As you and Pantea work on 19, the two of you sense a couple arrivals. Seems Bra and Videl have finished up their meeting with Konpei. You try to focus on your work, but the sound of footsteps running to the lab catches your attention. The doors slam open. “Pantea!” Videl shouts out. “I need your help!”

The purple-haired girl seems a little surprised. “E-eh?”

“Come on! No time to lose!” Videl insists.

She looks over at you.

“Lord Konpei has an idea, but I need your help, Pantea.” the girl responds with determination. “Come on, let’s go!”

She raises her arms hesitantly. “I mean, I can help if you need it, but what’s this idea?”

Videl is almost bouncing anxiously. “You remember the Ultra Divine Water, what happened when we drank it?”

“...Yeees?”

“Konpei thinks that there might be something we can do together to get the most out of it. Come on, it’ll take like, 30 minutes!”

Pantea’s torn. She was clearly waiting for this, but she glances at you again, then at 19.

Pantea nods at you. “Thanks, Maple. I’ll let dad know.”

The girl jumps away, running with Videl as Bra approaches, barely avoiding the two of them as she finds you. “Guess she’s going to try that out, huh?”

“I take it they’ll attempt Fusion again?” you ask her, typing away.

“Yeah, Konpei thinks that Pantea’s mind working with Videl might help the both of them unlock something. Something Videl nearly reached on her own, but struggles to comprehend.” she tells you, giving 19 a slightly nervous glance.

She still walks around the android girl. “...Right.”

“So how about you, any closer to Ascending?” you ask, still trying to code up some things for 19.

“A bit. He believes I still have some kind of... mental hangup.” she tells you hesitantly.

“How so?”

Bra crosses her arms, taking a deep sigh. “I have the strength for it. But there’s... I guess some kind of insecurity, deep down, keeping me from really reaching that power. A worry that even after all I’ve been through... it might not be enough.”

“...Did Konpei suggest fusion to you, too?” you ask. “I mean, it might be an option.”

She rubs the back of her neck. “Ah... well, it might work, but he didn’t really think I needed it. Just that I have something I need to overcome.”

“What exactly did he say about it?”

Bra scratches the side of her head. “Anger, furious, righteous anger seemed to be the trigger for Peppa and Gohan. Something snapping, letting go of everything holding them back... just blazing on through. But that’s just a trigger for it. From what little he could get out of it, he seemed to think it was still like the regular Super Saiyan transformation, just ‘digging deeper’ into that kind of strength. Peppa and Gohan reached that power because they needed to, because their father was on death’s door, because...” She stops herself, her face turning from you slightly. “...I don’t know if it will work the same for me.”

Ah. Oh. She WAS there when Vegeta nearly died fighting Ozotto. And yet...

Bra sighs out loudly. “Putting it mildly there, Maple.”

“If you’d rather not talk about it, that’s fine.”

She shakes her head. “No... agh, I guess now’s as good a time as any.”

“You sure?”

“Yes.” she says with certainty. “I guess the issue is that on some level... I know he’s not really ‘my’ dad. I could probably go out there and find one that matches my timeline’s series of events. But I’ve spent the most time with him. I’ve trained with him. I’ve seen how my own f- ...Vegeta could have behaved.”

“Well... he did have you with your Bulma.” Gods that’s still the strangest mental image. Poor Yamcha in that timeline, too.

She seems to bite her lip slightly. “I’ve seen how he behaves around his child in this timeline. It’s... not exactly comforting.”

“Well... he’s doing better than he has been.” you tell her, trying to not make your voice sound too hopeful. Again, trying.

“Yeah... and I guess there’s the big issue. I know he CAN change. I know the potential is in there for him to get better. I see him take steps in the right direction, but... he hasn’t really changed all that much. Even when he shows some pride in me I have this lingering thought that’s he’s doing it for selfish reasons.”

It’s... hard to argue that. “You know, Vegeta failed to get the Ultra Divine Water. Maybe you could help him with that. Show him where his failings are and get him to try to better himself.”

She leans back against the wall near you, heel tapping against the floor as she thinks. “...Maybe.”

“Do you at least think it’s worth a shot?”

“Maybe.” she repeats.

There’s a silence that follows, only the sound of you typing echoing through the lab. “...I’m sorry.”

“No need to apologize. We just need to focus. Need to prepare. He’s just going to be one of many things we need to deal with. Do you have any ideas on how to deal with him?”

“Maybe. As selfish as he might have felt about it... I do believe father is right about surpassing him. Gohan and Peppa might be capable of it themselves. At the same time... such a being is probably lurking around in my timeline, too.”

“You could try finding the first Legendary Super Saiyan or something, see if Baba could find him, ask him about it to see if there’s some way to gain an advantage against him.” you suggest. “Ah... say, in addition to that, any other folks you might want to meet? I know you’ve been focusing a lot on training, but downtime is vital too. Lets you recenter yourself, focus better on what you need to improve next.”

“Mmn. Maybe after that. But yeah... that might not be a bad idea.” she thinks aloud, musing over what you’ve suggested.

“In your timeline you had just the two Artificial Humans, right? And Cell?”

“Yes. The 17 and 18 of my future were... well, I’m glad your Lapis and Lazuli have helped me move past that. See what could happen when Gero gets his way. Heh... you know, there’s something about them that would absolutely infuriate my 17 and 18.” She grins, finally.

“Oh?”

Bra turns her head to you. “Lapis and Lazuli are probably stronger than them now.”

