Welcome to Do Your Best Quest, a slice of life modern day adventure with supernatural elements, where our main character is playing a role in an interdimensional battle royal between demons. Does he want to win it? Does he want to stop it? We don’t know yet, but we know he’s trying to do his best; and that’s all that matters to him.

It’s April 28, another peaceful Friday morning… You just had a meeting between every single participant of the great battle in the Distant Frontier while ‘dreaming’. Everything ended up being chaotic and frankly, a shitfest, it seems most of your opponents are full of themselves; you have to be cautious from now on. What lies in the future is uncertain.
You remember the mighty voice talking about an application for your ‘electronic devices’, you take your cellphone out to check it out, indeed there is an app you’ve never seen before. You press it. There is only a giant countdown ticking and an empty newsfeed down below. The countdown ends June 4. Holy moly, there is a lot of time to kill to even begin the first round… You open up your team’s chat, they want to meet up today, your meeting was supposed to be Saturday, but these news agitated them.

Do you want to meet up today?

>Yes. The sooner the better.
>No. Saturday is fine. We have a lot of time to kill.

“The sooner the better.” You shrug while typing you’re willing to have the meeting at your apartment after school. It seems no one opposes to the idea, they were going to be here tomorrow anyway, at least you remember inviting them.
You skipped classes yesterday, so today is a brand new day to amend for your mistake. You remember you have to pay 20 Gor$ back to Terrance. Anyway time to go.
During your ride, you overheard a conversation between office works. It seems the Super Hero you’ve hear about lately has saved people around town, he’s turning skeptics around with his good deeds. It seems his next strike is going to be against the terrorist group. Hmm… Nothing of your concern.
During one of the early recess of today while most of the classroom is deserted, Scarlet sat in the desk in front of yours, she looks a bit displeased.

“Soooo… You haven’t followed my regime.” She delicately grabs your hair.
“Sorry, I was busy doing other stuff, like my job.”
“Anyway, were you sick yesterday?” She wonders. “I was worried about you.” If she really was she would have text you.
“I had an issue to resolve yesterday.”
“Hmm…”
“Right, I’ve to give Terrance his money back.”
“Why?” Scarlet asks.
“He funded our little shopping adventure.”
“I mean, why would you pay him back? It’s just Terry. Keep your money, he won’t mind.”
“What do you mean?”
“He’s kind of the wooorst! Remember the other day? Wasn’t he pesky? He’s the type of people who pretends to be nice… But if you want you can give me the money and I tell him you pay him but I kept the money because he owed to me or something.” She stares at her nails.

Scarlet doesn’t seem to like Terrance one bit. If you don’t keep the money she’ll get mad at you… But you want to repay Terrance…

What do you do?

>”Osgood doesn’t like this type of attitude, you know? I’ll give him his money later.”
>”Here, have it. It’s your responsibility. But remember, it’s Terrance’s.” Give her 20 Gor$.

(Threw a coin to decided the tiebreaker. Won the Osgood comment.)

“Osgood doesn’t like this type of attitude, you know? I’ll give him his money later.”
“Uh?! W-what’s Osgood supposed to do with this? She gets flustered. “I was just saying because Terry is a complete tool. A-and you’re my friend I didn’t want him to take advantage of you! Those 20 bucks are the best thing you’re going to take out of him…”
“I want to pay my dues.”
“Whatever, do as you want.” She leaves somewhat mad at you.

During the lunch break you caught on with Terrance. You give him his money back, he looks midly pleased.

“This is new to me.” He says while counting the money.
“Hey, you made me a favor.”
“I mean, you know how Scarlet behaves. Anyway, thank you for paying me back.”
“Uh… Thank you for lending me the money.”
“It’s no problem.”

Classes went through as normally. Like Uccelli mentioned yesterday, she’s busy after classes, so you went directly to your apartment, the first meeting will be soon. You produly at your place, it is still clean from yesterday, so you don’t have to worry about that. What do you do in the meantime?

(Sorry for the late responses)

You decided to buy a variety of snacks for everyone to enjoy. Mini, pretzels, cheese dip, soda and the ingredient for mini sandwiches. You were mindful for the expenses and ended up spending 12 Gor$. You prepared everything to be ready for the guests, you hear the door and it’s none other than your sister, Amelia.

“Johnny! I bring some chips!” She smiles with her food at hand.
“Cool, good job.” You thumb up.
“Hehe.” She enters. “I’m the only one here?”
“Philonune is here.”
“S’up.” He says. You’re thinking he already lost all the grandeur in his way of speaking from before he met you.
“I can’t hear him if you don’t invoke, but hi Philo, Saravasti says hi too!”
“That’s not true.” Saravasti replies. You have no idea why, but you can hear her too. Or maybe you’re imagining things.

“Woo! You have soda.” She goes to the kitchen for a cup.

