You invited Nariko the hobo to stay at your apartment for the night, since you forgot to give her any food during the day. After taking a shower she’s looking like a normal human being. Now she seems to want to say something important, and is having a hard time putting her thoughts into words…

“No… I have to say it… I… I…” Nariko holds her head with her eyes closed like many times before, her struggle is almost palpable. She opens her eyes; they are completely white for a second but slowly turn normal. Her voice didn’t come out at all…
“You…?” Amelia is confused.
“Aaah…” Poor Nariko keeps struggling.
“Did you see that, Amelia? Her eyes were white.” You need to confirm it wasn’t an illusion.
“Ah…? What are you talking about?” Amelia is even more confused now. Did she not notice…? Maybe seeing a lot of weird shit today is making you see things now.
“Nariko, are you okay…?” You ask.
“…I can’t remember things. When I think I’m almost there, a white mist blocks my memories… I don’t understand.” She seems ashamed of herself and her problem.
“Don’t sweat it.” Amelia gets closer to you and whispers. “I think she has brain damage…”
“Rude.” You put your hand on Amelia’s face and move her away.
“…I’m sorry.” Nariko is looking depressed.

If she hasn’t been able to remember anything so far, why would right now be any different…? Maybe you can help her.

>Let it go. She’s already stressed and there is no need to rush it.
>Ask her to try to remember anything. Her eyes going blank maybe are not an illusion.
>Ask her questions about what she’s able to remember.
>Try summoning Philonune and see if she reacts in any way.
>Write In.

New Dice Mechanic:

I use the average (the mean) of the 3 best rolls and success will be determined by the difficulty I specify for the action or prompt. If there are less than 3 rolls I’ll do the math with the ones I have.
Above 40 is a success in a normal roll. Above 55 is a success in a hard roll. The hardest rolls I won’t specify because I find it more fun if I don’t.
From now we will roll after the voting is done. If you are too cowardly to roll: Don’t worry, you can vote regardless.

“You don’t need to apologize… Anyway, could you please try to remember anything again?”
“Johnny, you’re stressing her.” Amelia gets closer again and whispers. “We don’t know if she will turn violent…”
You move her away again, straight-faced. “Stop saying those things, you rude nerd.”
“Don’t act like you aren’t thinking it too. I know you!” Amelia pouts angrily.
“Shut it. C’mon Nariko, could you try again please?”
“Yes...” Nariko goes back to her meditating pose. The exact same happens! Her eyes turn white for a second! She stares at you in anguish after the fact.
“See! I told you! Her eyes!” You shout like you just won a bet. Since it's Amelia, you might as well have.
“Johnny… I didn’t see anything.”
“W-what…? Maybe…” You think about it. Amelia is unable to see flames except her own, so maybe this is somehow related to your unique ability…! Hopefully. “Do you remember anything at all, Nariko…? You know, without struggling.”
“You… The lady at the shelter… The blue men... And that’s it.” Nariko looks embarrassed as she goes back to holding her head. She probably misses her beanie.

“Mmmh, so not much at all.” You think you have an idea now. Maybe this is flame related somehow. I mean most things are lately, so why would this one be any exception…? You partially invoke Philonune in front of her.
“Johnny, what are you doing…?!” Amelia says, taken aback. Philonune is just awkwardly staring at everyone in the room, as confused as you are.
“What’s that…?” Nariko sounds afraid. She’s able to see Philonune, but what does it mean!? There's definitely more to this!
“Relax, he won’t hurt you. Were you able to see the flame I was holding…?” You ask the hobo girl as you de-summon your partner. Philonune turns and silently raises an eyebrow at you as you de-summon him.
“Ah…?” She tilts her head with a bemused expression on her face.
“Maybe she doesn’t have my ability either. Must be something else…”
“Something else?” Amelia wonders. “Like what…?”

>“I don’t know. Let’s leave it at that for now. Maybe we should bring her to Athelone or something tomorrow.” Let’s cut this conversation short, you don’t have any more clues.

