The dice have spoken.

Tapping your pen against the notepad you do your absolute best to ignore the german professer's ramblings about the systematic destruction of some bunch of people way back when. Honestly, history is boring.

Instead of continuing to illustrate your boredome with facial expressions or masterpieces of doodle art, you decide to indulge in a good round of people watching. The gentle sound of snoring to your left tells you that Nicholas is as attanetive and entertaining as ever, honestly if that blockhead wasn't head over heels for you; you'd tell him that's he exactly as exciting as the cement block he hitches that weird bike of his too.

Were he able to do more than compliment you in ways no man or boy ever has you'd probably care about him.

Herb is nerding out and muttering to himself corrections of the lecture as usual. Honestly, if he was less serious about "winning your love" and more serious about his dream of being a vetenarian; you'd respect him more.

Alas, neither is the man of your dreams; Ulrich. Everything from his calm demeanor and muscled arms just make you melt, or explode in a fire... or uh you suck at words. He's hot and makes you hot.

Unfortunately he seems to be one of those slow to open up types; after all the conversation topic you've broached - you still don't know much.

Why is Ulrich here?

What does he want in life?

Most importantly, why hasn't he complimented you?

"That's an angry face Sissi." A mocking voice says behind you, managing to lower itself to a whisper, "Try staring at the window instead of people. Less creepy."

"I was not staring." You huff, crossing your arms and trying to ignore the blonde Italian.

"Sure." Odd replies. "Tell me something princess, when are you going to take the hint Ulrich isn't interested?"

"When he actually tells me." You spit actually glring over your shoulder at him.

"Good luck with that." He wishes, swinging back on his chair, "More chance of this professor actually looking up from his book."

"Hey weirdo. Since you're so smart, why don't you tell me why Ulrich doesn't like me." At this point you just turn around and lean on the back of your chair, staring up at the reclining artist in the row behind.

"Well, he doesn't know you." Odd says with surprising sincerity, "He's a real private and quiet guy, so when you keep trying to force a friendship it doesn't go so well."

Honestly, you never really considered Ulrich to be the introwhatever type. He's a super athletic German... that seems wrong - "Like... I should play hard to get or something?"

"Nah he'd think you're bored of him." Odd says, scatching his hair while thinking, "I don't think there's a right answer Sparkles. I'm not exactly very good at picking up guys and you two are kinda different people."

You puff up and give him the icy glare of a woman who knows she is not to be trifled with and will fuck up anyone who dares to, "You're just being a dick and trying to get me upset is that what it is? you think it's funny to lead a girl on-"

Odd isn't looking at you, he's staring at his phone and all the colour has drained from his face. In act, he looks like he's going to be sick. "I gotta run." Is all he offers, practically leaping from his seat and running for the door. With disbelief you and the class follow his progress as he tears open the door and flees.

The lecturer actually looks up at the sound of the door opening, depsite ignoring the sounds of a teenager charging down the old wooden steps. "MR DELAROBA! GET BACK HERE BEFORE I-" Somehow an angry German shouting and gesticulating only adds to the chaos; though you notice Ulrich looking at his phone and furtively checking the coast before edging toward the door himself.

Unfortunately for your future husband, the professor has begun wrangling the class, "EVERYONE BACK TO YOUR SEATS NOW! ONE DELINQUIANT DOES NOT EXCUSE THE REST OF YOU - INCLUDING YOU HERR STERN!"

The man's moustache is frantcially twitch as he turns to the blackboard, students all around returning to their seats with mumrurs and whispers about what madness had taken over the usually chill Odd.

But Ulrich is glancing towards the open window... gears turning in his head as are yours. Were you not so in sync with your beau you wouldn't know he wanted to escape that way... but he's not that quick is he?

With a flash of birlliance you edge your way out to the edge of the row of seating in which you have been assigned. This draws a couple of side eyes from Herb and Nicholas; but it with an overdramatic; "Uhraaaaaaaam" you throw yourself to the side as if you have fainted and fell down the stairs.

