You're not sure to what extent, but your team's arrival here was at least somewhat planned for. It's possible that Tomiko and Shozuku were
able to foresee the general composition of an advance party, and lay a series of traps around the city for them to get baited into.

Their general tactics for creating chaos and spreading destruction work well enough as a cover when their advanced operatives are on the move. You consider that you're being targeted specifically, though there's no way of knowing for now.

Glaring forward, you watch the coffin slowly creak open. A white hand grasps the wood, splintering it with it's strength before pulling the body attached outward.

Initially, as his head hangs low, the shadow over the cadaver's face makes him hard to identify, but slowly he raises and reveals himself. It's Koji. It's been a long time, but he was a Jonin whom you'd fought on your first mission as a Chunin, along with Sarasu's squad. He's actually an old squadmate of your sensei's, who's highly skilled with lightning ninjutsu.

"Mirai.." you say.

Understanding your meaning clearly, she nods. "Right. I'll keep him locked down. The rest of you, go after Tomiko and that priest!"

Roughly thirty feet away from you stands Tomiko, the dark-skinned priest, and Koji. On your side stands Mirai, Kayo and Akahiko, Kichiro, and Mirai.

"Everyone, attack!"

You issue the command, and your squad moves without a moment's hesitation. Mirai cleanly shoots past all of you, drawing her sword and swiftly locking blades with Koji, who catches her weapon with a kunai. She presses down with all of her might, and Koji grips his wrist with his free hand to maintain his block.

Mirai leans forward, staring at him angrily. "I remember you. You're a traitor to the village, and Hanto too."

Koji pushes her off of him, and makes a small backstep before throwing the knife in his hand. Mirai deflects it with ease before rushing towards him. Koji's eyes narrow as he spots you, and the rest of the Leaf Genin rushing forward. His scraggly mane of black hair suddenly starts to crackle with electricity, and spread apart. "Yeah. These days I'm a traitor to the living, too."

From what you can remember, he was capable of a large variety of high speed and power techniques. Koji raises both hands and flies through a series of hand signs. "If I really had a choice, I'd be attacking this bitch who keeps summoning me. But I don't, so, I'll just have to take it out on you!"

"Lightning Release: False Lightning!"

He spits a stream of electricity from his mouth, and Mirai leaps into the sky to avoid it. Your group is scattered as a the beam of destruction cuts a swath through the open fields of the construction yards, the exploding earth and fire tracing a line from the dirt into the concrete of an incomplete tower.

Mirai uses Burning Ash as she falls, covering Koji in a cloud of hot embers before they explode in a pillar of flame. Mirai lands past him, and keeps running towards Tomiko and the priest.

You were all going to rush forward as a group, but Koji's destructive force kept you still.

It's clear that you'll have to keep him occupied while someone attacks Tomiko.

Kichiro rushes forward before anyone says anything, jets of flame exploding off of his boots to propel him forward. You look to Mari and Kayo.

"You guys go help Mirai!" you yell, taking off to assist your squadmate.

Ahead of you, Kichiro is running directly towards the column of smoke and flame. The wind blows away the cover, and underneath it Koji is standing. He's looking up towards the sky, and the left side of his face has been cleanly blasted off. The ashes around him swirl up and reform his figure, leaving only thin cracks in his skin as a scar. Even those dissipate in a matter of moments.

Koji looks down at his hands. "So this is a taste, huh?"

The ex-Jonin forms a few handsigns. "Unlimited power.."

Four Lightning Clones appear all around him. Kichiro barrels directly into the group, leaping into the fray with a flying kick.

One of the clones of Koji catches his foot, and another rushes in to grab a hold of his body. They hold him for just a moment before flames erupt out of Kichiro's foot, destroying the clone. Kichiro's wrapped in an aura of static shock for a few moments, frying him.

"Kichiro! Don't destroy them at close range, they'll just-!"

He slams his elbow into the head of the one holding him, destroying it as well. The electricity coats your friend, and he screams out in pain. Kichiro bends at the knees, momentarily weakened. Two of the clones descend on him with Kunai, and you throw a handful of senbon at the real Koji to distract him. Kichiro catches the wrists of the clones, stopping the blades short. He's immobolized now though, kneeling in front of the real Koji.

