Work on more efficiently being able fo mass produce arms and armour. Increase the use of enchanting making it standard in all Knightly armors to deflect magic and increase strength.

Investigation into the former Empress have yielded a lot of interesting results:
A lot of the Empress' personal finances were used for the purchase of Philosophers' Stones from Aeldabad - several of which were found. Some members of the Clockwork Guild - those higher-ups who are known to be non-Pantheonic - had knowledge of the matter. Furthermore, the Clockwork Guild was not the only faction in Roggar that had deals with the Aeldabadi - findings allude to at least two other influental factions, their precise identity uncertain, as being interested in the matter.
There are notes on the Empress studying soul magic, namely astral projection - with mentions of a Winter elf tutor.
Parts of the Empress' personal correspondance were also uncovered. In one old letter, the former Duke Swift-Hands wrote Wave: "The den of darkness and corruption lies in the Virism". Another letter, this time from the (presumably) former Duke of Virinum stated explicitly that if Wave wanted to go into hiding she could be sent blind folded to the duke and be brought to a hidden valley. Another memo from a member of the Empress' Shadowguard remarked upon "Prisoners dissapearing for Greenhaven".

Furthermore, it has been made public knowledge that Wave, as a higher servant of the Vast Gods, had the ability to put a "Mark" on any given person she touched, which would allow her to listen and see to what said person was experiencing. Wave made sure to Mark all her direct subordinates - the ceremony that included a vassal or official kneeling before the Empress, with her putting her hand on their head, was used to that effect.

This information is a combination of findings from investigators across the Holy Pantheonic Empire, submitted to the Emperor by Judge Archibald Grant of Ellstelg. Judge Grant, who by his own words "Speaks in the name of Juras Himself", and his associates have been investigating these matters even during the reign of Empress Wave - now the report has been made public knowledge by the new Emperor, who wishes to distance himself and his administration from that of Wave. As far as the Vast Marks are concerned, Judge Grant has said that some of them are still potentially active, but a method developed by an associate of his - a Selaveni Priestess of Domna, Maria de las Mercedes - is capable of safely purging these Marks. The dwarven Judge has also contributed to numerous arrests among members of the Empress' administration.
Assets that could be seized from the Empress' belongings and confirmed conspirators and Vast worshippers - which includes the top echelons of the United Bank of the Empire, led by Zilyana Serebrin, are being redistributed for the purpose of the war.

As for war-related news:
In regards to war industry - production in Roggar hasn't been particularly exceptional in terms of volume or quality in recent months, but there is one good thing of note - Emperor Maldam Kragnan II has had his subordinates provide all members of the Holy Pantheonic Empire with schematics and instructions into a new method of mass-producing armor, known as 'munitions armor' - in terms of quality it is nothing exceptional, but the methodology used allows remarkable quantity output compared to old methods.
In Ranelirda our alliance has advanced on all fronts but one - ours. The Paitran army and navy were attacked at sea by massive sea creatures, with great storms and whirlpools being magically summoned in addition to their beastly attacks. A portion of King Charlion's Army made it to Gobbotopia, which is now under siege, with all settlements south of it having fallen to the enemy's advance.

While this is going on, in Hajatas a Roggarian expedition is still only halfway through its journey.
What should we turn our perspective to?

Resuming the expedition perspective from where we left off!
A summary of what we've seen so far:
Kamborash is a land in turmoil - the peace treaty with the Rhoznaxi meant that they'd pull their armies out, but the Kingdom is facing its own troubles. The capital, Kambor, is held by the Remnant Dawn and various followers of Arthur Whitevayne - the man himself escaped when the Rhoznaxi tried to catch him and his present location is unknown.
Arboria and the region around it are held by Prince Gatob Kirzar, oldest living son of the last King, Forzand - the Prince has been amassing riches and trying to gather support for his effort to retake what he considers his rightful crown. Some of the Roggarians on the expedition nominally pledged some support for him.
Journeying west, into the central rainforests, the expedition passed through danger to find the lands that the goblin rebellion has liberated for itself - you met with their leader, Girk the Swift Hand, who spoke of his intent to liberate all goblins in Kamborash and to reform the Petrakhi Kingdom of old - the Gobbopolian members of the expedition in particular expressed willingness to aid him.
Journeying south, you most recently reached the great city of Vozgid - ruled by Archmagus Nekgin Zatnelgam, the city and its region are well developed, having fended off the Caliphate's offensives during the war. You spent a day roaming around the city freely - now it is the Second of Jurias, 815 - while back in Roggar the findings from Wave Investigations are being published now, you here in the expedition(being everyone who was sent last thread, with the option of players who didn't send anyone to retcon in a small group now) are now having breakfast.
You're all gathered on the first floor of the inn you've all rented for your stay to discuss what should be done next.

"I told you we should have turned left at Arboria!" the goblin captain yelled at his lietenant.

Captain Gnerriord and Lieutenant Pinces of the Green Hand Company are joining the expedition.

Meanwhile a human stumbles up from a bush he fell in last night.
"Fucking goblins and orcs and their shitty and inferior drinks."

Dai " lóegoac" Brys from the Order of the Boar is joining the expedition.

The Great Gobbopolian Warships sailed into port behind the ragged Paitran fleet, the head of a great sea serpent hanging from the prow, the ships undamaged and manned by skilled Sea elf sailors. As the first gangplank was thrust onto the dock Duke Foreman Swift-Hands the Third was down it, his armor sparkling in the sun, the Conqueror of Ferhom had returned.

From these great ships unloaded the most elite forces of all of Gobbodom, the Pikemen of Booty Bay, the Goat Riders of Hist, the Bovine Guard of the Swamp, the Knight-Mares of Gobbopolis, the Mountain Guard of Stoman’s Gate, the Griffin Knights of the Roost and every Knight the Duchy could muster. Massive Ward Golems lumbered off the ships, each making the dock tremble as they marched forward with the army.

Lastly from these great ships spilled grain, gunpowder and arms replenishing the stores of the beleaguered defenders. Crowds of goblins cheered as the army march in, it was not the biggest army to arrive but to the people of Gobbotopia it was a beacon of the might of Gobbopolis.

As you finish your breakfast, you are still in deliberations on the matter of whether the expedition should head to Uzhnor first or meet the local ruler. As you're sipping on your beverages of choice, a well-dressed orcish man enters the inn.
"Is this the place with the Roggarians? Riiiiight, here it is."
He orders some coffee from the bar before sitting down near you.
"Apparently one of you tried going to the Academic Circle yesterday and was denied access. We looked into it and found out that you're Roggarian diplomats, not just regular visitors." the orc takes a letter out of a bag.