You let out a little laugh. “Really?”

She nods confidently. “With all they’ve learned, they could probably beat mine easily. Gohan came close one time. I managed to do so on my own. But now, even still fully human, I bet they could win. Easily.”

Heh, if Lapis hears that, it’ll go to his head for a week, minimum. “What about Cell?”

“Made from genetic material from all the strongest fighters of my past. Freeza, King Cold, Goku, father, Piccolo, Gohan... Cell was dangerous. I was lucky, I suppose. After I beat 17 and 18, I was able to stop Cell shortly after he awakened. He was furious when he learned what I did. He was confident, though, that he’d be able to drain my power and steal my Time Machine. He was wrong... but, again, I was lucky. If I’d only blasted him to bits, he might have been able to come back, stronger than ever. Some of that Magic you helped me learn gave me an edge against Cell.” Bra places her arms behind her back, looking down. “...If only I others like me were so lucky.”

“Yeah.”

“Still... no other ones besides 17 and 18? No 19? 13, 14, 15?”

She shakes her head. “None that were activated. Gero may have made a 19 and a 20, but only 17 and 18 ended up attacking. I guess I could give the lab a look again when I get home. Can’t say it’s something I’d really look forward to, though.”

“Well, at the very least, you’d get some closure on Gero’s plans. Maybe take what he learned and use it to help your world.” You stop typing for a moment. “Or at the very least, give the things Gero wanted locked to his will a choice.”

Bra looks over at 19, the girl motionless, almost like an oversized doll. She bites her lip again, hesitant to speak, but finally finds the words she wants to say. “You’re really doing this for her, huh?”

You get back to coding. “Because she did everything she could to make a choice when presented with one. Gero’s done his best to keep her from being able to do even that. But still within those confines... she’s made one.”

“17 and 18 killed Gero of their own accord...” Bra mumbles out. “Even they, as monsterous as they were, had free will...”

You look over to her. “...You want to help with 19?”

Bra smiles. “Mom did teach me a bit on computer programming. You know what? Sure.”

“Metal... Cooler.” You’re suddenly finding yourself very glad that Bongo was the one who took control of it. Cooler with something like THAT would be a nightmare. “What was his brother up to, then?”

She’s confused by your question for a moment, then realizes what she said. “Ah... er, it wasn’t my- ...your- ...er, I guess you could call him ‘our’ Trunks. A different one among the Time Patrol.”

“Ah. Ahhhh. Okay.” You recall the photo you saw of Bulma and everyone from Cell’s stolen Time Machine. At least one of him got to live past that.

“Yaaahh... seems like smarts really do run in the family.” A tired voice comments.

“Ah, Bulma! Did you get enough sleep?” you ask. Well, she seems like she just showered, got a fresh change of clothes. But her eyes are kinda heavy, and that cup of coffee in her hand is clearly not the first. “...Did you sleep at all?”

“Slept enough. Yamcha let me know about Pantea.” She looks over at a wall clock. “...Mm. Hope she and Videl are successful.”

“Well, we’ve made a lot of progress on 19.” you say, motioning your hand over to the android girl’s body. “Might be done sooner than we thought, at least for the main focus. Pantea came up with some good ideas herself.”

Bulma walks over to you, trying to hold back another yawn. “You sure you can afford focusing on this so much, Maple?”

Bra nods at you. “Makes sense. Good luck out there. Ah... and if you see Shao and Baozi, um... mind telling them I said hi?”

You giggle. “Sure, Bra. Good luck with this.”

You sense for the two alien visitors, locking on to Tarble’s Ki and teleporting away. He and his wife are indeed at Mifan, talking with Pilaf as you enter. “Yes, we’re still trying to build up funds for another tour- GAH!” the little blue imp jumps at your sudden appearance. “D-don’t do that! I didn’t even hear you come in.”

“Mrs. Maple.” Tarble greets with a respectful bow, his wife doing a little curtsey.

“Hey! How’s it going?” you greet in a slightly Gokuish fashion.

“Well... that monster’s finally gone. Kuriza will be here soon, to discuss the... Dragon Ball situation.” Tarble comments as he lowers his head. “Guess this is the best we can hope for right now.”

“...About that” You hesitantly look over your shoulder as you sense Vegeta nearby. Seems he did go to see his son after all. But he’s sensed you’re here again. “So... Ozotto isn’t the only danger that’s coming. There are two more that’ll be here soon.”

Tarble tries his best to hide his annoyance at the comment. “What... other threats are out there?”

“The phantom of a renouned Tuffle scientist, Dr. Raichi, will be coming to this world soon. My brother and I have spent nearly all our time here on Earth preparing for this inevitability. Remember when I mentioned my aunt going down to Hell to check for Freeza?”

Tarble recalls it, but is still a bit confounded by such a phrase. “Y-yes?”

“Dr. Raichi is the one who might have Freeza under his control. Along with others, like Cooler, King Cold, and perhaps even the spirit of the recently vanquished Super Ozotto.” Gods this is going to be quite a battle... “And that’s not all. There’s another being, enthralled by the sister of the King of Demons, something spoken of in Saiyan legend...”

The doors behind you swing open. “So it’s true. The Legendary Super Saiyan works for that witch now.” Vegeta’s voice echoes across the room. “You saw it, didn’t you?”

You nod slowly at Vegeta, much to Tarble’s shock. Pilaf starts scooting away, wanting not to get involved in any family disputes between the Saiyans. “Broly will be after Goku. That much I know for sure.”