The Ex-Jonin lets each needle strike him in the neck, before calmly glancing at you. They get pushed out a few moments later by his healing. "Don't worry. I remember you. You're Hanto's student, huh? The lucky fool. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to be outdone by that talentless hack, only for his student to cut me down years later!? I'll make it slow when I kill you, boy! I might be bound to these freak's will, but at least I'll get my last act of vengeance, hahaaha!"

Kichiro growls. "He's not his only student, you know."

Koji looks down, and throws a right straight into Kichiro's face. "Shut the hell up!"

You start sprinting forward to go help. Your mind is shooting through all the possibilities of what to do.

Looking up again, your run slows somewhat as you're surprised to see your ally still staring directly up at Koji. His fist has landed squarely on the bridge of his nose, and blood is flowing cleanly over his lips. Even then, Kichiro keeps looking upward.

The Leaf Genin spurts jets of flames from the soles of his feet, and uses them to shoot upwards into the air. Once free from the grip of the lightning clones, he flies through a couple handsigns and uses the Great Fireball Jutsu directly below him.

The clones are wiped out, and Koji jumps backwards with a short step before jumping into the air. The Ex-jonin dashes upwards, intending to stab your friend in the gut with a kunai.

Kichiro roars, punching forward with his fist. A blast of flame erupts off of his knuckles, hitting Koji square in the face and sending him spinning. The resurrected man calls out in surprise, as he starts to fall. "Dragon boxing!?"

You use the Haze Clones to form a veritable illusory army, and run through the open field to reach Kichiro. Quickly covering his face with your healing palm, you speak to Kichiro.

"That was nuts! You gotta wait before rushing in like that, you scared me."

Kichiro's nose is slowly being stitched shut underneath your hand. He grumbles. "I nailed him at least, but it won't matter very much. We gotta start thinking of a way to end this fight, now..You and Mari should be looking for the weapon out there!"

You hand him a soldier pill, and lightly tap his ribs with your knuckles as you use the Diagnosis Pulse. He's fine considering the electrical damage he faced. Only light burns on the skin, and a fractured nose. "Eat that. We're gonna finish this up pretty quickly, okay? I have a plan."

Kichiro crunches the pill between his teeth, grimacing at the bitter taste. "I bet you do.."

Koji starts to rush towards the army of clones, zeroing in on Kichiro.

You kneel down, and use the Water Clone Jutsu to create six copies of yourself. Danpei swoops in overhead, firing a few Wind Bullets in the direction of Koji. The Ex-Jonin fires off a Lightning Ball, and the blasts of wind are all easily knocked aside. You and your friend leap to the sides to avoid the blast. It bought you a moment of time, at least

While you're on your belly, you look up to examine the fight between Mirai and the others. As far as you can tell, Tomiko is doing her best to run away as Mirai pursues her. Mari, and Kayo face down the priest.

You spot a clone of Tomiko slipping down a sharp turn in the distance, and you're about to use False Sound to communicate to Mirai when suddenly she comes running back in the direction she came from. A clone of Kayo running on all fours barks angrily at her, keeping her within the confines of the battlefield. You grin and stand back up, narrowly ducking a rogue bit of shrapnel from a series of nearby explosions.

Kichiro has used his new burst of chakra to meet Koji head on, and his fiery fists keep shooting forward at a high pace.

As Koji is fighting Kichiro, he somehow accounts for your various water bullets flying in from multiple directions. Then, you notice a lightning clone that's snuck off to the sides and is now watching the battle.

His clone is likely relaying information back to Koji, so he doesn't get caught in one of your traps

Koji deftly parries each attack, striking at Kichiro's wrists to deflect the punches and throw him off balance. The first few punches are only narrowly deflected, but afterwards, Koji adds in a lightning quick punch. Now every time Kichiro throws a punch and misses, he's punched square in the face in return. The cut on his nose opens back up, and his right eye starts to swell shut.

The Ex-Jonin ducks an attack of Kichiro's, and starts to form some handsigns. He's struck squarely in the side by a blast of water, however, and tumbles to the side.

Koji hits the ground spinning, and unleashes another blast of False Darkness. The beam of lightning released from his mouth fires directly at your ally, Kichiro.

