General Rules

15 min voting period after each main post. Write-ins votes are welcomed/encouraged. Votes that are non-contradictory and add to the narrative will be considered. Think 'Rule of Cool'

Combat mechanics/skill test will be done using best 3 out of 3 rolls of 1d100, unless otherwise specified. Modifiers may come into play depending on the MC's statistics which can improve odds and vice versa as the QM sees fit. The QM will do their best to inform players of when such modifiers will come up during votes. (Example: Aim at a target at long range with a scattershot weapon will require a higher roll to make a successful hit than a normal blaster weapon).

Training with other bots and successful missions can add to your overall abilities. Strong character relationships with your comrades can also benefit the MC as it will improve battle synergy and moral (less likely to want to fall back/retreat). Of course the vice versa can come into play as well. A failed mission may have consequences but result in unforeseen outcomes (In the show, Tarantulus, Blackarachnia, & Quickstrike were supposed to secure an energon post. The Maximals interfered, resulting in the loss of the post BUT Tarantulus gained a new lair.). A Predacon can always sabotage missions to make other bots look incompetent as well, just hope you’re persuasive enough to do so and watch out for those

Also keep an eye out at your energon build up levels; too much time in robot mode outside of a structure, such as a base can cause negative impacts on your combat maneuvers/skill test, including potential loss of spark. In the event of loss of spark, pending the results of a vote, a time lapse in the narrative will happen and a new stasis pod will fall. (Roll for new character or with a high relation level, a blank protoform will descend and your allies will reignite your spark)

Last time on Beast Wars Quest
You had interesting encounter with Blackarachnia with whom you have made an alliance with. Additionally, you found that it’s been too long since you’ve played with the Preds and sought out a fight that you came out on top. With the knowledge of a new stasis pod coming, you have a bit of time to decide how you wish to proceed.
>>
>>1863416
Oh cool caught a fresh one.

So what did we decide to grab from tweedle dumb and the flaming idiot?
>>
The morning light shines through the forest canopy and shine through the small gaps of your outpost. You’re still recovering from your late night encounter with Scorponok and Inferno. Worth it all things considered. Can’t let the Preds forget you’re out there and they were kind enough to you let you have some of their stuff.

You snagged two of Scorponok’s cyberbees. You’re not quite sure how to use them precisely but you can always give it the old ‘trial and error’ effort. This is why you snagged a spare. Not like he’ll be using them anytime soon. Maybe Blackarachnia or the Maximals could offer some assistance on how to best use them?

Your second acquisition was Inferno’s cannon. It’s got some weight to it, you’re surprised the bug can dual wield these giving his tiny arms. While its flamethrower function is less than ideal considering your terrain of choice, you’re certain you can give this toy a good work out.

After a good stretch in the mid-morning sun, you have some options on how to spend your time. You’re still roughed up from last night, so might not hurt to visit the Axalon again for their CR Chamber. Might even get a chance to talk to Optimus about what the Maximals are planning for the stasis pod mission.

You could always stick around here; the woods wont patrol themselves but you are still not exactly 100%. If you run into any Predacons, who are sure to have heard about last night’s encounter, they might come looking for some retribution.

>Head to the Maximal base, the repairs are needed

You decide if you’re gonna do anything right now, repairs are definitely in order. Before you leave you decide it wouldn’t hurt to bring one of your new cyber bees with you. With Rhinox there, certainly he could give you a hand with these.

The trip is fairly standard; you don’t notice anything particularly out of the ordinary on the way there. Normally bit of a bore to travel, but you’ve had enough excitement last night.

As you get closer, you hear the sound of a bird’s cry. Airazor flies above and circles back around towards you.

“Well this is a surprise.” She descends down for a landing next to you as you stop briefly. “It’s good to see you again Warpath. Heard you had stopped by yesterday. I didn’t think you’d be back so soon.”

You gesture to the cyber bee you have with you. “Yeah, well. Had a play date with some Predacons, got a bit rough so I came in for repairs.”

“Didn’t you just get patched up yesterday as well?” She shakes her head for a moment. “Wait Predacons? I don’t recall Optimus mentioning that you found Blackarachnia. Did you find her?”
You give her a confused look before it dawns on you. Optimus did call Airazor and Tigatron after she had escaped. “No, this was after I called about the lair I found.”

“Oh, surprised you kept searching.”

“Well no one was home so I thought I’d be neighborly and ask Pred central.”

She just shakes her head. “You’ve got bearings of steel.” Judging by her tone you can’t help but think she’s hiding a smile. “By the way, Optimus told me about the pod. If you’re not busy with stalking Predacons, maybe we can work together on this mission.”

You shrug. “Maybe, the ape might have other plans instore for me. But we’ll see.” Not that you’re about to do Primal’s bidding, but he might have a strategy in place. That said, so might Blackarachnia, if you let her know whats going on. She had dropped hints about it but even she didn’t have the time and location.

“Well give me a shout if you need. I know the region but two sets of eyes are better than one.” She starts to flap her wings. “Catch you next time. Gotta get back on patrol.”

You think a moment about what Airazor proposed. Looks like she’s gonna be on pod duty again. She knows the region, but this might complicate things with Blackarachnia and you for that matter. You’ve been thinking about your own group but you don’t want Airazor and the Maximals feel like you’re competing with them.

>Working with Airazor wouldn’t be bad. Improves the chances of adding another Maximal to the ranks
>Airazor is trusting, but I might need to throw her off to further my own objectives
>Maybe Airazor would be open to working with you, off the record

It's a Maximal protoform its naturally gonna lean towards them and do you really think Primal would reprogram it?

Warpath would have to get there first. The majority of these stasis pods are Maximal having been on board the Axalon. Of course there's always a chance that something goes wrong and they suffer memory damage, etc

>I’ll wait till I talk to Optimus and get the full picture; then make my plans

It’s better to have the full picture and a plan accordingly. Besides Primal mentioned running interference, which you pretty much did last night.

“Warpath to Maximal base, coming in.”

“This is Dinobot, Sentiel going down. Standby.”

You sit back and watch as the shield and the platform drop down. It’s starting to be a familiar sight for you as you get on and rise into the Axalon.

“Ah Warpath. Good to see you again.” Rhinox is standing next to the central terminal. “I hope that new Halberd blade is working well?”

You crack a smile. “Its doing alright. But I could use another visit to the CR Chamber.”