Second arriving is Uccelli, who is wearing a hoodie this time.

“Amelia, Ando, good to see you two.”
“Hi Ms. Uccelli. How have you been?”
“Decent.” She replies with a distant look.
“So that means bad, right?” Amelia ponders.
“Let’s not talk about this right now. Do you want something to eat? I prepared some snacks.” You say.
“Don’t mind if I do.” Uccelli says.
“I brought chips! You like chips, right?” Amelia skips around.
“I don’t mind them.”
“Excellent.”

Osgood has yet to arrive, and you’re together with both Uccelli and Amelia. You know Osgood has some type of charm that drives women crazy. Unknown to you is what is going to do with your two partners here. Maybe you need to talk about it.

>”So… My friend Osgood is kind of a charming guy, so please don’t be a nuisance to him.”
>”What type of guy you girls like again? It’s important.”
>”I don’t know how, but my friend Osgood makes girls go crazy around him, I hope none of you two fall for him.”

“How do you make hoodies look that good on you, Ms. Uccelli? It’s like a talent…” You flirt.
“Ando…” She stares daggers at you for second. “My hair must be a mess anyway.”
“What are you talking about, she doesn’t look good.” Amelia says without thinking.
“…” Uccelli covers herself with the hoodie even more.

“Now seriously, girls, I need to say something.” You get all serious.
“What is it?” Uccelli asks. She looks worried. Amelia just slightly tilts her head.
“I don’t know how, but my friend Osgood makes girls go crazy around him, I hope none of you two fall for him.”
“Fall for him?” Uccelli looks confused. “Wait; don’t tell me you’re going to get jealous.” Uccelli wants to tease.
“I’m not ready for my first love.” Amelia says flustered.
“First? Aren’t you 16? Shouldn’t you have some type of crush already or at least at some point?” Uccelli says.
“You’re the only one old here.” Amelia retorts.
“I-I’m not old.” Uccelli replies. This is getting childish. You want to stop this conversation.

“You’re almost 40! You sho—“
“I’m 28.” Uccelli interrupts almost immediately with a monotone tune.
“You… Nah, that can’t be right….” Amelia, stop. “You just said that to feel be—“
Uccelli interrupts your sister again by showing her ID card. Awkward silence ensues.

“…I-I’m s-s-s-sorry, I thought you were older… But it’s not because you look old! No! It’s because you act old! Like my boss or the owner of the antique store!” Amelia is spilling her spaghetti, so to speak.
“…” Uccelli has a blank stare.
“I-I mean you barely knew how to use your phone b-before I helped you and… and…” Amelia is incredibly nervous. It’s like watching a train wreck unfold.
“…”
“Amelia, stop.” You finally had the courage to stop her. “Please forgive her.”
“Forgive her for what? She’s being sincere. We’re not here to discuss any of this anyway.” She sits in the couch, she says everything with monotone tone again and a blank face.

You finally heard the door being knocked, it’s Osgood, probably. You open the door.

“Sorry, for being late I was stuck in the train; it seems some type of accident happen and… Why I feel an ominous atmosphere inside?”
“I don’t know, Amelia probably fart or something.” You shrug. You hear Amelia screaming inside at you. “It’s a joke.”
“I hope so.” He laughs and enters. Both Amelia and Uccelli turn around to see him.

“Oh, I get what you meant before, Ando. Hello my name is Nina Uccelli.” Uccelli says while looking at Osgood. She doesn’t seem interested on him in the slightness but she can recognize her attractiveness.
“Hi, Nina. I’m Osgood Gaumont. It’s very nice to meet you.”
“Everyone here calls me Uccelli, I’m used to by now.” She gives a faint smile.
“Then Uccelli it is.”

“He told me you were attractive.”
“Amelia...” You said.
“…Wait. You don’t find me attractive?”
“No, not really.”
Osgood’s eyes open wide. He puts his hands on Amelia’s shoulders and says: “Thank you.” Amelia looks incredibly confused. You laugh. Uccelli looks at you wondering what is going on.

“I’m Amelia Tomah, I’m Johnny’s sister.”
“But you don’t share last name.”
“We have different dads.”
“So you don’t have anything to do with Stan, uh?” He replies.
“Nope!” Amelia sits on the couch.

“Let’s get to it” You say. “Our first meeting as a team!... Now what?”
“We need to discuss what happened yesterday.”
“Oh! Oh! I’ve something to say!” Amelia bounces on the couch.

Like Amelia, everyone seems to have taken out something about the inter-dimensional meeting. Who you want to hear first?

“The first one who got here gets to talk first, followed by the person to their right. So Amelia if you please.” After her goes Osgood, then Uccelli and finally you.