“I don’t know. Let’s leave it at that for now. Maybe we should bring her to Athelone or something tomorrow.” You tell your sister that was as dying for concrete answers as you were, but you'd never tell her that. She seems disappointed. Even if you keep pushing for clues, you think it will end up fruitless or worse. Nariko doesn’t seem to understand what’s going on. “I think we’re in good track to figure out what’s wrong with you. If you let me, I think we can help you.”
“I want to remember…” Nariko nods, looking less confused and more determined. She wants to get better from whatever her illness is.
After reassuring Nariko everything will be fine without promising it, you think it’s an appropriate time for everyone to sleep. The curfew just began, you’re tired, and there is nothing to talk about right now. Before you do so, you prepare the couch for Nariko to sleep on and inform her about the clothes and whatever is in Uccelli’s box is all hers. She didn’t want to receive it because she felt like she could lose them, but you stressed to her it doesn’t matter – it’s all hers now. She almost cried again from joy. Well, time to sleep! After turning off the lights you hear Amelia’s door being locked from the inside, she doesn’t seem to trust homeless people…

You checked your messages before going to sleep and received only two; one is from Matilda! She wants her part of the deal: to know the truth. You’ll keep it in mind, kind of late to send her a message right now – At school you will probably have to come up with something if you don’t want to be truthful with the money-hungry girl.
The other message is from Osgood! He says to you that 7w157 was delivered successfully… You don’t really care about that kid, so meh… But good job, Osgood.

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning! You hope Nariko is still here! Just now it came to your head the idea of her escaping for no reason. To your satisfaction, she’s still there – dreaming like a noisy homeless baby. She looks rather amusing, like a puppy having a nightmare… except less traumatized.

Well, you have the whole day for yourself! No classes to worry about, and the injuries are a thing of the past now…!

What do you do?

>Take Nariko to the clinic! Maybe bring Amelia along too… Just in case.

Well today’s plan is an easy matter to decide: You want to help Nariko, so let’s take her to the clinic, and Amelia can come along too. And since you’re feeling proactive today, you also want to plan a meeting with Matilda – mainly because you don’t want to find out what happens to the person who’s on her bad side…
You call Matilda and head straight to the point. You invite her over to the clinic where you’re going to explain everything. She sounded delighted in a malevolent way; it was eerie to hear her like that. I mean, you barely know – for all you know that’s how she sounds when she’s happy. Date is scheduled anyway!
After feeding the girls breakfast and explaining to them what you’re going to do the rest of the day, it’s time to get to the clinic…! Outside of it, Matilda was waiting for you. Seems she likes to get places early.

“…?” Matilda seems rather confused by the presence of your sister and Nariko. “I thought you were coming alone.”
“We have business to do inside the clinic. And that business will help my explanation too.”
“Business…? Well now that you’re talking about business…” Matilda hands her business cards to both Amelia and Nariko. “I’m Matilda Spice, nice to meet you two. Now let’s get inside.”
“Uhm...? I’m Nariko… Nice to meet you too.” A polite Nariko says after thinking over the situation. Amelia just stares at Matilda warily. Then Matilda and Nariko walk inside the clinic first.
“Are you sure about this…?” Amelia whispers behind you, she seems somewhat scared of Matilda.
“I can’t hide it from her. She'll find out whether I like it or not.” She looks worried when you tell her this.

The gloomy atmosphere of this medical facility is completely gone; you aren’t able to see any flames hanging on the walls and such anymore. Somehow it left you more scared – as if the absence of any entities implied something worse. You had a small talk with Calamity about what you’re going to do and who the people you’re with are; Matilda gave her card to him. He didn’t seem to mind at all what you’re going to do because you’re visiting Constance in the process.
You enter Constance’s room and find her reading the book you gave her.

“Johnny! Ame…! And… Uhm…” She shyly hides behind her book when she notices the two new visitors. You briefly introduce everyone to Constance. Matilda gave her card to Constance, professional as always… Anyway, all is ready for you to have things rolling.

“Since I’m becoming one of your favorite customers, can you promise your silence on the matter? I promise to keep coming to you for help.” It’s not a false promise after all, and you do have the Gor$ to back that up. Matilda thinks about it for a minute before coming up with an answer:
“It’s true you have been a good customer; I can’t decline. Now tell me.” She’s way too curious to even care about snitching this for money.

With Amelia’s help, you explained everything to Matilda. If this was a TV show this would have been a filler episode! Too bad we’re not here for filler. Because it was inevitable, Nariko heard everything as well; she and Constance were in awe like children watching their favorite Saturday morning cartoons. The always stoic Matilda seems taken by surprise by all of this.

“So these ghost people are the reason I couldn’t move before…?” Matilda is referencing the moment when Twist used her partner to hold her.
“Indeed.”
“…So how do I get one?” What, she wantsin on this?!
“You’re simply chosen for some reason…” Amelia says.
“Some are able, some are not – It’s like a gift. Maybe next selection period they will call for you at night; they were desperate enough to want a loser like me, after all.” You say to the now power-hungry Matilda.
“Shame. If you find a way to grant me one, please, do tell me.” Matilda seriously wants in. Maybe she smells money. I guess most people don't think to use superpowers for money, do they? You haven't. “Now do whatever you came here to do. I want to watch.”
Constance invokes Athelone, who stares at everyone and ponders what’s going on. You quickly fill her in with what you know about Nariko.

