….Well, you were kind of asking for that.

“You're going to sit back and watch the fireworks, aren't you, Akari-niji-chan,” you murmur dolefully. Her smile doesn't even quiver. “My subordinates are insubordinate. And possibly sadists.”

“Yes, aniki. Though the real problem isn't Kiki-hime at all you know.” She steps aside as you get off of the nice, friendly supportive wall and make your way into the cold, cruel heartless hallway.

“Yes, I've had this fight with Kiku-chan already. I'm not looking forward to that one either. I don't suppose I could-” Akari is already shaking her head, still smiling. “No, I didn't think so. Ah well, at least I'll get more cuddle time when we get home.”

“Are we going home, aniki?” asks Akari seriously.

“I am afraid so. We might be going public, but my home is still the safest place for us, invasive oni or not. There is still enough power that it can't be influenced by other threats as well, especially standard, every-day legal threats. Technically we're still kidnappers, involving apparent minors in lewd and lascivious acts, and Yakuza all on our own. Toshio might not be smart or capable of running with those, but Hojo him,self isn't above that sort of thing.”

She nods agreeably, and then steps over to the stage door, guarded by Shoko-chan and Yuuhi-chan, both once more in much more civilian clothing. Yuuhi is passed out, the top of her head pressed against the walls and her ears spread out against it, even though she's standing up, her nodachi held loosely in one hand. It's tempting to test her awareness, but you're not in condition to cope if she becomes actually violent about it. Shoko looks fairly happy with herself, but there's an edge of tension in her and she glances past you.

“You were lovely Shoko, and I'm impressed. You didn't have much time for rehearsal, but you were perfect, and your skill as a narrator was impressive.” You glance up at her. “I don't know why you changed forms, though. You look like you, and if others have issues with that, they're being silly.”

“Actually, it was the outfit – they didn't have anything in my size,” she says with a blush that turns her cheeks almost black.

“Should have gone for something naughtier then,” you quip, which makes her blush even more, and you pat her shoulder. “Never fear, your sweetheart is on her way. Be extra nice to her, she saved my life tonight I suspect.” You pat her gently on the shoulder to reassure her as Akari steps in front of you to open the door. You also hear commotions starting at the exits now, though nothing actually in the hallway.

“Please don't let her squeeze me to hard; it would be....bad.” Akari glances at you, the smile fading as she realizes you're not kidding at all. She nods slowly.

“Gan, Genma, are either of you 'whisperers'?” At their affirmative nods you outline the new plan to them, and have them instruct their peers. Fuchiko stares at you like you've grown a second head, especially when you explain you'll need body doubles.

“Wait, so some of them can change forms?”

You glance at her curiously. “Some can; in most cases it's an illusion, but some are capable of....oh. I wouldn't recommend it, the sex is always disappointing.”

“Oh,” she replies, crestfallen.

Genma and Gan look startled, while Agato snickers. Gan looks at Akari. “Did your boss just preemptively cock-block me?”

Akari nods sagely. “You can thank her later.”

“Uh....” Akari smiles calmly at the confused nogitsune-child. Who starts turning red. “Now why would she do a thing like that?” His ire starts to rise as his embarrassment increases.

Agato claps him on the back. “Relax, they don't care,” he says with a wink to Akari who inclines her head.

He starts to get huffy and Shoko leans down slightly. “I wouldn't. Akari can turn me into a knot, and her girlfriend might get upset.” Gan relaxes, not at the threat, but at the mention that Akari has a girlfriend.

“Seriously, no one is going to have the time or energy to give a shit who sleeps with what anymore in a few months, get used to it,” you murmur softly. “Bigger issues now!” He snaps to attention and you finish giving him the instructions to tell others through the Void. You glance at Gan. “And seriously, you're welcome. You have no idea how much fan-girl trouble I just saved you from.”

