You are Alexander Hickory, an 18 year old junior professor and graduate from the prestigious Erbaum Academy. You are currently on a self-directed research journey with two other junior professors in the hopes of achieving greatness in your respective fields. Your primary goal is to study pokemon physiology and are particularly interested in the study of strange and unique characteristics.

"Grimer, take cover," you shout out.

"Take it out with a charge beam," you hear Kelvin call.

Grimer makes use of the still present clouds of toxic smoke on the battlefield. He does a fairly good job of concealing himself, and this allows the electrical beam to coast over his head. Porygon-Z begins to sputter and shift, making dinging sounds and freezing up, then Kelvin returns it to its pokeball. It seems you've managed to win a difficult battle, and the two super nerds approach you with blank expressions before offering polite congratulations.

"Those pokemon are amazing," says Kelvin finally, "Could you tell me where you found them?"

"Yeah, those poison types are pretty great," Marvin adds, joining in, "If only I had caught that Magnemite back north."

The three of you discuss the battle, and you tell Kelvin about the waste treatment facility in Aulder. You eventually turn to the subject of your reward. You receive the charge beam TM from Marvin, he tells you to load it into a PC with your pokemon and that if you're lucky it will work twice.

Kelvin's part of the reward is his research notes on Porygon and its evolutions, which Marvin is quick to tell you he also contributed to. There is a lot of data on the odd process by which a Porygon is created, and that the initial Porygon program was funded by Silph Co. twenty-five years ago, and involved multiple supercomputers, hologram generators, and some ditto.

The pokemon have the ability to breed and have such begun to be present around the world in recent years, though they are still very rare. The notes on their physiology show that they can be modified slightly, hence the creation of Porygon-Z. There are also some files on a special disk he tells you will boost the conversion moves of a Porygon holding it.

You briefly ask the two if they have seen any Beldum, with Marvin shaking his head and Kelvin thinking briefly before doing the same.

"I'd love to get a hold of one of them," Kelvin tells you, "I'll call if I find any on my travels, but they're almost unheard of south of Nadia"

You thank them and say your goodbyes, walking over to the psychic from before. He is wearing odd flowing purple clothes and still working on bending that spoon. He catch him open one eye briefly as you approach before closing it.

"Welcome traveller," he tells you in a dreamy voice, "Do you seek enlightenment, or perhaps a battle. The latter can lead to the former of course."

Mina catches his eye, and he almost leaps toward her.

"Oh, my lady," he says, with exaggerated deference, "So beautiful is your aura, you must surely have the gift."

"O-oh, I never knew," she says, taken aback.

"Well, if you think she's got a gift you ought to see for yourself," you say, "In battle."

Mina looks over to you for reassurance, and you give her a smile and a nod. The psychic seems a less amused, but quickly regroups.

"I would not want to damage the lady's pokemon," he starts, but is cut off.

"You don't have to worry about that," Mina says, looking irritated with him, "Two on two, standard bet. Let's go."

He looks a little flabbergasted, but he shrugs his shoulders and takes his position. You count them down, and they both throw out their pokeballs. Mina has chosen Duskull and the psychic has sent out a Kadabra. The trainers begin shouting their commands, and the Kadabra zips across the battlefield and launches a confusion.

Duskull is nonplussed, the attack only hurt a little and he retaliates with a night shade. It does more damage than you expected, and the Kadabra seems pretty drained. The trainers shout out commands, and Duskull vanishes into a shadow. Kadabra looks around for him to no avail. The ghost pops out directly underneath Kadabra, knocking him out with a shadow sneak attack.

The psychic looks very nervous at Duskull's display, throwing out his second pokeball with a look of reluctance. You soon see why, as a tiny Spoink pops out onto the battlefield. Duskull knocks it out with a single shadow sneak attack, and the psychic is flabbergasted, He offers a quick congratulation and then tries to excuse himself.

As the psychic slinks away, you wrap your arms around Mina and kiss her on the cheek. You congratulate her on such a swift and decisive victory, you're genuinely impressed. She's appreciative and reciprocates your affections, but says it was nothing special since that guy was obviously just a big talker.

As you walk over to see the end of Oliver's battle, his Grimer narrowly winning against a Roselia, you hand her the reaper cloth you just purchased. She's unsure what it's for at first, but thanks you warmly. When you explain what it is, her face lights up with excitement. She gives it to Duskull right away, and he looks kind of funny with the oversized cloak.

Oliver is chatting with his opponent, an attractive green-haired woman with a pokemon league hat on. She keeps laughing and touching his arm, but he just keeps going on about the battle. From what you hear, it was a close one.

