We say goodbye to Ren and her shadows, though the cute empress pouts a little at it... she really sees us as her break from work, it seems.

Ah, while we're at it, she does work pretty hard, you know? Either at the audience room or with her ministers and generals, it seems she does a lot of work on any given day, so I guess she can't be faulted for wanting a break every now and then.

She's a healthy teenage girl, after all. Yup, specially the healthy part. Both her and Mako sure grew up nively... *cough* anyway....

We go check on Yin, and rather pleasingly, find that she has everything under control and there's no urgent matters right now, though she does seem a bit nervous.

Well, we know her well enough to be able to tell she wants to say something, though. Her fluffy tails are curling up at the tip, its rather cute.

It looks kind of cute to see her ears twitch as we pet her fluffy tails.

Right, in this world, the ruler actually rules by divine decree. Ren even has an item called Blessing of Heaven, doesn't she? As long as the ruler is righteous and the gods support her, there's no such thing as floods, draughts or famine in the kingdom.

It sure is a convenient and easy way to tell if the people should revolt or not, you know? It famously doesn't protect against disease, invaders or monsters, though, but nothing's perfect.

I guess that is because all of those are living beings in a way or another, rather than meteoroñogical or tectonic events. Free will and all that.

Uhmm... this nation's policy for moving between regions is pretty strict. It's not as if you are forbidden to, as Yin demonstrates, having moved from the countryside to the capital, but you are expected to contribute with some excellent or unique skill to your new home.

In short, only the talented can enjoy the freedom to choose their residence, and that talent needs to be more noticeable as the place you wish to move to grows more important.

Yin is actually quite amazing. She is doing the job of about a dozen people by herself, you see...

Anyway, if you were to be married, you would be able to move in with your spouse, even though marriage itself is considered rather rare in the empire, which places little value on males as permanent companions.

Mai hands us a sealed scroll, and after thanking her, we head over to the vizir.

"I was waiting for you." - he says as he receives the scroll and checks that everything is in order, then hands us a chest

Is not that heavy, but its not light either. Well, any student can tell you, paper is pretty heavy. A stack of papers is basically a block of wood, after all.

The chest is large enough that we would need to carry it with both arms, so we store it away in Lyann's [Item Box], and thank the vizie for his time.

We go back to Mako's room and ask Lyann to give us back the chest.

Placing it on a low table, we open it and start spreading the documents on it over the desk, a few at a time.

As we expected, they dismantled and studied rockitship technology from a downed eopolitan ship during the war, but seem to have gone a very different direction with it.

Instead of adapting ships to the skies, they made movile fortresses. Beginning with small mobile bunkers and single floor buildings. All in all, this could be seen as a movile base or minor fortress.

Troops can ride comfortable by just remaining inside their own barracks, which would move to a new place before 'landing' together with the rest of their whole base. It would be the exact same base they had trained in for nost of their careers, with every nook and cranny familiar to them, except that it would have moved to a new spot.

Well, sure, I think the romans did something like that as well... honestly I think it has more future in civilian projects. Can move a work site along the road its workers are building as it is built.

Build a couple of miles, move the base to the new end of the road, then repeat as often as needed.

Military-wise... they have a 'imperial super dreadnought' ship... and I use the word ship very loosely here, ready to go. Its like a medium sized town built into a fortress, or maybe I should call it a super fortress?

It has docks enough for many cruisers and hundreds of light crafts, as well as dozens of batallions, tons of supplies, and even its own factory and workshop to repair or build new ships as needed.

The scale of it seems almost like a joke. It looks like they have just the one, though, but it is 'operational within low parameters' already, and its expected to be 'fully operaional' by the end of the year.

This thing is huge... don't tell me it turns into a mech, please. It even has a small park next to what would be the royal quarters... doesn't that makes it a garden, then?

Looks like it already could be used to transport thousands of troops comfortably and quickly across the continent, but its ofensive capabilities are not yet operational. Well, I'm inclined to say that the troops themselves would do just fine, though. Sort of how an airship carrier has no cannons, because its the job of the fleet and the airships it carries to keep it safe, after all.

