/qst/ - Quests

The tale of the Ivory Tower is often passed by scholars and sages. It was a structure built by powers unknown to house and preserve all of the worlds knowledge, removing the most dangerous labors of academia and thought from the realms of mortal men. Though a myth rather than a reality to most, the ambitious few seek the lost knowledge hidden behind the alabaster walls of legend. Reasons for chasing such a myth vary, but none can deny it's greatest tenet: Knowledge is power.

You know this tale to be truth, for you are the sovereign lord and master of the Ivory Tower of the legend. For centuries upon centuries, you have sworn your body and soul to protect the terrible secrets and world-shattering revelations within from the hands of those who would abuse such knowledge. Powerful artifacts have been pilfered from you by the most foolish of mortals. They know little of your true nature, and they must learn the folly that is stealing from the Lord of The Ivory Tower.
-------------------------
>>
Rules and Structure:
Rolling will normally be done on a d100.
Mechanically, the system will be vaguely similar to the Fantasy Flight Games style (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, etc.) Numbers lower than ability score for checks are successes and numbers above are failures.
When decisions must be made, I will wait approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on the volume of posters.
I will do all in my power to being attentive to all participants and not abandon the quest If more sessions are necessary, I will note the time of the next session in the thread.
Hopefully everybody has a good time.

Stat Ability Scores:

Physicality: The physical strength and constitution of your vessel.
Simple brute strength and durability.

Autonomy: The Ivory Tower has a strong grip on your physical body, sometimes making freedom of movement and finesse more difficult.
Higher scores loosen these bonds allowing greater freedom and dexterity.

Willpower: Your ability to push your own limits and impress your will unto
the Ivory Tower so it heeds your bidding as it's lord.

Understanding: Your intellectual acumen and ability to interact with magic.
Higher scores leads to greater magical power as well as the nature of the Tower.

Presence: The ability to interact with other creatures on a social and emotional
level, as well as interact with the consciousness of the Ivory Tower.

Renown: How well the rest of the world knows of the Ivory Tower you protect.
Don't be surprised if you end up having uninvited guests in your tower with a high score.
The difference between a legendary myth and a fact known to the masses.

------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, such a task seems impossible for you at this time.

You faintly remember now. Despite your eternal vigilance, your physical body, your immortal vessel in the material world, was slain...Somehow. Now your mind and soul swirls in the endless black purgatory that is the Ivory Tower's own bizarre consciousness. It won't seem to allow you the sweet release of death just yet.

Your name is Lord Drykos the Dreaded, Balor vassal of the Demon Lord Demogorgon the Dreaded, and a master of blades. In the hellscape in which you lived and ruled, Demogorgon was your greatest ally, helping you to achieve greater heights in your Demonhood as a Balor, ever in his favor, you were allowed to share his title, the Dreaded. Everything went downhill when rumors spread by envious competitors that you would usurp his hell-throne as his true successor. Demogorgon had little issue with this, however his Dynasty did. They forced his hand. Now you're here, a glorified bookkeeper of a sentient tower of sorts. While you have mixed feelings being the protector of cataclysmically forbidden knowledge, you are still on relatively good terms with your lord, Demogorgon.

As you desperately try to piece together the shambles of your previous life, lost in the inky blackness that is the brink of death,
your head is wracked with incredible agony.
How can this be You could feel absolutely nothing moments ago, yet your head is now giving you incredible, stimulating pain.

You open a fresh pair of eye into a dark tunnel of unparalleled emptiness with a gate of light at the end.

You walk towards it.

Moving towards this light until you realize you've been walking in place and getting no closer to your destination.

>"...and with thy service undone, thou must return..."

Suddenly you feel you heart and soul and body all wrench backwards, back into the abyss, another millennia of service awaits you.

The voice that called you back makes you remember, you had a favored servant, a familiar of sorts granted by the Tower.

"Awaken! my master." the voice rings clearly through your head again.

Your connection to this realm is weak, your senses are still very dull. You feel almost paralyzed in this stupor as what little senses you have tell you your laying quite still on your back. You seem to be laying on a hard block, probably an altar of sorts. Swallowing hard you can feel your throat clear up as your body begins to obey you once again. Everything hurts, which means you've come back successfully. How to you answer the disembodied call?

>Stronk Successful

You focus yourself, believing in your resurrected body that you will walk this realm once more. Transitioning quickly from laying, to sitting, to standing, you suddenly are on your feet without error. You immediately notice that you are not standing at your rather impressive full height, but that of a somewhat above average human human. As much as you wish to tower over the mortals of this realm, that will have to come later, as this blasted white building forces you into a better form to suit it's needs

You are brought back to the reality as the voice returns, it would be a sweet soprano if it wasn't so filled with concern.

"Gawds! Don't just jump up like that. You need to relax, you just got over a serious case of death"

You feel an arm push you into a sitting position, still somewhat to weak to resist. You look at the source of the arm and you can make out the visage of a woman. The cogs in your newly-alive brain begin to turn.

How do you respond?

>"Do I know you?"
>"Who are you to make demands of me?"

You speak, and your vision clears up enough for you to see.
You observe the woman, who you identify as a pretty young lady with cherry blonde hair and very pale skin

"Do I know you? Who are you?" She parrots.

She stares at you listlessly, mouth slightly open for a few moments. Taking some time to chew on your answer a bit looking, her face is quite pleasant to look at until it turns into a somewhat hurt, and then a frustrated scowl as she answers your question with another question.
“You don’t remember anything do you?”
Before you can react, she pulls on her hair a bit, more than a little annoyed, looking upwards and muttering to herself. You note that her teeth are unnaturally pointed.
“There’s know way. Your memories should be intact-I followed the ritual to the letter,” her voice rings out bitterly
“AAUGH – there’s no time for this.” The young lady recomposes herself.
Standing more confidently now, the very plain-speaking and sardonic young lady addresses you
“You were killed some time ago, so it was my responsibility to return your soul back to the physical realm.” She explains.
“My name is Ana, your ward, your caretaker, your Seneschal…Obviously” she adds under her breath, looking away briefly.
“These things are probably the least of your worries right now.”

That was a lot to take in.

>Dig Deep and try to remember this Ana

You think long and hard, digging deep into the reassesses of your mind until you're able to recall your Seneschal.

The Ivory Tower, in it's infinite wisdom, has seen fit to give you your own personal servant to watch over you. Unlike you, she can leave this tower without suffering ill effects for straying too far or outside for too long. A useful ability to you. Though she is more of a servile familiar to you, having a strong, friendly bond with your Seneschal is imperative to your recovery.