The girl, who's name is Kendra, accompanies your party to the pokemon center and you all heal up your pokemon. You learn she has pokemon league ambitions, and that she sure is impressed with your friend being able to beat her five pokemon with just his three.

"I'm going to to and do a little training," you tell your friends, and Oliver offers to join you.

You think for a moment, then pull Oliver aside, "I think you ought to train with Kendra. I'm going to go work with Mina for a while. She seems to like you, so spend some time with her."

He seems a little unsure, but then smiles, "Yeah, she'd be a great contact for the league!"

The four of you go your separate ways and you and Mina go behind the pokemon center to an old unused paved lot. You release Grimer and Koffing first, then take out your pokedex. You search the MoveDex for a video explaining the procedure for self-destruct and open it for the two poison pokemon. While they watch, you explain some basic training maneuvers that you think will benefit ghost pokemon to Mina, and help her get set up.

After your confident she has the exercises down, you approach your pokemon. The video is wrapping up and you ask Koffing if he has it. He gives you an affirmative look and you release Larvitar and Beldum. Lining up your pokemon in a two on two formation. You explain your experiment and set up your pokedex for recording. At your command, Koffing prepares to self-destruct while the other three brace themselves.

You observe the events as they occur, Koffing charges energy, which explodes outwards from his body in a massive blast. Your pokemon are barely hit due to his distance and he falls to the ground, energy expended. You see Grimer pulsate and glow, as a wispy smoke-like energy emanates from Koffing and pulls toward Grimer. As Grimer begins to float, you know the experiment worked.

You repeat the video a few times, and compare it with similar data from other trainers. The power of alchemy ability is a strange one, that takes a bit of energy from a fainting pokemon. Grimer with this ability can adapt with the information they gather and temporarily adopt the abilities of fainted allies.

You leave Koffing with the pokemon center attendant and work on training your pokemon.

You call over your two most senior pokemon and explain to them that they will be working on combat maneuvers. You release Deino and call over Grimer, encouraging them to watch their more senior teammates at work. Larvitar and Beldum line up against each other for a mock battle.

You tell them both to go easy, so to make the most of the exercise. They fight each other "hand-to-foot" for a while, avoiding any powered moves. You coach them as they go, giving them pointers on how to make the most of opponents' weak points and openings. After a little while, you have them use their moves at their own discretion.

Beldum takes a screech from Larvitar and goes into a fairly effective take down attack. Larvitar rushes him for a bite, but misses entirely. Beldum charges up a hidden power which he pushes directly at Larvitar. The green pokemon is almost knocked out by the attack and you recall him.

Suddenly, Beldum stands completely erect and emits a strange cry. You walk toward him to check on him, but he simply does it again. There's a lot of reverberation and you can feel the chime in your teeth. Mina walks over concerned, stopping her training, and your phone begins to ring.

You pull out your phone, it's Pine calling. You answer, hoping he can help you with this situation. You start to try to explain that you think Beldum is trying to evolve, but Pine cuts you off and tells you that he already knows.

"Just go to the center and send me Beldum via PC. In a few minutes I'll send him, well them, back as a Metang."

You tell him you want to witness the evolution, and Pine reluctantly agrees. He instructs you on what you need to do, and it's simple enough. Just avoid getting between the two of them and let them do their thing. You receive the pokeball and Pine wishes you luck.

You set up your camcorder and take to the same vacant lot as before with Mina. You throw out the two pokeballs and she squeezes your hand. The two of you watch as the two identical Beldum float toward each other. They beep and click at each other in a rhythmic fashion for a short while while drawing closer. Soon enough they are pressing their eye cases against each other.

The metal of their bodies begins to separate at the point of contact and the internal wires connect with each other. They are now beeping as one in a more complex pattern. The metal flows outward and the two begin to slowly grow as it coats them. In a few minutes, you are looking at a Metang.

You walk up to him and congratulate your starter pokemon on his evolution. He gives you a knowing look and bows slightly before taking off into the air. He charges his energy and fires off the familiar hidden power, then does something similar and begins to levitate. His claws coat in a greyish light and he slashes forth, then fires off a blast of force at a nearby bottle, collapsing it. He is faster, stronger, and more confident than ever.

Beldum has evolved into Metang. He seems to have learned confusion, metal claw, and magnet rise as well.

