You are the TEMPLAR, a holy knight sent to clear the frontier of monsters and heresy!

Everybody. You, Naru, and the bandits, could only stand and stare in awe as the hulking Ozen casually flicked off the brain and gore staining her gauntlet, as if she'd gotten some dust on it rather than crush a man's skull like an egg.

"Hmmmm, I thought the brigands out here would have been tougher." Ozen muses as she turns to the remaining brigands. "Though I suppose it's true when they say hope is merely the prelude to disappointment."

"Well, what are you waiting for?" The bandit leader sputters. "It's just one woman! We still outnumber them!"

"NOPE. I ain't getting mixed up in this." Naru mutters as she scrambles for cover.

"Oh dear..." Ozen chuckles darkly.

As a Templar, it was your duty to assist a fellow battle brother or sister, regardless of the situation. You ready your halberd as Ozen strides confidently towards the bandits, not even bothering to take a defensive stance. So confident that she was.

You almost wonder what you could do to make a difference.

You figure you would defer to the senior warrior and watch her back to make sure none of the bandits flanked her or anything. You had to break out into a sprint to keep pace with her, though. Despite her size, Ozen was terrifyingly fast, closing in on the next two bandits. A single punch with her left completely evaporated a bandit's chest into red mist, while her right hand chopped downward, cleaving the other bandit's arm clean off.

You try to tune out the screams as you move to catch up.

There were five more bandits. You saw two trying to circle around Ozen, but you were already on top things. You body check the closest one, knocking him down to the ground. You swing your halberd around, bringing the hammer end smashing into the back of other bandit with a sickening CRUNCH as his spine shatters. Not forgetting the downed bandit, you quickly flip your halberd around and stab downwards, finishing him off.

Three left.

You see a leg fly past your view and you turn to see Ozen wreaking more havoc while you weren't looking.

One left.

It was the ringleader, who was knocked off his feet and trying but unsuccessfully trying to scramble away, his arms and legs flailing desperately as Ozen advances upon him, her heavy boots thumping on the ground.

"I surrender! I surrender!" The bandit ringleader squeaks. "Mercy! P-please!"

"Oh?" An evil grin slithers its way across Ozen's face. "Asking mercy from a Templar? How naive~."

Ozen continues her advance, blood still dripping from her iron gauntlets.

"This is just so gross..." Naru mutters behind you.

You step forward and wave to get Ozen's attention.

"Hm?" Ozen turns her dark gaze to you. "Ah yes, Havel's messages did mention you were a Templar of few words. What is it you want?"

You point to the bandit leader.

"Ahhh, to question him, yes?" Ozen grins. "I suppose a temporary stay of execution is in order. But please make it quick. It seems the rabble has been roused."

You look to see figures scrambling out of the distant city gate. No doubt the City Guard responding to the signs of battle. You did not have much time.

>FATE POINT GAINED!
>You currently have 2 points!

You stride forward and plant an armored boot on the ringleader's chest, putting on enough pressure to get across the point that his life was on the razor's edge.

"Okay, okay, I'll talk! I'll talk!" The bandit ringleader squeals. "I-I don't know much! But I do know someone's been spreading word about a price on your and your party's heads! That's all I know! Promise!"

"Oh? Then how do you suppose you were supposed to claim this bounty?" Ozen leans in, giving a bit of a helping hand.

"T-there's an abandoned mill a few miles to the south! That was the meeting point!" The bandit stammers.

"Hmmm, that is quiet useful information." Ozen nods. "And you swear this is all you know?"

"Yes!" The bandit nods. "I swear on me mum's soul!"

"Then you have no value to us anymore." Ozen smiles as she raises her boot.

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" A familiar voice barks.

"Oh...?" Ozen turns her head, more curious than surprised.

It was Valentia, storming forward and followed by a small contingent of City Guard.

"What do you intend to do with that man?" She scowls, her gaze focused on Ozen instead of you.

"Administering justice." Ozen replies as if it was the most obvious answer. "These men attacked us and we defended ourselves. It is well within our right to end their lives."

"You're within sight of Eisenwand, which means you will abide by the City laws." Valentia narrows her eyes. "This bandit is clearly no longer a threat, so he must be taken into custody."

"Don't push her!" Naru whispers, trying to signal to Valentia to back off, but she was having none of it.

"Ah, so a little runt of a Paladin thinks she can stand between me and my quarry." Ozen's figure seems to grow three sizes, such was the force of her very presence. "What will you do then? Arrest me? Lecture me to sleep?"

Valentia's hand begins to slide closer and closer to her sword.

You step forward in between Valentia and Ozen and slam the hilt of your halberd into the ground. You glare at both the Paladin and the Marshal and angrily point at the City and the Monastery respectively.

To hammer the point home, you grab the bandit leader by the collar and haul him up. He would be YOUR responsibility, not any of theirs.

"Hmph, at least I know you have some sense of the law." Valentia glowers and crosses her arms, still keeping a wary eye on Ozen.

"Quite bold of you to step in front of superior like that." Ozen chuckles. "I can see why Havel speaks so highly of you. I suppose I should go see him. This was a much larger distraction than I intended..."

And with that, Ozen spins around and marches off to the Monastery, her figure still massive even at a distance.

And that's when Valentia finally breathes, letting out a huge sigh of relief.

"Sol's light, that woman is terrifying." She groans.

"Then why'd you try to pick a goddamn fight with her?!" Naru asks.

"We Paladins have a reputation to uphold." Valentia huffs. "We can't just let Templars like her walk all over us."

"Sounds like a great way to get your head crushed like a melon." Naru grumbles.

"So, what exactly are you going to do with this miscreant?" Valentia points to the bandit in your grip, completely passed out from the tension of the moment.