You will all but two of your Water Clones to leap into the path of the blast, mostly dispelling the stream of energy. Kichiro kneels down and leaps towards Koji, hell bent on payback.

As he's distracted with this, you mentally tell Danpei to loop around the battlefield and attack the Lightning Clone from behind while you position yourself for a pincer attack. As you quietly sneak along the cover of your clones, you look over to see how Kichiro and the others are doing.

Koji easily avoids each of the fire boosted attacks. Every time Kichiro swings, he's struck dead on. Now Koji's memorized his timing well enough to be able to hit him as he's attacking. Kichiro keeps trying to press forward, but it's to no avail. At some point he's struck with a left hand to the forehead, and the blow glances off. This gives him enough room to step in and throw a punch at Koji's body!

The swipe misses clean, a calm back step from the Jonin was more than enough to dodge it. Kichiro's swollen, bloody face twists in frustration. "D-damnit!"

Koji ducks under Water Bullets from your remaining clones. "Haha! Maybe you are his student, then, huh? Unlike him you're no freak of nature though!"

Koji steps forward, and kicks Kichiro in the chest, knocking him onto his back. "I used to know Hanto before he got all that crazy power, and let me tell you, you look a lot like him! Good for nothing, hahaha!" The Jonin stomps his boot onto Kichiro's chest.

Your brow furrows. Glancing back over, you can see that Danpei is now close enough to fire the Wind Bullets.

"Now!" you mentally declare. Your own Water Bullet was intended to get the clone to dodge, at which point Danpei's own attack strikes it down before it can react.

That should make it easier on Kichiro, you think. Your Clone's Water Bullets strike him, knocking the Jonin off of your friend.

Koji jumps back to his feet, soaked but unharmed. "The little fuck's around here still..I should finish this now, before he gets the drop on me."

Kichiro leaps to his feet, stumbling briefly from injury. Your friend swings a wide punch at Koji in futility, before being struck on the nose with another counter. Koji chuckles, drawing a kunai from his weapon pouch. "You got guts, at least. More than Hanto had. But it's time to put you down!"

The knife goes flying towards your stunned friend's gut. What do you want to do?

At the highest speed you can muster, you dash towards your friend Kichiro. You use Shunshin to close the gap, and begin to charge up your Jet Sheath to keep propelling you forward. Landing, you take a few more steps forward in your sprint.

You consider dropping all of your training weights off. Truthfully you were hoping to save it for a mission critical moment, but if you need to save your friend, then that's what you'll do.

As Kichiro is still stunned from being struck, he looks up at you in this wistful way. You're unsure if he's conscious or not, but regardless, he's looking right at you.

Then, it seems like he comes back to reality. A small bit of focus is lit into his eyes when he sees you running towards him. Embers start to burn, and it causes you to pause. The beep of your sheath goes off, but even then, you pause. Whatever it is, Kichiro's eyes are telling you a message.

Kichiro calmly stands there, going through a few handsigns you vaguely recognize.

Koji's knife lands clean in his stomach, but as he goes to rip it out, Kichiro's hand wraps around his wrist. The veins on the hand bubble and twist, and the flesh steams as it turns a reddish color. Your eyes widen slightly in surprise. "It's his Bath-House Demon technique. He hasn't done this since the exams.."

Kichiro looks at Koji through one open eye, the other being totally swollen shut. "You think just cause you've stabbed me you win, huh?"

Koji blinks. "I..I don't know what kind of technique this is, but it won't help you!"

Kichiro slams his head forward, butting Koji's own.

Kichiro grimaces as Koji uses his free hand to rub his face. "Tch, what the hell!? You think that's really gonna hurt me, kid? Don't you know that I'm-"

"Shut up. I can see that it hurt you, or you wouldn't be rubbing your face!"

The immortal man cocks an eyebrow at him. "Are you stupid? It's not going to injure me, regardless."

Koji shoots his free hand at Kichiro's face, expecting it to land just as it always had. But this time, Kichiro kneels down and pushes Koji off of him, leaving the knife in his stomach.

Your ally looks over again at you. "Go find this asshole! I can do this much.."