You call over Deino and Grimer, who march over to you seemingly pumped up by Beldum's display. You start performing exercises and encourage them to follow along with your instructions. As they copy you, you increase the speed and change up the movements. Then you start adding in requirements, like performing certain moves. You keep this up for a good long time and then let them go on their own for a while. They both try to outdo each other, and you take the opportunity to look through your pokedex.

They're performing quite well, so you try to incorporate some moves they ought to be able to learn. You tell Grimer to compress himself, and he is soon performing minimize. Deino picks up roar on the first try, sending Grimer back to its pokeball. Then you pull her aside and begin working on crunch. She's got the basic pretty well, but every so often the dark energy just pulses out in all directions.

You keep your pokemon working for while, and eventually they get tired out. Larvitar and Koffing both seem to have recovered a little bit, and you work on a similar routine as you did with the other two.In short order, Larvitar has learned scary face and Koffing gets the basics of haze. Koffing runs out of steam early, so you work for a little while with Larvitar. He seems to have gotten bigger and grayer recently, and he now works on the beginnings of thrash.

Eventually he too tires, and you head over to the pokemon center to drop off your team for a well deserved rest. While there, you run into Oliver and Kendra. Your friend seems to have finally gotten the message and the two sit with hands intertwined. You and Mina walk over to the pair, who greet you and discuss the day's training and your plans.

Its getting late and you won't have much travel time left unless you hit the road soon. You could always stay her for the night, but you should be able to reach the next pokemon center in Fina Town before its too late if you leave now.

You decide its best to head out now, and you retrieve your pokemon from the pokemon center attendant. You, Oliver, Mina, and Kendra, who is coincidentally going to Fina Town as well, all head out along route 117. You get to know your new traveling companion along the way, learning that she is from the Falia region originally and has gotten both of her two badges since her family moved to the Danat region last year. You make good time along the road, but you are still traveling as the sun sets.

You have some difficulty navigating, and eventually find yourself off the route traveling along a dirt road. You are unsure how long you have been off track. Your group stops to get its barings, when suddenly you hear the roar of a motorcycle. Then another, and you soon realize you are surrounded by three bikers. A fat bald man with an short pudgy girl on one bike and another man who has a mohawk riding the other.

"Hand over your pokemon," the lone man commands, "And no one gets hurt."

You chuckle to yourself and stare down the biker, who looks like he's having second thoughts.

"Metang, use your metal claw."

"Raticate, Crunch. No wait, sucker punch," he shouts, seeming to lose his composure.

It's too late though, his Raticate just sits there confused. Then Metang's massive claw, surrounded by a massive amount of grayish energy, smashes right into its face. The creature is knocked out in one blow, and you can't help but feel there was no way that should have happened.

You glare down at the biker, who now looks absolutely terrified. He throws his money at your feet and gets on his hands and knees. You look around to find your friends doing well, both of them are wrapping up their battles without much difficulty. When the other two see the state the big one is in, they recall their pokemon.

"P-please, stop," he says, practically at your feet, "Don't hurt Raticate any more. We're sorry, we'll be good. You win, we're sorry we messed with your gang boss."

He just goes over more of the same for a while. His friends look absolutely terrified and they come over and perform the same sort of gestures, albeit with a bit less sincerity.

They give you 15,000P and a black sludge, and they seem to be cautiously waiting to see what you will do with them.

The girl and the one with the mohawk nod their heads and get ready to take off, but the fat one stops them. He grabs your hand and bows his head.

"I will give you my word as a man that the three of us will go straight," he says somberly.

He gives you his phone number, telling you he owes you for letting them off so easy, and the three take off back toward the main route. It's easy enough to find your way back, and along the way you find a crying Kendra sitting by the side of the road. She doesn't really notice you, she's really upset.

"I-I'm so s-sorry," she says, "I got really scared when the bikes came and I just started running. I know I should have helped, but I was just so afraid. Please, forgive me."

"Just don't do it again," Mina says with an air of finality.

The four of you make your way along your route, eager to get the night behind you. In one of the longest hours of your life, you manage to arrive in Fina Town with no further issue. Your group checks in to the pokemon center and settles in. You get something quick to eat and everyone trails off to bed, eventually you join them.

The next morning you wake up earlier than anyone else. You chat with a few older men coming in from a morning jog with their pokemon. They are glad to give you the lay of the land. There's not much in town of note besides the pokemon house, which is the local hot spot for trainers. Van Noble runs it, he's something of a local celebrity. He challenged the Falia Elite Four and even got to the champion when he was younger.