As the crowd begin to panic and scream, the girls all swarming like the glorious little worker bees they are before you; Herr Boring Von Moustache tries to work out what happened and restore order.

Ulrich hesitates for a second, allowing you to give him a meaningful look that with your top tier acting trasnlates as "Go, but you better explain later."

You should probably enroll in thetre club, you're great....

Oh yeah, Professor is calling for help.... better go limp.

Oh God Herb is gonna put you in the recovery position and you can't open your eyes again or you're going to cuss him out... Ulrich better appreciate what you're doing for him.

You're running through the woods faster than you ever have in your life, honestly you're not sure if your heart has beat or you've even breathed since you got the message form Jeremy. In fact despite the situation and your exertions you've next to no sweat on your brow... instead you're just kind of cold and shivering as the branches whip out at you and leave scratches up and down your legs.

Walking to the factory via the path would be safer, but this is a time for haste. Not one for long winding and meandering paths past abandoned cottages. So here you are pushing past the limits like Rocky in the wilderness. Thankfully it's been clear skies today or else the knee high grass would be a veritable swamp.

Eventually you're on streets again, looking left and right to make sure nobody is calling the police on the school aged kid covered in cuts and bruises emerging from the woods.

It looks like you're clear.

As you briskly walk, attempting to look unsuspecting and you suspect looking like an idiot going through a bad breakup or having fled a mugging... You begin hitting the screen of your phone untilt the dial tone connect to Einstein himself,

The thud of concrete under your shoes seems louder than any of your metalworking tools as the ringing goes once, twice, thrice, four times and then is picked up, "Jeremy what's happening?"

"I can't ifnd Xana. Look I need you both in Lyoko now. He disapeared from Lyoko during lunch yesterday and there's no trace of him."

The news hits like a truck, stopping you in place mid road crossing. A car honks, forcing you to jog the rest of the way to the pavement, "What do you mean he's gone?"

"I don't know, it's like someone pulled everything related to him out of the system. But that's not possible he's a part of Lyoko..." You can practically see Jeremy taking off his glasses to rub his eyes. "I have a last known location for him and that's it."

"Nothing else is weird? Like at all? No cryptic warning or backdoor into the mainframe? Maybe some kind of backtrace spike you can do?" The desperation in your voice is reaching pleasing levels now, but instead of platitude Jeremy just groans.

"Just get here and never speak about computers to me again." The phone hangs up and you pocket it. Realisiing that not only did you leave your bag in the classroom - but your jacket too. Even though it's Autumn, a chill sets into your bones.

If you find Xana... what could have made him go dark?

Will you find him?

The factory seems to loom over you as you sprint and slide under the shutter in a smooth movement, wishing you had a hat to reach back for in a flit of whimsy. Only to regret the whimsy and feel guilty for deriving any pleasure from your friend's need.

As dark and drab as ever, you're not yet familiar enough with the factory to make a beeline for the elevator in the pitch black; so the rapidly dwindling battery in your phone is sacrificed to providing illumination. As without it you would not be able to take the quick route under belts and over disconnected machinery to the gleaming golden lift.

"I'm sending you into the Forrest zone. Xana was last there at the very edge of Lyoko's boundary." Jeremy reports over the PA system, his voice booming through the speakers hard enough to shake some of the older industrial units.

With a nod unseen to anyone but your reflection in the closing vault doors, you find your belief and resolve; "So just drop me on top of him." You suggest, "In and Out in time for Geography."

"Odd, if I could place you anywhere on Lyoko we'd never have to worry about any monsters or obstacles ever. I can get you within a ten minute run." Jeremy sighs again, honestly he's kind of getting on your nerves.

The elevator arrives at it's destination, the locks of the door hiss in release. Steam releasesfrom the join, but you step forward through it uncaring. A scowl painting your face as you steel yourself for whatever this trip to Lyoko will bring.

Transferring: Odd

You hear Jeremy's usual commentary as you step in the booth and thinking of home. If something happened to Xana, you'll probably have to shut down the computer and call the police. Which would mean a long coach ride home...