Kichiro clenches both of his fists, and places them at his side. "Without you! The Third Gate, Gate of Life! Open!"

He vanishes. Koji has a few moments to look around in fear and confusion, before the flaming assault begins.

Kichiro appears directly underneath him, and launches the immortal's body sky high. He appears in front of him a heartbeat later. His skin is swollen, blood soaked, and steaming red. Your friend smiles. "Don't crumble on me!!"

Koji's body is blasted apart in a violent explosion, dust rocketing out of a wound in his back. Before it can reform fully, Kichiro lets loose a machine gun rush of punches. Again and again holes are blown open in Koji's back, until finally, his head is kicked off completely.

The torso smacked across the construction yard. A blazing trail is left in the dirt as Kichiro races along, and starts to ping-pong him through the battlefield until he comes across a series of derelict buildings.

Using the partially destroyed skyscrapers as a rebound, Kichiro keeps bouncing Koji's torso between them to get higher and higher. Once at the top, he rears his arm back and issues a final, flaming punch to dissipate the body completely.

Kichiro's body starts to fall between the sky scrapers, and you rush to go catch him, heart racing.

I try to keep things more sensible rather than being based purely off of the intended chakra interactions. If a wind clone got hit with a fire jutsu, it'd make a big explosion.

But if a wind clone gets hit by a lightning jutsu then...stuff happens? It's just kind of strange.

You jist need to think that wind is what guides the lightning. Imagine that the wind movement will disperse the lightning or at least manage to guide it's destruction. Maybe even reverte back the attacl to the person who released the attack.

Kinda like a counter attack simulating the lightning destruction and the wind flexibility.

Plus, it isn't the air moving the lightning, it's the wind-type chakra that disperses the lightning. It's like how potassium pops and explodes in water, they just react that way.

I always had the impression that wind could be the same as atmosphere. Besides rain and thunder only occour because the wind make the clouds colide with each other and so increasing a clouds ionization( increase in eletrons).

Well, what I mean is this:

Chakra natures basically mean your chakra is more easily forced into certain patterns. Those patterns in turn are much easier to manipulate or generate certain elements with.
When those chakra patterns hit each other, those patterns oppose each other, and those certain patterns work to dissipate the others. Having more chakra can help, but, for instance, the patterns that make up lightning nature dissipate the chakra that makes up water nature very efficiently, but lightning nature is very inefficient at dissipating wind chakra.
Does that make sense? It's not about the element, it's the motive force behind it.

While talking about Boil release jutsus here's a few simple ones i've come up with

These would all have a high enough ph to melt flesh:

>Soap Senbon Jutsu (upon penetration or being blocked they revert into their corrosive base form)

These wouldn't:

>Alcoholic Mist Jutsu (many extremely varied and deadly uses, No sane Fire user would cast flame jutsu while inside of it)
>Water Destruction Jutsu (Certain powerful basic compounds will literally separate the Hydrogen and oxygen of water upon being introduced) (Destroy a water attack coming at you and then immediately follow up with Great Fireball jutsu for a massive explosion)

Become passable at Acid as well as bases. Even if we're gonna focus on bases acids will be useful to have.

Also gonna point out that many of these have been confirmed by mini as possible before.

As Kichiro quickly falls to the ground, he flips over headfirst. It's clear that he's unconscious. Wasting no time, you use the Shunshin technique to close the distance before launching forward again with your Jet Sheath, spinning through the air to snatch him as gently as you can.

The landing is still a bit rough as you slide a few feet, and Kichiro screams in pain. He huffs and pants for a few seconds as you lay him down carefully, taking off your jacket and folding it under his head for a small amount of support.

Immediately you get to work and relieve his broken arms and legs with your healing jutsu. You wont' be able to get him walking again any time soon, but at the very least you can ease his pain and prevent further injury.

Mirai appears next to you in a flash, kneeling down. "Shit! Shit! I didn't know he could do that! He's totally out of it now, damnit.."

You chuckle, halfheartedly. "At least he destroyed Koji, right?"

She shakes her head. "It's just going to take a while for him to reform. We have about ten minutes, I'm guessing. Tomiko and that priest ran away. Mari and Kayo are in pursuit, but I told them to come back if they lose the trail. We need to decide on our next plan of action."