You thank them for your time after your phone begins to ring. Excusing yourself, you answer the call. Professor Pine is on the line, and the two of you exchange pleasantries before he notifies you that the Dratini egg you wanted is in your PC box for transfer. He lets you know it'll be another four days before he can send you and Oliver your Dratini back.

we are kinda focused on the study of pokemon that evolve to have more than one head or more than one brain

Beldum evolves by fusing with another beldum, we already took our pokemons to a lab to scan their neural system, we should do that again since beldum evolved so we can compare

You decide not to hesitate, and call up the pokemaniac you met a few days ago. It rings several times before he answers, his voice creaky and tired. You remind him of who you are and he remembers immediately.

"I'm calling you about a Dratini," you say, "If you're still interested in trading for slowpoke."

He practically bursts your eardrum with his excited response. The whole process takes a while since he has to get to a pokemon center to use their PC for transfer. He chats with you about the latest episodes of some pokemon anime you don't follow, interspersed with repeated expressions of gratitude.

Soon enough the trade is started, you send away the egg in return for a Slowpoke. You thank the pokemaniac, whose name is Kevin as you find out. He tells you he owes you, and asks you call him if you're ever back in Aulder City before ending the call. You take Slowoke outside and asses her. She's actually quite a specimen, you imagine the pokemaniac had her specially bred. You're a little excited to have yet another very rare pokemon, trying not to let your luck get to your head.

She's not very experienced, the most advanced moves she knows are confusion and water gun. and she isn't particularly adept with either. She has almost perfect potential for her species though, not to mention the fairly uncommon ability to regenerate. She's calm and very affectionate with you, seeming to perhaps be a bit neglected.

Oliver seems to have woken up, and he walks toward you with a cup of coffee. You sip it, and it's just to your specifications. He really is a good friend.

"Thanks for not being to hard on Kendra," he tells you and you wave him off.

You tell him about your new pokemon and he's in awe, he never thought he'd see a Slowpoke and he asks if you're going to breed her. You're open but noncommittal, the road isn't the place to breed pokemon after all. You discuss your plans for the day.

You tell your friend you want to get your new pokemon evaluated and you go your separate ways. Oliver goes to work on training, heading off to the pokemon house, while you get to work on your phone and pokedex. You get in touch with Professor Gum and request use of his equipment to gather information on Metang and your Slowpoke. He's glad to help and you transfer the two over for an hour, during which you get a good footing in the existing research.

When the results of the scan and your pokemon come back, you thank the professor and get to work analyzing the data. Slowpoke is like most aqueous mammalian pokemon, having a good deal of fat and a massive lung capacity for diving. The tip of the tail regenerates on all slowpoke, and it noted to be a delicacy, but the pokemon itself uses it as fishing bait.

Neurologically speaking, slowpoke have a much more developed brain than other animal-like pokemon but its activity is slow and limited by innate limiters on the pokemon's mind. The data is interesting and you can't wait to see how it evolves. The research warns you not to force a Slowpoke and Shellder together, stating it could result in the death of the slowpoke in question at worst and nothing at all in most cases.

The Metang research is interesting, as the processors noted in your analysis of Beldum appear mostly merged and working in tandem. Otherwise, the creature is essentially as you would expect two Beldum merged together. The claws have compensated for the presence of the larger body and everything has grown denser and more powerful.

You wrap up your research for now, finding it later in the morning than you had expected it. Mina has been sitting there watching you for you're not sure how long, and waves as you notice her. You embrace her and put your work aside, taking her by the hand and out into the street toward the shops. You get something to eat and browse around. You think to purchase a fishing rod, and inquire at the general store. The shopkeeper tells you he doubts you'll get a quality rod here, but that he has an old one he'd let go for 500P. As for a king's rock, he tells you to either check the trainer shop north of here, which you passed on the way, or else he could order it and have it there by the next morning. Getting it yourself would cost 1,200, while ordering it would be 1,500.

She doesn't want to walk, so she looks up a taxi service and gets the two of you a ride. After about a half an hour of driving, you arrive at the pavilion where you met Kendra, Marvin, and Kelvin the day before.

You make your way into the trainer's shop and find the King's Rock quickly enough, paying the shopkeeper 1,200P and moving on.

Not wasting any more time, you get a ride back to town, making it in about a half hour. You chat with Mina while you hold Slowpoke and get her accustomed to the King's Rock. The little pink creature seems to be taken with Mina, who pets her passively as you ride. You have the driver drop you off by the pokemon house and give him a modest tip for a speedy ride.

