You type her a quick answer and ask her where she would like to meet you. After a few seconds you get a response back to meet downstairs, which she explains away as wanting to just be away from prying ears. Finding no fault with that logic you agree and excuse yourself from the room and make your way down, finding a nice plush armchair to sink into while you wait.

It’s less than a minute before you hear the tell-tale clack of her boots against the stairs and you see her small frame enter the common room.

“So...what’s up Red?” You ask, watching as she plops down in the seat opposite you.

She fumbles with her hands for a moment before making eye contact with you, those unique silvery orbs dancing with your jade ones.

“Are, uh….you sure about the teams?” She asks quietly, before shooting her hands up “N-not that I don’t trust your judgement just...uh…” She trails off, and you wait quietly for her to continue. When she finally speaks up it floors you. “I’m not sure I should be a team leader.”

You almost want to ask her to repeat herself because of how quiet she said it.

It's a learning process something you have to go through too. One thing you are sure of is that she has a whole bunch of talent and a lot of smarts, and she looks out for everyone else. That makes her a leader in your eyes.
>>
>>1856767

“What do you mean?” You ask, lacing your hands together.

“Am I really a good candidate for this? I mean...what is the criteria for a good leader? Because I don’t think i’ve got it.” She says, and you watch a shiver run down her spine. “I’m a kid...WE are kids. How does Ozpin know we’re ready?” She continues.

It reminds you of when you had met her not even a week before, in that quiet little cell. Alone, afraid and very far out of her element. You have no words for her, as you were yourself in her same position of unsure leadership. You were both just thrown into this position, you just never thought that you would not be alone in this.
“I...wish I knew.” You begin, mulling the ideas in your head over trying to break them down into something digestible. “I’m not a leader either, Ruby. Up until we met I lived out in the woods with Khrone and before that…” You trail off, breaking eye contact.

(That moment when you pass out at your desk...I should probably sleep after this)

“The past isn't important.” You say after a moment, returning your gaze to the girl. You are unsure of where the sudden steel like resolve comes from as it begins to sink into your voice, but you can physically see Ruby gripping onto it as she leans closer to listen.

“It doesn't quite matter where I've been, what I was doing before here and now. What matters is that I'm here, like it or not.” You plough on. “Sure I don't know what I'm doing, and I'm afraid; Deeply, deeply afraid. Because compared to six years of nonstop fighting for my life, this is the most dangerous and scary thing I've ever done.” You continue to admit, the crack Jaune had formed in your perfect dam opening further; As you finally had someone who shared your new predicament, if only partly.

“Because I'm not just responsible for me anymore, but you, and Yang, and Jaune, and Pyrrha and everyone else. I can't just walk into problems without fear because now? Now I've got something to lose.” You don't even know why you're trusting this girl as you say this, but you nail the point home finally with your closing words.

“Sure, I'm not a leader; but I think you and I have the same thing every other great leader had to make them great.”

“W-what?” She asks, though you cannot tell if it is awe or fear that seeps into her voice.

Hearing the wavering in her voice you set your gaze in her eyes, steeling every ounce of whatever courage was filling you. Because everything you said meant nothing if not even you believed it.

“Something worth fighting for. Something that we would go the lengths of the world to protect.” You answer, and you see the realization dawn on the girl’s face. When she speak up however it gives you pause.

“What do you fight for, Lucius?”

You fought for many things, to survive, to reach another day. Simple things like that; However you knew she was asking you to embellish her, to tell her what exactly was the thing you would carry the burden of leadership for. Again there were many things that you could answer with, though you knew that deep down there was truly only one answer.

>Well, what is that that you fight for EXACTLY.
>A. You, Ruby. I’ll carry this burden to preserve yours, and everyone else's innocence.
>B. My Friends. For the first time in my life I have people other than just Khrone to call friend; If I must take this mantle to keep hold of that, so be it.

“First and foremost? I fight for you, for Yang, for Jaune and Pyrrha, Ren and Nora; For our Cadre. Because like I said before: for the first time in years I have a place where i’m not constantly having to worry about Beowulf or Boarbatusk, where I have a bed and people to talk to and...I have a home.” You say quietly, finally closing your eyes and doing what you can to lock the girl out of your head.

You hadn’t planned on letting her see you like this, you were supposed to be the leader; Resolute and invincible in the face of the most impossible and deadly of situations. Yet here you were, choking on words because for the first time you had a home and friends and everything that you had lost almost a decade before. It was pathetic, and both of you knew it.

Yet you feel the usual warmth of another human as she hugs you, the gentle scent of vanilla dancing in your senses. It floors you, you have no idea why she is doing this and before you can even speak she places her hand over your mouth.

“Don’t you dare.” She say, only moving her hand once you nod in understanding. “Look at me.” She instructs, and after a few seconds you obey. Her silvery eyes are only a few inches from your own. “Because we’re the same. We both want to protect the same things...there’s no shame in that.” She says quietly.

The quiet moment spent between you after her words feels like an eternity, however it is not a peaceful one. For you feel it again, that same feeling of disconnection you had felt the day before. Yet why baffles you, there is no enemy, no threat; Only you and the girl who had you in her embrace...alone...with no one around.
What the hell is wrong with you?!

“Ruby…” You start to murmur, already leaning into the embrace of the red reaper.

“Mn?” She murmurs in response, looking up at you.

Locking eyes with the girl again that disconnect begins to mutate. It isn’t a disconnect as much as it is a...split. But a split with what? It also isn’t as aggressive, as angry, as afraid as it was the day before. As you continue to stare into her silver pools you are overwhelmed by a feeling of curiosity, of comfort, of...longing? Longing for what?

None of it makes sense! What is happening to you?!

This whole time however you’ve been arguing with yourself you’ve been leaning closer and closer, drawn and haunted by the pale and ghostly color of her eyes.

You can’t even stop yourself as you continue to lean closer to the huntress and after a moment she proceeds to follow you. There are no words, and part of you desperately wishes there were; Because perhaps some words, ANY words could knock some sense into you. Yet the silence remains and the inevitable happens.

You don’t know how to describe the feeling of her lips on yours, as there are so many tiny things you notice during the perhaps seconds that the chaste moment occurs. The first to hit you of course is the softness of the flesh against your own, followed soon after by that subtle hint of sugar. The last is her eyes, the mercurial pools seeming to dim in the shadow of your frame over hers.

It is nothing like the strange, rough and sudden kiss you had with Neo in Juniors. If you were honest you had no real comparison to the moment, and for a split second you wonder if you could find out with Yang at a later date.

However the sudden spell is broken when you close your eyes, as without her eyes your brain suddenly seems to jerk to activity. You don’t mean to but you jerk your head away and look down at the girl.

“Ruby...I...I..” However when she looks into your eyes what you see in the reflection haunts you.

Red, the same glowing burning red as the Grimm; And this time, there was no doubts, no tricks of the light.

It was you.

Her voice seems distant, and grows farther and farther away. The world around you begins to fade, yet the last thing you see is those Silver orbs; Tainted red with the glimmer of your eyes.

.

.

.

You wake to the sound of waves and feeling of long grass dancing along your limbs. As you open your eyes the sky, pale and blue as it always was is without a cloud in the sky. Getting to your feet your head rings with the last vestiges of a headache that you must of gotten when you fell into the field.

As you stand you look around you, and are met with a breathtaking vista. The field around you is nothing but tall grass and wild wheat, with rolling forested hills to your west. To the east the occasional spray of sea mist shoots over slate cliffs, the cool breeze and scent of salt water adding to the musky scent of wet earth.

