Welcome to Fogsworth's Tribes Evo!

In this game you will take control of a tribe and along with the other players of your tribe, you will develop culturally, technologically, and historically in order to progress and prosper.

Rules:
>Every turn is a new day
>Every turn you can do on 2 actions and 1 Development
>You cannot repeat the same type of Development 2 days in a row. (e.g. If you make new laws, you cannot make more laws until the turn after next)
>Development - Laws, Technologies, Arts, Customs etc
>Action - Trading, Scouting, Organizing, Diplomacy, War
>If infrastructure is built you may do more of each (e.g. university, military barracks, embassy etc)

- To avoid salt from other races, turns must be feasible and believable considering the situation and knowledge of the race at the time ("Done IC"). Being specific in turns are also preferred as it reduces salt & helps writing
- WAR MUST be declared the turn before any war action happens, once war is declared, an attack may happen at any point until PEACE is declared
-No Secret turns

Moons create big spooky masks of hide and grass, painted with berry paint to spook bison, hoping to steer some into the corral.

Moons gather wood

The moon scouts decide to return to the ominous area under the cover of night, under the protecting light of the moon. There's something going on and they want to know what. They cover themselves in paint and move through the forest. The night seems to grow even darker as the forest creatures and sounds dissipate. A scrambling and screeching breaks the eerie silence, attracting the moons attention.
They advance towards the commotion in a hushed yet hurried crouch before finding the source of the noises. An owl had swooped down, caught a mouse under a tree and was in the middle of greedily pulling stringy meat from it's abdomen.
Moons collectively exhale in relief, but as they begin to let their guards down one frantically motions to the others to look. A large bulge of treebark is growing on the tree behind the owl. A tentacle of bark begins to creep out from the bulge, changing from treebark to what looks like tar. Suddenly the arm shoots forward, splashing onto the owls head, causing it to writhe and flap in panic, quickly slowing to the occassional twitch as the arm creeps over its body and it seems to melt into the arm. A smaller spurt glues itself to the mouse and pulls the corpse in as well. Within seconds the mouse and owl are reduced to irregular shapes shrinking into the blackness as it retract back onto up the tree, changing back into what appears like tree bark.
The Moons look on unblinking, and only begin to panic as they make out a large amount of bark pouring itself onto the leafy ground and quickly disappearing in front of them. By the Moon they ran out of there faster than any cougar could.

Caps send a group of 10 to scout the distant mountains. The scouts find goats and snow, with the grasses growing thinner as they climb. There is a large mountain that reaches above the clouds in the center. They attempt to determine the safest easiest ways to navigate the mountain's deep crags and layered cliffs. The scouts make camp for the night and will return with their findings next turn.