Anastasia has been served you as a companion quite well. Her tall, fairly well endowed, and attractive exterior belies a brash and mercurial disposition, as well as her vampirism. No servant of yours would be able to live for such a long time naturally. While Anastasia’s attitude leaves much to be desired, she has served loyally, her mind being sharp enough to comprehend multiple schools of magic. She is a good source of advice as long as you ignore the often sarcastic delivery, and her magical aptitude makes her reliable in a fight.

"I remember, Anastasia, but only so much."

The Vampire glosses over you with the piercing stare of her yellow eyes, then releases a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

"I'm glad you didn't forget everything,"

Ana sighs in relief. She never seems like the same person when she's at ease, not that you mind the sudden change too much.

You break the moment to further asses the predicament.

"What else has gone wrong?"

Recollecting herself, Ana returns to the usual severe gaze and informs you

"Other than your failure to live and the relics taken from the archive, we have a serious issue."

Sighing, she points upward and continues to explain.

"Unfortunately, while you were dead, someone has decided to make a home of the upper portion of the tower. It's one of the reasons your so weak right now."

>"Anything Else?"
>"What was taken from the Tower?"
>"Who the hell is squatting in my tower?"

>”Thank you for reviving me Seneschal”

Ana looks you over before quickly looking away and crossing her arms, over her chest and covering herself up.

“I did it because it’s my sacred duty to resurrect you. I-It’s not like I like you or anything.” She stutters.

She always had a strange reaction to praise.

>”Anything else?”

Ana turns to you to give you her counsel.

“You might want to consider meeting with the Archivist to figure out exactly what was taken from the tower in the decade you’ve been away – Actually, you have to, it’s your responsibility, for all I know, all the mortals outside are be dead after 10 years, depending on what they took.” Ana quips matter-of-factly.

>”Let us deal with the squatter that thinks it is wise to be within my home.”

Ana meets her yellow eyes to yours, glowing with contempt.

>”Yeah, I agree Drykos, that fucking dragon is really pissing me off.”

>“A dragon, eh?”

You repeat to your Seneschal, Ana.
If you were at your strongest such a creature would be a mild challenge, but at this point, it would be a pretty tall order.
Ana raises her voice a bit.

Yeah, a freaking dragon Drykos! It’s scary big and scary smart , the bastard has a huge foothold on the tower right now because of it can use sorcery. It’s more than likely he wants access to the Library to study some arcane magics.

You can’t have that, it’s your job to deny anyone access to that kind of knowledge, Dragon or otherwise.

>“And I’m a Demon Lord, one dragon shouldn’t be too much of an issue.” You poise yourself confidently, in spite of the odds against you.

“Don’t get cocky, stupid! It’s been up there for years now, and it’s not alone, now there’s all sorts of creepy things crawling around up there.”

Ana shivers a little at the thought.
“No matter what, I’m going up there. Someone has to get rid of the squatter.” All this talk has gotten you a little hyped up.

Ana pouts, pointing her finger at you for emphasis.

“You’re reckless! And I refuse to resurrect your sorry ass again, I’m coming with you.”

>“Let’s go get that dragon then.”

“Before you go slay a dragon, you might want to consider, oh, I don’t know, maybe putting some clothes on?” Ana says snidely

You look yourself over, your extra-humanoid demon body is covered in bandages, particularly around the limbs, but otherwise naked except for a loincloth

Ana nods to the side, pointing at a neatly folded dull navy blue hooded cloak with white embroidering and a dark grey under-tunic. The garments expose your arms, which you find to your liking. You notice it has the symbol of the Ivory Tower, an ‘I’ shape stylized to look like a tower. You put on the raiment of the Ivory Lord and pull the large hood over your head, fortunately not catching on your fairly long horns, which mostly jut forward. It wears much like a greatcoat, yet comfortably form-fitting as if it belongs on you. You notice there was no weapon with your personal dregs.

“It wasn’t easy piecing you back together you know. In fact, it was a huge bitch. Forcing a demon’s slain body back into the physical realm without it’s own free will helping is like trying to force a room full of mist into a little glass bottle.”

You look more closely at the bandage job on your arms, which is fairly neat and tidy. Underneath the bandaging is all kinds of cutting, scarring, and stitching marking your buff bright red arms. Whoever, or whatever you fought to the death was packing either some strong divine weapon or some serious magical power to permanently mar a demon’s flesh.

>Leave the bandages on for now, I don’t want to open up any wounds
>Remove them, there’s no need anymore

“Ana.”

“What do you want.?”

>”Where’s my blade?”
>”You know what? Nevermind.

You decide to leave the bandages on. You don't want to ruin Ana's hard work.

"Where is my blade?" You ask the vampire.

"It ended up lost in the tower during the skirmish 10 years ago, that dickhead ass-kisser Gaius went to go find it." Ana replies.

"I wonder if that guy is alive still - well whatever, here, just take my side-arm."

Ana draws a long, somewhat thinner blade, about the length of the typical long sword but somewhat lighter, a side-sword perhaps. It's well polished and you feel it emanate in the palm of your hand. Not exactly your style, but it will suffice.

"It's an enscorcelled blade, don't stab yourself with it by accident,"

You take the weapon and it's scabbard from your caretaker and feel a little more at ease now that your armed.

"Are you ready to move out now?"

>I had a long memory and much of the knowledge I held would have shattered me, were it not against the requirements of my station. Hypothesis: it is likely that as I relearn the necessary lessons of my posting, I will regain other associated memories. Thoughts, Ana?

"A likely guess. The best way to restore your memories would probably to find your crown, something that ALSO got lost." Ana responds, irritated.

"Your best bet going upstairs and kicking that dragon's ass right now, dummy." She quips.

“Let’s get going then, I’ll lead you to the upper tower, we need to get out of this chamber, it’s dank and gross.”

You can sense her losing patience, so you decide to cooperate.

You follow Ana up the Tower, past walls of alabaster white and sophisticated architecture. The entire structure looks pretty worn right now, you hope this is reversible.

Heading up the tower is an arduous task, there are so many levels and winding staircases that it boggles the mind. Some of the rooms manage to be precarious, despite only being one floor above the last, the chasms in certain rooms defy all logic by being what seems to be an endless drop.

Finally you make it to the entrance to the Ivory Tower, a large empty lobby. dim Sunlight floods the floor from the entrance.
“This way.”
After ascending a few rooms further, you make it to another room, this one also has a large, suspended staircase, but the staircase has been almost completely destroyed, and it’s a long way down.

> 3 Degrees of success

It was time to test your power over this plane of existence, to see if you still got it. This will be do or die considering the depth of the chasm.

You lift your arms up as if you were picking your own body up, and you begin to levitate. Feeling how simple it was you push yourself over the black pit with little effort. Picking up speed you zip over the chasm before making closing the gap, getting yourself to the next door.