He looks confused while Genma snickers and Agato firmly grabs him and drags him off, while Fuchiko signs forlornly and get head pats from Genma. “I really ought to ask Er Yin how the pair-bonding works, because that's a fucked up square right there,” you murmur.

Shoko smiles. “It'll work out I hope.” Akari nods and makes agreeable noises.

Yuuhi pipes up softly, “It will. They'll be good for each other.” She yawns hugely, and slips to the floor, asleep again.

“Right, Shoko-chan, go find your girlfriend and see what's taking them so long, would you? I don't know how involved what they're doing is, but I'd rather have you there to help. Inau-kun is wonderful, but her training isn't for this sort of stuff.” She nods gratefully and summons a cloud, which she crouches very low on before flying off. “Really have to up the discipline levels.”

“Mhn,” disagrees Akari, but she doesn't elaborate. You take a slow, deep breath as Akari opens the door to the dressing room for the actors.

The place is an organized disaster, and you are gratified to see Yui-niji-chan at the door, dressed in her cut-offs and tank top, chest, arms and legs once more wrapped in the simple cloth she prefers. Also holding her taiko sticks ready to blast the heaven out of you, which warms your heart. Her eyes light up, literally brightening in their cool glow and she steps towards you only to be brought up short by a simple gesture from Akari. She doesn't look hurt, only startled; she looks at you and then her eyes flash, lightning jumping between her fingers. She opens her mouth but you place your fingers before your lips in an X, bowing apologetically. Yui-chan seethes, but doesn't explode at you.

Reiha is there as well, just finished getting dressed, though you're unsure how she can fit so much inside that poor, straining dress shirt. Peta-chan is in Fuuta's lap, making origami figures as the barely dressed oni-child watches with great interest. To your surprise , Jinyuu-onee-sama is there, and she smiles at you, gesturing slightly with her fan towards one of the dressers, where Kiki-hime sits, sparkling in her bright stylized and gaudy idol's outfit as she speaks on the phone to her manager.

Kiki-hime hasn't seen you yet, and you can't help but smile as she imperiously tells her agent that there will be no second showing ever, and that if someone missed the show, they will just have to wait and see if she feels like doing a second showing in the future – like next century.

You walk the room, checking on everyone as Kiki-hime deals with her agent, who seems to be trying to wheedle a little more out of her from the sound of his voice over the phone. She's having none of it, which you're proud of her for above and beyond being proud of her efforts in the play. While she's used to restrictions on her movements and efforts due to her high profile life, the restrictions you've been forced to place on her make it even harder for compared to most idols.

You're kind of curious how she'll react when she finds out you're lowering more of the restrictions.

Fuuta-chan smiles up at you as you walk over to her and Peta-chan, and you lean down and give Peta-chan a kiss on the cheek, which she leans into so that she can present her cheek to you without ceasing work on her intricate origami figurines. You understand that you can make samurai with folded paper and no cutting, but she's managed complexities of it that you would be hard pressed to manage without being shown exactly how to manage it. You run your hand through Fuuta-chan's hair and she blushes and looks down shyly, prompting a curious look from Peta.

Akari and Yui stay near the door and speak quietly, half in whispers and half in hastily written kanji on each other's hands and arms. Yui can't help but glance at you but you politely ignore that. She'll get better as time goes on. You congratulate Reiha on her portrayal of Izanami, which she demurely refutes several times before grudgingly accepting the praise. She does stare at you when you mention she had an excellent grasp of the portrayal of her intense presence and overwhelming nature. Jinyuu-onee-sama smiles, and explains she is here by both Akari's and Kiki-hime's requests; the former for spiritual security, the latter for guidance in not offending Kuraokami any more than was strictly required. She kisses your cheek and then pull back in alarm before you hush her as well, her eyes worried and a little frightened.

You make a note that you're not the only one who can feel Chi and Shen by touch.

