Last time we were engaged in a campaign in Ranelirda, where the nations of Setyrias stand together in an alliance against the rising threat of the Vast. We raided the lair of the necromancer Whitesnow, killing her at last and then proceeded to journey to the forested Corvoni front, where the Roggarian army, along with local forces, unsuccessfully confronted an army of the Felinkot, commanded by the Vast God of Fire himself.
A batch of reinforcements is already underway from Roggar and will reach Ranelirda's shores in the next month.

The House of Lords will accept proposals from the research commitee for consideration in which project to support.

Give ideas for technological developments. You have a free roam on this, as long as the idea makes sense. After some considerations, a vote will be held.
>>
>>1944877
The Golemmancer's of Gobbopolis have two ideas to put forward to the Council of Lords.

The first is the Magi-Cart rail system, by attaching large trains of self moving carts onto rails they can move with little input allowing large amounts of goods to be moved quickly and efficiently from place to place. With more resources and research we could find the most efficient way to run them and build lines connecting the major cities or Roggar.

The second choice is Elemental Cannons by using advanced enchanting and elemental magics we can construction massive cannon "wands" allowing us to funnel mana from low level casters into a massive cannon burst of elemental magic.
>>
>>1944887
"This elemental cannon scheme of yours sounds like just the kind of big idea we need right now.
I back it, and as you all you know I back the best ideas."

The proposal for elemental cannons has been accepted. They are essentially the opposite of a wand, having (usually) many casters pouring their efforts together into a joint attack, the capacity of which goes beyond what any one of them could achieve or even of what their individual spells together would produce.

We turn our attention back west. It's 15.8.816. You are at the Roggarian army camp - our Kingdom has about fifty-two thousand fighting men here left. Our engagement against the Fire God was unsuccessful and we had to withdraw. The southern Corvoni army is of a roughly equal size to ours. There's the Lursari army - about five thousand remaining fighters - northwest of us and the Northern Corvonni front further along there, with a force under fifty thousand present.
North, on the Buhowlos front, the locals have around seventy thousand active troops, backed by ten thousand Anglanorse and fourty thousand Aurileni.
If you have any other questions, ask away.
>>
While Marcus was at the front, his good friend, Grandholder Georgius of the Archive was reluctant to join the war in the west due to his past at the hands of Roggarians, who burned his city, killed his parent and disfigured him. He was always deeply Pantheonic but the prospect of fighting a war along with Roggarians discusted him. Upon learning of the heroic death of his madman of a friend, Georgius had a change of heart. The next morning was debuted with a brief council calling for a mustering of the physicians and soldiers of his land. He, personnally would too go to war. Within a week of the death of Marcus, Georgius was sailing for revenge in the name of the only Roggarian who saw him for who he was, and not another Eternian.

"I suggest we for the time being stick with delaying tactics, diversions, stalling and raiding. Anything to buy time while we stockpile supplies and bring in more reinforcements.
Come the autumn, we should have sufficients troops to counterattack. Better weather to.

In addition, we should bring in more heavy hitters to deal with this huge firedemon thing. Hit him with four champions and a couple of dragons I say."

It seems we'll be fighting. The date is 22.8.816. It's a warm day and our army holds no particularly good defensive terrain - there's forests, small hills and grasslands in this area in abundance. The centaurs are within a day of their pace to the northwest, the Corvoni are some miles to our south, but have been informed and will be aiding us.
General positioning and preparation for the battle is now. Draw up plans, present them if you want - and roll three d100s to begin it.

The battle begins with thunderous roar and fiery blasts - from the enemy's side. Captured artillery and magefire together rained down upon our forward positions as we were still trying to move around some untis - no time for the finer details, it seems, we'll have to fight as is! The crows and centaurs are still on the way, the enemy outnumbers us almost two to one.

Rabban leads his units forward, a mighty stiffness in his breeches from the feeling of authority and, perhaps, imminent bloodlust. The first melee engagements begin in some places as units of light and heavy infantry clash - these foes we face are a regular army. The more elite among their units are clad in plate armor and are imposing physical opponents with their combination of natural strength and martial prowess, while those who are more lightly armed and armored are nevertheless a respectable threat. The Corvoni move in with skirmishers and light infantry primarily, keeping their heavy elites in a more defensive position for the moment.

Taking one last whiff of his pipe, Palman took a gaze of his men. Exiles, mercenaries, loyal believers in a great being now gone - men whose firey passion had not yet been extinguished. It fell unto him, as a lord, to lead them into an uncertain future - and so he drew his sabre and rallied the Band of the Phoenix forward - the crows still try to hide in their trees, but as Fire's Harbinger, no wood would hold back his flames.

Crap, was that a bone creaking? Damn, is it hot. And the armor's feeling heavier than it used to.
Sir Ford was getting old. No amount of magic or medicine could completely stop the effect of age and all of the accumulated wounds from years of fighting - but those years had given him experience. With his own group of followers he charges forward to meet the Fire Giant's attack. Emmerich caught a glimpse of his daughter among the warriors. He breathed in deep - no, he couldn't let himself be a dissapointment now.

The battle rages hard and hot. A flaming sabre cuts through the vines - a distraction, enough to buy time for an armored woman to strike the giant in the side with a greatsword. The former Satrap is pressed on two sides by the father and daughter, two Roggarians warriors who fight for Gods, Family and Home. So that they can one day be back in Lakton, walk among the wheat fields and gaze upon Lake Ulrich.

Still, the enemy holds an overall advantage in the flow of the battle. Their ranks barely even budge, but the centaurs charging on their flanks now may give us the push we need.

Elite Roggarian divisions charge in at just the right moment - abandoning the safety of a defensive position and kicking reason to the curb, you are able to cut a path straigth through the enemy's front and reach their general's position!
While the remaining Dragon is trying to keep their titan busy and the Champions have other places on the battlefield covered, here YOUR characters - should you choose - will fight against The Lion King - the one captives refered to as the Great Abmis, a mighty general who has proven his worth on this battlefield. He towers well over seven feet tall, protected by a fine suit of plate armor and surrounded by elite Pride Knights. His weapon of choice is a rather standart one - a greatsword, not quite unlike what many Roggarians wield.
"If you wish to claim my head, you'll be putting yours in peril, unbelievers!" He roars out, in a heavily accented elvish that you are able to understand.

The hammer knight was eventually swarmed by enemies - bit by bit, he was tired out and brought down, a death by a thousand cuts. The two brothers had died - and before their eyes, they saw as their King was killed, a sword going through his eye and into his skull.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away:

Trusted Councilor Drunf was at the bathroom, enjoying his favorite part of the workday.
Well, his bathroom break was not like that of lesser mortals. For starters the spacious and luxurious bathroom had a connected bedroom, kitchen, break room and balcony. All gilded and covered in deliciously soft plush cloth naturally. His bathroom breaks could thus last for many hours, often with snack breaks and naptime included.
At times they would go on long enough to warrant bathroom breaks of their own, his architects and crying accountants were already drawing up plans for adding a bathroom to this bathroom for just such a purpose.

Outside, he could hear the cheers from the game of “Catch the Garble”, the traditional annual sporting event where the gathered Councilors celebrated some dumb event that took place 500 years ago.

From his plushy gilded window he could spot them down in the Garden of Trust. Half a dozen servants dressed in comical costumes carrying plumed banners running to and fro, at times stopping to make loud garbling noises. Over a hundred councilors being carried on the backs of servants chased them, their carriers goaded forwards by bottles of beer attached to sticks just long enough to be out of reach.

Drunf had tried the game once, never again. Before the first scheduled tea break he had been tackled by both Half-knackers, while in the Javelin Zone of all places, resulting in the loss of the Green Leadershirt and being bumped down to fourth in the line for the Captain’s Fez. He could have grinded some points in the shadow circles by the fountain to regain his chances at a late game comeback but had instead gone for the traditional ragequit. Never again.