You still got it.

You hear Ana from the other side of the gap

"Not bad." You're almost surprised you managed to impress her.

You see Ana snap her fingers and in a puff of dark mist, she transforms into a vampire bat, darts over in bat-form, and in another poof of smoke, she's a vampire again.

"Let's keep going."

As you clear a few more rooms you notice many large, earthy colored vines.

"Watch yourself, this might get ugly and I don't want to be responsible for you like a child"

The next room is absolutely covered in all kinds of roots and vines. White walls are smothered in brown veins.

"Gross."

You agree with your Seneschal. This is ruining your precious charge.

You both walk to the door, but it's completely covered in brown root-like vines.

"Damn it!" yells Ana

You're blocked off from continuing.

How do you handle this?

Hacking at the giant root proves to be ineffective, your blows simply shred the tiny shrubbery and bounce off of the main arm of the thick roots. It’s as if the weapon has no enchantment at all.

“You are doing a terrible job.”

Just as she finishes , the entire floor seems to tremor, a rumbling groan of pain, and you see massive root writhe around a bit. Clearly this is the work of the dragon’s foul magics.

“Ew, Ew, Ew, Ew, EEEW.”

Just as you come to the realization of the sentience of the strange tree branches, Ana’s ewing jerks your head towards her. An absolutely enormous hairy spider has descended from the ceiling. It’s dropped huge sticky load of webbing on her and it’s currently wrapping her up to make her a tasty undead snack. Ana is shaking, frozen in place.

You summon the power of fire in your hand. Heat coalesces through your fingers and the rest of the room seems to get colder as the power in burns in your hand. You cock your arm back and hurl the fiery sphere at the massive spider.

The fire ball hurtles into the giant spider cleanly, and after hitting it squarelyin the center mass, rip the arachnid right off of Ana without further incident. The eight-legged fiend is dragged through the air a few yards away before being blown to burning bits in mid air.

Ana is shaking like a leaf, covered in an extra goopy webbing.

“T-Thanks.” Ana blurts out.

You’re able to pull your Seneschal out of the webbing as parts of the room are burning up a bit as a result of the explosion.

Just as you do manage to pull her out without getting stuck yourself, She clings to you like a scared puppy. You feel the room rumble again. You turn around to see the huge root blocking the door has caught fire and is flailing about.

The wooden monstrosity slams back and forth, leaving only a minor window to slip through. You make a break for it as the room falls apart around you, ward in hand. You manage to slip under the appendages unscathed.

You practically drag Ana with you most of the way up the next flight of stairs. That is until she nearly pushes you off and into the endless pit out of embarrassment.

She demands you to never mention what happened in that chamber of the tower ever again.

As you continue another two stories, the next large room is incredibly dark. You would be able to see despite the darkness if the room wasn't packed with trees. It's like a horticultural project gone horribly wrong in your home.

"Crystal." She answers flatly.

Your stewardess guides you towards the center, while hacking at the obstructing plants at knee level.

"I'm getting really sick of plants."

It's less dense as you get to the center. An unease grows in your heart as you get towards the center of the room.

"I see the exit, it's this way. Hurry up."

Your patron, Demogorgon smiles up you this day. You demand control of your tower come back to you this instant and wipe these vermin away from your place of residency.

Pushing this great disdain for your enemies into the very floor of the tower, you meld your mind into it so that the sickly growth that plagues it may be destroyed. The room shakes and rumbles and you feel great pressure upon you mind by regain control of this whole chamber. Ana immediately stops what she was doing, kicks the closest kobold in the face, and grabs hold of you to maintain her balance as the floor shakes violently and is tor from the grasp of the sick roots which have infect the white walls surrounding you. With a terrible rumble, the trees that were rooted into the ground are uprooted and moved directly away from your position. The kobolds that were once assailing you are fleeing, at risk of being crushed by the forest they once used to stalk you. Your ears are ringing from the splintering of bark and breaking of stone. The stone floors have been completely rearranged and roughly uprooted. The heavily wooded room has been altered. Now the trees that once stood all over have been pushed to the edges of the chamber, almost completely destroyed along with a large number of kobold bodies crushed into paste.

There is a dull ache that radiates from your head, and you can feel blood run from your nose. You didn't even notice you collapsed to you knees In your amnesiac level of understanding overdid it this time. Perhaps you will be more cautious and precise in your manipulation next time instead of trying to move the whole damned floor. Any kobolds that survived are being cut down by Ana after being completely shell shocked as you recompose yourself.

"There's the door, come on let's go" Ana grabs you and helps you walk

You manage to right yourself and you've discovered another tool at your disposal. Ana looks you over quietly and you think you might be sharing the same sentiment - you must be careful with this power over your environment.

You've been ascending the tower for some time before you enter a particularly large chamber, and this one is rather barren, save for vines and branches hugging the walls. The ceiling is incredibly high and disappears not unlike the rooms containing large chasms and winding staircases. You have the feeling your being watched.

You turn to Ana and you notice she's looking straight up.

"Look alive, we have company"

Thanks to the heads up, your able to dodge out of the way as a huge green beast descends in an attempt to crush you underfoot, releasing a large guttural, screeching roar as it does. You can feel the impact as it smashes the floor. After rolling away from the creature, you rise slowly to get a good look at it. It returns the favor as you circle each other like predators. It is a terrible green beast, with a large set of leathery wings, crimson eyes, a long slender neck, and a single pair of talon-equipped legs. You look for any degree of intelligence in it's blood red eyes, but all you see is hunger and rage. It leaps into the skies and suspends itself into the air by flapping it's enormous wings. It opens it's maw to roar it's vile screeching roar one last time, exposing a cornucopia of dagger like teeth before charging at you headlong in a swooping aerial assault.

You draw your weapon.

This will be the first real challenge of the reclamation of your tower.

You focus so that your demonic body can ignore some of the natural laws of this realm. Running away from the lesser dragon, you head towards the chamber wall directly behind you and run on top of it, your otherworldly for of tactile telekinesis completely ignoring the vertical incline. As you carefully dash up the wall, avoiding losing your footing on the many parasitic roots that have taken hold of your keep, you look back to notice your flying attacker is hastily altering it's own trajectory to chase you up the wall as it comes in instead of violently ramming into it.

You see this as you chance. As the beast slows down, kick off of the wall and drop towards your foe, timing your decent as to land behind it. It certainly wasn't expecting your maneuver. You pull back your sword arm to plunge it into the dragon while the other looks for purchase on it's back.

