When last we left Gamer Quest, there was a call for a vignette involving the two Alexes and their hangout time in the steakhouse. That call has been answered.

“This is not really how I expected things to go, you know,” Alex says, taking a sip of his beer.

“Well, I would hope not,” you say, doing the same with your whiskey. “Who would expect to turn into some sort of medieval Batman?

“Well, yeah, but I meant...” Alex frowns as he taps a finger on his glass. “When I got... When all this started, I never really gave it any thought, you know? It was just sort of something that happened. I had the armor and everything and I was walking home when I heard a lady scream. My first instinct was to run, but...” he pauses. “I don't know, maybe it was the fact I was walking around in a knight's armor. I suddenly felt ashamed. I felt like I had to help. I ran towards the scream and drew my sword, didn't even know what I was doing. I was just running on instinct, slashing the air and screaming. I barely even saw the thugs I scared off, they must've figured a crazy man with a sword was too much effort for a purse that might've had a few hundred bucks tops. They bolted and the woman started going on and on, all these thank yous. Meanwhile I'm just standing there thinking, 'Jesus, did that just happen?”r.
>>
Alex prods his steak with his fork. “I don't even remember what she said, I sort of staggered home in a daze.”

“I remember going through something similar once,” you say. “I... got into a fight with some pretty bad dudes. I managed to beat them all, but once the adrenaline wore off it was this weird surreal feeling. Like what had just happened actually happened to someone else and I was just watching.”

“I guess that's how it goes,” Alex says, taking a bite of his steak and chewing thoughtfully. “Think we'll ever get used to it?”

“Probably. I mean cops and soldiers do this sort of thing for a living, right? I'm sure it becomes old hat eventually,” you say, carving up your steak and putting some A-1 on the well-done meat.
>>
>>2009894

“I wonder if that's a good thing,” Alex muses, then shakes his head. “Anyway. When I first got my p... my armor, I thought I'd just screw around with it and have fun. But that experience got me thinking that maybe I should do more with it. Like, if I can help and I don't, what's that say about me?” Alex shrugs. “I dunno. I don't even like superhero shit, and now the news is calling me one.”

“What do your folks have to say about this?” you ask. Alex winces.

“They don't know about it, and hopefully they'll never have to know. I'm working on getting my own place now.”

“You should theme it up like a castle and call 'The Keep of Justice' or something,” you suggest with a smirk. Alex rolls his eyes.

“I'm not quite that far gone yet, thank you,” Alex says. “What about you, what made you get into this?”
You pause for a moment and blend truth with fiction.

“I almost got carjacked a few days ago and it pissed me off to think that you can be minding your own business in this city and almost get shot because some asshole thinks he deserves your stuff more than you. Then I saw you on the news and figured, 'Hey, here's someone that's doing something about it,” you smile. “This isn't a calling for me, though. If it was, I'd just join the cops or something.” You look at Alex. “Why didn't you?”

“You think they'd like a police officer run around in full armor?” Alex laughs. “No, no, the way I work... it wouldn't be compatible with any sort of regulation.”

“Well, they'd give you body armor wouldn't they? Don't tell me that suit of yours can stop bullets,” you say, popping a forkful of meat into your mouth.

“It can,” Alex nods dead serious. “It can actually do a lot more than people think.” Alex frowns. “I thought you didn't want to talk shop?”

“Sorry,” you laugh easily. “I guess it's just the elephant in the room. Maybe we should get a few things straightened out just so it's not hanging over our heads. Like, how low key are we looking to keep things?”
>>
>>2009898

“I'd prefer to keep things as quiet as possible,” Alex winces. “...I'm just not that good at it. Then again I guess there's not much I can do about the media running with a story about a modern day knight running around putting the hurt on the local crime syndicate.” Alex takes a drink of his beer. “Though with Giusetelli being dismantled by the police that really takes care of that. I was aiming to eventually take him down myself, but I guess someone beat me to the punch.” Alex scowls. “That asshole ruined countless lives with his goddamn human trafficking ring. I just wish I could've been there to put a dagger through his throat.”

“I thought you got all broke up over killing?” you ask. Alex frowns.

“I'd managed to avoid it until the night we met,” Alex says. “I don't like it... I think it feels wrong. But for a man like Giusetelli, I'd make an exception.” Alex looks up to you, his eyes hardening. “When first started going on patrol, I figured it'd just be thieves and drug dealers. There's a lot worse out there. A lot worse. I've seen stuff I thought was constrained to bad horror movies like Hostel and it's all traced back to that skinny asshole and his Italian buddies.”

“All right, all right,” you say, holding up your hands. “So Giusetelli's down. Now what?”

“I... don't know,” Alex admits. “I guess I'll wait a while for the police to clean up and then see what they miss. Make sure none of his operation sur... is still around in our city.”

“Sounds like you feel pretty strongly about this,” you note.

“I've seen what they do to people,” Alex says, looking very tired all of a sudden. “All I want to do is help make the world a place I won't be ashamed to be a part of. I have no idea how to do that on a grand scale, so I'll just take whatever God puts in my path. If I see someone in need of help, I'll help them. If I see someone hurting people, I'll stop them.” He shrugs. “What else can I do?”

“If I figure that out, you'll be the first to know,” you say, smiling a little. The smile fades. “Though... that begs the question. How are you going to judge who needs to be stopped and who doesn't?”

Alex looks up. “I'm trying to figure that out too. I think... I think it's the people willing to destroy anyone else that we need to worry about. People like Giusetelli and his goons, who'll put a bullet in your head just for looking at them wrong and get away with it. People that act more like monsters. What about you? What do you think?”
>>
>>2009903

You pause, thinking about what you've experienced this far. The jeweler an his coercions, whom you killed in their office. The carjacker who fled from your bullets. The mob boss' minions that you cut down by the score in their own base. Finally, the words come from a game about a world ravaged by nuclear war, the survivors forced to live in old metro tunnels.

“If it's hostile, you kill it. Ranger motto,” you nod firmly.

“Forgive me if I hope things hardly ever come to that,” Alex says, looking back to his steak.

The rest of the dinner is somewhat somber.

>End Vignette<

>Day 21
Tribute: 3/3
Emulation: 1/1

It's currently in the afternoon. You've just completed your magical studies and become a Wild Mage. With a sense of purpose you turn back to the other matter you've been wondering about... the mysterious puzzle box. You're close to solving it, but have been waffling on whether to use your emulation for the day to finish it quickly or just trying to open it normally.

What have you decided?
>>
>>2009911

Use our emulation. Use it already. Save the very last thing for the morning.

Tribute Metro 2033
>>
>>2009911
addd and emulate Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Silver Earring
>>
>>2009911
Instead of that silly puzzle, emulate a hacker and code up our own simple game. Text based, the only item can be consumed to make the user a god. Make it only usable by men, and all game characters female. Then play and tribute that game.
>>
>>2009939
>>2009951
>Added and Emulated: Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Silver Earring.
You nearly complete the puzzle, leaving the very last step until tomorrow.

>Tributed: Metro 2033
Artyom doesn't have much to give, but he manages to send over his old Universal Charger and his old pair of night vision goggles.
>>
>>2009975
You already used your emulation for the day. You know some coding from your job, so you know the basics. Creating a simple text adventure game shouldn't take more than a few hours with your superphone. Did you want to spend the rest of the day attempting this?
>>
>>2009992
Hell yeah, worth a shot

Wonder how smily is gonna shut us down
>>
>>2009992

No, its a bad idea.

Lets just tribute a couple more games and go to bed.
>>
>>2010010
How is it a bad idea to take a few hours and explore the limits of our power?
>>
We waste to much of our day already
>>
>>2010009
>>2010022
You spend the rest of the day coding a simple text adventure where the protagonist easily finds a magic gem that turns him into a god. Upon beating it, you attempt to summon tribute from it...

...only to find that nothing happens. The connection isn't there. There's just... an odd hollow feeling.

Tribute left: 1/3.

You're pretty tired, but you think you can manage a quick tribute before you head to bed.
>>
>>2010062

World of Warcraft
>>
>>2010068
You reach out to your erstwhile avatar in the World of Warcraft, and there a pause before a humble item that has saved the hero many, many times over the course of his adventures appears in your hand.

You now have a Hearthstone that can teleport you back to your warehouse whenever it is used.
>>
>>2010062
The power taps on our love of video games, maybe it didn't work well because not enough love went into the making of the game, or maybe we just need to level up the power
>>
>>2010083
A productive day. You became a mage, learned one of the limits of your power, and got a few handy items. A somewhat of a grind, but overall, a good day.

You collapse into bed with no regrets.

>Day 21 ends.
>All powers refresh.

"...I've got to be reaching SOME of you..."

Muted voices again. You're really starting to hate this dream. It's so... repetitive. At least it's better than the nightmares.

"...a hundred days! Don't you get it? A hundred days!!!"

>Day 22 begin.

You wake up with a sigh and let the echoes of the dream fall from your mind. Mornings haven't changed much for you since all this started. A bowl of cereal. A shower. Running a comb through your hair. It's a routine that brings you some amount of comfort with all the other changes happening.

Another day opens before you. What will you do?

>Updating paused. Will return in 3 hours.<
>>
>>2010140

Gear up, finish solving the puzzle.

We should be wearing our growth egg, our troll ring, our shield, our scouter, our serenity ring and carrying our black blade strapped to our back, with REC gun in hand.

There, that should be good gear up, we've even got a good non-lethal option.
>>
i'd also carry the twin guns we got from time splitters 2 as well
>>
>>2010062
Dang. Oh well, worth a shot

>>2010140
Time to finish that puzzle! Oh, and tribute Pandemic 2 in case we ever need to hold the world hostage. Well, the world minus Madagascar.
>>
>>2010206

We only have so many hands, anon. If we really need a gun, we can tribute one up.
>>
>>2009911
Has no one realized that the puzzle box is from Hell Raiser?
>>
>>2010164
>>2010262
You bring up the puzzle box and prepare to solve it...

>>2010568
...but at the back your mind, you feel a twinge of caution. You've never been one for movies, but you vaguely recall a similar situation where opening a puzzle box was a very bad move.

Still, the time has come to make a choice. Open the box or not?
>>
>>2010568

I don't know hellraiser. Can we handle whatever that is?
>>
>>2010693

I doubt it in our current position but fuck the police! I'll solve the puzzle, Pat!
>>
>>2010693
probably same thing that killed the rocker. Ask the skull about it.
>>
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemarchand%27s_box
>>
>>2010702
>>2010677

Supporting.
>>
>>2010702
"As I said before, the box appears to contain some sort of portal magic that activates when the puzzle is solved. It creates a short-lived two way bridge between this world and another, calling beings to it. I am not familiar with the plane it is attuned to."

>>2010699
One vote for. Any opposed?
>>
>>2010262
You tribute Pandemic 2...
...and nothing seems to happen. Oh well.
>>
>>2010262
Wait what? Are you insane? Asking tribute from a constantly evolving virus/parasite/prion that exists only to kill off the entirety of humanity with the exception of madagascar?

What did you expect to receive?

>>2010757
I am against.