Behind you the field stays open before plummeting down the cliffs, leaving only the north left.

It is a curious sight that lays to the north of you, with jagged crags of rock and stone. You can see the glint of light reflecting pieces of the crags and you realize that they are not crags, but ruins.

Time to theorize my anon! I think that the mechanical argumentation were not the only thing that we had done to us in Icarus, the symbology is pretty heavy there with us loosing our arms because of foolishness, but the whole settlement failed because of the foolishness of the adults who might have been messing with things they shouldn't have. Grimm things at that, I am getting the feeling that we might have had a grimm symbiote implanted in us to assist with hunter training or at least with our auguments. Also I find strange that two candidates of Icarus went off the grid like that for so long with no actual tracking. How do we know that our "friend" really did follow us out of friendship d not to report back to his backers from the program?

The reason for the splitting in wanting this to happen might have been caused by the grimm inside us rearing away from the huntress with silver eyes as their bloodline are mortal enemies the other side of us is the young dorky kid that just felt the urges of a kid.

It's quite a trek, but you decide to look into the ruins ahead of you. You're thankful for your boots and brace as you trudge the distance, the sun bathing you in the heat as it reaches its zenith. As you get closer the ruins only get larger and larger, towering over your head.

By the time you reach the base you look up the sixty foot ruins and realize that they were in fact walls, incredibly thick ones at that. The glimmering you had seen? Circuitry and metal panels that have since buckled or began to rust. Peering through the cracks in the wall you see a sudden drop off on the other side.

It is a simple climb, though not without its risks. Crumbling concrete and loose metal meaning that many natural handholds were hit or miss. It is probably a good twenty minute climb, and as you finally pull yourself onto the wall you see what lays beyond. At first you aren't sure exactly what it is, as memories swirl in your mind; Yet no matter how you grasp at these strands of memories, they stay out of reach.

The drop is not simply a sea wall, but a crater; Crumbled walls rimming the entire perimeter. As it spirals further down into the crater you see scattering of buildings in various states of disrepair, leading up to the last major structure of the ruin.

A massive, angry spire made of equal parts black rock and metal. You see fading green and orange of rusting and oxidizing metal, forming a long decrepit and broken image. You can't imagine how long the jutting, defiant symbol of humanity had been in this crater; Let alone who had built it.

However all the same it calls to you.

You're drawn to it, and as you make the hike down the crater you pass the broken and crushed buildings, clawed doors and other debris. Whatever happened here must have been huge, as there were even tattered remains of clothes and skeletons strewn about, rusted weapons and all. You force yourself to look away from the devastation however as you continue your way to the tower, walking through its looming shadow and trying to find a way in.

Like a rotting cavity you find what must have once been the lobby of the building, with much of the lower levels hollow above you. As you stare at the long since ruined elevator shaft you see the shaft goes further still into the bowels of this husk, yet equally curious is the top of the shaft; with swinging cables denoting a breeze.

You take a running jump, your hands gripping onto the steel beams within the shaft and after a few experimental touches, begin the arduous climb up the shaft. It is touch and go at many points, and you almost fall when a beam comes loose; But after what feels like an hour you finally reach the top.

The doors are buckled and bent inwards, and beyond them the lobby of an immaculate waiting room appears before you. Stepping through the ruined door you see why, for in both directions there are small pads for aircraft to land. It was as much a waiting room as it was a departure point, yet here too skeletons and weapons are laid.

The only other thing of note is the scratched and ruined wood doors before you, gold and brass fading and again the faded symbol you had seen on the towers facade appears here. It must have belonged to the owner, and as you reach for the worn handle the wood rots away and with twin ‘Thud’’s the doors fall into the room.

Stepping into the room the musky smell of old paper and rotting carpet fills your nose and you almost recoil at the smell, however after a few moments the smell is tolerable and you step further in. Whatever the place had used to be was most likely an office; As the finery that doted it ceiling to floor had to have been resplendent in their heyday.

Sitting still at the rotting desk was another skeleton, and as you approach it was clearly long rotted, with an antique revolver on the desk along with some other scattered items. As you approach the desk you see that they are a revolver, a faded gold pocket watch, its hands frozen at 6:12 a musky book and massive brass key.

Stuffing the contents into your pockets you look around the room for anything else, however all you find is more ruined books and long disintegrated paper. Making your way back out to the lobby, you step through the buckled door and peer down the shaft. Before you even debate knocking the cable down to descend you hear the desk collapse. Turning to look you find that the skeleton gone.

Letting the cable fall down the empty shaft, you wrap the cable around your arm and take a leap down. Sparks dance from your arm as the two metals grind against one another, slowing your descent as you continue past the lobby and into the basement. Before you the elevator door is still shut, in fact you were currently standing on the elevator car, which had seemingly collapsed into the shaft at an earlier point.

Pressing your hands into the gap of the doors you tug hard and after a few moments you manage to open the doors. The reason you had such difficulty becoming apparent as you realize the basement still had power. How such a thing was possible was behind you, and stepping through the door you hear it close behind you. Looking down the lit halls you find that compared to the rest of the facility, this place is relatively well kept. There was no dust, no debris, no rot.

It was an oddity to be certain.

Other than the hall splitting at the near edge, there was a massive vault door, equally pristine as the rest of the basement. Just staring at the door fills you with a feeling of both unease and dread. You hadn’t been here before, had you? You had never seen the door, nor had you seen the inscription above.

Stepping up to the massive, gilded vault door; and looking over the door you find something of note. All of the locking bolts are interconnected to a singular point: A hollow recess about the size of your palm in the center of the door. Along the edges of the recess you can see scratches and other slight marks, meaning that whatever was put into the recess had been used multiple times by an unsteady hand. Looking at the hole you slowly pull out the pocket watch and see that its face, while well worn, is also equally scuffed.

They couldn’t be connected, could they? Of all the keys to have why would you use the WATCH? Pressing it into the recess however you find your answer.

There is a soft click and you can hear the gears of the watch rapidly spinning, twisting and spinning yet unseen lock pins and gears, the inner lock bolts twisting away and pulling yet other bolts until finally with a quiet hiss the grounding bolts recede into the door itself. It’s job finished, the clock pops out without a sound: However before you can even grip the timepiece it begins to fall apart, springs and gears splaying out all over the floor.

The Looking Glass has Been Opened.

The door slides open without a sound as you step back from the massive door you feel your heart sink like a stone. Whatever is behind this door was locked for a reason, and with a dull thud you hear the lights above within the room kick on and what you see sends a searing bolt of agony through your mind.

You know EXACTLY where you are now.

It’s Icarus….it is the sub basement that you were never allowed to enter. None of the children were ever allowed anywhere near this place. Not even-

Another bolt sends you to your knees and you can no longer bite back and let out a scream, your hands grabbing your hair as you do everything you can to block out the memories. The smell of burning flesh and cordite, of the screams and washes of blood. The pain of your arms being ripped away from your body.

Your body is wracked with contortions but as the pain subsides you finally get to your feet. Your bathed in a cold sweat now but you are now left with a choice. Do you brave whatever lay beyond or do you run now...run away from Icarus...however you had managed to get here.

Swallowing your fear you step into the dimly lit vault and the moment you step past the threshold you feel your skin turn to ice. You’ve been here. HOW HAVE YOU BEEN HERE?! In all your years at Icarus you had never stepped foot on this floor, in this vault and yet you KNEW this was what it was supposed to look like.

HOW?! HOW?!