“Ehem… Looks at this!” Amelia stands up and shows the app from her cellphone.
“We all have it.” Osgood doesn’t look impressed.
“But watch this.” She leaves phone on the table, the application disappears the moment she stops holding the phone. “It reacts to the flame user than really being an app on the phone. Maybe this way we can find flame users without us needing Johnny to see them. Johnny, hold my phone.” She lends it to you. Like she said, the app appears when you’re holding it too.

“I don’t know how this can help us exactly, is not like we can throw people their phones and see if they have an app or not. It’s barely noticeable.” Uccelli asks.
“Yes, but it’s useful to us, we only have to peek in other phones.”
“That makes me feel even more paranoid.” Osgood scratches his head.
“But really, it wasn’t my main point. Maybe we can get someone tech savvy or something and see how this app operates. The source code is in it. But I don’t know programming…”
“What if it’s all demon magic or something?” Osgood is skeptic.
“But the code is there! It’s something worth to look at. In my opinion.”
“We will see, it doesn’t sound like complete nonsense to me at least.” Uccelli backs Amelia up.
“That’s all I had to say anyway, I was too busy shouting at the meeting.” Amelia sits.

“It’s your turn Osgood.” You point at Osgood, for some odd reason you’re acting as moderator. Maybe it’s because it’s your apartment.
“It’s not nearly as thought provoking as yours” He points to Amelia. “But during the meeting I overheard some of the contestants.”
“And?” You ask.
“Two of them were chatting said the name of the other one by mistake.” He takes his phone out and read aloud. “Harper.”
“Only his last name.” Uccelli says.
“Yeah, it was at the very beginning when everyone was looking around, they spotted each other and he yelled his name.”
“So we have to found this Harper guy?” Amelia asks.
“I don’t think Osgood thinks that, only we’ve to have an eye open.”
“Exactly. Sorry for not being of great help.”

“Ms. Uccelli, it’s your turn.”
“I actually just didn’t just heard people talking, but I chat with someone. He was very relaxed and said about doing a meeting this Sunday at the Monumental Stadium, you know where it is, right? He said to be there at 10pm. I don’t think we should take his offer, but if something happens there we will know that maybe they were participants. Also he was one of the calmest people in there, he didn’t even bother to move when everyone was making a fool out of themselves.”

“I disagree with your last sentence, I thought it was quite cool” Amelia says jokingly.
“…Anyway, he talked about teaming up to save the world. It’s quite the bait, honestly.” Uccelli adds.

“Oh right, it’s my turn.” You really don’t have anything to say. “Well, I don’t know if you were able to see her, but Constance was on stage with the entities. Maybe this judge talk wasn’t all lies from Athelone.”
“Oh right, I was able to see you too.” Osgood says. “And that super hero man…”
“Wildflame? The one from the news?” Amelia asks.
“Yeah, that one…” Osgood replies.
“Maybe there was some type of requirement to be able to see someone there.” Uccelli says.
“I was able to see you three and Constance. But that was it.”
“Hey, Saravasti wants to talk.” Amelia invokes her bear.
“Finally! I told to bring me here before!”
“Sorry!”
“If my instincts don’t fail me, you need to see their entity’s true identity once to be able to see them there.”
“Any way to prove it?” Osgood asks.
“I’m a goddess of knowledge! Just believe me, okay?” Saravasti seems offended.
“That’s… quite the entity.” Uccelli looks amazed.
“She’s adorable and huggable.” Amelia grabs Saravasti and hugs her.
“Stop! STOP! STOP!” The bear tries to free herself, but she’s unable to.
“You’re still adorable.” You said to the bear.
“I didn’t come here to be ridiculed! Good bye!” She goes back to being a flame. Poor Saravasti. Maybe she had something else to say.

“Okay, that was… cute.” Osgood shrugs. “But we have more important matters to attend to.”
“I suppose you want to know what are we going to do from now on. The first battle is June 4.” Uccelli says.

You wonder what you should do next.

“We should go to the stadium this Sunday.” You say.
“That’s a ridiculous idea.” Osgood replies.
“Hear me out first; I think it would be smart for us to scout this meeting, I can see the flames, remember?”
“Do you really think it’s worth the risk?” Osgood asks.
“If we get information about the ‘other players’ then yes, it’s worth the risk in my opinion.”

“Ando, the ‘game’ is not about killing or getting rid of the rest of the players.” Uccelli replies. “Besides, wasn’t our true objective to stay away from harm? This war is nonsensical to begin with.”
“For us to be safe is for us to win, there is no other way.” You tell Uccelli.
“I agree; we can’t go on pretending nothing bad is happening, not now that we have a chance to win.” Osgood backs you up. “Honestly, I planned to stay away from this too. But after seeing all these maniacs spewing shit about conquering the world, it made me realize we’re the only hope for this world.”
“Watch your language.” Her teacher instincts are showing.
“Sorry, ma’am.” Osgood responds. “My point still stands. We can win, I’m sure of it.”

