The Raiders – Part 31

The threat before you is not insignificant. While the arrows may not be much of a threat, magic is always a danger; even with defenses such as yours it can injure, incapacitate, or worse, make you vulnerable.

Two warriors, an archer, and two wizards is a threatening combination no matter how you slice it; with Falna and yourself at the forefront of a charge, slicing is definitely a plan you have. The archer looses another volley; Falna catches one arrow mid-flight and discards it in a whirl, leaving the other two to slam into your spells and armor. Those you ignore, having already determined by similar means that arrows aren't a threat. The two warriors, however, might be a different matter; one is armed with a slender recurved blade that he wields in both hands, while the other readies a slender longsword and digs in a pouch at his side for a spell component of some sort.

Three wizards then. Maybe two and a half.

The crystal at the end of the grey wooden staff blazes to life, electricity arcing from the tip; the slender crystal staff of the femme does not ignite similarly, but her spell continues; a Summoning spell, of the sixth order; she's at least as powerful as Yashi. Most likely an angel or an elemental of one sort or another; that could be trouble.

Of course, you're a much deadlier threat, and more importantly: you're not alone.

>Roll 2d20 with your vote please.
[] Take out the warriors, have Schechei and Kteine take out the wizards.
[] Take out the summoner, even if it means taking a hit from the warriors.
[] Take out the lightning thrower before he actually throws it, though Yashi's defenses may mitigate some damage.
[] A Dazing Molten Orb will take care of the summoner and hurt the other wizard.
[] Mythic Dragon's Breath will take care of all of them very permanently. Choose Fire or Force.

Akko, like all her kind, has a measure of psychic ability. She will simply use most of these powers without prompting, instinctively, when appropriate. Her spells are another matter.
>She is a high ranking Gish, and may give orders to low ranking Knights; mid-ranked Warriors; high ranking Spellcasters, Skulkers, and Murderers; and any Gish lower ranked than herself.
>True Silver Sword: Siobhan
Siobhan offers her opinions and advice on matters when a vote is called for, drawing on Akko's potent intellect and voicing subconscious thoughts for her to consider.
>Current Spell Selection
Slaver Set Enhanced (Marauder) – heavy subdual and mass combat, moderate utility, moderate defense/buffs + a few really destructive spells.

>Current Cadre:
Yzia:Yzia: Mythic Solar Dragon, lover and companion. She may carry Akko and five others.
Falna: Mid-ranked Warrior (Unstable position); Class:Slayer, bound by Oath.
>Silver Sword: Malnae
Yashi: High-ranked Illusionist (Your Spellcaster); Class: Illusionist Wizard, Bound by Oath.
>notSilver Sword: Fehr Vaed
Tzanzi: High-ranked Murderer (First in Command); Class: Pureblade Slayer, Bound by Oath and Friendship.
Auena: Mid-ranked Gish (Yzia's new quarry); Class: Psychic Warrior, Bound by Oath.
Schechei:: Mid-ranked Gish (mated to Falna); Class: Magus, Bound by Oath
>Silver Sword: Tiagothe
Kteine: Mid-ranked Gish (your adoptive daughter and acolyte); Class: Psychic Warrior, bound by Oath
>Silver Sword: Achris

>Akko's Current Supreme Leader
Dunzamn, a Lord Knight with a True Silver Sword (Voorsi), leader of the Raid upon the Elven and Human Kingdoms of Iridaiya and Boggsteading, respectively.
>His dragon companion Jacinth, whose true name is an unknown, and is an ancient creature.

[X] A Dazing Molten Orb will take care of the summoner and hurt the other wizard.

You stop and incant the spell; you're not going to massive damage, only enough to distract and injure enough to disrupt that Summons. You sling the glowing orb of molten brass at the summoner, and her image wavers, a displacement effect that you manage to penetrate despite how difficult those spells are to get through. Serves you right; there's no reason these people would be any less well defended than you are. The burst of liquefied brass explodes, raining hot droplets across the malle wizard, who grits his teeth and ignores it. The summoner, however, screams, a wavering, high pitched noise that hurts your ears.