“Again?” Rhinox is taken aback as Dinobot approaches. “What in the matrix happened out there?”

“Knocked on the Predacon’s door for a cup of sugar.” You transform and head towards CR Chamber with a shrug. “Guess they were all out.”

Dinobot chuckles with a tooth filled grin. “Glad to see someone has the initiative to launch such an assault, though you shouldn’t be so careless.”

“You’re not wrong. But I got a new toy out of it, don’t suppose you wanna have a look at it?” You take out the cyber bee and place it on the table.

Rhinox gets up and reaches for it. “Hmmm, I suppose I could. Wouldn’t be the first time but it might be something that’ll come in handy.”

“Trouble with the neighbors?” Optimus enters the room with his arms crossed.

“I’ll tell you about it once I’m patched up.”

“This kind of behavior is gonna get you killed, Warpath.” Optimus scowls. “Meet me in my office once you’re patched up.”

Dinobot and Rhinox just look at each other before resuming work. Dinobot gives you a nod of approval before the black door comes down and you’re in the dark again.

>Try and focus on old memories of cybertron

You’ve found being in the CR Chamber has offered your insight to your beast mode’s memories…but what about your old memories?

Thinking back to Cybertron, what you can remember you focus on those blocks in your programming. You feel this resistance from within, like your systems attempting to reconstruct an old damaged file.

You hear an explosion. Is the Axalon under attack? Well this is prime, you’re stuck in the middle of this chamber and…

“Get up you slaggin’ bot. You ain’t scrap yet!” You see metallic hand grabbing and pulling you up. You look around and see cold steel everywhere and a fire. Your head is ringing and vision is distorted.

“Is *inaudiable* hurt? Let me patch him up.” A feminine voice calls out.

“Hold your gears. You wanna get scrapped as well?!” a grizzled voice responds as another projectile flies by followed by an explosion.

Another female voice pops into your ear. It throws you off since you cant see where its coming from. “Catchin a nap, you silly boys need to toughen up. Let me and *inaudible* handle this.”

“Cool you’re gears. I’m fine.” Your own voice slightly drowned out by the ringing. Your eyes slowly attempt to focus on the bot closest. He puts your halberd’s shaft against your test.

“Weapons work best when they’re in your hands, kid.” He turns away as he raises his blaster. “Come on Maximals. Ain’t no discharge on the ground.”

You grip your Halberd and turn back towards the battlefield only to notice you’re no longer there.

"H-huh? Where am I? Why am I skiing down a mountain side?"

Rattrap skis up beside Warpath, wearing a very tight ski suit. "Well hey there chrome dome, these fancy smancy suits make it feels like ya' wearin' nothin' at all."

"Nothin' at all."

"Nothin' at all."

"Grrr, stupid sexy Rattrap."

You hear a hiss of the CR Chamber’s door open up and the light cues. What the ever loving inferno was that?! Ugh, maybe late night raids against the Predacons are not such a good idea anymore. And I’m definitely not telling Tigatron about this vision. Or anyone. Ever.

You see the Maximals working where they were before.

“Oh Warpath, glad to see you’re out.” Rhinox gestures to the bee you brought in. “We’ll talk once you’ve seen Optimus.”

You’re not sure on how to feel about that, particularly judging by his tone. You figure what the hell; get this meeting with the boss monkey out of the way now.

The door to Optimus’ quarters opens up and you walk inside. “So whats the situation Prime?”

“Ah, Warpath. I’ve been thinking over about the intel your retrieved from the Predacons. Well done, but we need to discuss you’re procedures.”

Oh great.

“We lost contact with you and honestly I began to assume the worse. I’m grateful for your efforts in helping us, this lone soldier stuff needs to stop. You can’t keep fighting like this, it’s going to get you killed!”

“Listen Prime, you can’t always plan for every situation. Sometimes you got to improvise. If I hadn’t done what I did, there’s no telling if or when we would have recovered that data.”

“While getting that data was invaluable, you’re way of doing things is careless.”

“You’re the one who told me to run interference. Now you have two less preds to worry about for a while.”

Optimus crosses his arms. “All well and good, but if the Predacons have this intelligence as well, they’ll going to get desperate and go all in. The only thing we can count on which ever spider was working on this, keeps it to themselves. And for the record, I wanted you to run that interference when the pod fell, slowing down their advance group long enough for us to reach it first. Now instead of one or two Predacons, you’ll have to fight Megatron and his remaining force.”

“I’m not too concerned. I can handle them.”

“Not alone you won’t.”

“Look Optimus, I respect you but you’re still not my leader. Until you beat me in a fight I do as I please. Stop trying to give me orders.”

The room is silent for a minute with the two of you staring down each other. The frustration in the Maximal leader is obvious but you do your best to assert your position. You fought to be free and that’s the way you like it.

He finally breaks the silence when he lets out a sigh. “Which ones did you take out?”

“Scorps and the ant.”

Optimus is quiet. “Well…atleast that’s one less flier to worry about. But I’m still concerned that Megatron will oversee this one personally with both of his commanding officers taken down.”

You can see his anger seemingly subsiding.

>So how does this change your plan?
>I said I could handle the Preds, I’ll do it. Just get to that damn pod

With how I've been harrassing his troops, Megatron might be more interested in chasing me then going for the pod.

Man, I understand Primal sees us as one of his, and I do appreciate his worrying. But he can get pretty goddamn smothering at time.
At least we're not in the Comic Universe where he was so stuck in his rut, his allies had to murder him before starting a revolution.

>So how does this change your plan?

“Well Airazor was going to be on solo reconnaissance of the area. Have her locate the pod and radio in a land party that’ll head out and redirect as the situation changes. I was planning on having you, Tigatron and one other run skirmishes to slow down the Predacons.”

Hit and run, while the main focus is the pod? Not a bad plan.

“With the way I’ve been harassing his troops, Megatron might be more interested in chasing me then going for the pod.”

He side nods. “Possibly or he may use it as excuse to launch a preemptive strike against you.”

That thought felt like a sock in the gut. On one hand, you’re pretty sure the minus a certain well-endowed bot, the Predacons don’t know where you’re at. But would that stop them from looking? You don’t want to have to be constantly looking over your shoulder.

“We’ll if I run into three or more Preds I promise I won’t engage them by myself okay?”