Tribute Super Castlevania IV
>>
>>2010761
Ask the skull if it detected anything coming through when we tributed Pandemic.
>>
>>2010780
A rosary appears in your hands after you request aid from the famous Vampire Killer, Simon Belmont.

One vote for and against, what are we doing with that puzzle?
>>
>>2010814
"I did. It appeared to be naught but a gust of air, though."
>>
>>2010757
opposed, just solve it till the last step

>>2010761
when anon goes full retard, I wonder if we will get super AIDS.
>>
>>2010848
It's been solved at the last step for a while.

If you're not going to open it, what else are you doing today?
>>
>>2011005
Cardio and pop the magic tab

add trauma center under the knife.
we are gonna have to tribute some magic medicine shit to counter the plague thing if thats what we brought into the world.
>>
add quarantine, touhou 7 and doctor mario.
If hellraiser wins then take the lightsaber as well
>>
>>2011005

Do NOT pop the magic tab. It has value in possibly giving magic to someone else.

Investigate online to see if we can start finding more about the power sightings that have been happening.

See if there are any articles about the Giusetelli arrests.
>>
fuck someone else, unless you're giving it to our cats after we shape them
>>
>>2011109

Fuck eating it ourselves. We HAVE magic now, it'll barely do anything.

On the flip side of things, it is EXTREMELY valuable for anyone without magic. We could sell it, use it on a love interest, study it or even become a mini smiling man and just dump it on some random nobody.

Using it on ourselves is the LAST thing we should be doing.
>>
>>2011018
Games added.

You run your usual routine of cardio exercises...

>>2011094
Then start browsing the local news. There are tons of articles on the Giusetelli arrests. The whole scandal has apparently started a chain reaction of arrests, accusations, and general mayhem as more and more cops, politicians, and local people of note are being found to have been in his pocket. Central figures in the arrests have been an Officer Bowlens and an Officer Gault, who are the new rising stars in the department thanks to this.

The United States has deployed a group of its best scientists alongside a brigade of regular Army to the Canadian town of Harmont in cooperation with the Canadian government. There is increasing concern over the incident as both rumors of impossible things happening within the cordon coincide with rumors of impossible things happening with artifacts brought back from within the town in labs.

The United States has released the first pictures of the three meter tall chrome giants that attacked North Korea to the public. Within hours of this happening, several circles noted the striking similarity between the giant's appearance and a being from a series of science fiction novels known as "the Shrike". No one is quite sure what to make of this, though it has been suggested the creator of the things might be a literature fan with a sick sense of humor.

NASA reports detecting several objects in orbit around Earth's moon. Early speculation is that they are fragments of a comet that passed by, caught by the Moon's weak gravitational field in an astoundingly unlikely astronomical event.
>>
>>2011167

Can our super phone help parse search results in looking for more information on the north korean crisis?
>>
>>2011191
Sure. Looking for anything in particular?
>>
>>2011200
Look for weird incidents happening at NK just before the 3 meter chrome giants appeared. Also look at how they got into the country. Did they appear just from thin air?
>>
>>2011200
>>2011167

See if we can find the first place the giants were spotted.

See if we can get a court date for when all of the Giusetelli events are going down.
>>
>>2011273
All accounts have them just appearing from thin air. There are no incidents in North Korea prior to that.

>>2011291
The giants appeared everywhere at once in North Korea.

The court date for Giusetelli has been set for two weeks from now.
>>
we should fly down to that town and loot it for what its worth.
>>
>>2011323

I'm all for this. How are we going to get there though?
>>
>>2011323
Sure beats sitting on our asses. Let's book a flight to Canada.
>>
>>2011415
It's only in Canada, getting to a town near the Cordon is easy enough. You'd have to sneak past the barrier once there, though.

More than a few people are making the trip for similar reasons as you according to the news.
>>
we rich as fuck, charter a private plane.
We'll need to shape a servant to guard our home and warehouse while the dragon guards the other. Set the turret to recognize them as friendly as well. leave food for them and such so we don't come home to a burned building.
>>
>>2011437
>>2011433

Lets do it then.
>>
>>2011437
OK.
What sort of servant do you want to create, human-like, humanoid, just mutate one of your lizards, or something else?

It's going to take the day to shape and mold new life if you expect it to last. Aside from making your servant, do you want to use your tributes?
>>
>>2011437
Let's create a catgirl meido to fulfill our degenerate fantasies.

Kidding, a human-like servant so he/she/it can tell visitors to fuck off and also take care of our house. I also want to tribute Doctor Mario. We might have a plague on our hands.

It takes the day, but you manage to summon and shape into existence a short, bald, hunchbacked man with bulging eyes. He's got a friendly smile at least. This homunculus can pass for human, but is only as strong and smart as an ordinary man. You've managed to ingrain a deep sense of loyalty into him... unfortunately this has resulted in a questionable habit of responding to commands with a simpering "Yes, master," which might be off-putting if you ever have company.

Tributes left: 0/3.

>>2011437
With not much else to do, you look into chartering a private plane. It'll be expensive as hell, but you can fly to Toronto easily enough, then hire a driver to the nearest town, a place called Almington. You just need to set a departure date, as well as any preparations.
>>
>>2011754
Almost forgot to put this up:

UPDATED PASTEBIN: https://pastebin.com/AuxYTqWs
>>
>>2011782

Equip the Ancestor's Grace.

Fuck, so many things to keep track of.

Equip the Krona symbol.

Have our skull check out our rosary, see what it might be capable of.

Use Scroll of Recharging on Fictorum Staff.

Use Scroll of Enchant Weapon on lightsaber

Use Scroll of Enchant Armor on Borderlands shield

Use Scroll of Brand Weapon on Lightsaber
>>
>>2011782
Fallout 3 wasn't tributed? You didn't add elona+ as well.

>>2011754
Lets set the date for departure two days from now. We will bring the all magic jewelry, potions, scrolls, a few days worth of rations and water. Bring our lightsaber and our modified pistol as well. Also get face mask that hides our identity.

>>2011901
>Use Scroll of Recharging on Fictorum Staff.
For what purpose.

>Use Scroll of Brand Weapon on Lightsaber
I gonna have to veto this.
>>
>>2011925

>For what purpose

To improve its ability to generate mana and raise the level of boost it provides to spells.

>I gonna have to veto this

For what purpose?

I should think a Lightsaber is a plenty powerful enough weapon for us to start throwing buffs at it.
>>
>>2011925
Fallout 3 was tributed, must've missed it and Elona, I'll fix that now.

What will you do in the meantime? You've got a day once you go to bed.
>>
2 days seems like a good number.
A mask of some sort is also a good idea. could just go with a motercycle helmet as well.

One buff on the lightsaber should be enough though.
Also, we can just shove everything into the bag of holding cant we ?
>>
>>2011954
I feel that the lightsaber doesn't need a brand as it is already super deadly and doesn't need it to kill.
>>
>>2011976
We should use it on a ranged weapon like our pistol.

>>2011993
If we were to go for a ranged weapon, pistol would be a poor choice. We have a laser rifle.

Always spend your buffs on your best weapons,
>>
>>2012025
The laser rifle ammunition might be a problem though because we can't get more of it easily.
>>
Maybe we can charge it with the metro solar charger?
add starwars battlefront 2, the old one.
We could get laser weapons with charging ammo.
>>

Our universal charger from metro might work with with the MFC ammo
>>

dang it, didn't see your post
>>

What tributes?

I'm out of time for today, so when I get back tomorrow at the usual time, I'd like to knock all the prepwork out and get us to Harmont ASAP.
>>
>>2012124
Can we use the charger from metro to change the MFC ammo?
>>
>>2012237
My first thought was yes, but after some thought and cursory research, no... It takes far more power to generate a coherent cutting laser than to charge NVGs. I applaud the creativity though.
>>
>Day 24 begins

The plane ride to Toronto is thankfully short. Even though the jet you chartered spares no luxury, there's an unsettling feeling in the pit of your stomach that just won't go away. You haven't slept well the last two days. The dreams are gone, but you can't shake a feeling of weakness and vague nausea. Perhaps a change of scenery will help. Perhaps getting out and DOING something will help.

You deplane at Pearson International Airport and immediately make a beeline through customs to the car you hired. No limo, just a normal car with a normal Uber driver. You've got to keep things low-key. The driver helps you load your luggage into the car, a big trunk loaded with all your gear that wasn't stuffed into your bag of holding to avoid detection by customs.

You've left your holdings in the care of Igor and the dragon. Hopefully you won't return to a burnt out cinder.

With everything loaded, you jump into the car and nod to the driver to start the long drive to Almington, the last town before Harmont.

>Next post brings us to Almington, so this is your chance for last minute prep.
>>
...and now we're going somewhere. I'm requesting that the scouter go and actually be USED a few times during this flight.

Since you guys wanna be his butt buddy, let's take the other Alex along. Not like we can't afford it. This however will be interesting just to see his tributes for a day.

This place is going to be the fucking wild west. Plan accordingly good anons! Remember there's people at least 100 days in.
>>
I'd rather not bring alex, we're likely going to be flashy and show our shit off. can't really keep a secret if hes right there next to us when we start making weapons appear out of the air.

Shit, how about we just finince alex a bit instead of going out and paroling with him?
that could be our way of helping him
>>
I think feeling of weakness and nausea is due to the disease from Pandemic 2. We should scouter the pill from Doctor Mario and see if it will cure sickness then pop it if it will.
>>
>>2014205

Um. I do not think you are following the narrative too closely. We've already seen him in all his glory. He showed us his now its our turn
>>
>>2014185

Don't bring Alex. This is a looting mission, not a JUSTICE trek.

>>2014205
Finance Alex sounds like not a bad plan. Depending on how we spin how we got our wealth

>>2014209
>>2014147

Pop that pill.
>>
>>2014147
Oh yeah, did we use day 23 tribute and emulation?
>>
Whatthefuckever. Why go to dinner with a guy and not get to use him as a meat shield?

>Anyways Trib Dino Crisis 3
>>
>>2014147
Lets get some small animals and to make living tools also a map of Harmont.

>>2014272
We should do this tribute when we are out of the car and not being observed.
>>
>>2014236
>>2014209
Let's all have a round of applause for the two anons that prevented your untimely death in two more days of game-time.

After a particularly nasty coughing fit in the car, you pull out the pill and the Scouter while the driver is occupied by the road.

The Scouter identifies the pill as a potent medicine that seems to attack all disease in a body at once through some unknown mechanism.

You pop the pill and immediately feel well again, the feelings of sickness vanishing.

Hopefully it wasn't contagious. You did just walk through an airport.

You seem to have decided not to bring Alex along. On one hand, his presence in your city somewhat increases the general safety of your things, as he will be keeping the pressure on Giusetelli's operation. On the other hand, it would've been useful to have another pair of hands out here. Ah well.

It's a four hour drive to the town, so you let your eyes drift close and let sleep help the magic of Dr. Mario cleanse your body.

