Your body convulses as currents of electricity course through you. You find your mouth opening and a rather loud vocalization of your pain being ripped from your throat, but you take some solace in the fact that this doesn't hurt quite as badly as Jackie Chun's technique.

"Dad!" Trunks shouts in alarm, his eyes full of desperation as he tries to find a way to free you from whatever this strange attack of Cell's is.

He extends his right hand, facing his palm toward your body and gathering a bit of energy. A small orb of light appears over his palm; not enough to do any actual damage to you, but possibly enough to push you out of the attack.

"Sorry about this," Trunks tells you as he prepares to let his blast loose.

"Do what you need to do," you instruct your son, bracing yourself.

Trunks fires his blast, and a colorful flash of light blinds you as renewed pain surges through your body. Rather than a shock, however, you feel as if you were just struck by an extremely powerful energy attack. Once again, you cry out in pain, and soon after, you begin to fall backwards, injured and exhausted, toward the ground.

Trunks swoops in and catches you, a look of worry in his eyes as he gently floats to Earth.

"Well, that's unexpected, but not unwelcome," Cell's voice rings out.

Trunks scowls, his entire body trembling as he looks toward the monster. You wince in pain as you turn your head to see Cell, back in one piece, strolling toward the two of you with a smile on his face.

"How are you still alive?!" Trunks demands, his voice dripping with frustration.

Cell keeps on smiling as he steps closer. "Isn't it obvious? Piccolo is a part of my DNA."

Great, so no matter what injuries you give, he'll be able to heal them up within seconds. However, you know that Piccolo loses energy when healing wounds. Hopefully, the same proves true for Cell.

Trunks sets you down, doing his best to keep it from hurting you too much, then steps over your scorched form, letting out a challenging yell and letting his energy flare.

"You don't learn, do you, Trunks?" Cell questions, stopping where he is and letting his tail swing back and forth behind his body. "It would be so much easier for you if you just stepped aside."

"Not a chance," Trunks growls. "If you want him, you'll have to get through me!"

"That won't be a problem," Cell assures him. "If you're so intent on dying, then I'll be glad to help you along."

"You can do this," you tell your son, prompting hideous laughter from the monster he's about to face.

"You really are idiots!" he declares, stepping forward with confidence. "It must run in the family. Trunks, you don't have a prayer against me."

"We'll see about that," Trunks responds, taking a step forward.

"You still don't get it, do you?" Cell asks. "You're not dealing with just any fighter, boy. I'm the most powerful warrior in the universe! You couldn't even handle the likes of Android Nineteen! Do you honestly think you'll do anything but fail like you always have?"

Anger wells up inside of you. You try to rise to help your son put this smug bastard down, but find unbearable pain flash through your body as you make the effort. Falling back, you resolve to take a moment and regather some strength. You know Trunks can last, at least for a while.

An odd change seems to occur in Trunk's aura, and as you look up, you see the green light of the Kuma-Ken growing thicker, darker, and stretching further from his body.

"You're right, Cell," Trunks tells the beast. "I probably don't stand a chance. I've done nothing but fail to protect my world, my family, and my friends. But, if you think that means I'll just roll over and let you do as you please, then you've got another thing coming!"

He clenches his right hand into a fist, and his aura flares yet again.

"I've already seen one world turned into a living nightmare by Gero and his creations. I've seen too many friends die at the hands of monsters like you!" Trunks continues, the ground cracking, and chunks of rock rising around him before being turned to powder by his energy. "I won't watch that happen again! Do you hear me, Cell? As long as I'm still breathing, I won't give up. As long as I'm here, I will fight!"

Trunks lets out another roar, and you find yourself blown back by the burst of energy that follows.

Fighting through the pain, you look toward your son, who launches himself toward Cell, who drops into a defensive stance and braces for impact.

Trunks brings his fist toward Cell, who raises an arm to block it before reciprocating with a punch aimed at your son's face. Trunks ducks under the fist, bringing his own up into Cell's jaw. As the monster's head snaps back, Trunks brings another punch crashing into its gut. There's a massive light that seems to begin with that closed fist, and stretch to consume Cell, who lets out a fearful cry as it drags him away and slams him into a rocky outcropping. The natural tower crumbles, and a few moments later, Cell emerges from the rubble, sporting some bruises, along with some dark scorch marks.

"You're dead!" he declares, racing through the air toward your son, who rushes to meet the challenge.

The two fighters collide in a clash of power that sends you rolling back once again. The amount of energy out there is breathtaking. Both warriors are fighting at levels that shouldn't be possible at your current state, levels that could surpass you at your best.

You don't know where Trunks was hiding this kind of strength. Not once in your training did you see anything matching this raw power that now emanates from your boy.

Whatever this is, you're grateful for it, because Cell is fighting at a new level as well.