Unbeknownst to Drunf however, other forces than those in his bowels were at work this day.

The ruse had worked, set up a sporting event and the fat moron had immediately retreated into his private chamber, leaving them free to plot against him.
“All in agreement then? That revolting idiot have flaunted all our rules and traditions and dragged our good name through the mud.”
In perfect unison, “Ale!” resounded all over the Garden of Trust.

The officers of the Wolf Brigade, known for their fanatical loyalty to their liege, raised no objection. Rather they personally marched into the private quarters of Drunf Tower and had their previous liege dragged screaming and kicking to the dungeon.

Soon enough it was known that the previous Master of Law were facing charges of tax evasion, theft, corruption, nepotism, attempted human trafficking, donations to the Wave Charities, breaking his vow of celibacy and offending foreign dignitaries by having two scoops of ice cream while only giving them one.

Once more, the councilors gathered in their grand hall, once again trying to elect a worthy leader for themselves:

1. Some saint who honestly believes in virtue and morality, hates violence
2. A dick, morals are for the weak & peasants
3. More forward thinking, reformist
4. Strict and conservative
5. Former soldier who joined the Councilors, as much a soldier as a scholar
6. Corrupt weakling, only there due to nepotism
7. Radical reformist

2.9.816. A week's rest has been good on us - the Champion of Drana and her entourage arrived here to treat the wounded a few days ago(Reimar encountered them on the way and is currently recovering from his own trauma). Our front has been stale and the main group of reinforcements has already passed through Donnovril and will reach Gardits in two weeks at most, we believe. Urgent spatial communications this morning are followed by all the officers in the army being woken - an emergency war council is called.
Great Perch has fallen, the message says. The Akeshizu army assaulted the city last evening and the fighting has now reached the highest levels - the Emperor's Hill has fallen, the last defenders are trying to protect the ways leading to the peak. The details on how the Akeshizu managed to accomplish this are uncertain - uncofirmed reports of undead dragons, mass spatial use and betrayal from within, according to the spatial message that is soon cut off by static as the mage on our side screams, clutching his head before it explodes in a shower of gibs across the command tent.

Gauthier, the Champion of Ezdar, is missing his usual smile - in its place a glare and clenched teeth, a face almost steaming in anger.
"I will go right away." He says and turns around, but Emerich's hand on his shoulder stops him. The Roggarian knight coughs once to get attention to his proposal.
"The army will need to cover about 500 kilometers before they can reach Great Perch. Gauthier on his griffon might be able to do it even faster, but that still might be too slow. One of our comrades - the Champion of Charodei, Mirabelle - is preparing a one-way teleportation right now - she can bring a group of dozens, perhaps as many as a hundred men over and it can happen today. I will go with my group that way. What about you?"
There are murmurs among the other officers. The corvonni know that they are in a terrible position whatever happens now, so they're already drawing up plans to start falling back towards the capital and preparing for the worst. The centaurs will be helping them as they can - what about you, Roggarians? If you want to send characters from your faction across the portal right away, you can volunteer some men. If you want your troops here to do something in particular or you want to propose a general change in strategy, speak up now. The current consensus is for the army to march south.

The group enters the assigned zone and waits as they begin to feel a dizzyness and then, a nausea as the world shifts within the blink of an eye - and then, they find themselves in a different place. Another camp, one in the mountains - near the base of Great Perch's rise.
Mirabelle Notaro is trying to conceal her sweaty face and irregular breathing with her big hat as she sits down to catch a breath.
Beside her there are other wizards, half of them on the ground from exhaustion. Barfing their guts out in a circle next to yours is another group. Most of them are wounded, fresh from a battle - and in the middle lies, motionless, the corpse of a female minotaur - the Champion of Divata, Margarita Sokolova, barely recognizable from dozens of arrows, stab wounds and cuts, burnt fur and a broken horn.
The camp has soldiers milling around - dwarves and eagles mostly. A force of Paitrans is returning to camp from some battle - also in poor condition, men having lost limbs, eyes and in some cases their sanity.
You can see fires burning up in the many separate towns and cities that make up Great Perch - the base is under siege, artillery from our side shelling those within. It's a barely organized chaos all around. What will you do, everyone(Separately, if you wish - you can freeroam for a turn, doing a roll for an action, or look for someone to speak to).

We nearly made it to the Emperor's Hill when we were attacked by their undead dragon. We were surrounded and had no way of going forward or back - the teleportation wasn't ready yet, so she said she would bide time. She - she turned into a great bear and fought the dragon, smashing apart its bones and giving us time. We rallied many to her and were about to teleport when a demon with a strange sword - its energy was not visible as a glow, but rather as...as though it was eating up the light around it, all the colours - and all the magic. You get a good idea of the situation with this mottled-together army. The Paitrans who just came back are commanded by their King, Charlion Ezgielan, who's the highest in rank around, but has the smallest force. The dwarves of Kragnaal and Petrekshan are mostly keeping up the siege and their commander is General Borin Sandoug, who agrees to come and see you.
The largest force here is the army of the Eagle King - but their King, the Avorei Emperor himself, was last known to be in the city when it was attacked. It is unknown if he is still alive - the big push into the city was an attempt to get to him, but it failed. The current commander of the Avori forces here is General Hower, who recognizes the name of Dragonscarred, having briefly met with Taiwaz's uncle before.
A meeting is called - a briefing on the present situation. General Sandoug has fifteen thousand dwarves under him - or at least that was before the battle started. Charlion has about five thousand men remaining, General Hower has some fourty or so thousand men that he brought to free the city - he says there should be tens of thousands of others fighting to defend it, but it's a statement made with a tinge of fear in his voice.
"For now we know that they haven't reached the Peak itself. Blasts of light energy continue appearing - Lord Veltichsvam protects the Tomb of Light." General Hower says.
"The enemy army numbers some eighty thousand or so overall. They have regulars - humans, elves, orcs - but their main strength is in the demons. Divata's Champion apparently destroyed the undead dragon they had, but we can't be sure if it was the only one. There have been unconfirmed reports from our fliers who tried to reach higher up in the sky that there is some floating structure as well." he continues.

The portal in Freedompath that leads to the High Elf Dominion will be operational in ten days if everything's going well. The Roggarian army needs at the very least 10 days - and that's assuming an uninterrupted forced march which would leave them tired upon arrival.
Dark himself is moving towards the Holy Mountain from the south, where his forces are holding off Storm's counteroffensive. Indeed, on all fronts the Vast have been emboldened and are going into full offensive mode - the most concerning being the nearby lowlands front, where Tornomk is threatening to crash through our lines and go for the mountain.
Three Celestial Dragons will be here in a day at most - Shen Rong of Wind, Zarinal of Earth and Krasnogen of Fire. Smaller bands of reinforcements, among them Zhongi and Kambori units, will also be here around that time.
The question now is a question of when to strike.
A.Assault the city now, there is no time to be lost!
B.Wait a day and prepare for the battle
C.Wait further
D.Try negotiations

Some negotiations were held briefly( Event room in discord) during which the Akeshizu chief diplomat, Masami Mizura, told the Roggarian leaders a number of things:
According to her tale, the Akeshizu only recently came into contact with the Vast and learned their story. They say that they are the first gods, the ones who created both Old Gods and New Gods as we know them long ago. The Elemental Gods betrayed the trust of the Vast Ones and established themselves as Gods of the mortal world, with Heaven and Hell acting as instruments of their power. According to this tale, mortals in this world are held down by the Gods and forced into submission by, among other things, a limit to their natural magic capacity - being made unable to regenerate their own magical energy. The Vast promises to undo these shackles and give freedom to mortals - no divine laws that dictate one's life. Dark and the Pantheon must be eliminated to that end, she said - and the mortal nations who wish to stand for their freedom against Heaven and Hell can join the cause of the Vast.