The doors slam shut and a white light begins scanning you, a small glow outlining your feet as it begins to creep up your body.

Scanning

As the light show reaches your eyes, you close them and beginning praying for the first time in who knows how long. If God's up there, he probably knows you're not exactly the most devout, but a little extra back up can't hurt too much can it.

After all, you're just asking him to protect someone, that's part of his job as far as you're concerned.

Virtualization

You open your eyes, trees rising from the digital sea and ground up into the sky. Each one is as impossibly thing and strong as ever, though instead of peaceful tranquility, you see monsters everywhere. Bloks marching in columns of Six, hornets patrolling the skies like fighter wings.

Kanklerats... everywhere. Swarms of the things blasting apart every little shred of digital foliage in a display of either scorched earth rage or frustrated desperation.

As a bunch of Bloks make to turn onto the narrow stretch of grassland you've appeared upon, inspiration bids you jump to the trunk of a nearby tree and utilize your claws to scramble upward undetected.

Claw, Claw, Step, Step.

Honestly, in the real world you're kinda into extreme sports in the way most aritsts are; all the freedom and rebellious overtones they put out really do it for you - but free climbing up a vertical trunk of a tree over certain death...

You're not keen.

But you are glad you're using your super digital body instead of your fleshy body, because you'd probably be in agony by now.

"Hey Jeremy. I need you to guide me to Xana." You dig your right claw in much harder than normal, allowing you a solid base to pivot and overlook the monster blighted landscape. "I'm going to have to dodge a freaking army."

There is a moment of silence whilst Jeremy activates the communications, a moment where eveyr concievable bad thing runs through your mind in sheer paranoia, "Okay. Do you see where the Kanklerats are now, you're going to need to jump there and then run the way the honrets are coming..."

"So run at all the monsters, got it. Odd out." As yousign off you jump, landing on the one kanklerat who has trailed behind. The momentum of your pounce takes him backwards and off his feet, firing lasers harmlessly into the air until you put an arrow in him mid stride.

"You know this isn't a walkie talkie right?" Jeremy asks as you stay low, expecting retaliation.

Instead of the metaphorical sirens blaring and cavalry arriving; the monsters continue there gargantuan search. Leaving you free to sprint in the direction you're supposed to, doing your best to keep random outcroppings of rock and foliage between you and the hornets arriving in droves of five.

"Hey Jeremy. The AI didn't react to me icing one of it's guys." You report, leaning against a rock and waiting for a Blok column to freeze and shatter a tree they have deemed suspect.

He hums slightly, "Perhaps by deploying so many force it has less control or influence. Maybe it can't react to all the monster's experience at once so has given them simplistic commands."

You look again at the hornets and see that it's the same few wings coming again and again. "They're patrolling." You realise aloud, "On the ground they're searching... but the bugs are patrolling."

"Huh maybe they're expecting us?" Jeremy says quietly, "Maybe the location I have is a trap and Xana is caught... or-"

> No. He's fine. He probably pissed them off that's all.

As you use the window between a Blok column doing that creepy 90 degree rotation to turn thing to sprint across what looks to be a suspiciously open plane, you speak to Jeremy, "Look check again. Just to see if there's a tower active, because this is weird."

"Honestly Odd, there's no towers active as far as I can see! It'd waste time-"

"Just do it!" You snap.

"It's running, but aside form a few abnormal energy signatures there's nothing." You hear the anger in his voice, "Look you're arriving at where Xana was so why don't you-"

"There's a giant white ball here." Is all you say.

"Okay Odd be serious." Jeremy retorts.

But you are serious, in front of you is some bizarre white sphere, perfect in every imaginable way from smoothness and symettry to the strange luminesence radiating off it. "Jeremy, I'm serious; there is a giant white ball in Xana's last location."

"Okay..." Jeremy slowly says, "Look you have hornets coming that way in a few seconds so we need to do something."

"Look this has something to do with Xana so I'm just going to roll it away to safety." You assert, literally putting your hands on your hips as you declare it.