This confuses you even more. Why would Cell hold back his power when battling the two of you? Is he just getting used to this form, or did he have some other reason?

The monster stabs with his tail, nearly catching Trunks in the face. Trunks leans out of the way just in time, and with incredible reflexes, reaches out and grabs hold of the tail before it can retract. Cell opens his mouth, and a bright light bursts forth, but at that same moment, your son thrusts his free hand toward the monster's face, and their two attacks detonate as they collide.

Trunks and Cell are both pushed back, neither one looking particularly hurt, though Cell has quite the frown on his face.

Trunks is doing an amazing job, but you don't intend to just lie on the ground while he handles everything for you. Though it hurts, you stand back up, and begin to slowly make your way over to the warriors.

Trunks tries to strike with his left knee, twisting his body and aiming for Cell's stomach, but the monster manages to catch it, and answers with a punch to the face that knocks Trunks flat on his back.

Trunks rolls to avoid being impaled by the monster's tail, managing to get back to his feet, and charging at the beast once again. His fist meets Cell's, and the shockwaves nearly bring you to your knees.

Still, you press on, drawing closer as Cell is distracted by your son.

As the two warriors continue to clash, however, you notice your enemy's eyes shift in your direction, and a smirk appears on his face. He suddenly disengages Trunks and takes to the sky, firing off a beam of light from his fingertip that streaks right toward you.

Trunks turns to see what Cell's up to, eyes widening with horror as he sees the beam streak toward you.

"Dad!" he cries out as he begins to fly in your direction, only to be struck in the back by Cell, who sends him into the Earth with a kick.

You manage to backhand Cell's attack just before it would have caught you between the eyes, though you find tears welling in your eyes from the pain of it all.

Cell smirks toward you, reaching down and firing a barrage of energy attacks into the ground where Trunks disappeared. You see smoke billowing from the Earth, and Cell gives a satisfied glance in that direction before holding his hand out toward you.

An orange ball of crackling light appears in Cell's palm, and it takes you a moment to see that he's conjured up not energy, but flame. Bringing his arm back, he hurls the fireball your way.

The flaming projectile streaks toward you, but you're off the ground long before it has the chance to make contact. As you climb higher into the air, you observe Cell unleashing a barrage of small energy blasts from his palm, and you quickly twist your body to avoid the first few, then speed away to avoid the others.

This is a losing tactic. You need to find a way to strike Cell and hopefully bring him down to a condition similar to your own. While you race the swarm of stinging blasts on your tail, you begin to gather up some of the energy that you have left, channeling it down into your feet.

The blasts continue to gain on you, but you continue to wait as you gather up more energy for this attack. You need to make it count, or you're thoroughly screwed. Holding off until the last possible second, you visualize the air right above Cell.

"Kai-Kai," you say, vanishing just before the blasts can hit you.

Materializing just above Cell's head, you unleash all of your gathered energy. Your foe seems to have been expecting such a tactic, and thrusts his hands up to stop your attack, only to howl in frustration as your attack overwhelms him, pushing him down and sending him crashing through the same ground Trunks vanished into.

After that attack, it's a struggle to keep yourself airborne, but you manage. Looking into the sizable hole created by this battle, you see only darkness.

But, you can faintly detect two entities moving around down there.

You close your eyes and try to sense for the energy signature belonging to your son. It's faint, but it's down there, with Cell. Slowly, you descend into the darkness, finding yourself in some sort of cavern beneath the battlefield. The holes the fight has created provide a bit of light, and in the distance, you can see Trunks and Cell trading blows.

The way they're fighting is odd. They seem to be evenly matched, and neither one is flying, doing much dodging, or using any energy attacks. They seem to be fighting like normal humans would.

Their energy is barely detectable. That must be it. The two of them have essentially depleted their powers. Yes, that's what's happened. Trunks doesn't even have the aura of the Kuma-Ken around him anymore.

Clearly the heavy hitters in Tofooverse are the saiyans are usual, good ol Tofoo, Future Trunks, Piccolo, and Krillin and Konnatsu makes some serious effort for trying to get into the cool guys gang. You hunch over just a bit, but your endurance training has equipped your body to handle such an attack without too much trouble. Looking up, you see Cell's head pop back out, and a smirk on his face.

"Dad, look out!" Trunks warns.

Looking to your right, you see Cell's tail come around his body and stab for your face. You manage to step back just in time to avoid being hit, but the tail turns and prepares to give another go at it.

Before Cell can strike again, however, Trunks kicks the monster behind the knee, causing its leg to buckle. Trunks then kicks it in the back of the head, sending the monster falling toward you, and letting you land a kick to his face. As he's pushed back toward Trunks, he retracts his head again, avoiding another kick from your son.

Cell's tail sweeps Trunk's other leg, knocking him to the ground as the beast's head reappears, and Cell kicks toward your legs.

