‘There is no such thing as paranoia. Your worst fears can come true at any moment.’ After what seems like an eternity you lean against your chair. Your thoughts too muddled to continue your work that you were able to scrape together after your extended absence. You were back home, in what you used to believe was a safe tiny 1-room apartment, far from the dangers of the world. The apartment you soon found was full of terrifyingly human monsters that are feeding off an energy you give off, every normal human gives off, whenever they felt emotions.

Hard to believe you were, just a few weeks ago, content in just living among them in blissful ignorance. Now after the… rather unfortunate series of events that led you back to this den of beasts, you need to stay incognito and find some info about these wolves in human guise before taking care of them. As of now you only have some minor hints on what Lucille and Hellen might be, and the species of your landlord; some kind of lizardman.

On the bright side you still have someone on the outside that can help you, a priest named Armand that is much more experienced with these monsters and while you aren’t much of a fighter as of now, you still have a bible and a peach tree wood dagger.

Looking back at your work you decide it’s enough for now. More so that you fear that at any moment those creatures will come knocking on your door for what you have done to their kin and that paranoia is making it a challenge to focus. Honestly you feel you were lucky the first few battles you had, one of them wasn’t even a fight, and the other you had Armand at your back. Maybe you should do something to increase your chances of survival?

Some general info about the quest;

Please quote the post you are voting in, not really a rule but it helps me a lot
If you are changing your vote, please quote the original vote you had as well as the post the vote is taking place in, once again mostly for my convenience
All rolls unless otherwise specified are 1d20 and best of 3
When I say DC # it means that number is the roll you need to be successful, although getting close will not always mean a complete failure just not a success either.
Wait for the vote to be done before making any rolls

Your efforts are wasted as anything you find is unhelpful at best, and either outright a hindrance to you at worst. The mentions of ailments caused by failures to some of these rituals are disconcerting. Various tall tales of curses and woes, lost souls and various other effects from both successes and failures in these rituals flash across your eyes, making your fear to spike up. The thought that the monsters in the area probably felt that as well just gives it even bigger boost. You can’t focus on anything right now.

Maybe its time to log off for now…

Standing up you have the nagging feeling that something is off, you look through your room. Finding your bible and your knife handy, you carefully inspect your room. The doors locks still are intact; though you aren’t sure the extent they can prevent some monsters. The salt line have yet to be disturbed. You carefully inspect the nooks and crannies that you think something could-

There was something there! A face hidden in the shadows, just barely out of sight!

Your knuckles grow white with your death grip on the knife, brandishing it at the face you unsteadily state “Get out.”

The face makes no move to leave, or any move at all. The outline simply stares at you impassively, judging you.

“Get out!” you state a bit louder, the being does not respond.

“GET OUT!” the stress has gotten to you. Panic has settled in and rationality has left your being.

Within a second you are on the being, stabbing it over and over. You feel knife pierce the monster despite its dull point as you assault the intruder. Over and over methodically as you feel things come out of the wounds you inflict. Not particularly blood and gore but… garbage?

Taking a closer look you notice it was simply a trashbag among the pile that you were murdering, and the insides were indeed just garbage.

You dig through the garbage, there was something there, you know it. There had to be something there, you know what you saw. Your in to deep with these monsters to believe nothing is there at all. Your frantic searching is interrupted by a knock on your door and the voice of Hellen. “Jack? Are you okay in there?”

You don’t know why you thought it was a good idea to open the door. You looked like you were just coming off a panic attack, your place was even more of a mess with trash littering the floor, and you were completely filthy from digging in the trash. It wasn’t the best time to let someone see you in hindsight. Still this didn’t stop you from unlocking your door to what was most likely a monster.

Hellen thankfully doesn’t seem to look to surprised by your condition, but she still has that blank look on face you can’t decipher.

“Are you well Jack? I heard screaming.” She breaks the awkward silence.

“Ok thanks for checking up on me, bye!” you slam the door closed before she can respond, and reapply all your locks.

Smooth as silk as always, hopefully she doesn’t think that there is something suspicious going on. Oh who are you kidding she probably does. You need to speed up this info gathering process before you are fully discovered…

Out of habit you look out the peephole to see Hellen. Just standing there in front of the door, the same blank look on her face, as the seconds tick by you grow more and more anxious as she doesn’t seem to be leaving. After what feels like an eternity she leaves the door and returns to her room.

As you turn back to your room, you swear you can feel a presence, even if it is not hidden among the trash ridden floor. You know something is watching you, you can just feel it.