"Eh, buddy, we're here," the driver says, waking you up. You blink groggily and look out the window. Almington is a small town, but it's got the standard amenities of any North American town in this day and age... plus a growing shanty town on the town outskirts that probably has something to do with the increasing number of "tourists" here to "see the fall leaves", and certainly nothing to do with treasure hunters waiting for their shot to pass the cordon around Harmont and loot the SHIT out of that abandoned town.

The large amount of refugees from Harmont and its environs might also have something to do with it.

"Hey guy, where am I dropping you off?" your driver asks.

The obvious option is the town's sole hotel, a Holiday Inn previously used mainly for business people passing through to more important places. There's an excellent chance it might be packed, though.

The less obvious option is the shanty town if you want to get a leg up on the shadier side of things here. It seems to be the center of commerce for the wanna-be STALKERs getting ready to go into Harmont.

And of course there's whatever your minds can dream up.

So what'll it be?
>>
>>2014318

Holiday Inn. Otherwise you want to take all our shit and trust it around a bunch of looters?
>>
>>2014309
How are you getting small animals?

Against all odds, you manage to find a house for rent in the town, fully furnished, equipped, at a reasonable rate, ready to move into immediately, and without the myriad complications that might've happened if luck was against you.

It's a one story, six room house with a full basement and a garage. Honestly, it's way better than your old apartment, more than adequate as a temporary hideout during your excursion. You immediately begin setting up shop once the papers are in place and the driver drops you off.

You have your home base. Now what?

You prove this concretely by posting Doompaul and reminding everyone that this was the future they chose. Further references to Ebola-chan and "Super AIDS" result in many instances of you being called a "meme-loving fuckboy."

Ah, it's like coming home. And seven proxies? There's no WAY this will come back to bite you in the ass.

But you didn't come here to shitpost, did you? What now?
>>
>>2014464
lets go to the shanty part of town to talk to those wannabe stalkers.
>>
>>2014473
What do you want to ask them?
>>
>>2014473
Ask them what it like inside the zone and how do they pass though the cordon when the military is everywhere. Also where the best part to loot.
>>
>>2014480
just feel them out, see what stories they have about people who made it out or where they've gotten stopped.
>>
>>2014488
You get a mess of conflicting stories from a crowd that ranges from a grizzled ex-military looking fellow, to some fat guy with a big backpack and a pistol halfheartedly hidden in a fanny pack. They all agree on one thing, though.

Harmont is now extremely dangerous.

There's spots in the town that spontaneously light on fire when you step on them. There are areas covered in a strange slime that cause bones to slowly dissolve on contact. Not flesh, just the bones of anything they touch. There's wavy areas that crush everything within them like a trash compactor. There's areas draped in near-invisible threads that slice anything passing through.

But there is bounty there, too. Strange items that look like pulsing glass bubbles, orbs of living electricity, thorn cubes constantly moving by themselves, and more. Some of them generate sonic shrieks, some of them seem to generate a low but endless supply of electricity, some are claimed to heal wounds, or cure disease... and there is one that no one knows what it does.

There is a spreading rumor that deep in Harmont is a golden sphere, huge and perfect. And no one knows what it does. Many people are attempting to reach this item simply because it's said to be pure gold and twice the size of a basketball. That's a lot of gold to people not swimming in wealth.

Passing through the cordon is a matter of luck, mostly. The soldiers patrol vigilantly, but can't be everywhere at once, and it's been slipped that whatever happened to Harmont prevents satellite and high altitude aerial photography.

The military is operating blind.

That being said, there are two popular spots to sneak in, an area called the "Briar Patch", and the old Victoria Bridge. The Briar Patch is an outgrowth of giant thorns that used to be someone's hedgemaze before it was mutated. The soldiers don't patrol it because it's full of hazards. They DO patrol the Bridge, but the collapsed bridge and river provide a lot of cover and ways to avoid patrols if they get close.

This early, everywhere is the best place to loot. No place of the town has been drained dry yet.
>>
>>2014506
You switch tactics and ask them a bit about people who got stopped or made it out.

There are quite a few stories of people getting caught by the military, be they the Canadian Grenadiers or the US Army. General consensus is that you want to get caught by the Americans if you do... the chances are better of finding a soldier who doesn't care about a Canadian town and would be open to a bribe.

There are scattered tales of people being captured either being tried and sentenced fairly, taken away to secret courts, executed on the spot, or even used for experiments in Harmont. A few even claim the combined militaries of the US and Canada are recruiting the most skilled looters for their own scouting forays into the abandoned town.

The people who claim to have made it out describe a half-alien half-familiar place of subtle dangers. There are scattered reports of things lurking in the shadows and mists of the town, but it sounds the hazards such as the slime and spider thread are by far the biggest danger.

"People who go fast, die fast in Harmont," one survivors says, half into a pack of smokes. "I saw my buddy try to sprint past this geyser that spewed acid only to run right into this... field, I guess. It held him fast, frozen in time. I couldn't get him out. Now he's still running there, running in place forever."
>>
>>2014556

>>
>>2014678
There are many, in fact.
>>
>>2014556

>>
>>2014719
Lets visit one and see their wares. We should look for a clothing that can provide environmental hazard protection. Our normal clothes probably isn't suitable for exploring Harmont.
>>
>>2014740
You peruse the shady merchants, but the closest thing they have to protective gear is one looted hazmat suit from a dead Canadian exploration team, and some kevlar of dubious origin.

>>2014733
Ready to enter Harmont?
>>
>>2014758
get the hazmat suit then go to the bridge.
>>
>>2014763
You lay down the money for the hazmat suit and go to the Bridge.

The Bridge, as its name suggests, is a collapsed bridge over a rather large river leading into the town proper. Piles of rubble from the fallen road litter both shores of the river, which looks quite deep and fast in this fall season. A small group of five men in body armor and fatigues patrol the far shore, but that's the only military presence you see in the area. The shore is long and the men slow. Like the stalkers said, you can probably make it past them pretty easy if you're fast and quiet.
>>
>>2014791
You do notice that someone has spray-painted "Harmont isn't real!!!" and "Fear the Sphere!" onto two particularly large chunks of concrete.

You wait until the patrol is past you, then move from rubble cluster to cluster, hiding every time the soldiers stop to do a 360 inspection of the area. The only trouble spot is when you have to cross the river, the splashing of your legs through the rushing water nearly giving you away. Luckily you manage to jump behind a giant slab of concrete stuck in the river just in time.

In the hazmat suit, you are nice and dry, the water flowing around the airtight rubberized exterior.

It takes a few more minutes of sneaking to get you past the patrol area completely, but you manage it. It isn't long before you hit the shattered remains of a road, a road that you see leads to ruined and twisted buildings.

Harmont.

Half of the town looks completely normal and merely empty. The other half looks like H.P. Lovecraft and H.R. Giger spat at each other and the saliva drops hit each other in mid-air and combined both the nightmare essences from both men to form something innately disturbing. A police station is distorted into a spiral rising into the air like those twisted hills in Nightmare Before Christmas. A library emits a loud grinding sound as it constantly shifts and rebuilds itself. A two story house, humble and serene... somehow hurts to look at, and you find you can't stand to view it for more than a few seconds.

Whatever the hell happened to this town, you're sure it wasn't the work of terrorists, gas leaks, or whatever the hell bullshit story they gave.

You have your Scouter out and equipped. The readings its giving you are difficult to understand from the sheer amount of anomalous activity it's picking up. However, given that its primary function is to detect individuals with superhuman power, amidst the flow of unintelligible data you are able to tell that beside yourself, there are three individuals with bizarre power levels stalking the ruins. Well... almost. Two are moving around the ground level. One appears to be flying.

The dice really love you when you need them the most, it seems.

You slowly back away, back into an alley. You see the man sweeping his device this way and that way and finally screaming in frustration.

"Good! Run away! Harmont's my town! No one else is going to claim it for their own, you hear! I'll guard it until I die, you hear me! Until I die!!!"

He continues to rant and rave until you're safely out of earshot, hiding in an abandoned convenience store. Your Scouter informs you the other signals have switched position, but none are moving towards you yet. Two seem to be moving towards each other, while that last signal seems to flick in and out of detection all over the map.

Oh. That wasn't a switch at all.

The good news is that your Scouter will still detect beings with anomalous "power levels."

The bad news is that it's stuck on that mode because you broke the control that lets you adjust things, severely limiting its functionality.
>>
>>2017276

Well, isn't that nice. In that case, let's start trekking towards the source of the interference.
>>
>>2017284
Gathering yourself, you venture out into the town once more, attempting to find the source of the interference that's messing with your Scouter.

Immediately on exiting the store, you hear gunfire in the distance in one direction, and a chain of explosions in the other. Thankfully both aren't near where you think you need to go.

You keep to the alleys, passing half-melted garbage cans, empty beer bottles that seem to quiver like jelly, and even a few tires that spin in place with nothing to move them. Here and there you see... strange things. Blobs and orbs of light or shining material, lengths of purple vine, and other such bizarre debris are occasionally scattered in random places.

Finally you come to a long alley completely coated in a vicious black oil, a rusted fire escape hanging from what once was an apartment building. The building on one side is overgrown with vibrant green thorns while the other looks like it's been aged a thousand years. Someone has spray-painted on the decayed building, "A fucking leaf did this!"

Whatever is causing the interference is beyond this alley.
>>
>>2017472
Pick up a rock and throw it into the alley to see if its safe and not full of anomalies. Go forward into the alley if it's safe.
>>
>>2017472

>>
>>2017585
>>2017592

Hitting ground with a muffled thump, you look around to see a trio of men in many pocketed coats moving around what was once a jeweler's. They haven't spotted you yet. The interference is coming from further down the road. The gunfire is gone, but the explosions continue, slightly closer.
>>
>>2017717
Hide and observe the three men, are they bandits just looting this place?
>>
>>2017758
You take cover behind the shattered wall of what was once a bookstore and observe the men for a while. They seem to be loading their pockets with jewelry and smashing display cases to get more... looters is an excellent guess.

>>2017774

>>
>>2017884
>>2017897
Sneaking past the men doesn't take a lot of effort, engaged in their theft as they are. You continue down the road towards the interference, passing a few more buildings before you stumble on a group of five men wielding a cobbled together array of weapons... baseball bats, a pistol, a shotgun, and one scoped hunting rifle. They're all kneeling around what looks like a crystal tube that bends and moves with the wind, a gentle luminscence glowing from within. Two of the men are busy trying to carefully lift the thing into some sort of seal-able metal container with tongs while the other three stand watch. On sighting you, the shotgunner and rifleman raise weapons.

"Best keep walkin', son. This here's our claim," the shotgunner says, his fellows redoubling their efforts to get the strange object into the container.

"You got ten to keep walking, before you end up like those two over there," the rifleman says, nodding to a pair of corpses across the road, ragged shot and bullet rounds clear through torn down jackets.

In that case, keep moving. We don't care about other things while we are hunting the interference.
>>
>>2018042
Just keep moving like they want then.
>>
>>2018059
With this in mind you stalk past many similar scenes in your pursuit of whatever's causing the interference. Teams of looters, some obviously cobbled together, some obviously professional mercenaries scour the ruins for strange objects as you move past the outskirts and into the town proper. Once you even sneak past a firefight between two teams over something that looks like a crystalline pyramid jutting up from what used to be a drive-in.