Trunk's foot comes slamming down onto his face, knocking Cell back to the ground. Your son attempts to stomp again, but Cell's head retracts, and he rolls out of the way, picking himself back up and smirking at your son.

Trunks takes a fighting stance, drawing a smirk from Cell.

"Careful, Trunks," he warns, his voice dripping with mirth. "Get too close, and you'll end up like dear dad."

Trunks scowls, remaining where he is.

Cell chuckles. "It wouldn't matter, anyway. Even if I couldn't use my Merry-Go-Round Gum, my body's much more durable than yours."

"Wanna bet?" Trunks asks, taking a single step forward.

Cell's body begins to tremble as he lets out an obnoxious laugh. "Stupid boy, I know just how much punishment you can take. I know quite a bit about you."

"Gero's data isn't as complete as he thought," Trunks insists. "I might just surprise you."

Cell chuckles. "Well, your strength is more than I bargained for. But, otherwise, you're the same Trunks I remember."

"Trunks, grab onto me!" you instruct your son. "I'm getting us out of here!"

Cell smirks as Trunks begin to run, raising his hand and seeming to teleport between the two of you. Before Trunks can react, the monster's tail stretches out and wraps around your son's neck. With a laugh, Cell raises Trunks into the air as the young warrior desperately struggles to free himself.

"You're not going anywhere, Trunks," Cell declares to your struggling son. "You're going to stay with me."

Cell's head turns one-hundred-eighty degrees, his eyes looking straight into yours as a devilish smile comes to his lips.

"This is wonderful," he remarks joyously. "My options are so much fun. Do I absorb Tofoo, and let Trunks give into despair as the last hope of his miserable life is destroyed in front of him? It would be fitting, considering that he said he wouldn't let his family or friends die again."

His body spins to join his head, and he moves his tail to hang Trunks in front of himself, placing your struggling son between the two of you.

"Or do I absorb Trunks?" he questions, still staring into your eyes. "I'm sure Gero would be pleased to see the look on your face when you watch your son die, Tofoo. It would also be fitting to have Trunks help me evolve again."

I should probably add that the Kaio-Ken only doubles your strength. You will still be nowhere near full power, and the toll on your body is likely to kill you, given your current condition. Also, as drained as you are, even accessing enough energy to use the Kaio-Ken will be incredibly difficult.

Trunks begins to thrash with renewed vigor, attempting to break free of Cell's hold. Unfortunately, this just prompts the monster to slam him face-first against the ground.

Looking toward your son, you focus as well as you can, and send him a telepathic message, hoping that you're able to send it, and he's able to receive it in your current states.

"Trunks, I'm going to charge Cell and make him loosen his grip," you inform your son. "As soon as you're free, grab onto me, and we'll get out of here."

You aren't sure if he heard that, but this is the only way you can think of that gives the two of you a chance to make it out of here alive.

You leap toward Cell, catching the monster by surprise as you slam against him, actually managing to successfully catch him off-balance, and causing his grip on your son to lessen.

At that moment, Trunks wriggles free, and the three of you fall toward the ground, only to be stopped at the last moment and find yourselves floating above it.

Well, except for Cell, he hits the ground.

Confused, you look around, only to find that two new fighters have entered the cavern.

Tenshinhan and Chaozu have come to the rescue.

"Set them down gently, Chaozu," Tenshinhan instructs.

The smaller man does as instructed, setting both you and your son down on your feet a reasonable distance away from Cell.

"Trunks, catch!" Tenshinhan shouts, hurling a Senzu Bean toward your son, who reached out to catch it.

Only, it's not Trunks that catches the bean. Cell materializes between him and Tenshinhan, catching the bean himself and stuffing it into his mouth. All at once, you feel his terrible power returning, greater than ever before.

"Dammit!" Tenshinhan growls.

Cell smirks toward the three-eyed man. "Thank you for that."

Tenshinhan takes a fighting stance, but Cell doesn't seem to much care. With a swing of his tail, Cell sends you and Trunks flying across the cavern, each of you slamming against the far wall.

A moment later, he appears in front of you, his tail lifting over his head and opening up. Before he can strike, however, a pair of energy beams strike him in the back. Hissing in pain, Cell looks over to see Tenshinhan and Chaozu strolling toward him, each preparing to attack again.

"I'll deal with you two in a minute," Cell promises, racing across the cavern toward Tenshinhan and Chaozu.

Chaozu covers his eyes, and Tenshinhan holds his hands in front of his face.

"SOLAR FLARE!" the three-eyed man shouts.

Cell cries out in pain as the blinding light robs him of his vision, with you and Trunks making similar sounds.

You're distracted from the blindness as you feel something being shoved into your mouth. Your energy returns to nearly its full strength, and your wounds mostly heal.

"I'm sorry," you hear Chaozu say. "We only brought two beans, so we had to split the last one in half."