“Let me check the patient first. Tell her to do her thing.” Athelone says with not much confidence in her voice. Maybe she’s not going to be of help… Amelia is telling Matilda what Athelone is saying at the back of the room.
“Nariko, please try to remember like yesterday.” You tell hobo girl.
“Ye-yes…”
“Don’t be afraid, I won’t bite.” Athelone jokes. At least, you hope she is.

Same thing as before, white eyes and all. You look at Constance, and she was able to see it too! Both Matilda and Amelia still cannot see it though.

“Mhmm… If my theory is correct, there is nothing I can do.” Athelone says.
“Aaah?!” Amelia gasps like a background character!
“What’s going on?” Matilda asks your sister.
“She can’t help."
“You told me she had unique abilities. This is disappointing.” Matilda, with no greater understanding of the situation, feels disappointed like she was being underpaid for a job. Imagine being you! Athelone glares at Matilda, having heard that. She can’t see her, so why does she care?

“Please explain to us what’s going on?” You ask your business partner.
“With pleasure: Your friend here appears to have lost her connection with her flame.” Athelone says.
“Woah, woah… Woah. She’s a flame user…?”
“Indeed, she’s trying to reach a part of herself that is no longer there. This process wasn’t done by an expert, if it was the work of one of my colleagues – she wouldn’t have lost her memories.” Athelone explains. This still doesn’t make any sense.
“This still doesn’t make any sense.” You say as you think it.
“I’m afraid to say that whoever her partner was, was already trying to take over her consciousness, but since they were separated abruptly before the process concluded… Well, this happened.” She pokes your airhead hobo with her pinky. Nariko quickly hides behind you.

“I can’t turn back to normal…?” A depressed Nariko asks Athelone.
“Define 'normal' my dear… The problem here is whatever memories you had before now, are attached to the cruel being that tried to control you. And whatever is trying to make that connection, is what is making your eyes turn to the color of the flame your body is trying to reach, because it’s all that remains of it inside you. In other words, the parasite you once had was a white flame. A minion of The Creator.” She says that last part normally, but you can feel the distaste from her eyes narrowing.
“Glad she doesn’t have it anymore then. Am I right?” Philonune says cheerfully. He doesn't seem worried at all.

“But I don’t want my mind to go… there! I want to feel normal…” She holds her head like she’s going crazy.
“Calm down, my dear. I can help you with that.” Athelone's creepy smile appears once again!
“Uh…?”
“I can take the little flame from you… But you will have no way to gain your memories back. Are you sure you want this?”
“I… I…” Nariko is stressed. “I want to feel fine again…! Please!” Nariko isn’t thinking this through… You can say that again.

What do you do?

>Let Athelone take whatever is left of Nariko’s partner. This will make it impossible for her to have her memories back, but maybe she will stop acting like a crazy person!

“Woah! Stop! Aren’t we going a bit too fast right now?” You stop this train before it derails! “Ladies, we still have another possible solution here. If we find Nariko’s partner we can force her memories back!”
“Johnny…?” Nariko is surprised.
“Oh my… That on paper is a good solution, but dear Ando. We have no clue about the whereabouts of her flame, do we? And besides, the lady here wants to feel complete – Not to be complete.” Athelone is playing devil’s advocate. Maybe she thinks the task is impossible and we’re delaying the inevitable.
“You’re acting like I have no plan.” You confidently adjust your glasses. Your plan is sitting at the end of the room.

“Johnny is adjusting his glasses! That means he has a great idea!” Amelia explains to Matilda, who in all counts should get it without her explanation. Your dorky sister is acting like a sports commentator and she’s probably embarrassing you in front of Matilda, who doesn’t look into Amelia’s shenanigans.
“And what that may be?” Athelone is happily curious to listen to your idea. Through her creepiness and playful behavior you can feel she doesn’t want to take ‘Nariko’s memories’.
“Guess who’s gonna get a job to help find out what happened to Nariko…” You slowly turn to face Matilda… Then everyone turns their gaze to her. She looks surprised.
“Me…?” The usually sharp Matilda is bewildered.
“Who else can get the job done?” You reply to her.
“And you’re willing to pay…?” Matilda looks serious.
“If you’re willing to do it.” Oh boy… You hope this doesn’t end up being too expensive.
“Then it’s a deal.” She grins briefly.