“Tch.” Vegeta grumbles out. “When is he coming?”

“Soon.” you tell him.

“Soon WHEN?” Vegeta repeats, louder.

“...This week.”

Vegeta’s eye twitches, he walks past you and over to Tarble. “Tell me, have YOU been able to transform yet?”

The Saiyan prince glares back at you as Tarble hangs his head. “... ‘Help’ is one way to put it.”

Tarble gulps. Well, baby steps... “You know, Bra’s been training hard, too. She’s getting close to Ascending.”

“Of course she has. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Before either of your brats could bring it out. She just needs the right push to master it.” Vegeta responds. “She will surpass them both. This power is beyond even the Legend’s strength.” he says with confidence.

“R-right...” Well, at least he believes in her. You scoot away from Vegeta and Tarble, the smaller Saiyan almost letting out a whimper at you. Instead, you catch up with Pilaf. “Soooo... what was that about a Tournament?”

“Ah, Tournament! WELL... seeing as you are one of the Mifan Champions, may as well tell you about it. I’ve been trying to get together something down the line, a new Mifan Tournament. Thing is... well, what with Ozotto threatening the world, we’ve hit a bit of a snag. Tien stopping him has helped us a bit, but starting one too soon after... well, THAT... it’s too much, too fast. Plus budget requirements have delayed our initial plan anyway.”

“That’s a shame.” you reply, trying not to pout. “Couldn’t do some sort of team battle thing, or-”

“Ah, I’m not done yet. You see... I’ve gotten in contact with someone. Tien’s victory did catch the eye of a very wealthy individual. Have you heard of a man named... X.S. Cash?”

“Well, with Mifan acting as the first real hub for aliens on Earth, inviting more aliens to the mix could boost tourism. Plus, his son likes Tournaments, so it might be some kind of birthday thing.”

“...Er, is he aware of us and the actual World Martial Arts Tournament? Aliens aren’t exactly strangers to it.”

“Sure, sure, but who could resist having an even bigger, broader one? You know, take advantage of all these visitors.” Pilaf tells you with a wide grin. “Plus he’s personally willing to foot the prize money.”

“How much?”

“One hundred million Zenni.”

If you were drinking water right now you’d spit it out in surprise. “One... HUNDRED million?!”

“One hundred million.” Pilaf affirms.

“Sheesh. His name’s no joke, huh?” What does this guy even do? Was he born into that kind of cash? Bulma’s family... oh, wait, right! “Say, Pilaf... you’re skilled with robots, right?”

“Aheh, weeeell, I don’t mean to brag...” Pilaf starts out, clearly intending to.

“SO. Bulma’s been trying to fix up something made by Gero, help free her from Gero’s programming. You interested in helping with some coding?”

“Gero.” Pilaf grumbles. “You know... I might be. I’ll give them a look later.”

You can sense Kuriza and the Ginyus approaching.

“Well Pilaf, nice chat. Vegeta, be nice to your brother!” you shout out, the Saiyan prince having grabbed Tarble by the tail, dragging him away, refusing to even acknowledge your comment. You wait a bit for Kuriza to land, then focus on him and teleport away.

“So we’ll return this to the lady and- GRAH!” Kuriza jumps back, almost dropping the spherical rock in his hand, the Ginyus behind him readying themselves before realizing it’s you. “Oh. Hello Mrs. Tuffle.” the little alien greets. “I heard that you all took care of the monster.”

“That we did!” you declare, readying a pose. “The heroes of Earth will never let villains like that destroy our precious planet!” Starting off with a classic stance, and then-

“Good, good, so about the wish?” Kuriza interrupts, the Ginyus behind him trying not to pout. Meanwhile, you notice a few camera flashes; some people noticed you here, huh?

You rub the back of your neck. “Ah, right... might have complications to that. Remember my aunt going down to Hell to check on your father?”

“...Oh.”

“That thing I mentioned before has him. And he’s going to be coming here. Soon.”

“Ah, well that’s great!” Kuriza states. “If he’s brought my father back, no need to wish for it.”

“The thing is, he’s under the thrall of the being who brough him back.”

“Who is this being that could bend even Lord Freeza to his whims?” Captain Ginyu asks you suspiciously. “Some kind of powerful devil? Demon?”

“I recall my grandfather mentioning some kind of ancient evil when I was younger... a being who my father should never anger.”

You ready to tell them the truth. “...The last phantom of the Tuffles. The person who abandoned my brother and I on this planet, who we’ve been preparing for ever since we arrived on Earth. Dr. Raichi.”

“Wait, so it’s another Tuffle?” Kuriza asks you.

You look down apologetically. “One driven mad by the genocide of our people. Technically... the proper ‘father’ of my brother and I. He’s beemn building up an army... even your uncle and grandfather are probably under his control.”

Kuriza’s aura seems to glow around him. “Ginyu Force. You will be at high alert for the remainder of our time here. We will greet this Dr. Raichi. And we will free my father from his control, one way or another.” He declares coldly. “Thank you for telling me all this, Mrs. Tuffle.” Kuriza then hands you over the rock. “You can have your Dragon Ball back, for the time being.

The little alien looks up at you. “How do you know that?”

“A being capable of bringing Freeza under his control, and not even stopping there... do you really think you could stop that?”

Kuriza hesitantly shakes his head. “No... none in the PTO could stand against my father. Few could even think of standing against me.”