You enter and find a plain wide space segmented into four quadrants. You see Oliver standing in the most crowded one, at the front of a group surrounding an older gentleman who is speaking. They are all very attentive, sitting at picnic tables around him and paying close attention. Given the vendors and seating, it seems to be a rest area. Well, you figure you might as well go see what all the fuss is about. You and Mina make your way over to the crowd and towards Oliver. You listen to the man, who is in the middle of a story about a pokemon battle.

"So old Scrafty was up against that damned Glaceon and he was frozen. He's basically beaten and just holding on. Only reason I don't recall him is I know he'd kill me if I did."

The crowd laughs, then returns to rapt attention and he continues, "So the dog-thing comes running at the ice block Scrafty's in and shoots another beam. The thing shatters from the force, but he ain't there."

He pauses, taking a sip from a bottle of water, "And all the while, I'm just shouting 'High jump kick' over and over, not really sure what's happening. Then there's a loud crack and he comes down out of the sky and kicks the fuckin' thing right in the face. And that's how I beat the elite four."

The crowd sort of gasps and murmurs, everyone reacting to the end of the story. The man just thanks everyone and walks off to the training section. You turn your attention to Oliver, and he's pumped up. He grabs Kendra by the hand and runs off to the training section, telling you he needs a battle later.

You follow Oliver and the gentleman over into the training area. Your friend is hard at work with Kendra, putting her through the paces with training exercises. Her Roselia is doing quite well, but her Clefairy and Pikachu are struggling to keep up with Oliver's pokemon. You pull out Slowpoke and Metang, prompting more than a few envious looks and surprised stares. You have your most senior pokemon instruct the new addition on all manner of battlefield tactics and maneuvers. The little pink creature seems to pick up pretty quickly, getting her special moves up to snuff and gaining a lot of experience in the hour or so you work with her. She even picks up the basics of hidden power from Metang, with hers being ground type it seems.

The older man watches your progress and eventually comes over as Slowpoke is winding down. He introduces himself as Van Noble and shakes your hand.

"Doing pretty good for yourself there," he says, appraising your Metang, "Smart to use them to teach each other, fun for the whole family like they say. So you going after badges? I think you could go far, you put your mind to it."

You thank him for the compliment, but you tell him you're a professor. You explain your ambitions and specialties, and he nods approvingly.

"Always liked professors," he says, "Giving out pokemon to kids and keeping the order, good thing that. Still, no reason you couldn't do both"

You shrug and he changes the subject, telling you he could probably teach one of your pokemon a move. He says this is his specialty, and he might even get something to stick that normally wouldn't. He tells you he wouldn't do this for free normally, but says you can call it a job interview.

>Choose a pokemon and a move for it to learn, I'll let you know if it's possible or not. Be reasonable, nothing unique or legendary and nothing that wouldn't make sense for it's physiology (Koffing and Punch moves, Larvitar wing attack, etc)

You have your pokemon take advantage of the exercise equipment for a while, boosting their base power and physical fitness slightly. There are a lot of beautiful women around your age as well as some youngsters and Jr. trainer wannabees.

You release Metang from his pokeball. He stares up expectantly toward you and you have him demonstrate ice punch a few times. He seems to have it down well enough with the nevermeltice still attached after a few minutes of exercises, so you ask him to detach the item.

To both of your surprise, it seems he is unable to detach it. You inspect the chunk of ice to find it has begun to be absorbed into your pokemon's head. He has an idea, and begins to call on his hidden power in both arms at once. The frosty spheres grow over time and the nevermeltice begins to shrink. He reabsorbs the energy and delivers a few solid ice punches, then repeats the gesture until the ice vanishes and his hidden power returns to electric type.

Looks like Metang can use ice punch just fine now, and the nevermeltice has disappeared.

You postulate that since he was bred with unique adaptability and some Porygon ancestors, he has a particular skill with picking up elemental attacks. His body seems to have incorporated the item into itself while it adapted its energy. A Metang learning ice punch is hardly unique, but the ease to which he picked it up is pretty amazing. You write all this up and send it over to Professor Pine for his take.

You have him hold the charcoal and attempt to repeat what you did with the nevermeltice, but he can't seem to get it going in the same way. You have him hold onto it anyway, and practice his hidden power until he tires out.

When he comes out of the pokeball, you note how thick his torso armor is getting, and how gray he is. You have him work alongside Grimer for a while.

You have the two engage in a mock battle of sorts, having Larvitar dodge the slimy pokemon's poison type hits. They don't hurt much but its a good enough incentive for your dinosaur pokemon to keep his speed up. After some time at this, you have Larvitar work on his thrash attack while you give Grimer a black sludge and instruct him on its properties. Shortly after, the poison type demonstrates a fling attack and fires off the item into the thrashing Larvitar's face.