"It's no big rush, we can go when you feel like it" the orc says, having taken the cup of coffee in his hands now.

Some time later you go with him, heading through the streets, into the inner part of the city and from there to the Academic Circle at the center of Vozgid - with your guide showing the letter with the Archmagus' seal to the sentries, you are allowed to enter.
The Circle is a large area, featuring campuses, schools, libraries, gardens, training areas and workshops - with the Cathedral of Charodei being at its other end from where you enter, the only place that is more publicly accessible.
The guide leads you through the Circle to one of the larger buildings - the Great Hall of Arcana, in which the Archmagus' Rectorate is located. You pass by many students - primarily orcs, but also a fair number of others - elves of the three main races, goblins, some humans and lizardmen.
The guide speaks to a fellow mage, asking about the Rector's whereabouts - you then head to one of the rooms in the building, where you find the man himself - tall, bald, with a well-kept beard, wearing robes of a shade of red. One of his eyes is hidden behind a monocle of some kind. The orc seals a large vial, leaving it on a table, before he turns to face you.
"Ah, greetings.Don't mind the little ones, guests." he says, possibly refering to the long-tailed creature on his shoulder. Or the others in the room.
"I am the Rector of this Academy, once official Archmagus of Kamborash, Nekgin Zatnelgam - as it stands, ruler of one part of this divided realm. From what I've heard, you've been travelling about for a while. Roggar has always been the northern nation most interested in our part of the world, so what interests you interests me.
Come to think about it, an office room might be a better place for a discussion than a laboratory. Come, let's find some place where you can sit down."
As you walk once again through the halls of the Rectorate, the orc speaks again:
"So, what have your impressions of our realm been so far?"
>>
>>1833096
"Pretty shattered."
>>
>>1833096
"A fractured people of a once bloated nation propped up by the genocide of my people and the support of the Eternians, who like always betrayed their allies to benefit themselves. At least the Pantheon stands strong here our I would have lost all faith in Orcs after speaking with Prince Gatob."
>>
>>1833096
It's alright.
>>
>>1833096
"It is a most fascinating nation my good lord. A vibrant culture and populated by the friendliest people I have ever met.
It's a shame that your current political situation is... rather complicated...
If I may ask, how are your relations to the other self governed areas of this former kingdom? We hope an aura of friendship of cooperation is promoted rather than one of civil war and intrigue naturally."
>>
>>1833096
"No one from milord's lands can be said to have any love for the Whitevaynes or any who have associated with them, so your lands are a fresh surprise. When I return home I think I will tell milord of this place as well. Reminds me of his lands, it does, with the distinct culture and research of magic. If you mean Kamborash as a whole, it seems a bit sectioned off. You know, what with all the different groups and such."
>>

"Short and to the point. Not wrong either - that's what most orcs like to hear. You are followers, rather than leaders."
>>1833120
"You say more about your own people so you can draw parallels between us, to close the distance and make you relatable. A good approach. You are someone promoting your own interest in this joint venture."
>>1833118
"You begin with compliments, express your concern, then start turning the conversation around so that you are the one asking questions. Fair enough, you are of a diplomatic sort and such is your duty here."
>>1833110
"Brutally honest, convinced of your own sense of righteousness, pointing out your foes right away, yet also claiming the moral high ground. Yes, that is an all-round good way to anger an orc. Good job, goblin knight."

You sit down in a well-illuminated room at last, after all the walking.

"Before I can answer your questions, I want to expand upon my own, so that I can know all you know."
The orc takes a seat on the largest chair, at the end of the table, the sun shining from the windows behind him.
"What have you learned from your talks with Prince Gatob and the rebel leader, Girk - and do you really believe what they've told you?"
>>
>>1833176
"For Gatob, he seems to have a pretty decent claim to the throne, being the blood of the former king and all.. As for Girk, I don't believe what he's told me. He plans to recreate a Goblin Kingdom of sorts, Claiming that goblins are Kings."
>>
>>1833176
"No, of course not, they are all promoting their self interest in hopes of gaining our support to press their claims on land and wealth. You will surely have some other opinion of what the truth is for sure. Much like us they look to find an option which is best for themselves as we tour Hajatas looking for who Roggar is most likely to back in this power struggle."
>>
>>1833176
"You are a most astute lord, your people are blessed to have you.
As I'm sure you can guess, both the prince and the rebel leader made grand claims regarding their own legitimacy, and were most interested in extracting promises of support from us.
As for believing them... The good Prince Gatob was not one to act like a a man of moral integrity while bragging about his own greatness, and the goblins were quite loud regarding their own moral righteousness but made similar grand claims that could not be verified.
If I may yet again venture to ask, what are your esteemed views on these two individuals?"
>>
>>1833176
"The problem is the fact that each here group is looking for the backing of Roggarians, yet missing the fact that while we an't on the verge of fracturing, we're at least as divided culturally. Seems silly, considering we wiped the Eternians merely a few years ago. Then again, if they're just lookin' for the good Duke Swift-Hands' investment, then they'd be playing it smart. But none factor in Rhoznax involvement or other foreign parties, right? I did notice the other races in the lobby, after all - you seem the most varied in the pickins."
>>
>>1833176
"I think they're both men with grand ambitions of restoring the ruined kingdoms of their people, and they might be able to do so. But...they will fall under the heels of Darks empire through their squabbling."
>>
"Gatob has probably told you of all his great deeds and how he is rightful king of Kamborash while promising you rewards if you aid him. He was never cut out to be King, he cares too much about wealth and pleasure - to him, the crown and the throne are posessions that have belonged to his family and, as such, should be passed over to him. Gatob was not Forzand's firstborn and he wasn't expected to become King before this war. Do you want to know what he did during the war? He led the forces he was given into a massacre, escaped like a coward and hid behind the capital's walls - his mistakes let the enemy reach Kambor's perimeter. When he saw the assassin killing his father and older brother, he hid again. He got his croneys together and took all the gold he could from the Treasury and then ran away, hiding in the mountains and waiting for the war to blow over. When it did, he tried to go to Kambor, but found the capital being held by Arthur Whitevayne - so he went to Arboria, telling everyone that he was rallying forces to liberate the capital. And so they let him in and allowed him to be in charge of the city. And what has he done since then? Gotten even fatter and richer than before.
Titles in Kamborash are hereditary, but when the heir announces that he is taking on the power passed down to him, that heir may be challenged for his position. Even if there were no fighting in the Kingdom, if the peace deal had meant real peace, I am sure that Gatob would not have been able to sit on the throne. The King would be one of those currently leading the three Tribal Unions - all young, talented men with real conviction in their hearts. Gatob won't sit on the throne without substantial foreign aid - and he could become a puppet of another Empire that way.