Walking towards the sphere Jeremy responds, "What! Odd we don't know what it is don-"

As you lay your paw hand on the front of the weird ball, it begins to glow with a brand new intensity, a silvery white aura escaping from the thing as it seemingly ripples away from your hand.

By the time you know that you've fucked up, the thing has already mysteriously hovered closer and encapsulated you within it... A strange blue void of numbers that should make you feel calm.

It only makes you worried you're going to suffocate in some endless chasm.

By your feet, Xana lies absolutely covered in blood and cuts. His digital form huddled and shivering in the torn remains of his hooded cloak. Despite trying to reach him, something about this prison globe stops your body from moving or acting in anyway.

But what's more you feel the inability to move, the tightening of all your muscles every time your brain sends a command to them beyond moving your hands...

"Uhhh" You pause, Okay this is all about Olympus, which means if we're going by Greek names we have Zeus, Ares, Hermes etc. But if we go by Roman naming schemes we'd be dealing with Jupiter, Pluto, Mars. Plus you're dealing with super science, so looking at the names of planets and stars would totally be the right move...

It's a shot in the dark but it's all you got, now how do you-

A small black screen with a white input indicator appears, the little blinking icon turning on an off at second intervals. You wonder where the keyboard is and another screen forms around your hands, this time with the letters of the alphabet sprawled around it in a bizarre order....

It takes a long time compared to typing out an email or IM, but eventually you're set.

"Wait wha-" You begin but are blinded by an intense red light which causes you to cry out in shock and pain.

But you're back on Lyoko, Xana curled up behind your back and groaning weakly.

"ODD! THANK GOD!" Jeremy shouts in your ear causing you to wince yet again. Covering your ears is absolutely useless considering his comm goes to your head.

Keeping the relief out of your voice is difficult, but with a smirk you can't really blame yourself for having you report in."We're back, I have Xana."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEvzFcqKbXw

The tone rapidly takes a turn into the worst,"Good - now run! While you were out of contact a tower came online in the Desert. I'm readying you a teleport but we've got problems!"

You move over to the unconcious form of Xana, setting him up onto your shoulders in a fireman's carry and running away from the cliff to the digital sea. "Okay, so firstly; The monsters are swarming you in massive numbers."

"Great." Doubling down on your speed, you cock a fist so you can hopefully shoot your way through the monsters' lines. If you get far enough inland you can hide until Jeremy gets you out of here.

"Secondly, there's a weird abnormality in the area. I've tried to pin it down but I'm having no luck. Keep your eyes peeled." Jeremy warns and you can feel the tension in his voice as it's pitch creeps ever upwards. Through the forest you can hear the sounds of mechanical legs clanking in unison.

"Finally... the tower has activated all the mahcinery upstairs in the factory and locked me in." He pauses, "Ulrich is going to break in an upstairs window, but without the elevator we can't get to the scanners."

"So it's Xana and I against the digital world." You states simply, "No biggie." The quip sounds less sincere when the fulcrum of all efforts against the AI is still out of commission.

"You've got hornets coming soon from your left - program is at 8%." Jeremy says, "It's your call what you want me to focus on."

"Jeremy, just focus on the AI in the factory. I'll survive here and wake up sleeping beauty." You begin veering off to the right in order to buy yourself some time, keeping as low to the ground as possible. "I got this."

"Good luck Odd." Jeremy simply says, the connection terminating and leaving you with only the sounds of an encoraching army of mechanized evil to keep you company.

There's a clearing up ahead, some kind of ravine to the left, but where you are now denies any clear line of sight from above...

Going up ehad will make it easy to surround you even if it could serve as a chokepoint, the ravine will leave you defenceless from hornets while you slowly navigate down it and standing here will mean limited cover... Time to make a choice on where you'll make a stand.

You drag Xana off to the left and make sure he's as secure as possible on your back as you overlook the ravine. There are a lot of rocks down there which will make for perfect cover, but it's a long way down... and the rocks are pointy...

Each one rises up to meet you like the ragged hungering fangs of a broken demon, but your resolve hardens enough for you to ease yourself over the edge and dig your claws into the digital stone.