“H-how much it’s going to cost…?” Amelia asks.
“Not much. Just 100 Gor$ and to promise me you’ll give me one of these creatures if possible.” Matilda extends her hand towards you, hoping to seal the deal. You don’t have 100 Gor$...

>”If you promise to join team… uhm… We don’t have a name yet. But our team in case we found you a partner.” Seal the deal. Amelia will have to contribute too! 50/50! Quite literally in this case…
>”Can you do us a freebie this time...?” Maybe use Constance and Nariko for extra pity points.

You’re not satisfied with this deal, so you decided to cut her a new one! She will take Nariko with her during the day as a sort of memory bloodhound to assist in her search, and you offer her transportation whenever Osgood is available to help investigate. In return we give her 50 Gor$ and will pay for her food whenever we hang out for the next year! You also explain to her how dangerous the relationships with the entities are, and that she should think of them as partners and not as slaves or something. She didn’t like being lectured too much, but hopefully she sleeps on it. Now to the deal…

“Do you have the cash here?” Matilda likes having her payment up front.
“Y-yeah…” You take out your wallet…
“Then it’s a deal.” The cold Matilda takes the money away from you quicker than you expected. Goodbye 50 Gor$. “I’ll begin my investigation right now. You’re coming with me.”
“Ah…?” Nariko just realizes she’s talking about her.
“It’s just for a few hours. I’ll return you to Ando later."
“It’s going to be fine…” You tell to the nervous Nariko who nods back. She begrudgingly accepts, and both of them leave.

After they left, you receive a text message from Matilda. She’s updating you about how her investigation is going… Obviously she hasn’t made any progress. Guess this is her status report...?

“Welp, I need to go too. I have to sell some flowers!” Amelia stands up and leaves after saying goodbye to you two. She promised to bring Constance a present next time. You’re left with the mummy.
“I haven’t finished reading the book you gave me, so if you want to leave I won’t mind…” Constance sounds a bit sad… It is worth mentioning Athelone went back to flame form a while ago.
You just hope Matilda is as capable as she is greedy… Anyway, you're almost broke now, and exams start Monday.

“Well, I’m kind of getting broke. So I’ll work here today, maybe take extra time cleaning here – if you know what I mean.” You wink at her. Constance looks joyful! She’s too much of a cheerful little girl for a mummy.
You went outside the room and asked Calamity for more work to do. The old wrinkled man tells you he needs to sort out some boxes that you will help him move, then do the normal cleaning job. He also mentions a new employee is going to arrive soon, maybe there would be a new hot nurse coming too… One that doesn’t eat souls for a living! You stop fantasizing and aid the lugubrious doctor with the task he requested your help for.

You took small breaks in between good chunks of work to talk to Constance. She talked about the book you gave her – seems to be about an adopted girl finding her family, and the plot was so dull to you whatever Constance was saying seem to not stick in your mind… Shame. At least she liked it. On your final break you asked Constance who Nariko could be, and she said she looks like a highschooler to her… Aside from that, she seems pretty clueless. That makes two.

Your laborious work ended up making you 35 Gor$! You spent all morning here, so it’s past time for lunch. You said goodbye to everyone in the horror house that pretends to be a medical facility, and went back home.

Welp… There are still a lot of things you can do today…! But which one do you want to do?

Procrastination won’t win this time! Let’s open these books and gather that sweet knowledge you have been missing from school… Some may believe this is too late to start worrying, but it isn’t Sunday yet – So it could be a hell of a lot worse! As you prepare to hit those books, you thought it would be reasonable to call Uccelli for some tutoring! She did say she could do it before, hopefully she doesn’t back down.
You made a quick call and she responded quickly, she thought you were in danger for some reason. You explain to her you need some tutoring since exams start Monday and you missed too many classes for you to overcome the odds by yourself, and by doing so you ended up guilt-tripping your teacher to agree to help you! She still feels responsible for the beating from days ago so she’ll come here soon! Way sooner than you expected because she was at her friend’s home!

After eating lunch by yourself you hear the door being knocked… It’s your teacher, Uccelli! She’s carrying a bag and she’s wearing summer clothing while wearing her stupid hat and sunglasses. They don't feel as stupid as they did to you before though. Maybe you're getting used to it?

“Hello Ando. I hope you have everything ready to study.” She closes the door and takes off her sunglasses, all business.
“Hi… You seem like you’re in a hurry.”
“I don’t have all day to help, so let’s get going! I’m helping you with the subjects I know, okay…? No math from me.” Uccelli takes some books out of her bag.
“Aye, aye…” You don’t know what else you expected; Uccelli has always been somewhat unpleasant when she’s in her teacher mode.