Develop:
Our people have been comfortable and able to survive, and now our search turns inward to identity. A new paradigm emerges in the Cap tribe. Where before we were a tribe of people struggling to do it all, the new order fills the void with speciation. The emergent social hierarchy is akin to a caste system, but effectively functions as a three gender split.
The first role is the denmother. These are exclusively women, and involve child-rearing responsibilities as well as home-related crafts, teaching, cooking and domestic activities. Denmothers remain largely within the community of the settlement, with no reason to leave apart from travel. They can sometimes engage in trade and barter out of their home with the goods they produce, like rope, prepared food, and clothing.
The second role is the worker. These are exclusively men, and involve building, crafting, fishing, farming, and other physical labor trades. Workers travel outside of their immediate settlement and community, but are expected to return home each night. They can engage in trade throughout their home settlement, including farmed goods, lumber, and other produced goods.
The third role is the ranger. These are either men or women, and involve exploring, hunting, sailing, and military responsibilities. Rangers travel between the Cap tribe settlements, and push beyond the lands we know, acting as scouts and adventurers. They return to their home settlements at least once a week, but are often gone for days at a time. They can engage in long distance trade between settlements, or potentially with other tribes.
These three roles are chosen in young adulthood. Women decide whether to pursue being denmothers or rangers, and men choose becoming workers or rangers. With this emergent paradigm, the social paradigm of relationships shift as well, and the ideal relationship becomes a triad involving one of each role. The denmother raises children and ensures the homestead is looked after, the worker helps provide for the settlement as a whole and looks after the practical needs of the denmother and ranger, and the ranger follows their wistful spirit and defends both denmother and worker. These arrangements are known as triads. Triads always contain at least one male and one female member (the denmother and worker), while the ranger may be of either sex. Intimacy can be (and is expected to be) exchanged freely between all three members of the triad, and all three are responsible for the offspring produced by such unions, regardless of the gender dynamic. Female rangers who become pregnant often return home only long enough to give birth before the denmother takes over child rearing duties.
>>
>>2158625
With this new paradigm comes a new shift in governance as well, to ensure that all three roles are represented. The wisest, eldest members of the tribe confer to select the best-suited member of each role (one ranger, one denmother, and one worker) to the tribe Council. The Council members all have equal say on matters pertaining to the tribe, voting when need be to determine how best to move forward.
One member of the Council is appointed the Top Hat - having greater say in matters of the Council. The Top Hat casts the deciding vote in matters that come to the Council, unless both Council members vote against them. The Top Hat cycles every month to the next member of the Council, so they all take turns as Top Hat. i.e. one month the Ranger Council member is Top Hat, the next month the Denmother Council member is Top Hat, the next month the Worker Council member is Top Hat, then back to the Ranger, and so on.
The Top Hat wears a special Hat instead of their personal cap for the month they are elevated, this special Hat being created by all three members of the first chosen Council together.

Oceans attempt to capture the crocodiles. The crocodiles prove to be wild and thrash and snap at the oceans & their horses, cutting through the lassos with their powerful jaws and spooking the horses. A few oceans are seriously injured after getting thrown from their horses and trampled but thankfully nobody dies.

Action: We move the injured back to the main settlement to treat their wounds however we can - or at least ease their pain. We bring the deceased back home as well to put them to rest properly.
Action: We begin building a wooden palisade around our shore encampment, being sure to leave a berth around our extant structures for expansion and room to grow. The Moon prophesizes that your destination is on your right.

>Development: The Sultars and the camp have arrived at the grassy knolls of their new forested home. With this, the Sultars each claim an area for their house, staking claim and spreading through the area. However, they also see the need for a banner under which they can cooperate and thrive under, so, coming together in what would become known as the First Sultarate, they create a new title, that of "Rexus," who would guide the cart of the Moon through the perils of existence. The Rexus would be a Sultarate, a new one being elected by the Sultarate upon the predecessor's death. The Sultars also agreed on a constitution of their territorial rights. Among other things, Each Sultar would be free to rule their fief how they saw fit, any attack upon a Sultar by another outside force was to be an attack upon all Sultars, and any decrees made by the Rexus could be overturned by the Sultarate by a majority vote, provided the decree interfered with the previous rights of a Sultar.
>Action 1: The lands of the new heartland is divided up between the Sultars, each scouting their own territory. In the end, the entirety of the Moons' territory scouted. Particular attention is paid to foodstuffs, fine lumber, stone, and other shiny things.
>Action 2: A suitable hill is found, larger than the rest and central to the river island. The majority of the camp settles here and begins to construct more permanent homes. It is decided that this would be the Rexus' estate, to be controlled directly by the current Rexus until their death. In addition, this would serve as the meeting place for the Rexus & the Sultarate.

>Election!

1-20 : Revei, Sultar of House Veilo
21-40 : Alpin, Sultar of House Harffe

Moons tweak their current system of govournment. Renaming The Grand Sultar to "Rexus", and making it a position that is elected from the group of Sultars after the demise of the previous Rexus. The Rexus has local authority over his estate, but will assume global authority in times of crisis, as well as to break tie votes when they occur in the Sultarate.

Moons divide up the land of what they have now decided is their home into estates for each of the tribal families surrounding the central hill estate where the current Rexus lives as well as most of the Moon nation's infrastructure.

