You and Oliver face off against each other in the broken down warehouse. A crowd has gathered around you after seeing the previous two battles, and they eagerly anticipate the third. Silas counts down and then announces the start of the match. Oliver throws out a pokeball, and you do the same.

Koffing erupts from your pokeball and floats languidly toward the opponent, which is soon revealed to be Hippopotas. The little tan creature begins streaming sand from its back and looks at Koffing with determination. You make your command.

"Psybeam"

"Yawn"

Koffing closes his eyes and begins charging his psychic power at your command. He launches off a blast of energy at his opponent for a solid attack. The Hippopotas takes the hit well and seems little worse for wear, then opens his massive mouth in a huge yawn, emitting a cloud of white gas into the air. Koffing manages to avoid a great deal of it, and your unsure whether or not it will take effect.

Hoping to whittle away at your bulky opponent, you call out for poison gas. Koffing begins releasing his toxic vapors around the battlefield. He releases a lot of gas, but much of it drifts out a nearby window. Hippopotas is unaffected, and the creature launches itself toward Koffing with dark energy in its gaping maw. It closes its jaws shut around your pokemon, dealing a small amount of damage. Koffing is still in great shape, but he's starting to look very sleepy.

You call out for another psybeam, and Koffing closes his eyes in focus yet again. The Hippopotas rushes in for another bite and is promptly blasted with the psybeam directly on his head. The attack dealt a good deal of damage and the tan pokemon staggers around in apparent confusion for a moment. He rights himself and manages to connect with his bite. It's a solid hit, but it doesn't hurt Koffing much. Your pokemon is going strong still, but the effects of the sandstorm have taken their toll on him alongside Oliver's attacks. Also, his eyes have remained closed since he fired his attack, you think he may be sleeping.

"Gear grind," Oliver calls out

"Earth Power"

Deino goes to work, charging her energy and focusing on the approaching gear pokemon. As Klink comes close, the ground underneath of him erupts upward and coats him in rubble and earth from deep below the concrete floor. The crowds around you gasp with the technique, but Oliver stares anxiously and looks for Klink. The steel pokemon flies out from the cloud and grinds its body into Deino, delivering two solid hits.

Your dragon pokemon definitely felt that blow, and she is panting. Klink looks like it is only barely hanging on, but Oliver is beaming and cheering it on.

At your command, Deino blasts a blue ball of fire at the steel pokemon. Just after it hits, Oliver recalls his fainting pokemon and throws out another pokeball. Out comes Hippopotas, who begins streaming sand back onto the battlefield, revitalizing the sandstorm which had faded a few minutes ago. It whips Deino, who is still in fighting shape. The Hippopotas looks a little worse, but it should still have some fight in it.

"Dragonbreath"

"Yawn"

The two pokemon approach each other, Deino rushing swiftly and Hippopotas lumbering along. Deino fires off a cone of hazy blue energy from its mouth toward Oliver's pokemon. The Hippopotas is blasted with the energy and slows down a lot, then opens up its mouth and exhales a cloud into Deino's face. The tan pokemon twitches, freezing up and panting heavily. It's been damaged a lot by the powerful blast. Deino is mostly fine, though the sandstorm whips at her. She looks very drowsy though.

You nearly call out for confusion, but you change your mind at the last minute and order a magnet rise. Oliver has commanded Nidoqueen to bite once again, and the big blue beast bears down on your Metang. The steel type levitates upward as Nidoqueen bites down, mitigating the hit. It still hurt, but Metang is still in pretty good shape.

Nidoqueen and Metang are close, and your pokemon tries to get some distance. Nidoqueen comes down hard on him this time, and unleashes a sold bite on his left shoulder. Metang grabs onto her and stares her down for a second before unleashing a confusion at her face. She pushes him back into the dirt an regroups. Nidoqueen came out of that one with a lot less damage than you were expecting, while Metang only has a hit or two left.

The two pokemon charge at each other again with determination in their eyes, Unfortunately for you, Nidoqueen is fast and her attack hits directly. Metang just barely holds on after the blow, and he flinches slightly. He launches off his own attack right back at the beast standing over him. Its a good hit, but Nidoqueen is still looking fairly strong. You know how the next move will go, but Metang still stands with as much strength as he can muster.

You feel totally in sync with Metangas you command him to use ice punch. You know he's slower but you feel he has a plan to make this worth him holding on. As Nidoqueen comes down with a bite in a now familiar pattern, Metand charges up the icy energy in his fists. She slams down onto his shoulder and he rolls around with his last burst of energy, punching her in the neck with the frosty fist.

Metang is out of the fight, and you pull him back to his ball, but Oliver and his Nidoqueen both look shocked. The big blue pokemon looks like she felt that more than both of the confusions. She is one tough creature though, and still seems to be at half strength. And with two sleeping pokemon in various states of injury, you only have a chance.

"Deino, wake up use earth power"

"Another ice beam, Nidoqueen!"

Deino shakes her head briefly at your call, but she is unable to wake up. Nidoqueen blasts off her ice beam, striking Deino on the chest for a super effective hit. Deino is hurt badly by the blow, but she still has some energy left. Nidoqueen may be faster than Deino though, and this next hit may be your last.

You know its now or never, so you command Deino to wake up and use earth power. Nidoqueen is charging up her ice beam again. Deino attempts to carry out your command, but the enemy pokemon is just too fast. The beam flies forward and strikes your pokemon, knocking her out. You recall her and Oliver runs over to Nidoqueen, shouting and jumping up and down. After he offers her some congratulations and gives the creature a hug, he recalls her and comes over to meet you.

"Man, what a match," he says, smiling wide, "I can't believe I finally beat you."

You give your friend a pat on the back and congratulate him on his win. Mina and Silas come over and offer their excited commentary, with the former taking your arm into hers and offering some encouragement. It's getting late and Silas has to meet back with his team, but he invites your group along.

>Go with Silas and meet his team
>Go elsewhere (Gym, shops, etc)
>Stay here and train some more
>something else

Visit the nearest Pokemon Center, take care of everybody first and foremost. Maybe take this opportunity to equip items.

Before making any further plans, you suggest regrouping at the nearby pokemon center. The four of you make your way out of the training grounds and away from the warehouse district. You get there in short order and you each leave your pokemon with the attendant. You sit with your classmates and discuss your plans for a time. Oliver seems to notice something, then goes taking off out the front door of the pokemon center.