More dangerous are the military patrols carefully analyzing the entire site... and shooting at any stalker dumb enough to get in range. You give these a wide berth, helped immensely by the patrol's complete lack of stealth.

The human element of Harmont begins to fade the deeper you go, however. Still picking at the outskirts, not many have bothered... or dared to press deeper into the center, where the interference is coming from. Dangerous anomalies begin to pick up dramatically here. You know enough to avoid things like the oil lakes now, or obviously dangerous things like the electrical sparks or fire columns you occasionally see belching up from the ground, but as you pass a ruined fire station, you see something very strange. All across the road in front of you are dead birds, sliced nearly into many pieces, and at least one luckless stalker missing an arm and part of his head.

You try to throw yourself out the opposite end of the office complex as the whole thing comes collapsing down, crushing the monsters you saw in an instant. You don't get quite the range you want, rubble and debris painfully pouring on top of you as you hit the ground and get pinned under what feels like more and more weight...

You almost black out.

When the rumbling and dust subsides, you can only see faint cracks of light. You've been buried alive, but shallowly. With a little movement your move your hand and feel it hit air. Throw a stone to see if there is an anomaly. Perhaps they are hypnotized or trapped by a time anomaly.

Are we able to learn anything about the interference from where we are?

Might be time to start dropping some of our crazier stuff.
>>
>>2018328
It's coming from in the quarry.

>>2018325
You throw a stone at one of the men and it just stops in midair a few inches from his head.
>>
>>2018373
look for a long sturdy branch and see if you can pull one of the men towards us without getting close.

How about we poke the floating rock with the black blade?

We already know it has time magic.

Poke the rock with the black blade. With the fullest of our reach.

>>2021746
You poke the man with the branch and find that the branch is suddenly completely immobile, it won't budge no matter how hard you pull.

You then pull out your black blade and give the rock a light swat. It immediately falls to the floor, bouncing away.
>>
>>2021793

Is our scouter able to tell us anything about the field?

Bump the branch with the hilt of the black blade.

If it works, it's probably safe for us to proceed.
>>
>>2021754

You do realize we'll then have 4 other possibly hostile guys on our hands...

>Games: Max Payne, Stranglehold, The Matrix Series. I think you missed these
>>
>>2021801

Aside from the powered individuals we have carefully avoided thus far, I doubt these guys pose much of a threat between our shield and black blade.
>>
>>2021799
Unfortunately, your Scouter is only good for tracking powered individuals and not much else right now.

You bump the branch with the hilt and nothing happens.
>>
>>2021813
So its just the blade, then
>>
>>2021813

Alright, stuff our black blade away, pull out our lightsaber, emulate Magicka and cast Nullification.

2v1 Emulate v Blade, so...

You Emulate the mages of Magicka and cast a powerful Nullification spell. The magic seems to disrupt whatever is freezing time and the four men immediately slump to the ground, gasping. A moment later they have guns drawn, pointing them at each other, and you, but not firing.

"The sphere is mine!"

"Back off, I was here first!"

"What happened? What did you do to me?!"

"Drop your guns, now!"

"All of you better..."

"Back away, right now!"

The standoff looks like it could go hot any moment.
>>
>>2021913
back away from them all and continue on.

Fuck, that emulation could have been useful for those fucks that keep homing in on us
>>
>>2021913

Open up with a flame tongue (or whatever the name of our spell is), and after that start swiping with the lightsaber.
>>
>>2021913
oh well, may as well salvage what we can from this and get that sphere. light up your lightsaber and order them to stand down. You just saved them and this is what you get?
>>
>>2021961
switching to this.
>>
>>2021961
The men turn and blink, momentarily dumbfounded.

"...is that a LIGHTSABER?" one exclaims.

"What the hell..." another murmurs.

"Stand down!" you repeat. "I didn't pull you out of that time field just to kill each other all over again, now shut up and listen!"

None of the men say anything, but their weapons are lowered as they look nervously from person to person. Looks like you've got an audience now.
>>
>>2022034
So what happened and how did you guys get into this mess? Did you realise that you were trapped in some time field?
>>
>>2022034
Also tell me about the sphere you just mentioned.
>>
>>2022078
this
and try to convince them to leave the zone after being away for who knows how long. Also tell them its five years past what the real year is. that'll really freak them out
>>
>>2022078
>>2022087
One of the men frowns. "It was like... I took a step forward and then everything stopped. I vaguely remember a horrid feeling of cold... of suffocation. Then the next thing I knew all these other people were here."

"I was using bolts to try and bypass the time fields... there's safe zones here and there, but I guess I missed a patch," one of the men grumbles.

"The sphere? How do you not know about the sphere?" another murmurs. "It's one of the most famous things in the town! A floating sphere of pure gold that some say can grant wishes..."

"And even if it can't, that much gold is worth a fortune," a grizzled man clutching an AK mutters. "Enough to retire on."
>>
>>2022034

Now listen here! You are going to tell me what you are fighting over that was worth freezing yourselves in time for what could have been forever if I hadn't shown up.

You guys screwed up so colossally badly that no one wanted to come anywhere NEAR you lest they get caught up in your time bubble, and everyone else that didn't know was torn to shreds by invisible string before they could GET near.

You are going to tell me what you are fighting over and what caused it to go off, and then I am going to take it, to stop it from going off again. I don't know what you are going to do after that, and I don't much care, but I'll bet at least some of you have left people behind that have been worried about you or think you're dead for who KNOWs how long.

Or, you can try for the Darwin award a second time, and the man with the lightsaber AND each other. Because even if you were to fight me together and SOMEHOW win, you would still have to deal with the other three that want whatever the fuck it is.
>>
>>2022108
Your words cause the men to shrink back a little.

"Nothing... went off as far as I could tell," one of the men says, a man in worn surplus army gear. "The Golden Sphere is supposed to rest in the quarry. Me and Robert here came and found the others already frozen, figured there was some sort of stasis anomaly, and started prodding around. We thought we found a way through... but we were wrong."

"So were we," the grizzled man grunts. "The patterns shift. I saw an anomaly move over Blake here a second before one must've caught me and I knew no more. The damn town just keeps throwing more surprises at us..."

"I'm going to go back to the outskirts," Robert, a man in flannel with a scoped hunting rifle says. "It's still dangerous, but not as bad as this."

"I'm done," the grizzled man says, shaking his head. "I'll snatch a few things on the way out to pay for the trip home and then I'm never coming back to this damn country."
>>
>>2022146
oh well, situation resolved. lets move on to the interference.
>>
>>2022146

Hold on, you SAW an anomaly move over Blake?

How?
>>
>>2022165
"Because he was standing still to light a smoke... then suddenly the smoke stopped moving and HE stopped moving. Then I knew nothing more," the man says. "The anomaly field here moves around. It's why no one's been able to pierce it. Until now..." He pauses. "How... How did you manage to get rid of it?"
>>
>>2022176
I just threw some stuff at you guys and then you started moving. I imagine the field just moved over someone else.

"Come on, how much crazy ass shit do you think is in this town?"

Put away our staff, reach in to our BBoH, and lightly finger the blade of our black blade as we keep moving toward the interference.

"By the way, I don't know how long the anomaly will stay gone. I'm not saving you guys a second time."
>>
>>2022229
>>2022216
This is enough to get the guys moving away... away from the quarry, and at a fast rate. It isn't long before you're along again, traversing the parking lot towards the quarry.

It doesn't last long.

You hear the voice before the Scouter detects a powered signal near you.

"Well... ahaheheh... that's not exactly how I figured that would happen, but I guess it's good enough? Mhmhm."

A teenager dressed all in green, raggedy clothes is perched on the roof of the parking lot. He's at least a hundred feet away, but you hear him as if he was right next to you.

"I've been waiting for a chance to speak... aheh... alone? This won't last long... The Leaf will return soon, this is his.... aheh... lair? No, no, more like guard station... no, no, no time for that. So, so SO! Gamer. You are the gamer. Yes," the teen scratches his mop of unruly blond hair. "Gamer. A hundred days. A hundred days before it happens, gamer. Fair warning, yes? Best I can give you. The absolute best."

What do you do?
>>
>>2022274
I go a couple of questions. Who are you? Also why does the leaf guard this place? Explain what will happen on hundred days?
>>
>>2022274

"If this really is someone's guard station, then lets walk and talk"

Keep moving toward the source.

"A hundred days until what exactly? I assume you mean starting from when we met the smiling man."

This guy seems to know what's up, and doesn't exactly seem hostile, stay polite until he acts aggressively. This looks like important information about our setting.
>>
>>2022274
Also what did you mean by "would happen". What did you expected to happen exactly?
>>
>>2022300
>>2022304
"I'm... aheh... the Quester. You are the Gamer. The Leaf guards this place because he fears it, fears to use it, fears others may use it, and above all the guilt, guilt. Didn't you read the message I left you? All this was done by..." the teen seems to spasm a bit. "A FUCKING LEAF!" he shouts. Then he grins and returns to normal. "A hundred days. I don't know what will HAPPEN, only that it WILL, you know? Like knowing a pop quiz is around the corner, I don't know the questions or the answers. And yes. Yes, yes, the Smiling Man. You know his name, few do, few do... Well, no. Not name. Names have power. His... title? Yes, title. I won't give you my name. Just my title. I don't dare ask for you name. Just the title. Gamer. Yes. Heeeee."

He smiles broadly, but with eyes that hold no humor in them. In a flash he is gone, only to reappear further down the roof as you walk towards him. "You think I'm mad, don't you?"
>>
>>2022320
"I expected you to... well, just sort of slash your way through the maze. Instead you used you magic to nullify it all? Why?" the Quester blinks. "Did the lives of those men mean something to you? There were four. Isn't that worth a quarter, Gamer?"
>>
>>2022323

"Maybe, but the situation we're in is plenty mad on its own. I'd say that if you are mad, then I'm probably a little mad too."
>>
>>2022327

Worth a quarter? You'll have to explain what that means. I know about my power only what I have been able to discern through my use of it.
>>
>>2022329
The Quester giggles, smiling broadly. "Of course you are. We're all mad. You must be. Or you wouldn't be here."

>>2022336
"Four men for a quarter, isn't that something gamers used to say? I heard it once, I think. I don't speak the language well."

The Quester suddenly convulses. "He's on his way. You haven't done poorly so far, so far, not as bad as the Leaf, not as good as the Watcher... a little better than the Knight or the Fan. And... hehehehe..." The Quester grins again. "MUCH better than the Music Man or the Priest. One dead, the other led. And the Weeeeeeeb." The Quester draws out the word in disgust. "The less said about him the better."

Your Scout is picking up a second powered signal, closing in.
>>
>>2022357

"Sorry to cut our meeting short, but in that case, I must get back to looting. Gamer, you know how it is."

Double time it toward the interference. Prepare the scroll of fear while we do.
>>
>>2022357
is someone with a title on the way? will you assist me?
>>
>>2022433
>>2022460
"The Leaf's back... I gotta book it! Hahahaha!"

