In both the western and easter continents, they tend to use thick leather for most footwear soles, while for higher class footwear, they use either thick cloth (or even multi-layered silk) for high class individuals, while in the eastern continent we're using either rope, tough fibers, or leather.

Just seems curious considering the locals don't even tend to use shoes at all here...