It is safe to say she won't be finishing that spell anytime soon.

Falna is on the warrior with the bow and sinks claws and teeth into him, tearing through armor and flesh alike, crimson spray exploding from him. Schechei ripples past you, the Bladed Dash allowing her to move further and bring the battle to the warrior with the curve-blade whom is hard pressed to defend himself; Falna is somewhat more limited and doesn't quite get to the other warrior.

Which turns out pretty well for her as shining bars of light appear around and through them, confusing the warrior as he holds up a bit of silver wire – a focus for an Electric Arc spell. The bars vanish with a responding bell-like tone and the eruption of force energies drives him to his knees, his clothing torn and his armor scorched. She didn't hold anything back that time, unlike with the githyanki warrior she last used that power upon.
>>
Thrusting his staff towards you, the malle wizard lets loose a stroke of lightning that washes over all of you; by and large Yashi's spell takes the entirety of it; none of you are so weak bodies that such a blast is a real threat when the protections that Yashi applied are taken into account.

The wizard immediately begins incanting a much deadlier spell – Archon's Trumpet, which will paralyze those who hear it if they cannot resist. Unfortunately, it isn't a mental assault, but a physical one, meaning the mental defenses that come naturally to your kind will be useless against it.

>Roll the dice indicated please.

[X] Charge in and attack the wizard; the others are in no position to stop you. Roll 2d20

You dart past Falna, who is currently tearing the elven archer's throat apart with her teeth, Schechei, who is currently leaving spatters of acid all over the poor bastard she's slowly carving apart – though there's streaks of sapphire on her armor where he's landed a couple of hits – and the stunned warrior and the dazed wizardess. The wizard continues his spell attempting to duck away from your strike to prevent you from harming him....and then gasps as you pierce all his defensive magics. He dies instantly as you drive Siobhan through his heart, all his spells collapsing as he slumps over your blade.

You sweep the gleefully shrieking Siobhan (who kindly leaves her shrieking to telepathy as opposed to literally doing so) down and drop the dead body to the floor of the living cavern as Falna reaches the other wizard and drive her sword into the femme's gut. The wizard coughs softly, and looks up with glazed eyes, trying to focus on the female who is killing her. Schechei is having only a little trouble, and Kteine's target is still quivering from the discordant blast of astral forces, which allows Auena to walk over to him and crash her glove into his face. He falls over backwards, and she glances at you for orders.

You draw your fingers across your chest, along your hearts, and she looks down at him, then stomps on his solar plexus as Falna opens the femme's abdomen entirely, keeping her sword in the woman to prevent the spell form misguiding her. When Falna enters the fray on Schechei's side, the warrior lasts only seconds before the pair tear and cut him apart respectively. Not all that much of a challenge after all, disappointing.

Grinning, Yzia walks through the carnage, and notices the wizard you ran through has only the single wound, oozing slowly. “Akko, do you ever actually fight with people, or do you simply find it too tiresome to bother with.”

[X] Write in? A surreptitious once over to be sure that the injuries Schechei suffered are unimportant; Auena surely remembers your battle well.

You use Siobhan's tip to toss the staff the wizard dropped to Yzia, who hands it to Yashi without looking; Yashi tucks it into a pouch, the long weapon sliding in effortlessly. Falna picks up the other staff and gives it to Yashi as well, and it too vanishes into that pouch. A moment to collect any gems and the few magical baubles they have, and you are ready to go.

“Their lack of skill is not my fault, beloved, and I see no reason to waste time on them if they are going to do nothing but let me kill them.” Auena shakes her head with a wry smile, and you glance at her with a grin. She's been on the receiving end of your skill, and it was just as one-sided. “I am merely much more direct with my assaults – all the flamboyance is in the preparation for it. As Auena may attest.”

“Such ego,” murmurs Yzia, not unfondly. Siobhan snickers, while Auena blushes faintly.