Your pokemon grow tired and you return them to their balls. As it grows later, the crowd begins to thin out. Oliver is still going strong with Kendra, and Mina has been doing a few exercises with her own pokemon.

You release Deino from her pokeball and begin to perform some exercises to warm up. You then work on battlefield maneuvers and discipline for a time, she certainly has come a long way in this department. You have her following your commands perfectly, and then you move on to practicing her bite to improve it into crunch. She has a lot more control, though her power still causes the technique to turn into a dark pulse from time to time. You work on this dark energy control a bit longer, thinking it may help her out if you give her over to Van to learn nasty plot.

You keep at it for a while and she is showing a lot of skill and control. She does eventually get tired and you recall her to her pokeball. There's only Koffing left to train, so you release him as well and start to go through a series of exercises similar to those you used with your other pokemon. You also have him work on perfecting haze once he's gotten all he can from the physical exercise. He gets that technique battle ready in about an hour.

Your pokemon are tired out, and so are those of your companions, so you make your way over to the local pokemon center. There's a few hours left that you could squeeze something in, or you could rest up and hit the road early the next morning.

You talk with your friends about the days' events and Oliver talks to you at great length about how inspired he was by Van's story an how he can't wait to hit the next gym. He's disappointed that he won't have a chance to train his Dratini for a while, and he feels like he's hitting a new plateau with his training. You think you know what he means, you feel it as well. He talks about how he's going to miss training with Kendra once they go their separate ways in Ro City, and she looks wistful and sad.

Mina lets you know she thinks her Gastly is close to evolving, and that she's working hard to keep up with the two of you. She admits she needs to catch a new pokemon, and asks if you're open to looking for one in the desert along the next route. You are fully supportive of course, and she smiles brightly and kisses you.

You enjoy a relaxing evening of low-key discussion with your friends. Ro City and Route 117 South lie ahead of you. The route is long and perilous at points, as much of it adjoins the Great Zatuy Desert. Ro City is a city of travelers known to be a place where one can start a new life, it also houses numerous archeological expeditions to the desert ruins. Oliver tells you of the local gym leader, a mysterious flying type specialist known simply as Wing.

You go off to bed with thoughts scrambling in your head of the numerous avenues available to you.

Are there gonna be megas and Z-moves in this quest? I think we covered it, but I forgot.

Are we going to be able to teach Deino nasty plot after we leave or do we have to do it now?

We should see if we can't get Mina a Fletchling and a Sandile in this desert. A Larvesta would be great for us too. Are those gonna be around the desert?
Mina might also benefit from the company of one of our poison types. Just sayin'.

There can be megas and z-moves if you research that. Mega pokemon would be late game high investment stuff while z-moves aren't nearly as rare and you already know of them IC.

You got Van's number, so training a move would involve sending him the pokemon and giving it a day or so depending on the difficulty of the move.

There are definitely Sandile in the desert, there are no Fletching though. Larvesta are rare but not unheard of this far west and this would be the place.

>Welcome to another episode of the Pokemon Show
This episode: Motherfucking magnets, how do the work?

To explain the phenomena of Magnemite, we must first take a look at how they are created.
>>
>>1960305
>Magnemite
The first part of a Magnemite, the body, is made up of a premier ball that was immediatly discarded after failing to catch a pokemon. Due to the sheet number of these ‘limited’ items, there are a lot of this pokemon.

The next step has never been recorded, however, it is assumed that the already faulty structure of the ball was damaged by the failure, thus breaking the containment of the pocket dimension to an extent and charging a magnetic force with electrical currents running through the metal exterior.

This then attracts various metallic objects towards the premier ball, which fuse with the casing and add a semblence of sentience to the ball, perhaps legitimately creating a sentient being through unknown means.

However, this stage is very unstable, and can be unpredictable. The next stage, Magneton, is far more stable of a pokemon.
>>
>>1960326
>Magneton
An ‘evolved’ version of Magnemite, in truth simply a few premier ball Magnemites who became trapped With each other due to the large amount of magnetic force that constantly surrounds them.

Unable to move farther away than a few inches, this group of pokemon are actually far more stable of a form than the previous one, due to the balance in magnetic current. This version is capable of focusing more power into moves due to combine processing, as well as being capable of more intricate maneuvers despite consisting of 3 separate parts.