“That’s good to hear, but I’d rather you not have to risk those kinds of odds.” He takes a few moments to consider.

“Alright, here’s what I’m thinking. We proceed as we were going to, but you and one other Maximal will work as a squad against the Predacons. Focus on harassing them more so than dragged out engagement. We cant afford having you get into trouble and overrun. I’ll lead the maximal land party with two others.” He looks up to you.

“If you’re ok with that, then I suggest we decide who’s going with you.”

Optimus nods. “I had a feeling you’d say that. Very well. I’ll take Rhinox and Cheetor with me then. Tigatron will be out there as well acting as rear guard if you guys find yourself in trouble. But like I said, avoid full on conflict.”

“Right.”

“Alright then. Dismissed Warpath. Good hunting.”

With that you leave Primal’s office. You head back to where Rhinox was sitting. Seems he might have come up with something about the cyber bee.

“So rhino, what do you got for me?”
The large green and brown bot turn around. “Ah, Warpath. Hope things went well. As for your bee allow me to run over a few things about it.”

Rhinox takes some time to explain the cyber bees, most of the basics you’ve figured out.

“But I’ve got the feeling a reconnaissance drone isn’t quite your style.”

“Weaponized?”

Rhinox turns back to you. “In a manner of speaking. See these things don’t have a large power source to house a full on weapon suite. Too much energy dependency. But it could be used to temporarily shock and stun an enemy bot. Another option would be deployment of zero friction fluid which would coat a surface area making it slippery preventing easy advancement of Predacons. Lastly would be a cryofuse ‘sting’ as it were. Again it would be energy dependant but using similar tech as Tigatron you can freeze an unsuspecting bot for a limited amount of time. Think crowd control.”

Not bad Rhinox. Not exactly lethal means but it’s a step up.

“What about an explosive?”

Rhinox rubs his chin. “Do able, but obviously it would be a one time use, or you can have it drop explosives on an enemy but with little accuracy to a moving bot. Maybe to fortifications, but these bees aren’t the fastest or most nimble. ”

“Before you ask, I can only implement one of these to the drone.”

>Stun sting; set up bots , move in and knock down
>Zero friction fluid; crowd control if necessary

“Cryofuse sounds cool to me.”

Rhinox just looks at you. You hear Rattrap in the back ground “Hehah!”

“Alright then. It’ll be ready in a few days, in time for the stasis pod mission.”

“Hand it off to Dinobot, I’ll be working with him on this.”

“Very well. Take care of yourself out there.”

We’ll that’ll settle things for now.

As you turn, your ER comlink flickers.

“Hmm whats that?” Rhinox looks up from his console.

You look at it. It’s on the secure channel you used to communicate with Blackarachnia. Looks like she’s repaired and awake.

You need to do something. You don’t have it on speaker mode so theirs little risk of her voice suddenly being heard but if you don’t say or do something soon, they might get suspicious and try tracing the signal.

“Oh its nothing. Just a notification I receive from my hot marks when they activate. I should go check up on them.”

Rhinox gives you a look, “That’s odd, seeing as it’s on a communication frequency. Is everything alright Warpath?”

Oh hell. Not good. Rhinox isn’t nearly as gullible as the kid, but you definitely get the idea he’s not completely counting you out. You need to think of something otherwise

Otherwise you really need to clarify and rewrite the dice rules in the opening post. I've been working off what's came up in thread, which seems to be d100, best of 5, nat 1 Crit Fails, nat 100 Crit Succeeds.
If modified rolls are being taken as crits both ways, then that really needs to be specified as well.

The opening post just says d100 best of 3.

Rhinox just looks stunned for a moment. He blinks at your response but his face hardens.

“Fine, I get it.” He gets up from his seat and gives you an angry look. “You want to do things your way then you had better make sure they don’t put the lives of my friends and crew at risk.” He picks up the Cyber bee and hands it back to you. “I don’t quite feel like working on this now.” He turns away and walks over to the crew quarters.

“Nothing. Just complications.”

Rattrap gives you a shifty look. “Well if that’s the case, you sticking around or heading off?”

You go down the ramp and head off back to the woods. This had better be good, especially since it cost you your freezebee. Maybe she’s got the know how to replace it or how to make it better. Blackarachnia is supposed to be a skilled tech as well.

>Examine the array. See if it’s been tampered with

“Warpath, transform.” You approach the sensor array and begin looking it over. Nothing unusual so far, but you keep looking past the basic files and settings. It doesn’t take you long to find a new algorithm has been added. Judging from what you can tell, it’s designed to have the sensor ignore an energy signature. A Predacon energy signature to be exact, but only one. It looks like the spider wants to ensure that if anyone but you is using this terminal, they won’t detect her in the forest.

"Computer, scan forest perimeter."

SCANNING....NO ENERGY SIGNATURES DECTECTED.

Well atleast you know if shes close, her program worked. Still if you found it, what would happen if someone else knew to look for it?

You’re not fond of the idea that she’s tampering with your equipment. At the very least she could’ve said something or asked. Maybe that’s what she was signaling about?

>Check the camp for any other traces of tampering

You start checking the rest of the camp, let’s see what else she’s been playing around with. First things first, you check the sensory array to see if your hot mark traps are still operational. The four remaining are giving their signals and in the place you left them. Well that’s a relief.

Next up you check on your remaining gear. Good thing you don’t store up too much here that said you take notice when things are out of place and it definitely looks like certain someone was touching your toys.

You look over where your spare ammo for the collapsible sniper rifle was at. You notice two of the casings have been tampered with. Wait, no they’ve been modified. Examining them closely you see that they have a similar energy about them as that weapon Tarantulas used on Airazor the first time you fought him. These are makeshift Cyber venom rounds. Nasty.

The next closest item you have is Inferno’s gun. While you normally keep it covered up, it’s been left sitting out. Clumsy of the spider. If anyone were to come in these woods, it would give away your position pretty easily. You start looking it over.

“The energy usage of the flame thrower has been altered. It’ll be less taxing on you when you want to play with it.” You hear a voice to your left.

Blackarachnia is standing by the entrance of your den, leaning against it with your other cyber bee in hand. “You’ve been a busy, naughty bot.”

>”You wanna tell me what you’re doing here?”

“ME? You almost got me caught when you called me when I was with the Maximals.”