Tzanzi wipes blood from her mouth and glances at you. “I can smell ice from down the halls. I suspect there will be a wall of it on the way deeper.” You look over to her and consider, but it is Schechei you look over in passing, Siobhan's understanding of flesh and blood informing you that she is only superficially hurt. The acolyte takes a lozenge of some sort and places it in her mouth, shockingly upon the healing-imbued tablet, which sets her woulds to closing rapidly. An alternative to potions, perhaps.

You gesture and once more your Cadre arranges itself as you demanded. The hall splits twice, but Yashi's examination of the route earlier leads you deeper – and notably down. The slope is not steep, not yet, but it is very distinct. “It will become worse,” she warns, but generally speaking you should all be fine – the Tactical Acumen spell will keep everyone on solid footing.
>>
Sure enough, there is a wall of ice, thick enough that it is impossible to see through despite its translucence. The spell is recently cast, and the caster is not terribly powerful, though almost as powerful as Yashi is. The radiance of the cold is strong enough to feel despite the protection that Yashi has given each of you; it won't harm any of you, but that means the caster used extra effort in making the wall deadly.

“Shall I leave one for you, this time, Yzia?” You ask solicitously, running your gauntleted hand along the smooth wall of ice, careful not to scratch it or make it sing. She laughs softly and shakes her head.

[] Since the Mythic Dragon's Breath will last some time and multiple uses, it might be worthwhile to cast it now and burn through. This uses one point of mythic power, and gives total three uses of the dragon's breath.Choose Force or Fire.
[] Bribe Yzia to take down the wall, and anyone who might be behind it....
[] Between yourself, Falna and Tzanzi, a wall of ice is more a liability to those behind it.
[] Ask Yashi if she can see to the other side – she is a voyeur after all.
[] Cast a maximized Fire Shield upon yourself and take the wall out with an added offensive and defensive power that will last.

[X] Ask Yashi if she can see to the other side – she is a voyeur after all.

The wall might be too thick for a githyanki to see through, but Yashi is another matter.

“Yashi, would you mind terribly putting some of those skills you have honed watching others at play to use seeing what our hosts have prepared for us on the other side of the wall?” Tzanzi walks over to the wall and removes her helm. “What in the Names of the Dead Gods are you doing?”

“Quiet.” She presses her forehead to the wall, then turns her head, placing her ear against it, the spell Yashi provided preventing her from injury, though it can't possibly be comfortable. You notice Schechei and Kteine alike shocked by your casual acceptance of Tzanzi's brusque demand for silence. There's little doubt they've seen Leaders who would respond with much more violence for lesser infractions.

As Yashi pulls a fist sized globe of polished crystal from a pouch, you explain. Tzanzi has been both my commander and under my leadership. She is brusque because she is brusque, and if she demands silence then there is a good reason for it. You use the flight spell to move away from the wall, to where the others wait. It is a foolish Leader who is unaware of his Cadre's natures and skills.

Take heed, warns Falna. Whatever Akko's faults may be, a poor leader she is not. You glance at Falna mildly, and Siobhan whisper-sings a warning to you. She's been far too agreeable, and far too tolerant, in your opinion and experience. Siobhan outright does not trust her in the least.

Yashi stares into the globe and then tucks it away. She closes her eyes and sends all of you a visual image, which you carve quickly into the living flesh-floor of the tree you stand within for Tzanzi. Eight elven warriors – this team far better armed and armored than the last. Three of the warriors have magical weapons, there are three wizards, one gish-archer, and a very large carnivorous plant creature, clearly magically empowered.

Of the wizards, two carry wands and one a rod, while the warriors carry long-swords in two cases, and a wickedly barbed recurved blade in the third. They stand some twenty feet from the wall, the two longsword bearers using unusually heavy shields to protect themselves and the wand wielders, while the other wizard – clearly more powerful – stands another thirty feet distant from them. The carnivorous plant is a mere pace from the wall, ready to pounce; the gish archer is crouched slightly behind and between the shield-bearers.

