Well then we have landed ourselves in quite the pickle here my friends. we have decided in our mortal wisdom that it was a good idea to put Valrisa on point and then casually shoot up a cultist gathering, we unfortunately forgot to do reconnaissance on the gathering so we vastly underestimated the amount of cultists there.

On the other hand we did manage to kill quite a few of them so they look quite a bit demoralized therefore we have decided to apply the only logic that seems to consistently work in the materium, apply more dakka.

Welcome to guardsman quest.
>>
alright quick and dirty, this quest is not for die hard lovers of cannon since fun and shenanigans beat cannon for the most part. Though I will accept info about the warhammer 40k universe general rule of thumb is fun is king here

success, sorry about dieing the warp is a weird and painful place to get lost in. writing.
>>
You chuckle a bit as the cultists begin moving and within a heartbeat your sniper and reloaded and another cultist is in your sights. "so who wants to be first in line for execution?"

a cultist tries to make a dash to some nearby weapons before his cranium is hollowed out by your bullet.

"Thank you, now then who is next?"

with this the cultists go into disarray, they probably were not expecting a sudden assault and being caught unaware did nothing to help the moral, also having quite a few of their stronger looking members go down within moments of the fight also probably made them take a hit to the moral as well.

Mirasi and Terisa join the fray, bolts and mind bullets flying in each direction you hear a cultist yell "OY SULLY IS DOWN!"

oh we hit our target, nice!

the room is now in complete chaos for several seconds and suddenly you hear a voice like silken honey pieces the chaos "what goes on here my lovelies? How may Lust ease your burdens?"

A woman walks out and you cannot decide if she is beautiful or hideous but her presence rallies the cultists and calms them down, you also notice that Valrisa has eviscerated her opponents and now is staring at the woman with uncontrolled hate.

We don't need something that can ger us accused of heresy. We already have a ton of that. Plus if anyone wants a romance subplot there are way safer options. Like a woodchipper or a chainsword.

Not wasting a moment to add another named cultist to your list of killed important peoples you take a shot at lust.

the bullet takes her in the arm and her response was quite different than what you expected, instead of crying out in pain she simply smiles and caresses the wound with joy

"ah how the pain cuts though me, how the agony makes me want to scream. Blessed am I to feel this emotion, Slaanesh your servant thanks you for this gift!" she coos at you almost mockingly

you take another shot at her but this time she dodges it before you feel something attempt to worm its way into your mind.

Unfortunately for this Slaanesh worshiper you had experience with creatures trying to get into your mind, and compared to Thera this thing's attempts were clumsy and weak.

you notice the creature's eye twitch with annoyance "damnable servant of the corpse emperor, how dare you deny the glory of Slaanesh in your life!"

you notice the cultists have armed themselves by now and are beginning to advance on you and your comrades.

You decide that more dakka is required in this situation and you willingly oblige "OPEN FIRE!" you roar at the top of your lungs.

as you roar this you take another shot into the crowd blowing off a cultist head and wounding the one behind him.

your second shot goes wide as the cultists charge you making the sniper far less effective, so you pull out your bolter

Mirasi takes several shots as well but they all miss their intended targets, a few hitting but no lethal wounds.

Valrisa on the other hand, a bit too gleefully, charges the cultists and begins hacking and slashing her way though them towards Lust.

now the cultists are near enough to be considered quite the threat, you start to realize though you are not surrounded you are getting to that point

>[1] Retreat now, this is a tactically unsound position and we need to run (agx2 tghx2)

welp I just passed out for a bit so we pausing for tonight, I will be back around 6pm pst Wednesday. It's three rolls total from for each roll option, after that you can still roll and take those rolls after the initial three but it will cost 10 fame which you do have a lot of.

You open fire on the cultists who proceed to charge, several heads are blown off and limbs are sent flying by the modified bolter.

The first wave of cultists is quickly ruined by this powerful weapon, you wonder who actually modified it and can you hire them to do the same for all your weapons.

The second wave fares worse than the first as they are pushed forward by their peers your bullets fell them one by one.