You know that you'll leave Mirai with Kichiro, to ensure his safety. Koji will certainly be angry.

Kichiro pants beneath you, still conscious somehow. "Go... Get the... thing..."

While you heal Kichiro to the best of your ability, Mirai searches the area a little bit. After a few more minutes of waiting Mari, Kayo and Akahiko return.

"Everything looks clear." Mirai says. "There doesn't seem to be any traps or enemies around, right Mari?"

She shakes her head as she approaches. "No, not in the immediate area. Like we thought, the industrial area of town is mostly clear. It's the residential parts that are taking hits. This gives us a direct path through, however. We'll be able to reach their base fairly quickly."

You look down at Kichiro. "Okay then. Me and you are going ahead, and everyone else should retreat! Take Kichiro back to the camp. It shouldn't be too much longer before the rest of our allies arrive."

Kayo bumps your shoulder before you and Mari leave. "Hey, make sure to hit them real good once for me, alright?"

You nod. Mirai looks up from her construction of a stretcher for Kichiro. "Be careful. At this point in the fight, there's no telling what could happen, or what this weapon even is."

Mari grins. "Well, look, we shouldn't worry! I'll be able to see anything that sneaks up on us, so there won't be any surprises. Let's go, Takeshi."

She sprints off towards the Jashin base, and you take off after her. The two of you move at full speed, leaping forward and bounding off of the partially constructed buildings and equipment. The sun is high in the sky, somewhat alleviating the chill in the air.

After a while you hit the ground running, off into the forest. Mari points forward. "The entrance is up ahead! There's only about five people inside the building altogether..There's something else too, I'm not sure what it is. It looks like a star. A really small one, about the size of a soccer ball, just glowing brightly."

You nod. "Alright then. Do you see any other ways in aside from the front entrance?"

She shakes her head.

You sigh, and step forward. Removing some brush from what seems to be a normal boulder, you find a wooden cellar entrance. Opening it up, a wave of cold air brushes over you from within it, moaning in a low fashion. The two of you make your way down the stone steps, and you superheat a kunai using your Heated Metal jutsu as a makeshift torch. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you're inside of large, cathedral like room. The ceiling is high and carved from the stone, supported by various pillars. Mari looks around. "Three of the people in this facility are heading towards us.. One is in a chamber far back, while another seems to have..vanished? What's going on!?"

Stone doors ahead of you swing open, and out steps Asuka. She's the red haired Cloud ninja who's quite capable with a sword. You watched her fight in the Chunin Exams, but later on, it appears she was dragged into the Jashinist cult somehow. Her brown skin is covered in scars, and her eyes seem cold and empty. For the first time since you've seen her like this, she speaks.

"My master has been awaiting your arrival. He predicted that you would be a member of the team sent to investigate the rumors of a weapon of mass destruction, thanks to the sentimental nature of the Hokage. He also predicted that you would not be able to find and confront him alone, for you are a coward who lacks honor."

You also notice two shadowy shinobi next to her. Likely highly skilled cultist members, completely dressed in black.

Truthfully, you'd be lying if you said you didn't feel at least slightly pressured. You brush it off regardless, furrowing your brow and responding sharply. "True shinobi don't let themselves be held back by something like honor! I've got something much stronger, and that's loyalty. Something Shozuku wouldn't know anything about!"

Going with C, as it seems that's what the majority of people are feeling now.

You whisper to Mari that she should try to take these guys out a few minutes after you've left. Once you have Shozuku busy, he won't be able to activate whatever weapon that he has. Based on the situation, you imagine that if you were to attack now they'd relay a message to him somehow and he'd destroy the city, along with all of your friends.

"I'll go. But, there's one thing I wanted to say."

She raises an eyebrow. "Hm?"

"How can he call anyone a coward when he's just hiding behind his immortality?"

Her face stays as calm as ever. "You'll have to ask him that yourself. From what I understand, however, Shozuku didn't choose to become immortal. He was forced to be what he is."

Flashes of all the scenes of violence and murder that you've seen as a direct result of him pass through your mind. You find yourself clenching your fists. "That's not true! He made his choices every time someone died! He could have walked away at any moment, but he didn't!"