"You wish death and suffering for your people? In the name of some far-off so-called Gods that dictate how you lead your lives? You offer yourselves up to satisfy another's desires?I believe the word for such a person is cuckold."" she said
""Is that not how everyone lives. Following the orders of Monarchs and Emperors in their palaces." Tiwaz replied.
"Is that how we have to live?"
"Its how we choose to live."
The negotiations ended - Feyd pulled a knife and wounded the demoness, who promptly fled for her life.

When the zombified Light Dragon Havalach attacked our camp during the night, the Orlaegi panicked. Word had already gone out of what was said in the meeting and both Pantheonic and Triumvirate-worshipping soldiers have their faith shaken. The Avori Emperor was captured, we learn, as the Akeshizu display him to the besieging force, his wings clipped. To see one of their Gods raised as an undead servant and their Emperor captured puts pressure on the eaglemen, otherwise renowned for their bravery. In the morning reinforcements have arrived - the three dragons, an elite Zhongi force led by General Tso and a small orcish army led by King Drousdorb - each force numbering about two thousand total. Flashes of light continue to light up the sky - there is still resistance atop the peak.

More reinforcements were also brought in by teleportation via Charodei's champion - the champions of Abagar, Domna and Batahl were ported in. That makes eight champions present, including Ezdar, Zemel, Kovag and Drana.
With troop morale so low and questions at many people's minds, the Champions have assembled to answer them and explain the Pantheon's viewpoint in all of this.

"I myself have managed to go beyond Sealurker point and return - but I did not go far. Based on everything we've learned over the past eight hundred years, we believe a fourth force lives there - one that has influence over the southern hemisphere of our world to some extent. They were a civilization that managed to rebel against the Old Gods before the Storm, creating a zone in which their magic and technology kept them safe and trying to expand beyond. The great desert of Hajatas serves a two-fold purpose - to make it harder for them to influence the world beyond and to make it harder for outsiders to reach them. A solution the Titans came to where no other could be found - this was centuries before the Storm. That civilization, its population most likely of mixed elvish and giant origin, was isolated entirely, advancing in its own ways and remaining unaffected by the Storm. Some sort of internal conflict must have left them weakened or otherwise they would have tried to expand their influence beyond - it is either that, or they have managed to act in such a way that all the eyes of the Pantheon have not seen." Varg says.

"When journeying across the ocean, I was notified of several islands, both having properties relating to that of both the Old and New Gods. One example of the Old God's island is Earthquake island, which is clearly an island of earth, where an earth vast might have been located. A New God example was Gambia, where it seemed as though the exact opposite of what Divata wants, and where an Old One was. Could there be also Old Ones prepared to take over the New Gods as well?"

Domna's champion - the sea elf Maria de Mercedecias - speaks to answer that query.
"What the demon said is a twisted kind of truth, presented from one angle. The Vast Gods are the first, yes - the first sentient beings in "History", who over many millenia shaped matter to their will. They essentially created the mortal world in its original form, binding the primal forces of the Elements to eight beings, the Elemental Gods - spirits with great power and minds of their own. In their primordial form, the Vast - whose number and names are something we are not truly certain of, hence the name - were able to gradually generate magical energy of their own, allowing their souls to shape the world with magic. The Elemental Gods were closer to this mortal world and could more aptly shape it when given power - and so they were. Life was being created - trees and animals, creatures with a small fragment of what can be considered a soul - experiments for what would come later. Titans were created - as living, yet immortal beings that walked the world, bodies that the Old Gods could occupy, lacking a physical form of their own. Tens of thousands of years continued had passed, the gods of the Vast beyond giving power to the Elemental Gods, who guided the Titans in shaping the world. The dragons came later - immortal beings who could produce their own progeny, unlike the Titans who were each a hand-made creation. Experimentation with life and the soul - a sentient force, a spirit that could bend matter to its will by way of magic - continued. Sentient mortals were created, their numbers rapidly growing with time - in which the Elements saw a great opportunity. Their plans and the plans of the Vast Ones may have drifted apart at some point - and the children turned on their parents. That is where the Pantheon came in. Heaven and Hell - planes of creation and destruction, where the souls of mortals would pass on after death. They are real, not just fairy tales. Light was the main architecht of Heaven and Dark - of Hell. A system was created in place, a system with which the mortals were limited, their latent magical energy unusable by them - prayer, a transfer of energy to a higher being, became necessity for those who sought power. A foodchain was created, one that powered the Elemental Gods - and in this, the Pantheon were those spirits that Light created to rule over Heaven and oversee the passage of mortal souls into a cycle of rebirth. Having gained great power from this system that was now well established, the Old Gods erected the barriers between the planes and the Vastness Beyond that kept their creators away and cemented them as undisputed Gods over mortals."

"There is no such thing as infinity. Everything has its limit - including magical power and, by that logic, the power of Gods." Charodei's champion, the high elf Mirabelle Notaro speaks.
"The Elementals thought they had outmaneuvered their creators and that they'd become stronger - but the Vast would not stand by idly. What goes on beyond our worlds, in the great nether beyond, we do not know. The Vast gathered power - after their initial expulsion about six thousand years ago. They challenged the Old Gods - again and again, breaching the barrier between worlds on more than one occasion. Thousands of years of wars. A breach would be sealed, a new type of countermeasure created - mortal Empires were spurred on to advance in their technology and culture, organized religion began. That is how some of the Elemental Gods, such as Light, thought that the threat should be handled. Others, like Dark, thought in a different fashion - mortals should be at the bottom of the food chain - the demigods and living immortals would be a better force to handle the threat of the Vast. Dragon broods, demons, vampires, undead - these were employed against the Vast. But this solution was imperfect, for it was shortsighted - in a longer term, the potential of mortals is far greater than that of immortals - the Pantheon knew this. Another problem was added to the mix - the slow, but steady corruption of the minds of the Old Gods. A focal point in that corruption was reached at one point - a moment in which the Vast could strike. In series of global cataclysmic events, Vast minds took over those of all the Old Gods. First there was Light. Then - Wind. From WInd came Fire - from Fire came Water. Water was followed by Earth, which was later tempered by Ice. Then came the turn for Storm - The Storm. What would have followed was Dark, but he had his own ways. A great war was waged on the mortal plane, between the worshippers of the Vast on one side and those of the Elements on the other. Dragons, Titans and mortal nations fought on both sides. The Pantheon put an end to it - biding time and finding allies in the world, when both sides in that great conflict were weakened, we struck with all our force to banish the Vast and restore the barriers between the worlds - but our power was not enough to destroy them. Those spirits who had assimilated the minds of the Old Gods remained - albeit bound to certain locations. The Storm ended and all sides in the conflict were thoroughly exhausted, giving way to a new age. Seeing the horrours wrought on by greed, envy, sloth, wrath, pride and a lust and hunger for power, the Pantheon decided that we would have to bring a new order to the world - to act as New Gods, who bring laws and knowledge to mortals, who guide them to live righteous lives, wary of evil in all its forms."