You cross your arms, giving this some thought. “Well... if you’re going to be staying here, ready to meet them, why not train for it? I know this mountain that could help you get faster pretty quick.” You look over to the Ginyus. “And guys, come on, I bet there could be a plethora of things for you all to work on.”

Captain Ginyu looks down at Kuriza. “Well, sir? What are your orders?”

“...Stick with me. I will take you up on your offer, Mrs. Tuffle.” Kuriza places his arms behind his back. “Now... where might this mountain be?”

Kuriza approaches the pedestal holding the Sacred Crown curiously, the Ginyus behind him. “This... crown thing, it can really make someone go even faster?” the little alien asks, clearly unimpressed.

You surprise him by bolting around them all with the Raio-ken, appearing behind the Sacred Crown. “Proven to do so... if you’re ready for it.”

Kuriza scratches his chin. “...Burter, you pride yourself on your speed.”

“Ah, y-yes, sir.” the tall, blue, snake-like alien replies. “Heh, just as well. Do you wish for me to be the first to try this crown?”

“Go ahead.” Kuriza commands. “You succeed, you get a bonus. And a Space Soda.”

The alien confidently approaches the Sacred Crown, placing it on his head. “Okay, how’s this supposed to work?”

“Simple, really. Dodge the lightning long enough for it to boost your speed.”

“Dodge the what now?”

The clouds overhead start to rumble with thunder. And right behind you, Goku, Chuu Lee, Gohan, and Peppa all teleport in. “Sensed you were here. What’re all these-?” Your former student spots Burter with the Sacred Crown on his head. “...Ah. Er... you sure about this?”

Burter frowns at her. “You doubting my speed, Earthling?”

“No, just-”

The distracted Burter crosses his arms, ready to give her a rant... only to be interrupted by a bolt of lightning striking the crown. The shock leaves him a little stunned, but he’s strong enough that the only thing that got hurt was his pride. Guldo seems to want to hold back laughter. “...Ow.” Burter grumbles out.

You start stomping your feet, then lifting one knee into the air. “The trick to this is twofold. You must be quiet as the sky...” You silently move your right arm upwards, the left pointing to the ground. “...And quick as lightning!” You leap up to on top of the closest pillar, keeping your pose. The other Ginyus clap respectfully.

Burter seems to catch on to your instructions. The next rumble echoes through. This time, he’s prepared. He moves aside, dodging the bolt of lightning that’s drawn to the crown. “Heh, not so tough.”

“Don’t get cocky, Burter.” Captain Ginyu warns. “Show Lord Kuriza the professionalism the Ginyu Force is known for!”

“Yes sir!” Burter barks out. He takes another step, dodging aside. Heh, he even strikes a pose after he dodges.

“So, any questions, Kuriza?” you ask the little alien, hopping down.

He watches as Burter dodges the bolts of lightning. “How does it work, exactly?”

“Within that crown is an enchantment that allows the person who wears it to access superior movement. It better channels their energy to allow them to reach even higher speeds than normal.”

“So why a crown specifically?”

“Well, it’s an ancient artifact from the Earth’s past. Probably from some long dead civilization, like the Nemurians.” you explain.

“Fascinating.” Kuriza mumbles out. “...How long does this take, by the way?”

You place your hands on your hips. “Depends on how long you keep dodging. You need to keep it up long enough for it to bring out this power inside you. Buuuut... from the look of things, Burter’s just about done.”

Right on cue, sparks jolt around Burter’s aura, the final dodge of lightning coming at even greater speed than usual as the crown flies off his head. Burter pats the top of it. “...Huh. Wasn’t expecting that.” He then poses for dramatic effect. “Hah, well, just as natural that such a thing comes from the fastest in the universe!”

Well... you’re not so sure about that. But that claim’s certainly more relevant now. “You’ve done it. Congrats, Burter!”

“Indeed, perfect form!” Ginyu cheers on.

You look over to Goku, Chuu Lee, and the kids. “So, was something up?”

“Yeah, Gohan was curious about the Shine Spark.” Goku tells you. “And Peppa was-” He looks down to your daughter-

...Wait, where’s Peppa? She was just there a second ag-

“Hi!” your daughter’s voice greets behind Kuriza, startling the little alien... upside down, floating in the air slightly.

“GAH! W- oh, you were the one who punched Vegeta.” the boy recalls.

Peppa squints her eyes, moving closer. “...Mom, is he my new brother?”

“Am I your what now?” Kuriza questions in surprise.

Gohan sighs and shakes his head. “Siiiis...”

“And I am most certainly not your brother.” Kuriza clarifies.

Peppa tilts her head, finally floating upright. Gohan shakes his head. “You can’t just ask for a new brother, sis. You’re stuck with me.”

Your daughter looks over at you. “...Mom and dad can though, right?”

Ginyu stands up straight. “Lord Kuriza is not up for adoption. He is a respectable and up-and-coming ruler of the Planet Trade Organization.”

“Ohhhh...” Peppa mumbles out. “Sorry Mr. Kuriza! You were just kinda short, like me!”

Kuriza seems to twitch at that comment. “...Ah, Mrs. Maple, would it be better if I use my true form for this?”

“Still, my true form has far greater power than this state I am currently in. It may make this task even easier.” Kruiza postulates.

“Does it have the bump on your head too?” Peppa questions.

Kuriza seems to twitch again. “...Yes, it has the same horn.”

Peppa smacks her fist against her palm. “Ohhh, that’s what it is!”