“Everyone, we need to focus.” You say. “I do think we should go to the meeting as in ‘participating’… We just need to observe it.”
“I’ll back you up with Saraswati.” Amelia says. “It’s for me to get some action.” She gets excited.
“Amelia, it’s not a game.” You say.
“Anyway, let’s go to the stadium, we only have to be cautious, that’s all.” Amelia smiles. You and Osgood nod. It seems he was somehow convinced with what you said.

“I guess it’s decided.” Uccelli gives up.
“We will meet early in the day, so we go prepared, okay?” Osgood says.
“Should we get some weapons?” You ask.
“Are guns effective against entities?” Amelia asks.
“You two, stop. I’m not going to let you two run around with guns. Besides they are illegal here and I highly doubt any of us knows how to buy them from the black market. And don’t let me start talking about the prices…”
“I don’t have any money either.” Osgood shrugs.
“I’ve some money from my job!” Amelia says.
“I have the feeling it’s not going to be enough.” Uccelli replies. “Just you have to promise me to not take any risks. We don’t know how dangerous this could turn.” You’ve already defeated 4 flame users, what does she know?
“Is there anything else we need to discuss? I need to leave soon.” Osgood looks at his phone’s clock.

Have you ever read a book? No one formats dialogue like this. And those aren't paragraphs. Since you can't indent on 4chan, paragraphs are made by putting an extra line instead.

Like so. This makes it into two separate paragraphs. Look at the last post. It's 4 paragraphs with lines of speech. Fucking seriously? How can you possibly say this is cleaner? When was space ever a concern on 4chan? God forbid we run out of it.

And by the way, that's not even what reading comprehension means.

You remember one important subject to discuss; Athelone said Constance will wake up from her slumber tomorrow, you promised her to visit the little mummy. You mention this to your companions.

“Oh right, Ms. Uccelli and I haven’t meet her yet.” Amelia remembers.
“I technically didn’t meet her either.” Osgood replies. It’s true, he only saw Constance sleeping while you were busy talking to her while in trance.
“We had the meeting planned, so I suppose this wouldn’t be a problem to anyone.” Uccelli says.
“Actually, it is a problem for me. I postponed my study session from today, so I was planning on doing it tomorrow.”
“I like how you're taking your studies seriously. But this little girl needs company, besides she’s one of the greatest assets this team has.” Uccelli responds to Osgood. He doesn’t seem to be pleased.
“I’m already sacrificing Sunday for this crazy meeting at the stadium. I don't want to waste my time babysitting this little girl tomorrow with you all.”
“Wow, that’s kind of shitty of you.” Amelia says to the insensitive Osgood.

“T-tomorrow is a bad day for me, it wasn’t my intention to sound insensitive. I can go Monday with Johnny, if nothing bad happens Sunday.” Poor Osgood is trying his best, but you can tell he feels uncomfortable.
“Then us three will go tomorrow.” You say. Amelia and Uccelli nod.
“Well, if no one has anything else to mention, I’ll be going.” Osgood looks at his clock; he seems to be in a hurry.
“I’ll be going too.” Uccelli gets up.

You remember Saturdays are poker night at Craig’s apartment, maybe that’s the reason Osgood is trying to avoid visiting Constance. But you can go early in the day so it shouldn't be problem to him... Hmm...

You figured it out, Osgood is going on a date with Scarlet! “Oh shit, did you finally agree to go out with Scarlet?” You say.
“Ando… Don’t swear.” Uccelli says.
“Sorry.” You reply.
“Wait, Scarlet? Is she the same Scarlet I’m thinking of?” Uccelli says.
“Yes.” You say.
“Johnny…” Osgood looks displeased.

“Who’s Scarlet?” Amelia asks enthusiastically, she enjoys hearing people talk about dating and romance.
“Scarlet Pantone, she’s one of my students. I think she’s classmates with Johnny too.”
“Oh my!” Amelia giggles.

“Good luck with her Osgood. You’ll need it.” Uccelli grins.
“Don’t hold your hopes up, I’m not dating her.” Osgood seems annoyed with the conversation. “But I do have a date soon… I should’ve kept that one for myself.” He says sarcastically at the end there, as he stared at you smirking the whole time; Osgood probably wants you to tell Scarlet about it. “Well, time to go. I’ll see you Sunday.”
“Pay attention to your phone tomorrow, we still have to decide how we are going to deal with Sunday’s meeting.”
“Aye, aye.” Osgood leaves.

“It was a pleasure but I have to go too, thank you for the snacks, Ando. Also we will go to the hospital before lunch, okay?”
“That early...?” Amelia seems bum out.
“C’mon, you do it every day, it’s not that bad.” Uccelli smiles at Amelia.
“If you say so…” Amelia is not convinced.
“I’ll see you two tomorrow.” Uccelli leaves the apartment.