Let me ask: What exactly is this quest? It's interesting in a...morbid way?
>>
>>2138011
It's a quest about meeting monstergirl waifus and killing them horribly while in the grip of panic the whole time. Our current bodycount is 3.
>>
>>2138496
I asked the QM.
>>
>>2138011
more or less what >>2138496 said, at one point this could have been monsters disguised as humans trying to get a paranoid MC to open up SoL shit, but it just turned into deranged MC murdering monsters. You have to to research and figure out what monsters you will face through clues I drop and how to best to prepare to fight them. Also there are more than monster girls, it was just really easy to find pictures of monster girls when I was trying to find humanized monsters.

I guess the plant, and other jiangshi don't count

The plant wasn't a waifu. I forgot about the other jiangshi though, so 4.
>>
>>2138768
Oh you were talking about the waifu body count, thought you meant the monster body count. Then yeah it is 3.
>>
>Session Start
Your rest was uneasy as you felt eyes upon you, but no matter where you turned the light there never seemed to be anything among the shadows. Your body did eventually succumb to the need of sleep but you still felt exhausted as ever when you woke. The time was… shit it was pretty late, almost noon. The only hint of the time outside your clock being the light attempting to slip through your thick curtains, sprinkling the trash covered floor with specks of light.

You couldn’t bring yourself to shower last night, not after what you saw. Not after what saw you…

Picking yourself up you began to sift through the garbage to find something a bit less fresh than what you slept in. The cold sweet mixed with the garbage gave a… rather pungent odor. The room itself seemed to begin to stagnate with the odor as well, probably from the garbage you had on the floor. As you finally find something to slip into that wasn’t fully covered in trash, you heard a methodical knock at your door.

Instinctively, you grab your book of god and dagger and carefully step over the trash covered floor to not make any noise. Sliding your way to the peep hole and peering through reveals, Hellen again? “Do you need something?” you say through the door. She doesn’t really seem to mind the rudeness of you refusing to open the door, but she doesn’t seem to mind much of anything besides tea.

“Jack, you have been acting strange.” She says, you almost hear concern in her voice, but that is probably your imagination.

“Strange how?” Your heart began to beat faster, was she digging into your neighbors death? Did she suspect you?

“You appear to be constantly distressed, your breathing is shallow and brief, you don’t seem to get sleep, you appear to hold some unhealthy living conditions and habits…” She lists off impassively.

“You don’t know me, I always act like this.” It was a bad lie, but it was all you really could come up with right now.

“I have lived by you for months, but I have never heard you scream like that before. I…” She hesitates. “felt the anger.”

Felt the anger? you thought to yourself. That was right, monsters could feel the different types of emotional energies that people gave off, and if yours was as potent as some of the other monsters have told you then it is no surprise that they would be able to tell if something was off. Fuck, FUCK FUCK FUCK.

Panic sets in again, but Hellen corrects herself. “You sounded very angry. I’ve just never heard you scream like that before…”

Why can’t you hold cover for shit? You berated yourself internally as your frustration grew. What are you even doing? Because it looks like your throwing your life away you-

“I am just worried about you, your my neighbor you know, and the first meeting we had wasn’t really how it should go.” She says somewhat solemnly. “Did I do something wrong?”

You let off a breath you didn’t know you were holding. “It’s really not your fault okay? Things have just been… stressful for me lately.” It was a half-truth. It was stressful, but she was simply one of the many reasons it was stressful.

“Regardless, you shouldn’t leave yourself in those conditions. You need help, and I as a good neighbor cannot leave you in these conditions.” She says firmly. “Please open the door.”

And we should. These trash bags are too good for hiding spy cameras, bombs and/or monsters.
>>
>>2138949
“I can take care of myself.” You reply, you were not a child.

“From what I have gathered, your ability to take care of yourself is lacking.” She counters.

“I‘m fine, I don’t know what you have gathered, but its wrong.”

“Then prove me wrong, open the door and show me how well you can take care of yourself.”

You were a mess, your apartment was a mess, you probably looked like a wreck, and knowing your luck the smell is probably wafting out of the door’s cracks. Not really proving her point wrong.

“If you don’t, maybe I should tell the land lord of the condition of your apartment.”

You cringe, she’s gotta be bluffing. You were barely got out of breaking your bathroom’s door off its hinges. You aren’t really sure if he would kick you out with the amount of fear energy you give off, but that doesn’t mean he won’t do something drastic… She doesn’t seem like she is going to let this go either. This is bad…

Then don't kill her. It's that easy.

>>2138973
You take a few breaths to try and overcome that feeling you used to get when you knew you were about to disappoint or anger a parent with your negligence. The weight of Hellen’s reaction weighing you down as you begin to undo your locks, and begin to slide open your door to meet Hellen’s face. She doesn’t visually react to you or your apartments state, but you almost see a glint of something in her eye.