Your head throbs as phantom memories and sensations ripple through your mind. Your mind is pulled in a dozen directions as it attempts to make sense of it all. You know the full puzzle but not what it shows, however all rational thought ends when you see what sits in the center of the room.

A single large, Grand Mirror.

You were certain that it wasn’t what was kept in the Vault, it was something else, something important. So why a mirror? Why was there a Mirror here.

You slow, Time slows, everything seems to slow as you walk towards the mirror. There is no dust, no tarnish, nothing. It is, as far as you can imagine a perfectly normal mirror. However when you look into it you see.

Nothing.

What? How could that be, it’s a mirror it should reflect whatever it-

That’s when you see it. You see the reflection and horror slips into your very being.

Your Reflection is there, but only half of it; Right from your nose, your torso, all of it. However it isn’t a clean split, rather it looks like it was ripped away; But it’s only a reflection right? Right?!

The hell is happening to you?

The horror however only grows once you realize that the mirror isn’t simply a sheer silver, but in fact tinted.

Tinted with Jade.

When this realization slams home however your reflection changes again, but what looks back at you isn’t you. It’s like a trick of the eye, a spectre to be sure; It has no color, no light, no form. It is a shadow that lives within the mirror before you, there’s no way it can do anything to hurt you, right?

Even as you say that however, it’s hands begin to push through the mirror and grip the edges and all reality begins to melt around you.

You stumble back before running headlong for the door. You have to get to the passage you had come through before, you had to seal the shadow in this place and never let it out. But you are too slow and by the time you begin to push the door, The Spectre’s hand is already going to push through the crack. Instead of staying to find out you run for the elevator shaft. You don’t even care to deal with waiting for it to open as you punch straight through the door and scramble for the light, for salvation ahead.

You can hear your heart racing in your ears as you grab onto the rope and aim Ariadne at the ground beneath you. Firing her the recoil sends you shooting up the shaft, and every time you slow you simply fire again. You don’t care if you’re wasting ammunition, maybe the shots will bury the thing down there. You don’t care to find out. Bursting out into the main lobby you run for the outside of the building only to freeze in your tracks.

It’s there, right in front of you, BUT HOW?!

It doesn’t even make a sound as it stands there, empty handed and towering over you. It’s clear now that wherever you go it will follow, like a shadow chasing the real world. The only option left was to fight.

If it wanted a fight, you’ll give it one.

You charge the Apparition and just as you reach it leap above it, firing shot after shot after shot into it from above before coming straight down with a devastating slash. As the dust clears however the pockmarked crater is the only sign that you had even attacked it, as otherwise it looked entirely unphased. You fear a counter attack but you discover that it moves without coordination or speed; Rather sluggish in comparison to the speed it must have had to arrive before you. While it makes it easy to avoid it’s attacks you can’t help but feel frustrated that any normal attack you use against it amounts to cutting through air.

Firing again you create some space between you and The Spectre. It was time to come up with a new battle plan.

Perhaps you can cut it with your Semblance, after all it is a golden light in comparison to the darkness. That’s gotta mean something, right?

Time to find out.

You charge the shadow, and with your blade glowing gold you give out a roar only to watch as the shadow before you begins to bend and twist like mist in the morn. As you cut you only manage to hit air and yet the shadow appears before you, right inside your guard. Before you can even stop it the shadows hand rakes across your face, and a splash of ice and fire hits your nerves.

Your right eye is now blinded by the ichor of your own life blood, yet you do not feel pain. Why don’t you feel pain?

Before you can ponder this life mystery however the blockage is gone and you see that the shadow has surged back and now stands in the middle of the clearance. Around it the blood from your impact coagulates and rotates around it like a serpent, and you realize that it is still drawing from you and your open wounds. Quickly pulsing your semblance you force the cuts to become like carbon. It will be a bitch to deal with later, but at least you aren’t allowing whatever the shadow is doing to continue.

That is when you hear the slight rumble and crackle, a sickening gurgling noise as the blood around the scourge pours into it. Before your shocked and horrified eyes it begins to mutate and twist, armored plates and solid form in comparison to its once ghostly apparition. Before you can even move to attack it The new beast bends down and picks up something.

Your heart freezes.

It’s your arms. No, not the metallic ones that still sat comfortably in your shoulders but your actual REAL arms. There was no mistaking them, even as skeletal remains; As there was no other skeleton around it to have them come from. But the sickening parody is not yet over, as the arms straighten and wrists touch, hands splaying opposite one another and with a sound akin to tearing flesh blood and sinew bursts from the creature's arm.

At first you are unsure of what it is that it is doing but by the end it is clear: A great, bulky sword of gristle, bone and vore. You fire at the beast, hoping to destroy the sick parody of man before it is too late but in a blur it leaps straight up, perching itself above you on the spire of a long destroyed home; The Glowing red moon behind it.

You fire a trio of rounds as fast as Ariadne can spit out, only for the new Knight to leap away, coming crashing down at you with a spinning downward slash. You’re barely able to get Ariadne up in time to block the strike. The blow is staggering as you are forced to a knee from the sheer impact and you grit your teeth to push back enough to keep your opponent from towering over you. Pushing the shaft towards the knight you attempt to bash it in the torso with the pommel only for it to bend backwards at an unnatural angle.

Swinging back around you have to roll to the side as the Knights massive blade cleaves as it twists back around. You feel the breeze brush against your back as its great momentum and weight passes over you. Getting to your feet you use your axe more akin as a spear, stabbing and poking at the Knight; Managing to at least put it on the back foot before it spins and knocks Ariadne free from your grip.

Refusing to be kept off guard you charge, your metallic arm slamming the blade aside before slamming the other into the head of the beast, seeing the faint red of the eyes within. Before you can continue the assault the beast presses a foot to your knee and pushes off, launching it back and away from you. You’re barely able to pull your arms in to protect your face from the blade as it grinds against your limbs. With the space created you make a mad dash for Ariadne and with her haft once again in your hands you swing the blade to keep the beast back.

As you swing the blade you squeeze the trigger, launching a shell dead center of the Knights chest. In the resulting explosion it slides back, but remains standing; Smoke beginning to emanate from the cracks within its armor.

Firing again the beast jerks away before rushing at you, leaving you to meet its charge. This time however you manage to catch the beasts blade, scraping and screeching against one another. Planting the haft on the ground you squeeze the trigger, during the haft before ducking beneath the swipe and tackling the beast to the ground. You hammer blow the helm of the Knight, before the beast grabs your shirt and tears you off of it. As you begin to get to your feet the beast plants its blade in the dirt and pins you the ground.
You aren’t dead yet but things aren’t looking great.

You try to struggle but the Knight is vicious in its machinations, and you scream as its clawed fingers stab into your joints where the shoulders met the torso; Tearing through circuitry and artificial nerves. You are stuck there, helpless on your back at the mercy of the beast. However you would soon come to realize that your nightmare is far from over.

You watch with a sickening fascination as the Knight above you begins to twitch and writhe, its chestplate, helmet and body beginning to peel open and you realize in horror what the beast plans to do. With the sound of creaking metal the entirety of its body begins to twist and contort before slinking around you. Your screams now muffled by the metal around your face. A wet, sickening warmth begins to spread from your shoulders and to your fingers.

The feeling of flesh, of nerves and skin.

You desperately struggle within the beast but you feel it. Something sinking into your very being, something dark, something oily and corrupt; sapping away the will and strength to fight whatever machinations it has in store. All sense of self leaves you and as your reality becomes warped and transposed by whatever it is that you are being consumed on you you realize the dark truth.

