had enough of a connection to the Force they it showed you’d have to take them aside and at that point you’d be flying from the seat of your pants. Before you could start the basics of training you’re roused from your deep meditation by a cough.

Feeling yourself fall back into the bed you crack open your eyes to see Leia, her arms crossed and small smile on her face.

“Luke used to do the same thing when he was first trying to start the Jedi back up. He’d spend days just sitting there floating and thinking. Hell he’d only eat when Han would practically slap him out of it.” She says, her smile widening as you abashedly get to your feet.

She had a way of making you feel like a child and it was slowly Driving you insane.

“How did you get on my ship?” You ask, rolling your shoulders.

“You’re not the only one with an astromech droid.” She points out, and as if to laugh at you the very droid you expected to have been able to slice into your ship.

“R2? How are you still even operational?! You were an old droid when I was a kid, you’ve got to be ancient by now!” You greet, kneeling as you put a hand on the dome of the droid.

The Droid beeps and whirrs at you and you hold your hands up.

“Okay, okay I know it’s been a long time and I haven’t talked to you since but I’ve been busy, honest.” You apologize before looking up at Leia.

“Any reason you’re here, Ma’am? I’m quite certain the highest ranking member of the Alliance military doesn’t do wake up calls.” You say, and she simply gives you a flat look.

“It’s 10 a.m Dax, we’re not a hotel and you’ve got a job to do.” She points out.

“Mind informing Poe to have the people he wants trained and Rey to meet me...is there a gymnasium or something on this ship? Or some empty cargo hold?” You ask.

“There is a cargo room we’ve been using as a training area, yes.” She answers.

“Have them meet me there, it’s time I got to work.” You finish, shooing Leia from your room as you look over your armor before ignoring it entirely and heading for the small armory on board.

This would be the first time you’d be confronting a Force user since you were a kid but that didn’t mean you weren’t prepared. You had learned from the best Jedi of the age and that meant you knew their strengths. But more importantly: you knew their weaknesses.

With that in mind you looked at the collection before you. Blaster rifles, carbines, Vibro-Swords, Vibro-Knives and all manner of grenades were before you; And that wasn’t factoring in the more exotic weapons or attachments for your armor. These weapons included neural inhibitors, disruptor weapons, stun grapples, a few slug throws and even poison.

Needless to say you were proud of your collection.

The only problem now was that you had no intentions of killing the girl, only humiliating her at worst. That meant that many of these veritable tools were off the table, however you still had a number of choices you had to pick the perfect tools

>Pick Two:
>A. Stun grapple: a weapon mounted to the wrist of your armor and powered by a small power cell, the Stun Grapple worked as a grappling launcher. Propelling a few meters of durasteel cable with a magnetic head, it was perfect for climbing and tying up melee fighters. In addition to this a shock could be sent through the wire to electrocute opponents.
>B. Sonic Grenades: Grenades that create bright flashes and sounds upon detonation, sonic grenades would be a perfect tool for breaking concentration.

you’re ignoring the armor for the moment because armor is useless without weapons to go with it.

Shield would be useful if we were going to fight all of them at once but I am assuming that we will most likely not be. Even without it we should be fine.

Ok imagine a stun stick that also spews a mist like substance pretty far. Its shit used in hunting exotic game because it stuns pretty much everything, though they are fuckin rare. I dont know why but im sure a net was involved. Looks a little like a vacuum cleaners stick without the hose
An old room mate used to have the Star Wars armory books

Pulling the stun grapple off it’s rack and taking a trio of sonic grenades you carry them back to your quarters before setting them atop your small cot. Ensuring the door was locked you begin to slowly strip off the armor and clothing you were still wearing from the day before, reminding yourself to take off the dampener so that you could modify your TRUE armor with it later.

Speaking of your true armor, the scarlet and dull gold of your Beskar’gam beckoned you. You had only recently had the plates and the Armorweave flight suit it was mounted on decorated, as before you felt that your bounty hunting was an impersonal job that requires no embellishment. That mentality changed when the Starkiller Base killed your father, of course.

In the wake of his passing you had returned to Mandalore and urged the finest Metalsmith you could find to alter your armor. At first it would have been a costly venture, but when you explained to him your burning reason to you he cut the price and began work immediately. Ever since you had flown the colors of scarlet and gold; In honor of your father and declaring to every Mandalorian you crossed your mission for revenge respectively.

Slipping the helmet on over your face you went through the cold, unfeeling process of donning the suit of true Mandalorian iron. At first glance you debate taking the jetpack before leaving it on the rack as you slip the armored undergarment on. In such closed in space the jetpack would simply be unneeded weight. With the red jumpsuit on you continue your process, sliding and clamping the various plates of armor before finishing with the chest plates.

Placing your holsters on your thighs you get to work adding the rest of your weapons. From your lightsaber to your grenades everything is situated and secured before you finally look to the stun grapple. Taking a moment to align it with your forearm there’s a slight hum as the magnet engages, and with a tiny impact it all but welds itself to your arm.

Last to be added is your vibro-knife, which you place at the back of your waist. Your veritable arsenal now attached you do a quick set of move to ensure that everything is secure before making your way towards the ramp.

It’s showtime.

>Thank you all for taking an interest in my Twilight of the Jedi Quest! I’m going to be flipping on and off, with this coming week being one of my other quests. But all the same thanks for coming with me and May the Force Be With You!