The Sultars & their families each scout their respective land for their resources. They find they contain nothing of particular interest beyond the trees, the river, the ocean & the fact they're on a hill. At least it's scenic.

The current Rexus Veilo particularly enjoys the veiw from the ocean facing cliff on his estate and gets a little too close. He slips, falls and is mangled by the rocks on the way down. If he didn't die upon impact with the ground, he surely drowned as his body was swept away by the tide.
The Moons mourne his loss and hold their first election for a new Rexus. The First Sultarate spends a while deliberating before it's decided that Ehaz, of House Jassil shall ascend to lead

Particuarly faithful Oceans dedicate themselves entirely to Drukathriel. Oceans have priests! THey add this profession to the council.

The new priests know of the impending beaver battle. while the Ocean warriors prepare, the priests sacrifice many sheep to the water, praying for victory.

The screams and sounds of battle, the taste of blood and the pain in his chewed leg fade as pman focuses on his dying comrade. He's pale, shivering, clutching his neck as red spurts out, gagging out fur as he wheezes.
Pman puts down his axe and lifts his friend onto his shoulder, slowly and wearily limping the pair of them through the bodies and wood.
"Ramerez! Don't give up on my now! Think of Dolly back home, her smile when you walk back through the door! Think of how happy she'll be to have you back with all your cool war stories as you both groom the horse!"
Rimerez smiles weakly..."I...I don't think i'm going to make it...ma...make sure you tell dolly...I lo....I...I lov....." Rimerez goes even more limp as his conciousness fades.
"RIMEREZ NO! IF YOU GIVE IN NOW THOSE FURRY BASTARDS WILL WIN!"

His ears prick as he hears the sound of scrapping and chirping. Snarling beavers begin to wriggle out of the floor and over the sides. Pman is surrounded, his breaths are quick with panic. Wide eyed he desperately looks around for a weapon to defend against the furry horde. Pman's legs give out and rimerez's body flops over the side of the dam as 16 savage beavers tackle him, sinking their massive bucked teeth into his flesh, .
Through the gnashing, the blood and the fur, pman sees in the distance beyond the combat a gargantuan wave crashing towards them.
As the light fades from his eyes pman smiles knowing his family is safe and that Ocean god will keep him safe whatever comes next...

Oceans destroy the both dams thanks to the blessing of Drukathriel. THey lose 10 good men, but manage to capture 10 unconscious beavers for domestication, one for each lost soul. These savage beasts will serve as penance for the bloodshed.

Action: Noticing that the strange other tribe with the masks seem to have gone, Rangers from our mountain settlement descend into the plains, hunting the buffalo we have seen to bring them back home. If we can corral some of them toward the mountain settlement for domestication, we will do so. If we can't, we'll just kill them and harvest their meat and hide.

Develop:
The Cap tribe discovers religion! They worship one deity, an unknowable entity who has manifested three spirits to guide them. These spirits are
YUWEI the spirit of inspiration, the muse, patron spirit of mothers, wisdom, rest and healing. Yuwei is a storyteller, said to have given birth to the Cap tribe, and her lessons guide them and lend them cleverness. Obstacles are said to be a gift from Yuwei, who rewards the smartest and kindest of her children with her blessing. She oversees the souls of those yet to be born, ushering them into their new life. Yuwei is also responsible for healing, and mothers in childbirth are said to be very close to her as they seek her blessing of recovery. She is exemplified by the moon. Denmothers are her voice and keepers.
ZOZO is the spirit of adventure, the hunter, the patron spirit of wanderers, excitement, sport and growth. Zozo is an explorer, leading the way for the Cap tribe, and their teachings reward those who seek beyond what is known. Zozo is said to have charged the Cap tribe with exploring all the world, besting mighty foes, building outposts, and returning home to tell the tale. Zozo is described in different stories as male or female, and this duality is part of their nature. Zozo's symbol is the sun, charging across the sky day after day and looking down upon all the land and sea. Rangers are Zozo's eyes and heralds.
Fedora is the spirit of patience, the protector, patron spirit of fathers, sacrifice, hearth and strength. He is a mighty crafter, and is said to have fashioned the world for the Caps to explore, from mighty mountains to wild seas. The crop is his bounty, lumber his blessing, and stone his essence. His example imbues Caps with an indefatigable spirit, never giving up in the face of adversity, and reminding them that patience is always rewarded in the end, as the seed grows into the crop, sometimes all it takes is time and care. His image is the sturdy tree, standing strong against the ages and providing shelter and food for countless other creatures. Workers are his hands and wardens.
All three of these spirits are just facets of the one unknowable deity who has no name. Obviously, they all wear magnificent hats, each to their nature. Yuwei's hat is the crescent moon, Zozo's hat is the sun, and Fedora's hat is a tall mountain.
Caps of all roles/genders learn from all three spirits, although each clearly has their favorite. Rangers heed the call of Zozo to explore the world and hunt the mightiest beasts, Denmothers imbue their children with stories of all the spirits, but especially Yuwei and her gentle wit, and workers bring honor to Fedora and his legacy of determination and strength.