And with that the Quester is suddenly gone like he was never there to begin with.

The man with the hazy shield you saw from earlier has emerged from a ruined building across the way and is full on sprinting for the quarry.

You break into a sprint for the huge pit yourself, hands clutching at the scroll from your magic bag...

>Quest paused, resumes in 10 hours.<

And that's where we leave it for now. Thanks for playing!
>>
>>2022475

Just to be certain, we ARE ahead of the leaf, right?
>>
>>2023238
>Quest Resumes<
He's sprinting towards the quarry at a right angle to you, you're pretty sure you've got a bit of a lead on him.
>>
>>2023326
The two of you run for a good full two minutes before the distance begins to close and you hear him shout out to you.

"What the hell do you think you're doing! Isn't the power you already have enough?!"

You don't reply in English, instead chanting out the words of the Fear scroll. The scroll burns away to ash as you finish and for a moment the man known as Leaf blanches, looks as if he might bolt... but instead he redoubles his pace towards the quarry, beginning to catch up to you.

"Turn around now, this is your last chance!"

>>2023397
"Megalomania?! This is my home, you ass! I just want idiots to stay away while I try to fix it!? the Leaf says. He's still a good twenty yards away, but you've reached the edge of the quarry's lip. An imposing drop greets your vision, a good fifty feet down to the bottom. There's a ramp hugging the wall leading down to your left, and on the quarry floor you see an abandoned digging machine... and beyond it, a floating golden sphere. A few bones and puddles of dried blood are scattered around the sphere, a good ten feet away from the thing. Bullet holes and burn marks mar the quarry wall behind it, signs of a struggle.

"NO, YOU CAN'T-" the Leaf shouts as the giant ball of plasma rockets from your gun to splash over his shield...

And everything is lost to pure white and a blast of incredibly painful heat for a moment before everything goes dark. You lose all feeling everywhere. You feel an odd sense of disconnection, floating in nothingness as the darkness splits with a smile.

"Alex, you are the gift that just keeps on giving!" the Smile says, laughing. "Oh, that was a hoot! Scratch one town! Scratch one Gifted! And you took a niiiiice chunk out of the other two that were in the town as well. Alas, one managed to...what's the term you use? 'Tank the hit?' The other one is dead, but he planned for that, you'll still have to deal with him later. Much as you did!"

"What?" you murmur, realizing you are not moving your lips but just creating a sound with your mind.

"Oh, you can't tell? You're dead, my boy. Dead, dead, dead. A pile of ash," the Smile laughs. "Ah, but you were lucky, lucky. That Ancestor's Grace you carried with you is already falling apart, exhausting its magic to repair your body and gear. You'll be waking up soon, I imagine. Waking up in an irradiated hellhole sure, but I'm sure you'll figure out ways to deal with that."

"What... happened..." you mumble. Thoughts don't come easily when you don't have a brain, words don't come easily when you don't have a mouth.

"Sub-atomic fusion, lad! The result of an energy weapon striking a Holtzman field! A nice, nuclear explosion for the world to see. But I guess it takes more than a nuke to stop your ambition, hm?" the Smile laughs again. "The game's reached a new stage now, though. No one's going to ignore a nuke going off. Now, let me quote something else I think you'll remember. Wake up, Mr. Davidson. Wake up and smell the ashes..."

You wake up completely whole, shards of bronze and emerald crumbling to dust around you as the Ancestor's Grace amulet completes its work. Around you, Harmont is a flattened crater, the ground around you glassed. Smoke still rises into the air and a terrible heat beats down on you.

Quickly taking stock of the situation, you notice one thing immediately.

The Golden Sphere is still floating in place where the quarry used to be, completely unharmed by the explosion.

You also notice that your Scouter has been repaired as a side effect of the Grace amulet restoring everything to their full natural state. Small favors, huh?

You lay hands on the Golden Sphere... and find that it won't move. It remains perfectly still, smooth and warm to the touch as you try to budge it. A strange energy radiates from it, making you feel revitalized, but you don't detect any further effect.

Your Scouter is informing you that a powered signature is approaching you at high speed from the air. A second's warning is all you get before a woman in spandex, beaten, bruised, blackened, and wounded touches down not more than twenty feet away from you. Long blonde hair dirty with ash flows around a pretty face marred by a swollen eye and several recent cuts. She looks like she was just in a hell of a fight... but seems untouched by the nuclear explosion you just caused.

"You!" she shouts, pointing. "It... it was you! You did this, didn't you! You murdered a whole town!"
>>
>>2023532
Just googled it, it's a personal forcefield from the Dune series. It does have a nuclear interaction with the lasguns from the series, but we got unlucky, those can be small enough to only obliterate the user. This one looks to be bigger than that. We have any untributed fallout games?

"What is your purpose?"

"Did you choose, or were you commanded to freeze those men in time?"

"Please come with me."
>>
>>2023653
The sphere floats inert until you ask, "What is your purpose?"

The knowledge is imparted instantly, like you've known all along and just now remembered. The golden sphere is an artifact of supreme power with the ability to grant a single wish to those who ask it something. Whatever it is commanded to do, it will do. Its purpose is solely to grant the wish of those who make it through the field of anomalies to it, terminating in a hazard known as the "meat-grinder" which requires the death of a living thing to deactivate and allow safe passage to the artifact. The meat-grinder seems to have been temporarily deactivated by the nuclear explosion, either because a body flew into it or the energy released interfered and overload it. Regardless, the legends you heard from the wannabe... and now very dead STALKERs are very true. The Golden Sphere grants one wish, and is the true treasure of Harmont... It also serves a secondary purpose, as the immense energy behind it shrouds the town in a wall of electro-magnetic interference that prevents easy observation or communication. It also seems to be linked to every anomaly in the town, supplying them with power.

You're also very aware that you just blew your wish learning all this about it.

You stab the sphere with your sword, the blade passing easily through the metal surface and striking something within the sphere. Instantly the sphere retracts into a golf-ball sized golden dot before exploding outward in a hail of multi-colored energy. Your shields protect you, draining away to prevent the blast from damaging you, but even so it knocks you off your feet.

When you get up, nothing remains but a radioactive crater.

There's nothing left of value in Harmont.

Don't call Alex.

Shape a single celled organism that causes flu-like symptoms, that is designed to enter lengthy dormancy periods when in contact with our DNA and not exposed to the open air.

The ultimate goal is to, over several days, produce an extremely deadly disease that only gets caught by people who manage to injure us, and which only has time to kill one or two people before it dies off itself. I'm talking
exposed people's skin falling off in 2 minutes, and the bacteria dying off in 3.
>>
>>2023737
ugh
you guys are so boring
>>
>>2023730
you think the morally high strung guy is gonna understand that we've lied to him and we nuked a town is just gonna say its alright and not worry about it?
hes gonna get angry and jump to conclusions like your precious super heroine did when she found us at the center.

>>2023737
... i kind of want to do that.
If we get more shaper charges we can also cancel and kill it if we accidentally infect a regular person or something.

>>2023749
says the guy that wants to morally be alex
>>
>>2023724
>>2023717
You think about calling Alex... but not just yet. You're still not sure whether or not you want to come clean.

Instead you head to the local range and spend the next three hours shooting at targets and letting your mind wander. The town was evacuated, right? It's not your fault. You didn't know the shield would do that.

Still, you remember the STALKERs you saved and realize there was no way they made it clear of the blast, nor was there any chance the other teams in the field made it our, nor was there any chance the joint Canadian/US expedition base camp didn't get caught in the blast as well...

A chilling thought strikes you as you fire.

How big WAS the blast? If it was large enough, it's possible some or all of Almington was caught in it as well, and that was a full fledged town, flush with people.

When your time at the range ends, you brush away spent casings into the trash and pay your fee to the range master, wondering if you even want to watch the news tomorrow. And... the thought pops in almost unbidden.

What DID that weird kid mean with the hundred days?

>Day 24 ends.

"I didn't even meet you yet, but you killed me.
Good thing, I was prepared for such a contingency.
I haunt the world now, of my former self, a ghost.
But mark my words, when I pull myself together, you're toast."

>Day 25 begins.
Refresh all powers.
Tier Up! Tributes increase to 4/4. Emulation increases to 2/2
>>
>>2023752
check the news and try the shapeing thing anon wanted to
>>
>>2023737
You give this one some thought and realize that while possible, this project is going to take serious time and effort. Doing it in a few days is simply not possible.
>>
>>2023759
The destruction of Harmont is all over the news, and like you feared, other towns got caught on the edge of the blast. The resulting firestorm wiped out not only Almington, but several other small communities as well. Canada is in a state of shock while the USA is in a fury, threatening massive retaliation against those responsible. The United Nations is quick to condemn the event as a terrorist ploy, but no group has stepped forward to claim responsibility yet. All international flights have been canceled and all shipping is under heavy watch as each nation tries to take stock of the situation and measure the chance of it escalating into full blown nuclear war.
>>
>>2023751
Alex is pretty interesting though. He tries, but still messes up and kills people. Maybe it's not as much of an accident as he implied, if you remember how he talked about his victims and ours.

>>2023752
Alright spooky ghost, part of it was the Canadians fault for having a nuclear bomb shield.

Tribute Fallout 3. Apt, as with a nuke going off in Canada we might need to deal with both literal and figurative fallout.
>>
>>2023761
>>2023759
>>2023730

What do you guys think? Do you want to tie up our shaper powers for the foreseeable future to get this show on the road?

I'm down if you are.
>>
I was under the impression the Leaf was running after us. If we manage to make him follow us up,then we can go back down the fast way, while he will be forced to go down the regular way.
Does that make sense?
>>
>>2023784
sure but can we shape our two cats first?
we've had them forever and haven't done anything with them.
we could just turn them to maids and servants or just give them human inteligence.
fuck, maybe we can give them the ability to shapeshift.

Also, i agree with tributing fallout
>>
>>2023752

A level up but at what cost? Anyways for you dipshits and this whole killer virus thing, screw all that! We need to prepare for war.

We also lost some items. I'd also suggest an emulation of some FF char that can cast Life 3 or ReRaise and learn that shit as quick as possible.
>>
>>2023784
Not really. It wouldn't just be shaper powers, a two minute kill time disease would have to involve heavy magic as well. Plus I get the feeling most of our real opponents will have countermeasures, like Alex has armor, leaf had ranged weapons and a shield, supergirl probably has some super immune system, etc.
>>
>>2023804

I'm sure it won't work on EVERYONE, but is should work on most foes. You can't pretend armor or subatomic shields block disease.

Of course, if anyone caught the pandemic we'll soon see if the others have countermeasures.

>>2023799
What do you want to Shape them into?
>>
>>2023782
You have already tributed Fallout 3, its where the Metal Blaster was from. Did you want to tribute one of the other Fallouts?
>>
>>2023820

Without going into what we might want one to do, could we Shape a symbiote?
>>
>>2023812
If it's in our blood and dies off in 3 minutes outside, yes, I can see armor preventing it from making contact long enough for it to die.

Energy shields of course can hold it off indefinitely. Sufficiently advanced ones will filter incoming substances, killing the disease.