“So that’s where you were? Hmm I should’ve have figured considering what you were doing last night.” She walks over to you, nonchalant. “Maybe you should be more careful about leaving your comlink on or when charging into Predacon ground.”

“So you know about that?”

Blackarachnia shakes her head and pushes the cyber bee in your hands. “Are you joking? I’ve had to listen to big and purple bellowing about it since I’ve gotten out of the CR tanks. Between last night and Tarantulas lair, the Darksyde is on high alert.”

“You saying it wouldn’t be? We trashed Tarantulas base.”

She snickers, “No you did that. I was busy making my escape from the big bad kitty cat.” She looks around the woods. “That said I still got the third degree from him. Asking how you could have found his hideout? The usual paranoia. He even went so far as to ask for my assistance in catching you so he can end you.”

“You think he suspects.”

She rubs her chin. “Probably, but whatever theories he has about my part has been pushed aside for his anger towards you. In fact, he’s convinced that your invasion of our territory last night was strictly to find him. So good job there.” She winks.

“Let’s get back to you being here. I don’t like you messing with my gear without my permission.”

She pouts with her arms behind her back. “Oh you don’t like my little presents? And here I thought I was being nice by helping you slag my ‘pals’. “

“I didn’t say I didn’t like them. In fact I’m grateful, but I somehow doubt they come cheap.”

“Smart kitty. You learn so quickly.”

“I’m referring to you touching the sensor array.”

“That’s just a precautionary measure. Can’t have any of your Maximal friends finding me here on accident, when they visit.”

“Then that’s not your price.”

“Oh no, I’m sure we can negotiate that face to face. It’s why I was waiting for you inside your little play house.”

“Snipers den.”

“Do you want to hear my terms or not?”

“You already mentioned the pod.”

“Well the pod is something we are already working on. I had something else in mind.” Her stance shifts. “That said we need to discuss that as well. Come up with our plan.”

>Alright what do you have in mind? Hear her out like you did Optimus
>Tell her about the info you learned from Tarantulas

>Tell her about the info you learned from Tarantulas
>Alright what do you have in mind? Hear her out like you did Optimus

You figure now is the best time to tell her what you saw back in Tarantulas’ lair. Lay the cards on the table and see how she reacts. See if the chips fall in your favor.

“Well then you should know something first.”

Blackarachnia looks at you curiously.

“Before I smashed Tarantulas’ computers, I saw he has some information about the stasis pod and its landing coordinates. 8 days from now in Grid Delta.”

She expressions run the gamut of shocked, surprised, furious, and then amused.

“A-are you certain about this? Impressive…but wait a minute. Tarantulas told Megatron it would be even longer than that. Almost twelve away…sneaky spider was trying to get the pod for himself unopposed. Well that’s not going to happen now that we know and this goes in line with what I’ve had in mind.”

“Then I take it you have your own strategy?”

“Indeed, though this does move up our time table to prepare.” She snatches the cyber bee from your hands. “And we can use this as well if we need.”

“Hey! What did I just…”

“Ugh, just calm down I’ll give it back when I’m done.”

Did you just get through telling her to not mess with your stuff?

“So, my plan is simple. Gird Delta is a jungle area so there are plenty of places to use stealth by land. I can set out early and be in the region long before anyone else knows. By the time, the either side has picked up on their scanners; I’ll already be there to find our new recruit.” She stops for a moment as if she’s already found a flaw in her plan.

“Though with last night’s attack, Megatron wants most of his troops to stay close by incase you and the Maximals stage another assault. With a bit of time, I could jury rig this cyber bee to be our advanced scout. Sending it in virtually undetected by Maximal or Predacon and with one of us behind the controls we can use to get the protoform online first.”

An interesting idea. You didn’t know these drones could be used this way, but of course she said it would require some tinkering and that’s if she has the time and means if Megatron is looking over her shoulder.

“Oh, before I forget my price. How wonderful it fits in with this plan of ours.”

You knew this was coming. “And how does it fit?”

“If something were to happen to poor Tarantulas before the pod’s arrival, well I don’t know what poor Megatron will ever do. With Scorponok and Inferno out of the loop, vying for his attention, he’ll just have to put his trust in me after you and I secure the pod.”

“So you want me to destroy Tarantulas?” that’s not a price, sounds more like a reward.

“Destroy, incapacitate, whatever my kitty wants.”

Hmm, you don’t like the idea of the protoform getting reprogrammed, but knowing Blackarachnia, it’ll be loyal to her, which you presume would include you, right? Still you’d rather give it a choice to decide its future. Maybe you should be the one heading out into the jungle instead.

“Now then, since we have the edge against the Predacons we can circumvent their efforts. Which leaves the Maximals.”

>How about I get the pod instead?

“How about I get the stasis pod instead?”

Blackarachnia gives you a raised eyebrow. “You? Not that I don’t think you could do it, but I have to ask why?”

“You already said, Megatron is keeping his people on a tight leash. I’m freelance and can go where I please.”

“Do you even know how to reprogram a stasis pod?”

“I was planning on offering it a choice.”

Blackarachnia looks like stunned. “You’re joking. It’s a Maximal. It’ll choose their side, once it’s awake.”

“I wasn’t reprogrammed and I’m no Maximal.”

“And what if you reach it first, try chatting it up and it still says no?”
You shrug. “That’s its choice then. Loyalty earned is better than loyalty programmed.”

“How so? Atleast programmed it’s a sure thing.” She paces back and forth, throwing her arms in the air. “This is crazy. So many things can go wrong.” She stomps her foot. “Fine, if you’re so confident, then you can go after it, but if Megatron sends me out, I’m taking my opportunity.”

It’s not an unreasonable stance. She has to keep up appearances. For that matter, with your deal with the Maximals, so do you.

Blackarachnia reaches behind her and pulls out a small thin container. ”Here, take these just in case your logic circuits reboot before the pod drops. I can always make more if we need. I know I’ll have some on hand.”

You take the container as she transforms back into beast mode. “I’ll see you around. Don’t screw this up, don’t get yourself fragged and don’t forget your part of the deal.” She scuttles off as you open the container.

Predacon reprogramming chips, three of them each with red hourglass insignias on them. There are even a few small collapsed tools inside. You doubt you’ll need these for what you have planned, but Blackarachnia is clearly hedging her bets.

But there’s another issue. The Maximal’s plan requires you and Dinobot to work together to slow down the Predacons when they sent out for Grid Delta. You can’t be in two places at once. And if you change your plans suddenly, you might run into a problem with Rhinox who suspects something.