>>I'm not finished marking this beast and I refuse to dismount until I see this through

It's about time your impact on the world was felt again, and it starts with making this Wyvern bend it's knee to you. Not even a massive cloud of ice magic would stop you in this endeavor! Summoning incredible strength, you stab right through the creature as it loses a scream of pain. It doesn't even reach your ears as you roar and drag the thin sword through the dragon's body, etching the symbol of your position into it's back. Time seems to have slowed to a crawl as you work. In this way, you are able to complete the mark. Upon crossing the scouring mark, the bloody wounds are obscured as white light escapes the injury-pattern. Immediately, you are overcome with byt he icy cloud and the effects are felt by it's target. Frost accumulates in and crystalizes at the points of impact, just to the right of the dragons crest, and both of it's wings. While on it's back, you jab you blade into the Wyvern's back hand hang on for dear life as you begin to lose altitude.

KERSMAAAASSHH!!!!

The entire chamber rings with the dull base of mass hitting the ground and the crunching of breaking ice. You maintain your grip and until the momentum leaves your mount and you place your hand to the mark you made into it.

"With the power given unto to me, I the protector of the infinite knowledge and Lord of Ivory stake my claim upon thee..."

Your not sure where the words come from you right now. All you know is that you have to finish the incantation and you don't need to be touching the magical inscription you made anymore. The Wyvern has righted itself arched it's long neck at you and attempts to chomp you. Unsheathing Ana's sword from it's body, you leap down and out of the way as you continue the magical cant. Creating some distance between you and the target of your spell you notice it's wings are unfit for flight, weighed down by ice. Its body is overall still somewhat unharmed, although weathered from it's hard impact. Ana runs up beside you to back you up with her thicker, main-hand blade drawn. The draconic beast, deprived of flight begins to circle you on it's two legs preparing it's next attack.

How will you stall this out so your spell can take effect?

It's no good, Levitating while a spell that requires this level concentration is impossible at the moment.

The Wyvern's attention is currently on Ana, and it's usuing it's long arching neck and sharp teeth to attempt to take a bite out of her. Anticipating it's attacks, she deftly avoids its snake-like lunges with an unnatural speed, almost gliding on the floor. What she doesn't anticipate is the dragon turning and whipping it's massive tail, sweeping her off the ground and throwing her to the side.

"Oof..." Ana is cut off as the air is knocked out of her body.and it is sent flying away.

Seeing you standing still, the Wyvern approaches you, before sucking in air deep into it's lungs, carefully bracing itself on the ground.

>Difficult DC 20 - Rolled 9: 1 Degree of Success

"DOOODGE!!!"

You hear Ana's voice come from the corner of the room.

You need no advice at this point. You leap out of the way, doing your best to enunciate all the final words to your chant. Tremendous heat hits you as an enormous gout of flame trails behind you as you leap out of the way.

"...And thou shalt serve me for all eternity." You finish the binding spell.

As you do this, an enormous flash envelopes the room. The flaming breath stops and the Dragon lets out a shriek of pain writhing as you brand takes effect. There's a burning on your forehead that makes your third eye itch. You need to establish a proper mental link later. For now, just asserting your dominance will do. You outstretch your hand and overpower it's mind, causing it to seize wildly. Starting from the point you've marked on it, an eerie paleness creeps, dying the dragon's scales and flesh completely white. After what felt like a good amount of time, this huge creature is now completely unconscious like a big white lump. Your head burns, you sit down, having exhausted yourself somewhat.

In this time, Ana has managed to collect herself after being launched across the room. After making her way over, she fixes her disheveled self and re-coifs her hair. You're eyes meet for a brief second, and she looks back at the completely dominated Wyvern.

"Tch. Chaos Magic." She clicks her teeth a little annoyed and sits down across from you after all the trouble you both went through. She seems fine, sporting a few superficial gashes on her face.

Chaos Magic, an odd name for a discipline you think to yourself. Another name for Radiant Magic, the discipline of bending the world to your whims using powerful, glowing sigils of magical power. One your trademark special talents, you've manage to tame a Wyvern with a Sigil of Posession.

____________________________

You've remembered a new Radiant Spell: Sigil of Possession

This Sigil is a useful one for those that demand fealty and compliance. Any object that is marked that is sentient can be bent to your will through force, become connected to you through a mental linking, and the location of any object or creature is always known to you. By using your spell power, you can call anything marked by you to your position with some concentration, depending on the subject being teleported.

________________________________
Ana has been eyeing you for a while

"Geeze, one little sigil and your out of it, maybe you should relax a bit." your vampire servant suggests after a big sigh.

Such a feeling brings you undecipherable visions...

After feeling a surge of power washes over you, your eyes fly open, returning to the huge empty room. Your company is the same, your perpetually grumpy caretaker, a now bleached-white Wyvern in a bit of a magically induced coma, and the sick, pulsating branch-like roots that envelope the walls.

"If your done dreaming, can we get going now?" Ana aggressively pipes up after noticing your wakefulness.

She seems to be ready to go, her small wounds from the previous battle having healed.

Feeling rejuvenated yourself, your ready to move on. Looking at the Wyvern, you deign to leave it here so it can recuperate as well...If you need it, you don't think you can lose it here due to the sigil's power noting it's proximity to you as well as the fact you can conjure it, that is once it wakes up. You feel another presence similar to the way the Wyvern feels now that you think about it that is also quite close. Something nearby seems to have your sigil as well. Perhaps continuing onward will reveal what it is?

You nod to your Seneschal, leading the way, and ascending through your tower, displeased at the accumulating foilage on your property, which seems to be shifting in a stomach-turning way. You must be pretty high up in the Tower at this point.

As you make it into the top of the spiraling staircase, near the entrance to the next chamber you hear the clashing of weapons.

How do you proceed?

"What the fu-" Your companion blurts out in confusion as you run into the room haphazardly, ready to tackle the next fool you see.

Dashing in your able to make out four individuals, all of them wearing fairly heavy armor. Three of them wear a similar style of armor, all of them noticeably taller than the odd man out. You end up spear tackling one of the three larger foes right into the grwoth-laden wall.

You shout at your foe to enhance the effect of getting the jump on them.

SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER!!

With a loud, satisfying slam, you smash the fool you tackled pretty good. His armor makes against the foilage, and you follow up with a blow to the helm, further rattling your opponent.

Stepping back to appreciate your work, you look over foe. It is very tall, standing more than a head taller than you currently stand, and wears a heavy plate around it's sturdy looking, but somewhat slender form. It's armor is an earthy brass color, and swept back horns adorn it's head.

You feel someone approach you and turn around, only to turn and see Ana clash her Falchion blade a warrior similar to the one you tackled, tying up his halberd from striking you.

You turn to your victim and he's still picking himself off the floor and grabbing his long axe you knocked off of him.

