NEW PLAYERS WELCOME[/red

Welcome to Gyrocite.

You play as an all-around "handy man" for an upstart company whose invention could change the world along with its partners. Your current job has you rescuing a gunsmith's domestic partner, preventing your boss being framed for a terrorist plot, and murdering high ranking foreign dignitaries for being dicks.

Don't worry about catching up or trying to understand it all. Just play along

Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2085278/

A quick start guide is there to explain general concepts. The full rules are here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hRb7fQuzeSfjKbbYNOWa6V1xWs3-CM9lKBBDkJFcQ8I/edit?usp=sharing

Don't worry about all the math. A character calculator is provided to make things easier here. Just make a copy for yourself. Sorry, can't give edit rights:

Gyrocite uses an AP system. You may perform as many actions as your AP allows.

All players can do the following moves:

[*Observe] 3AP 2d12+MAR+AP Hit: 16 Observe to discover information. The higher degree of success the more information revealed.
[*!Crouch] 3AP Crouch down. +10% gun damage. Take -20% damage from guns. Take +10% damage if attacked by melee. Moving takes 8AP. -1 sight profile -2 sound profile. Get back up for 1AP
[*!Prone] 3AP Lay on the floor prone. +20% gun damage. Take -30% damage from guns. Take +20% damage if attacked by melee. Moving takes 12AP. -2 sight profile -3 sound profile. Get back up for 3AP
[*Move] 4AP/2AP Move up to VEN. Spend 2AP to move half VEN rounded down
[*Interact] 3AP Universal action to interact with switches and other items found.
[*Reload] 6AP reload your gun/equipment once its ammo is depleted.
[*Item Switch] 6AP switch/equip an item from your inventory.
[*Use Item] 6AP Use an item. You may need to roll dice.
[*%Dodge] 4AP 2d12+VEN+bonus hit: 20; move ½ Ven out of the way of an incoming attack; add ap to make it more effective

All rolls are done using d24. The reason being is that 24 has many factors enabling several dice combinations to be rolled.

Gyrocite is a full on TTRPG but is mathematically consistent enough that once a single class is learned the others can be played as well. Character creation is robust and varied enough that no two characters are exactly the same. If you'd like to jump into the thick of things now then simply copy a sheet from here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uRMvILWgQcC_R96y6GH7uUTRKu4DOMtjkt9DrbOL7nA

Each sheet has a description that goes in to detail on how to play that specific build

Character creation takes investment but is rewarding. Train yourself and figure out your abilities by trading in your Merit Point for certain abilities. You raise Stats, or acquire PRQs with them.

Donnel: You’ll die with those words Southerner!

Sir Donnel rushes towards Julien losing sight of Valentino and Deacon in his rage. Behind Julien the guards charge the fencer who adeptly parries their blows. Unable to navigate the narrow surroundings they face Julien in a single file.

Deacon: Nows as any time to get out of here let’s go Valentino

Deacon sets up the zipline for Valentino to cross onto the roof. As they set up two guards on the roof attempt to cut the zipline.

Deacon: Oh no you don’t

Deacon uncaps the top of his cane revealing a trigger. He aims it carefully and at the last second twists his arm. The bullet hits one guard, ricocheting off of them, and hitting his partner.

Valentino: Such skill. Did you perhaps learn from my father? Our company has had many students but he never mentioned you.

Deacon: School was never my thing. Learned on my own but I’m very aware of what your father could do.

The two zip up the zipline onto the roof passing the stunned guards.

On the roof, Lirenis finds herself surrounded by several Chrysian guards. At the same time a large figure lands on top of the roof having flown in from the west somehow.

Guard: We have surrounded one of them. Apprehend her so Sir Donnel may extract information.

Deacon: Seven hells more of them?! Lirenis keep them busy we’re heading out!

>Park
An inspector with a strange mask walks towards the reflection pool. Alex can overhear their conversation.

Mask: Have we learned of the whereabouts of the intruder?

Inspector: No Sir. The captain has ordered the Constabulary louts to go after them.

Scientist: Sir. The field emitters still haven’t run through their whole core. We can still expect a few more hours before they can be feasibly moved. Without the lights it’s difficult to monitor the field stability.

Mask: I did not ask for an explanation nor excuses. Have the field emitters ready to transport at the scheduled time. We must vacate here before the fair continues.

Scientist: I must warn you sir. Without being able to monitor the field emitters of their stability we can very well have a Gyre field collapse. We can avoid that if the monitor locks are opened.