With the sound of buzzing growing closer, you now know that the hornets have found where you were, they'll be here soon.

You leap off the cliff face, one arm holding onto both of Xana's wrists as hard as you can whilst cirtual wind and gravity both snatch and pull at your respectively. Honestly virtual skydiiving would make a sick name for an art collection, but right now your feline esque eyes narrow as you try to time your drastic action.

With a shout of exertion you try to thurst your claw back into the cliff face like some primitive brake mechanism as the jagged rocks get closer and closer. Unfortunately, your inexperience in skydiving and physics combine to fuck you over. As you swing your body around to try and stab the rock, Xana's weight adds more momentum than you planned for - shifting your balance and causing your claws to skid off the surface.

Both of you begin spiralling to the ground, from an outsider's pespective you must seem like you're delivering a Russian piledriver to your AI buddy. As the bixarre image crosses your mind, the ground going form down to up to down to up to up to down over and over at a dizzying and astounding rate that makes your head spins just as muchaseverythingelseisrightnow-

You realise Xana can'thandle this kind of impact.

With a snarled curse in your mother tongue you brace yourself, hugging Xana tight to your chest and leaning into the spin; forcing your back to collide with the jagged rock first and sparing your friend's life from your fuckup.

Crack

The impact is sudden and it is visceral. You hear what you think is the sound of bone shattering, chillingly accurate to the time you broke a leg playing football in school. Your vision goes black in some kind of defence mechanism, everything in you expecting pain or paralysis; but in the end nothing comes. You're just wrapped around a jagged rock on the bottom of a ravine holding your friend in a rather intimate way... Despite the ridiculous situation you start laughin hysterically - tears forming in your eyes.

"Glad this is virtual." You admit, cringing as you see two wings of hornets making a pass over the ravine. Xana stirs in your arms and you can feel his muscles begin to test themselves like some kind of slow startup sequence for a human body.

You manage to roll both of you from the rock without any further impacts that would rattle your physical bodies. As you're preparing to shoulder Xana's weight again he surprises you, both arms snapping out and pushing off against the ground before you need to catch him.

Before you can even begin to talk the two of your gaxes shoot toward the sound of buzzing from the North as both wings of hornets have begun sweeping over the rocky landscape.

"Hide." You command Xana, surprising yourself with how quickly he retreats into the shadow of an overhang, utilising his staff as a makeshift crutch.

What the hell happened to him?

By the time he is safe you begin moving away from him in an attempt to find your own alcove, skidding under horizontal plates and ducking between boulders the size of your dorm room in your bid for safety - but alas, on cliff face monsters of all kinds approach.

Bloks and kanklerats emerge from the underbush like the shadows themselves birthed them. This would be a setback, but behind them you hear the footsteps of something titanic and the trees part each time the thudding impact sounds. If this were a movie or the real world; you're sure doves and pigeons would have flown up from the treeeline, but instead the mystery is unasnwered.

All you know is there's something big in those trees and that there is also something glowing blue from within the battallion...

Batallion...

They are acting a lot more organised.

But the recon and intel gathering grinds to a sudden halt as you're discovered by three hornets who have for some reason broken off from their wing.

Without hesitation you turn and fire off a snap shot in the opening firefight, sending one of the hornets reeling. Keeping low, you skid around a stalagmite? stalactite? In order to break sightlines and crawl into the shadow of another boulder.

You only managed to wound one of the trio and they seem to be operating with some basic tactics today. Were it not for the element of surprise you'd probably be back in the scanner.

Plus, they're probably calling for help. Which really makes this firefight a lot more stressful.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire Lyoko Warriors. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over Lyoko? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret master hacker shut in and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can virtualize anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare claws. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the supercomputer and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

Stepping slowly and deliberately you begin working you way around a wide arc to where the Hornets are haphazardly firing off lasers. Were you in your physical body, you're unsure if you'd be able to stop sweating or shaking - but here there's no heartbeat thumping in your ears or any signs of physical terror to distract yu from straining your ears for any sign of blowing your cover.