>>2023820
Yeah, how about 2. My bad, I didn't see it on the pastebin tribute list.

>>2023802
I gotchu senpai. Emulate Natalie from Epic Battle Fantasy 3, learn revive.
>>
>>2023832

Not if they let you breathe.

For example, the leaf's shield would not have stopped a disease attack at all.

And shields can be broken, especially with our wounds releasing more disease to keep attempting to infect.
>>
>>2023832

Negative. Emulate a Final Fantasy Tactics Advance White Mage. Learn Auto Life. We want to not die, and if we do come right back

You inform the Chosen One who helped him blow the oil rig. There is a pause, then a full suit of Advanced Power Armor appears in front of you.
>>
>>2023855
If you Emulate a White Mage to learn Auto Life/Reraise, it will take you a full eight hours to learn, counting all modifiers.
>>
>>2023855
That's exactly what Revive does in EBF3 anon. Cast it on someone dead, they come back to life. Cast it on someone alive, they get auto-revive status, coming back to life automatically if they get killed. You can even cast in on yourself.

>>2023852
The disease won't suddenly fill all space within a 20 meter radius of us as soon as we get a papercut anon. If our blood gets blocked by armor, the disease will spend 2-3 minutes propagating through air to reach the target. It then dies off before it accomplishes anything.

I don't know enough about Dune to contradict you on that, but the disease never would have affected Leaf. He never got close. He had a gun.

>>2023859
Hell yea. We should go out and buy a Geiger counter.
>>
>>2023871

Do it. We need this spell more then they know.
>>
>>2023875
>>2023880

Let's split the difference. Op can we learn it in 4 hours if we emulate both games?
>>
>>2023871
sounds good.
Do it with skull mentor nearby to help and observe. maybe he could learn it as well from watching us or speed up the process
>>
>>2023859

Oh, so we couldn't make one ourselves?

Holy fuck, its power armor.

>>2023875

>The disease won't suddenly fill all space within a 20 meter radius of us as soon as we get a papercut anon

Not with that attitude it won't. Guarantee you we can finagle an enchantment/locomotion means. And its not like we can't fine tune how long we need the disease to live.
>>
>>2023887
>>2023880
OK, so we're using FFTA then.

>>2023884
You could. Do you want to?
>>
>>2023897

Sure, whatever.

Its not like we would be doing much with our day if we only emulated one anyway.

Do we have time to learn a second spell before our emulations run out?
>>
>>2023897
sure sure, why not
>>
>>2023899
Sure, but then it takes 8 hours again, 4 for each spell.
>>
>>2023893
And at this point I just think it'll take too much time for not enough reward. We'll spend a lot of time shaping the thing, we'll enchant it to kill people super fast, we'll enchant it to duplicate in air, close range, without extending lifespan on its copies, we'll enchant it to not die so quickly if we need it to hang around, we enchant it to not kill people we want to spare if they're accidently too close, how long is this gonna take? Months? We have less than 3 of those left before the 100 day deadline.

Even if we do complete it, one dude shoots us from 40 feet away with a gun. GG.

I just really don't think it'll ever be worth it. Why have a disease that kills in minutes, when we could and already have weapons that kill in seconds?

>>2023897
Let's do it. Good thing they're similar enough spells.
>>
>>2023897

I do indeed. I also think the virus thing is retarded and will take to much concentration trying to control it in a fight. Let alone some innocent bystander
>>
>>2023908
>>2023905
What's the second spell you want to learn?
>>
>>2023908
If we are injured, we're getting one shot by a gun anyway, more or less. Depending on how our ballistic protection holds up.

>>2023905
The idea is that we don't have to control it at all.

Whatever, I can see there is plenty of opposition. No point if you aren't willing to spend all of that time.

We will probably need to shape something that can kill whatever pandemic 2 summoned.
>>
>>2023905
for one thing its good for taking out non powered people.
We could also just permanently leave it dormant in us and shape power a new one instantly into someone or someones using the one in us as a quick template. would have helped a lot in the jewelers office.
>>
>>2023914
God I dunno. Heal?

>>2023918
Non powered people aren't gonna injure us. We need no help with them.

>>2023915
Maybe we can get a vaccine for the Pandemic 2 disease by tributing Pandemic 1?

Joke.

Though now that I think about it, if we emulate Pandemic 1 we might be able to develop our own vaccine. We'd need a lab and a sample of the disease though.
>>
>>2023914
>>2023935

We'll say Cure and leave it at that.

You let the power of white magic flow through you and at the end of a stressful eight hours with your skull mentor chattering away about how you're moving your hand wrong, not concentrating hard enough, or whatever, you manage to learn Reraise and Cure.
>Reraise learned. Cure learned.

Tributes: 2/3.

You are starving, so you order some delivery and chow down while watching a movie on your expensive computer. After the impromptu lunch you're left with another eight hours in the day.

it should be fine as long as the threats solution isn't above nuking a town.
now a country, thats a good stoping point.

Iced the jewlers and the mafia for that shit, not cause of some retarded notion that they were evil.
>>
>>2024745

So you want us to risk our life trying to to change the mind of a girl who wants to kill us.

Yeah no, I will vote to kill the fuck out of her every single time. And I will brainstorm creative ways to get around any protections she may have in place to make killing her a more viable option.
>>
>>2024763
No, we killed the jeweler and mafia members because they pressured us, were committing pretty much every crime that exists, and later abducted and imprisoned us.

Sparing the supergirl wasn't out of character because we haven't murdered anyone just for seeing our face or yelling at us. If that was something we did we would have worn a mask to our first meeting to the jeweler. You can't retroactively make our face a touchy subject just because you want to kill random people.

>>2024792
She never said she wanted to kill us. The only reason she feels any hostility is because she thinks we intentionally nuked a town. You can vote for the wannabe edgelord choices if you really want, but I'm going to vote for explaining the situation to her, because it's out of character for us to just start killing anyone who looks at us funny.
>>
>>2024739
Pretty sure you can't outrun bullets.

>>2024745
How are you gonna do that? I am sure a "whoops I accidentally the whole town, please forgive me" isn't gonna cut it. Further more she might bring us to "justice" anyway.

>>2024763
I think OP needs to clarify if she saw out face because we bought a mask during preparations for this purpose and the hazmat suit would have further obscured our face even more.
>>
>>2024810
Tell her it was mostly the Leaf's fault for attacking you while wearing a shield that tends to explode with a nuclear yield. We were just defending ourselves.
>>
>>2024807

>Kill girl before she can kill you

>Sparing the supergirl wasn't out of character because we haven't murdered anyone just for seeing our face
ahahahahaha.
remember when we killed that guy just for seeing our shield deflect his knife?
good times.
also we didnt wear a mask with the jewler cause he had no reason to think we had powers. as soon as he told us he heard rumors of a man making a mountain of diamonds appear is when his life really ended.
is it my use of the word identity thats throwing you off? our powers are secret and to be protected.
>>
>>2024865

To be fair, I don't think our intent was to kill him. Just to knock him out.

Though he was trying to kill us, and I fully support killing him first.

Downsides to killing her: We put in the effort of tracking her down, without a name or any information other than she wears spandex and we've seen her face. We travel to wherever she is, and risk our life and our secrecy to kill her.

Benefits: We don't do any of the above, and have a future potential ally.

>Day 29 Begins

"Terror is sweeping the nation as some sort of new sickness is popping up everywhere from Timbuktu to Toronto! Nicknamed the Green Death, this mysterious disease causes the flesh in several spots over the body to become bruised and greenish, flush with pus as the body fails to fight the intruder. The plague appears to slowly dissolve the organs of the victim and cause hemorrhaging in a manner similar to Ebola. The CDC is enacting emergency quarantine protocols in all major metropolitan centers with known cases of the disease, while in a startling show of serendipity the closing of the US' borders in response to the destruction of Harmont seems to have slowed the spread of the contagion."

"In other news today, the United States has announced that it has a major lead on the figures responsible for both the North Korean situation and the nuclear incident in Harmont. Details are still coming in, but the United States has officially stated it is creating a task force specifically to hunt down those responsible and bring them to justice. 'Task Force Durango' will be working at the highest levels with other world governments with the best personnel and equipment our tax dollars can provide. More on that story as it develops."

Lets pump up the dragons vitality and endurance to hopefully boost his chance to live.
unless we're pressed for time.
if so, do it.
We should definitely tribute quarantine, it should help with the plague. .
Might be easier to just shape a bird thats designed to cure the disease
>>
>>2025753
If we go through with this, we are basically taking his soul to grant us semi permanent dragoon powers.

Not much point trying to keep him alive if you want to use him for power. We can make another one anyway.

>>2025732
Alright, looks like it is time to Shape a cure to the Pandemic we summoned.

Let's make that today's focus. And probably the next couple weeks focus as well.
>>
Why aren't we tributing a game for a cure instead of wasting huge amounts of time trying to shape a cure.
>>
>>2025900

Because last time we tributes for a cure, it only worked on one person.

If we shape a living thing that eats the pandemic, that can spread and cure multiple people.
>>
>>2025900
Why are we bothering to make a cure at all?
>>
>>2026097

Because we don't want humanity to be wiped out.

Which is what will happen if we don't intervene.
>>
>>2025903
you're not wrong but it really wasn't surprising considering the cure came from doctor mario.
With only 1 tribute we might just get a cure for everyone if we do quarantine. That game is basically pandemic but from the opposing side. Like xcom but with worldwide plagues and disease instead of aliens.
>>
>>2026315
First of all, Madagascar will survive no matter what, so humanity will not be wiped out.

Second, why do we not want humanity wiped out?

Third, plenty of other people have powers. Some of them can probably stop the plague easily. We should let them put in the work while we focus on getting stronger.
>>
>>2026575

No, we shouldn't. We don't even know if WE can stop the plague. The other powered individuals have no clue that this is a civilization ender.

ALSO, this is the pandemic from when we beat the game. THIS plague made it to Madagascar, nowhere is safe.

>Third, plenty of other people have powers. Some of them can probably stop the plague easily.

What's to stop the other powered individuals from thinking the same way? Face it, we are the only one who can stop the plague.

>Second, why do we not want humanity wiped out?

Quite simple. Because it is humanity, and it is going to be wiped out.
>>
>>2026662
The plague in the game didn't have to contend with other superhumans. Given how this made the news, I imagine efforts are going to start concentrating on it quickly.

It's a great opportunity for us. Kill off other gifted, and occupy the rest in searching for a cure.

Those reasons for saving hunanity aren't reasons at all. How does it benefit us? Name one way. No moralfagging.
>>
>>2026707

>Wanting humanity to not be wiped out in a matter of weeks
>This is somehow moralfagging

How about the fact that humanity existing provides a convenient infrastructure for us to rule over?

How about the fact that there is no reason we can't catch the plague again?

There are plenty of practical reasons to stop the plague.

>It's a great opportunity for us. Kill off other gifted, and occupy the rest in searching for a cure

How do you know the other gifted aren't thinking the same way? Particularly with the fact that they don't know they are dealing with a civilization-ender?
>>
>>2026764
Humanity may have provided convenient infrastructure, but that's already built. All they are now is a potential threat, they'll kill us if they ever find out what we've done. We can learn summoning or golem making magic and create loyal servants to maintain whatever we need.