This form, however more stable it is, pales in comparison to the final evolution in this chain, the Magnezone.
>>
>>1960369
>Magnezone
An aberration in the Magnemite chain of evolutions. A form not created by combining more forms into one, but by training and strengthening a Magneton in an area with a large amount of natural magnetism, as magnetism produced artificially seems to be unable to mutate the base premier balls to this level.

It is unknown if Magnezone evolves from a previously unknown secondary magnetic force, or if perhaps the pokemon themselves are simply unable to evolve without experiencing some kind of external aberration. However, Magnezone is known for one particular feature in addition to the 3 previous Magneton bodies; a large middle, modular saucer shape.

This saucer holds a large amount of power. The amount stored with rivals that of many major power plants across the globe. However, the reason why the saucer appears is unknown. Previously, the body of Magneton was comprised of three original Magnemites, forming a stable trinity. It is theorized that these Magnemites forming Magnezone scavenged parts from their interior and shifted them to create a singular, main control station.

While widely accepted, this theory is not popular among owners of Magnemites due to the reasoning that without a functional inner portion, the original premier ball bodies became husks of their former self, sacrificing their own conscious thought for the potential to create a new, more powerful being. Due to this fact, many trainers refuse to train their Magnetons in locations with large amounts of magnetism.

You awake at the crack of dawn, entering into the main lobby of a mostly empty pokemon center. The night nurse looks a little over-caffeinated, clicking madly at a computer in the corner without looking up. You get a few sandwiches for a to-go breakfast along with coffee for your team. Oliver has just entered the area, and he tells you the girls should be out shortly.

Sure enough, they pop out and you give them their share of the morning meal. You make your way out from the center and toward the south of the little town. Within a few minutes you are back on route 117, and an hour after that the road changes from paved to dirt. It's almost a desert, and you imagine it will transition fully as you go. You have a few hours of travel and no fixed schedule or appointments in Ro City, so you're free to take your time.

You decide to head off-route to look for some pokemon and your traveling party is enthused. The four of you walk a way into desert, and you happen upon a lot of Sandshrew with some Cacnea, Trapinch, and Sandile thrown in the mix from time to time. You see a herd of Hipopotas out in the distance and stop to regroup. Oliver wants to catch a few pokemon, so he and Kendra go toward the herd first. Mina takes you by the hand as you're about to walk off with them.

She tells you she has a feeling, and she walks out toward the desert with you in tow. After a few minutes of absolute nothing, you are about to tell her you should turn back. Suddenly she stops and crouches down in the sand, moving it around. There is an entryway down a circular opening with a ladder, she starts climbing down.

Despite your misgivings, you follow her into the hole. You eventually reach the bottom and pass through an archway to a massive room with still burning fires. Mina goes frantic at the discovery, and starts shouting. The fires start to move, and you realize they aren't fires at all. They're bugs, Larvesta if you recall correctly, and there are at least a dozen of them.

You grab Mina and pull her into the shadows, one hand on her waist and the other around her ample breasts. You shush her and the two of you duck down. Instincts you didn't know you had take over and your body starts moving, she just follows your lead. You manage to avoid detection by any of the bugs, who have been effectively misdirected. You creep around them, appraising them and finding an excellent specimen among their number. Its toward the back of the group luckily, and the others are distracted by the commotion you made by the entrance.

You throw out a great ball, and it takes the creature by surprise. In a few seconds, it clicks closed and you have yourself a Larvesta. The others have taken notice of your maneuver and are coming back towards you.

You just go with your instincts, they got you here and you're sure they can get you back. Grabbing your girlfriend once again, you manage to slip back along the shadows outlining the room toward the way you came in. The Larvesta have once again fallen for your sly maneuver and miss you entirely. Soon you're far enough away from the swarm and near the ladder you came in. You go back up and Mina reluctantly accompanies you to the top.

"I know, I know.," she tells you once you hit open air, "We really shouldn't go poking around in there, but I can hardly stop myself from going back."

You just laugh, she's nothing if not enthusiastic about her work. You two head back toward where you left Oliver. It's easy enough to find him, he and Kendra didn't have as much luck avoiding the herd of Hippopatas as you had with the Larvesta. They are currently fighting them off without too much trouble.

You toss out Slowpoke's pokeball and have her help Oliver mop up the rest of the herd. Seeing the enemy reinforcements are shooting water all over is enough to send the herd running in the other direction. Oliver and Kendra walk up to you, and they tell you they managed to catch themselves some Hipopotas in the fight. You fill them in on the mysterious ruin an Oliver is psyched to catch a Larvesta. Kendra is much less enthused, turning ghostly white at the idea of actually going into the dark, pokemon-infested ruin. You decide to at least wait until you're prepared, and Mina tells you that she has a contact in Ro that may be able to help, so you leave it at that.