This changes things quite a bit – the plant creature is a threat just as it is, regardless if it is a druid or not. They are hardy, regenerate, powerful, and this one is magically fortified, though Yashi cannot give much detail other than it has been bolstered with several spells. Tzanzi walks over and speaks quietly. “There is a very big – ah, nevermind.” She studies the diagram you've made for her, and nods. “I expect that it will attempt to consume whomever is first through the wall. It is a tendriculous, and they are difficult to kill, even with fire. They heal with speed that makes anything less than mortal wounds worthless.”

“It is more likely a druid in the shape of such a thing, since it hasn't eaten the elves,” Auena comments and you incline your head in agreement. “I can wrestle with it, given a few seconds to prepare, and keep it occupied as you slay the others.

[] Since the Mythic Dragon's Breath will last some time and multiple uses, it might be worthwhile to cast it now and burn through. This uses one point of mythic power, and gives total three uses of the dragon's breath.Fire is the choice – you may Maximize this spell if you wish, costing one more Mythic Point (each breath will do maximum damage).

[X] Since the Mythic Dragon's Breath will last some time and multiple uses, it might be worthwhile to cast it now and burn through.

You motion everyone back and take out one of the scales Yzia has given you, and begin the spell. Your voice resonates unnaturally as you speak the incantation, and you are certain that without the Inscrutable Rune your aura would be flared, filled with white light and shattered rainbows. The scale dissolves and you feel the warmth erupt in your chest, the power of the Dragon's Breath surging. While the spell unaltered would only work once, with this additional power you can use it several times – though you suspect that like Yzia, it would be impossible to use quickly.

The others prepare for an immediate fight, and you take a slow, deep breath, rising off the floor to allow you to angle the breath down from the tendriculous towards the enemy. Unlike the flame of a red dragon, the breath of Yzia's kind is far more potent and intense, and much more cleanly directed. You exhale, blasting the ice with the white hot rush of incandescent flame, the ice melting before you. You don't penetrate all the way through on the first blast, more is the pity. But now you can see the creature through the clear pane of ice, and the distorted figures beyond it.

You remark that they'll be prepared for fire now, which isn't an issue as Schechei's blade Tiagothe is swathed in acids and Kteine's deadly Achris is humming in deadly potency. Still, better effective and informed than ill-informed and ineffective.

The massive beast of greenery and swamp-stuff slams tentacles against the wall, shaking the ice but hardly damaging it. You, on the other hand, unleash a second blast of breath, which turns the remainder of the wall to a thick steam, and causes the tendriculous to make a sound like a rush of wind through leaves. The stench of burning vegetation erupts through the hallway, the creature even more vulnerable to the hideous flames than the others. Not even the wizard is far enough away, the flames nearly filling the corridor.

The two wizards and one of the warriors manage to stay behind the shields, which receive a heat polish that destroys the designs enameled into them; all of the others suffer severe burns. The wizard furthest back is shocked, as his defenses fail to protect him from the supernal flame of the sun-dragon breath.

If you could manage it immediately you would be tempted to engulf them in flames again. You gesture, several swift ones, and your Cadre leaps into the fray. Yzia blinks at the plant beast, heavily burned and injured. It howls as your Cadre charges into the hallway, and Siobhan sings songs of death and destruction gleefully. With the advent of it's fiery doom, the creature does not regenerate the horrid damage it's suffered, and in this moment is vulnerable to any method of slaying you can manage.

Unfortunately, it is still large enough to swallow half of your cadre in one bite, and the paralytic venoms it possesses would be fatal....

>Mage Strike will require expending a single mythic point.

[] See how things go for a few seconds, and prepare to drop a Scripted Hallucination on the enemy to prevent their coordination.
[] Write in?
Siobhan would absolutely love to explode a druid into fiery chunks of smoking flesh.

[X] Tempt Yzia into laying waste to the creature for you – you surely have something nice to offer her....