Like in her classes, staying awake here is more of a challenge than the subjects being explained here. Her voice is too soothing for you to keep your eyes open, but you fought through it and acted like a good student! It took long, and it was difficult… But you did it. Normally by studying, you should have gained knowledge points, but since you were behind in classes – You didn’t gain anything. But on the bright side, you feel more than prepared to pass most subjects from the exams now. Uccelli seems delighted by your effort and progress, seeing her happy makes you happy – it’s contagious. She checks her watch and says it’s time for her to go…

“Thanks for everything.” You say to your teacher, who’s packing all her things.
“Don’t forget to keep studying; I don’t want your grades to suddenly start falling because of me.”
“Hey in this case, you’re the only reason they are afloat.”
“If you got the time, tomorrow I’ll help you again okay? I only taught you the subjects you didn’t know, so tomorrow we will review everything for you to be completely ready.”
“Uhm… We'll see.” You adjust your glasses.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then, Ando.” It seems it wasn’t a decision after all… With her bad disguise, she leaves the apartment.

You expected more… You’re somewhat dissatisfied. But your study session must continue…! Amelia, Matilda and Nariko should be back anytime soon, and the curfew will begin in a few hours. What do you do?

You need to take your mind out of studying for a second without making it a big distraction. It’s best if you watch the news channel right now… Let’s see what Pokyo Lokyo News has for us in store:

-Tomorrow is the last day of the curfew, and it appears there is no intention from the government to extend this martial law. After the attack to the terrorist main base and the capture of most of its members, it’s barely necessary! The news does make clear that the terrorist group issued one final challenge to the president, and it will be their final attack tomorrow! They also request everyone to stay at home just in case. You don’t think it’s going to change anyone’s behavior, they are practically defeated if you believe the report…

-Politician Elicarto Lloydington seems to be winning the polls for presidency! He’s even beating actual President Don Gordon! You would think the news would mask this fact from everyone, what the hell…? Even the reporters sound nervous. The segment was cut short for some odd reason. Probably someone on the inside?

-Same politician seems to have talked about the terrorist issue and said everything Gordon is telling to the people is a hoax. The interviewer tried to make Lloydington explain his statement, but he left it vague for some reason. Again, the news anchors seem worried to have this on air.

-The cultist group is gathering even more followers! A reporter asked one of them what their religion is all about, and he mentioned something eerily similar to the Great War you’re involved with - just way less detailed, but including that their lord will be successful and the world will be erased! Is this what you think it is…? The one entity that wants to destroy life itself…? Probably.

-The Stadium repairs are done…! That’s unbelievably quick… There is something else going on here, especially since you remember you ditched going there at the last second...

You stopped paying attention when the sports section began... You hear someone knocking on the door, its Matilda and Nariko! The dynamic (?) duo is finally back.
“I’ll send you my report in the morning.” Matilda hands Nariko to you like she’s some kind of box. “I need to leave.” And she does! Bye Matilda.
“Bye Matilda.” You wave at her. She doesn’t seem to notice.
“Johnny…” Nariko seems content, having gone straight to your couch to lie down.
You and Nariko watch TV for a bit together. While doing so, you were brainstorming how to make Philonune’s ability more useful. Maybe you can manipulate incoming light enough for you to only see what you want, even things you cannot see normally…! But before you could pursue the issue, Amelia comes back home!

“Hey, Johnny…! And Nariko too!” Amelia seems to be somewhat happy. She gets closer to you yet again like many times when she said mean things about the amnesiac girl. “Is she going to stay again…? What are you going to do about her?”
Great question… Maybe it needs an answer right now.

>”She will stay until we find the truth about her. That's not a problem is it?”
>”Maybe if she keeps getting better, we can find her a place to stay.”