"That goes into the topic of souls, one of the most complex matters that can be discussed. To put it somewhat simply - we do not know where the first souls, those of the Vast Gods, came from - and if they are indeed the first or there exists a creator before them. Those primordial souls were self-aware minds without a form that took untold millenia to gather power and begin using it. That energy coming from the ether that they absorbed was weak and slow to give them power. They created other self-aware minds, a world - the whole process I told you about. The system that eventually came to exist guaranteed a steady supply of magical energy, far faster in providing the Gods with power than what they previously could do. This power comes from the activity of the soul - emotions on one hand and thoughts on the other. Mortals were the greatest creation, looking at it from a "Magical economy" standpoint - the lives they lived were filled with intense emotion and thought, sentient activity whose residual effects is the magical fuel of life. Mortal life allows for an immortal soul - or rather, it is the other way around - an immortal, reusable soul, requires a mortal life. After death, the soul goes back into the cycle of Heaven and Hell - where mortal souls come from. To allow mortals to breed, to allow sentient life to propagate itself at such a rate, requires material for the creation of these souls - and that is what Heaven and Hell are for.
You see,the soul hase a "Body" and "Mind" - the body being its raw power and magical capacity and the mind being the sentience that moves them in some way. The "Bodies" of souls are reused for the creation of new souls. What remains in Heaven or Hell are the Minds of the souls. That is where one fundamental difference between mortals and immortals lies - death brings about the destruction of an immortal's soul, an end to their existense. That is the price that is paid for power. A break from that old order were the Demi-mortals, the solution Dark had thought of - beings such as the demons. In the case of demons, death leads to the loss of the soul's body and the return of the soul's mind to Hell. A ready-to-use pallet for the creation of an endless army - provided there are enough mortals to fuel a new Body for the soul. Dark's plan is that - to see the Pillars of Heaven broken and regain control over Hell, whereupon he would use demons to fight the Vast."
"The Pantheon began as administrators, middle management in a system of power-hungry Gods vying for power - but in our observation of mortal life, we came to appreciate it. To understand and develop a philosophy and a set of morals. To safeguard mortals from the dangers of the Vast, the sanctity of life and death must be upheld - a demon's soul requires the consumption of many mortals to create, to put it in basic terms. Given time and guidance - a way of life - mortals can be enough on their own. A balance of power, a good world."

"Those islands - and that whole Vast-afflicted sea- is where the Great war of Gods was fought. The magic employed during the Storm left the areas affected for a long term. As for an island such as Gambia - we believe that was their plan for afterwards, to use "Lesser" Vast souls to corrupt and take over our souls if we sealed Heaven off from the Mortal realm."
>>1959263
"Gods make plans for everything. Some get abandoned - such as the Animal Gods - while others are never fully realized - such as the Proto Humans. In creating the mortal races, the Elementals - Gods, Titans and Dragons - experimented with many designs. Rog, The Mighty and others like them were "Perfected" humans - a mortal form and mortal will, but the body of a soul - well, I suppose it's more apt to call that whole concept a "Spirit" in Roggarian - being of a demigod's level. No afterlife would await them - they were test subjects to see the potential of humans in different conditions. That final generation of Proto Humans was sent to guide the mortal tribes, but the project of creating an ideal race was never fully finished - the Storm came."
>>1959358
"The Old Gods' spirits would be destroyed, as would these Vast Minds. But they are not all of the Vast - there are others like them beyond the barriers that protect our planes of being. The forces of heaven are always watching, protecting that barrier - a major part of the Pantheon's power is dedicated to that task of preventing any great breaches into our planes. It is why the Pantheon does not recklessly send angels to solve every problem in the world - not only are they needed elsewhere, but it also requires a more thinned-out barrier between worlds."
>>1959486
"Beings who posess a physical body, a sentient mind and a magical spirit, have those three interconnected in their living forms. The mind controls the spirit which exists in the frame of the body - the bodies of all sentient beings are attuned to be able to exert that magic. Like blood vessels, magical vessels - or circuits, however you wish to call them - are spread throughout a magical being's body. The organism is set up in a way to allow some amount of spiritual power to be exerted - but there are limitations to physical frames. Minotaurs and dwarves were created to be stronger - far stronger than a creature of their relative size would normally be - but that came at the cost of weakened spirit vessels. Conversely, we elves are of a size comparable to humans, but have more slender frames - our bodily energies are required for the sustenance of spirit vessels. Now, the spirit is what is reused in the creation of new souls, while the mind remains in Heaven or Hell - the spirit, being bound in such a way to an organism, degrades back into its original form a bit slower. Completely destroying a body usually allows the mind to return to the Afterlife, but the spirit is often times lost or damaged - the preservation of the dead allows the spirit to pass on."

“Hold on, are you saying heaven and hell came first and an appreciation morality and such only came gradually afterwards?
Then explain to me, if you would be so kind, is there any relation between living a virtuous life and access to this eternal mindless bliss offered? Or is the reward handed out to those sufficiently useful and obedient regardless of moral convictions, even if their obedience is based on lies?
I mean, you are saying the gods began as administering this system, and later came to appreciate benevolence and morals due to their use for creating a good balanced world... You make it sound like the only purpose of religious morality is to be better tools for the gods.

In fact, fuck it, let me ask you something theological that I’ve been wondering about. Are sodomites allowed in heaven?
I mean, according to the Royal Chaplain sodomy is not something the gods approve of. But one of your colleagues did recruit a sodomite for your cause as another useful idiot, telling her the lies about saving the world from oblivion you’ve been telling the rest of us.
Humor this unenlightened layman, is the reward of heavenly peace simply given to all regardless of service, or only to those sufficiently useful to the Pantheon?

Don’t get me wrong, I barely knew the Vance girl, we Har-konnens never got along with them, and I certainly never met her little plaything Marielle. I don’t care about them. But the theological implications here do intrigue me, if for no other sake than for my own sake. A sinner who never recanted her sinful ways but died believing in a lie about saving the world from oblivion? And her meek little plaything? Are those two frolicking in heaven as we speak?

I mean, I’ve never been much of a religious man, and I have a fair share of sinful acts in my past. But that is all ok if I die being useful to the Pantheon? I should not seek to live a life in humility and prayer but rather jockey for position with other useful heroes?
I don’t know what to believe anymore regarding how we’re supposed to be leading our lives. I was content in a way that I would never see Heaven, but now I’m not so sure anymore.”

"The Vast would not physically destroy the world in its entirety - if they defeat all opposition and establish themselves as unopposed rulers of the world, they would shape it into whatever they want. They have such a potential far more than the Elemental Gods or the Pantheon ever could. Fearing that power is most likely what drew the Elements to their rebellion - cutting off the Vast from their secure source of mana and taking it from themselves. In that war, the mortals were pawns and the Pantheon, bishops - to compare it to a Game of Kings. The Vast might even hold up to their promise and remove the magical limiters that the Elements placed on mortals - from what the demon said, we may assume that the Vast aren't interested in power for power's sake alone. They might even usher in a new age on the world - but they will have the say in any matter. With no system to bring stability and balance, with magic running amok and morals set beside, the world would be chaotic - even disregarding all-powerful divine intervention, mortals would tear each other apart if such a life of hedonism is encouraged. Perhaps it is in the Pantheon's nature to seek to keep an orderly world, but the core concepts behind our religion and the philosophies that Pantheonic civilization is built on are the belief in self-restraint and a natural order. We believe that it is good and just to keep that order."
>>1959589
"Justice and fairness are concepts of controversy in every world. Mathematics can present an ideal world of precise values, but the consequences of real-life actions are not something that can be measured with perfect accuracy and numbered down - we can not give a numeral score to a person's performance in life. Divine judgement plays out in a reading of the mind's memory - a review of a mortal's actions throughout life. Based on the balance between good and evil in a soul, it is either sentenced to Heaven or Hell. A good act does not wash out a bad one - nor a bad the good. That is one of the fundaments of Juras' philosophy. Inadvertedly, a decision made by the Elements when they created Heaven and Hell puts divine judgement in a different light. You see, to strike a balance, it was decided that one half of the souls passing into the Afterlife would go to Heaven and the other half - to Hell. Divine judgement weighs the better half and sends them to Heaven - where they live out visions of goodness, an Afterlife that summons positive emotions - and positivity begets more positivity. This is one of the main sources of magical power, the residue from all these emotions that are felt.Hell puts the minds it has sentenced through trials that conjure up "negative" emotions - also generating power. The Pantheon only draws upon the power created in Heaven, but the laws set upon the planes of Creation and Destruction require the system to go on - half of all who die go to Hell. The Pantheon has been able to create and maintain one way around this - Purgatory."
>>
>>1959687
"Purgatory is the common name of the thin link between Heaven and Hell. The Pantheon's spirits are bound to Heaven, but through Purgatory we are able to exert some control over Hell - bringing souls undeserving of such suffering into Heaven and sending loyal servants down to Hell to keep order. It is a thin pipeline, which would endanger the barrier between worlds if it were to be too great. It is one of the Pantheon's few "real" creations - a second chance, a way to redemption. "
"Order is there not just for orders sake, by the way. Without a system of rebirth, mortal life could collapse - if the number of mortals increases, yet there is not enough soul energy to give them sentience, the result would be essentially empty husks. The propagation of life and the continued use of magic requires this system - it is part of the original purpose behind its creation. Everything has to come from somewhere, after all."