That is what I think about Gatob.
Now, about Girk - tell me, while going around his lands you probably didn't see any orcs. All that territory completely ruled by goblins, who were servants of the local lords until not long ago. How do you think they managed to "free" these lands? Did you see any grand goblin army, one that could face an orcish force and defeat it?"
>>
>>1833262
"When you mention it, we was never shown a parade of goblin troops with banners and heraldry no. We merely assumed their troops were elsewhere, as that was what this Girk told us. And we saw no reason to disbelieve him.
Are you then implying that he received backing from... other forces?"
>>
>>1833262
"I cannot say but I'm sure you will inform me how he "freed" those lands."
>>
>>1833262
"He most likely rebelled when the kingdom forces withdrew to the fronts and started using hit and run tactics to win."
>>
>>1833262
"A setup of sorts by a third party? That could only be Rhoznaxi, right?"
>>
"The goblins haven't faced a proper orcish army on the field. The fact that the orcs on territories they've conquered simply seem to dissapear is suspicious as well. They either have some secret weapon, the backing of a foreign power - or both."
"Other than Gatob, the goblins and myself, there are three other factions of note here in Kamborash - the tribal unions, from the different regions. My goal is to unite them and to take back our Kingdom with our own power. If outsiders wish to help, they may - but we must learn from our mistakes. Trusting the Eternians so much, relying on them for everything - yes, some centuries ago they helped us a lot. But just as the sins of the father should not be born by the son, so should the reverse be true.
You probably think orcs are stupid. That we are brutes who are easily manipulated - perhaps that is true. And that is why I believe that we must take our destiny into our own hands and grasp it firmly."
>>
>>1833313
"Eh, milord will probably do what his forefathers did and send medical aid. That's alright, right?

As for the stupid remark, you're the first damn proper smart orc I've met, but I've only been in the business of the meeting of orcs for however long we've been here."
>>
>>1833313
"I do not think you stupid or brutish, I see you as a people trying to achieve your own destiny. Yet you would achieve this destiny by crushing my own people. I was hoping you would be able to give me some sort of compromise, to show me that not all orcs simply have a flagrant disregard for a goblins right to rule themselves. However all you do is try to spread mistrust towards what is my kin. No race is superior in the eyes of the Pantheon, such sentiments lead to the downfall of the Eternians."
>>
>>1833313
"I see. You're then as unenlightened as we are regarding the source of the power of these rebels then, and speculation will get us nowhere for the time being.
Then, do you desire to unite the tribals by diplomacy and march on the capital with you at the head of the army then?

Regarding your comment about outsiders being allowed to assist you... As I'm sure you understand the more direct requests from your competitors will seem far more appealing to our taskmasters at home.
But I'm sure you would like to receive assistance in accomplishing your grand designs, is there nothing we can promise our lords back home on your behalf?"
>>
>>1833313
"Your desire to seize your destiny on your own is admirable and I respect that but we are all brothers and sisters under the pantheon and to allow you to face this threat alone wouldn't be right. Though the issues you and the goblins have with each other would need to be resolved before you make any progress towards taking back your home from the forces of darkness."
>>
>>1833313
"Aye, you orcs are easily manipulated and some might even say dumb, but that is just an effect of having an inferior culture and there is no helping that.

Thankfully you follow the pantheon so you have some saving graces, use that and you might unite yourselves.

Regarding the gobbos, it seems like you are hinting at a possible heresy among them, if that is true then it is only right to have them purged."

"Let me tell you of the Tribal Unions.
The different regions of our Kingdom had their own cultural affinities - you've probably seen the difference between the people of Vozgid and the people of Arboria already. These two cities are the oldest major settlements of our race in these lands. Beyond them, in the rest of Kamborash, the orcs still keep to somewhat older customs of blood bonds, expanded families, clans and tribes - that is not to say they all live like savages, but they are a more traditional-minded sort.
The Mazon tribes are frontiersmen, warriors and settlers through-and-through. They are distrustful of all other races, having fought ogres for so long, having been at the frontline of three wars against the Rhoznaxi. Their leader is Smobor Garchot - he was once a student of mine and when his father died during the war, he went on to lead his people again. He is a fanatic, extremely pious, yet hateful of all who are not like him.
The Stagor Tribes to the south have lived with - or, oftentimes, ruled over - a big chunk of the goblin population of Kambor. Their region is practically at the edge of the civilized world - beyond their southernmost outposts lies the endless desert. Kavon Nezimk is their leader - a young man, he was also my student until recently. He and Smobor were rivals - Smobor was more pious, more diligent, but also harder to reason with. Kavom was always lazier - he had talent and he is a kinder soul, yes. His father was cruel towards the goblins in his region and they rose up, killing him and half his family. He was not one to hate the other races when I knew him, but when he left for Uzhnor he may have changed his heart.
Those two may have common enemies, but they aim for the same goal and they don't want the other to be King. I have been trying to get them to put aside their differences, but it hasn't been easy.
And then there's the Yadung - they were never as united before as they are now. They knew no single leader before, yet now they all seem to have lost their minds - or perhaps they know better than me. That region has been united by a boy - not even sixteen years of age as far as I know, one Drousdorb Echnih. They say he's chosen by the Gods themselves - strong, fast, brave, a model orc if there ever was. Like someone from the old folk tales.

I don't plan on being King. I am an old man who knows the world. So tell me, Roggarians - if you were me, what would you do?"

"Hahahahahaha, if i was you i would support Smobor, after all a man that is pious and is true to his culture and race can't be in the wrong. That being said its a shame he holds and culture and race clearly inferior but nothing can be done there.

You tell me what do orcs recognise and respect the most in their leaders?"
>>
>>1833422
"As we mentioned earlier, Roggar would be interested in providing you with support where you only to give some promises regarding trade and working out a peaceful agreements with the kinsmen of the good baron here.
Such is my advice, to reconsider your earlier skepticism regarding the goblin rebels and foreign backers.