Mask: You must have forgotten that only the captain has the keys to the locks. Why can’t you just pry it open.

Scientist: Doing so would likely cause a Gyre Field Collapse sir.

All of the chrysian goons near Julien are set to dodge.

Prefect is standing on metal, so expect to make noise.

El Mamut can move and act.

Vickens can access any floor of the tenement.

With a flick of the wrist Julien unleashes a slash that hits the three guards. The guards believe Lirenis’ bluff at least enough to not immediately attack her.

Deacon: Alright then. Off we go Valentino.

Samantha: Deacon I’m nearly out of the restaurant. The car’s already here. We’ll need to leave soon before all the police come and block off the whole area.

Deacon: Working on it, but before we go...

Prefect scopes out his surroundings and finds a similarly masked Council captain accompanied by two constables. The captain has the key on him and all three are distracted from the chaos.

Samantha: Prefect if it comes to it blow them up. A gyre field collapse happening would cause some serious damage but no one is around. Shooting them with your gun or fire would probably be enough to cause them to collapse but you might get caught in its wake. I don’t know how big the area would be.

Marianne: I have some good news. Their network just got booted. Everyone thinks there’s a fire at the ball from the smoke and all nearby constables are being called to deal with it. With that and what’s happening in the slums they’ve been set to low priority. They likely can’t get any backup now. I have an idea… Alex try to at least incapacitate the guards so if Prefect gets that key somehow he can throw it over. As for an escape, you saw some fireworks and other stuff earlier?

Prefect skulks closer to the group. He can see the officers walking away from sight towards the service stairs. The door must open from the inside. He can’t discern if the council captain has a GFE through the darkness. Alex looks through the booths and finds some items:

>Cymbolian percussor; 2EQ
A novelty toy that looks like a Cymbolian beating on drums.
[*Wind] 1AP; wind up the clockwork to give it mechanical life.
[*Percussive parade]

>x2 Cherry Bombs 3/3; 1EQ (3*JUP)Rng
Small fireworks that can create smoke and a deafening boom

>x2 Starlight Mortar; 1EQ
Mortar that when fired explodes in the sky lighting up the night briefly. Can cause fires if used unsafely. [Uncovers FoW in 5AoE]

>Alex state which items you picked up

He also overhears the scientist.

Scientist: I’m not privy to all of the details but councilman Eldson did say this was very important evidence. It seems the Chrysians have been plotting something for months.

Odele: That doesn’t make sense. Unless they don’t know that Eldson is working with the Chrysians...

Julien mocks the knight, indignant outrage in his voice as he shouts into the fog, his insults becoming formal as he slips into chrysian out of habit.
"The actions of a coward ser Donnell, where is your honor?! To run after a woman rather than fight a fair opponent!
/I dub thee craven, and spit on your name, for that is the just recompense of your actions!/"
Spitting over the railing in disgust the gore covered fencer glares at the two guards left to him, when he speaks again his voice is commanding and regal, he continues speaking chrysian in his distinct southern accent:
"Sers, I will tell you now, if you walk away you will live. If you continue to follow the orders of a craven who flees from a lone, outnumbered swordsman to assault a woman you *WILL* die."
Julien pauses, and regards the men who stand before him
"That you've fought now speaks of your honor, you stand before a man who has bloodied you, you stand over the bodies of your comrades, your mettle is admirable, so I'll say this:if you decide to walk away from this fight, know your honor will be satisfied, and that should you desire employment elsewhere? I could always use reliable men who can stand on their word, and really, would you rather serve a coward like him? Is my virtue not evidenced clearly here, have I not fought with honor and given my opponents the chance at Mercy?"

I'm bleeding to death from multiple deep tissue lacerations, I've got two cracked ribs, I've got lingering jupasatine time-line dislocation from an awry jump, there's a giant automaton coming closer and closer and it just tore an actua policeman into molecular smears, but you don't hear /me/ complaining.

Mostly because all I feel is numb and lightheaded. I've really lost an astounding amount of blood. Did you know your fingers get all tingly and sleepy after the first litre? I didn't. This is fantastic first hand research; although my old first aid instructor did warn me not to cut myself to see what it was like. BUt this is FINE, it was OTHER people.

Lirenis as a servant does comes unnoticed by the Chrysian guard. His carelessness costs him his life as her Hades sends another soul away. Julien makes his way out of the Ballroom he catches up to Sir Donnel and three of his swordhands.

Deacon: Thanks for that Lirenis.