"The mortal world is elemental in nature. All matter on it posesses some relation to each element, to a certain degree - this is comparable to colours. The base colours in certain combinations form all other colours. Looking at it from a perspective like that, non-elemental matter is black, while certain rare materials such as gold are white. Yes, precisely - gold posesses an equal amount of essense from each element. Other metals and gems are more aligned towards certain elements - and why is this relevant? You know that dragons and titans love to hoard riches, but there's a practical reason behind it. Beings of elemental power such as dragons and titans are aligned to one of the eight elements and draw power from it - a fire dragon may make its lair in a volcano, an ice dragon would seek the frozen arctic and so on. The demigods are able to effectively regenerate their magical power via proximity to those elements - and dragons are able to switch into their humanoid forms while near matter that can store that power. Where does that matter go? When a humanoid dragon turns back into its large form, it has to draw on its aligned elemental matter again. Gold, being the "perfect" matter, is universally useful in that regard - and that is why it and other precious metals and gemstones originally became valuable thousands of years ago, when dragons and titans made some races have an inborn attraction to such wealth - for the purpose of extracting it. That also gave rise to a cultural importance in early civilizations that has remained to this day. People know that gold and diamonds are valuable just because, or at least that's what most think."
Shen Rong, here in his elvish form, breathes in and nods.
"Such is the nature of the world.Titans were never made with reproductive capabilities in mind. Dragons were - what limits our birth rate is the need to accumulate magical power to pass on to progeny - it has to be in great number for a real dragon to hatch from an egg. If insuficient power is put into those eggs, what you get are less intelligent and capable children - wyrms, serpents, drakes, wyverns - few such have been born since the Storm, because we learned to take care of our children better, but you may have read of records before the Storm - myths, legends and chronicles - that more frequently mentioned such beings."
"Dragons and Titans are bound to this plane, their purpose is its protection and the upholding of the Elemental Order. Our spirits are incapable of operating beyond it and the very system of our being means we require so much energy to be put into our creation or growth that we are not suitable as a source of mana in and of ourselves - as middlemen at most. The Vast Gods, having taken the Old Gods, may have the ability to create new Titans, but have chosen not to because of how much it would cost them. Dragons can continue their existence as long as the primordial elements exist in all matter."

"If I may be so rude, let us dispense with theoretical theories surrounding breeding of titans and the weight of souls, and bring attention back to the more pressing issues.

How much is at stake here?
Earlier we believed all would face oblivion should we fail, and now it sounds like the mortal realm being radically restructured or not is what we’re fighting over.
If the Vast gains victory, how will this affect life beyond this one? Will the afterlife change? Will the living dead return to haunt the living? Will heaven and hell continue as before, splitting the dead evenly? Will this purgatory you speak of disappear along with the Pantheon?

I mean, I have a wife and a child back home… Am I fighting for their salvation?
Should we suffer defeat here, what will be the consequences for the eternal souls of those coming after us?"

"Looking at it logically, there are two possibilities. One is that the Vast will establish themselves as new Gods and set their own rules - which will mean a tyranny worse than anything the biggest skeptic thinks of the Pantheonic order. Those who opposed them would be eliminated and the order of the world would be restructured. The balance of power would be destroyed, with the Vast Ones being too powerful to be opposed by anyone - even if you do not like the Pantheon, the Gods themselves are, generally, not the type who can smite you directly from Heaven. All the world would live in fear of the Vast and at their complete mercy - and if you were to judge them by the company they've kept and their actions so far, you'd know that it would not be a kind world to you and your kin.
The other option is that they will simply destroy all existing order and let anarchy reign. If they implement no system of rebirth, sentient mortals will eventually die out or wither in numbers and be overtaken by immortals or demimortals. At best, allowing the Vast to win would be exchanging benevolent Gods with a limit to their power for untrustworthy Gods with no limit to their power. " Varg explains.

Preparations are being made for the assault on Great Perch to commence. If you have any questions to ask, ask them now. Also, post who you have participating in the battle. If you don't have anyone from your faction here, feel free to ask and be given control of some NPCs for the duration of the battle. If you have people there but don't want to participate, says so. Available non-roggarians include, but are not limited to: Dwarves from Kragnaal and Petrekshan, Paitrans, Orlaegi, Zhongi, Kambori, various mercenaries, followers of the Champions(The Champion of Mor having also just arrived from the Lowlands front with his group).

Plans for the assault are being drawn up.
Great Perch is like a spiraling staircase, with different in size towns and cities situated on various levels. The major checkpoints while climbing up are as follow:
The fortified low-level city of Veiza, formerly a large marketplace, entryway into the city, is our first target - the fortifications and most of the city itself have been reduced to rubble both during the Akeshizu assault and the consequent counter-siege. It is a position that is hard for the enemy to hold - the generals believe that they'll merely try to use it to slow down any serious advance from our side, seeing as the previous assault managed to get through its defense line.
The second major checkpoint is Tipsber, an industrial center with entrances to mines in the mountain. The last assault managed to pass through it as well - fortifications there are also negligible, but after passing through its end a steeper rise begins, at which point landslides and other shenanigans with the terrain could be an issue to our assault.
The third checkpoint is Laketown, a major source of water for the city and an academic centre. The last assault was stopped there, as they were getting close to the core of the enemy's forces.
The fourth level will be Greenpath, the last area in which forests grow, a city that is half park and half treehouse-town. observations from our forces indicate that much of that area might have been torched during the assault.
The fifth level is Emperor's Hill - earlier assaults had hoped to reach it and free the Avori Emperor, but his liberation is now secondary to taking revenge. The Hill is where we believe the enemy will put up the toughest fight as it has usable fortifications and is an important strategic location.
After Emperor's Hill begins the climb into the heights, which are not as densely populated - a climb that eventually reaches The Triumvirate's Walkway, leading to the peak and the entrance to Light's Tomb - the place that Veltichsvam is still guarding.

While plans were being discussed in the command area, outside a commotion was rising. You checked to see what it was - an odd-looking cart train, dozens if not hundreds of carts, has just rolled into camp - it is protected by a hodgepodge of mercenaries, militiamen and soldiers, led by a middle aged human - an occidental, his garb and equipment being of the style of Akeshizu - the man puts his hands up as he is surrounded by soldiers from our side, but Duke Swift-Hands shouts for the men to put their weapons down when he sees who the ronin is travelling with - a crew of goblin mechanics, repairmen and golem pilots, wearing a special set of uniforms. The Duke smiles as he sees the veils covering the carts' contents being removed and large metal parts shining under the sun's rays. He has arrived - the crewmembers hastily start unloading the parts and more men are sent to assist with the task at hand - the assembly of Sentinel Prime.