“Maybe if she keeps getting better, we can find her a place to stay.” You tell Amelia, somewhat convinced of the fact that is just a matter of time.
“Oh… alright, if you say so. I was afraid you were adopting her or something.” Amelia has her doubts, but those are her own. Nariko is already acting like a normal human being! She’s not drooling like a retard anymore…!
“I’m… being a burden?” Nariko finally catches up to your conversation.
“Yeah, somewhat. But once you get better you will compensate us, right?” Amelia has no chill.
“I… will. You’re kind, you deserve it.” Nariko nods slowly.
“Maybe we should feed her something, she’s acting slow again.” Amelia tells you, again, with no chill.
“So-sorry…"

“You’re being ruder lately, you know that?” You push your sister’s forehead with one finger.
“S-sorry! But we told each other we were going to be honest!” Amelia deserves this bullying, come on.
“Don’t panic, it’s just different… That’s all.” It’s not like you don’t like the idea of your sister trying to act more like a person than an NPC.
“Okay, Nariko! Since you must become your own person, you need to find something you enjoy doing… That’s not related to you eating, by the way.” Why is she treating her nicely now? Maybe she wants her out as soon as possible, and that’s why she’s helping…! Your sister is evil. Or just being so helpful she might as well be evil!
“I… what?” Nariko is confused. Her brain cells are not working properly right now.
“It’s for you to get better! Believe me!” Amelia drags Nariko to her room. Yesterday she locked the door, now she opens it for her no problem. Your sister is a weirdo. Then again, technically, so are you.

You’re free to do as you choose. What do you do?

You quickly prepare something for the girls first before leaving, because it’s POKER TIME, boys! You left some sort of fried noodle dish with steak and cashews for them and told them you’re going downstairs to… study for a while with Osgood! Your naïve sister believes it.
Anyway you get to Craig’s apartment and finally knock the door… Obviously Craig opens…!

“It’s you, kid! How is it going? Are you here for…?” Craig grins as he says the last part of his statement.
“You know it.” You adjust your glasses. This feels like some code talk.
“Then come in…” Craig lets you in, the place looks like last time with minor changes in figurines and posters! But mostly the same. “Guess who’s back, boys?!” Craig presents you with grandeur.
“Hey guys.” You say hi to the whole group.

“Good to see you, Johnny.” Osgood is the first one to reply. Maybe today you will find an ally on him…?
“Mr. Ando, I thought you were not going to come back. It’s good to see you. I hope your studies are going well for you to come here.” Mr. Conti says. Maybe he thought he made you feel uncomfortable, you know. Because he’s your teacher and all. But dirty Rob seems ready to play today.
“So losing once wasn’t enough for ya? Just kidding, kid. Welcome back.” Sewel the mechanic says. Now you know your profession for your advantage…! Wait, how the hell is that going to help you?
“So you’re Ando’s son. I was dying to meet you.” A new face is sitting at the table; he looks like an eccentric middle age man. “My name is Martin Helmaer.”
“You can say that again, he’s the bitch your cunt father beat to pieces.” Sewel mocks Martin.
“Ugh…!” He seems hurt by Sewel’s comment.
“C’mon, we don’t have to relive the past!” Craig tries to lift up the atmosphere.
“I mean, it was hilarious.” Osgood smiles just remembering it.

“Shut up, guys. We’re here to play, am I right Johnny?”
“Yeah, let’s do this.” Last time you played to have a fun time, now you’re here to win.
“Same rules as before, kid. Loser pays for the drinks and tonight I’m not feeling generous.” Craig tells to the rest of the table.
“Hey, Craig. Is the fatso coming today…?” Helmaer asks.
“Probably later.” Craig shrugs. “You know the rules, guys…”

Craig starts shuffling the cards… Maybe today you’re feeling more adventurous.

>“I’m not playing for fun either tonight.” Let’s take these bastards down, for dad…! Maybe not for dad, but because you want payback.
>“Maybe we can make this one fun, want to bet real money?” A risky idea…! Maybe too risky.

“I hope we can have a swell evening, gentlemen.” You smile and tell everyone at the table, as you sit between Osgood and Craig. Some of them smirk back at your remark, some of them just give you a pitying look – They must think you aren’t going to last with your non-competitive attitude. What do they know? Last time you endured it until the very end, and you were as relaxed as you are now. How could this be any different?

Anyway, Craig hands everyone their hands and a full set of tokens. This time there are 300 tokens in play. You have 50…

And after 5 quick rounds, you’re left with 12 tokens and last place tied with Helmaer, who seems to be struggling even worse than you are – he’s taking it seriously, but you’re just joking around having a good time. It’s completely different when Craig is playing at his best too; he’s second right now after Mr. Conti.

“So you really came to play today, uh?” A confident Mr. Conti says to your landlord.
“Not to play, to win.” Craig smirks.

“These guys are ruthless…” Martin drops his head on the table in despair, resigned to his fate.
“Stop fooling around. We aren’t falling for your tricks today, Martin.” Osgood shoots back. Maybe Martin is trying to fool everyone into thinking he sucks…! Or maybe he just does, and you’re overthinking it.
“Tricks…? Me…? You must be confusing me with someone else.” Martin replies with a sleazy tone.
“If you don’t want to go out early, I recommend you play seriously, kid.” Sewel says to you. He’s not acting as assholey as last time.