“Well, give it a try, Kuriza.” you encourage.

The boy rises into the air slightly, power jolting up. His armor starts to crack and break. His aura surges around him, and in a blinding light, his body cracks and changed. When you’re finally able to see again, Kuriza’s changed. His body is pure white, jewels a brownish tint, figure sleeker but perhaps a smidge taller. The little alien takes the crown and places it on his head.

As you cross your arms, watching the boy, your daughter walks over to you, floating upside down again. “Pst. Pst. Mom.”

“Yes, sweetie?”

Your daughter gives Kuriza a suspicious glance, brows furled and arms crossed. “...Why is he naked?”

Gohan hangs his head, face resting in his palm as it shakes slowly. “Sis. Why.”

“Come to think of it, wasn’t Cooler running around without any clothes too?” Goku asks you. “Eh, guess they just got in the way. I used to be like that. Remember, Maple?”

You hear Chuu Lee trying not to giggle, as your cheeks redden slightly. At least Kuriza is handling the trial well, so far. It’s barely even a challenge for him.

“Eh, you look better this way anyway.” you comment with a sly smile, returning your focus to the young alien. “Gotta wonder why Kuriza wears armor in the first place if it’s so easy to break.”

“Ah, but it’s only proper to wear a uniform signifying one’s importance. Besides, the armor you see was based on the bio-suits of Lord Kuriza’s people. Their elasticity and shape are made to be form-fitting but durable while reminding people who’s in charge.” Captain Ginyu tells you. “Besides, not all soldiers are going to be Elites like us, or truly powerful individuals like Lord Kuriza and his family. It still provides decent protection to the average body’s most vital organs. Regular soldiers need armor like it. Professionals wear it as a symbol of unity, pride, and rank.”

You rub the back of your neck. “Huh. Guess I should have figured there was some significance behind it.”

“Plus, it looks pretty cool.” Guldo comments.

“Can’t argue with that.” Jeice agrees.

“Oh for sure, for sure. Style helps accentuate our posing, you know.” Recoome adds.

You notice Gohan focused intently on Kuriza, watching the other boy as his speed seems to increase. You notice that it’s taking a bit longer for the crown to be removed. Kuriza’s dodging all the same, and it’s almost starting to get hard to keep up. “...Something’s different.” your son comments quietly.

“Hrmn... Kuriza, keep it up. Don’t lose your focus, don’t get overconfident, you should be almost done.” you tell him.

Again and again, he dodges the bolts of lightning, and again and again, his speed picks up. After a few more minutes of this, the crown finally flies off his head. Kuriza leaps over to the Ginyus so quickly you barely register it. Sparks jet from his aura. He’s done it.

“My my... this really is something new.” the boy comments. “I feel like I could cross this planet faster than you can say ‘Vegeta’s a butt.’”

Peppa forces herself not to giggle, covering her mouth. Goku ruffles her hair as Chuu Lee approaches the crown. “That did take longer than usual... huh, perhaps it’s because you did it in this state. Might have taken longer to bring out this boost.”

Kuriza braces himself, grinning wide. He then looks up at... the sky? “Ginyu. Time me.”

“Er, what for, Lord Kuriza?”

“I wanna see how long it takes me to reach this planet’s moon.” His aura flares up, the sparks jolting out of it once more. “Mrs. Tuffle, what was this technique called, again? Ah, wait, no, I recall... RAIO-KEN!”

You have seen Cooler's transformation. Vegeta defeated Freeza, though.

Kuriza might be capable of that, but might require more time and patience for him to truly master it.

Could work on new armor. And Melchior has been using those materials.

Kuriza could end up with a different form. Maybe later down the line he could make it gold.

“Well... at least Gero isn’t under control of it.” you comment.

He looks away. “Yeah, yeah...”

“Diplomacy might be the better option in the long run.” Gohan comments. “Trying to keep up rule through force depends on a strong and vicious leader, but it only lasts as long as that leader’s in power, like you saw with Freeza. If you want a more permanent and stable regime, wouldn’t it help to have people who actually want to work with you?”

Ginyu shrugs. “Kid, we’re no politicians. We’re loyal, but we’re warriors. Mercenaries. We serve because of our duty and our paycheck. You wanna try bringing that up, bring it up with Sorbet.”

“Eh, he’s got a point. Even if you don’t like each other, you could still end up more rivals than anything.” Goku adds. “You know, test each other’s strength.”

Ginyu rubs his chin. “Rivals?”

Goku nods. “Yeah! Even if Kuriza ends up the winner, why not show some good sportsmanship and keep encouraging him to get strong. I bet Kuriza would earn a lot of respect if he can show he wins fights fair and square!”

The purple, horned alien grins. “You know, Saiyan, you’re speaking my language. I can’t make any promises, but I can try my best to get him thinking about that.”

Goku looks down and smiles at you, and you can’t help but smile back. Ah, monkey boy, that really was some good thinking. “Heh. Speaking of... Kuriza really has gotten faster, think he might want to try to race again? Ooh, Burter, how about you! Wanna see how quick you are against Kuriza?”

He hesitates. His pride is clearly leaning towards yes, but the realist in him knows that might not be a match he can win. “...Well, if Lord Kuriza is up for it, I’d be all for it.”

You look towards the green alien. “How about you, Guldo? I recall you were pretty fast too, with that... time... thing you can do? You want to try that with the Sacred Crown?”