DC 35 - Rolled 32: Success

The armored warrior rights itself and lashes out at you, attempting a desperate blow with it's axe. Focusing your mind into a portion of the floor, it spikes up abruptly into the attacker's shin and the blow throws him off balance and into you. You proceed to follow up deftly with a Burning Blade spell. Your sword becomes a massive flaming torrent with which you bring to bear on the oncoming foe.

Lining up a heavy blow using burning blade is simple enough, your heavily damage foe completely off balance after manipulating the floor and now hurtling towards you. Lining it up, you cleave through the point of impact you made into the lithe warrior with tremendous force, tearing further into it's body, destroying all kinds of important parts digging into it's side, and picking it up off the ground, flames jetting through the ventillation of it's armor as it's engulfed and thrown to the side. The body tumbles towards, following it leads to where Ana and the halberd wielder were fighting at a convenient time. You look up to see Ana using a interesting maneuver, spinning under a whiffed halberd blow, to come up and strike into the opening of the taller warriors gorget. Blood slowly floods out from the visor of it's helm as it slumps over and dies. She turns to you acknowledging you with a scornful look, removing her blade from the fresh corpse. She turns away from you.

Following Ana's gaze leads you the last two armored warriors. The warrior you saw that was not freakishly tall is currently standing over the last of those slender horned knights, a large, ornate, rounded, flanged maul hoisted over his head. A sickening crunch later and the three of you are standing in a triangle over the bodies of the armored warriors you each defeated. Your gaze falls upon the final armored warrior. His armor is shiny and black with a few white trimmings. The helm has horns on it as well, at a different in projection than your own horns. He tightens his grip on that mace-headed maul.

>A Demon, like you
>Let your Seneschal act as your mouthpiece

Looking the armored warrior up and down, your own senses tell you he is of a demonic origin, much like you.

Unlike you, he lacks the completely corporeal body you have, instead opting to possess a suit of armor instead. His face is not but a malignant smoke streaming from the opening in his helm. This is kind of demon that would best subsist on a diet of mortal souls.

You look at Ana and she looses an exasperated sigh, before addressing the armored warrior.

"Gaius, you stupid idiot! Why did you run off on your own all the way up here? Without telling anyone? I thought you would be lost or dead after I destroyed the staircase to the upper levels and ended up unintentionally trapping you up here.

Gaius' empty helm faces Ana and a voice echos from the steaming mass billowing as his powerfully distorted voice emanates from it in anger.

"Perhaps if you hadn't struggled in reviving our lord, I would have deemed it unnecessary to come up here and make myself useful here."

"Because of your absence, we've had an influx of uninvited guests coming in!" Ana retaliates.

"I couldn't care less about the archives being pillaged, as long as my men are garrisoned to protect the Tower's heart, I can do what needs to be done, like slaying the true threat, this dragon."

They go back and forth. It's not exactly productive, but perhaps you could get them to explain some things to you.

>"Enough." You command.

Both Ana and Gaius immediately stop and face you. Ana crosses her arms and Gaius rises to better heed you. You turn him.

>"Ready any men you can spare for our fight with the dragon." you command.

Gaius closes his helm before speaking in his rasping echo of a voice.

"Are you for certain my lord? I will go immediately, but this action would take some time...I would end up leaving you alone with this...uncouth woman." Giaus draws out that last phrase an looks at your Seneschal, only to have her stick her tongue at him.

>"Gather your men"

"I understand milord..." The shadow demon bows dutifully, right hand over his heart before turning about face towards the way you came in. His footsteps ring out as his metal greaves hit the stone floors at quick pace.

As you turn back to the way further upwards, you notice Ana grinning with self satisfaction, before returning to the usual scowl.

"Well let's go then already."

The two of you continue up the the stairwell. You notice that the walls are covered with an even more dense collection of the huge root-like appendages. Whatever the source of these tendrils are, it is close. You make a left, forcing the next door open to you right. What you find is as awesome as it is appalling.

There is not a hint of the sterile white walls that adorn your precious keep. Instead, the entire room is covered in a sickly brown mesh of pulsating appendages. The center of the room contains a massive pillar, which looking over again you identify as a giant gnarled. There are no leaves on the branches, which just look like another set of roots on the top. It smashes through the ceiling and the ground with it's arms, an ugly blight on the Ivory tower.

Two of the slender draconic warriors that you encountered earlier are waiting for you in this room, both wielding a variant of a pole-arm.

From behind the tree, two more of the armored fighters appear, one of them wielding a crossbow.

You hear an unearthly rumbling from the massive tree creature.

Time slows down. As the Billhook warrior charges at you, in the corner of your eye, the crossbow wielding assailant adjusts his aim, instead of targeting you, he turns to Ana. The vampire is currently casting another spell and now would be a bad time to take a bolt in the back for her as she faces down two different opponents.

You try your hardest to remember the Meta-Magical know-how necessary to cast a spell with enough haste to throw out another. Quickly you aim the tip of your Side Sword directly at the attacking foe, one arm directly under and parallel to your sword. Without hesitation you light him up. A large flat jet of fire erupts from your sword searing the warrior, fire pouring out of the openings of his armor as he is charred. as you blast him you use your off-hand to collect run off flames. He stops in his tracks, burning, giving you the opportunity to hurl the hastily made fireball now coursing with power in you free hand. Swiftly turning, you hurl the fireball at the cowardly distant crossbowman.

Damage - Rolled 64, 8

The second fireball you threw curves in a bit on your foe, striking him in the side of the head and driving his body into the massive parasitic pillar in the center of the room. After smacking against the great tree, the fireball explodes violently, destroying the crossbow and hurling the crossbowman's body somewhat closer to the major skirmish. The downed combatant tries to pick himself of the ground, but continues to stumble due perhaps to shell-shock. In a flash the section of the tree the warrior was shooting from has burst into flame. Turning to face the closest opponent, the warrior was certainly hurt by your Burning sword spell, but he has shaken off the searing damage and briskly walks up to you to engage you. Before this happens the whole room shakes violently and you hear a terrible wail that tears at the back of your brain.

>Standard DC 30 - Rolled 5, 8, 7: He's dead Jim

Gripping Ana's side-arm with both hands, you bring it to bare with a loud yell that shows your intent to kill your enemy in combat. Batting the oncoming pole-arm aside with one blow, you smash the blade directly into the side of your opponent's skull destabilizing him as your weapon rends his helmet off in one swing. Slitted eyes stare back at you in a scaled, horned, somewhat charred head, and they are wide at the oncoming blow. Tearing into the opponent's torso next, the ensorcelled blade digs into the armor, waist-to-shoulder, and splatters blood in an arc on passing through the dragon-man's chest. He attempts to right himself and swing recklessly with his weapon one-handed, but instead you kick him further up balance, finally following for the killing blow. Plunging your sword into it's chest, you pore power into your blade and it wraps the dying creature in crimson fire. Kicking the charred husk off, your about to go assist Ana, when the brain numbing wail reverberates in the back of your mind again and your Third Eye begins to itch.