The hot blooded argument from your wife seems to have cooled slightly, so you slip over and carefully lean over to wrap your arms about Kiki-hime's shoulders. Her eyes brighten and the smile she gives you is brilliant and belies the tone of her voice as she speaks with her agent. You let your lips brush her ear, and whisper softly, “You know, if you would like his head displayed on your wall, I know a half dozen assassins who would happily deliver for the merest smile, Hime-sama....” She has to cover her mouth as she leans forward, stifling the laugh, and you let her go, before she pulls you against the back of her chair by accident.

Yui-niji-chan doesn't even try to hide the appraising gaze she has fixed on you, and it's almost embarrassing to be looked at with that much intensity. Rather than risking her getting up and hugging you, you kneel next to her, then curl your legs to the side and lean across her lap, basking in her warmth. That alarms Yui-niji-chan of course, who has a very good clue as to how exhausted you must be to need to settle down so completely in a strange place, but more importantly make Akari-niji-chan concerned. She demonstrates her concern by not reacting at all.

Kiki-hime strokes your hair slowly, her fingers lightly tracing your horns in passing, and you feel the crushing wave of weariness envelope you.

Eyes half-closed you take comfort in her touch, knowing that this is as important to her as taking care of your clan is to you. This is part of her life, as they are part of yours. You won't demean or cheapen it by demanding her attention when she needs it elsewhere; she's demonstrated that respect for you many times, it is the absolute least that you can do for her.

You don't move, resting your arms on her lap and curled next to her chair as you are. Her soft, slow strokes are almost enough to lull you to sleep. You suddenly smile at the image that presents itself in your exhausted mind, and then murmur softly, just so she can hear it.

“Woof.”

Her hand stops and whatever she was saying trails off slowly. The blush starts at her breasts, and slowly creeps up her chest to envelop her soft, warm cheeks and then to the delicately pointed tips of her ears. Taking her hand from your head you gently grasp it, not letting her pull away from embarrassment, and kiss her hand slowly and softly, ignoring everything but her that exists in the world. The blush intensifies as you turn her hand and lay a soft, warm kiss along her palm before you lay your cheek in her hand.

A question from the phone wakes her from her stunned embarrassment, and you let her get on with her business a you rest as best you can without lowering her hand. The voices across the room continue, and your sister rises to speak with Reiha, while Fuuta-chan and Peta continue their pleasant pastime, which you are certain is more than merely playing with paper toys. Kiki-hime is looking down at you; you can feel her Chi moving across your cheek, the warmth of it across your skin from her concerned, loving gaze upon you.

Slow, even breaths and the presence of the ones you love enfolding you helps; you can feel your body shifting, the power you need to maintain its integrity lessening moment by moment. Then she is saying goodbye and you open your eyes, lowering her hand. She reaches for you quickly, her arms spread wide, but a rush of wind erupts behind you, and strong, gentle hands catch hers, holding her back. You tense and look down, expecting to hear the snap of bone and the sharp intake of breath as Kiki-hime accidentally injures Akari....but the voice that comes from behind you is Yui's.

“You can't do that princess,” an extremely apologetic Yui murmurs softly as she laces her fingers with Kiki-hime's. “You might hurt her.”

Not moving for your own safety as you sit between a kneeling oni-child and what you once thought was a spoiled brat of a princess, the expression of shock that the insulting suggestion elicits wakens the memory of that spoiled brat. But this is Yui, who has no ego, no aggressive presence, and certainly nothing but love for both you and the princess she currently challenges. Kiki-hime looks down at you, still and unmoving as a statue, and her eyes grow wide. Slowly she extracts her fingers gently from Yui's; Yui smiles gently up at her princess and kneels protectively behind you, sitting seiza.

“Ryukusa-chan? What happened?” You open your eyes fully and look up at her, the fear and love warring in her expression almost breaking your heart.

>I had Yakuza to handle, but one of them was foolish and malevolent enough to have one of this bodyguard twisted in an Abomination. Inau-kun took care of the Nue-child who would have helped said abomination with one shot, but I had to pay for each blow I inflicted -although I still won the trade-off. It is only afterward I've learned what I hadn't realized I needed in order to defeat him with less of a burden. I also met nice people, though.