Sentinel Prime was presumed lost - either captured by the Akeshizu to whose ships he was entrusted for transport or destroyed by the crew to prevent his capture. During his transfer, an old samurai approached the commander of the crew and told them of his countrymen's intention to betray the Anti-Vast Alliance. Spatial messages trying to go out to warn us had been blocked, but with the help of the samurai - one of the last remaining in the opposition to the Demon Emperor, survivors of the Shogun's era, the crew hatched a plan to decieve the Akeshizu - sacrificing some spare parts, additional dummies and a few brave mechanics to make the demons think that the great golem had self-destructed. The parts and their crew were hidden among the large bagagge train the army carried with it - during their travel towards Great Perch, the ronin and the crew split off with the parts - now the prodigal son has returned and while the last preparations for the battle are made, his segments are assembled, his core is powered up and the crew take their positions within the gobpits inside.
All systems engaged, core fueled up - Sentinel v.4.1 Primed and ready.
The dwarvish cannons are told to begin firing like there's no tomorrow as the army starts moving forward - to Great Perch.

The assault is beginning - for this phase, it'll be a battle - three rolls for our side against three for the enemy!

Our assault is a somewhat botched one - commands got mixed up, the units from all these different nations together did not cooperate as well as they could have and there was too much confusion in who exactly should do what. It's a good thing that the enemy hasn't placed their elites at their rear - Veiza is protected by regular human and sea elf troops, primarily regular army soldiers with some amount of samurai - the Akeshizu equivalent of knights - and mages, most of them maesreni. But they took up good enough positions, with whatever cover they could find against our ranged barrages, returning with their own volleys of arrows and spells. Our army's vanguard now closes in, getting ready to charge at the enemy's front lines.

In closer ranges, the Akeshizu make use of their own gunpowder weaponry - something below the dignity of the demons in their army, a task fitting for the rank and file ashigaru. The terrain and our position as attackers limits the usefulness of gunners on our side - not that we have too many in our army now. When our cavalry and infantry crash into the enemy's ranks, the three dragons unleashing attacks on the enemy from above, we fight our way through their respectably well-put together defense - the battle enters the city proper, the enemy trying to hold positions as long as they can.

Our army numbered about sixty thousand in total at the beginning of this assault - casualties so far are between one and three thousand on our side; No more than thirty thousand Akeshizu were defending this checkpoint and they are now some units are trying to make a fighting retreat up to the next level while others will try to slow our advance. It's urban fighting in a ruined city, a familiar battle place for many at this point after years of war.

The retreit was a feint - our orcish allies charged ahead of the formation to chase down the runnning enemies, only for them to turn around and engage them, with other units coming in from the sides, boxing in the Kambori force; Traps are sprung and the enemy's confidence returns as they try to make use of superior positioning and coordination to hit us from different sides. This must be the work of a skilled enemy commander - one who has not shown his face or location, unlike the flamboyant Lion King we last fought.

General Hower is keeping all orlaegi troops who can still physically fight on the battlefield, even if they are injured.
There is one good bit of news - the Light Dragon Elechtia has arrived to aid us, having until this moment aided in the defense of another frontline. Using her magic, she provides light for our advance forward, night having set in already.

The enemy's strategy hasn't changed - the fact that we still outnumber them means their goal is to delay, not stop our force. What's changed is some of their force disposition - the Akeshizu lizardmen corps are here, soldiers from what were once Gajaxlani holdings - aside from them, the new faces we're meeting are the occasional demon among the regular forces. Still, we've pushed past their fortified positions and are now starting to methodically advance through the city.

The dragons flew over and blasted the retreating enemies, killing hundreds if not thousands in a single strafing run. Our army advanced with speed, reaching the defense lines of Laketown - the battle for that city did not last long, with the initiative firmly in our hands. Keeping up the momentum, we advanced, reaching Greenpath, where orcish forces were trying to surpress Orlaegi resistance - our arrival inspired the pockets of eaglemen still left fighting to strike the enemy hard - these last defenders of the capital bolstered our numbers by a critical several thousand men - with seemingly unstoppable energy on our side, we continued our advance - the night has almost ended and the sun will soon rise, but there is no time for rest - not until we have reached our goal. It is at this moment that the vanguard of our army reaches the defense lines of Emperor's Hill, where the retreating Akeshizu forces reach friendly lines - the core of the enemy's army, demons by the thousands, arrayed for battle.

Everyone can now take control of their own character(s) and act. If you don't have any, ask me to give you control of some - there's plenty of NPCs around who will otherwise be fighting their own battles.

There are three points of interest that this elite group could pick from to attack - the human general who commanded the rearguard in effectively slowing us down for the battle so far is relatively close, protected by his samurai retinue. The black orcs of Akeshizu are said to be commanded by a ferocious general, whose location as a commander is rather easy to spot by the banners, war drums and mighty shouting coming out of it. Finally, there's the main demon lines themselves - they may be the hardest to fight through, but the ones commanding the army in general are certainly the demons of Tiango.

Another beam of light energy lights up the sky above us, coming from the peak. The main lines of our forces charge at the enemy, who rather than wait in place reply in kind - as the vanguards meet head-on, your group goes straight for where you believe the prize may be - right smack in the middle. A line of demon warriors face you now - the first obstacle you will have to overcome on the way to the enemy commander.

Everyone, it's showtime - roll for the action you choose for yourself. You've all been given some base values depending on your current character, include those!

Six demons rise to the occasion in turn, looking to take you on.
>>1971477
You exchanged blows with a demon on horseback - his spear missed and your strike disabled his right hand, which forced him to drop it and go for the blade on his waist, wheeling around to face you again.
>>1971487
The redskinned demon ogre Dreck faces a lithe demon, skin the shade of blue - Dreck's attacks are wild and inaccurate, but the pressure he puts on his foe causes him to focus on evasion and parrying, managing only to land a few fairly insignificant blows on Dreck's armor.
>>1971498
The three take down a random demon and then come face to face with a menacing foe - one armored from head to toe in a type of plated armour - he caught Pen-ce's lightning bolt with his left hand and did a motion that caused the lightning to flow across his body and exit through his right hand, hitting Rabban straight on - the storm spell does not kill him, but it halts his movement for a few seconds, during which the demon blocks the blows from the other two swordsmen with his arms, moving in such a way as to let the blades slide off them.
>>1971503
>>1971519
Herwig and Nothos blast away at a few regular demons, before having to maneuver their pegasi away to dodge the spell strikes from a pair of demonic spellcasters - by the looks of them, twins, shooting at them with ice spikes. Both pegasi riders maneuver safely away and Nothos even lands a glancing blow on one of the twins.
>>1971515
Your vines entangle a few foes successfully, allowing other combatants to cut them down - but you barely dodge in time when one demon charges at you with great speed, his blade cutting through the air - at first it seemed to you like he hadn't landed a hit on you, but then you felt a pain in your left leg. You feel it - this enemy fights with the power of the wind.

The blue one ducked, evading the blow to the head - he tried to move in and stab Dreck through the armor, but the ogre also moved forward, kicking him with an armored knee in the stomach - the blue one's sword only lightly cut Dreck, while the ogre's hammer landed a hit on his opponent - one he had to parry, the sheer weight of the blow causing Blueskin's arm to tremble and shake.
>>1971595
The armored demon drew no blade - he simply moved with speed and precision, narrowly evading some blows and letting others glance off his armor - Pen-ce's second lightning bolt was once again caught in the demon's hand, this time redirected to hit Feyd from nearly point-blank range, sending him to the ground.
>>1971597
Your opponent's blade did not strike true - your armor easily took the damage as you closed by and, with one swift strike, separated his head from the shoulders.
>>1971598
Your thorny trick worked to some extent, causing your opponent to stumble and struggle to get out - which he did manage, but not before you hit him with the poisoned tip of your staff, poison splashing to reach parts of his flesh.
>>1971600
>>1971624
The twins erected ice barriers that stopped your blows - when your strafing led you past them, they turned around and managed to land magical hits on your mounts, wounding the pegasi.