You point back to the Monastery. He'll be held there for further questioning.

"You sure that women isn't going to just off him while you're not looking?" Valentia raises an eyebrow.

You nod. Ozen was an odd character, but you didn't get the impression that she was a dishonorable one.

"Well, whatever you say." Valentia shakes her head and waves at the City Guard with her to head back.

"So uh, how do you want to handle this?" Naru asks. "I guess I can drag this guy back if you still want to go into the City?"

You take the prisoner and haul him over your shoulder. You were better qualified for this sort of thing.

"Guess I'll drop by the Guild then." Naru nods and then pauses before dashing off. "Yo! Valentia! Wait up! I need an escoooooort!"

You leave the ex-cleric to go bother the Paladin as you head back to the Monastery. Ozen already had a big head start and you've lost sight of her. No doubt her strides were so long she was already at the Monastery.

And that's when you see a cluster of people, garbed in black. At least several dozen of them marching up the road in an organized block, Templar banners and sigils of Sol flung high and fluttering in the wind. Ozen's retinue no doubt, finally catching up with their master.

You stride towards the retinue, but slow your pace when you realize that something was a bit off. All of the people in it looked rather... small. And then that's when it hit you.

The majority of them were all acolytes. Young girls being trained to become full on battle sisters for the order. It wasn't uncommon for full fledged battle sisters to lead contingents of them, but a Marshal personally commanding such a unit...?

The acolytes all pause when they see you, and begin whispering among themselves. Unfortunately, their whispers were not exactly quite or subtle.

"Is that the Silent One that Marshal Havel spoke about?"

"He's even taller than I thought~!"

"I wonder what he looks like under that helmet!"

You had faced many a fearsome beast and vicious opponent, but this was one of the few times that your instincts were screaming at you to run.

I've a feeling that if Morgan were here, they'd start rubbing her ears until she overloaded from headpats, and bellyrubs.

"GET AWAY! THE TEMPLAR IS MIIIIIIIINE!" Nino roars from the top of the Monastery wall.

Oh no.

And you feel that familiar buzz in the air that caused your skin to itch and hair to stand. The telltale signs of the buildup of magical energy. Nino was most certainly casting a spell of some sort.

You wave your arms rapidly as best you could in the mass of acolytes to signal Nino not to cast anything.

"But they're STEALING you!" Nino protests.

"Are you accusing MY acolytes of theft?" Ozen purrs as she suddenly appears right behind NIno.

"Eeep!" She squeaks, dashing away to hide.

"Marshal!" The acoyltes gasp as they all scramble back into marching formation. At least they had some form of discipline.

"First clerics, and now mages." Ozen chuckles as she leaps from the rampart to the ground below, cratering the ground as she lands. "You certainly consort with the strangest people, Templar."

You motion to all the acolytes surrounding you. It seemed that Ozen kept rather odd company herself.

"Hmmmm, well you do have a point there, Templar." Ozen smiles. "So that's most of your companions accounted for. How about that ranger of yours? I haven't seen a peep from her so far..."

You simply shrug and point to the Monastery and to the nearby forest. Morgan came and went as she pleased, and spent just as much time in the wilderness as she did indoors, if not more.

"Ah, a wild spirit. I understand." Ozen nods and turns to her acolytes. "Girls, I've inspected this Monastery and its condition is simply dreadful. We'll need to clean things up."

"Okay!" The acolytes chime as they continue their march.

"And do please try to respect our Templar's personal space." She adds.

"Okay!"

The girls then go to work, coming through the Monastery and generally just cleaning and organizing everything in sight. You quietly deposit the bandit leader into the dungeon, and then wonder what your next course of action should be.

You decide to go find Havel and see what he thinks of Ozen's presence. He's easy enough to find, standing in the great hall watching helplessly as some of Ozen's acolytes start sweeping through the place.

"I know I was always asking for more hands for this castle, but this is not what I was expecting." Havel sighs and notices your presence.

"Ah, Templar. What can I help you with?

You nod to the acolytes, who were still cleaning up the hall, wondering what Havel thought of them.

"Hrm. They're certainly a change of pace, that's for sure." He grumbled.

You then nudge Havel again, pointing to Ozen as she passes by to inspect her girls.

"Ah, you're wondering why she in particular was sent here?" Havel asks.

You nod.

"Well, it's simple. The Marshals wanted a hardliner to help enforce the Order's ideals. Plus Ozen has a particular distaste for Elves, making her the perfect choice."

Finding Morgan was simple enough. All you had to do was look at her favorite spot, up in the highest tower of the Monastery. Making sure nobody was following you, you weave around the acolytes and climb up the tower, where sure enough, you see Morgan perched, her hood down as her ears take in all the new sounds and noise.

"New arrivals, huh?" Morgan asks as you arrive.

You nod.

"Looks like they're being led by a real hardass, though." Morgan continues. "Is she going to be a problem for me. I mean, us?"

You shrug. You honestly don't know. Ozen was very dedicated to her duty, but she also showed a sense of honor. You just didn't have a good sense of her character just yet.

"So I guess I shouldn't be moving around the Monastery much anymore, huh?" Morgan sighs.

You pat Morgan on the head. You'll figure something out.

"Poor Nino, though." Morgan chuckles. "She's got sooooo much more competition now."

Assuming she didn't blow up the whole Monastery in the process.

And from your vantage point, you spy Naru finally returning from the city, no doubt with a Guild quest or two in hand. A perfect little distraction from all this chaos going on at home...

I bet Orzel was one of the mothers whose children were kidnapped by the elves and the Fae during the war and that's her beef with the elves.

Also the acolytes are adorable!