Maybe you should refocus your efforts… (Reminder to not roll yet!)

“You’re right; I need to get on my A-game.” You respond to Sewel as you crack your fingers. Time to get serious!
“Heh… Hope it isn’t too late for you, kid. I like my beer cold by the way.” Sewel grins, and you don't feel ill will from him like last poker session.
“It’s never too late if you know what you’re doing.” Osgood says. He has faith in you! Time to show these old-timers and Osgood the power of youth…!

“Rob, it’s time to show ya what’s good.” Craig smiles as he receives his hand from Martin. It was his turn to deal.
“I thought you were used to losing, since we've played this together for decades now.” Mr. Conti’s banters back.
“Don’t sleep on us now.” Osgood says sarcastically. Looks like he's somewhat cranky when he plays.
“You’re still hanging to your win from weeks ago. When will you learn your place?” Woah Mr. Conti, calm down. Of course these are jokes, right…?

You clean your act together and endure Mr. Conti’s wrath, he’s ditching blows and beating everyone to a pulp… But you’re still here playing with your 26 tokens. The damage has been done… We already have a loser and his name is Osgood. He looks completely deflated next to you… Also Helmaer is about to lose too, he has 2 measly tokens left. Sewel is also in peril, and Craig is no better. It’s just a matter of time before your teacher takes the game.

“So predictable… So weak...” Mr. Conti takes away the remainder of Osgood’s tokens.
“…I swear you’re cheating.” Osgood is at his lowest point. He looks crushed unlike anything you've seen of him before.
“You’re just a mere student of the game. I've already perfected it.” Dirty Rob is no longer a funny name, and it's starting to sound threating now.
“I hate when you get like this.” Sewel wants to make fun of your teacher, but in this situation he can’t, and it falls flat.
“I’m happy I’m not paying for anything.” Martin kisses his tokens.
“You still owe Stan money, you know…” Craig says while he shuffles the deck, shrugging.
“He’s not coming back, right…? Right…?” He stares at you, worried.
“I don’t know if he’s ever going to come back.” You shrug dismissively. No need to care about Dad now.
“Oh right, Mr. Ando. I forgot you were even here… Anything you'd like to say before I finish this?”

“Wanna make this more interesting…?” Your teacher raises an eyebrow. “Willing to bet real money?”
“Hahaha, Mr. Ando. Are you crazy? I don’t want to take your money this easily.” He shushes you with disdain.
“I like the kid’s attitude.” Sewel grins. “Why not? I’ll bet too.”
“Ah…? Are you taking him seriously? You want to waste your money like that?” Dirty Rob seems amused and confused at the same time.
“The winner gets…” Sewel takes his wallet out. “50 Gor$ from each one of us; we’re in the middle of the game so let’s keep using these dirty tokens. Except Osgood, he already lost.”
“Yeah, kick me while I’m down why don't you.” Osgood replies with bitter sarcasm, not even bothering to lift his head off the table.
“Man up, bitch.” Sewel laughs at Osgood.
“So 50 Gor$...? I’m going to end up 200 Gor$ richer tonight.” The arrogant math teacher bets too.
“Let’s go.” You only have 43 Gor$... but you go in anyway! “…Here is my part.”
“Ando, that’s 43.”
“I knew it, your classes are terrible. I feel for you, boy!" Sewel laughs at Conti, then shoots you a thumbs up of sympathy.

“I’ll give you the rest, just kick their asses.” Osgood takes 7 from his pocket and passes it to you, still not lifting himself off the table. He either trusts you, or he’s salty as fuck. Whatever it is, he’s helping!
“Well… Since Osgood is going to buy the drinks anyway...” Craig throws in his 50 too.
“…I’m not stupid, I’m not doing it.” Martin is a coward!
“You’re stupid and stingy, that’s something completely different – You greedy fool.” Sewel mocks Martin again.
“Bah, you wouldn’t do it in my position.” Martin says, not giving a shit.
“If Martin wins, you all have your money back. Okay?” Osgood says, as he gets up and starts counting up the pile of money. “We have 200 Gor$ here. Good luck everyone.” Osgood signals the game to continue! Pray to The Creator you end up in a good position! But wait, The Creator is your enemy, how does that work!?

And the game continues, as for the first time in your life you can feel Lady luck smiling at you! You somehow overcame the odds and started pilling more and more tokens! The first one of the survivors to perish was Sewel, then Martin, and finally Craig. Mr. Conti has merely 75 tokens to your astounding 225. He already went all in for this final hand and showed his pathetic two pairs… You have 3 nines… Time to show your winning hand!