You haven’t spent much time with her lately, so playing a game with her should be fun.

“Want to play some games?” You ask your little sister.
She gets all bubbly before answering. “Yes! I bought a new game! I know you wanted it! It’s ‘Like a Dragon 0’.” It’s an action game. You played the previous entries.
“Cool, let’s take out my 'Station of Play'.”

Like most of the time, Amelia is only going to watch you play. The game is as fun as its prequels, you didn’t expect any less. While playing you had a neat conversation with your sister, she told you about her week and her constant worries about the most mundane things; like what the costumers are thinking while she works, if her new hairstyle fits her, and other dumb things. You told her to take it easy.
Also your sister seems to spend too much time in the library thanks to Saraswati, who seems to prioritize Amelia’s studies over everything else in her life, like games, her job and even visiting you; she seems to have a strict schedule thanks to her bear and her father, and she feels lonely even though she has someone watching over her all day.

“Should I change the way I’m doing things? I don’t think I’m getting any smarter.” She asks.

It’s time to help your sister! What great big brother advice you want to give her?

Amelia’s predicament is that she feels lonely and stressed. The best thing she needs is to find a friend to hang out with in school. But first you need to make clear something about that bear.

“I have to say your new hairstyle’s great. Makes you look a bit older but good. You’re doing great. Like I said just take it easy.“
“Thanks.” She gets all happy after you compliment her hair. She leans her head on your shoulder. You feel like you’re a reliable brother.

“By the way, why don’t you ask Saraswati to teach you some material related to the tourney?”
“She tried, but I was too dumb to understand…”
“That’s not a nice thing to say.”
“But it’s the truth. She did say I’ll get there soon; she has high expectations of me. I don’t want to disappoint her.”
“If you feel Saraswati’s pressuring you too much just tell me. I’m here for you as always.”
“Thanks Johnny.” You can feel the stress coming off of her body. She does really need friends.

“But if you’re really feeling lonely, maybe you need to find a friend. No boyfriends though.”
She moves her head away from you. “I-I don’t think I can get a boyfriend… You know I have problems talking to strangers alone.”
“It will be good for you to find someone to talk to in school.”
“I-I’ll try. And I know, no boyfriends.”
“Good girl.” You headpat her. She probably enjoys it more than most dogs you’ve met in your lifetime. You stop. “I wanted to ask you… Is your Dad treating you OK?”
“No… Yes… I mean, you know him. It is what it is; but you get used to it.”

Her dad became distant and somewhat protective the moment your mother died; he usually wants Amelia to be quiet at home, and not to invite friends to the house. He controls almost all aspects of Amelia’s life, he was the one who got her job, he handpicked her school and such. Since Amelia is such a calm and nice girl he’s somewhat lenient with her and lets her do what she wants if she tells him beforehand, that includes staying with you; but both of you know the moment she starts misbehaving, he’s going to make Amelia’s life even duller. Amelia still loves him even though she resents him a lot for kicking you out, the lifestyle doesn’t help either.

“I thought you didn’t want to talk about him ever again.” Amelia says.
“I’m not asking about him, I just care about you.”
“…I see. You live here alone, right?... Nevermind…" You played for a minute before she resumes talking "C’mon, kick their asses!” Amelia starts paying attention to the game, she goes back to being the Amelia you know and love.

After two hours of fabulous gameplay and fun conversations, Amelia checked her clock and decided it’s time for her to go.

“Remember we wake up early tomorrow, Constance needs our support.”
“Yeah, don’t worry, I won’t forget.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Take care, don’t sleep late. See if you ask Uncle Joel if you could stay over on weekend sometime. It’d be better if you asked so he doesn’t freak out and lock you in a basement for not asking.” You joke.
“Hehehe! I won’t! I’ll ask for next week! is that okay with you?” She looks cheerful.
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Yay! It’s going to be fun! Bye bye Johnny!” Amelia leaves the apartment with a glorious smile on her face. She’s all excited now that you two will have a slumber party of sorts soon.

Being the hypocrite that you’re, you decided that before going to sleep you’re going to shitpost in the internet. You want to find boards that give fashion advice; your mission is to look good. In fact, you also decided to follow Scarlet’s instructions from the other day to see if you can finally pull off by yourself your good looks from then.
With your new found knowledge and techniques, you finally level up your Handsomeness stat! You’re level 2! You’re not ugly anymore! If you’re someone’s type there is a chance they fall in love with you.

What a beautiful Saturday morning! You are sleepy, but you have a promise to fulfill! Time to go to the hospital! You take out your best casual clothes and wear them proudly.

You decided to buy them sweets and a book for Constance. The sweets were an easy choice. But the book, where do you start? What kind of book Constance would like? This old store seems to have a great variety of novels than your regular book store; surprisingly it's all very tidy. The cashier is an old lady who looks like discomposed pumpkin and she’s busy reading a novel. You decided to ask her for advice.