Stepping aside, you motion her inside your trash heap. She closes the door behind her, but never stops scanning the room. Is she looking for something?

She attempts to flip the light switch next to the entrance, only to get darkness in return. “Do you not have any lights.”

“I got used to the dark.” You tell her casually. You had a phone and a flashlight if you needed it, plus it made most people think you were away if you didn’t have lights on and the curtains closed. Even better if they thought no one lived here at all.

“And the trash?”

“I lost something in it and had to go digging through it.” You on the spot came up with an excuse. Although you doubt she buys it.

“Why is the bathroom door off its hinges?” she motions to where you keep your bathroom door.

“Didn’t want to trouble the land lord, it’s not like I make a habit of inviting guests.” You assure.

She takes a thoughtful look around. Looking down to see a can of some energy drink you used to force down for some of the late nights you pulled, she picks it up.

“You need help.” It wasn’t a question, it wasn’t even a request.

“I’m fine.”

“This is not a healthy human environment.” She states.

“It’s not always like this; I was actually gonna clean it today.”

She looks you dead in the eye. “These trash bags look like they’ve been backed up for months.”

She drops the can. “I have nothing in my schedule that prevents me from helping you.”

She inspects the room again. “Do you possess any cleaning supplies; this room needs to be sterilized.”

You don’t.

As if reading your mind she replies “Then you will need to go out and get some so we may clean this mess.”

The thought of leaving anyone, much less a monster, alone in your room is enough to drive you up a wall.

You finally relent, but not without a condition to this surrender. “I’m a mess right now, can you go get the supplies while I take a shower?”

She stares at you blankly, before nodding. “I will return with the necessary supplies.” before leaving you to your own devices.

Honestly it could have gone worse, you could have been discovered and had to go into a struggle, possibly blowing your cover and bringing down every monster in the building down onto you. Honestly it was probably a good idea to clean this huge mess anyway. These mountains of trash bags could be hiding cameras, or bombs, or monsters, or aliens… you stop yourself before going off the deep end. You just need to focus on your current task…

Going to your door you lock it up once more, tightly binding it in place to make sure no one sneaks in on you while you are vulnerable. Then swiftly making sure your computer is on lock down, and your other supplies is hidden. Thinking it over you decide it might be best to keep the bible out of your bathroom to keep to pages safe, but the dagger is more than fine to get a bit wet.

With that you climb into your shower to wash the filth off your person. It was almost nice to have the warm water wash away your troubles for a short while. Even if it was only temporarily, it might have been more relaxing if you weren’t carrying a wooden knife the entire time, but it was a safety precaution.

Speaking of water… you need to figure out what it is with Hellen and liquids. Maybe you can find something else while she helps you clean up your apartment. It still feels a bit weird to have a girl coming to clean your apartment, even if it is just for scientific purposes. Honestly it would be best just to relax and try to mentally prepare yourself for this endeavor. You clear your mind for a bit so you can focus fully on her when she arrives.

You didn’t really know what to expect when Hellen decided she would ‘sterilize’ your apartment. She completely took it out of your hands, cleaning everything with a thoroughness you would expect from yourself when it came to your safety. Maybe she used just a tad less murder, unless you counted germs. that actually concerned you. Were there germ monsters? Also what the hell was up with the weird outfit she was wearing?

Getting off your little worry tangent before it cascaded into something worse, you decided now was a decent time to observe the strange girl. Sat on your bed as she refused any of your assistance, with only your laptop with your notes to keep you company. She didn’t make any conversation as you she cleared the room of garbage and brought out a steam cleaner of all things to clean the carpets. Other than her acting almost hesitantly when handling the new equipment you didn’t notice much out of the ordinary. It could be you just imagining things, but maybe it was moisture that concerned her. You’ve read that some cultures think that it has a cleansing effect of sorts; maybe her species was vulnerable to that effect…

You resist the urge to instantly bring your file on her up, if she were to somehow happen upon it there would be more than one uncomfortable question. For now you were content with just observing her while you pretended to look busy on your computer… well mostly pretended, you still needed to get that stuff done for your contract work so you can actually stabilize yourself a bit economically. Worst comes to worse you can fall back to the church with Armand, though if you did that now he would deem the reconnaissance a failure and begin his most likely doomed assault on the apartment.

You can’t have that happen. At least not yet.