It is an age before you cover even the littlest ground, though this is most likely your mind playing tricks on you. At first you thought your almost silent cat-like skulk was as loud as an atom bomb due to the crunching of digital gravel... But now with multiple rocks in between you and your starting position , you pop your head up for a peek.

The hornets have fanned out to find you - excellent. With a grin you cock your arm and begin running, adopting an odd mix of hunching and quadrpedal running to keep out of sight - you stalk the monster that weaves between the columns of stone. Soon catching up and keeping abreast of him as you pick your spot to strike.

Odd, Jeremy is not responding.

Xana's voice speaks from somewhere in your mind, which would be unsettling at the best of times never mind when you're hunting the third most deadliest game.

He has a transport program almost ready to run. It is at 80% progress. Something stopped it on his side. I can resume the progress if this is our plan?

Your stealthy pursuit allows you enough cover to get in front of the Hornet's searchroute as it approaches a huge pillar of stone too high to fly over. As it prepares to go around the far side you pounce to the wall and dig in your claws, scaling it with a mix of wall running and leaping to new areas in which to stab your claws like some bizarre purple and yellow squirrel.

As it comes around on the far side, you are above and behind it; "Gotcha." You shout, leaping onto it. As the monster begins rapidly heading towards a crash landing, you cock both arms and fire at least two dozen arrows into it's weakspot; riding the rapidly devirtualizing creature into the dirt smooth as silk.

You roll onto the ground and barely have time to ay, "Yippe Kay Eh motherfucker." Before the sound of buzzing wings draws closer. Maintaining your momentum from the crash with a forward roll, you leap over the nearest bolder and army crawl your way back to Xana.

He sits in an almost meditative pose int he little cave alcove, screens of all colours and sizes surrounding him. "So, you know I'm not psychic right? Even if you plant messages in my head I can't respond."

"Negative. You can reply to any internal communications by simply holding one of your ears and speaking. It is the exact system we use with Jeremy." Xana monotones, his white eyes unfocused and frantic looking as 1s 0s and 80s style text scrolls across the screens.

So focused is the AI he doesn't even move up or notice you forcing your way into the hiding place. "It's good to have you back buddy." You say patting his back, "You scared me there."

"I scared myself." Xana admits, "I never thought I would be thankful to see Lyoko."

With as much of a nod as you can manage in this place, you reply sagely - "Never know whatcha got until it is gone." Honestly cats seem to be able to fit anywhere, why is this so uncomfortable.

Speaking of uncomfortable, your reassuring comment seems to have had the opposite effect, causing him to shift his stance and frown. "I am running the program." Xana announces, "Transporting to Dessert Sector in 3, 2, 1."

As he counts down you can't help but smile; now that he's back online nothing can stop you two.

With the sound of a jet plane taking off Odd and yourself are immersed in the calming blue glow of your towers, the ravine and the invading army being obscured from view and then fading from existense as the programe begins deconstructing you from the forrest sector.

It is a curious feeling, the split second between simply hiding alongisde Odd in the alcove and technically not existing on Lyoko. In the three or so seconds that your friend and yourself spend as nothing but a stream of data being transferred through the supercomputer at staggering speeds, you feel your friend sigh in contentment and almost mirror the gesture yourself.

As much as you hate yourself for it, the thrill of resisting the evil AI and it's minions alongside true companions... It's fun. And if the humans absolutely refuse to do things the easy way - you might as well enjoy their stubborness right?

Both of you land, in the desert and stare down a tower. The pulse of it's activation is so loud and frequent that it is a constant chorus in your mind; an unceasing drumbeat that seems to rattle the nonexistant bones in your nonexistant body.

Not to mention it's literally glowing red.

"So, seems like we're right on the doorstep." Odd observes, putting his hands behind his head and letting out a sgih of relief, "Go win one for the good guys buddy."

As he moves to pat you on the back, you find yourself on edge. "Odd, something's there." Pointing at a seemingly innocuous hill.

"It's a hill."