Mari puts a hand on your shoulder. "Takeshi..just go!"

You nod. "Yeah. I'll be back soon!"

You walk forward, passing the enemy shinobi by and marching through the stone doors they came from. You're walking down a long stone hallway, that gets continually wider as you go forward. At the very end of the tunnel is natural sunlight. At once you're reminded of the Chunin Exams, and the final tournament. The way the applause poured down when you stepped through the light was unlike anything you'd felt before.

Now as you step through, there's no applause, but the howling of the wind can be heard clearly. You're standing in a huge, circular arena with a dusty dirt floor. All around you, behind a 10 foot tall stone wall, are bleachers also carved from stone. At the top off the huge cavern, a hole opens up to the sky above, illuminating the arena with the sunlight of noon.

Burning a hole in your head with his stare, is Shozuku. He's wearing a black tank top, and has his katana strapped to his side. In comparison to you, fully decked out in combat gear and equipment. Not to mention your Jet Sheath. Behind him, on an altar with a velvet pillow, rests a glowing crystal ball, with a black and green energy swirling within it.

He takes a few steps forward, coming into the light. "Whenever we meet, things seem to get in the way. Either you can't stop saving your friends and won't fight me, or you've got someone on your side that's a bit too much to handle. But finally I've got a way to drag you out into the open. That crystal ball back there behind me, recognize it?"

You shake your head. "Vaguely, but not really. I've probably seen all kinds of tacky crystal balls in shops.."

He frowns. "No, you idiot. On a mission you went on. Koji, that traitor, stole the orb and tried to see what kind of power he could draw from it. It gave him wild visions of power, but me and my scientists weren't distracted by this. We discovered the orb is nothing but a receptacle for Chakra. A vast enough one that it could hold a Tailed Beast captive."

Suddenly, the gears all click together for you. Looking at the swirling energy, you recognize it to be the same vile chakra that the Five-Winged Dragonfly had. The one that Hanto fended off, once.

Shozuku points his thumb backwards. "All I gotta do is break that thing, and a monster gets unleashed right in the middle of your country. So don't fuck with me here."

You slightly widen your stance, getting ready for combat. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long before Mari can come and assist you.

"Well, what are we waiting for then?" you say with a smile.

He shakes his head. "Not yet. It took you a little fighting to get here, right? You better take a solder pill, replenish your energy. I know you have them."

You take his advice, and crunch the pill for a boost of energy. Your chakra reserves are roughly back to 100%

He roars at you. "Shut up and fight!"

You form three Water Clones, and have them all sprint ahead at him. They fan out in multiple directions, crossing over each other's paths and weaving in and out consistently. You throw senbon through the gaps in their movement, and Shozuku reacts by swaying to the left and right just slightly, not making any more movement than necessary to dodge the attacks.

The clones reach him, and engage in close combat while you form the handsigns for False Sense: Fatigue.

The technique lands successfully! You start to think of another plan to attack with, but then things change. He draws his katana and cuts apart two of your clones with one armed swings, but the third strikes him directly in the solar plexus with a straight punch. Your eyebrow goes up in confusion. "Hm. Didn't actually expect to hit him there. There goes my Genjutsu.."

The pain Shozuku feels cancels out your technique. He recovers with shocking speed from the punch, lashing out with a stab to destroy the last Water Clone.

You look at him with a furrowed brow, thinking. You managed to land the first hit, but you had to use more chakra than you'd want to do so. He starts to march towards you, slowly picking up into a run and then a sprint. Shozuku holds his katana up with both hands, ready to engage.

Your clones fill the arena, but Shozuku doesn't hesitate in his sprint. As he enters the body of your illusions, he holds his sword out and begins to slash it wildly in every direction. You can see clear moments to pierce his timing, but it'd be dangerous to get anything more than a basic attack in.

Rolling out of the way of a sword swipe, you try to formulate a new idea to attack with. Going through your list of techniques, you decide that unleashing the Chakra Scalpel now is your best move. It's a technique he hasn't seen you use before, in addition to doing a critical amount of damage anywhere it lands.