From your observations you have come to one conclusion, the reason Hellen has chosen to wear this outfit is to attempt to throw you off of your search for useful info. Unfortunately it is working, you can’t help but be morbidly enthralled by her as she works, your own work falling by the wayside. You quickly force down your embarrassment from the situation you currently are in and casual ask the ‘maid’ “So, what’s with the outfit?”

Hellen pauses for a moment, before straightening up and addressing you. “Is this not normal attire for cleaning?” she asks as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“Not exactly…” somewhat unsure for how to proceed “when I clean I just wear normal clothes that I don’t mind getting dirty, maybe an apron.”

Her poker face gives no tell, but you notice she grabs the hem of her skirt unconsciously. “Do you want me to change…” she says quietly.

>”It’s fine just not what I’m used to.”
>”It would make me more comfortable.”
>”Wear what you want, I was just curious.”

“Wear what you want, I was just curious.” You affirm her.

You think you see the ghost of a smile on her face. “Very well.” Before continuing her work with more gusto, on the bright side she seemed completely absorbed in her work so you could potentially observe her without her noticing.

Not like that brain…

The silence as she continues her work continues. You decide to shut your computer down in hopes to keep the distractions to a minimum. She has finished cleaning the floors and has moved on to wiping down your desk. She maintains the almost robotic movements as she wipes away the grime and other substances that littered your desk. You could almost hear the motors and mechanical parts moving as she continued her work…

Wait.

That wasn’t your imagination… checking your computer it is indeed off, and there doesn’t seem to be anything else that would be polluting your room with noise, and its coming from her direction.

Is she a robot? Does that even count as a monster? It was definitely coming from her; there was no doubt about it. It would explain the aversion to moisture, the constant blank looks, and the lack of food or a bed in her home. Even her speech was a bit odd for a person, or monster you guess. Even if you’ve only ever seen a few monsters, you think they sounded like regular people. At least the ones trying to act like regular people did…

But who created her, and what was her purpose being in an apartment all alone? Why a human girl as a robot? Was she made by a monster? No, if she is fueled by human emotion like the others than it would just be creating more competition. She would have to have been created by a human for some other reason, a human with knowledge about monsters and humans natural energies.

You have no idea how she would react to this kind of discovery, you’re not familiar with robots but even then you doubt it is something she wants known. For now the best course of action is to wait for a better opportunity to strike. You don’t even know if she is technically a monster, if she is you don’t know how she is feeding unless it is through a wide birth proximity feeding like most other monsters, or maybe she can just sustain herself through electricity. You aren’t particularly sure.

You leave her to complete what she set out to do. She politely excuses herself once she is done, almost like a stereotypical maid service. Well to be fair, you had to insist that you could do your own laundry. Robot or not, you really don’t want some girl routing through your clothes. This left you with one last duty before you began your search for a possible manufacturer of her.

“Armand?” you speak into your phone. “I think I got a lead on what one of the monsters in my apartment is…”

Your face tightens slightly. She was nice, likable in her own weird way maybe, but it’s better safe than sorry after all.

Sorry this was a short one. Wasn't expecting the rolls to be so good that info would be instantly found. As always will stick around for a bit for any questions, comments, etc.

Not sure the exact date of the next run, but I'll try to announce it on both the QTNG discord in the Moon_Quests section and Twitter a with a day or two buffer. It will still probably be somewhere between 3-4pm EST.

That's more in the hands of you anons and the dice gods. Just be careful, they tend to only give 20s when its funny. Like when we accidentally murdered our succubus friend and some other girl with Jesus.

The succubus was a home intruder, not a friend.

I couldn't help but notice you didn't give anons an option of not reporting her.

Jack still has some autonomy outside of votes. He has been shaped more heavily in his opinion of monsters by Armand than anyone else from his time with him and the fact that he has at one point saved Jack's life. Outside of a few interactions with a home intruder, he hasn't really had much of a challenge to the notion that all monsters are bad; his only other encounters being two fights and someone shadowing him. If you don't want him to actively treat all monsters with caution you need to put him into situations that will challenge his ideal of what monsters are. Hellen is only a strange novelty at this point and Lucille outright terrifies him. Jack also knows if he doesn't report to him, Armand will probably deem the investigation ineffective and take matters into his own hands, possibly getting killed and costing Jack his only ally in the world. As of right now, he doesn't really have a reason not to report to Armand, so there was no choice.

>>2141868
That wouldn't make any fucking sense he has been murdering monsters for quite a while and I don't think someone as paranoid as him would go "robowaifu xD" like you fucks.
>>
>>2144038
He's been murdering monster that either broken into his room to feed on him, or were generally murderous fucks. Helen so far has been neither of those. Also do robots even count as monsters?