You’ve got to make your next few moves carefully. Otherwise, things are going to get troublesome.
>>
And that'll do it for me tonight.

Thanks to everyone who showed up.

I'll hope to have those pastebins posted soon to help with any future confusion.

I may try to run again tomorrow, though it wont be till much later if i do. I will try for a semi-early session Fri.

A quick question to everyone regarding the next session: do you guys want to play out the next few days before the pod drops or skip ahead to the big day? There is the Tarantulas business but you can always postpone hunting him. (2 hunters are better than one)

I'll be around briefly but until next time on BEAST WARS QUEST *lion roar sfx*
>>
>>1865421

Crush those Predacon reprogramming chips in our metal fist after she's gone. Best result, we don't use them. Worst result(s), either we use them and create a new Predacon to trash or Rhinox finds them and we're discredited in Maximal eyes.

you could always tamper with her chips, put programming of your own upon them. will require a few checks tho.

>>1865435
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to keep it interesting and entertaining for folks. this thread had some interesting twist that even i didn't for see.

>>
>>1865445

Can we only use them on Protoforms? If we could put our own programming on them then stuff them into the heads of Inferno/Scorpanok next time we trash them, that might be useful. But if they're protoform only, I don't see a use for them in our plans and our ethos.
>>
>>1865452
The chips are only good on protoforms. To reprogram bots that are currently active you would need a different device that the Predacons once used. Someone like Blackarachnia would definitely have the know how to rebuild it and program it for what you're talking about. Persuading her would be another matter but from the roll today and depending on your results with obtaining the pod and getting the protoform on your side, will determine how she starts to see things

Basically I gave anons something and due to a bad roll, I had to take it away. I had brainstormed different ways the Maximals (and Blackarachnia) would weaponize them while being practical and freeze bees would make for an interesting concept. And a nasty surprise for enemies.
>>
>>1866253
it feels to me people trying to do that retarded "Play both sides" thing when we aren't anywhere near built for that.
We value our independance and freedom and like to fight, and find Primal's mothering annoying. But in the end, the Maximals have happily helped us, repaired us, and put up with our quirks. They have been good allies and don't deserve all the underhanded backstabbing that people keep trying to do towards them.

It's half the reason I suggested we just straight up tell Rhinox we're courting Black Arachnia or at least let Primal know.
We should be tilting things toward them, because the Predacons are all a bunch of backstabbing douchbags and from what we've learned from Black Arachnia and others, they wouldn't like our ideals of Independance and Freedom.

We're akin to early G1 Grimlock.
>>
>>1866018
Well, if we're trying to go rogue.
With everything else that has happened, it's good to have her on hand. Either to secure a few more Predacons to our side, or to keep tabs on her and the Predacons by extension.
She has a lot of potential as an investment.
Plus it's nice to have friends that aren't all on the gorilla or t-rex's dick.

We're not trying to go Rogue. I don't know where people are getting this idea from.

We should have no reason or desire to piss off both sides in a war. Especially when one of the sides welcomed us with open arms.
>>
>>1866308
Except in character we've shown very little desire to be there.
We're certainly aligned to a certain extent, given our valuing freedom of choice but that's as far as I'd be willing to push it.
>>
>>1866437
We don't want to be stuck in the ship and want to be out free to do our own thing sure.
But that doesn't mean we're planning on going rogue, or backstabbing and pissing off all the Maximals.

For one we really have no reason to, especially since Primal for all his mothering, seems to understand that and we get along with alot of the Maximals. Hell, before you idiots blew it, we got along with Rhinox too, to the point he'd give us free stuff.
For two, when you idiots do go rogue, where are you going to get the materials, CR chambers and shit to keep a stable faction? Especially when both sides want nothing to do with us, have defenses against intruders and know our alt mode and energy signature?

We are allied with the maximals, we are working with the maximals. Backstabbing them, especially with as poorly as Warpath does it, only loses us resources and materials.
We should be working on being a valuable ally, to them, if abit mercenary and tilting things in their favor.
>>
>>1866476
I suppose not supporting the Rhinox thing matters.
Personally, if we did go rogue, it's my intention to get as many of us, Predacons included out of this in one piece as possible.
Barring Megatron of course.
Waspinator, Inferno and Terrorsaur seem cool enough though.
>>
>>1866506
Sadly, Inferno if I remember right is literally insane and only thinks about his Queen and Rampage makes Inferno look stable.
It also probably won't work with Tarantulus or Scorpinox.
Also, that probably would have been useful before we starting literally taking apart Predicons.

But, Primal would probably understand that reasoning. We don't have to backstab the Maximals to try and do that.
>>
>>1866476
Can you call recruting the prtotform for black arachnia anything other then backstabing them?
>>
>>1866597
Honestly, I'd rather that protoform go to the Maximals then Black Arachnia, seeing as she'll use programming chips to rewrite it, which goes against our character's outlook.
I have no idea why people want to just blindly nod along and do everything Black Arachnia's way.
>>
>>1866506
Me here, out and wandering about.
>>1866597
I would call recruiting a protoform to an ally's side a general boon.
More important in this instance is that it would work to undermine Megatron.
It's entirely possible the thing could just pull a Dinobot either way.
I'm not real sure what to do here but as long as it goes to Blackarachnia, the Maximals or is given a choice in where to go I'll call it a win of sorts.

As far as not wrecking the Predacons up before making an offer of truce to anyone but the T-Rex goes.
That was my intention, but what can you do when the votes don't go your way?
Given that they're Predacons a healthy dose of fear might go a decent way towards insuring their agreement.

I was honestly hoping to go sort of warrior-poet-ish and try to avoid conflict or flip enemies into allies.
And leave the extreme prejudice stuff clearly on the table but not preferable.
>>
>>1866710
we aren't recruiting it for an ally we are poaching it from an ally to someone that shares a common enemy
>>
>>1866710
wait you want WARPATH to be nonaggressive?
>>
>>1866776
I want the aggressive stuff to be obviously
on the table. And that was more my initial intention.
Then again if I had my way we'd be an excitable toucan scientist that had to be restrained from trying to solve everything with SCIENCE!©

>>
>>1866861

>>
>>1866884
Technically that's Rhinox's job but he's super low key about it.