You enjoy it, you enjoy whatever darkness now fills your very being. Not for it being something you had only just experienced, but because it had always been a part of you. Despair, hopelessness, dread. These feelings you had always fought for so long now filled your veins with stabbing pangs of icy disdain, and you had never felt so complete.

You let go.

>Things are strange and twisted in the Looking Glass, for that which was once broken is complete, and what was once complete is broken. The lines between man and beast fade, for if in innocence lies within a simple soul; It is without such soul, without such innocence that one may find darkness. For as one fights fire with fire, one must fight beasts with beasts. And there is no more deadly a beast than that of Man. - Vetruvian Faust.

It's a semi-nightmare
>>
>>1860685
with the amount of negative modifers the qm keeps giving the mc i would classify this quest as an actually nightmare, cause seriously, with how bad and how often the qm gives them, it feels as if he wants the mc to lose constantly to the point where it feels like railroading. A negative 50 modifer, you only give that shit out when you want the story to go your way as the qm

So..how about this?

Instead of juding the quest on a very small portion (In a very important moment no less) Why not look at the other fights and moments that the quest has had and realize that there is a reason the fight is hard.

Don't judge a story by the chapter you choose at random, my friend
>>
>>1860698
Well, this was always going to happen. He said the only thing we could acomplish is postponing and pushing this back. The Scourge apparently had to take over for story reasons.

>>
>>1860719
even without context i know pretty well you shouldn't do that , if you are gonna make a fight impossible to win unless in theory we have to roll nat 100 multible times, don't make it an option to roll and just have 1 longer post and let the people saved the bank crit
>>
>>1860727
We could've saved the banked crit, we had the option.
But we'd have had to take the nat 1.
Which might've killed/crippled us
>>
>>1860727

What did I say fucker? You've lost this argument already, or are you actual Sisyphus? Go back to trying to roll that boulder up the hill you ignorant cunt
>>
Ya know, just because he's acting like a buttmad autist doesn't mean he doesn't kind of have a point. The hand of the QM has been getting a little too obvious lately.

Inb4 someone meme arrows me I'm reading at JFK, because real life demands it.
>>
>>1860732
The qm pretty much said we were gonna fail this shit anyways, so why the fuck would we waste a crit on an encounter that we have no chance of winning, if this is a story driven fight then in reality he cant kill the mc cause he has a set outcome for the encounter, meaning if we lost the fight he was probably already planning on crippling/killing the mc
>>
>>1860744
Yes and no.
We WERE supposed to lose, but the exact consequences are not set in stone.
We put up a solid fight so maybe we get off "light" or at least as light as can be expected given that we just unleashed our literal inner demons.
If we kept that nat1 we might've actually done something that we couldn't recover from, I.E. kill or maim someone while we are under the effects of the berserker armor.
>>
>>1860738
I do see your point, but literally none of this would have happened without a very specific chain of choices.

Had to go red eyed, then shut down. Then had to go into the ruins, into the basement, unlock the vault, step INTO the vault, and had to stare at a mirror.

It is indeed by the QMs hand that this event would happen, but from my perspective, the anon voted for this event to happen waaay earlier than scheduled. I mean, the first set of missions haven't even happened.
>>
>>1860756
Little bit of behind the scenes stuff, this was supposed to happen sometime during Vol.2
>>
>>1860756
When was the last time in this session where we were offered a meaningful choice? Four hours since there was any choice at all, and before that it was wandering around idly until we triggered the encounter.

All QMs keep things on a rail to some degree, but there hasn't even been an illusion of choice for a while now.
>>
>>1860759
See, this time frame makes more sense than now. We haven't even really begun and we're already a demon. I really do wish this didn't happen until later when we have better and stronger bonds with the CADRE, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
>>
>>1860764
He did give us a lot of options to back out and avoid the vault.
>>
>>1860765
Roses are red, violets are blue

And so are you
>>
>>1860764
Not shutting down, going to the ruins, basement, or vault all would have avoided this.
>>
>>1860776
question, do you think the qm hasn't set up multiple situations where the mc going dark ( i mean shit that last bit read something straight out of wattpad)? For all we know the guy could have set up so even if we didn't get this encounter there is another which would have done the same thing
>>
>>1860775
I'm sorry you feel that way, anon, but a mediocre poem won't change my opinion.

You awake with a start, the dull sound of an EKG rapidly picking up speed as you awake. Before you can even register anything else a hand is put on your shoulder. Looking up you see the concerned and bespectacled face of Bartholomew Oobleck. You don’t even realize that tears are streaking down your face.

“M-Mr.O...w..what...what is happening to me?” You ask him, shaking. No more are you the strong and powerful Lucius Ferrum, you’re vulnerable and afraid and trembling in a hospital bed who knows where for who knows what reason. You are trying desperately to forget the nightmare you had, but you know it isn’t such a thing. You can still feel the phantom stinging from the claws against your face and you shudder to think of what’s been happening to you.

“You’re alright, Lucius, I promise.” He says, far quieter than you had heard the man speak for some time. “It was a bad dream, a bad reaction i’m sure.” He assures you but you look at him.

“ALRIGHT?!” You shout, shaking as your hysteria explodes to the surface “That wasn’t alright, O. What happened?! What WAS that.” You ask him, your words jumbling as you attempt to make sense of the nightmare you had just lived through. Your chest heaves as you begin to hyperventilate.

Mr.O is ashen faced as he sees you panicking, clearly unsure of what you mean. If you were in a rational state of mind you might have understood this but right now? Right now you’re on the edge of your proverbial chain.

“Lucius I..”

“Don’t you DARE!” You Interrupt, trembling. “THAT wasn’t a dream! THAT something all too real and you know EXACTLY what it was. So spit it out.” You say, arms twitching.

You’ve never been so angry in all your life, you’ve never quite felt such absolute mixes of fear, anger and downright uncertainty in all your life.

>What do you do?
>A. Attempt to reign in...whatever is happening to you.

I lurked that, nothing he said was him apologizing for rape. Just someone obviously tired and confused wondering why he was getting dogpiled for using a word differently. I can back him up, we use struggle snuggle there in a different context. Usually involving fluffy bird people sitting on your back. I could probably go back and even link him saying he doesn't support rape. The rest of those post were him defending himself from a misunderstood smut prompt that wasn't meant to be taken as rape. But this is neither here nor there. Back to fights with colorful school girls with big guns, and the PTSD (maybe Grimm experiment) boy with metal arms.

Your heart is pounding as you refuse yourself precious oxygen, forcing yourself to slow your thoughts; As rampant as they are, you manage to after a long moment to get back to some semblance of calm. You still feel that you’re on the teetering edge of anger, but you at least feel like you can talk at a normal volume.

By the time you manage to bring yourself to look at the man you’re with he’s been joined by Ozpin. You don’t know how to think of with the man, not because of anything nefarious he was simply an enigma. “Good afternoon, Mr. Ferrum.” He says, the same small smile he’s always had.
“Afternoon, Sir?” You ask, only to see him nod.

“Yes, it was quite the task to find you, you know? Miss Rose was quite terrified to see you rush off into the night. Your whole team was.” He says, leaning against his cane as he does so. “We only found you in the early morning in the forever woods. Quite an achievement, considering the distance.” He comments.

You mull this thought over,so it's an afternoon; This put you at some point beyond the evening your had been at when...everything started.

After a moment you look to Oobleck, hoping for any kind of reassurance but you find none. The man is telling you the complete truth; You had somehow managed to run from Beacon to the Forever Fall in a little over twelve hours. That was impressive, given the fact that it meant you had managed to get from Beacon, to the outer walls of Vale, beyond them and then straight to the closest nest of Grimm in the area.