WHUUUUMPH!!!

There is a huge dull thud as a massive bark-covered tentacle takes up much of your view. crushing whatever was left of the dragon warrior into smushed ashes.

Turning towards the source of that massive appendage leads to the terrible pillar that fills your tower. It's sick gnarled features glow and form form a face with a gaping mouth. You see the armored warrior you hit with a fireball and sprawled on the ground now in the air with multiple other root-arms flailing about. It emits it's mind numbing shriek again as it tosses it's captive into it's maw. It's vile arms begin to hover above the area Ana is fighting the other two Dragon Warriors.

You call out to Ana, wishing she could come to your side immediately so you could prevent her from being swallowed up by the abomination that ate one of the dragon-men. She is obscured somewhat by the massive tendrils that are being ripped up from the floor. There is a familiar tingle on the brand upon your head, it feels almost the same as when you tamed the Wyvern.

You shake the feeling off for now as you utilize your Meta-Magic prowess to create a fireball strong enough to hurt this monster. The room grows colder as your hand burns incredibly bright, the fire spills out in arcing sparks all around you as you take aim.

You put your entire body-weight into the throw. Your pitching form is on point as the extra shiny, average sized fireball sails through the air.

Something is wrong.

The very bright radiance of the ball of very hot magic slows down in speed as it travels through the air and expands. By the looks of it, you may have overcooked this one! It does not make it all the way to the tree before violently detonating as the room is utterly flooded with a glowing red inferno. The blast is the last thing you hear as everything goes white as a dull ring floods your ears, and a smokey brimstone scent fills your lungs and you are thrown back with tremendous force slamming hard into a solid wall and knocking the wind out of you. Immediately you try to get to your feet, groggy and unscertain. Your vision slowly but surely clearing up. You can see Ana's body in your vision, not moving and a little bloody. Her state tells you she's suffered a sharp blow to the head. Before you can process what is going on, her body is hoisted into the air by arms you've grown to hate. Looking back towards the center of the room, the fireball has done it's job. many patches of the room are on fire and the ethereal screaming bounces around in your somewhat lucid head. You notice a huge chunk of the evil tree is gone and the surrounding branches and roots that it waved in the air have almost all been blown to splinters, you can pinpoint exactly where the origin of the explosion was, it left a perfect circle of nothing. You've definitely injured the parasitic plant-monster but it still yet lives, and it has your most attentive ward in it's clutches.

That last spell took a lot out of you it will be more difficult to cast until your stamina is recovered

That feeling you felt earlier, calling Ana while using magic, the presence of a second Sigil of Possession, it makes sense in your head. You only need a small amount of effort as the brand on your forehead burns and you channel power through your body. With your bandaged arm outstretched you pull Ana towards you in your mind. Before you know it Your Senschal is falling into your arm, and you react by instantly catching her without even thinking about it. It's no secret to you now, you part Ana's long pinkish hair and at the base of her neck you find your Sigil of Ownership, embedded in the scruff of her neck and currently burning. You note how complex it is, not at all crude like the last one you made. Unfortunately your caretaker is still unconscious. The abominable tree has discovered whatever it had picked up has now been vanished away. It turns it's attention to you as the room continues to burn.

Carrying Ana on your shoulder and picking up the blade you dropped, you try to figure out what your best option is right now.

>Open the Divine Eye: Stare it's Soul down to try to stun it

Your drop to a crounch, placing both hands to the ground, nothing fancy, just a shell to protect your. pulling the ground up with your mind, your will is done as large, jagged, alabaster chunks rise up from under the layer of roots covering this room. They arc over you, triangular and leaf-like, but very solid. It was well timed as bark flies off in chunks and the room tremors, the parasite smashes your make-shift defenses with the whip of it's appendages. You feel it's mind numbing scream overwhelm your senses.

It's time to silence it.

You open the third eye, in an attempt to paralyze the creature by burdening it's very soul with the presence of your patron: Demogorgon.

Rolled - 17

The unearthly scream of the massive tree as it's arms thud heavily are drowned out as you look at it through one of the crevasses left by the tears of tower you uprooted.

"Your having trouble with a tree? I'm have to say I'm a little disappointed in you son." You feel a little ashamed as the voice of your patron scolds you like a father disciplining his child.

The world goes red as power bursts forth from your head and in a flash, the whole room is silent. You can clearly see the tree now. it's body has lost much of it's color and it's glowing eye-gnarls look empty and dead. The fires where put out by the power put on display, but now your enemy has relented it's attack. It's time to finish the job while you have the chance.

>Focus your will into the tower's ceiling and floor where it attaches itself, twist them both in opposite directions and rip it in two

Leaving Ana in the upturned barrier of rubble, you walk out to survey the scene. The Tree's vitality has left it, but you are certain it still has life. Time to end that.

Taking a breath tho collect yourself, you leviate to the ceiling of the room and stick your feet on the ceiling as if gravity had been reversed. Placing your hands to the ceiling beneath you as if it was ground. You stretch your mind out across the towers floor across a large area. Dust descends from the ceiling in a circle above the monster, like a halo of dust. It slowly turns clockwise.

You can see the branches quiver and shake as tiny, squeaking pops are emanating from the intrusive creature.

Dropping down to the floor again, you repeat the process again, this time counter clockwise. The strain on your mind is incredible.

"...YeEeeeEeesssss....

Your deep connection with the consciousness of this tower scrapes against your psyche. It wants to be free of this intrusive creature as well. It only strengthens your resolve.

The monster is terribly distorted now as worrisome sounds come from it's middle.
Roaring as you deal with the incredible pressure on your mind, you find purchase as you hear the twisting and breaking of corrupted wood.

CRRRRAAAAAACK!!!!

You are bombarded by a shower of wooden chunks as another deafening cacophony fills the room. There is a faint screaming in the back of your mind, as it fades you know for sure.

It is dead.

Falling to your knees, you are greeted with the unpleasant feeling of sinking as the roots on the floor are wither and die.

Getting up and limping as quickly as your body allows, you grab Ana's body and drag the both of you to the exit.
>>
>>1853909

The last ascent is torturous, you can't remember any of it as your mind was completely wracked numb after focusing so hard. There are openings to the outside world around you, the stark grey glow of a cloudy day engulfs you and burns your eyes. The air grows thin here

Nevertheless you manage.

You enter a large ornate door, tired and groggy this vessel is exhausted.

"Milord!"