You can't science that!
>...I see.
>I'LL JUST HAVE TO SCIENCE A SOLUTION TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SCIENCE IT SO I CAN!
Really if we could just be "obviously dangerously unhinged" while breaking laws of physics and common sense for the good of all cybertronians I would have been really excited.

You told Primal that you and Dinobot will harass the Predacons, slowing them down.

You told Blackarachnia that you will go after the pod and sway it to your side. Without the need of using reprogramming chips.
>>
>>1867382
That's the ideal scenario.
And what we agreed on in character.
If keeping it from the Predacons fails, I want to ensure Megatron doesn't get another loyal toady is all.
Ideally by choice.
Wait. Could we modify the shell program to do nothing but ward off attempts to corrupt it's programming?
Even if it stayed Pred-marked, keeping it's free will and personality intact is the goal right?
Not securing it.

Have to hunt down Tarantulas before then. Maybe try picking off as many of the other Preds as we can.
If we can do it without arousing too much suspicion, I'd like to try
>>Do like you said to Blackarachnia and try to reach the pod first yourself
>>
>>1868596
How would we do it without suspicion we told Optimus wed do somthing then we told Rhinox we have some secrtets and then we dont show up to work with them and the Protoform turns up working for the Predacons what do you think would happen?
>>
>>1868630
On the first, not sure. Maybe an opportunity comes up, maybe it doesn't. There's a reason I started with an 'if'.
On the latter part; why would the protoform end up working for the Predacons? The idea is to convince the protoform to remain nominally unaligned to either Maximal or Predacon, same way we did. We explicitly told the spider we weren't planning on using the reprogramming chips.
>>
>>1868672
Oh so it teams up with us? thats even worse...Look Rhinox and Optimus are already unhappy with us we flake on this and there will be consequences there will be more protoforms at some point but we told Optimus wed help him and we owe them for helping us despite how difficult we are
>>
>>1868541
>>Maximal plan, working with Dinobot
>>
>>1868691
We owe them bollock all.
We're not on their team. We've consistently helped them out anyway, and gotten ourself injured doing it.
The only reason they have this much advance knowledge on the protoform is because we told them.
I think we've more than paid our dues.
And there are consequences to either route.
>>
>>1868741
oh so all that tech and healing means nothing? when exactly have we helped them? in the first fight the preds were after us we captured black arachinia and let her escape and we atacked some preds because we like fighting not to help them. I mean Optimus asked us to fight the Preds less or at least call for help and we refused
>>
>>1868741

Most of our injuries have come from our OWN desires to try and wage a one-bot-war against the Predacons, which the Maximals aren't really comfortable with, but they're still willing to help patch us up after we've charged headlong into a skirmish they never planned for.

And anyway, we're not planning on using the reprogramming chips, and the Maximals also aren't planning on using a reprogramming chip. We have a better chance of convincing any free-minded Maximal protoform to join our ranging efforts then we have of getting a newly-spawned predacon to separate from Barney and the Spider gang.

>make a few more preparations over the next few days
>Maximal plan, working with Dinobot

You've been taking this time to reflect on the up coming mission. There's a lot at stake and you need to figure out whats going to work best for you in the long run.

Ultimately, having slept on it, you've decided that whent the day comes you're going to work with Dinobot and the Maximals plan. Blackarachnia might not take this well but you have the feeling that it wont be a world shattering decisions. She did say she had a back up plan, but she might think less of you for turning around and backing out of your own decision after you managed to sway her to trust in you.

You need to decide though you're exact course of action to prepare. One thing is Tarantulas; other than yourself and Blackarachnia he's got the largest scope and plan for this mission. The she spider already informed you that he mislead Megatron for his own ambition. And Blackarachnia wants him out of the picture to ensure your mutual success.

Another thing is to decide, do you tell Blackarachnia in advance that you're not going for the pod. Being straight forward with her might cushion the blow with the change of strategy. You wager she'll get upset if you dont say anything and lose the protoform to either the Tarantulas or to the Maximals straight up.

>Blackarachnia can wait, I need to focus on finding Tarantulas
>Blackarachnia should know, call her up on coms.

>Blackarachnia can wait, I need to focus on finding Tarantulas

I'm certain she would agree that eliminating Tarantulas is the biggest priority. She even made it the price for our new upgrades. Now where to look.

Well, you already know that that he has a lair in the swamps, but Blackarachnia also made mention that Megatron has been keeping most everyone on high alert which means he may be at the base. Of course she snuck out, whats to stop a scheming spider like himself from doing the same?

You're ally might have insight to this but do you did decide calling her could wait. You can always try looking for her lair and see what she's hiding. Of course you could ask Airazor or one of the Maximals for assistance in the search. But then again you can always just go with what you know now, look up his lair and see if he tries going back there. Or see if there's anything you missed while you were smashing his stuff. Or you could try tracking him the old fashion way, with pure animal instinct but you dont really have much to go on with that.

So which will it be?

>Track him down the old fashion way

>Check out the jungle where the stasis pod is set to land. He might have his own outpost to work from out there

Approaching from the north side of the jungle from your forest home, you're surprised to find the sky's cloudy and darkened. Must be the rainy season. That doesn't bode well. Will make following a scent more difficult. But you've traveled too far to let a bit of water slow you down.

The vegetation is thick, it makes it difficult to move, but also conceals you well. Even in this weather the wild life is abundance; mostly reptiles and amphibians but a few large mammals not unlike yourself. Whatever the stasis pod's scanners are looking for, they'll find something that'll fit the bill. Though now that you think about it, the pod might have a rough landing due to the amount of trees and how intertwined they are to each other. Hopefully not enough to damage it on its way down. Could make things troublesome.

You push forward until you hear something that almost sounds like laughter? Well, well, looks like you hit the jackpot. Sneaky spider. You start following the sounds of mumbling and cackling, until you find what looks to be a slight clearing near a rocky ledge side. A small cascade waterfall into a small pool of water is the back drop to the purple and green spider who's caught up in his work.

"Curse that Maximal, ruining my equipment and my lair. That freak will pay for this." You notice him walking around with a device in his hand. Looks like he's trying to calculate the exact position of the pods landing coordinates. Best of all, you've got the drop on him. You look around for any of the telltale signs of web traps like from his base or like Blackarachnia uses. Doesn't look like he's had time to set up anything. Maybe he was waiting to do so until after he'd learned what he needed.