One particularly clever craftsman however, comes up with an idea to carve markings into things to convey various information. The idea strikes him that if everyone used the same markings, the entire tribe would be able to take advantage of this system. He goes to the priests, who are enthralled with the idea, and they help him develop and flesh out the system of symbols. The Ocean Tribe invents writing

Caps build a quarry on the long sandy island and begin harvesting a steady stream of blocky sandstone. They are able to transport it back to the main camp without sinking in frequent small loads on their shitty rafts.

Caps get all their tamed animals to fug, giving them a consistent population of each.

Caps develop a religion. They have an unnamed god with a trinity of spirits representing it. Each spirit is a patron of the 3 tribe roles, representing the values each role upholds and being represented by different symbols.
Yuwei patron spirit of the denmothers, represented by the moon.
Zozo patron spirit of the rangers, represented by the sun
Fedora patron spirit of the workers, represented by a tree.

Each wears a great hat and is worshiped and followed by caps. Caps roles are decided by who they gravitate towards.

Develop: Caps learn by necessity, and after carving sandstone and mining actual stone, they begin to learn the basics of masonry to shape the blocks of raw materials so that they can better be stacked together.
Action: Using our new sandstone blocks, we begin creating an outer wall around our shore settlement, giving us room to expand.
Action: Using actual stone, we begin building a better wall outside of our mud-brick wall in the mountains, giving us more room there as well once we tear down the mud brick.

Action 1: Barracks are built to house warriors during their periods of training. They help to foster camaraderie between warriors, while providing an environment free of distractions from their duty
Action 2: With the fearsome giant blocking the path to the sea South, scouts instead head North to scout out the coast in that direction
Development: Using the new writing system, the priests write down scripture. All the tales of Drukathriel's adventures, from the creation of the Ocean at his birth, to his epic battle against his twin brother, the God of Death, Aridinel, to the birth of Oceanicus and the creation of the land for our people to live on. Every Ocean tribesman comes to grow up reading these stories

Her name is Griselda, the first hero of the Caps, and she is appointed by the Council to be the leader of the Rangers fighting forces due to her skill and prowess.
Action: We begin to build towers using our stone blocks for better vantage points around the mountains, manning them with scouts who keep watch, ready to send smoke signals should they spot anything of interest. Towers are built around the mountain where our fortress is for the broadest view of the plains.

They put the craftsmen to work, building a marvelous bridge, one that's both an awe to the eye, and functional. Allowing a good deal of traffic both across and below it, while also being an effective defensible position if the time where it's necessary comes

Action: send the scouts out to assist in the discovery of these places or items.