You here the clanging of greaves on stone again-many more greaves this time as you are supported by the leader of your elite guard.

What is your will, Ivory Lord?

>How did you get here before me?

He chuckles a grating chuckle, it is like a dagger scraping the inside of his vacant armor.

"Anastasia's revival was incomplete. Your memory."

You give him a look of contempt as he doesn't answer your question.

"My apologies, Milord." Gaius recomposes himself

"You must understand that this structure, the Ivory Tower, is like a separate from this plane of existence all on it's own, but it is constantly shifting, ebbing and flowing like the tide of an ocean. A demon like me would never be able to backtrack normally in the belly of this fickle beast, every room would be completely different, to a degree at least." Gaius explains

"You on the other hand...normally, you would be the only one to control the chaotic nature of the tower, but you are not whole. Had you been so, you would understand this place being like a realm removed from other realms."

"And here, you are not unlike a god"

>"Where are your men?" you find this long winded explanation tedious and unnecessary

Gaius turns to the right and nods, suddenly several armored warriors, much like Gaius appear. Their armor is similar, but it is a toneless white in comparison to their leader's black armor. You count 7 of them total.

"They will be sufficient, I can't leave the heart alone or you won't be coming back again. On the positive end of traversing random rooms, we found this..." He nods to his underlings again.

One of Gaius' men produces a mask of pure Ivory. It has very small spikes that adorn the top. The features are that of a painfully average human. The mouth, expressionless hangs slightly agape.

"We found this on our way up. I was hoping we would cross paths earlier, but I can't control the Tower. The Crown of the Ivory King. Please wear it and become whole again."

You almost forgot you were carrying another person. You motion this intent to Gaius.

>"Can you help her, she's been unconscious for some time."

The Shadow demon looks from another angle, then back at you.

"She's seems alright to me."

You feel a little movement from her body and a faint murmur

"...S-stupid Gaius..."

Gaius shugs and takes a step or two back

"She really likes it when you hold her like-"

"STUPID GAIUS!!!!!"

Ana hops out of your grip with lightning speed, all kinds of curses being loosed from her lips as she pounds his armored chest, creating an ineffectual dull drumming rhythm. Gaius just takes it, still shrugging.

You look at the inside of the mask. Before you can react, it clings to your face and magical power surges into you.

Mysteries are revealed unto you. and you can feel your power grow.

Having the crown bonded to you has given you strange hallucinations. A humanoid silhouette stands before you in a misty terrain. It's words are a distorted whisper that rings through your very soul. You are communing with the Ivory Tower itself.

"dO NoT FAiL mE, foR YOu ARe mY ChOSeN. LeT mY WILL be DOne."

Your memories are still jumbled, but you can remember. The many centuries with your servants, the pain of dying, it all comes back to you as your consciousness returns to reality.

Everything is the same, yet you know there has been great change in you, feeling your face, the mask seems to stick there, covering your facial features with the undistinct face of the mask. Your horns are now covered in solid Ivory, like a large pair of tusks. You check the flesh beneath your battle-bandages, the flesh is still grotesquely pocketed with scars, but your bright red flesh is now completely a stark shade of white. You gaze beyond yourself as your brand of office burns through the mask which clings to your face like a second skin.

This Dragon was as knowledgeable as he was treacherous, as big of a threat the massive parasitic tree that was harming your dwelling, he has guaranteed another sinister plot.

The Tower's immobility.

One of the greatest features of the tower is the ability to cross dimensions to travel the world with incredible haste. Being more connected to your tower, you realize such a potent power is beyond you as long as you do not have it.

You must recover The Pilot, the key to overcoming your tethering to this place.

"Then we'd best look upstairs." Ana suggests

"The Pilot's normal rating place is above. On the aerie." Gaius glances towards the center of this opened room. One more, narrow flight of steps within a tall column stands between you and the top of your tower.

You nod to your faithful and proceed up the stairwell. They follow you without hesitation.

Reaching the Aerie, you are greeted by a large, white ampitheater-shaped platform. The center houses a small shrine of of sorts. You move towards the center to examine the pedestal, which your Pilot stone should be. It isn't there.

You hear a the sound of a massive body soaring through the air, before a thunderus landing bounces off the concave landing.

"So you've finally come, Ivory Lord? I was almost afraid I wouldn't get to meet you." Your mind reverberates with an unpleasant sound. You turn to meet it's owner.

You are greeted with the presence of a dragon. This is no simple dragon, it is old, and wise, and leaks malicious intent. It's red eyes glow red with a dark mind, it is covered with green scales that give it a majestic countenance. It''s body is longer, more slender, and far larger than you anticipated. It is old, and dangerous.

Your companions tense themselves, they look to you for guidance.

You and your foe stare each other down. Stong and unafraid you speak.

"This is the ultimate well of knowledge, an ultimate well of POWER. Only a fool would not be interested in such a prospect. I have simply fulfilled my destiny to rule this world using the tools you have locked away."

>"Where is The Pilot"?

You are losing your patience.

"You want this?"

The winged beast pulls out a small, clear orb with great dexterity between it's reptilian hand talons. It's sheen is unmistakable.

The Dragon tosses it into the air and snaps at it. Swallowing it whole.

Liking it's chops, the Dragon emits a tremendous roar that rocks you to your very bones.

"You will never have it, you will never leave, and you shall fall before me. This realm is MINE!"

You have to stop this tyrant's charge now. You put everything you have into your Burning Blade Spell. You take the conjured fire attack, which now glows an incandescent white, and slam it into your foe. It does not stop him.

You end up scooped up in the grasp of the Green Dragon. your body is crushed by it's tremendous clutch.

"Let him go!" You hear Ana's voice come from somewhere below you.

"I will make you pay for destroying the Domitar Tree. Begone Ivory Lord, so says I, Ishmael!"

You are hurled from the tower, hurt quite well from the Dragon's ferocious power. You are falling downwards off of your tower, completely weightless. You try to suspend your fall by focusing your power, but it is futile. By a stroke of fortune, your summons comes in, and you land squarely in the back of the Wyvern you ended up taming. Grabbing on to it's pale body, you pull yourself up into a riding position, commanding your servant to take you back to the fray.

Your foe is still recoiling, how do you take advantage

>Standard DC 33 - Rolled 5, 8, 63: A strong retaliation

Seeing the opponent briefly stunned, you sieze control of the situation, drawing Ana's side sword, you rush in, having your Wyvern slam into Ishmael's side an unleash a flurry of blows while your mount barrels into the winged tyrant. Your blade leave scours all over the flank you charged, dragon's blood splattering everywhere. Ishmael roars in pain as you hack into him. The green beast manages to smack you both off. You can see he has telling signs of injury, bleeding from his right side, his left eye has been burned shut.