The short alien glances over at the crown. “I... will have to pass. Speed is more Burter’s thing.” The tallest of the Ginyus nods down at him. “...Say, is Chiaotzu still around? That little guy helped with my Telekinesis a while back.”

“Back in Mifan, yes.” you tell him. Well, there’s an idea. “Well how about you, Jeice? I bet you could use the Kaio-ken pretty well.”

Chuu Lee smiles and powers down. “It’s a really handy technique. Plenty of us on Earth know it.”

“I might just have to take you up on that.”

You look over to the buffest of the group. “How about you, big guy? Anything you’d like to...” He seems to be playing with his Scouter. “...Recoome?”

Ginyu elbows him in the side, causing him to gasp out. “She’s talking to you. Where’s your professionalism, Recoome?”

“Oh, sorry! Just found out this planet has ballet. Heh, not bad form. Been skimming through channels.” he replies.

Gohan does a double-take. “B-ballet?”

“Oh yeah, I used to practice it all the time before joining the Ginyu Force! It helps significantly in making sure I can strike the perfect pose.”

Your son seems more than a little surprised by that comment, but now Jeice is playing with his Scouter. “Huh... well, maybe they got some sports too. Haven’t really had time to check.”

“Well sure. One of our group, Yamcha, is a pro Baseball player.”

“No foolin’?” Jeice questions. “Hah, I bet he hasn’t faced anything like my Crusher Ball yet.”

“You’d be surprised.” Hah, they were here all this time and they didn’t even realize that? “Well, looks like you guys have some things set out for you all. Hrmn... Lord Kuriza might also benefit from Konpei’s training. Ki control is vital to getting stronger. Maybe he could help out.”

Ah, you sense him coming back too. But before Kuriza lands, Peppa tugs on your leg. “Mom, mom!”

You next get in contact with Yamcha, finding him still training in the Gravity Chamber, and explain the situation with Jeice. He finds it curious, and decides to give it a chance. You finish explaining the same to Chiaotzu about Guldo when Kuriza arrives again, touching down and leaving a small crater. He stands up slowly, giving a stretch. “Well Mrs. Tuffle, I must say, this technique really does wonders. I even did a whole lap around your planet’s moon, just to see how quick it would take.”

“About 12 minutes, sir.” Ginyu notes.

“Only 12? My my, felt a bit longer.”

Peppa approaches Kuriza suspiciously. “...Did you reeeeeaaally go to the moon?”

“Indeed.” He even presents a small rock. “I skipped this across the surface hard enough to send it into orbit and catch it.”

Peppa squints down at the rock. “You held your breath the whole time?”

He looks at her with confusion. “Eh? Oh, no, my race does not need such a thing. We can survive in the vacuum of space.”

She backs away. “Whaaaaaat? But there’s no air in space! All the air in your lungs would be all bwaaaaaf!” She stretches her arms out for emphasis. “Pchoof!” And then waves her hands around simulating... you think an explosion.

Kuriza takes a sidestep away from your daughter. “...No, our lungs do not suffer from such decompression dangers. Again, we can survive in a vacuum.”

“Wooooah... but how does that work? Do you exhale before that? ...Do you poot it out?”

Kuriza’s brow furls as he contemplates tossing the rock in his hand at the girl’s head. You quickly step between them. “Anyway. Kuriza, there might be something else you’ll want to learn while you’re here. It’s how to better manage your energy, and there’s someone I know that could help you a lot.”

“Is that so?” Kuriza questions, lowering his hand with the moon rock in it.

Kuriza looks at you in surprise. “...Eh?”

“Instant Transmission. You guys remember it, right? Picked it up a while back.”

The Ginyus collectively shudder. “Yardrat.”

“Hey, useful skills are useful skills.” you comment. “Ready?”

Everyone gathers around you as you ready to teleport away. You appear at Konpei’s palace... and there’s a certain someone who’s there to greet you. “Ah, Maple, teach, Goku, and... woah, you brought a lot of folks.” an echoing voice states.

The Ginyus all start panting. “I think I saw time itself...” Guldo comments, shuddering. “It’s after me after all those times I stopped it...”

Chuu Lee tilts her head at the girl. “‘Teach?’”

Pandel gives a V-sign. “Hah, have we got a surprise for y-”

“-ou...?” Videl and Pantea comment separately.

“Fusion wore off?” you guess.

“Ah, dang it, now we have to wait an hour...” Pantea grumbles out.

“What’s this surprise?” Chuu Lee asks.

Videl crosses her arms. “We might have gotten to something new. Something stronger. Something I almost reached on my own.”

“No, you have not. But you came close.” Konpei’s voice calls out to them. “You both came very close. One more try and you might reach it.” The elephant man floats towards everyone, looking over Kuriza. “Most interesting. It is nice to finally meet you, little Emperor.”

“Ah... uh, thank you.” he mumbles out.

You let the girls and Chuu Lee talk a bit as you focus in on what Konpei has to tell Kuriza. “Hmn... yes, you have exceptional strength hidden deep within you.”

“I-I do?” Kuriza asks aloud.

Konpei nods. “But you do not seem to really know how to control it readily... tell me, can you even sense my Ki?”

“Sense... how? Like... smell it?”

Peppa giggles as Konpei leans back. “So I can take that as a ‘no’ then. Hrmn... can you change back to your reduced form? The one you arrived here in?”

“Well, of course.” Kuriza states, taking in a deep breath, and then breathing out, an almost... “shell” of Ki surrounding him. When it breaks open, Kuriza is back to normal... sans the armor and... apparently those were underpants. Or something.

