hiya, sorry the thread started late, again.

Previous Episodes

You slowly come back to your senses after being knocked unconcious by the monster and stand up again. It seems like Alina was able to finish it off using your hammer but she's suffered a lot of damage. Her leg in particular appears to be crippled.

>Put your helmet back on

Alina gets out a parchment and starts to slowly do the working out for her spells. Eventually after 20 minutes she manages to have both of you affected by Protection From Vegetables and Shield.

"Hey I did it"

You start moving to the next room...

Hey OP? I know that our titular main character can accrue experience and eventually level up, but can our companions (For instance: Alina) also work like that, or is there a different kind of system for NPCs?

Before I wanted Alina to have a reason to be able to distribute skill points. Now that she has some experience as an adventurer I'm fine with allowing the players to allocate her skill points to any skill they want. I'll just make NPCs level up when Christof does.

>>1896235
You proceed into the room beyond the curtain. It's basically a bedroom. With a mattress, a desk and bookshelf. There's a cabbage man sweeping the very smooth stone floor and he speaks to you as you enter.

He starts sweeping the floor again.

Alina retorts: "Cleaning is fun? You were right Christof, these things are abominations"

>"Hey Alina, would you mind keeping an eye out for any more vegetable-men while I search the room?"

"No problem"

The desk has one of the research tomes which you take. There are lots of scraps of paper. Most of them are banal paintings of Ardin but you find two scrolls Polymorph, and Flight among the junk and take them. You take a wand with a Yin-Yang design, you have know idea what it does. The two remaining books on the desk are text books for teaching Alteration. You assume the shop keeper will want them back so you take them.

You go to the bookshelf and find a bunch of red potions. A few more nondescript text-books and several more research tomes. You take all the books assuming the owner will want them returned. Inside a crate there's a stack of loose papers that seem related to the research. There's a sack containing rice.

>Take potions
>Take rice
>"Alright Alina, we're done here, let's get you back to the temple"

"You already used that one yesterday"

>"But seriously, you've taken a bit of a beating so we should definitely get back to the temple so we can patched you up. In fact, I actually might need another round of healing too after that knock to the head."

"I didn't even think it was possible for a bronze sword to penetrate an iron helm."

You slowly return to Leefside. The sun is down by the time to arrive but the temple is open at all hours. A priest of Pyraura heals both of you to full hp and mends Alina's leg.

My logic for wiping them out is as follows:

"They are abominations. They are common vegetables that were twisted into the warped countenances of humanoids and bestowed a loathsome facsimile of sapience solely for the purpose of allowing an infantile megalomaniac to play out the role of the righteous savior...

The kindest thing we can do for these creatures is destroy them..."

...

I can't speak for everyone else however. Perhaps the other anons just really do not like vegetables?
>>

>Talk to the priest
Didn't we have to do that collecting thing, but that the bandits were there? Am I just retarded?
>>
>>1896973

I think that the quest you are talking about was given to us by a different person in a different town. I'm pretty sure we actually haven't spoken to the priest...

>>
>>1896986
Yeah the question I asked was completely unrelated to the priest

>>

> Was a bit harsh taking out the janitor tho

Yeah I suppose, but consider this:

How long do you think it would have stood there futilely cleaning the cave floor? It's appeared to be a simple automaton designed solely to carry out orders. It appeared to have even less intelligence than the other vegemen, and seemed to happily perform any instruction given to it by any individual.

Would it just continue cleaning the floor in perpetuity? What if someone came across it? Best case scenario, they freak out and kill it. Worse case scenario, a evil sorcerer researches it and we end up with a repeat of this situation, except the vegemen would probably have a more competent leader in this situation.

>"Got any work for an adventurer?"

"Not other than that harpy extermination mission my colleague gave you earlier today. I don't think it's really necessary though I'm pretty sure the last time a harpy actually killed someone was decades ago, the paladins just sort of hate monsters."

>"Do you know anything about the wish granter?"

"Yeah! My mummy used to tell me about them in her bed time stories! Aflor used to be an independent nation with a monarchy. Even though Aflor is pretty small it was able to remain independent and powerful because we learned how to tap into the powerful magic of 'wish granters.' But 100 years ago some sort of civil war occurred and the wish granters were used as a weapons. Details vary between versions of the story but the aftermath was basically the monarchy was destroyed and the capital city Tywardreath was flooded with undead."

Alina says "In Appleby the stories say there's only one wish granter, and don't mention anything about a civil war."

The priest replies "Well whatever happened, Tywardreath is swimming with the living dead now and the wish granter is probably real and the cause of it"

>"Thanks. One more thing. Why does a goddess of beer grant healing powers?"

"In this age all the gods grant healing powers! In fact one of my coworkers is a priestess of Titrix the goddess of torture and she is an excellent healer. Besides alchohol is used in medicine as an antiseptic, disinfectant, and stuff, Pyraura is honestly one of the most healiest gods in my opinion."

You return the town garrison to give back the equipment you borrowed. You approach one of the veteran guards and he speaks.

"Stranger, I can't thank you enough. If you hadn't come help me fight those vegetable men who knocked me unconscious I'd be dead right now.