Ishmael draws his maw back, a burning mist gathering in it, about to be expelled in your direction.

You feel your mental link strengthening

Your telepathically command your Wyvern to use it's flaming breathe weapon to counter Ishmael's. An potent torrent of flaming breath is loosed as your servant obeys. Ishmael releases his own breath, a deathly green mist. The two dragons circle in mid-air as their attacks collide, the Wyvern's fire burns the caustic air released by your terrible enemy, maintaining a standstill.

You deign it necessary to ask for the power of your patron demon lord, but channeling his power again will take some more effort.

The power gathered within is not nearly as much as when you faced the so-called Domitar Tree, however, it is sufficient. a bright flash launches from your forehead, and penetrates the eyes of Ishmael.

"URGH!!! WHAT IS THIS POWE-"

Before the oversized lizard can finish it's mental sentence, it roars in pain as it is bombarded by the Wyvern's white flame breath weapon. Losing control of it's body, Ishmael falls down in a smoking heap, where it ends up falling back onto the Aerie. You quickly chase after it as Ishmael plows into the tower beneath, it's skidding as it falls is loud and grating. It tries to right itself, but continues to stumble. The menace still has fight left in it, but for now, it is stunned.

As you land your mount you notice, despite the large number of enemy bodies piling, Gaius's men are being pushed back by the horde ascending from below. Ana notices your landing and calls out to you, halting the fighting. She is covered in blood.

"Drykos!!"

Ishmael continues to attempt to regain his composure. he seems to be able to stand, but completely without stability.

"Hold them back, we'll be outmaneuvered if they have enough room to surround us." Gaius instructs his white clad warriors.

You dismount, ordering the demi-dragon to help with the effort of pushing back it's former allies.

Immediately, you begin to feel the effects of your own battle-induced adrenaline. Your ribs feel like they were crushed by Ishmael's last attack, but you must not let that deter you.

You walk gingerly over to Ishmael who is in about the same condition you are, give or take. One of his eyes are blasted out and he bleeds heavily from the side, scales showing signs of damage from his fall. He notices you approach.

"If you think you can kill me alone, bookkeeper, come and try." Ishmael challenges you.

The next few attacks will decide this battle, and you must extract The Pilot once this foe is dead.

Even dragons gotta shit right? Besides, I'm sure we could dredge up some knowledge about dragon anatomy and surgery from the tower or some such. Even so, to simply say we forced an elder dragon to be our bitch is nice bragging rights. Or perhaps, make him our pilot?
>>
>>1856731
>>1856756

You focus on your opponent, you must figure out his weakness, so that you can best take him down. opening the third eye you scan the dragon, you can see The Pilot sitting in his stomache as you stare through the beast like a wet piece of paper. The injury from where he was bitten by the Wyvern glows, it is a fairly deep wound.

"I will gouge that eye out from your skull after I rip your head off!"

The Dragon Slams down on the ground and an power surges from it's claws as strong looking vines shoot at you from the point of impact as he slams his front leg down.

There is a mass of nasty-looking earth magic coming directly at you.

The first blow is shallow, but the next hit strikes true, a large gash across the weakened area. No problem, you have several powers available to you.

Before you know what happened, you are swatted out of the way and fall into tumble many yards away from where you just were. Terrible pain wracks your body as you fly away from the huge hit. You cough up blood as you slowly pick yourself up from the ground. You glance over to your dragon opponent. He is in bad shape scratching at the neck wound to no avail as it sputters copious amounts of blood, unable to right himself. You notice your sword still lodged in his neck.

You manage to stand up. coughing up more blood. You turn and see Gaius has noticed you in your sorry state.

"Milord!" You hear your general shout to you. He reaches to his side and throws his arming sword, which hums through the air. He is tackled to the ground for his efforts.

A faint hum and the dark-silver blade embeds itself at your feet, you pull it out and prepare for the last attack

You hobble to your foe, he does not react as the blood pools near his neck. He gazes upon you with eyes filled with loathing.

"Do it...Fool."

Approaching his head, you go in for the masterstroke. Gaius' sword held high, poised to strike.

>Finishing strike

In any case, it is likely I will start a new quest thread, but I will bid you adieu for the night. I will pre-emptively let you know that it will begin at 4:00PM if your interested.

Thank you very much for participating. I hope to see you in the next quest thread. I appreciate everyone who participated.

This was my first quest and thread ever and I thank you for going easy on me. It was fun and I hope more people might participate in the next one.
>>

Well, I haven't been able to participate much the last 2 days because I've worked back to back 12s with 6 hrs off between, I'll be at work tomorrow when you run but I should likely get off at a decent hour and be able to participate.

Pretty well run I should say, I like you writing and premise. Though I wonder if there's any plans for a long term run of the quest? Perhaps mastering the tower rather the tower being our master.

Standard DC 33 - Rolled 7, 74, 6: A valiant effort

>Attempt to mark the Dragon with a Sigil of Possession

You've had it with this dragon, he'd best serve you for an eternity, he doesn't deserve the sweet release of death. You plunge the sword into him and hew with the last bit of your strength.
Jabbing Gaius' sword into the creature's forehead proves simple enough. His sword is longer and heavier than Ana's, and you prefer it that way. You are hacking quite deftly into Ishmael's head initially, the sword gloeing as you hack through his skull like butter. Unfortunately your wounds catch up with you as you stumble and fall, the ferrous taste of blood wells up inside as punctured lungs caused it to ooze from your mouth. determined to see your work done, you continue to carve and finish the sigil. You manage to complete the hexagrammic design before dropping the sword to your feet and invoking the words of power that bind the dragon's soul to you. There is a profound silence as you finish the incantation. You curse yourself for your lack of haste in attempting such a feat. Ishmael is dead. Thinking it over, you suppose there are other ways to enact your punishment, but you are spent. Your tower is finally safe.

You turn to the entrance to the Aerie and are greeted by Ana, who supports you in righting yourself.

"Good riddance, stupid dragon." Ana remarks and then makes a "Hmph," sound, looking away from the carnage you caused.

"Excellent job, my lord." Gaius approaches.

grabbing his sword by your feet, Gaius walks to the dragon and slices it's stomach cleanly causing blood to leak everywhere.

"Look at yourself, your all beat up now, watch what your doing more next time, idiot." Ana pouts quietly in your ear.

Looking back, you notice Gaius' knights have been victories, only a few of them have fatal-looking rents in their armor, but the lot of them were still standing. The are checking the bodies to make sure every single one is dead.

"There it is my lord" Gaius dig his hand into the dragon and fishes out The Pilot. It gleams, though covered in dragon guts.

"With this we can finally locate the stolen items and locate your killer."