[+] Yakuza, a nue-child Inau-kun killed, a terrifying abomination that hurt me a little less bad than I hurt it, you know, the usual.

“If it were possible,” you explain softly, “I would say Ryoga-san is attempted to advance himself from half-demon to full demon by trying to make as many horrible, disturbing, terrifying monstrosities as he possibly can. I had thought the abominations at the oceanic research institute were bad, but I was mistaken.” You know have Peta-chan's undivided attention; the kidnapping and rescue of Reiha cemented your alliance as nothing else could have. “Ryoga found a nue-child, one of the body guards that Shinkai-sama assigned to protect Yamada's wife. Yamada apparently made more than one deal with Ryoga, because what he put together was something....”

You take a deep breath. “It was, looked acted and felt, human, until it went for my throat, when it became a psychic bakemono. I mean, straight insane monster. With esper powers. It hurt me only a little less than I hurt it, and if Inau-kun hadn't killed the nue-child I would have been in much deeper trouble. But I learned my lessons well; but we have to be even more careful of outsiders. I don't know that the thing knew it was a thing, only that he'd been given....gifts.” Sighing, you kiss Kiki-hime's palm against and rest your cheek against it, much to her delightful and blushing pleasure. “It was unexpected, and unfortunately nothing that could have been planned for, not with it's powers, but I ended its....I don't know that it could be called a life.”

“That is very bad, Ryukuza-san,” Reiha says unhappily. “If they can look and feel human, how will we know whom to trust?”

“Well, it's shapeshifting was strictly between human and not human, so we don't have to worry about replacements. It was also obedient. I'm much more worried about what else he's cooking in that lab of his.” You rise slowly and Kiki-hime reaches for you, but restrains herself. With a smile you take her hands in yours and help her up....a little, because Yui is glowering hard enough to burn holes in paper. “I am safe and in the care of my talented and beautiful warriors, just like you. We will be safe, and even now Peta-chan and Chisato's people are making sure we can escape. Speaking of which....”

You gesture and Akari hands out photos, schedules, autograph cards, and other memorabilia. Not just to Kiki-hime, but to Reiha, Akari, and Yuuhi as well as Shoko, who has slipped inside without you noticing. Which, while disturbing, you write off as only because you are still exhausted and hurting. Yui receives hers with an expression that is reminiscent of someone who has just been told the harmless snake they have just been handed in not only virulently poisonous but has decided it is her mortal enemy and demands a duel. “Autographs. You're all going to be quite famous, and you need to treat this as such an occasion.” Yui's look of absolute horror is priceless. “Yes, even you. Kiki-hime and Akari will help you.”

“Aniki, I can't be famous. I'm an oni! They kill us for things like that!” You look confused, while Peta, surprisingly, is nodding calmly in agreement, while Reiha looks genuinely worried.

“They haven't done anything like that in a long time,” says Shoko. “If that were the case I'd be....” You look at her mildly and she turns deep, dark, abyssal trench black. The others are looking at her with a variety of expressions, except for Peta-chan and Reiha, who bot look away from Shoko. Not shunning her, but politely ignoring that she said anything.

“Look, you have to understand. Your play was amazing. I have it on good authority that at least one kami, maybe more, watched it. And if they didn't approve, we would know it. And it truly was magnificent.” You look at all of them, but it is Kiki-hime's hand that you take in yours. “I could not be more proud of all of you. You honored me, and you honored Yui.” You bow to them and there are blushes and bows and refusals of your accolades.

Yui is trembling as she looks at the souvenirs that she has to sign. “Aniki....I don't know how to write,” she says softly, still terrified of the burden you've place don her soft, rounded shoulders.

“We'll teach you, Yui-niji-chan. You'll be fine.” You smile and Kiki-hime squeezes your hand gently. “Now....here's how we leave.....”