“You won’t forget me after this." You push your glasses up, as you show the winning hand to your weak opponent. You remind him of his biggest mistake: underestimating YOU! Your teacher looks crushed! Taste defeat you dirty c—
“I had this in the bag… What happened…?” Your teacher facepalms as he reminisces of every hand you bested him tonight. You were almost flawless. Betting all your money was a risk that ended up paying off, and you gained some Courage plus 200 Gor$…! You have reached Level 3 Courage!

“This is probably the biggest throw that we've ever witnessed. Good job, Johnny.” Osgood starts clapping and congratulating you.
“Oh man, this is the funniest shit. Good job, kid.” Sewel says as he admires Mr. Conti’s defeated face. Martin is taking pictures of him with his cellphone…
“Ngh…! Mr. Ando, I implore you to come back next week…” Your teacher says with desperate eyes. Looks like he wants revenge already.
“Oh, right. Time’s up guys. That damn curfew is going to start in half an hour.” Craig checks his clock.
“At least it’s the last one.” You reply to Craig as you grab your fortune!
“I guess the fatso isn’t coming.” Helmaer says, as he stops taking photos to look up at the rest of you.
“Yeah, maybe he was busy.” Craig shrugs. “He missed a good one though.”
“You kidding? This shit was great.” Even Helmaer is impressed.
"We should go..." Osgood tells everyone.

And all of you leave Craig’s apartment! Most of them are leaving with Sewel, he’s going to drop them off near their houses. You’re left with Osgood in front of his van.

“If you’re as good at fighting as you are at poker, maybe we have this whole war thing in the bag. I guess Dhrarastra is right, surrendering is never an option.” He laughs as he summons Dhrarastra and they fistbump. You see the deity nod at you, eyes lit up in amusement as he disappears. Then Osgood takes his keys out. Well, that’s it for the night, maybe…?

What do you do?

>Give Osgood his money back. He deserves it.
>Give Osgood his money back plus 50 for his help there!
>Say goodbye and go back home, you’re tired after that intense match.
>Ask him about his girlfriend. Let’s see if Scarlet still has a chance…
>Write In.

“Hey man, I couldn’t have done without your help: Here.” You hand him 57 Gor$. That's his 7, plus a 50.
“Woah, really? I shouldn’t take this… Keep it, Johnny. Knowing your dad, you must be short on money.” Osgood refuses.
“You already paid for the drinks, so why not…? Besides we’re a team, and you bought the van for us.” You insist he take the money.
“Okay, fine, I suppose we’re even. Maybe I can take my girlfriend out with this.” He smiles genuinely, without any sarcasm or cynicism in it.
“Oh hey, how is she like anyway?” Let’s figure out if Scarlet still has a chance.
“She’s a sweetheart. Look…” Osgood takes his phone out and shows you a pic of them together. She looks nice! She has a charm completely different than Scarlet’s, more reserved and put together than your friend. Osgood likes a complete different type of women. Who knew…?
“Woah, she does look like a sweetheart. Congrats.” Well, Scarlet is screwed.
“Haha! Yeah, I’m really lucky. Anyway, I’ll talk to you soon. You know this curfew is a pain.”
“Yeah, I’ll see you later.” You finally part ways with Osgood.

As soon as the van leaves, Craig appears.

“Shit, too late…” He says as he watches the van getting farther away.
“What happened…?”
“Hey, you’re a good candidate too.” Craig takes two tickets out of his pocket.
“Woah, what is this?”
“Some tickets a friend of mine gave me, maybe go with someone your age. I’m too old for amusement parks.” He hands them to you. They're for the "Lunar Light Amusement Park." on the east side of Pokyo Lokyo. Kinda far from your district, but shouldn't take too long to get there.
“Neat, thanks.”
“Maybe you could pay for the drinks next time, haha! Just kidding! I’m going back to my apartment. Night, kid. Good game.” He yawns as he leaves. Welp, it would be rude not to use them – they are for tomorrow.

Anyway, that’s all we have for this week! Thanks for playing!

Sorry for the lackluster sessions, I wasn’t feeling good these days. I had this drawing in the backburner! It’s Constance… Being herself!

Don't worry about us, we can handle a QM needing a break.

>(two weeks later, QM returns to find us begging for him to come back on /qtg/)

Anyway, just remember to take time for yourself sometimes.

Also, how about some Nariko art, possibly in some sort of rich girl dress or a kimono?