What do we do with this?

She lowers her cargo carefully on top of a nearby table, and imitates Lyann, though on our left.

Really, are you two seriously comfortable like that? Its really nice to have such a pretty girl at either side of us but it looks quite hard to keep such a posture, you know?

Besudes, don't want the bedroom to smell like food, while this room is quite spacious, is more like a garden surrounded by small rooms, and has both a open roof that lets us enjoy the stars, and a fountain at the middle, keeping the temperature steady in the scorching weather.

The harpies come home soon enough, really cheering up the place as they happily tell us about their work while goin om nom nom on the snacks and drinks.

Ah, they're more like excited teens than bubbling kids now, uh? Rosa and Tina are more lady-like, as well. Somehow they're more mature than the others.

Aurora and Kiriany are having a interesting time talking to Sykia. It looks like their customs and language were quite different. As spacious as the garden at the center of the harem is, it is still not quite large enough for Squidward to pop in... unless we are okay with most of his body popping out through the open roof and into the night sky, but the sight of such a large monster in one of the rooms immediately adjacent to the empress' room would certainly cause quite the panic in the city.

Krabby is more than fine in the wide fountain, though he also comes out and interacts with the other pets without any issues. He's as intelligent as a human, though unable to speak.

Maybe we should look into some sort of artifact for such a thing? Anyway, right now, it (he?) seems to be having fun as one of the harpies has installed a large pillow on its back and is using it as a sort of palanquin to go around the room.

Eh, I guess it counts as playing horsie? Since he's literally a tank, he's used to defending them in the dungeons, so may have grown naturally protective of them. Either way, he seems fine with it, so I guess their "uncle krabby" is fine as is?

As the shadow informs us of Mako's approach, we head over to the main room's door and welcome her when she comes in.

We take everyone out of the harem room and head out to dine at the empress private dining room.

The decoration and furniture are about as high quality as you'd expect, so its actually a bit of a cause for worry to have the harpies casually play around in their chairs...

...actually, mom has taught them proper table manners, though, so when the food actually arrives they suddenly shift gears and start behaving like proper young ladies.

There was no need to teach 'pets' to behave at the table though? Mom probably did it because she knew we were likely to take them out to dinner or such...

Well, Tanis was probably the hardest to teach for different reasons, though.

"Master, juice." - says Atroma as she helpfully pours us a drink

Yup, the girl's light dresses seems to work just fine on this hotter climate. The meal goes by without any issue, and afterwards, we need to send the harpies back to our [Menagerie] so their sleepy selves are easier to carry back to the room.

Uhmm... we wanted to go inspect the ship right away, but its shortly after sunset right now...

With everyone having had a nice meal, we head back to our room and make a small detour to let the already sleeping harpies out on their beds before -really- getting ready for bed.

We head to the bath and enjoy washing our lovely empress before bed, making sure she's squeaky clean after we're done, and carry her to bed like that-

Talking for a bit, she explains us that she already has her morning full, but we can go inspect the ship in the early evening.

It looks like we will need to head out right after lunch, though, as it is not being built on the city itself, but at a military base, to noone's surprise.

So, this is this world's version of Area 51? Either way, it will take a few hours by land... we could, however....

Mako heads to work early in the morning. She has to meet with several ministers, and we head to Opal city to arrange transportation for the dwarven craftsmen that will help build the fuirnace room for the succubuss glass works.

Well, arranging for their living space is the easy part. It turns out they aren't too fond of the local materials, so we need to find a better source of sand for the glassworks...

Well, we have two choices. We can build the dungeon and 'reroll it' until we get the monsters we need for the right drops, or we can arrange for a source of sand from the not-too-far shore.

Its a few hours away by land, but the succubus would probably take far less to go there since they have wings.

They would need to ferry the sand constantly from the beach, though, and it is a finite reseource...

Well, for now let's get the furnace built, and by the time it is done we will have the dungeon ready.