“Excuse me, can you recommend me a book for a little girl? She’s 8.” You think she’s 8. Maybe 9? Who knows?
“Welcome to my humble store, young one. Oh my, for a little girl…?” She puts her fingers in her chin. “There is so much to recommend. That’s the beauty of books.”
“She liked one called ‘The Crystal Princess and the Ashes of Dreams’.”

“Oh my… That book is not suited for a little girl.”
“She loves it though.”
“Well, I think this is the type of book she would love to read.” She hands you an old book, it’s so old you can’t read the title.
“What’s this?” You ask her.
“Don’t worry, trust me.” The old lady smiles. “It’s in a bad state, so I’ll ask you only for 10 Gor$”

Well, it’s not like you want to risk more money in a book she wouldn’t like. You flip through the book very quickly to see what’s about; nothing ‘offensive’ stands out at all, you’re going to trust the old lady with the rest of it.

“You got yourself a deal, lady.” You pay for the mysterious book.
“I’m sure it won’t disappoint her. Come back soon.” The lady grins. Even if you’re unsure about all of its content, you think you made a bargain.

You meet up with Uccelli and Amelia outside the hospital, they both were very glad to see you.

“You look… cool for some reason.” Amelia comments.
“He does look bet—” She stops midsentence, she doesn’t want to say something she’ll regret. “… I mean, we can comment on each other looks while walking.” Uccelli hurries you two.

Last time you were here you had to bring a hobo to Constance's room in the dumbest way imaginable; thankfully today’s mission is far easier. You’re outside of Constance’s room. Lise is leaning on the door and about to doze off.

“Lise, are you okay?” You ask her. You ended up surprising her.
“Johnny?! Is that you?” She seems to be having a hard time recognizing you.
“Yes, I’m 100% sure I’m me.” You joke.
“You look… different. Wait who are these people?”
“These are…” You present each other. “We came here to visit Constance.”
“She’s still asleep; I don’t know what you can take out of her right now. Well, you somehow were able to talk to her before, so I won’t stop you if you want to go inside and do your black magic or whatever.”

There are ways to make sure she wakes up. But you don’t think it would be necessary if you’re patient enough.

>”Don’t worry; I know a way to communicate with her.” Go in trance and hope for Athelone to answer.

You’re waiting for a sick little child to wake up from a coma after being in an incredible stresful situation, so bothering her in any way would be unwise.

“Well, we can chat in the meantime. It’s not like she’s going anywhere.” You shrug.
“No offense, but I don’t want to talk to any of you. The less I get involved with your demon shenanigans the better.”
“While I agree on principle, it would be ill advised to ignore everything when you’ve to take care of Constance.” Uccelli replies.
“It’s not like I want to take care of her. Besides I'm just here until she wakes up.” Lise looks uncomfortable.
“It’s still dangerous if you don’t know what is going on. We don't know what could happen.” You say.
“…Screw it; I guess this is a good chance to finally understand what’s happening.” Lise gives up. “So, tell me...” She stares at the group; Uccelli and Amelia turn their gazes onto you, everyone expects you to start talking.

“Okay, I’ll explain everything.” You clear your throat. “You two can jump in and feel free to comment on something I may have missed or you think is important.” Both of them nod.

You began explaining to Lise everything that is going on so far - from the war, how flames interact, how Constance is involved in all of this, why you brought in the hobo the other day, what to be careful of and how you ended up in here. Uccelli was the only one who corrected you in a thing or two, but basically Lise had the gist of all of it.

“Oh my god, I’m going to die in a year?” Lise’s not taking it well.
“Not if one of us ends up winning.” You reply.
“You really think you can fucking win?!” Lise angrily responds.
“…” Uccelli and Amelia look uncomfortable. Lise notices what her words caused and looks remorseful.
“We will win… Or in the very least we’ll do our best.” You say.

“…S-sorry. I didn’t want to cause any harm. My parents never mentioned the world destruction or anything like that, so it caught me off guard.”
“Your parents?” Amelia says. “What do they have to do with this?”
“I’m not sure. I mentioned this to Johnny, my father is a policeman and my mother is a scientist, both of them are busy working on something related to this; but I’ve no idea. They just left me to take care of Constance and that’s it. If I knew more I would tell you.”
“So the government knows?” Uccelli asks.
“I don’t think this is the kind of thing you can hide from them, is it?” Lise replies.
“Are we going to fight the military?” Amelia is scared.
“…Why did you jump straight to the military?” Uccelli wonders.

The gloomy atmosphere bugs you; you decided to check on your favorite Mummy.