With us at your back, and the goblins at your flanks, your position in negotiations with the tribal leaders would increase tenfold, making them far more likely to take your advice regarding cooperation and unity."
>>
>>1833422
"Drousdorb would probably be your best bet since the other the tribal leaders are likely to start tearing into each other the moment they think they've got the chance. If that chosen by the god stuff has any credence it will give him some legitimacy, as for his age your a wise orc as are many people in this city they can help guide him."
>>
The orc faintly smiles.
"Good ideas all. Well then, what do you intend to do now? Do you wish to ask anything of me, to offer anything or to seek to learn from me?"
>>
>>1833481
"I've given you many questions already, and I'm sure a man with your keen memory got no problem remembering them. Would you like me to repeat them then?"
>>
>>1833484
"Forgive me, mu rudeness is unacceptable.
If I may repeat myself, your grace:
Regarding your comment previously about outsiders being allowed to assist you... As I'm sure you understand the more direct requests from your competitors will seem far more appealing to our taskmasters at home.
But I'm sure you would like to receive assistance in accomplishing your grand designs, is there nothing we can promise our lords back home on your behalf?"
>>
>>1833481
Activating his brain power to the fullest extent Dai manages to remember the question he wanted the answers on.

"Aye i gotta question. Personally i care little about you mages and your little spells but you show an aura of a smart man much like myself, Alas my Lord Commander Ser Robert has instructioned me to ask people of knowledge about the animals one might find in the Draconic Calendar. He mentioned something about the Ape in Hajatas."
>>
>>1833481
"Have you heard anything about the Titans who make their homes in the center of Hajatas?"
>>
>>1833508
"If I may make another request of you.
My lords back home in Trusted Defense appointed me their ambassador to this country, to seek promotion of diplomacy and cooperation between our people and yours.
Of all the places we have visited, you seem by far the most capable and able administrator, with noble designs, a true moral conviction and a well-ordered society. Would you allow me to remain here in the future, to further advice you and seek mutually beneficial agreements for our two nations?"
>>
>>1833484
"In regards to the other self-governed areas - I still believe in the entity of Kamborash as a Kingdom. The goblins have rebelled against it and killed orcs - I will first seek to learn more about their forces, then find a way to put the rebels down.
I do not have any feud with any of the Tribal Unions - in fact, I want to unite them. When they are together under one leader and when we retake Kambor, Gatob will surrender to the new King. He could be a problem only if he makes a deal with some other nation that could endanger everything.
I answered your second question.
As for your third, again, I do not yet have confirmation on what Girk's forces are and who backs him.
If you want to promise your lords back home something, it is that if they support us, a Pantheonic Kingdom on Hajatas will continue to exist, one that is a thorn in Dark's side should he choose to oppose Our Gods. A stable, united Kamborash is something the Pantheonic world as a whole benefits from. A scattered group of warlords and petty Kings will be easy prey for our common foes."
>>1833521
"The Ape? Hmm, that's an interesting thing - we have been studying these more esoteric queries here over the years. Old folklore speaks of the Sixteen Elemental Animals as something akin to the Titans and Dragons - a type of Demigod that existed before the Storm. There is mentin of the Great Ape within the tales of the Yadungi, Zhongi literature has on at least one occasion mentioned a similar being. Historical tomes pertaining to Evalamis also speak vaguely of Demigods allied to some old elvish emperors which may very well have been these "Beast Gods" as some call them."
>>1833524
"I've heard that Goranak the Firelord was slain by Toimibon. Toimibon, of course, is an ally of Anavark - with Dark himself being their overlord. Toimibon has not left Hajatas, which likely means that Ahinashada is still a factor that he must consider.""
>>1833556
"You're a wise and reasonable person - I see no reason to deny you on this matter. You may remain, I hope you enjoy your stay and do your job well."
>>
>>1833562
"Do you know if any of the Beast Gods still exist? If so, do you have any clue as to where they may be?"
>>
>>1833579
"A no to both. If such Gods really did exist once, they no longer do. That or they are hidden very, very well."
>>
>>1833562
"I am most grateful for your hospitality and patience with indulging our curiosity.
As for a Pantheonic kingdom to remain here, I do agree with your assesment that it is indeed in our interest.
But, for a diplomatic agreement to be reached, I would like to urge you to reconsider putting the goblin rebels down. As the baron here can tell you, his Duke back home would gladly shower this land in gold and weaponry if a reasonable compromise could be reached for giving the goblins a better deal than what they had as slaves previously."
>>
>>1833606
"We could ban the practice of slavery. That would legally put us on the same level as Roggar. "
>>
>>1833628
"If you were perhaps willing to placate the goblin rebels with their own sub-states within the Kingdom of Kamborash, such as the duchy of Gobbopolis exists within Roggar I'm sure my Duke would be eager to support you but... simply outlawing slavery will result in serfdom and you would insult our intelligence by implying orcish lords over goblin serfs would be preferable."
>>
>>1833628
"I believe such a promise might indeed be enough to convince both the duke of gobbopolis and this Gerk to offer you their cooperation.
What say you good baron Sword-Arm, is this something your liege would be interested in?"
>>
>>1833653
"I will make no promises that can't be kept. Give an inch and you'll take a mile - we give the goblins their own land, their own lords. Because you asked that we do so. They grow in numbers. Their land is not enough. They start to spill out into our lands. Orcs become a smaller part while goblins become a greater part of Kamborash.
Maybe we will give the goblins their own land - when we get to it. It won't be that Girk who rules them - if we allow that, we allow ourselves to bow down before rebels. That means that if goblins somewhere else decide they want more, they rebel and we have to give them more and more. No, the rebel leaders will not stand beside the lords of Kamborash. Perhaps some other goblin, some day. Or maybe we'll just send all the goblins over to your Kingdom, since you like them so much."
>>
>>1833710
"If your grace would be interested, we could seek out this Girk once again and gauge his attitude towards outlawing of slavery as an acceptable compromise for his people.
And while there, we could perhaps carry out inquiries regarding this matter of... unidentified support?"
>>
>>1833719
"Go ahead, you're guests, not prisoners."
>>
>>1833710
"I see, you nothing more then another racist who stands against giving his Pantheonic brothers the ability to rule themselves simply because of his own greed and fear. I had such high hopes that a learned and wise Archamagus would understand. All races are equal in the eyes of the Pantheon and it will be your downfall too, just like the Kulugar, just like the Eternians and just like any other who stands against the Pantheon and Goblinkind. I would think one so interested in us would understand more of history. "
>>
>>1833738
"Good baron please. An outlawing of slavery and the possibility for a goblin lord in the future is by no means a bad offer. At least you should consider carefully before responding in such a manner."
>>
The Baron storms out of the building. The Archmagus sighs, bids the rest of you farewell, saying he has other business to attend to.