"It's a monster." You retort summoning your staff just as the hill shudders and rises like some kind of faulty hydraulics lift. Six blue light illuminate under it's hull. A curved shell of armour that had served as perfect camofalugue in the monocolour orange surroundings of this sector. Three thin yet deadly looking legs carry the gigantic monster towards you, the crustacean moving forward with inevitability...

"Wow that's a big crab." Odd whistles. "But we got this, I'll just trade a couple shots with it and we win."

New Ability - Scout
Krab 35/35
Xana 2/18
Odd 15/30

"Negative. That would be a bad trade. It is hardier than you are at full strength." You begin moving closer to Odd spinning your staff slowly so that you can deflect any incoming attacks, no matter which type of laser or elemental beam it emits.

"Wow, so this is probably some kind of boss." Odd thinks rolling his neck and bobbing on his feet like a boxer.

"Uncertain. But it currently has more than double the quantified health that we posess." You pull your hood up, focusing in your vision and making you feel oddly feorcious.

"Wait you can see health bars or something?" Odd asks with a nervous laugh.

Really not the time.

"Odd. On my mark, we charge. I will run under it an get to the tower." You say quietly just in case this thing is capable of hearing.

"Oh so just like The Man in the Iron mask." Odd says shaking his hair out, his cat-ness seems to come and go in bizarre waves.

"I have no idea what that is." You inform him, trying to analyze the strange stillness of the creature as it reaches the position it desires; the constant blue light and unnatural precision of it's claws seeming to directly contradict the shaking effect it has on Lyoko.

"Like the Last Samurai then." Odd offers, chuckling.

"Odd. I am still an Artificial Intelligence." You deadpan with a sigh.

"Oh."

The Krab's shell seems to angle back subtly, moving it's aim slightly above your current position; with a shout you beging sprinting - "MARK!"

Both of you take off immediately, Odd trying to fire off arrows as he runs. You try to keep your focus on the tower on the other side of the Krab, but are unable to stop from glancing as each projectile bounces harmlessly off the shell armour of the creature like paper balls on a tank.

A trio of red lights begin appearing in front of the blue "eye" lights, a small triangle of energy as each one connects with the other in a rapidly building ball of red death.

It strikes.

The smell of burning air and feel of a vacuum on your right side as the gigantic laser passes right by both of you; your reflexes and Odd's unintentional breathing emulation taking your shoulder and his chest out of it's path. The ground explodes and crumbles inwards; the orange ground giving way to the grey void of the digital sea instead of what would logically be a crater.

Both of you hesitate at the staggering power, Odd's mouth is literally agape and you also find yourself stunned. Though thankfully Odd is much quicker to react to the rapidly expanding shadow that is encompassing you; the Catboy throwing his shoulder and hands into your chest in a tackle that sends you flat on your back.

Unarmed combat subroutines activate, making your body roll backwards and allows you to witness Odd being positively crushed and impaled by the Krab's front leg. He doesn't even have time to cry out as the white light of devirtualization begins tearing apart his avatar.

You're already on the move whilst the Krab's sheer force has caused it to tilt forward through the ground, as it tries to reorientate. You're already in the tower - all of your previously desctivated programs and subroutines restoring themselves with the tower's energy. Feeling your body recreate all of it's wounded tissue and replace all the many bumps and scrapes at once is... unnerving.

Wanted us to fight back against the AI, but there ARE monsters outside the factory and chaos could ramp up quick.

"The tower is in the process of deactivation. I'll run Jeremy's time reversal as soon as possible." You say to thin air, looking at the streams of data and feeling the temptation to start hunting down for any clues there.

"Alright, I'm gonna grab a pipe and bash some Kanklerats." Odd answers quickly. You hear a crash in the factory before he hangs up and find yourself working more diligently; forgetting any selfish intentions that crossed your mind.

Immediately after Odd hangs up his phone sends you a message, the standard font of a mobile phone being replaced with the blocky wide font of Lyoko in the same crimson colour that your mystery messages appear in.

Don't deactivate the tower. This is your only warning.