Your Storm spell misses him - Blueskin ducks and weaves again, this time managing to position himself to stab you in an opening of your armor. It stings somewhat.
>>1971678
His movements slowed down by the poison, the demon nevertheless tried to go for another attack - he gripped his long demonblade in an unusual way and tried to charge in, but you simply stepped into his attack and hit him with the dragonbone shield, the bash knocking against his chin so hard his brain slushed around in its containing skull. Stunned once more, he was an easy enough target for you to finish off with a second shield blow, this time hitting the neck and causing him to go down, choking on his own blood - a third shield strike, with its lower tip to his face left it a mush of red on the ground.
>>1971679
You maneuvered around, evading the strikes that followed - with your lance you then broke through the ice shield one had set up, giving an opening for your friend to use.
>>1971692
You pushed on forward, using your sword to kill some random and nameless demons that few would ever care about. The general is still beyond your reach and you realize you've pushed too far in and should probably help your friends first so you can move ahead as a group. (This roll went against no enemy roll)
>>1971698
The dragonblood is horrid in taste, but Feyd feels power coming to his body - his regeneration going into overdrive, both in body and spirit, his strength increased twofold(+1 base).
Rabban and Eric, on the other hand, have no luck in finding any opening in the demon's armor - he proceeds to ignore them and starts moving towards Pen-ce, catching yet another one of his lightning bolts and redirecting him back at the caster- Pen-ce counters with his own defence, Storm clashing against Storm - Pen-ce is almost entirely unhurt, but now the armored demon is almost upon him.
>>1971714
You moved in to smite the one Herwig had left open to attack - your lightning hit him head on, but as you were flying away the other twin's ice spike hit you in the back, causing you to almost fall off your pegasus.

(Herwig has another +12)
The attack came from two sides - the spellcaster tried both protecting and attacking, preparing a spell of mass flash freeze, but Nothos' lightning and Herwig's lance hit him almost at the same time - one putting him down to his knees, the other taking the head off its shoulders.
>>1971753
Once again, he dodges with speed and guile, replying with a cut that leaves another light wound on Dreck's arm. It also stings a bit.

>>1971756
The demon moves to the side and your blow merely slides off his plates.
>>1971765
The armored demon easily rips through your thorns and your staff's hit does nothing to him, no poison touching flesh.
>>1971759
The demon stops temporarily, turning around and blocking the strikes of the three swordsmen - he's asessing the situation, wondering if he should keep on the attack or try to move away.

With just two enemies left, I'll roll for them(Blueskin and Armored). Their roll is the defence you have to go over, but their attack is only against one target.

Roughly equal numbers; +10 Equipment - advantage mostly brought on by Sentinel Prime; Roughly equal magical power, morale and training/experience level; +104 Mor's Champion deployment

Tombkeeper moves swiftly, from one point to another, killing those he has to - the officers, higher-up mages, the ones keeping order and formation in the ranks of the enemy army. That is where he is most useful and that is what he puts himself to doing. He knows that a man he knows may be nearby. A colleague of his...

The battle rages on. Corpses pile the streets and buildings of the Emperor's Hill. Above it all, for more than ten minutes no blast of massive light energy has been seen.

The group advances forward, with the most elite warriors of the army fighting to clear a way to the enemy commander - a fateful reunion of souls is at hand. Cutting through yet another line of demons, you see a cleared space where several notable figures are standing. A man who can not be mistaken for any other - the commander of this demon army, a demon with his blades till in his scabbard; A masked man whispering in his year, wearing no heavy armor, but rather equipped with unusual-looking weapons; Clad in heavy armor, scars on his face barely visible past the helmet, the red colour in his attire the shade of the Iron Legion; A formerly pale-skinned elf, gender hard to determine merely by looking at their face; And a mutt, a woman of insignificant height and build, but an instantly recognizable face and orange hair colour.
The Champions are mostly engaged elsewhere across the battle - helping where the fighting is thickest, facing Harbingers of the Vast Gods - here, in this place, you stand against these enemies, blade and spell destined to clash - with some, for yet another battle, with others - for the first time.

He dashes forward with a curved blade, aiming for the vampire's eye, as the chaos gems he holds flow into him...

Some of the watery walls disrupted your lightning bolts, but one got through and hit the elf - your men also got in close, Rabban and Eric missing, but Feyd managing to land a goot cut that tore through the former Empress' clothing and left a nice scar across her gut - the torn fabric showing some tatoo-like markings just above the (still covered up) lady's groin.
>>1974636
68vs102
Taking up your hammer once more, you charged at Zougo - tanking the blow that he'd aimed for Swift-Hands. The demonblade does not cut through your armor, but the force of the blow is considerable - and what's more, you feel all of your mana evaporating as all magical equipment on you loses its charge across the next few seconds, lowering your base value to 14.
>>1974637
76vs102
That strike could've hit you. The thought went away quickly, you focused yourself on putting pressure on him as Zougo once more goes into the defensive, though in one moment he did do a quick strike that hit you in the side of the helmet, causing blunt damage.
>>1974640
48vs101
You slipped on the ground and fell, your hammer blow being stopped by an icy wall - you got up again, having done no damage to the winter elf.
>>1974642
You throw yourself on the pegasus and let it guide you away from the fight safely.
>>1974649
The wounds stung, but Wave forces herself to her greatest potential yet - in some places her skin gets covered by scales, her whole body gets more slippery, her eyes glow and she feels her magical capacity increased. However, the wounds she sustained during the charging up did not allow her to reach the maximal possible power and her base goes up to 45.
The Winterlord protected himself from attacks and used the time to channel all of his own power. His body was covered in a protective layer of ice, his breath itself grew so cold it could make a man shiver, his footsteps cause the ground beneath him to slowly freeze - his base rises to 50, but with the power he also feels a phantom pain - it is not the first time he has had to call upon this force and he knows that he's pushing himself and his body to the extreme.
>>1974650
58vs98
You reached the vampire lord and jumped in for an attack. Arthur turned around, a heavy axe taken from one of his men - he brings it down, hacking into the bear's right shoulder and sending it crashing down into the ground, heavily wounded.
>>1974656
102vs98
While Arthur was hacking at the bear, Lee closed in at breakneck speed - he aimed his blade for the vampire lord's eye, but Arthur moved away - yet not in time to entirely dodge the blow, as the blade tore into his cheek and then took off most of his right ear.
>>1974705
You watched in horror as the axe was brought down upon the bear - your spell did not protect Zalian in time, but you feel that he is still alive as you get closer.

Zougo will charge up his sword for another strike, this time aimed at Swift-Hands for sure - the ogre is a distraction that he has to avoid.

But that puts him right in the path of your charge - he swung from the top left, but was slower than his opponent - you put everything behind a single blow, punching through the Demon Prince's armor around his waist, your sword entering his body at a diagonal direction as his own arm weakly brings his sword down to meekly pat your shoulder - Zougo coughs up blood, a bit of it getting in your face through your visor. Arthur's gaze quickly turned to you, forgetting about the bear - he punched you in the face with his left hand, cut you across the side with the axe in his right and then closed the distance, grabbing you in a somewhat homoerotic fashion and seeking his teeth in your neck. The blood further powers him up to +22.