“How you managed it we aren’t quite sure but one thing is certain. Your mission to clear out the forrest won’t be an issue this week; As it appears whatever you DID do has managed to force the Grimm to either flee, or you managed to deal with them. The problem however is that your physical condition is rather ruined; Aside from severe dehydration and lactic acid buildup you also have minor cracks in your legs and ribs, which will take a few days to at least get to a managle point” He tells you, gesturing to the medical room around you.

“As for your friends, considering you’re awake we’ll inform them of your condition if you so choose. Though the choice remains yours. Any questions?” He asks

You shake your head, however you change your mind and speak up “If...if you could sir, I think Khrone should see me when possible; The rest of the cadre can come once that is done.” You say, though your voice is far weaker than it had been when the fire of anger swept through your mind.

Ozpin seems to reflect for a moment and nods. “Professor Oobleck will stay with you until Miss Goodwitch arrives; Have no worries, she is not aware of just WHAT happened, but I believe that speaking to her would be to your benefit. Just keep an open mind.” he tells you and without another word he walks away, the slight tapping of his cane being the only other noise he makes.

As he closes the door you’re startled by the feeling of Ooblecks hand on your leg. Turning to look at the man he gives you a pained smile.

“I had hoped that these night terrors were behind us, just as you probably wished they never began.” He starts, flinching slightly.

“I’m sorry.”

You want to say something, but it seems that whatever has been plaguing you is something that the man is aware of.

“I should have been a better instructor I could have stopped what’s happening long before it got to hell.” He says, running a hand through his unkempt hair. “I did try, your parents tried by Faust...the damn Director wanted to see what would happen.”

You had never seen the man torn up like this; Just what was it that had happened that had to do with your...trip? Experience? You weren’t sure of what it was exactly, but you decided to speak up.

“What do you mean? Faust? What happened? I don’t remember anything of the sort happening. I don’t even remember leaving Beacon, The last thing I remember was Ruby and then….here.” You admit.

This surprises Mr O, but only in his face. His mannerisms and worries are still evident in the rest of his body, and after a pause he looks down, before finally giving a weak smile. “I suppose that is good, at least; Things are better than I had thought.”

You want to push for more, however there is a knock at the door and realizing it is Glynda Mr.O frowns.

“If you want to talk to me about this later, don’t hesitate to do so. You know where my office is.” He tells you.

“I will.” You assure him, which brings a smile to his face as he opens the door, letting the feminine professor enter the room before closing it behind me.

“I won’t lie, Mr. Ferrum; I had not expected to find one of my students in the Forever Fall on the third day of school no less.” She says, stern as ever. However as she takes a seat her features soften, and the same look of concern she had given you earlier the day (Days?) before. “I was not informed of what exactly it is that caused the sudden desire to flee the campus, nor why exactly Ozpin is allowing you to stay.” The words lack any amount of comfort, in stark contrast to her features it feels almost as if she’s wishing you would be expelled for your little trip.

A trip you had not wanted.

“However, I was also told that whatever caused it was a rather traumatic experience; And so I decided I would come and have a...little chat. While all of us are trained to deal with both children here as huntsmen and as human beings, I am what would be considered the ‘school’s psychologist.’ as it were.” She reiterates, folding her arms across her chest.

“I know that i’m not usually considered a ‘kind’ or ‘approachable’ teacher by many of the students, but I know sometimes it’s better that such things are aired out than bottling them up. So, with that said...Feel free to hit me with it.”

option B is tell about the dream thingy probably icarus included for context. HOW was that hard to understand?

How?

But b only days we tell her the dream stuff. Not the Icarus stuff. Sounds like we would be diffusing the question with maybe some sudo nightmare that could be anything. But the Icarus information would be a separate deal

Probably the everything part. If it wasn't the we remember the kiss part, it would be a little more clear cut in the option.
>>

I was misreading the last session, I thought it was us unrepressing memories from whatever Icarus did to us rather than it being us seeing the icarus site as it is now.
That's why I thought A was us telling Glynda that we thought it was unrepressed memories while B is us telling her we thought it was just a nightmare.

Ya'll fuckers do realize that Miss Goodwitch wouldn't tell others about the kiss, right? Psychiatrists have this thing called 'Patient Confidentiality', which means they don't talk about what the patient tells them while they are doing a session. Not to mention she's a teacher too, so it's also another obligation to not blab about what we say to her

Yang wouldn't learn about it from Goodwitch. If anything, she'd learn it from Ruby's tongue slipping during regular conversation.

I know this stuff is private, but I suspect that it's no longer confidential (and even if it is, the beacon staff is used to secrets). Plus, it might be important for someone with absolutely no involvement with Icarus to know what's going on.

After a few quiet moments of just staring at the woman you sigh and begin to sit up, wincing at the pain in your chest. For a moment she looks as if she’s going to attempt to stop you but you wave your hand to dissuade her. Turning to face her you decide that it would be best to focus on the events you had gone through over the more ‘real’ issues.

However even saying that was a gross understatement; As it was clear to you from the fact that your chest was currently on fire that your dream was more real than you could understand.

And so you speak to the woman before you, of waking up in the fields outside of a ruined City (You refuse to tell her it is Icarus out of habit) and finding a tower of stone. You tell her of the corpses and skeletons, of the vault deep in the basement of the tower. You go to continue but you feel flashes of it, that cold terror at just what you ended up seeing in the mirror.

After a slight gasp you go on. You tell her about the phantasm you encountered, the strangeness of the mirror and what finally pushed you back to being awake: Being ‘eaten’ by the creature.

She’s quiet for awhile, but not because she’s stunned as far as you’re aware.”I see...i’ve seen cases like this before, but only in far older huntsmen. While I cannot shed light on exactly what it is that has manifested in your mind I can tell you this. What you’re suffering from, as far as I am aware, is a form a trauma; Typically called ‘Post Traumatic Stress Disorder’ it is more commonly known by huntsmen as ‘Grimm Haunt’.” She says “This is due to the fact that the darker emotions continue to draw grimm. The worse it gets, the more Grimm; The stronger the Grimm.”

“Is...is it permanent?” You ask her.

“Not quite, over time you can come to terms with the issues that plague you; Whatever they might be. However to overcome it will require something you’ve already started to find: Friends, people to care about and in term care for you.” She says softly.

Hearing this you can’t help but think of:

You close your eyes and think of the people in your recent life. While Khrone naturally comes to mind, so does Yang, and Ruby, and Jaune, and Pyrrha; Others such as Cardin to an extent were also there, but the fact that you had such people. If you were honest with yourself it was a radical change of pace for you, especially given the ki-

No, we’ll deal with that social nightmare later.

The point stood regardless. You had people who were at the least acquaintances in your Cadre, and at most friends. That thought fills you both with a sense of hope and dread. Hope, in that you had people who hopefully would help keep the darkness that tainted your soul at bay; But despair in that should they ever find out...what would they think of you?

What would they think knowing you were a literal Grimm magnet?

Whatever that might be however you push to the side, and instead focus on the conversation you have with Goodwitch. You’re as close to the chest as you’ve always been, but to have someone you can open up to about the strangeness of the dream fills you with a comfort of sort. Before you know it, there’s a knock at the door and the silver mop of hair that is Khrone peaks in.

“Uh...Miss Goodwitch I was told to come he- Lucy.” He rambles, having interrupted his own words at the sight of you.