The plant-beast shudders, lunging at you as you slip through the air easily, lightly landing a short distance from Yzia. On your guard, of course, and ready to protect Yzia if the badly wounded thing attempts to do her harm. Yzia watches you with amusement, enjoying her status as protected by you, despite the fact that she is still a dragon, and entirely capable of doing so herself.

My love, what sort of gift would you accept as payment for engaging this gruesome monstrosity on my behalf? The tendriculous lashes out but you are not there, instead dancing within reach of that fearsome maw and those vine-threaded lengths of burned swamp-flesh and knotted root.

The others are doing very well, your opening salvo having entirely ruined whatever plans the elvenkind had made in preparation for your attack. Not to mention having burned through what appears to be a wall of brambles and thorns growing from the tree-flesh itself, undoubtedly meant to keep you trapped here and unable to advance further. Still, this group of elves is competent, and well trained.

Thrashing madly the druid-beast turns and lunges at you, but you easily slide through the air, avoiding it's murderous intent with graceful ease. Surely you have something in mind – aside from more decorous jewels for my breasts. Rather, above and beyond those. She hops back as the tendriculous lashes at you, shaking the walls of the tree with it's enormously powerful blows that fail to come close to hitting you.

Well....I did have a thought yes. Two actually. I know that Yashi is starting to suffer from battle-lust. It is very obvious in her wide eyes, the faint tremor in her hands, her too eager fondling of her weapon's hilt – that latter indicating that a female may not be her desire. Siobhan sings softly to the weapon, crooning to Fehr Vaed. Fehr Vaed sings softly back, suggesting that her mistress is going to need the attentions of a male most urgently when the opportunity to calm arises. However, it will not be a female she needs. Naturally, we would not wish her to seek out some other Cadre's male and risk herself and her treasures to slake that need....

Yzia laughs aloud as you dart casually over the thrashing limbs, and her voice is filled with amusement. Are you suggesting that Yashi would make an offering worthy to do battle for, Akko? She naturally isn't too impressed with the offer, considering how easy a conquest she has in so many others.

I was rather thinking that you might enjoy me taking male form and performing with her. The surge of unbridled lust and shock is gratifying – and distracting.

You hardly more than grunt as the druid-beast's thorn-lined jaws snap shut upon your arm, your armor preventing much of the damage and your spells preventing the wounds from being anything more than superficial. You rip your arm free easily, scattering thorns and leaves and swampy flesh alike, your arm bruised but otherwise unharmed. Naturally your rage is eclipsed by Siobhan's outrage, and her unearthly shriek resounds within the minds and ears of all nearby.

Of course, the massive, dragon that explodes past you radiates flame and hate in waves is far more terrifying, and all but you are engulfed in the powerful aura of her magnificent presence.

HOW DARE YOU, YOU INSIGNIFICANT MAYFLY! Unearthly fire erupts in shimmering, colorless waves from around her, scorching and twisting the wood of the tree, and the weird flesh of the alien monstrosity she has leaped upon. It scorches and burns the elves closes by as well, their flesh erupting in pustules and their hair withering, teeth and nails falling out as the strange radiance burns them. You press against the wall and the massive dragon - much larger than last time she took her true form, by and order of magnitude at least – opens her jaws wide, aiming down at the creature she overwhelms. I WILL LAY WASTE TO YOUR ENTIRE WORLD FOR YOUR INSULT AND YOUR ARROGANCE!

She opens her mouth and breathes....and the white hot flash of her breath is nearly blinding in it's intensity, the beast instantly vaporized by the rush of radiant flames that erupts from her mouth, the rainbow-laced searing blaze so bright that nothing but those flames and Yzia's glowing eyes are visible in the world. The entire tree shudders, writhing under the onslaught, and when she finishes, there is a ten foot wide pit that extends more than a hundred feet down, blasted through the living xylem of the entire home Tree. The elves quake in fear, their eyes burned white – your companions blinded, but not permanently, save Falna and Tzanzi – and Yzia stands, her massive body heaving with the force of her outrage.