Lirenis’ entrance surprises the guards as they are caught unaware. Julien readies himself and charges forward as he protects Lirenis from a strike. The resulting exchange leaves two guards dead with only one left alive.

Samantha: Guys help. Some guy just burst through the door with a sword and is screaming in Chrysian.

Deacon: That’s our last Knight. Your date killed the other one which was his master. I’m coming around the back. Can you handle it?

Samantha (under her breath): He did what!? No. No no no no why!?

Deacon: The boy was surrounded I don’t blame him. We’ll have to let the our Council allies handle it. International incident aside, Odele just told me our slum runners apprehended the bomber and rescued Ernesto. Not without causing a ton of damage. The Constabulary might not be too happy with how we got things done.

Samantha: Wait I have an idea...

May we have a quick update on Lirenis' status as of >>2149586 ?
>>

considering stabilize is the only way to keep a player from dying I have to take into consideration what would happen now. I'm leaning towards administering aid to someone will simply prevent them from dying a bit longer but will not be enough to get them back into fighting shape.

What is happening now is once an agent hits 1 below RES they die after MER turns accounting for wounds and other abilities. If administered aid they regain the RES but lose 1 a turn until they hit below again the process continues.

What will probably happen AFTER this map is that a player may go down to their MER in negatives and once they exceed that they die. This will make it more lethal.

I will say that I'm being generous with the drone order and giving you guys just what you need.

I'll be taking feedback once this is all over. :)

Julien uses Mar-aid on his comrade. Her bleeding stops but she's still drawing labored breaths. The young fencer slashes twice at her attacker felling the final guard.

Odele: I have one of Erevu’s clockworks ready. I can’t reach you Samantha since you’re inside but our Handymen are doable.

Samantha (whispers): Thanks Odele. This is strange, the man seems to be stepping down. He ran towards the kitchen.

Odele: Donnel must have figured out he’s lost and is trying to escape. I’d imagine they learned that Ernesto is rescued, the bomber is apprehended, and we’ve made it with at least two of the Gyre Bombs.

Prefect throws the Council Captain over the ledge. His panicked protests do not save him. The wind guides the man on top of the Automaton. Interrupting its trance causes it to emit arcs of energy and steam. It has clearly sustained tremendous damage. A curious development. The servant makes his way over the ledge to begin his descent. The street lights illuminate an area and he can make out the ball guests filling the streets.

When climbing without the proper gear you must roll 2d12+Ven+Bonus to hold on. The night is calm so the hit is 10. You can add AP to increase your bonus. I was rolling this in the background and can continue.

Wasting no time Alex dashes to the streets. He deftly jumps the fence and vanishes into the chaos unfolding onto the streets.

Marianne: Great job Alex. Keep moving south. Odele is getting another car for you guys. Its best you don’t leave with the Ball group.

Odele: Killing the Council Captain will enrage the Guard. Still Eldson won’t have as much influence over them.

With the mission all but done. {Foreman} may decide to wrap-up to speed up progression. Here is what is left for players:

-Escape with the remaining Gyrebomb (Extremely likely)
-Escape to the company car (very likely)
-Avoid suspicion (As likely as not)
-[Optional] Save Lirenis (Likely)

If wrap-up is decided please roll 3d24 for outcome. Due to everyone’s performance you have favorable odds for all scenarios

I am content to {Wrap Up}, but will defer to Lirenis and Julien, if either wants to press on with something?
>Y, but standby for objections. Will decide (and roll) in 1hr

I vote Yes as well, since we had until turn 20 to get away and liri will die on turn 23
join the discord!

Were Eldson's Boxers actually marked with some kind of identification that could be traced back to him? Would we be able to discredit him further if I planted them on the scene?

Fine by me. Just have rolls done before thread death.

>>2152360
kind of already too late but it'd be one hell of a calling card.

Rolled 7, 18, 2 = 27 (3d24)

"Right, it is time to depart this place.
Alex, yes, leave the gloves somewhere. Or give them to me. A {Servant}'s work is never done. Mari, I need a badge and uniform to disappear, and a name added to your rolls a few weeks ago. Yes, I am asking you to forge official records, we are try to prevent a war here. Ruby? An address of one of Eldson's holdings. Preferably through a shell, but weak. I must find a corpse that looks enough like myself to pass. It is going to be a long weekend.
Jules, can I safely presume that you will look to Liré's well-being?"

"There's nothing I can do for her but carry her to the car, really"