You give him a playful smile “I was starting to think you forgot about me, buddy.”

He snorts, stepping into the room as Goodwitch has the foresight to silently excuse yourself “You still owe me for that beowulf that caught you off guard a few years ago.” He returns in jest, though the moment the professor leaves his mannerisms change.

“What happened.” He says. It isn’t a question, it’s a demand.

It all comes out of you, the morning with Yang (He’s surprised that you had seen the girl bare but saves his barbs for later) both the teasing that had gone too far but also the tender moment between you. From there it goes to the kiss, the kiss that still haunted you with the taste of vanilla now bitter thanks to the events that came afterward; To the nightmare at Icarus. The vault ,the Phantom, the Knight.

What it did to you.

By the time you finish with where you are now and where you had been you are unsure of just what is running through his head. When he finally speaks up however you can’t help but laugh.

“Teach me.”

“Khrone! I don’t WANT this whole scenario I just wanted a no-”

He silences you in a hug, one you had not expected from the usually sarcastic teen. Even as you wince from the slight pang of pain in your chest you return the gesture. “We were worried, you know...all of us.” He says quietly “Ruby came in screaming that you were running away and by the time you were all dressed you were...gone.” He continues to say “The whole cadre was jumpy and yet last night a bullhead comes back with Ozpin, Port, Oobleck and some strange looking guy; Looked like they dragged him straight out of a bar. Closing your eyes you flex your mental muscles, only to meet the same foggy haze as one might find when trying to recall a dream. However this dream was a waking nightmare and after pushing farther and harder you begin to get flashes, brief moments of insight as to what occurred. Flashes of trees and leaves, all manner of Grimm and probably the most bizarre image.

A Beowulf.

This wouldn’t be strange to you except for the fact that the usual, tell-tale crimson and red of Grimm had been replaced with a dull, glowing green. What had caused this you don’t know, and before you can continue to ponder your mental image is rocked forward and ‘turning’ you see the four individuals Khrone had described to you. You wince as a spike of rage fills your mind, and the flashes become faster.

The sound of battle, blades meeting blades, the smell of cordite and the howling of Grimm.

You relay this to Khrone, who seems to digest it far longer than yourself. When he finally speaks up his voice is filled with worry. “I don’t think that Goodwitch is aware of that...of just what exactly happened. Do you want me to ask Mr.O about it, since you’re still cooped up in here?” He asks

You quickly type out that you’re in the medical ward of the school, however she doesn’t respond immediately. You have no idea exactly how to react, and after a few moments and short ‘are you there?’ messages you go to look over the other messages, you hear a knock on the window. Through the pulled curtains you see a brief flash of blonde hair.

There’s no way...she didn’t.

“Hey, Tin Man, lemme in.” The muffled voice of Yang Xaio Long says, tapping on the glass.

>You’ve got to be kidding me, right?

Does anyone have that pic of the monstergirl tapping on the glass saying let me in? Because this is the only thing I am imagining, her tits rubbing on the window and everything, her eyes giving you the sad puppy look. Right before she kills us.

You can’t even begin to wrap your head around the crazy antics of the girl but sigh, taking the few seconds to get back to a standing position. You wince as your chest has pins of pain stabbing into your chest, waiting for it to subside before you attempt getting to your feet, er; Foot.

You bite back a grunt as you finally get to shaky feet and with a quick lunge to the windowsill you unlock the window and grip the sill with one hand and push it open.

Yang is quick to slip in, thought her outfit has changed rather significantly. Instead of her usual midriff, spats and jacket is instead replaced with a plaid skirt and suit jacket, complete with frilled shirt.

Before you can even say hello your bad leg, already shaking without the brace, gives out and you collapse; Or you would have had Yang not caught you. Pain explodes in all of your still-human parts as your injuries are jostled, but your strangled moan of pain is cut short by the blonde bomber moving you back to bed.

As you slowly wheeze and push the pins of pain back you finally look at your partner.

As excited as she must be, her pent up anxiety and fear is evident. You can see the slight glint of tears in her eyes however you are almost certain they were from the wind outside your window. There is no way that she was so concerned, you weren’t dead and if anything you’d think she’s angry.

You decide to remain quiet, mostly out of being unsure of what to say to the woman who had quite literally come in through your window. You hadn’t expected the girl to show up unannounced and all. The mental discussion to yourself however is cut short by her pressing you back into the mattress, her arms slipping beneath yours and around your back. It isn’t the usual strong hug you’ve been given by the girl; Instead being gentle, her forearms actually managing to keep her body weight off your clearly wounded frame.

The smell of lavender fills your senses as her hair bunches, her head hiding in the crook of your neck.

“Don’t do that again, please don’t do that again.” She says, her voice shaky as you hear the slight gasps of barely restrained tears. You have no idea of what it is that she is referring to, but you wrap your arms around her, cradling her as best as your wounded frame can manage.

“I won’t.” You promise quietly, unsure of how how to handle it.

You feel the girl shift as she props herself up to look at you in the eye.
“What happened?” She asks.

You inform her about the fact that you had apparently managed to get to the Forever Fall, that you were apparently in horrible medical shape (at this she goes to get off of you, but you continue to hold her as you find comfort in her embrace). When she asks for a list of injuries you hesitate before finally telling her the extent, physical, mental and emotional.

It’s clear from her lack of recognition that she had never really dealt with such things, and for a time you figure she’s just going to accept it and move on.

“How do I help?.”

See, just like that she’s moving o-

Wait, What?

It catches you off guard, and it shows in the surprise in your voice. “W-what?”

“How do I help?” She says again.

You lay there, stunned by this question. You honestly had never expected her to be open to actually dealing with it beside you. Compared to Ruby, you were an absolute outsider; A stranger who was forced to be with her for four years. Why would she care? I mean sure you had your moment the morning before your little ‘adventure’ but that didn’t justify the willingness to deal with someone who was, is, and would always be broken.

>What do you say/do?
>A. Try and answer but be honest, you have no idea how to help.

You go to speak but the thoughts in the back of your head, once quiet and obedient begin to rise up. There is no lack of coincidence in that after seeing both Khrone and Miss Goodwitch were the last people who had seen you, and that this being the last period of the day was a class that both of them presided in. The thought alone stokes a feeling of paranoia and agitation in you, one that you know that you’d never have before your recent...weakness.

“Why do you care?” You say, your voice seething in barely restrained anger. The sound of your voice feels off, more tinged with anger and with an unmistakable animalistic growl underlying it.

“Why would I not?” She replies, her eyes locking with yours in challenge. You see her flinch ever so slightly, and looking into the pale reflection of her own violet orbs you see why.

The same effect that you had seen so predominantly before your lapse to unconsciousness had returned, though far weaker than it had been. Instead of fully enveloped crimson your jade eyes were instead flaked with the deep red, flecks of gold gnawing at the red.

“Because why would you? Why would ANY of you.” You snarl, however for all your anger and spite you are locked in place beneath her. “I’m a freak, I’ve always been a freak and you know what? After this? After everything that’s happened in the last few days, its proof.” You say, your voice getting louder and louder.

“I’m a monster!” You say finally.

You are not prepared for the sudden sharp sting in your face, though it registers after the fact that the girl had, in fact, slapped you.

For a split moment your rage boils over but looking back into Yang’s own crimson eyes you realize that you’re beginning to lose yourself and after a few deep (albeit difficult and painful) breaths you look up at her. Gone is the boiling and aching rage, but it’s place is a hollow and aching fear; Your usual jade once more dominating your eyes.