“Uhm… I’ll check on Constance. I’ll be right back.” You say as you open the door to her room. She’s awake, she weakly waves at you. You slowly close the door behind you.
“Hi Johnny.” Her voice barely comes out. “Y-you—” You interrupt her.
“Hey! I bought you a present.” You put the book you bought next to the one she had from before. “It was an old lady’s recommendation.”
“…Yo—” She still has trouble to talk.
“Can you type? I can hand you your new phone.” She nods. Slowly she writes something.
“You look cool.” She wrote. She looks embarrassed by what she wrote.
“Thanks.”

“You feeling better?” You ask.
“Yes.” She writes.
“That’s good. Sorry about bringing that hobo last week. He and his partner started a fight at a restaurant. I had to intervene.”
“It’s ok. I’m glad I’m of help.” She types. You can tell she’s trying her best to type quickly, but her body is failing her.
“I brought some friends today with me, can they come in?”
She nods. Her movements are still sluggish.

You go out of the room and call them in. Lise refused to go; she said Constance would be happier if she doesn’t enter yet. Her loss, I guess.
You present Amelia and Uccelli to her, Uccelli was shocked to see her like that at the beginning; she never imagined Constance being in this state, meeting someone mummified is not something the average person gets to experience. Amelia already saw her before, so she’s somewhat used to her quirkiness. Good thing Uccelli kept her uneasiness to herself and didn’t make the situation uncomfortable.
It was weird and difficult to have any type of conversation going with Constance since she barely moves, but you can tell she is enjoying everyone’s company. Uccelli and Constance had a small ‘conversation’ about Constance’s favorite book; they’ll get into it deeper when Constance is able to properly talk again. Amelia promised Constance to bring her a plushie, because that’s something she likes. Before finally dozing off again, Constance asked you to keep an eye on her friends at Calamity’s clinic; you wonder why she keeps calling them friends… Everything ended up being a pleasant time for everyone involved.

Amelia and Uccelli part ways with you after leaving the room. Amelia told her dad she was going to come back to lunch, and Uccelli left some work for home and needs to take care of it. You told them to take care. You don’t know when, but Lise left too.

You found yourself alone… It’s time for lunch; maybe you could do something in the meantime… You still have most of your snacks, they barely touched them…

You decided to go and take a walk around here. I don’t know what could be interesting about this hospital, but who knows? Maybe you will find a flame user or something neat, even with that possibility you stroll around without much excitement.

In one of the biggest halls, where most patients are waiting for their turn to arrive, two things caught your attention:

One is Lise sleeping and occupying half a row of seats. Good thing this place is far from being full. She’s exhausted for some reason.
The other one is Dr. Calamity, he’s talking to one of the receptionist. You wonder why he is here.
You don’t really feel like dealing with weird or irritated people today…

This place is a dump, you feel bad for Constance. You decided to leave and walk around the neighborhood around the hospital.

The Center District of Pokyo Lokyo is very hectic at times; the streets are full of passers-by. You barely have space to walk around. During your stroll you find the ‘Il Grande Café’, the place where you and Uccelli met to talk about the flames for the first time, you feel nostalgic; even though it happened like a week ago. You decided not to bother entering.
Unexpectedly you hear a crowd gathering near you, they point up to the top of one of the tallest buildings, one that holds a giant screen at the middle, this time the screen is not important, because up the top of the building there is a man. He’s wearing a weird costume and he looks like an eccentric bodybuilder…

“It’s Wildflame!”
“Wildflame! We love you!”
“Holy shit! He’s here!”
“STEROIDS!”
“Someone call the police!”
“YES!”
“WAIRUDOFUREA!”

The crowd yells at the man at top. It’s the superhero from the news, Wildflame! And he has a dark flame in his forehead and a megaphone at hand!

“Citizens of Pokyo Lokyo! It’s me! Your new hero, WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILDFLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!” Part of the crowd explodes in cheers. You see some reporters filming this bullshit. “THE HOSTS OF REBELLION! I came here once again to call you dirtbags out…” Oh god, he’s starting a speech and he sounds like an 80s wrestler.

…You decided to just stare in sheer dumbfounded awe at how ridiculous this guy looks and sounds. It’s like you can’t stop watching.

“… With your false pretenses of carrying justice in the name of the people you desperately want to make them THINK you are in their side, but nooo, that’s not the JUSTICE we fight for, the JUSTICE, we the people of Praincijan want or need. I’m the living proof of what true justice looks like, I’m the heartbeat of this nation, I’m the one who is going to save us from them, because they are not part of US, they are the evil that must be EX-TER-MI-NA-TED!!”

What the actual fuck is he talking about? He’s not saying anything! It’s all incoherent rambling. While he keeps spouting shit from his mouth, you surreptitiously look for an exit. You’re totally just an innocent civilian, doing his best. You start moving away from the middle of the crowd… Escape route secured!