We can cast refresh now. Even if we catch the plague again it's one cast away from cured. Plus we likely have resistance from being sick once.

Even if other gifted do the same thing, I doubt all of them can survive like we will. Some will die, some will moralfag and try to cure it, some will give up after losing friends and family. We, on the other hand, will thrive.
>>
I'd rather not kill a bunch of people, pandemic is a few notches above nuke a town.

Nice to see we have an anon on the other side of the extreme spectrem to balance the too nice anon.
Still, we're moral enough to rat the mafia out albeit begrudgingly when we saw them enslaving people.
Its not to hard to figure fixing a plague we made out of carelessness would be a priority.
>>
>>2026786

Refresh only fixes things esuna doesn't, there is a good chance it won't do shit to the plague.

You think we have time to replace 7 billion potential slaves? Not a single one of them presents a potential threat , as they have no idea who we are.

Guarantee we'll be one of the ones to give up when we lose our own family.
>>
>>2026851
Refresh covers what Esuna doesn't. If refresh doesn't cure the plague, we'll never get it in the first place because we have esuna.

We don't need to replace them all, it's not like we need the entire planet to remain in top condition. People are only potential threats because they don't know. If they knew we nuked harmont they'd be DIRECT threats, and guess what? They're gonna find out. Hero girl saw our face, the quester did too, nothing is stopping the ghost from blabbing instead of coming after us directly, and finally they have that special task force and this is the 21st century. We're just killing them before they kill us.

We don't have a family.
>>
>>2026886

We don't HAVE esuna you dip. Everything that esuna covers ISN'T covered.

We are saving these people. I gave you practical reasons. Not one of these people is a potential threat, we caused this plague, we are going to end it.

How about that the ghost doesn't know who we are?
>>
>>2026910
He managed to talk to us in our sleep, that's pretty damn targeted.

None of the reasons you gave me is.practical. It's all moralfagging, minus the possibility that we can get reinfected. In which case the smartest move is to hole up and make a defendable base, which will come in handy later vs surviving gifted.
>>
>>2026936

>It's all moralfagging,

All the reasons you have given to not cure the plague we caused have been edgelordfagging.
>>

>>
>>2026953

It is not "realistic" to not fix the plague that we have a decent chance of stopping at little cost to us, nor is it "efficient" to watch the world burn.

Sorry if that triggers you.

How are we intended to learn clairvoyance, when clairvoyance isn't in the framework of a spell?

>>
>>2026983

Bad idea anon.

mri or pet scan you can try, but I doubt we have the brain structure for awakening Psychic potential.

Try tributing a game where psychics can be awakened by medicine or something, if there is one.
>>
>>2027021

>weeks to months of effort

try "a" week.

> other gifted who ignored the crisis and got stronger

You say that like we won't be getting stronger at the same rate anyway. Shaping is limited daily, and its not like we are working with the most complex shit here.

We'll have plenty of time daily to emulate, tribute and train.

>inb4 hurr durr we could shape minions

Shaping minions doesn't make US any stronger, and the minions get diminishing returns as time goes on, and the threats we need them to be able to take on get stronger.
>>
>>2027021

Well fuck him. And fuck your edge too, or you might cut yourself son. Anyways look at it this way: humans are altogether to entertaining to let be wiped out if we can help it. Where would we be if op suddenly developed a plague and died? So you see if like entertainment, you got to love humanity.

Now if superbitch comes nosing around I'm all for ending her humanity pronto.
>>
>>2027040
>one week
A single week, to shut down a rapidly evolving disease that spread from an airport days ago, and has the potential to exterminate humanity. You serious?

>we'd get stronger at the same rate even while focusing on doing the above
I guess you weren't serious!

>We shouldn't bother shaping minions because the only worthwhile goal is improving our own body, we'd never face a situation where we don't want to do something personally, delegation is for smart people
Ok buddy no need to go overboard and ruin the joke.
>>
>>2027066
So you're ok with killing superbitch because she wants to kill us, but you're not ok with killing every world government member because they want to kill us? Please explain.
>>
>>2027068

>A single week, to shut down a rapidly evolving disease that spread from an airport days ago, and has the potential to exterminate humanity. You serious?

Yes, actually. Or did you think that we would be going to each individual person and curing them in person? One visit to an infected hospital, and then a quick trip to an airport, and then we get to watch the disease cure itself.

>I guess you weren't serious!

I actually WAS serious, our shaping time is limited each day, and we won't be able to spend all of our time shaping, so we'll still have time for our training.

>> delegation is for smart people

I see you haven't addressed my point about minions getting diminishing returns.

Any other purpose for minions can be served by producing them later (which won't impact their capabilities at all), or by using humans which we are preventing being wiped out.
>>
>>2027081

Every World Government doesn't want to kill us.

On the flip side girl-super has decided that she wants to kill us, and has the means. I fully support killing her.
>>
>>2027088
That's pretty optimistic. Looks like you forgot that pandemic plague does this think called evolve. A different agent might work for a bit, but would quickly be ineffrctive. Sure we could make a new one for the evolved disease, but that's another week, and another incomplete cure. How many weeks are you planning to sink into this? Too many.

>>2027091
We nuked canada and spread a plague worldwide from an airport, and you think they don't want to kill us. Please explain.
>>
>>2027116

>Looks like you forgot that pandemic plague does this think called evolve

Not at all, you seem to have forgotten that this is a pandemic from a beaten game. As in, one that has already fully evolved.

>How many weeks are you planning to sink into this?

One. None, if we aren't counting Shaping.

>We nuked canada and spread a plague worldwide from an airport, and you think they don't want to kill us. Please explain.

Quite simple, the governments cannot conceive of a single person being responsible for a nuke. Also, we didn't nuke Canada, the fucking leaf did.

There is also no evidence whatsoever of us being related to the plague, none to even find. Not even girl-super can connect it to us.

Its not like girl-super can go to the government and say we did it, she has no picture, and no name. She doesn't even have a way to show credibility. They'd be more likely to capture her than listen.
>>
>>2027141
You're assuming that the creator sent over the complete plague and didn't send us one from scratch.

Governments absolutely can conceive that, in fact it's human nature to consolidate blame to a single target. What do you expect to happen? They'll go like "oh we connected the nuke to this guy, but one person can't possibly have done it so I guess we'll just leave him alone"? Get real.

There absolutely is evidence connecting us to the plague. It spread from us. If we're being scrutinized already, they'll make that connection when they review surveillance and flight logs.

You guys are obsessing over some rando girl who can fly. She can't even find us. Plus she's a moralfag like you, so she'll give us a chance to repent or some bs. Meanwhile, one night we're gonna wake up to our warehouse getting firebombed, and multiple swat teams combing through the wreckage after to confirm the kill. Now that'll be entertaining.
>>
>>2027176

>You're assuming that the creator sent over the complete plague and didn't send us one from scratch.

How about this? In the game, once the cure to the pandemic is made, thats it, you can't evolve your way around it. You can delay the cure being made with drug resistance, but you can't evolve the actual cure away.

>What do you expect to happen? They'll go like "oh we connected the nuke to this guy, but one person can't possibly have done it so I guess we'll just leave him alone"?

What I expect to happen is that they'll never connect the nuke to us in the first place.

>There absolutely is evidence connecting us to the plague.

There is absolutely no evidence connecting us to the plague. We didn't even have a coughing fit until we were already in flight. If we were being scrutinized we'd have been questioned about the Giusetelli fiasco.

Oh no! This guy went onto a flight 4 days before the plague started, that must mean he is connected somehow! There isn't any fucking evidence, and even if there was, there wouldn't be any way for them to determine that we did it, and weren't simply someone who caught it.

You've got your priorities backwards.

We aren't on the government's radar, meanwhile there is a super out there who knows our face out to kill us.
>>
we've been trying to stay off the radar from day fucking one, the government isn't even close to finding us. the town was shielded from surveilance and anyone that could have connected us to their is dead. plus if the airport has records of us being on flight, we can just say our passport was stolen or some shit. do you even need a passport for private chartered planes? airtight excuse since we're back home without flying back

You should stop worrying about the government and worry more about the mafia don. he and his goon have the most on us than anyone.
Even super girl is 2nd in exposing us.
>>
>>2027194
The cure can also fail and give the virus immunity to all future cures.

That's an unrealistic expectation. They'll investigate everyone, and we're already suspicious.

You think they need symptoms to connect us to the plague? They'll notice it spread from places we went.

We are so high up on the government's radar that they put a special task force together just for us. The super can't even find us, and couldn't beat us even if she could. The combined might of humanity will obliterate us if we let them. You're the one with backwards priorities.

>>2027219
You do need a passport for private planes leaving the country. Say it was stolen? We checked in. The flight attendants and cameras have our face. You think they won't remember the young guy who bought a private flight to harmont, when it got nuked right after? You think nothing about that will raise red flags? 1-800-come on now
>>
>>2027256
oh fuck, excelent catch anon.
We need to hack into the place with our super phone and erase that footage like we did at the dons restaurant.
We need to do this ASAP
>>
>>2027256

>The cure can also fail and give the virus immunity to all future cures.

No, it can't. That isn't a thing that can happen.

>That's an unrealistic expectation. They'll investigate everyone, and we're already suspicious.

It's really not unrealistic at all for the government not to connect the person who made the nuke when he is one of the people who got nuked.

>You think they need symptoms to connect us to the plague? They'll notice it spread from places we went.

You mean the ONE place we went? The airport, where thousands of people go through each hour, that place? Sorry no, they aren't going to connect us to the plague.

>We are so high up on the government's radar that they put a special task force together just for us.

Lol, where are you getting this from? The closest we have ever come to being "on the radar" is when those two police officers asked us about our connection with the jeweler. No hide or hair since. The government hasn't the slightest idea who we are.

>The super can't even find us, and couldn't beat us even if she could.

The super is one of the only ones who COULD beat us.

>The combined might of humanity will obliterate us if we let them.

Good thing the combined might of humanity isn't interested in obliterating us.

> You think they won't remember the young guy who bought a private flight to harmont, when it got nuked right after? You think nothing about that will raise red flags?

You mean the same Harmont that had so many tourists and hunters that the hotels were completely full? Yes, I think one more traveler isn't going to raise even one red flag.

It's really not unrealistic at all for the government not to connect the person who made the nuke when he is one of the people who got nuked.
So they know we got nuked, and survived, and therefore they're like "oh he must not have done it". Obviously surviving a nuke won't look weird at all.

If they're already looking at us for private plane, Harmont travel, nuke stuff, yeah, they will absolutely say if this one guy was connected to the improbable nuke out of nowhere, maybe, just maybe, he also had something to do with the extinction plague out of nowhere? She didn't fight OUR minions, she fought ghost guy's minions, and he appears to be specialized in them somehow.

As for the task force, they aren't looking for US, they are looking for whoever did NK. They think whoever did NK also did Harmont. That is proof beyond any shadow of doubt that they aren't looking for us.

