Welcome back, sub-processors. When the last session closed, we were:

A mobile factory, trapped in a large artificial cavern, near the wreckage of a starship. You had just completed initial investigation of the wreck with your Indiana-Class tethered exploration drone. The exploratory data is available in the command logs of the previous session: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2117012/

Currently, the Indiana is within what appears to be the bridge of the wrecked craft. It is about to investigate the unknown objects in the domed ceiling's sconces.

The Indiana skitters back to the middle of the room, scanning around for the best route to the top of the domed ceiling. It finds three possible routes:

The first is stable, but takes you to what appears to be a damaged object. The armor plating along the route has no chance of failing under the drone's load.

The second is less stable, but leads you to an object that currently has no power flowing through it from your scans. The structure of the bridge would certainly hold the drone on the way up, but there might be issues if you attempt to retrieve the possibly nonfunctional sconce object.

The third is the least stable, but leads to a fully functional sconce object which is currently drawing power from whatever power source is currently keeping the ship active. The drone's weight might cause the walls or ceiling to buckle under its weight, however.

The third option is to construct a smaller observational drone for this and use the Indiana as a launch platform, though this would require resources and time.

Considering your options, the construction of a new drone seems to be the best. Once again, the Indiana retreats back into your main body, and your construction arrays begin.

Automatically timeskipping for convenience.

Complete.

The drone is a flying drone, radio controlled due to your Indiana-Class' ability to be used as a launch platform and relay. It has a scaled-down sensor suite, no armament, and a quadrarotor design. It's about .5 meters in length and width, and about .2 in height. Overall, it only cost 1 kilo of steel for the necessary modifications to the Indiana and the drone itself, as well as a circuit board.

Project complete! The maintenance drone you assigned to investigate your internal structure has uploaded its data and is now dormant in its charging port. All processes requiring internal navigation and coordination will be more effective and efficient in the future, and will not require a Cycle.

Project complete! The maintenance drone you assigned to passively observe your core has uploaded its data and is now dormant in its charging port. The data retrieved is complex and will require a more in-depth analysis, but you now know how to handle the core safely, at least.

Project available: Analyze core data.

Status report updated.

The Indiana reenters the ship, equipped with its new Roundrunner-Class recon drone. Note: The drone may not be able to extract a sconce object if it is anchored above a pull strength of 200 Newtons.

The drone whirs to life, coasting from its port on the Indiana smoothly into the air. It hovers gently to the top of the domed ceiling, reaching out with two gripper arms and attaching itself to the undamaged sconce object.

Your clumsy attempts at pulling the object like it's a tooth overstrain the Roundrunner's manipulator, sheering them off and sending the drone into a spin you can't compensate for. It slams into the wall, careening down onto the floor with a crash, its rotor-blades spinning uselessly in their bent and shattered guards. Worse, it actually managed to pull the sconce object out somewhat, leaving it dangerously loose in its socket. If not taken out with the utmost care, it will fall and be irrecoverable.

That isn't your prime worry, however, as the tampering has activated a defense turret previously hidden in a panel above the door. You have your Indiana scuttle for cover, diving into the operations pit as the turret opens fire, spewing bright plasma at you. That type of weapon would destroy your drone in half a second if allowed to connect, but from what you observed, the turret is in disrepair. It might detonate if hit with enough precision by the Indiana's mag-thrower, and its target acquisition seems slow enough that the drone may be able to dodge it if it moves in short sprints.

Thankfully, you had the foresight to attach the Indiana's weapon to an articulating arm. You extend it over the ledge of the Ops pit, and fire.

15: PASS

You only have a split second for the shot, but for you, that's an eternity. Before the still activating motors in the plasma turret can warm up, you send 10 slugs through a small exposed part of wiring. The turret sparks, twitches, and droops, deactivated.

Then it explodes, violently, in a burst of blue light. The slagged door melts again, leaving a pathway available into the rest of the ship.

Encounter complete. Deactivating combat protocols.

Scan the room, find other security turrets, salvage them for components and tech

Also investigate the computers and figure out what are they here for. Can we control anything through them?

Common sense correction: investigation first, then scanning, then *maybe* salvage.

Scanning...
Scan failed. The same interference that prevents radio transmissions through the hull is preventing all forms of scan except visual.

You have already interfaced with the only functional computer in the room. Oddly, no central computational hub has been detected, though the damaged records you recovered show there should be one on the central command dais.

The turret has been slagged by the detonation of its plasma cells. It is not recoverable.

I know it's amusing right now, but I recommend disabling Crits on 'Best of 3 1d20'. Any time you call for it, no matter the DC, there's a ~30% chance to crit (15% pass/15% fail). If you want to keep crits, 'Best of 3 1d100' has a ~10% crit chance (5% pass/5% fail)

The Indiana bends its legs and hops out of the ops pit. It trots over the bridge to the dais, extending a sensor arm to where the computer should be...

The Indiana's vision fizzes, and when it clarifies, it's on the other side of the room, under the doorframe.

The Indiana is carefully maneuvered up the wall. Once, a section almost buckles, but you anticipate it and hop to the right. You carefully extract the loose sconce object from its housing, and bring it down to the main floor.

Where you are greeted by the sudden revelation of an armored corpse slouched over the newly revealed main console.