Staying low, you rush at him from behind while he randomly swings his katana about. Just as you're ready to dive in, you stop though. He spins around on his pivot foot on a whim, and the tip of his blade nearly grazes your nose. Your laughing clones all leap away from him, leaving Shozuku in the center.

Even though he's not even hitting the clones, he keeps swinging his sword in an abnormal rhythm. Just when you think he's taking a break or making a wide swing, he pivots on his foot and does another sharp cut directly behind him. It takes you a moment, but you realize that he's going through combat forms with his sword as a means of defense. The strokes of his blade act as a shield, and he always turns to begin attacking his blind spot after a pause in rhythm.

You try to fake him out with a few clones to see if you can sneak up on him, but the same thing happens. He cuts through the clones, and turns to cut exactly where you were about to jump in a moment later.

He's responding to every feint as if it were a legitimate threat.

You have to alter your timing. He's expecting you to dodge and then attack, as part of your usual rhythm, but instead you'll have to be more aggressive. Attack as soon as his attack finishes, and you'll land the hit!

Dashing forward at top speed, you step in just as his sword swipe ends. You bring a glowing blue hand up at lightning speed, reaching out to touch his sword arm and disable him. All you need is to graze him, and you'll be able to sever the tendons.

His eyes light up when you step in front of him, however. To some degree, he must have been expecting you to fight him head on like this. Or rather, he was hoping. As your fingertips nearly graze his forearm, he pulls it back and rears his own head back.

Shozuku cracks his own head onto yours, landing a headbutt. You're stunned briefly, and duck under a horizontal sword stroke.

Your opponent keeps swinging at the air, seemingly baiting you into close combat with him.

This time when you dash in front of him, you shoot your hand forward at high speed.

But stop it, mid motion. His advanced reflexes cause him to start the motion for a counter attack, before he can read your feint.

Shozuku's body twists and dodges out of the way of a hand that never came, and you lean back and avoid the punch that was coming in response. Now he's off balance.

You shoot your other hand forward, and grip his shoulder, wiping away at it gently. Such a calm motion brings a roar from Shozuku, who grips his shoulder and kicks you in the stomach, sending you flying back outside of the crowd of Haze Clones.

You clutch your gut, smiling. He's knocked the wind out of you just now, but there's no serious damage. You observe him from afar. From what you can tell, his shoulder has a bruise rapidly forming in the shape of a handprint on it.

He explodes outwardly from the crowd, leaping high into the air. Shozuku bites the grip of his sword while he forms handsigns.

As he falls towards you, he takes his sword in one hand, but the other starts to glow a caustic green.

Your hair stands on edge. If he touches you with that hand, you'll become a ticking time bomb.

As he's falling towards you, you go through several handsigns and grin. He knows by now that you've been practicing fire style techniques for a while, so hopefully this will throw him off.

You point upwards, and jets of purple flame lick off your fingertip and rocket towards him. Shozuku is completely enveloped by the sudden flames, twisting out of control and yelling in surprise. At least, that's how it looks to him. From your perspective he's simply lost control of his body.

He hits the dirt floor limply, the shock of landing causing him to bounce off the ground once before hitting the ground a second time. He slowly starts to stand to his feet, dazed and confused. You line up a shot with a poisoned senbon, giving him a dose of the Fireplume extract right on top of the wound you caused with the Chakra Scalpel.

Shozuku's head shoots up, and he roars, ripping out the needle. You imagine not even he can deal with the immense pain he must be feeling right now.

He stands up, trembling. He forms the Shadow Clone Jutsu, and creates a copy of himself. The clone hangs back and starts to form handsigns, while the real Shozuku picks up his sword yet again and comes rushing at you, at top speed.

While you haven't been hit yet, at the rate that you're using your jutsu to keep up with him, I'd say you're both about even. You've gotten in a couple hits and he wasted an S ranked jutsu's chakra.

Remember that he's pretty used to fighting while injured/exhausted though

It occurs to me that while he's flailing we could prepare Paralyzing bells. Hit him with the sleep poison too, then ride out the fight until he's too sluggish to fight.
The coup de grace would be when he uses the last of his chakra to try and melt us, which we counter with Base Release. Bam, the despair is complete, and he gives in to the sleep. We then take his fucking head off and bring it to Naruto, sealed in a box.
