You contemplate a plan to defeat the orc and his allegedly trap filled lair.

>"Odds are good that It's going to be a deathtrap showcase down there. Hang on, I have an idea..."

You instruct Salaman to summon several scorpions to sweep the cave entrance for traps. They attempt to fulfil this task by walking on all available space on the floor. They trigger several metal leg-hold traps.
A scorpion walks through some sort of trip wire causing a pile of metal junk to fall from the roof causing a cacophony. The noise echos down the cave...
Salaman: "Not my fault"

You can use a tent, oil flask, and torch to try and smoke the orc out of his lair. Assuming there are no holes for the air to escape and that the orc is home right now.
Given the noise that just occurred he may already be on his way.

>Quickly search the cave entrance for any more traps (spot ???%)

Maybe use a lvl 2 summon to remotely set up the bonfire instead of going in ourselves...

Salaman summons a pair of Salamites. They proceed to cover the cave's mouth and build a bonfire.
You and your party hide outside the cave. You can't see what's happening. You hear the sound of a bolt whizzing throught the air and the noise made by Salamites when they're defeated.

(Normally I'd ask the players to roll for the Protection from Arrows spell but these updates have been taking forever)

You cast Protection from Arrows on yourself.
Alina tries to cast shield on you but it fails.
Alina: "Oh no! wait, let me try again"

But there's no time. You hear the second Salamite drop. A few moments later an axe hacks through the fabric and the orc steps out. And glares at all of you.
"Four humans... Good, me low on meat."

Salaman: "You can count to four? Impressive for an orc"

Alina shoots a poison arrow hitting him for 9 damage, and poisoning him
You cast protection from arrows on Ulric, and then move infront of Salaman
Salaman casts grease, the slippery liquid covers the floor around the orc
Ulric moves in front of Alina
Ulric: "I'll protect you!"
The scorpions slowly creep across the grease and move into melee range.
Orc puts away his axe and draws is orcish crossbow

>"Why are you here? What do you want from the innocent people of this region? Is it literally just meat?"

"Me here cos new orc chief is stupid. Home no fun anymore. Now me live alone. Humans send warriors to amuse me"
Alina misses
Salaman casts acid splash but misses very badly
Scorpion misses
Scorpion gets a critical snip on the orc for 3 damage

>"We have apples, do you want apples?"

"Me strip apples from corpse!"

Orc shoots Ulric and deals a critical hit! blowing through his defences (and ribcage) Ulric takes 36 damage knocking him off his feet
Alina misses
Salaman misses
Alina: "Try aiming *at* him Salaman"
Salaman: "Isn't this your specialisation? What's your excuse?"
Ulric stands up.
Scorpion hits orc for 2 damage
Scorpion hits orc for 1 damage
Orc reloads his crossbow

Salaman misses
Scorpion misses

The orc shoots another bolt at Ulric scoring a critical hit! devastating him for 20 damage and instantly knocking him down. Ulric's hp is reduced to 0 and he falls unconcious.

Cast obscuring mist around the orc in order to make it harder for him to land hits. Conjure some more summons, as many as you can...

Engage the orc from all sides. Cluster more towards the cave mouth to stop him from retreating...

> Alina

Pull Ulric out of combat range and use a potion on him, then return and fire standard arrows at the orc through the cloud of fog engulfing him...

...

> Christof

Saturate a tent with oil (Combine Oil flask + 1-man tent)...

Hurl the oiled up tent over the orc...

Throw lit torch at the ensnared orc...

Engage the burning orc in melee...
>>

This

I don't actually think we should fight him h2h. If his crossbow hits that hard, I actually don't want to see how hard he can swing an axe.
>>
>>2137974

Mhm. Even if Ulric didn't have two holes in his chest, I wouldn't feel confident attacking him in a direct fight...

We need to use unconventional tactics to restrict his range of movement, reduce his armor, lower his accuracy, or induce status effects before engaging him...

Alina drags Ulric out of the cave and pours a healing potion over his face, stabilising him.
Salaman casts obscuring mist on the orc the last thing you see before the mist completely envelops him, is the reloading and holstering of his crossbow.
You take the shredden tent, an oil flask, and torch and throw the flaming fabric into the mist. You briefly hear a howl and flapping fabric.
You can't see what the scorpions are doing.

Alina fires blindy into the mist while Salaman continuosly sends in salamites. The mist clears, revealing the orc has taken lots of minor hits since last round but is still in fighting condition. All the salamites and scorpions are dead. The grease has faded away.

The orc is wielding his axe right now and has taken a moment to catch his breath. But he seems to be staring down the source of the summoned creatures: Salaman.

Have Salaman use a flight scroll, so when the orc comes over he can flee. When he gets close enough, use a oil flask + torch to properly set this fucker on fire. Need to soak him in oil, then torch.

Keep distance while Alina lands more poison arrows.
While Salaman's in the air, have him carpet bomb the orc with summons.

This sounds good, burn him and keep tiring him out. Be ready to attack him if the opportunity presents itself but otherwise protect Alina.

The orc rushes Salaman, but he uses the scroll of flight and levitates into the air and out of range.
You throw a torch and oil flask, some of the flames stick to him for a bit doing 6 damage.
Alina ignores your order to use more poison arrows and starts dragging Ulric's body further from the battle.

The orc power attacks you with the axe but you evade
You swing your hammer, it bonks off his shield
A salamite falls from the sky next to you

The orc power attacks the salamite and achieves a critical hit dealing a walloping 98 damage the salamite does not survive
You try to avenge but his shield remains in the way
Alina fires an arrow and she gets a critical hit inflicting 30 damage and knocking the orc down. The orc's poison level increases.
Orc: "OOF! lucky shot"
A salamite falls from the sky

The orc stands up
You bash him for 11 damage
Alina's arrow is deflected by the shield
Salamite slashes the orc for 6 damage
A salamite falls from the sky

You hit the orc for 12 damage

The orc drops his axe and shield and falls over backwards. The salamites stop attacking.
"Ugh, hahaha. Me die like real orc. like warrior!"
He draws a dagger and weakly starts trying to hit you with it

This.

Smash that dagger hand first, then at least his other hand, interrogate him, bind him, then risk taking our attention off him.

Either don't crush his feet or kill him after interrogating him.
Ulric's down and we aren't carrying that orc anywhere.

To clarify, I want to ensure those hands aren't a risk and get the orc in a position where he will want to talk rather than just insult us before happily dying.
I don't want Christof maiming and crippling in edginess.
