You decide to collect the bounty on the nearby Goblin raiders. You lead your party into the woods in search of the fort. Sure enough you locate them, they haven't spotted you yet but they have a few sentries. If you go any closer they'll probably spot you.

covertly set the fort on fire. It looks like they're in a clearing, so the surrounding foliage won't catch. Collect gold and loot afterwards, submit charred goblin bodies as proof for the bounty.

You decide to smoke 'em out.

Take a porous wad of cloth or fabric, open the bottle of oil, stuff the wad partially into the opening, get it nice and soaked with oil, and then light it on fire. Once it starts, throw the bottle, with the wad still stuffed in the opening, into the center of the wooden fort, and watch as the bottle shatters and the oil splashes everywhere, before quickly catching fire. Reposition to a better vantage point before doing this so that you have a nice, easy trajectory for the oil bottle. Once you're done, quickly leave your vantage point so that the smarter goblins can't shoot you.

Cast a protection spell on him if we have one, beforehand. Alina takes aim at a goblin head. Salaman readies some wizardly shit.

You cast shield on Ulric
Salaman casts Summon Monster I, summoning a scorpion
Alina shoots the one you think is the head goblin for 11 damage
Ulric throws the fire at the fort and the flames start to spread quickly
The goblins briefly try to douse the flames but when it seems ineffective they start panicking and bail out. The one with the helmet shouts out at you, "Dirty rotten Humans! I'll turn you all into mincemeat!"
A total of 6 Goblins emerge from the burning tree house.

Spell casting doesn't have a daily limit or mana, you just need to succeed your roll. Salaman can summon as many monsters as he wants but each summon reduces spell casting by 10*(monsters level) until it vanishes.

The goblins all throw down their weapons.

Salaman: "Good thinking Christof, these Goblins will make fine slaves"
Ulric: "Huh? they're joining us? This doesn't seem very heroic"

(The goblins seem willing to obey you for now, since they're not 'real' party members they have no chance of surviving if their hp hits zero. They may also try and escape or worse betray you if given an opportunity)

Sorry to ask again, but could we get a list of what armor and weapons each party member has equipped?
>>
>>2085724
Ulric has a red shirt and an Iron Sword
Salaman has a blue robe and no weapon
Alina has leather armour and a Leafside Bow
>>
>>2085738

And Christof has Bronze armor and an iron hammer right?
>>
>>2085748
yep
>>
>>2085708

Alright...

I'm voting that we purchase:

> Iron Shield (50 Talons)
> Iron Shield (60 Talons)

One for Christof and one for Ulric. We should also sell all of the weapons and armor we took off the goblins to offset the cost a little. Except the bronze dagger, which we should give to Salaman to give him a close combat option...
>>
>>2085708
Let's get a bronze shield for Ulric, slimes only eat organic matter. Alternatively we could double down on his sword and upgrade him to greatsword. But I'm leaning toward shield.

Alina should probably have a dagger, same with Salaman. In fact we should all have daggers. Unless daggers have a related skill that we all suck at, in which case don't get them.
>>
>>2085774
Alright, I was gonna go for bronze but shields are an investment, I'm down for iron shields.

And yes also sell the things we looted from the goblins, they seemed too small for us to use anyway.

You sell the goblin junk.
"Ah yes, we can melt down these goblin weapons and reforge them into something practical like a kettle"

>goblin bow (3)
>1-handed crossbow (23)
>Bronze Sword (4)
>Bronze Mace (4)
>Goblin Spear (2)
>Goblin Square Shield (4)
>Bronze Dagger (1)

Total: 41 Talons
You now have 264

(Christof is currently wielding a 2-handed weapon, and cannot wield a shield and 2-handed weapon at the same time)
(Your inventory already contains an Iron Round shield that was looted from a skeletal, its statistically identical to the iron shields sold here)

>"Hey Ulric, are you any good with shields?"
"Not really, I mostly just practice with my sword"

>"You should start training with a shield, you're not using your off-hand for anything" (persuade 69%)

Hey OP, would an iron sword be better or worse than a bronze great sword?
>>
>>2085862
Bronze Sword 4-12
Bronze Great Sword 6-18
Iron Sword 8-16

>>2085847

> "Ulric, there are currently two paths of development lain out before you. You could take the great sword and specialize in all out offence, or you could take a shield giving you a balance between offensive and defensive options. Which do you think you would prefer?"

This. he's earned an upgrade but he can decide what he thinks is best for the team.
>>
Wait a fucking minute.

"Um, hmm..."

>"Oh wait 3 paths; think you'd be any good with... a sword in each hand?"

"Yeah! Double the damage, I want to dual wield like Leonardo da Vinci!"
>>
>>2086003

Alright. Duel wielding it is...

> Purchase an iron sword
>>
>>2086003
Must be a different Leonardo da Vinci.

Agreed then, get him a second sword.

We're facing slimes first, do we have a plan for that other than "distract and hope Christoph can kill them all himself?"

(The slimes are resistant to stabbing weapons but hacking and crushing weapons do fine)

You purchase an Iron sword for 50 Talons and give it to Ulric.

You now have 173 Talons

"Hey thanks! Let's hurry up and finish shopping so I can try them out"

If daggers would be any use to Alina or Salaman, we should pick up a couple.
Otherwise, if they could fare just as well without them untrained, then:

You purchase 4 daggers and leave.
You exit Appleby and meet with Alina.
Alina: "Nice sword Ulric, so where are we headed next?"
>"We're completing more monster hunting contracts, our first target is a nearby slime infestation."
Ulric: "And then we're going to fight a mud golem!"
Salaman: "Maybe then we can buy some spells?"

Follow the directions to the slimes. You eventually find a cave entrance covered in tell-tale green goo, this is definitely the slime lair.

Salaman: "We can wait till night time, the slimes will wander out to find 'food', or we could just go in and take them out, they're just slimes"

>"Follow me" enter the slime caves
>"When they come out at night, do they all come out at once?"
>"Let's wait them out and fight at the cave entrance"
>"Let's just cast some basic protection spells and summon some scorps and go in"

I'm ending the session here. Thanks for participating/reading. Next session will be in 6 days and will be another double session. After that i'll return to 1 session a week.

"Waiting around a slime lair doesn't sound too appealing to me and there's no guarantee that they'd all come out, so we'd have to go in anyway.
I say we cast some basic protection spells and summon some scorps and go in.
They are supposed to be deceptively quick, so let's move in cautiously and if they swarm, we'll back out of cave and bottleneck them in the entrance.
We'll send the scorpions in first, followed by Ulric and I, then Alina and Salaman.
Let's get gooey!"

>Salaman: "Maybe then we can buy some spells?"
Damn, we did promise him some spells, didn't we?
We gotta find a good dealer.
I'll read back and figure where to go and maybe ask around for some swanky abjuration mojo.