Development: During a rare bit of free time, one Ocean Tribe craftsman begins working on a project. He carves a body of wood, and stretches horse hairs across its length. He uses yet another such thread pulled taut to scrape across the strings of his creation to make a new sound, unheard before. He creates the fiddle, and with it, brings music to the Ocean tribe. It's not long before others take up the fiddle themselves
Action 1: The council decides to do a bit of restructuring, and folds the scouts and warriors together into a single "military". They will both receive the same extensive combat training, learning the wielding of both axes and bows, and of horsemanship. The scouts are to be expeditionary forces, while the warriors are to be focused on seizing or defending objectives

Caps build a bridge to the sand isle and change their architecture so it's all hat-like in structure.

There is a disagreement over the tribe beginning to experiment with human milk as a food source which splits the tribe.

General Morden & 50 caps declare civil war on the rest of the tribe from the safety of the mountains form the holy helmtes rebellion! They will have Jean's head for this heresy!

Their first action is to equip their rebels with their whole supply of axes & slings. All 50 have tools.
Next they send the 16 rebel rangers out into the plains to collect supplies, specifically bolstering their limited food & wood supplies.

Jean sends a diplomatic envoy of 3 with 7 ranger guards and a bison to the mountain. Surely this can be resolved peacefully!

General Morden agrees to see the 3 diplos but insists that the rangers & bison stay at the gates, stripping the diplomats of any possessions that could be used as a weapon.

Diplomatic talks fall through, with neither side appeasing the other. Morden, not wanting to shed unnessesary cap blood, allows the diplomats to leave. The rangers & bison break down the flimsy wooden front gate and then run with the diplomats.

The rebel rangers return with food & wood. At the end of the turn rebels have 550 food rations & 100 wood rations. THey have plentiful stone & copper from the mines.

Shore caps end with 150 copper rations. They have plentiful wood, food & sandstone (making mountain stone irrelevant.)

Jean creates a war camp in the plains in front of the mountain keep for them to see, taking care to make sure it's out of sling range of the castle (this is a bit further since the keep is on higher ground than the surrounding plains) . In the camp are 40 rangers with 32 workers to keep them supported and supplied.
The rangers are poised to pelt any helmtes who leave the keep with rocks in an attempt to keep them in.
None of the keep helmtes come much further than a few meters in front of the walls though. Instead spending their time repairing the gate and creating a long dirt mound with torches in front.

That night both camps are shining beacons in the night that can be seen for miles in the planes . Cap camp has huge bonfires while helmtes keep has torches lined all over the walls and surrounding the keep.

Caps make their move, while the helmtes are focused on the large cap camp, Griselda herself & 2 rangers attempt to assassinate General morden, hoping to end the conflict quickly with minimal losses.
They struggle to find a location that they can use to sneak in though. The gate is repaired, they are running uphill on an open flat towards an extremely well lit keep. This is really hard to sneak through.

Griselda decides the only way is to watch the walls for a break a lapse in the guards and then make a dash for the bottom of the wall where they will be out of view. The assassins see their chance and go for it! They dash up to the lights and over the hill and straight into a deep trench helmtes have built, breaking their legs. After about 5 minuites a guard points them out and they are captured and brougth inside.

General Morden wakes his troops bringing them into the courtyard. He has the captured assassins on top of the wall well within view of the main cap camp. He turns and addresses his men.

"Our brothers have betrayed us! Where once we shared lands, hunted and ate together, through filthy ideals and pagan beliefs they have become our ENEMIES! Behold their true form! Primative subhumans incapable of peaceful negotiation, prefering to break our buildings childishly in an attempt to anger anger and insult us. Now after rejecting our terms they spit in our face once again by sending the once great hero GRISELDA HERSELF to destroy us! Brainwashed and tainted by their ideals here she is. Truly her fall is evidence of the danger of these DISGUSTING ideas."

Morden pauses

"Make no mistake, treatury will not be forgotten. They WILL understand our message and they WILL give in to our demands or face annihilation. These are but the first to fall."

With a nod and one swift motion axes come down and the assassins heads roll. Morden raises Griselda's into the air.
"DEATH TO THE HERETICS!"

The keep erupts into applause and cheers, echoeing across the plains and sending a chill down the spines of the cap camp.