Well, what now?

“Well, respected Archmagus of Kamborash, we are most grateful for you giving us so much of your time. You may have taken a wrong turn, you think, as you find yourselves near the foot of some mountains, a river source nearby - this location must be somewhere near the border with the goblin territories. You find two orcs hunting in these jungles and ask them for directions, saying you wish to find that child-leader of the Yadungi. By some freak accident, it seems by going in the wrong direction you went right where he was! Drousdorb Echnih, Chieftain of the Yadung Tribal Union, is camped close by with an army of his.
You find the camp without too much trouble - it's no fortified military base, being little more than temporary shelter in the woods. It is somewhat hard to gouge the number of orcs here - they're constantly coming and going, bringing freshly caught animals, fruits and materials to the camp.
Their leader isn't here either. No one's really stopped you from entering the camp, though you are being watched - seems you've got some free time to yourselves.

You found no books here, or at least none that the orcs would give you. An elderly man did speak of the old folk tales - of the Great Ape who mentored the first orcish hero,Yargol - and how Yargol freed the orcs from the slavery of lizardmen and became the first orcish Warchief. According to these folk tales, the lizardmen later took revenge, killing the Ape God with the help of their Dragons and enslaving the orcs once more, scattering them across the world.

The orc that gave Aldric the drinking horn is soon surrounded by others of his race.
"Chieftain! You're back from your hunt?"
"Yeaaahh, it's over there" he points to a well-built female orc carrying the corpse of a reptile almost her size over her shoulder.
A number of orcs grunt and nod their heads, saying "She's a great catch, Chief". These orcs must be expert hunters if they can tell the reptile's a female, you conclude.

The sun is setting and the orcs have gathered in the camp - bonfires are lit and fresh meat is being cooked, drums are brought out, drinks are being served - a feast will be held!
That young orc is apparently the chieftain you've been looking for - he welcomes you all to his camp and invites you to partake in the festivities as today is his sixteenth birthday.

The Chieftain invites those Roggarian leaders who want to speak to him over to his tent. There he and the huntress from earlier are sat down.
"I hope you're enjoying your stay here so far, Roggarians. Before you all get too drunk we should speak - you're probably at that nice buzz right now where words come out easier, but your thoughts are still yours.
I am Drousdorb Echnih, the Chieftain of the Yadungi. You probably haven't come here all the way from Roggar just to have some fun - though by the looks of it some of you might choose to stay here for it."
The orcess nods ever so slightly towards him.
"So, let us speak on matters of diplomacy. I am
Strevdia Kirzar, daughter of the Last King. My man and I will hear you out." the she-orc says.
>>
>>1834399
"I'm sure you can guess our intentions here easily enough.
Roggar is ever eager for allies, especially those of the same faith. Thus us here, our mission to seek allies and promote cooperation and all that stuff.

You interested in the Roggarian crown providing you with support?"
>>
>>1834399
"Oh? We met your brother, he looked like a swell guy.

We have heard about you young chieftain. Someone who has taken to uniting the Yadungi. You orcs love your violence and showing of strenght, don't you? Does that mean you will try and become king?"
>>
>>1834399
We came from Roggar to see how things have been doing down here. Our reports said the fighting was brutal and the Kingdom is dealing with a lot of post war strife, good to see your people are working on getting things back together."
>>
>>1834425
"If you're offering to support us, your aid is welcome." the man says
"Though we'd like to hear if you have any conditions to your support" says the woman
"If you've met my brother, you've probably been offered great rewards if you help him sit on the throne. He is unworthy."
>>1834436
Rather than get offended, the young chief laughs and flexes his impressive muscles - for a sixteen-year old, he has the body of an elite, trained athlete - not a single ounce of excess fat as far as you see.
"Yes we do. Yes - I will be King. I have united all the clans and tribes of the northwest by now. I will liberate Kambor and I'll take on anyone who claims to be King - because the strongest one must rule. And I will use my strength for the good of my people, as is right."
>>1834446
"By the end of the year Kamborash will see peace once more when I've put an end to this fighting, friend." the young orc says confidently
>>
>>1834505
"What do you think of Goblins young chief?"
>>
>>1834505
"I assume it's the usual requests regarding protection of the Pantheonic religion and future trade agreements.
And, as the baron brought up, the issue of goblin slavery and such.

I guess my sickly master resting in his tent would try to worm you into speaking your mind on the goblin rebels and the arcmagus type to the south. Are they enemies or could you work with them in the right situation?"
>>
>>1834508
"Goblins are our little cousins, that's what my grandmother taught me. They're weaker, but they can be smart and they can grow fast. My only problem with them is that Girk and his rebellion - if he wants to sit on the throne, he'll have to fight me. If he wants to split off from the Kingdom - he'll also have to fight me. He's attacked the lands of friendly clans and none of them have come back. He's not making it any easier for most orcs to like goblins."
>>1834524
"We can work with slavery, but we don't need it necessarily if that's what you're asking. As far as the Archmagus is concerned - I haven't met him and I don't know what he's planning, but I think I'll find out soon."
>>
>>1834533
"Considering how your people have enslaved mine for centuries you can see it is hard for goblins to like orcs either. If you become King would you be willing to allow the goblins to govern their own land?"
>>
>>1834533
"We spoke with the Archmage Rectorate about the situation. We think you might be able to take the throne since the other two leaders are rivals who may start waging war between each other to pursue petty goals that would weaken the kingdom. As for the Goblins, there's the possibility you could make them into comrades if you promise to make them equals with the orcs in the restored Kingdom."
>>
>>1834533
"Tell me, Chieftan Drousdorb are you a pious man? Only those who walk in the light of the Pantheon have a right to rule.