“Well, yes, my race creates these forms to hold back our power.” Kuriza notes to Konpei.

“Ah, but you don’t seem to realize that there is more too it. Bring up a sphere of energy.”

“Er... okay?” The little alien does as he’s asked, a purple orb of Ki above his hand.

Konpei studies it curiously. “Yes... yes this makes sense. Kuriza, this form does more than hold back your strength. It hones it. It allows you better regulation and usage of your immense power.”

“What do you mean?”

“When you arrived here, you Ki had a much more raw, rough feeling to it. You could contain it and change it, but you were not as accustomed to using it. But here... you seem to be better capable of using your Ki with greater precision.”

Kuriza is curious. “So... what do you suppose I do about this?”

“Better regulation of your Ki in your true form could allow you easier training in the long run. I have a few things to recommend. First is learning to sense the Ki of others, no longer relying on your Scouter for that. Second, if you are willing, I would like to help you understand the aspects of regulation of energy within your body. I sense that there’s a different node that you utilize when your power is raised.”

“Node?”

“The places within your body where your energy flows through the strongest. Some like the Saiyans have a center in the body that their Ki is channeled through when they transform.” Konpei then looks over to Gohan and Peppa. “And with the right conditions, perhaps draw even more power from it and reach even higher heights. Kuriza, your uncle had a form beyond his true form, did he not?”

Kuriza’s eyes open wide. “Oh... oh! OH! I get what you’re saying now! Wow... Uncle Cooler really went through all this to get that power?”

“Perhaps. Maybe you can reach some higher power as well.”

The little alien is positively giddy now. Heh, seems like this was a good idea after all.

You chuckle slightly, looking over the Ginyus’ reactions. They’re absolutely enthralled. “Captain, I think I understand this perfectly!” Recoome declares. “Hey, Burter, you wanna try with me?”

“Heh, might as well give it a shot.” the tall, blue alien responds.

Konpei takes note of your newfound power, stroking his trunk contemplatively. “Hrmn... you know, I don’t recall any of you learning how to defuse once you fused.”

The time limit to the technique is limited by how long the separate energies can stay pooled together. Drawing out exceptionally high amounts of power may shorten it slightly. Or, depleting your power so completely that there is nothing left for the Fused form to run on.”

“Depleting energy, huh?” you ponder aloud, thinking things over further. Oh. Oh wait, wait... woah. Memories flooding in. Who... exactly do all these thoughts belong to? Huh, there’s your memories of Shadow Maple... yeah, those belong to Maple. But there’s more... quite a lot, really. Man, Maple’s mind is kinda scatterbrained at times. Maybe it’s the ghosts of her people trying to help guide her. ...Does Acer have them too? Wait, wait yeah, he does. Definitely ghosts.

Oh jeeze there’s the Goku memories. Aaaaand the Lapis ones. Hah, Maple did kinda think if things didn’t work out with Goku... woah and there’s Chuu Lee’s old ones with Goku too. Ah to be young again. Huh, what’s this? ...Chuu Lee, were you actually considering it? Eh, well, Keli’s with Melee now.

“Marvelous form! You got it in no time!” Ginyu laughs out. “Haha, but it’s only natural for an elite force like us to manage such a skill so quickly.”

Someone who might be linked with the Kais? Well, interesting. He finally gets to replying to your initial question. “The technique works by merging together your energy into one coherent whole. It is hard for me to find a method to separate it as it is in truth quite an ingenious skill. The synchronized movements and mindsets, the way it works focuses on keeping the two of you together as long as possible. Hrmn... perhaps it is based on a more ancient skill that could only be used for short amounts of time. Or perhaps they had contact with the Namekians or another race some time in the past...”

“Well, Abo and Kado have some kind of similar skill.” Guldo comments. “You know, back when they were still part of the PTO.”

“Whatever happened to those guys, anyway?” Ginyu wonders.

The little green alien shrugs. “Galactic Patrol got them if I remember correctly. Heard they pulled a jailbreak not too long ago.”

“Eh, they’ll show up eventually.” Jeice adds. “Those two were spotlight hogs.”

Heh, she called you that agaaaaawait another memory. Aw... you recall when Peppa almost mistook Chuu Lee for Maple, but... then she realized the height difference. Not THAT short. And hey, this fusion is proof of that, damn it! Gohan didn’t seem to make the same mistake... heh, he’s a pretty astute kid. Was really quick to pick up on things when Maple was training him, a model student, really.

Ah, but little Videl was definitely no slouch. She was always giving her all in training, working hard to impress Chuu Lee, wanting to make her parents proud and show them she could handle herself. Ah, Chuu Lee would worry she would push herself too much. Kept trying to drill in her head how patience can help one succeed. Of course... even if she is the current Champion, Videl learned that her teacher’s not perfect. The Instant Transmission wardrobe malfunction is sure to stick in her mind. Heh, just like Maple when she first learned the Clothes Beam.

Oh, and there’s the memory of the both of you meeting. Wow... it feels like it was ages ago, when Chuu Lee didn’t even know what Ki was. There came the strange, weird, silly girl talking about what sounded like nonsense at the time, offering to train some kid who lived in the woods with her mom... because she saw potential in her. Potential to be something great. You feel this strange, warm sense of pride well up within you. Look at how far everything’s come since then...

Hrmn... though, thinking about it, there could be something else to this. “Lord Konpei... you’ve brought up shortening the time limit, but what about extending it? Might there be a way to conserve Ki and make the fusion last longer.”