Finally you’re able to move, but you go instead to grab at your head, desperately trying to ignore the sudden torrent of fear, pain and dredged up memories. Yet for as much as you struggle to compose yourself you find yourself crumbling.

“I..I” You feebly murmur, the strength sapped from your bones as whatever dark mood had overtaken you had just as quickly fled.

Yang for a moment says nothing, and you fear to look back up and see those red eyes; Partly out of reflecting your own transformation of late, but also the fact that it was those crimson orbs that you remembered most when she had taken your limbs.
The limbs that now gripped desperately at your head. The BARE limbs that gripped at your head.

After what feels like an eternity you feel a warmth against your balled fists, softer and far more gentle than your mechanical and unfeeling ones. You realize it is her hands, her thumbs trailing gentle circles along the polished exteriors.

“Relax...relax…” she says quietly, leaning her forehead against your fingers. “I’m not going to hurt you, Lucius, you’re okay...you’re okay.” She murmurs, her hands sliding from your still balled fists to your hands.

As the seconds bleed into minutes you relax into her words and touch, and finally your arms slump away from your face and hair; Her red eyes gone and replaced with the usual Lilac.

“There...Better?” She asks quietly.

“Better? Better?!” You shout, going from blinding rage to hysteric, choked gasps “I never asked for this, Yang. I never asked to be...this.” You say jerking your head to your metallic limbs, suddenly repulsed by the strangeness dull metal that had been so familiar to you. “I grew up on so many stories of huntsmen and heroes! And look at what it got me!”

You had never thought you’d have these thoughts surface, but after everything you had endured in the last week it was all rising to the surface. Before you can even continue the blonde pulls you into an embrace, your face pressed into the girl's shoulder. You can’t even hear whatever words she tells you as your words devolve into incoherent ramblings, interrupted only by your own tears.

While you do manage to control your breaths after a minute however the shaky whimpers persist. Considering the calm however you finally manage to make sense of what Yang is saying and doing. While it isn’t anything coherent, they are just simple sounds; Gentle cooing and humming in an attempt to calm you further.

You grip to the jacket of her uniform, doing everything in your power not to return to the driving mess you had been.

You would reflect later that you had no idea exactly why you were a mess, as when you had spoken to Goodwitch not even two hours prior you were far more composed. Even with Khrone you had been far more together. What had changed? Was it the fact that she was an outsider in comparison to Khrone? Was it because she was just a caring person just as Goodwitch had told you that you’d find? Was it something more?

You have no idea.

So you sit there, a shaky whimpering mess in her embrace. Though she doesn’t ask you begin to regale her with your history; About Icarus and your first encounters with Khrone, The Fall and the years spent wandering the wilds. As you go on you feel yourself grow weary, worn down as the weight of your melancholic burden laid bare before her.

You feel your mind sinking into a fog, and for a moment you fear what you’ll see if you follow the fog. However that fear is slowly drowned in the low soft tones of the blond and the feeling of her hands slowly running through your auburn locks you drift into further and further into the fog, your breath finally slowing and your sobs little more than slight jumps in your throat. Her voice grows distant, as does everything as you fall into a deep, dreamless sleep.

You don’t know when you at first wake up, the door clicking open or the slight gust of movement as the curtains ruffle; Given that you hadn’t even realized you had fallen asleep you move to look at whoever entered when your chest explodes in pain. Instead of an actual coherent sentence you end up letting out a groan.

“Oh shoot!” You hear a soft voice say, before you feel a cool hand on your chest and pushing you back down.

Finally cracking your eyes open you see the red and black hair of Ruby Rose; Her red hood hanging around the shoulders of her jacket.

You mumble, slowly adjusting to the lack of light as you attempt to sit up again; The pain at least manageable this time.

“Ruby...what time is it?” You manage, bringing your hands up to get the sand out of them.

“Oh, it's uh..about two in the morning.” She says, as if it were the most common thing in the world for her to be here, and awake at such an hour.

You're about to shout out in surprise when she clamps her mouth over your lips. ‘Shh’ing you as she does so.

“Keep it quiet, we’ve got a whole plan figured out.” She says to you, smiling wide before unfolding her scythe and bracing it against the floor, the blade pushed beneath the desk beside your cot.

“We?” You ask, muffled through her hand. “What do you mean We? Where’s Yang...she was here earlier.”

The petite girl gives you a giggle and you feel your heart tighten, remembering the last moment you had shared with the girl.

“She told me, you were out like a baby.” She says with a smile before ripping the blanket off of you. You try to grab your sheet back but instead she balls it up and sets it off beside her scythe.

“Your clothes are in the bathroom.” She says matter-of factly before tapping her boot against something beside the bed. “And I've got your brace. Come on, get dressed!” She urges quietly.

“Give me a good reason.” You mutter, however you’re already complying and getting up as quick as your pained body will allow.

“It’s simple, we’re busting you out of here.” The girl says, tying the blanket to her Scythe before peeling the sheets off and repeating the process to the blanket before throwing it out the window.

“Come on, get dressed.” She insists again as you set your foot into the brace and limp to the bathroom in the corner of the room.

It takes you awhile to get your pants and shirt on (given that your ribs are still on fire, though your Aura is doing what it can to reduce the pain) however by the time you do, three more individuals have entered the room; A fourth still pulling themselves in the window.

Before Nora can even say anything Ren slaps his hand over his mouth, nodding to you as Pyrrha simply gives you a smile before turning and helping Pull Jaune in. You aren’t quite sure what to think of the whole group of Huntsmen and Huntresses that had apparently broken into your medical room in order to, as ruby had put it ‘bust you out’. All while you’re processing this Ruby is bunching up a spare pillow she had grabbed before tossing it onto your pillow, the spare blanket being thrown on top.

“Perfect!” She cheers quietly before looking to you.

“So, ready to head down?” She says, joinging the group of smiling faces before you.

You aren’t but given that Ruby and Co had broken into your room you had a feeling they would not let you simply go. Sighing you nod and before you can even attempt to fight it, Nora throws you onto her back and with a quiet call of “Adventure!” She scrambles out of the window, with you having to hold on as she scales down the impromptu rope. Before you can even question how you’ll get to the ground (The sheets were in no way long enough to reach) when the white of the sheets is instead replaced with some form of black rope.

Looking down you see why.

Blake Belladonna, her sword planted into the the dirt with its cable hooked around the sheet. She looks sheepish and gives a wave as Nora sets you down, the rest of your little group coming down one by one behind you. Last of course is Ruby who leaps from the window after pulling the rope back up, with Nora catching the teen before she hits the ground.

“Alright, piece of cake. Now to the forest.” she instructs, everyone around you looking and nodding in agreement. Even Jaune is determined, though you can see the nerves in his face.

While everyone else stays low to the ground you really don’t have much ability to follow suit, with the fact that most of your body is still messed up from your unconscious joyride. So you do your best to stay with the group of excited teens, limping a few paces behind them. Ren stays beside you, though something tells you he’s there more to help you in case any of the teachers were to catch you; You’re lucky however and soon enough you reach the woods behind the campus and in the distance you see a dull light in the distance.

As you continue through the woods the group bundles together, the bitter cold of the autumn evening clinging to all of you. “You’ll like this, I promise” Pyrrha says quietly to your side. Considering you had been woken from sleep had not eaten and had been carried away into the woods, you had your doubts. Though once you arrive you are thoroughly surprised.