You stare at the gargantuan form of your lover and companion as she takes in the ruined elvenkind and the still burning hole she has burned into the Home Tree. So....I take it that is a yes, then?

....I want you to have her babies, Akko, murmurs Siobhan very softly into your mind.

>To Be Continued....

Siobhan, please.

Thanks for running! Gonna admit I did a double-take on the blindness part of the sentence before parsing correctly, haha.
>>
Thank you for reading and playing, and your continued patience.

I am getting better, but it's still difficult, between the fires and the injury.

To answer thee first question, Yzia now counts as an Ancient Solar Dragon, with 3 mythic Ranks and all the power and threat that implies (Her CR is one less than Akko's). Her mythic powers are taken from the Path of the Dragon, naturally. She can now carry 2 more people (and her harness will need to be remade) and she is clearly a great deal more dangerous.
>>
>>1857531
The elves are permanently blind, whiel Falna, yourself and Tzanzi are not blind, and the rest of your Cadre is temporarily blind.
>>
>>1857527
>....I want you to have her babies, Akko, murmurs Siobhan very softly into your mind.
We can make time for that after the raid (or maybe even just during a bit of a lull in the raid considering Akko seems adept at making time her bitch)

>>1857532
That's neat that Yzia can use her Mythic power to advance some age categories, and it's nice to see her being able to keep up with Akko.

>>1857531
Yeah that threw me off at first as well.
>>
Thanks for writing
Our dragon certainly is hot

A little awkwardly worded, sorry. I'm exhausted and hurting, which is also distracting.

Well damn

thanks for running, and I'm happy to learn you are getting better despite the difficulties.
>>
>>1857536
And somewhat radioactive.
>>
>>1857532
Clearly increased carrying capacity is the most important upgrade! Hopefully we can appease her with our gifts once time can be made for it.

I assume it must be possible for dragons and githyanki to have kids if Siobhan thinks so. Is it super rare?

>>1857540
Good think we're no fragile lesser race then!
>>
>>1857541
The cosmology is a Pathfinder variant, I'm pretty sure dragons can (and do) impregnate almost literally everything except Undead and Constructs (maybe not Plants either?)
>>
>>1857541
Akko theorized that if she or Yzia were to mate with a fertile ale, then use magic tot ake a male form, the seed spilled into their bodies would be subsumed into the transformation and would then be able to be ejaculated into a female the mated with.

However, now that Yzia can transform for as logn as she likes, if she takes male for for a week or so, her body will naturally produce spermatozoa and she would be able to impregnate females with her own seed rather than that borrowedfrom a male.

This of course, bars using spells to immediately gain fertility or the like, which Akko does not have access to (but Yzia does).

Well someone has her priorities in order

I always rewrite the dragons spell lists - Limited Wish makes far more sense than Control weather does, to say the very least (she's keeping Plane Shift, however).

All in due time, our love.

Incidentally, it may interest you to know that is no where near what i expected to happen in this session, at all.

>>1857609
Awww, I hope we didn't disappoint on the slaughter and burninating front. We're just rusty!
>>
>>1857609
What did you expect?

>>1857618
Definitely not that.

>>1857616
Not at all, you're doing well. It only gets harder from here though.
>>
>>1857621
It was a very well put together trap. we might have been in some trouble if we hadn't scryed ahead.
>>
Well what do you know, 5e's Unearthed Arcana just released the rules for Gith PCs.
>>
>>1857839
I'm tempted to see how much they borrowed from me.
>>
>>1857861

One of their perks is called "Decadent Mastery".
>>
>>1857890
And they're designed for gish/monastic builds as well.

That's hilarious.
>>
>>1857890
>>1857912
And yet I bet there's absolutely NO mechanic for cute solar dragon mates! Complete waste.
>>
>>1857912

Not really hilarious, Gith have always been that.
>>
>>1857968
Well, you have to recall all the player complaints about no Str+Int races.