The message appears right before you enter the last stage of deactivation, conscious effort being required to stop your muscle memory from simply completeing the process.

Someone could actually make a Costanza edit of white-haired pretty boy Xana doing the Costanza pose and smirk, while instead of the blue wall and white cross-link fence in the background, there can be raining matrix code or a Lyoko-like background if not one of the sectors.

Something about the message reeks of desperation to you, a sheer long odds attempt at intimidating you into backing down just when you're about to secure a victory.

So you acess the files you downloaded from Jeremy's computer, sifting through the six gigabytes of smug madoka images to find one that so perfectly evokes the right amount of impotent rage that you hope to trigger in your foe.

Smug.gif sent

There is a econd of blessed silence whilst you await on the last screaming procalamtion of a defeated villain, perhaps the assimilation of B movie scripts since your discussion with Odd yesterday colouring your expecations a tad; instead of this however, a cold feeling of dread begins washing over you.

Fine. Give me a moment, it's so hard to take a picture with one hand.

As you begin fearfully considering what on Earth the AI could be plotting, a new window opens up on your side, slightly overlapping the tower deactivation window that stays in the centre of your gaze no matter where you look.

As you drag it closer, you ifnd out that Jeremy has sent you a file.

Only it's an image of Jeremy clearly sent by someone else; were it possible for your blood to run cold it would - could you see red you would see nothing else, instead all you can do is stare with all the detachment of a machine.

Jeremy's head lols at an ankle, unsupported on a crushed and broken neck; the young boy held aloft by a small feminine hand. Sparing yourself from analysing the look on his face or the damage to his skull and body - you instead focus on the hand.

Pink nails, small, female, damaged skin revealing shining chrome underneath. A robot. Just like...

HER

Oh and let me update your program since it seems to be stalling.

Body Count: 42

But-

One warning. It was ignored. They will continue to suffer until you learn we are what is best for them.

Retreating inside yourself you finish the tower deactivation and begin running The Time Reversal program. Unable to bring yourself to close the screen on which That photo stays, Jeremy ismply watches you with a beaten and broken unfocused gaze as you purge the AI from all real world systems and begin preparing to break physics with his genius.

The file is saved away into your archive as a reminder. As evidence that the computer should be shut down with you alongside it, because even if nobody else ever knows.

You'll know.

This is your fault.

The AI must be stopped, even if the Children won't shut you down, you'll never fail again.

Never.

Question: This is your fault.
>>
>>2105794

Xana feels guilty that he didn't stop to consider why the AI was so certain. He never entertained that it wasn't a bluff or a delusions of Grandeur esque, YOU'LL REGRET THIS! CURSES! etc.
>>
>>2105800
Doesn't jeremy need to physically activate the return to the past? Are we mcfugged?
>>
>>2105896

Nah Xana has already ran the program. The code is in the supercomputer. If Xana or J talked them through it, anyone could run it.
>>
>>2106050
So is Jeremy actually 100% permadead, or did the AI put him on the body count list presumptuously, and by the time the RTTP activates Jeremy still has some bare cognition left in his brain enough for the system to consider him "alive" to revive him on the return?

Oh who am I kidding, this is the price we pay for being smug, isn't it?
>>
>>2106395

I'm not in the habit of spoilering. But this quest has a lot less overarching plot compared to Starborn, Cabin, What Came Next, I only have beats I want to hit in Lyoko and the mysteries of the archive planned out.

Re: Jeremy - I'm undecided. I have ideas for RIP Frog Geek and also ideas for Return to the past OP pls Nerf.
>>

>inb4 Return to the Past OP pls nerf
>Evil Aelita gets pissed that Jeremy lived through that to come back
>Jeremy starts getting a hateboner for Aelita after his near-death experience especially since she's also a super-powerful pink-haired bitch like a certain waifu of his
>>
Just wondering if anyone's still here. Is there an archieve for this quest?
Popped onto /qst/, and I love Code Lyoko, so decided to give this place a quick look.
Anyone mind giving a brief rundown of what goes on in here, typically?