“As MY FLAME gets bigger! As my SOUL touches the people’s souls! AS MY MUSCLES SHOW YOU THE WAY TO STARDOM! I SHALL NOT BE DEFEATED! I’M WILDFLAME! AND. THIS. IS. MY. PLEDGE. TO. YOU. Terrorists! Your time is up! And I’ll be the one who will tear you down, now… WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN—” Wildflame is interrupted by the big TV down below him.

The screen starts showing static, then suddenly shows a black figure sitting in a room with a spotlight on him.

“Greetings, citizens of Pokyo Lokyo. I’m the leader of The Hosts of Rebellion.” His voice is distorted. At this point you’re used to everyone having them.
“A-HA! So you finally showed your face.” Wildflame says.
“Dictator Gordon. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of playing games. We tried to clean up our image after you blamed us for the attacks directed at your cronies. We know for sure it was an inside job, but no one believe us. And we’re tired of that, ‘playing games’, playing for ‘reputation’, playing your game with your rules. But if you want to blames us for a crime we didn’t commit, I think we also should be blamed for the ones we did.” He claps the room he is in lights up. Behind him there are corpses from three guys you don’t know, but you’re sure they are important. The crowd gasps and some of them scream in terror. “Who would have thought killing your right hand man would be this easy? Gordon, we are stronger than humans, we have developed weapons no scientist or army can develop. We have powers beyond your comprehension; it’s just a matter of time before we take you down by force. So I recommend you to quit. That simple. Quit. Leave. We will clean up the mess, believe me; we’re capable of that and more…”

What an edgy bastard, he comes across as cringy instead of threating... Well he keeps talking…

What do you do?

>Get the fuck out. You’ve watched a lot of movies and you know this is the part where the explosions happen.
>Keep watching.
>Write In.

“I don’t know about you guys, but we should get away from here.” You say to the people near you.
“Why?” One skeptic says.
“Shh! I’m watching.” One idiot replies.
“It’s not a movie. You idiot.” One passerby says.
“No shit!” Another one says.
“C’mon, we need to get the hell out of here. No other TV is showing this! Maybe an attack will happen.” Someone else says.

A few sane minds leave with you to a safer place, some of them went their own respective ways, but you and the others ran towards the station, when you get there you hear an explosion! People are screaming from the direction you were! The hospital is far away from the attack, but you know it’s going to turn into hectic hell in few minutes. Another terrorist attack in less than a week…

“Good thing we didn’t stay there.” One of the people you convinced says.
“I can’t believe this happened again! Those fucking bastards! I should move to another city.” Another citizen says.
“Every part of this country has been attacked lately.” A girl says.
“Shouldn’t we go back to help other people?” A random guy says.
“You’ll have to pay me if you want me to go back there.” The same girl from before replies.
“The hospital is nearby; they should be fine, right?” One of the most cowardly of the bunch says.
"It's not as close by as you think it is." You say.
“I can’t stay here! I’ll go back to help.” The guy from before says.

The subway train appears behind you, the doors open… Last time you didn’t bother to help anyone, but now you saw a crowd full of people, a lot of them are in danger.

What do you do?

>Leave. You’re humanity’s last hope. You can't endanger yourself.
>Get back and help! Time to be a hero!
>Write In.

Stick with getting people out of the place, though. Don't try to interfere with the fight that's probably going on.

This, and make sure the other guy who also wants to go back and help is within your sight. More help is good.

The train’s doors close behind you. It’s time to be a helpful, law-abiding citizen! You decided to go back to help people, just helping them get out of the place though. Putting yourself at unnecessary risk made your Courage stat go up. Not enough to level up though.

“Wait!” You yell to the valiant guy who decided to go back to help. “I’ll go with you.”
“Then let’s move. People need our help!” He seems happy to have your assistance.

While getting back you receive a cellphone call! It’s from Amelia! She is very worried about you! You tell her you’re okay and not to worry. Then the moment you hang up, Uccelli calls you… same deal; you tell her you’re okay, and you’re going to help. She told you to be careful. Now time to help!

People are swarming away from the epicenter of the attack; you and the stranger start helping people get away from the danger, you’re helping move injured people to the station, things aren’t looking good. Slowly you start to get near to building where the attack happened, you look up, a big stream of smoke keeps coming out of it; in fact, the big screen is not there anymore. The fire starts propagating to other buildings. You hear cellphones ringing, it’s fucking obnoxious… Chaos continues to reign, but paramedics and firefighters are finally appearing in the scene… There is something bothering you coming from the burning building…

Sadly the thrilling conclusion of your rescue mission will have to wait. This is all we have for this week. See you next time and thanks for playing!

This session was weird… Anyway, here is a pic of Amelia staying late at night. If she’s quiet there is no problem. (I didn’t have the time to draw anything new. I’m sorry.)

Questions/Feedback/Comments/Drawing ideas and the like are always welcome and encouraged.