Might that comes from abandoning the gods is in the end heresy and something to be purged."
>>
>>1834533
"Archmage seemed like a nice lad, but so do you, so I'm not sure what the situation will be. I personally prefer you to most if not all the possible alternatives, but words don't count for much I suppose. Any of the faith would be nice if I'm honest."
>>
>>1834547
>>1834550
"I'm not against letting goblins be able to rule themselves." he says
"The other leaders - and many orcs in general - won't be too happy about the goblins just being given what they want." the woman says "What we'll do is retake the throne, force the rebels to surrender, kill or banish their leaders and only then abolish slavery and grant them land of their own. If we're giving them something, we'll give it to someone of our choosing. If Girk wants everything for himself, he can try and take it."
>>1834550
"I'll have to speak to that Archmage myself then - maybe we can be allies, rather than enemies. That would be good, yes."
>>1834564
"I believe in the Pantheon, yes - but I'm not someone who goes to the temple to pray every day. The Gods have clearly gifted me, chosen me to be a man among men. Some are born weaker, others are born stronger - that is what the gods decide, I believe."
He flexes his muscles once more
>>
>>1834607
What's your opinion on the Empire and the Emperor then? Seeing as the latest one got chosen by Bathal. I imagine a fight 'tween ya'd be satisfying to see.
>>
>>1834665
"It's your Empire, your rules. The Gods give us what we have at birth and we make our destinies with it. Your Emperor is a dwarf - maybe I'll get to fight him one day and show him that orcs are stronger, hah! And maybe then I'll be Emperor, who knows."
He smiles widely
"Well, Roggarians - will you support me? I will retake Kambor, abolish slavery, give the goblins land of their own, but also punish the rebel leaders;I will rule this land well and I'll be a friend to my people's friends. The expeditionary party heads off to see Girk once again....
Meanwhile, on Ranelirda:
The Tribes of Tornomk have continued their advance north - they have taken the town of Sormor and our forces are pushed back to Gobbotopia.
Currently our forces garrisoned in and near the city are as follows:
25 000 members of the Royal Roggarian Army and various faction troops in support
15 000 Gobbopolian troops - two/thirds of which are those who had just arrived, led by their Duke, Foreman Swift-Hands III
20 000 Aurileni troops
25 000 Paitran forces
For a total of eighty-five thousand fighting men.
The city is overflowing with refugees from the south and food supplies won't last long with so many people behind the walls. Tribesmen have taken positions south and west of the city. The last few smaller engagements we had with the enemy all ended disasterously for us, with the few survivors who made it back speaking of a massive, moving object being seen in the distance in the direction that the enemy came from.
The Paitrans, led by their King, recently arrived as well - their journey by sea was not so pleasant, however, as their fleet was attacked by sea serpents, krakens and other vile creatures - some speak of having seen something - something much bigger than any creature of the sea they'd seen before.
The successful arrival of Duke Swift-Hands on the other hand did raise morale among the goblins in the city, but that may not last for too long if we don't change the situation. There simply isn't enough food for everyone here and we are surrounded by enemies on just about all sides.
What should we do on this front?
>>
>>1836422
Attempt to Sally forth towards the west, and link up with Elven Forces in Ferholm, getting much needed food and supplies, as well as a route for the HElves to send us aid/reinforcements, perhaps coordinate this push with a HElf push towards the East
>>
>>1836422
"I suggest moving out with a substantial army, to strike a blow against the enemy and giving them a suitably bloody nose before retreating to the safety of our walls.
We need to raise our morale and remind the enemy that they should not be too bold.

Meanwhile we should utilize all available ships to ferry refugees out of the area, be it to the High Elven colonies, to our allies in the east or to our own colonies other places in the new world.
The less extra mouths in the city the better, simple as that."

Might be the best option we've got. We'll focus on taking out tribal forces to the west. We can contact the High elven forces at Fehron to see if they have troops to spare in taking out the western tribal army.

"I concur with Feyd. The boost of morale is essential at this point, and getting the refugees out of here is important. However, I do think we should send a limited number of ships - if the beasts attack once more, the dead and broken ships will be quite a punishment. We must move swiftly."

Aside from the armies, we have 20 galleons, 6 caravels and one superboat from the Roggarian navy, four dozen merchant ships of various sizes, their armaments varying and twenty two Paitran ships in the bay. There are sea monsters lurking outside - no proper enemy fleet so far.
The Aurileni have thirty thousand men at Ferhom itself, another twenty thousand west of it - they once again repelled a felinkot offensive. The Dominion's navy has struck a number of blows against the Felinkot at sea.
The enemies on land, outside our walls, are over a hundred thousand strong we believe. They've started pillaging the countryside, looking to deny us any and all supplies. Most have by now moved from being south of the city to the western and northern farmlands.

Most of the army is able to make it back to the city.
Asessments are being made and it is estimated that from our 84k troops, we had ten thousand dead and thirty thousand wounded, nearly ten thousand of which heavily.
The elves will need at least two and a half days to get here - but you're not quite sure if you'll have the luxury of time.
Dawn breaks and the enemy's preparations for assault are undeterred. Those who were sleeping in the night are woken by the crashing sound of a massive boulder flung at the city walls. Eagle eyed sentries can see the source - what is likely Tornomk himself, picking up massive slabs from the earth and preparing to lob them at the city.

The troops are somewhat tired, but the commanders have to assemble now to decide on the next course of action.

"Lee's sent me here while he's out. I think we need to focus on making sure they can't hoodwink us like they have been doing - preparing to fight in the inner city would be smart, rather than staying by the walls where it could collapse and kill us, or they could rush in. Clear out the houses and other bits in the inner city - a clear plain gives them less things to use, and more space for us to use, which as far as I can tell we need more than they do. Lastly, let's survey which walls are going to be first to go - if we can identify that, we can anticipate where they'll strike. As for the Elves, I think we should fight in the city and wait for them. That way, they can flank the enemy as they charge in, and give us some element of surprise. Boats should be prepared though. Very prepared."

Tornomk bombards the city walls for hours on end - more than half a day passes, the outer walls have crumbled in multiple sections. Siege engines and cannons from the felinkot emplacements join in the bombardment.
The sun sets and they still haven't stopped - we managed to pull our forces into the center of the city, but there's not a lot of room to maneuver here with the amount of people we have - over a hundred thousand civilians on top of all our troops.
Around sundown there is a break in the bombardment - a group of several dozen of our own people, captured soldiers and civilians, are sent from the Felinkot to the city - they offer us one last chance to surrender.
"If everyone agrees to surrender and put down their weapons, there will be no more attacks on the city and you will be spared death. Earth would speak to your leaders. If only a part of the defenders choose to surrender, they will be spared, but the city will be razed with all inside. There is no way out."