A wide grin moves across his face as he’s almost beaming with pride. “Now that is an interesting proposition.”

Guldo scratches his head. “Hey... maybe my Time Freeze could affect it too. It could only be for a short while, but would actually halting time have an effect on the Fusion?”

“It depends on the use of Ki available to it. However... it could be used to ‘effectively’ shorten the time one is fused... or the time it takes for one’s Ki to recover from the fusion, cutting down the recharge time.”

Ooh, now that IS useful. “Hmm... Konpei, if I find a way to extend the fusion, do you think it would take longer to recover from it?”

“A reasonable observation. From the way I’ve seen Pantea and Videl’s Ki flow as they were fused, for every minute spent in it, two are needed to recover.” he summises.

“Hrmn... could be worth the risk, though. What might I do to try and extend my fusion?”

“Begin with meditation. Feel how your Ki flows through your body.” he instructs. “Try to slow down that flow as you meditate.”

Okay, let’s do this. You sit down and take a meditative pose, taking in a deep breath. You try to feel the Ki around your body calmly flow through you as your mind goes back to your thoughts. Hmm... if it’s trying to focus your Ki, perhaps there’s a kind of mental synergy you need on this. One that allows your thoughts to flow more freely. Ah, Chuu Lee was always a real prodigy with Ki, so you have a good starting point.

Wait... wait there you go. You meditate upon the Eightfold Path and the steps Maple has taken along it. You go over each step along the path as you work to manage your Ki, comparing Maple and Chuu Lee’s thoughts... your combined thoughts... on the steps taken along the path. You realize that, while she hasn’t learned it herself... you can definitely understand this. Even fused together, Maple’s mind is working with Chuu Lee’s on comprehending each of the steps. You can use them.

Time seems to slow slightly as you focus. You think about the respective Magics you’ve learned as Maple and Chuu Lee. In this state... yeah, you definitely could combine them. Maple’s Denjin Kamehameha, Chuu Lee’s Shinku Kamehameha, for example, could be combined perfectly into one technique. Ah, but that’s not the only one. You could combine the Fractal Strike with the Shotenken, a freezing, spiraling upercut that draws your foe in closer.

Wait... you’ve got it! It would be a bit rougher, but the Phoenix Tear could work with Chuu Lee’s Healing Aria when it “detonates” at someone. Hmm... but is that enough? What about the Raio-Ten? Combining it with the Kaio-ken has served you well before, but always, that’s been a shorter boost than a prolonged transformation. But... ah, of course. Videl came close to reaching something beyond it. She and Pantea are almost there, together.

You contemplate more on this. Yazai helped Maple build it on the foundation Goku laid out with Super Saiyan... could this power work just the same as the Ascended form? You... you feel a glow...

A jolt brings you back down, you open your eyes and find yourself splitting apart, pushed away. You almost slide across the ground from the repelling force of the fusion coming undone. You... ah, you are Maple again! Woah, lingering brain... scrambling... things. Chuu Lee looks over at you, slightly unsure of what to say, but to her relief, she doesn’t have to say anything. “Thirty five minutes.” Konpei’s voice declares proudly. “I do believe you both succeeded.”

You... you, Maple, once again, stand up and look to your former student. “That was... an experience.”

She giggles slightly. “I... wasn’t quite expecting all that to be lingering in your head. Guess I got to know your mind just a bit better, Maple.”

You place your fist out, tapping it against hers. “Just one more thing that’ll help us when danger comes. Thank you so much.”

Most humanoid beings like Tuffles, Saiyans, Namekians, most Earthlings, have their Chakra nodes arranged in a similar pattern. Some races have certain nodes play more important roles in their physiology; Saiyans for example have large amounts of activity in the Manipura (solar plexus Chakra) and even their Muladhara (root Chakra) has a more prominent role compared to other humanoids, though the same can be said with most tailed humanoids as well.

I've been keeping some actual notes on developments in Dragon Ball Super as my wife and I have been watching the show and reading the manga. Honestly I must admit I feel like I have a different mindset when I watch/read Super, constantly on the lookout for how I can use one thing or another. So far, I can say for certain that there will probably not be "Resurrection: 'F'" arc in this, as things have diverged quite a bit for such a thing to take place, but there could be a different, more original thing with a similar "feel" to it.

A U6 vs. U7 Tournament on the other hand might be possible, but how things go from there could change significantly too. If/when things reach that point, it is entirely possible that you could end up losing the Tournament and Champa could get his wish of U7's Earth. Or the stakes could be completely different.

Beyond that, I have some ideas on something like the Goku Black arc. Do consider, though, that the initial catalyst for it (Future Shin's death) might not happen in say, your Trunks' timeline or Bra's timeline. Further, even in your Gohan's future timeline, Babidi is dead, Towa saved Dabura, and Emperor Baby has decided to keep Shin alive for purely smug, egotistical reasons (that he has even the Supreme Kai under his thumb). If there is a "Goku Black," things could take substantially different turns from what happened in the show and manga.

And lastly, on the Tournament of Power, things could take a few different turns too. Consider that there's a chance, if slim, that Maple and Goku might not even be in it if there's a Tournament. Or, you might be able to convince Zeno to hold it much later on (like say, Age 784 or 785 instead of 780, or even as late as 790), or even have it as a team competition for each universal pair. Hell, it could even be a "Grand Prix of Power".