>Too good of an opportunity to pass up, rush and pounce

>Transform and snipe his bug butt

The spider is completely unaware of your pressence. You've got him dead to rights. Back pedaling you keep him in view to get a proper vantage shot.

"Warpath, Transform." you switch to your robot form and start assembling your sniper rifle. Thanks to your upgrade courtesy of Terrorsaur's TCog, you can transform with near absolulte silence, avoiding giving away your position.

You take the spider into your scope and take aim. With his back to you, its almost too easy. You pull the trigger.

The shot goes wider than you expected. You werent quite ready for the recoil of your new blaster. This is the first time you've used it.

Fortunately the shot still strikes the spider in his back left leg. While it doesnt completely take it off, he does land on his back. The scanning device he has goes flying but you lose sight of it.

"Gah! Who's there?! Show yourself!" He lands back up on his feet, anchering them down as he fires barrage of machine guns....completely missing your placement.

He knows someone is out there, but he still hasn't made you. You can make two more shots before reloading.

You discharge the previous round and take aim of the spider one more time.

"Show yourself!" Tarantulas is getting more frantic, he swings his arms for a bit of spray and pray. The shots fly by for a few close calls but still fail to hit you.

But they are enought to throw off your shot. It hits his shoulder causing it to spark up. He's taken more damage this time but he's still standing.

"Wretched vermin! I'll find you yet!" You notice he puts a visor on over his eyes and is scanning the terrain.

Your not sure if you have enough time to get the third shot off before he finds you. But you still have one good shot.

Tarantulas draws his grapple gun and starts looking over the area. As he looks over the surrounding area looking for the shooter. He starts taunting you.

"I dont know how you found me or even knew to look for me here but they'll never find your chassis."

You know he has no idea to where you are but you're also not quite sure what this new device is that suppose to help him find you. No matter. You'll create a distraction.

You feel around on the ground and find a sizable rock. Before he starts to look in your direction, you toss it adjacent to him causing it to collide with the rock formation behind him. It hits with a loud crack and he whips around and fires....at nothing.

You raise up your rifle up and get ready to take a shot. You have a near perfect shot to the back of the neck where his head meets his shoulders. But he turns around after he notices he's been decieved. You fire your shot but he has enough time to evade it.

"YOU?!" he quivers with rage. "I'll make you pay for what you did to me."

"Which thing?"

"My lair you fool. I'll drag your mangled frame back to Megatron and let him tear you piece by piece."

He reaches back to reload his gun with a cyber venom shot.

Your rifle needs to be reloaded but perhaps you can try something different. Of course, you can always attempt to reload it and shoot but you'll be a sitting duck.

>Charge him with the Halberd

You do a quick weapon swap, putting the empty rifle away in favor of your halberd. Something about swinging this piece of energon tipped steel feels right. You charge the spider as he fires his bolt of cyber venom at you.

He almost has you dead to rights but you've seen this trick before. You've charged into the heat of battle into enemy gun fire before. This was no different. You swing and slice into the Predacon a solid hit at the last mintue as the glowing bolt misses you by inches.

Almost in a moment of deja vu, your slice though cleaves through Tarantulas arm and his spider legs but the opposite of the arm you cut last time.

You hear the spider scream out as you land behind him. He dives away from you. He panics as his eyes start looking around, searching for something. His weapon is still in his other hand but you think he's looking for that scanning device.

"Damn you Maximals"

"Get it through your head Pred, I'm not a Maximal."

"So you came here all alone?" He gives you a look, "Heh, fool."

>Charge him again with the Halberd, go for a finishing blow

You push off your heels to rush the spider. You're certain that you have him this time. He flinches as he looks at you coming after him. Trying desperately to reload his gun with his grapple hook you slice your blade through him. The energon blade cuts through him easily. His shrilled scream echoes through the jungle, as a variety of birds scatter throught the air.

You stand there with the spider struggling against the ground.

"Y..you'll...pay for this...you...filty Max.."

Before he finishes his sentance, you strike him one more time. This time with the tip of the halberd. His eyes and systems power down. Squash one spider.

You stand their alone in the forest. No sign of Maximal or Predacons. Apparently he was working alone on this. You remember he had a scanning device but you didnt see where it when off to.

What do you want to do now

>Take a trophy of Tarantulas

Scrap him good and proper, we're takin his head, spark and T.Cog. No bringing this cunt back.

Inform them that we found some reprogramming chips on him...maybe we can find a way to bug them...make them not actually do their task so when we "use it" nothing really happens

You get on your comlink, switching over to your secure channel. "Its me." You attempt a degree of discression, unsure on if anyone else is around.

"Blackarachnia, here."

"Mission completed." You say while staring down the body of Tarantulas.

"Really?!" you dont hear anything for a moment. Then the silence is broken by the sound of a cackling laughter. "Excellent. Is he scrap?"

"He's about to be." you say with a bit of satisfaction. "But by the way you mean, considered this spider squashed."

"Warpath, you magnificent beast. The pod is as good as ours." she cackles some more. "And the best part, all of his tech and research is ours as well. Things are looking grand and if the mission for the stasis pod goes this well, we'll be unstoppable."

"Just thought you'd like the news. But i do need to call this in to the Maximals as well."

While you are on a comlink, you swear you can hear her eyes rolling. "Fine fine, but you and i should find some time to celebrate. Whether or not you want to do so before or after our new ally emerges, i'll leave up to you."

With that she kills the transmition. Huh, didnt realize you had made that much of an impression on her. You switch back to your main com channel.

"Warpath to Maximal base."

"This is Maximal command, we hear you loud and clear Warpath. " You hear Rattrap. "How may i direct your call?"

You'd normally be annoyed by the mouse's crap but you're in too damn good a mood. "Give me sanitation, need someone to pick up the trashpile that used to be Tarantulas off the jungle floor."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa...you want to repeat that for me. It sounded like you just said..."

"Scratch one bug of the list."

"Warpath this is Optimus, report."

Oh, prime. "Well as i just told Rattrap, ran into Tarantulas and slagged him. Caught him snooping around Grid Delta."

"Really? Well done. Are you injuried? Do you need any assistance?"

"I'm fine Prime, I'm fine. Bug hardly laid a scratch on me." Kind of pathetic when you think about it. "Just thought I'd give you all the heads up."