You keep looking for pokemon for a while, and your group each have some pokemon they want to catch in the area. You watch as Oliver scouts out the pokemon, finding Cacnea, Trapinch, and a Sandile all with excellent potential for Kendra. She passes over all but the Trapinch, and he takes the other two for himself. In the process, you come across a lone crying Cubone which Mina first befriends and then captures.

You decide to just focus on the road ahead and get to Ro City as soon as possible. While focusing on the road, you come across some unusually soft sand. Deciding to take a closer look, you find a star piece and manage to collect the sand for pokemon use. Within a few hours you make it to the city limits. Before you is the urban sprawl of Ro, no big buildings just a lot of small ones. You come in through a warehouse district, and are eventually directed to the nearest pokemon center. Leaving your pokemon with the attendant, you spy a few local trainers and they are glad to give you a rundown of the city.

You learn the location of the gym, as well as a few training hotspots. The local power plant is known to house electric pokemon and there are some Zigzagoon and Pidgey around the public parks. There's also a very active nightlife in the city, and its host to many new and trendy clubs, bars, and restaurants. It seems the mayor, a woman named Lyra, has high ambitions for the place to eventually outpace Leva City and even someday come to rival the big Falian cities. Good luck with that, you think to yourself.

Everyone takes some time to rest and get a meal in, then your group discusses their further plans. Mina wants to head off to the local archaeological research center as soon as possible to look for her contact. Oliver and Kendra are going to the gym in the meantime, at least to defeat the requisite Jr. trainers.

You decide you're going to stick with Mina for now, so you wish Oliver and Kendra luck on their challenge and arrange to meet later on in the day. You and Mina walk hand in hand back toward the warehouse district, oddly the same district housing the historical center. When you eventually arrive, you see the building is a buzz with activity, and a few nearby warehouses seem to be in use by the facility. All the commotion is out of place in the sparsely peopled district, and you would have never guessed this was here on your own.

You and Mina walk in to the main building and she seems to shrink, backing up to a wall. She looks extremely anxious, but calms herself and starts asking for directions on finding her contact from some young researchers who don't seem too busy. At her direction, you make your way out of the building and down the street, she tells you you're going to the warehouse that his expedition is operation out of. Evidently the guy is some kind of full-blown ruin hunting archeologist. You get there without any trouble and she soon finds her contact.

Your first thought is that he is very handsome, your second is you finding yourself glad she isn't here without you. He introduces himself as Vincent Davis with a firm handshake to you and then turns toward Mina.

"You must be the one the professor was telling me about. You're here to compare the local sites with a discovery in the mountains, right?"

"Yes, but its not just that. I think we may have found something in the desert through here, a chamber filled with Larvesta," she explains, "We had to turn back for our own safety, but I think we should go back before the sands cover it again."

"Yes," he says, looking pensive, "That would be wise, we should embark tomorrow, early in the morning."

She looks extremely excited until she hears the last four words, but shakes her head and agrees. The two of them start talking about mercian markings and symbology, and you understand the gist of what they're describing. As they go on, you find yourself getting lost in all the technical information, until they start talking about the legendary pokemon.

"So you think it's a legendary pokemon chamber," you hear Mina ask.

"Yeah, no doubt," He says, scratching his chin, "We're going to need to be extremely careful, they can get dangerous."

"Wait, there's a legendary pokemon," you ask cutting in.

"Not exactly," Mina explains, "It's more of a local guardian, in this case a Volcarona. These guys were commonly used for this, same with Dragonite and other very powerful pokemon."

"That's not to say you couldn't find something we would consider legendary," Vincent says, "But that would be one hell of a discovery."

You think on this for a while as Mina and Vincent wrap up their conversation. You say your goodbyes and leave the warehouse, finding the sun has already started to go down. You make your way back to the pokemon center to meet Oliver, who has yet to arrive.
>>
>>1960823

It's just as well, so you and Mina enjoy your time together while you wait. She's extremely grateful to you for coming along with her, and expresses this fact when you steal away to an unoccupied room far from prying eyes. Later as you're sitting together in the common area, she looks up at you with her large grey-blue eyes.

"I really can't thank you enough for all your help," she says, then kisses you, "You're a really good boyfriend. That's why, I want to tell you..."

She is cut off by Oliver bursting through the doors of the pokemon center, he is alone.