>>1974731

>>1974733
104vs135
The three swordsmen charge in, but Wave replies to their attacks with a special spell of hers - the water she'd prepared to use as a whip was made to cause rapid rusting of metals it came into contact with - with the whip she hit all three, the water splashing and causing their swords and armors to begin corroding before their eyes. Pen-ce, however, did land a bolt at the woman, disrupting her outer layer of defense somewhat.

Zougo sees his life flash before his eyes. He has to make a decision quick - his death may be unavoidable, but if he is to die, let it be on his terms! No bonus.

Zougo, instead of trying to get out of the death grip, grabbed the hilt of his Demonblade and, with all the remaining power he could muster, thrust it toward his own chest - along the way, the blade, now glowing brighter than ever, punctured the goblin's armor and went through his right side - though missing any vital organs - and out of the front, entering the Demon Prince's body. Zougo uttered some word in the language of his people before closing his eyes, the blade exploding, with a magical blast wave spreading in hundreds of feet in every direction, purging all magic effects, ending all active spells and even the mana within the bodies of all who are fighting. "Light cutting waves", the titanslaying blade, shatters into thousands of small fragments. The demon's own body was now motionless, part of the blast had directly damaged Dreck, - and of course, Foreman. His artifacts lost their magical charge, his side had been pierced by a blade and the blast had shook him hard - shrapnel from the sword, burns from the spell and trauma from all the fighting put the goblin duke on Mor's gate itself - down to a base of 0 and a high likelyhood of dying if he is not treated quickly.
Everyone has lost their mana, active magical effects and the power of their artifacts. You may try to recharge it or to fight without any magical aid - merely trusting their skills and the mundane weapons and armor they may have.

Aemor shatters apart like ice, while Wave's head is left as a red paste in the mud.
Arthur used the last of his own powers in the meanwhile to cast a spell - to teleport himself away...and that he did - about ninety feet away, on the ground in the middle of the battlefield. Boots were stomping over him, he was still bleeding from the neck and throat, unable to form any more words - or, at this point, even breathe. His last satisfaction in death, as four hundreds of life went past his eyes, would be that he did not let his enemies see the light go out of his eyes. His corpse was one among thousands in the mud - and whether the last one to step on him was an Eternian, an orc, a Roggarian or a raven come to feast, none would know.

Those heroes of Roggar were fighting the enemy commander and two of the Vast's Harbingers - and Varg could see that it was a fight that mattered to them. He and the other Champions had their own battles they needed to fight - the enemy army held the advantage overall, they had to be the factor that turns the tide. To be where they are needed most - in the chaos of such a major battle, to know where that place is - that is the key. Spear in hand, resolve in heart, Varg employs no fancy elemental attacks - his mind is his greatest weapon, but sometimes heart is what's also needed. Something's wrong, he knew - the sun was not moving, Veltichsvam had stopped firing off attacks hours ago. Time was of the essence.

Never have the stakes been higher. The time should be around noon, yet the sun has not moved for hours, still on the other side of the mountain. The Akeshizu held a broad advantage on the battlefield, but it was in key places that the Anti-Vast Alliance took its small victories, one at a time. Both sides are tired, they've been fighting for days.

Naldag Upalo climbed up the stairs out of Light's Tomb. He gazed at the new form his master had taken - the last Titan of Light, Veltichsvam, had put up a good fight - for three days and nights he held against the might arrayed against him. His power was great - one could call it vast, in fact, but it reached its end. He was not killed - there was no use for him like that. He was weakened, brought down, the gate he'd defended - opened by the Harbinger of Lord Light.
And now, He stood anew - after eight hundred years of this dark prison, He gazed upon the world his own children had denied to him - in both the lives he'd lived.

The sun had stopped in the east.
The time had come - Light, reunited with his brethren - save for the weakling Wind - would now set upon reclaiming the world they'd created. Below, in the streets of the city, mortals and demimortals were still fighting - with even a few dragons thrown in the mix. Light looked beyond that - to the south, the dark clouds had gotten close and he could see a familiar figure approaching. To the northeast, where another city of the Avorei was perched, he felt a powerful spatial energy activating as well.

Dark kept a steady pace moving forward. The body of his loyal Toimibon was a good vessel for his spirit - those he'd once known as brothers were chained beneath the earth, but he had spent the past eight centuries in a different kind of prison, to hide among mortals. Reaching the base of the mountain, he could see clearly the face of his oldest rival and friend, twisted within the grasp of his Creator. Unfurling massive wings of darkness, Dark launched himself up into the air. He had had enough of all the stairs of the Rhoznaxi ziggurats. As he gained height, he too felt the spatial energy that had been unleashed - and a familiar presence commanding it.

And last, there he was. They'd known him by many names over a millenia and a half. The Old One, the Proffesor, The Adept.
The Gate Opener.
The army of the Aurileni Dominion marched out of the portal, preparing to move for Great Perch with all the speed it could - but mortal means of travel were too slow for him.
How the the times had changed, he thought, as he levitated himself above. The high priests, the Magisters and all the great lords of the Dominion followed him on their griffons, levitating objects, wings of magic and an experimental golem. The Peak called.

The armies look befuddled as these figures all rose up above them. The world's tallest peak, its holiest mountain, it's greatest battle.
The Akeshizu opposite our army would neither attack our lines nor fall back. We stood at a stalemate - some small fights breaking out, but neither side commiting. All of the Champions of the Pantheon were nowhere to be found as well - they'd last been seen gathering together in one place.
It should be afternoon, but the sun has yet to move. Instead, a different light begins to shine - eminating from the peak, the mages all feel the presence of three distinct energies clashing against each other. Only an amateur would say that they "Feel some kind of energy" - in most cases. But here, it is at the same time an energy of spatial movement, elemental manipulation and ward deployment. Time itself seems to slow down around everyone, the colours begin to fade. A mist begins to materialize, all around, so thick you can barely see your own hand in front of your face.

All colours are reduced to black and white. Time seems to stop, before speeding up - strange visions appear all around you, flashing lights, images of things you've seen in your lives - different things depending on the person looking. It is something like the feeling of being teleported, you recognize, but of a different scale.
How much time has passed? You don't know. It seems to be flowing normally once again and all the colours are back - but the place is different. You - all the notable Roggarians who were present in and around the Holy Mountain of Light - find yourselves next to each other. You have your armors, your weapons - everything you had on until before the lights began. But there is something different about you - all of your wounds are healed entirely. You all feel, physically, entirely rejuvinated.
You are in a forest - wild and dense. Before you sits an old man, reading a book.

"Greetings my good sage. I expect you can enlighten us regarding the current situation?"

"So I take it we're not dead then."

He looks up from his book and looks each of you over.
"Just an old man with nothing but time on his hands. Who might you be? I haven't seen any new faces in a while."
You explain who you are, where you were until some unknown time ago and what happened. He nods, looking in interest - some of you perhaps speak more, introducing themselves in detail - others, maybe, are careful with their words.
The old man is asked one question above all others - who he is.
"Well, if you'd like to know my name, it's a simple one. I am Rog."

"Rog?! But....how, we learned that you along with the other High Humans had been lost forever during the Storm."
>>

"But why and how are we here, what even is this place."
>>
>>1975748
"Rog, the very being who created Roggar. I am honored to be in your presence. I have but two questions to ask. Have you heard of what we have done after your departure, and if so... Are you happy with what we have done?"
>>
>>1975757
"The Storm? Oh, yes.Well, I can't say much about the when of it, but I suppose I should tell you where you are - this place is known by most as Limbo."

"Are we dead? If we are, what are we doing here? Isn't this where sinners go? Speaking of which, why are you here?"
>>
>>1975905
Not sinners, mostly decent heathens. It means you were wrong about the gods.