"Well done Fangs. Not too shabby."

"Well i look forward to reading the report. Glad you're alright. Optimus out."

Well that was fun..wait report? Ah crap paper work. Gotta give it to B.A, atleast she's got a better incentive bonus for shredding preds.

So what to do with the spider? He's pretty mangled. His TCog is in worst shape than Terrorsaurs. No sigh of his spark. But there's his other stuff.

>Take his weapon, Grapple gun/cyber venom
>Take his head, might have some secrets that could be extracted
>Collect the pieces of his legs, might be albe to come up with something though they're pretty shredded
>Grab the visor, seems pretty utility

Stick visor on head. Easier to carry that way.

You look over the body of Tarantulas. You seem to have quite a selection of goodies to pick from. Who needs to be picky? Sure he's gonna stink and be heavy but what the hell? Though you'll certainly take that visor and place it upon your head. Looks stylish maybe? You start feeling the energon building up on your body. Well hell, its going to be difficult. You grab some vines and wrap up the remains of the Predacon into a large bundle. You're less than thrilled that you've got to pull the damn thing all the way back to your den.

On the brightside you've got the mission coming up and yet another less Predacon to deal with. Things are looking bright for you. But you know things are still going to be tricky.

and thats gonna do it for tonight

Thanks for coming folks. I'll be around for questions, comments and the such. i'll be archiving this one. Though we might run again this weekend. no guarantees though

Waspinator's going to be the one who gets lucky and slags us, right after we've chomped through all the Predacons we'd usually consider threats.

Hey guys I had originally wanted to run today but I found out that I've got a home appraisal coming up and need to get the house organized and cleaned.

That said, I will be running on Weds as per usual (possibly at a bit later than normal) but we will run.

In the meantime, since I wanted Wed to be 'the big day' if there is any small prep that you guys want to take before then, we can cover those in small sporadic post.
>>
>>1876172
Big day?

>>1876324
Stasis pod
>>
>>1876172
id like to have a spar with Dinobot
>>
>>1876172
I don't suppose we could reassess the needs of the forward group with optimus since we slagged Tarantulus...

So instead I would like to explain to Black Arachnia what we're supposed to be doing, and try to figure out how to keep Dinobot from trying to match our Offline count. Since we;re supposed to be with him it'll be easier to keep an eye on him, and since he's the only one that may be able to be called blood thirsty...yeah.

Although we might need to talk over the Black Arachnia thing with Optimus in general.
And explain our reasoning for why we've been going along with it/haven't reported it.

I.E. an edge on information, possibly trying to flip another Pred not unlike the case with Dinobot. Or creating a third less bloodthirsty faction that would be willing to just slag Megatron and go the fuck home.
>>
>>1876593
>>1876172
I hate double posting, but the point of a third faction would be to lure support away from Megatron.
Also possibly Optimus I guess, but that seems less important than trying to stop a war that's preventing both sides from fixing their shit and leaving.
>>
>>1876600
Yeah no we are NOT moving against Optimus why would we even want to? Hes been helping us out despite how difficult we can be
>>
>>1876600

Optimus pretty much wants to leave, though; getting a signal back to cybertron and having a ship come by to pick them all up would count as a win condition for him. The Predacons don't agree, though, and that's part of the reason we're fighting this thing to begin with.

>>1876609

Perhaps it's time to come clean with Optimus and acknowledge we're a Maximal. Still won't acknowledge Optimus as -our- leader until he can best us, but there's more to the Maximals then just 'guys who follow Optimus'.
>>
>>1876609
I wasn't suggesting moving against Optimus.
Even if we did form a third faction I'd like to stay loosely allied.
I don't see the harm in having a place for boots that rankle at him or Megatron to go though.

Why are you acting like anything besides joining him in the CR chamber for "private instruction" is trying to offline him and build armor from his chasis?
>>
>>1878089
Oh I dunno maybe the fact you said our factions purpose was to lure support from Megatron AND Optimus
>>
>>1878146
Well if anyone wanted to bail from the Maximals and meant it I would hate for their only option to be Megatron.
So yes. Best to keep them Maximal adjacent, and with us.
>>
>>1878509
Yeah the thing is the only reason people would want to bail from the maximals would be if we encourage them or they don't want to be a maximal in wich case why would they join us we are a maximal in al but name
>>
>>1878623
We have options.
Optimus is smothering.
Consent of the governed.
Possibility of higher ranking, if that matters to them.
Not being afraid to get our hands dirty.
If we flip a couple Predacons, then more direct access to information about the Predacons. And vice versa.

Take your pick.
>>
>>1878669
How is Optimus smothering? in case you haven't relized he all but thinks of us as a Maximal and his only request is we don't try to solo multple Predacons
>>
>>1878669
Also what the he'll does consent of the governed mean? Are you trying to say Optimus doesn't care what his men think?
>>
>>1876379
Ok so I get having the sparring session with Dinobot

But could you clarify what exactly you want to discuss with Optimus and Blackarachnia
>>
>>1882372

Tell Optimus about Blackarachnia's plans and that we could try to use them to get Megatron slagged. But that we might need him and the Maximals to 'stop' us if it looks like Blackarachnia might have an actual chance at reformatting the protoform.
>>
>>1883584
Seconded
>>
>>1883584
Ah I see. That's more of a vote post but than just a quick RP that I was going to do at the beginning of the thread.

Next thread will start in about 2 hrs
>>
>>1879122
In character reactions to him have always been to try to keep him at an arm's length, particularly when he's trying to look over our shoulder.
Some Maximals might feel the same.
>>
>>1882372
Just her intention for it.
Point out her flipping it isn't nearly as bad as Megatron getting it.
Maybe ask to have Rhinox take a look at the reformatting chips and see if he can change it so all it really does is prevent tampering with the spark-leaving any memories intact.
Even if it technically rebrands them a Predacon.
>>
>>1884261
its almost as bad tho
>>
>>1884425
Creating a double agent, tamper proof Maximal?
Or deposing an experienced enemy leader?
>>
>>1884261
>>1882372
We should also tell Backarachnia what Optimus intends us to be doing.
Ask her to try it our way.

Gotta give trust to get trust and all that.
>>
>>1884454
Brainwashing an unconscious fellow traveler? The Protoform is one of us, whoever we are and whatever side we fight for, and we've determined to allow it the freedom to choose that we ourself have fought for.
