I am Avari, a scavenger in the depths of space. Right now my ship is drifting past a cluster of Kirri hiveships in silent mode.

I am in hostile space, outnumbered, and a cosmic horror is swomming through the nebula towards anything that gives off signals.

The Lost Fleet of the Salvage King lies ahead. A group of legendary derelicts.

I drift towards them, anxious, hoping... Perhaps I won't be another spacer that meets their end.

>continuing.

As I approach the vast fleet, I see I've misjudged. The larger vessel is not, in fact, a massive starship surrounded by derelict escorts, but a worldship.

The hull is so massive I can spot an atmospheric layer on the edge. Just from here I can tell this ship could smash into Oreco and not even notice.

A titan of a ship, surrounded by a fleet of giant vessels. I recognize the shapes... They are the same warships the Republic used to take so much of the galaxy. The 'invincible starcruisers.' The worldship in the center must be the flagship.

It was here that the Salvage King ruled over his fleet of scrappers and pirates. And it was here he was betrayed, where his legend ended.

I can't just dock in one of these cruisers and take command, there's a special lock. But the worldship might have some answers... I can see a large hole in one side, at least a hundred miles wide. I could probably enter the worldship from there. Lights flicker... The thing is still powered...

>enter the ancient worldship
>Leave. With the matter eater and Kirri nearby, I might get in a lot of trouble.
>scan the worldship first.

Scan the worldship.

My sensors pick through the worldship nearby. Systems for life support are online, and a few unidentifiable systems, but no weapons are active, and there are no signs of life... well, in the ship around the hole.

My ship's sensors aren't like those of a terraformer ship, I can't scan entire planets for life, and this thing is bigger than Firios.

A look back shows one of the kirri hiveships flicker on. It moves slowly away from the other, but not towards me.

In fact, it's moving towards the matter eater. I see weapons systems powering up.

The other hiveships flicker awake too, following the leader. They're distracted, now's a good time to sneak in.

I fly into the hole, activating the barest minimum. There is no indication I was spotted as the kirri engage the monstrosity. I look around the gaping hole for starships to traverse. Hundreds of tiny glowing dots mark various windows and devices, but none react to my ship. I think I see one turn off out the corner of my eye, but I'm not picking up any communications.

A light shines ahead. It seems the door in was left open. What greets me... is a great tube.

To be fair, it's like a planet lining the inside of this tube. My entrance point is a city of some sort. In the center, a great pillar of light mimics the sun, slow panels around it covering half the 'planet' in day and night. The hole where I flew through has a city around it. I soon see why it was left open. The hole is closing as the world turns.

Safely inside, I turn on more systems. Nothing that would send a signal flare. In the distance on one end I note a lot of electrical activity. Possibly the command center.

The city below is devoid of life. I can detect birds and mammals in the greenery, and some smaller creatures in the city, as well as fish in the ocean... but nothing like sentient life in the city.

The other end has a lot of heat signatures. Possibly where the reactors that power this titan lay.

>fly to the command and land.

I fly for hours. Atmospheric heat builds on the ship hull as I try to stay near the center. Finally, the tube ends with a vast wall. Hundreds of landing bays sit open, And I pick s smaller one to land in. No need to take a big one.

As My ship gently touches the dusty floor, I check the sensors. There's nothing. Well, aside from breathable air. I equip my tractor beam just in case. My pistol is good and all, but I simply feel safer with the gauntlet encasing my fist.

My boots touch the floor of the landing bay. No reaction.. I slide up to the door... and it doesn't open.

Well, why would it, right? I manage to wedge it open with some tools from the ship, and step into a well-lit white hallway.

The light is blinding. I'm used to dingy lights, not whatever these things are. Burning since the ship was last manned... I feel a shiver at the thought of being alone in this massive ship.

I mean, the lost fleet... was manned at one point. What happened to the original owners before the salvage king? This ship isn't haunted, right?

A terminal glows softly nearby. I can also see some signs leading to an observation deck and 'transit.'

I sneak up to the terminal. Something moves in the corner of my eye, but all I see is empty white halls, well lit.

The terminal glows blue. I can read it! it's using the same text the Republic uses- wait, is the Republic's text just Pyresian symbols? The screen responds to my touch. I look up, swearing I saw movement from my other eye.

Is this place haunted?!

The terminal offers commands:
- User History
- Add New User
- Systems Diagnostic
- Power Off Terminal.

Wait, why was it on?
>Pick command (choose one)

I select the systems diagnostic.

Pyresian Star Diagnostics.
>Non-Pyresian DNA detected on user. Cease activity and head to medbay immediately for cleansing, Continued use will cause this computer to lock out the user.

-All systems are in running order.

Active:
- Medical
- Life Support
- Internal lighting
- Main Reactor
- Solar Core
- Homeworld surface
- Transit Systems

Inactive:
- Weapons
- Fleet Control
- Defense Drones
- Engines

Homeworld? Did the makers of this ship cannibalize their planet to make this massive vessel?

There's more movement again, approaching me, but when I look at it, it's gone. I can feel the hairs standing on the back of my neck.

Apparently this ship can control all the Pyresian ships the Republic uses, but it also looks like only a Pyresian CAN access these systems.

I quietly draw my gun. I'm going to shoot at whatever is around here...
>Try to keep using the terminal
>head towards the observation deck.

>get the hell out of this place.

There's got to be other ports we can use that aren't haunted with spooky spooky space ghosts.