The Roggarian leaders are refusing to back down, but among the common people and soldiers in the city there is still hesitation.
Bombardment continued through the night - the walls crumbling just about everywhere and much of the outer city being reduced to rubble. There were casualties as some projectiles reached our inner positions.
At dawn, King Charlion of Paitras has his men line up in the largest cleared space - he asks that everyone comes and listens. As people assemble in the central area, they back off a bit from a place where three earthen platforms rise up through magic, going several feet up so that the men on each of them can be seen.
Three platforms, an armoured man standing on each.
On one of the pillars, with the symbol of a wreath of grain on his shield, the first of the three speaks.
"I am Sir Emerich Ford of Lakton! Some of you may know me, perhaps we've fought together in the past - and you may have heard the tales told of Us. The Champions of the Pantheon - we are not mere fables, for we are here today besides you, in the flesh - to fight the enemy that would wipe us out and destroy all we hold dear! Tornomk's lobbed boulders deal heavy casualties - to both sides, though. Funnily enough, one of those boulders seals the breach through which the felinkot flooded in, halting their flow of reinforcements and allowing our troops to regroup and push the tribals back.
During the night we're only able to half-relax as the enemy also regroups, but doesn't let off harassing our positions.
A portion of our wounded soldiers are able to recover and be sent back into the fight - with most of the conventional healing supplies having long since been exhausted, the job falls to those who have healing magic however.
On the other hand, we have weapons to spare and are able to arm several thousand civilians.
Before dawnbreak the enemy renews their assault.

Tornomk - the Titan form of the Vast God Earth - now personally joins the fray of battle. In some places, the felinkot drop down in prayer, for their God has arrived.
Base value - 250
>>
Rolled 33, 43 = 76 (2d100)

We enter the perspective of the main battle - Tornomk advances on the city's defenders and it is up to the army(commanded by Centurion) and the three champions(Hare for Kovag, Erden for Zemel and Oldfag for Ezdar) to stop the Titan God - who I command.

With a base of 250, Tornomk rolls 2d100 - while the defenders have a combined base of 100 and each roll a d100

331(PANTH)vs. 326(TORNOMK)

The army on the ground is taking a heavy beating - the felinkot stopped praying, it seems, and took up their weapons again to fight - the Champions are doing well enough, with Ezdar's distractions giving Zemel's and Kovag's a chance to strike blows at the ground - restricting the titan's movements and his abilities to manipulate the earth.

Tornomk will try to get out of this binding now and stomp hard on the surface once he's clear.

Rolled 80 (1d100)

The Champion of Ezdar will now seek to go for targetted strikes, flying by the Chest and Head area, he empowers himself with some body strengthening and attempts to use the spear to pierce the rock skin of this earth titan.

The troops rally and face the felinkot - the tribals have lost all sense of tactics and formation and are simply relishing in mindless bloodshed, but the Pantheonic troops know discipline!
Tornomk breaks through all attempts to be bound and with his next stomp sends boulders and rubble flying, which hit both Emerich and Patrice. The earth-warding enchantments that Patrice had put on each of their armors helped soften the blows somewhat.
Tornomk, having taken damage from Gauthier's attacks, will try to get the knight off him with one hand, while with the other he'll reach for the closest buildings to manipulate with magic.

The army now begins the hammer and anvil to great effect, but they're not the only ones beating rocks into metal!
Rock Leo's body is covered entirely in rock as he enters Earth form - he attempts to summon Rock spears to impale both himself and his opponent - and it is a plan that could've worked against most, but his foe is Kovag - the one who breaks apart the earth and reforges it into a shape of his choice. Patrice's armor is enough to hold the attacks off while he melts through a small spot in the lion's defences, starting to burn at the cilenar's flesh.
Meanwhile, Emerich's endless barrages of earth and vine bind the titan in key points and stop his attacks from harming those on the ground - while Gauthier continues striking at the body of Tornomk.
The Earth Vast will try to shake the attackers off himself first before going into his own counterattack.

Gauthier's attacks are strong, but it's hard to pierce or cut the titan's shell - however, he is able to weaken it in spots, which Emerich finds and assaults with his own attacks - sending rocks at high velocities and growing vines that will start ripping layers of titanshell off.

Meanwhile, Patrice grabs the lion with his melting gauntlets, keeping him in place - the Harbinger's Earthen defences are being cracked in several places and his fur is getting burned hard.

The army is now hitting the felinkot hard, having split them up into several manageable groups. Meanwhile, out at sea, the Roggarian and Paitran navies, together with Aurileni and Anglanorse ships, are helping the Champions of Gyolas and Charodei to hold off Water - the latter trying to reinforce Earth's position.

Rock Leo's powerup removes the flames that had been burning him, but the axehead that struck his torso still did its damage - and then there was another hit, and another hit - when Rock moved in too close for the poleaxe to be used, Patrice let go of it with one hand, quickly drawing a pistol and firing it point-blank at the lion, sending him back several feet. Gervais is laying down a heavy beating on the Harbinger of Earth, even with him having gotten stronger.
Durant mounts a griffon and attempts several strikes at the titan, which are not very effective.
Belat's counteroffensive is highly successful, the felinkot are being battered.

Emerich, however, finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time - with Tornomk stomping down right on him. Using all his powers, Emerich manages not to get squashed into mush, instead being burried down in the ground, with some tough damage on his body. He manages to burrow his way out, though he's lost his weapons in the process.

Tornomk will try to help his army.
The enemy's base score is 300 now.

Gauthier, having received a war-hammer, realizes that in hindsight, this would've been a much better weapon to use, lucky he has it now! He flies towards Tornomk's face, dodging any attacks he may have, and empowered by Body Enhancement magic, will smash the warhammer right in Tornomk's face, hoping to daze him in some way and deal damage.

Gauthier's strikes hit hardened surfaces of the Titan's body - he's guarding himself against the Griffin knight actively now.
The army is making good progress, the casualties it's taking from the titan's attacks are low - the felinkot are almost beaten!
Patrice and Emerich fight Leo together - the lion deals small amounts of damage to each and takes some in return.

An attempt was made to pursue the enemy, but when casualties and wounds got too high it was called off.
Everyone who took part in the battle is now exhausted. The city is in ruins, most of the soldiers AND civilians who were inside are dead - but at least three quarters of the Felinkot force was also destroyed and Tornomk was wounded. We know the Vast Gods can be killed. It may not be today, but it will come - that moment of victory, be it distant or bittersweet like this one.

Word by spatial mages from Ranelirda has informed Dragonstomb of the end of the Siege of Gobbotopia. That front is where our alliance has been facing the most trouble.
Elsewhere across the Avorei Empire, with the arrival of Kragnan, Petrekshani and Lursari forces and the advancement of Rhoznaxi from the south, the Felinkot offensive has stalled and is now being pushed back.
We should expect news from the Trusted forces that went to Greskulm soon. We recieved word from Hajatas - spatial mages from the Academy of Vozgid informed us that our expedition is alive and well as of the moment they reached and left their city.