Camped out with tents, sleeping bags and all is the entirety of your Cadre.
They even managed to somehow abscond with a few desks from the school and had somehow managed to obtain some basic cooking materials, including a griddle. Nora immediately jumps on this fact and drags Ren to the griddle, insisting that it was time for pancakes (while your scroll in fact read 2:30 A.M)

Pyrrha and Jaune (Though it is more that Jaune you are certain) quickly move to the logs situated around the impromptu fire pit, warming themselves by the fire. All and all however you’re still absolutely shocked at the group.

“What is all this?” You say quietly, looking down at Ruby.

She smiled, and slipped her hand gently into your own; At first you could feel the cold in the smaller girl's fingers, but after a moment the warmth returns. “Well, when Yang and Khrone came and told us you had woken up.” She starts before getting up on her toes to lean in and say more quietly “And that you had fallen asleep and had a rough wake up; Yang, Khrone and I thought we should throw something together.”

It’s honestly touching and you smile a weak, genuine smile before letting her take you along with her to the series of logs that had been put around the impromptu firepit. Wincing as you take a seat Yang is quick to settle in on one side the Red Reaper is quick to take the other side.

“Glad you could join us, Tin-Man.” The Blonde says, giving you a smirk.

“Want a Kiss?” She asks, her grin widening.

You look at her strangely for a moment, and you can see out of the corner of your eye that Ruby is holding back a giggle, her eyes reflecting the orange glow of the fire. Though your brain goes in six different directions you decide to nod in affirmative, not quite trusting your voice.

“Alright then, close your eyes.” She tells you, and you comply after a few moments of hesitation.

After a few seconds of silence (compared to the girl at least, the crackle of the fire and the sound of something sizzling on the griddle were still present) you feel something press gently against your lips. At first you aren't certain of what to do but as the pressure gains you part your lips and a second later you feel the tip of a finger against your upper lip. It is quickly evident that it is not the blonde's lips (as part of you wished it would be) but in fact something else.

Whatever it is, it is sweet and after even a few seconds in your mouth begins to melt from a harder texture to that of a slightly liquid form. You savor it, flicking your tongue out to catch what little of it that had missed.

After swallowing the treat you open your eyes, and you see the smile on Yang’s face; In her hand a small foil wrapper.

“I hadn't had a kiss like that before…” you murmur before smiling.

“Easy lady killer, keep that up and there’ll be more where that came from.”

You laugh.

After the laughter had died down, you finally ask them what it was. After a confused pause they explain that it was a chocolate kiss, a simple confectionary that was common in the kingdoms. When you admit your lack of experience with such things (Khrone and yourself had rarely stopped in major settlements and so never bothered to splurge on luxuries like sugar) the girls look at one another and Ruby practically vibrates.

“Yyyyaaannnnggg we gotta! We gotta now!” She pleads, clapping her hands together.

You have no idea what they are on about but Yang takes on a contemplative face. “Now Ruby, normally I wouldn't condone such childish behavior.” She says with a pause, with Ruby giving a large pout in response “However this is an exemption, and I will make such an exemption.” She finishes, pulling out a smallish blue box and a bag filled with white...things.

With a cheer, Ruby seems to blur and vanish into the forest around you.

Before you can even ask what she is doing she returns with a collection of medium sized sticks, handing one to you and Yang before jumping about from small group to small group, asking if people would like to make ‘smores’...whatever they are.

Maybe it's some kind of hunting trap you didn't know about.

Fine, but we better get some sauce with this. Chocolate sauce is okay, Yang and Ruby sauce is better, but if we can combine all three my stomach, heart, and boner would be very happy. Actually, let me rephrase that into proper order, stomach, boner+heart, heart+boner.

“So..what am I doing with this?” You ask Yang, holding up the stick with a raised eyebrow.

She answers by tearing open the bag with the white blobs, taking one out she plants it on the end of her impromptu skewer. You follow suit, sticking the squishy, soft thing into the stick. Having done that she sets the bag down, pulling open the box and revealing what appears to you to be hard tack.

“I'll set yours up, just start warming it in the fire.” She tells you, and while suspicious, you comply. Soon enough four others have joined you huddled around the fire with their own white bundles on sticks, and after watching them you begins to understand how it's done. Keeping the blob just out of the fire you look at Cardin and Russel who seem increasingly focused as the blobs on their sticks start to sag. Weiss, who suprises you that had joined, has put the now gooey cylinder on the edge of her rapier, keeping her distance and mostly eyeing the others.

After another minute Yang takes your hand and slowly pulls your stick from the flames, a chocolate and cracker already set up before using the assembled thing to pull the now sticky mess off the stick and topping it with another cracker.

“Dig in, tiger.” She says quietly, setting into making her own small sandwich.

Taking a bite the first thing you notice is the overpoweringly sweet taste of the white fluff, the once squishy and pliant exterior giving way to a soft and warm center. In addition to this comes the subtle taste of chocolate that had begun to melt in the warmth of what was placed atop it. Last was the slight crunch and semi-Sweet taste of the crackers that acted like the slices of a weird confectionary sandwich.

One bite soon Leads to two, then three until you finally wolfed the whole treat down.

“Not bad, huh?” Ruby asks, her face stuffed and gummed up by the white blob of sugar.

You happily nod.

Suddenly there's a sharp gasp and a laugh as Weiss’s marshmallow plops off the stick and onto the ground with a slight ‘splat’. Even as you're cleaning your metallic fingers of the last of your treat you too giggle, however having drawn attention they now laugh as you realize that chocolate was smeared slightly on your face.

“Seems he liked it a bit too much, rubes.” Yang chimes and before you even have a chance to argue Nora had appeared out of nowhere before licking her thumb and buffing the smudge away.

It will never cease to amaze you the strangeness of the bunch; However you're too busy making another smore to care.

After scarfing down another of the treats you realize that your hunger has yet to abate and decide that:

Putting your hunger aside, you excuse yourself and get to your feet. Limping to the outer edge of the impromptu camp you begin to look around and eventually spot the two you're looking for. Sitting in the dim light of their scrolls you hear a metallic twang and getting closer you see exactly what it was.

It was a guitar; An acoustic guitar to be exact.

You wince as a sour note rings out, quickly followed by Khrone giving some muffled words of advice. You let this pattern repeat a few times before deciding to interject.

“Mind if I cut in?” You ask, setting yourself down opposite Khrone with a groan.

Neither object and after a few more repetitions, with slight improvement Khrone perks up.

“Hey Clanker, why not show him a thing or two?” He asks, his fingers wrapped around the neck of the guitar.

“I haven't touched a guitar in two years, since that last time in that little spittoon near the sea.” You recall, hands coming up in a ‘please no’ gesture though Jaune seems equally interested.

“I didn't know you could play.” Jaune admits, smiling softly “I'm sure you're good, when with some rust.”

Taking the guitar gingerly into your hands, you test the strings with a few testing strums you begin to dance along the strings with your fingertips, picking them as you go. After maybe a half a minute you close your eyes and allow the music to flow through your soul; After a few minutes you begin to have a song slowly appear from the drivel of random notes you pluck along the strings.

You lose yourself in the rapturous euphoria of music created by your hand, with nothing more than the distant crackle of fire and the rustle of withering leaves above your head.

By the time you finally cease your playing it is an uncomfortable quiet around you. Opening your jade eyes you see that both your Best friend and Jaune are looking at you with stunned expressions.

“Two years my ass…” Khrone mutters, a grin slowly crawling across his face. “Encore! Encore!” He cheers, with Jaune quickly joining him.

Before you can even attempt to dissuade them they have managed to tug you to your feet and are already running back towards camp, guitar in hand.