How do you even use a blaster, anyway? It's just like any other gun, right? First step spray, second step pray!

You appear behind Arnold and let loose with a barrage of blaster bolts, most going wide and burning holes in your expensive house. A few do hit though, disintegrating flesh and revealing cold steel underneath.

"Sweet shit, it IS a T-800!" you mutter as Arnold turns around and unloads a full magazine from the AR-55 into you. Fully programmed for combat, most of the rounds hit their mark and once again Helios' nano-aug saves your life. You manage to teleport away badly wounded, but alive and enough together to act. Peeking around the corner, you see the T-800 advancing on your position with an expressionless face. Its expensive suit is on fire around the areas where you shot it with the blaster. He does not seem to give even a single shit.

You use the last of your magic to imbue your dragon with an extra life, then send it out into the fray. It scrambles with amazing speed away from you and onto the roof, where you hear inhuman roars and screams of pain from both your pet and its quarry. The house shakes and you hear breaking masonry and glass several times.

It sounds like not only your pet has found the Predator, but there's a hell of a fight going on up there. You've been ready with your cryogun, but neither combatant has reappeared on the first level. What do you do?

>>2031983
Emulation: 1/2, Mr Shifty is still active.
Tributes: 3/4.

You make your way up to the second floor to see your dragon and the Predator making a warzone out of your bedroom. The alien is blackened and burnt from repeated dragonfire blasts, while several holes pump blood from the great beast you created. As you watch, the shoulder cannon of the Predator fires again and again, ripping through the throat of the animal and causing it to let out a pained bellow. The dragon collapses. Heedless of you, the Predator leaps onto its body, removing its combi-stick for a decapitation strike.

The Predator's attempt to gain a great trophy is interrupted by your raise magic activating in the dragon, restoring it to life in time to coat the Predator in fire at the same time its claws rip open great gashes in the enemy. Glowing green blood oozes from deep lacerations as the Predator rips off its mask and casts away its gear, extending wrist blades and roaring at the beast in a challenge.

So caught up in the death duel, neither creature has noticed you.

Just as the form of Robert Patrick begins to become clear in front of you, a draconic head bursts through the wall next to you and unleashes a gout of dragonfire on the T-1000. The machine gives a shriek like rusted nails on a blackboard and you quickly realize that it's not going to be enough...

Thinking quick, you down one of your Ethers and pour all of your magic into an enhanced Flametongue spell, both you and your dragon keeping up the fire until the metal disperses into silver puddles that do not reform.

You've destroyed the T-1000.

"Fire in the highlands tonight as a mansion is set ablaze after a mysterious incident. Residents report sounds of gunfire and strange sounds before a recently purchased mansion burnt to the ground. Police have found no bodies, but the gunfire points to this being more than simple arson. Beyond that, bizarre reports of monsters in the sky bring to mind the Lumbarg Street incident of a few weeks ago. We go live to Melissa Harris already on the scene."

The scene shifts to a young woman with a ponytail and a microphone speaking to a large, burly man in a uniform of some kind.

"Thank you Tom. I'm standing here with Fire Inspector Red Howard. Red, you believe that what we have here isn't just something as simple as arson, is that true?"

Red nods and makes a grunting sound.

"Wubadubadub is that true?" Melissa asks, to get the same grunt response. She continues. "Wubadubadub is that true?" The same grunt. Melissa grins. "Whoa! You go, big guy!"

The feed cuts back to the newsroom, where the anchor looks furious.

"I apologize to our watchers, apparently our reporter decided this would be a good time for some sort of prank. In the meantime, new reports on the virus sweeping the nation. Cases of the Green Death are now being reported in Europe and Russia, as tensions rise even further. You drive to the warehouse and confirm that Igor and your dragon are keeping it safely guarded for the time being.

>>2032729
>Tribute FF2
You gain a set of spellbooks. Cure, Heal, Bolt, Fire, and Ice.
>>
>>2032965

Alright then, who else wants to try to Shape our Charizard? I think having a Shaped minion we can carry in our pocket via pokeball is best kind of minion it is possible for us to have.
>>
>>2032965
Oh shit, great stuff from FF2. Study up on that in downtime.

Maybe we should call Alex and see if he has any way of finding a target? I'm out of ideas for how to track down the Watcher.
>>
>>2032991
If you're going to contact Alex, what story are you going to give him?
>>
>>2033166
Tell him the robot and alien that attacked us were the Terminator and Predator, from movies by the same names. Ask if he has a way to find who sent them.
>>
> the Predator rips off its mask and casts away its gear,

So what kind of gear did he cast away? Is it useable?
>>
>>2033166

Let's not call Alex. We have given a few too many hints that we are gifted as it is.

Let's see if we can come up with scrying from one of our tributes or emulation.
>>
>>2033218
Are you going back to the mansion to look for some?
>>
>>2033254
Let's not.

>>2033218
Mansion burned down around it, it's likely all ruined.

>>2033244
What's the big deal about telling him again?
>>
>>2033260

Because him not knowing is an advantage we have over him. Presently though, we are under assault by another gifted because of our part in the Harmont disaster, and Alex may not be as understanding of that as you may think.

Also, we would have to explain why we kept it from him, and why people are attacking us and it just leads to more questions we are better off not having to answer.
>>
>>2033299
Him not knowing means we can't gain the far, far greater advantage of his full cooperation. The longer we wait to tell him, the harder it'll be. Finally, if we break the Harmont news to him now, we can frame it favorably to us, ie: we were attacked, defended ourselves and the other guy had a nuclear shield. This is preferable to someone else getting to him first and telling him we were the nuke culprit, correct?

I think anons have a huge secrecy boner in this quest, as well as an us vs the world feeling, and it's putting us at a disadvantage, and honestly is quite boring. It's time to put that aside, we're in trouble here and could use some help.
>>
>>2033357

>Him not knowing means we can't gain the far, far greater advantage of his full cooperation.

Impossible to gain that advantage for a meaningful period of time.

>I think anons have a huge secrecy boner in this quest

For good reason. Though our secrecy being fucked is only showing how important that secrecy was in the first place.

Also, being too close to Alex would severely limit our abilities to act outside the law. Do you think, for example, that Alex would be understanding of blasting somebody with the BFG 9000 just to stop them from getting the shiny before us? Because we literally did that less than a week ago.
>>
That's all the time I have for today, unfortunately. I'll be starting next thread in the next day, so please figure out what you want to do the rest of this day.
>>
>>2033380
Meaningful being a few hours? Call him and suggest a team up. We're not under attack right now.

You're forgetting two things:

1. Our partnership doesn't mean we have to be together 24/7. It can be a "If one of us is in trouble we can call the other for backup" kind of deal. We get his help now and maybe have to help him later, not he's constantly by our side monitoring our actions.

2. Alex isn't as white a knight as you make him out to be. He too has made mistakes, messed up, and killed a bunch of people. Pretty sure his current reputation is close to that of the Punisher.

As far as the secrecy goes, people are gonna find out. It's unavoidable at this point. I'm sure some gifted have ways to detect others. The Watcher found us with some unknown method, and the Quester not only did that, he even knew what our power was somehow, and we've never even said that aloud. Not telling the one person we can ally with does not strike me as a smart decision.
>>
>>2033397
Oh right, next thread will go up at around 18 or 19:00 board time, the usual time.
>>
>>2033397

We want to go ahead and start trying to Shape a cure to the plague.
>>
>>2033443
Before that, emulate a doctor and look at what we got from Quarantine 2. Then anonymous submission to the CDC. I don't think OP ever actually had us do that.
>>
>>2033397
Read the scientific literature the send then it off anonymously after we copied the info. Then call alex for help to track down the watcher.

>>2033453
We are already emulating a scientist from half-life 2 to read it.
>>
We should definetly emulate the halflife 2 scientist and dragoon our dragon spirit.

If we find a way to fix the virus then we need to fix it ourselves and not try to send it to the government. thats gonna raise a lot of attention from the taskforce.
Another idea, we need better surveilance so talking, inteligent, loyal birds or some shit.
>>
We need to stop wanking around and find the watcher asap. It took him just 4 days to find us after Harmont got nuked. Who knows how long it will take for him to find us again.
>>
>>2033804

Will you please stop suggesting the whole dragoon thing, I'm pretty sure none of us are cool with nuking our dragon for some bullshit time constricted power. He's proven his worth so fuck off.

The virus has got to go and let's try to combine that with some scouter scouting. We also need to stop wasting tributes
>>
>>2033972
What do you mean by wasting tributes? Its not like we can choose exactly what we want and we need to keep "wasting" tributes to eventually get that kind of power.
>>
>>2033931
And how do you suggest we do that, huh?
>>
>>2034068
Ask the other Alex for help, its why we tried making friends with him. I don't see what the problem with asking him for help in tracking down another gifted.
>>
>>2034071
I support that. Other anons want to keep him in the dark because it gives us some kind of advantage? I don't really get it, seems to me like having him helping us would be an actual advantage. Anyway, I tried yesterday but kept getting vetoed. Hopefully today we have a more sensible crowd with less of a shadowrun fetish.
>>
>>2033931

No. We got the hellraiser puzzle box before Harmont. He's known about us for awhile I would assume.

>>2033995

Its really quite simple. If we get 4 tributes a day and only use 2, well that's a fucking waste isn't it?

>>2034074

We aren't asking for his help as insofar we don't know how he'll react to everything we tell him. Nuking a town and fighting terminators might be a bit much for him to take in. Its a lot different then stabbing your common mafia thug.

>Tribute: Bahamut Lagoon.

Let's find us a new home
>>
>>2034500
Worst case reasonable scenario is he says he doesn't want to get involved. Best case, we team up with another gifted.
>>
>>2033972
Im agreeing with the anon that wanted to dragoon.
this might come as a shock to you but we can easily make more with just a goddamn lizard and a shaper charge, fuck, we could make an army of them just by using the charge once a day.
you're the only one i see bitching about not doing it so fuck the fuck off.
>>
>>2033972

We have a better minion to shape now, besides we shaped the dragon for four days straight for the express purpose of using him as a dragoon spirit.

>bullshit time constricted
ALL of our powers are bullshit "fill in the blank" restricted. Sacrificing a minion for a new power we can keep using is an excellent expenditure of resources, particularly when we just got a better one (Charizard).

>>2034500
Are we sure the hellraiser puzzle box came from the watcher? It could have come from the leaf.

Also, reminder that we only have so many games to use total, we shouldn't rush to hit that and then have nothing left.
>>
>>2034854
Do you mean the charizard? I wouldn't mind killing off our dragon when we start shaping charizard to become even more powerful that the dragon.
>>
>>2034872

Yes, I mean the Charizard. As soon as we got it I immediately wanted to start shaping it. The Charizard is pre-trained and way better than some dragon that we made ourselves, especially since it can be carried around with us wherever we go.

Dragoon spirit the dragon, and proceed to shape the Charizard into an incredibly powerful force to be reckoned with.
>>
>>2034889
Here we go.
>>
>>2009894
>well done
I liked this quest so much, but I guess it can't be helped.