Unfortunately the third wave that comes at you succeeds at getting to melee combat and you take several hits you were not prepared for (-7 wounds) their crude weapons slash into your armor which takes the brunt of the damage but is not enough to ward off all of it.

Mirasi finally managing to figure out how to shoot a bolter picks off the cultists who managed to get close to you

"SIMUN WE NEED TO RETREAT THERE ARE TOO MANY!" she roars over the din of battle.

you note Valrisa has managed to cut her way to Lust and is engaging her with feral snarls replacing insults, her face tells you she has reached the point where there was no way you were getting her to retreat.

Terisa stands behind you erecting a small barrier to give you some room to breath and make a decision on what to do.

>[1] call the retreat, we are out numbered here and any more engagements may lead to less than optimal results (Agx2 tghx2)
>[2] Keep firing, you are the emperor's holy inquisition you do not fucking retreat from combat with the imperium's foes! (Wsx2, Bsx2, Wp)

>>[3] Yell for Terisa to do some crowd control, we need to stop this chaos and regroup take a superior position. (Terisa wpx2, ag, int)
Option 1 might cause us to get Valrisa wounded or killed even on success as we would be leaving her. Option 2 won't be as useful when we are already in disadvantage. However slamming the opponents with an AoE might cause enough damage to have a chance to win.
>>
Amazing quest by the way, Soup. Just caught up with. To be honest, I expected way more reaction from the characters that knew Simun before he got stuck. I think Thera even didn't really react to it when she found out and most were surprised for only several seconds and then behaved like nothing happened and never mentioned it again. I'm curious, is there an IC reason for this or you just don't want to focus on that part?

"TERISA KNOCK THEM DOWN!" you roar at the top of your lungs and the crackle of lightning behind you lets you know she was on in.

well except it does not, instead you notice all food inside the room suddenly goes moldy and grey, you hear a small "oops" from terisa behind you.

just as you are letting your breath out and preparing yourself for death by a cultist as they once more begin striking at you, Terisa's shield does not hold and the weapons break though (-12 wounds) the weapons collide with you and several find holes in your armor.

you recoil from the blows and stumble back, as you do you notice a container labeled promethium placed near the center of the room fueling a generator..... wait.....

I think it was intentionally first introduced when rigged dice were a problem to suddenly stop crit streaks. Since then it is a historical part of some systems.

also it is psyker rules, double success causes us to roll on the psyker phenomena scale and can also lead to perils because the psyker pulled too much power.

You quickly regain your balance and roar at Terisa "AGAIN BUT THIS TIME BETTER!" and you pray she does

Mirasi on the other hand has given up on Terisa getting it right and quickly repositions herself behind a knocked over table "SIMUN GET TO COVER!"

just before she takes a shot at the promethium container you hear lightning and suddenly a blast of warp energy erupts from the little psyker blasting all the cultists away from your position at high speeds.

lust is not spared from this being thrown against a wall where Valrisa gores her with a chainsword, but the bitch refuses to die moaning as though in ecstasy.

the mass amount of cultists on the other hand begin to slowly get tot their feet, several of them had ironically gotten impaled upon the chaos stars in the room.

You don't hesitate to take this advantage against the heretical cultists. Your gun raises and bolts fly. before the cultists even realize they are being fired upon again several of their number fall to the ground with massive holes running though them.

The cultists quickly scatter attempting to avoid the justice you dispense from your bolter but the flimsy material that makes up the cover they retreated to proves fatal to those taking cover behind it.

"BY THE EMPEROR'S HOLY INQUISITION BE PURGED!" you roar popping off another cultist head before you realize their number had been reduced significant by the combined firepower of you Mirasi and Terisa.

You quickly switch targets to Lust who you swore you saw her cored though but her stomach seems to have healed in the meantime.

you quickly take a shot at her head, but she nimbly dodges out of the way "Aw I thought you could actually hit me, I'm so disappointed."

she licks one of her fingers seductively and beckons you to come towards her.