Back in Hajatas, around the same time...
The party has made its way to Girk's stronghold, where we see even more goblins gathered - and this time, a proper army by the looks of it - in the thousands, growing every day, with varied amounts of equipment, training and experience. Girk has the guards allow the leaders of our expedition(1 character per player) to enter his tower, where he meets you sitting on a smalll throne up some stairs.
"Warm greetings, friends! The people have been inspired by news of the support we expect from you. We're preparing to march out so we can liberate more settlements and eventually link up with our brothers in the south!"
"You are welcome in my Hall - chairs will be brought for you if you wish, so you can sit down and rest from your journeys. I hope the jungles have not been too harsh on you."
>>
>>1860153
"Me and my companions are most grateful for your kindness brave freedom fighter. Some chairs and refreshments would be most welcome indeed yes."

"I must say, we've travelled far these kast weeks and both seen and heard much. You would not believe the outlandish characters and claims we've encountered in our journeys good host."
>>
>>1860172
"Well, I can believe that. Like as not, you've met racists who spread lies and false claims in order to discredit me and our people's struggle for independence. Do not believe these voices."
>>
>>1860153
"How is the esteemed Girk? I trust gathering your forces wasnt a hassle?"
>>
>>1860153
"It hasn't been, no. Still though, we've been hearing rumors, we have. Not that I trust an orc, eh?"
>>
>>1860182
"The hatred for you and your kin is most undeserved.

But, many of those we've spoken to are not against entering into diplomatic talks with you and your fellow warriors. Both the arcmagus to our south and some brute warlord both offered outlawing slavery as an initial offer for diplomatic talks for example.

But, something we've heard mentioned several times, is a claim of you already having powerful allies, but nobody is entirely clear as to who they are. Would you mind if I enquire into this topic? We want to know who we'll be working with as I'm sure you understand."
>>
>>1860182
"I've been able to shift through the information they've given us trying to piece together whats real and whats biased. Though there is one thing that's got pondering. How have you been able to resist the myriad of enemies facing you?"
>>
>>1860183
"We are doing better than ever, thank you very much."
>>1860188
"Nor should you, to be frank."
>>1860218
"The orcs don't know how to deal with the fact that we have bested them. The fact IS that we have an army, we have freedom fighters and many goblin men and women across the realm who wish to see freedom. The orcs exhausted themselves in the war and then even more after with their infighting - to suspect us of having some hidden allies is their way of rationalizing in this situation. My people are all faithful Pantheonites - more so than the orcs. We were the first on this continent to accept the New Gods and we remain steadfast in our faith.
To simply explain our strategy and success so far - the orcs gravely underestimated us. They may be stronger physically, but we are faster, we stick together and have more cunning than those brutes. Not all of my people have fine equipment, that may be true, but we posess technology and accept its many uses - where possible, we deploy modern equipment to bear. We don't need outside allies - nor are there any we could gain, other than you. The Rhoznaxi are our enemies, they would treat us even worse than the orcs. If anything that Prince Gatob is the one who may turn and ally with the lizardmen."
"If the orcish warlords are willing to treat with us, I would not be opposed to hearing them out. I fight for the lives of my people, not necessarily the destruction of others."
>>
>>1860280
"That is good news, we have recently treated with the Orc Chieftain Drousdorb Echnih. I very faithful and reasonable Pantheonic Orc who shares a border with you. We would implore you to find support with each other and a common cause so we can support both of you in ensuring freedom from goblins and a strong Pantheonic nation in Hajatas."
>>
>>1860280
" I do however have another question, have you ever traveled into the great desert?"
>>
>>1860280
"Ah, I see.
The orcs down south told us wild tales of all orcs living in the areas liberated by your forces going missing, thus their claims of your secret allies I imagine.
I assume there's little truth to these stories, at best merely relocation of enemy civilians from the frontlines?"
>>
>>1860280
"With their human backers gone and destroyed, The orcs will fall and I have every faith that a strong Goblin kingdom will replace it bringing peace and stability back. All I ask is that I may bring the roggarians who still dwell here being tortured by orcs and sleeping in slums back to Roggarian lands such as my own."
>>
>>1860301
No - I've never stepped beyond the borders of Kamborash myself. Those I know who have been elsewhere in Hajatas are the goblin travellers from the east I mentioned the last time we met."
>>1860302
"This was a region sparsely populated by orcs - mostly plantation owners, slave masters, feudal landowners and soldiers. We killed those who fought us when we rose up - the rest have fled or are still in hiding around the region - we do still have skirmishes against such orcs. If they wish to leave, we let them go."
>>1860303
"Certainly, I can agree to the Roggarians being able to return home - if I can help, I will."
>>
>>1860330
"Do not listen to the human, we have no want for the Eternians, they are as Roggarian as dwarves. Would you be willing to meet and talk with the young Yadung chieftain?"
>>
>>1860330
"No need to concern yourself with the Eternian scum good lord, we have little need for them back home in Roggar.

As the baron said, would you like our assistance with meeting with either the Yadung chief or the Arcmagus? Both of them have expressed some willingness to engage in diplomacy with you."
>>
>>1860347

"Greetings to all here!
We are most pleased that you all deigned to meet for this occasion, hopefully this will be the day of reunification for Kamborash and eternal friendship between you and our own humble nation."
>>
In essence, the positions of the three parties are as follow:
The orcs will not concede to any of Kamborash's territory slipping away and going independent;
They are generally against giving major administrative concessions to the goblins.
They are willing to use a ban on slavery as a piece in negotiations.
The Archmagus is highly against letting Girk and the other leaders of the rebellion go unpunished and being allowed to rule.
He is still skeptical about the goblins and believes Girk has some secrets that must be revealed.

As for the goblins:
They definately demand a ban on slavery; They strongly want goblins to be able to rule as nobles in the Kingdom, preferably of their own areas. They say that independence is what they will fight for if they are not given sufficient concessions - and Girk says that by right of battle he and his people have earned the priviledge of ruling and should not have to martyr themselves any further.

Roggarians - do you have any proposals, promises, ideas for compromises?
>>
>>1865897
Give into all of the Orcs demands, deny any of the Goblins.
>>
>>1865897
"I think it best we start with resolving the tensions between the archmage and girk over these secrets he believes the goblin has."
>>
>>1865897
How about a ban on slavery and the creation of a number of goblin barons in the goblin dominated areas?
That way the goblins will have some self rule but their nobles still beneath the higher orcish nobility.
These goblin barons will obviously be individuals agreed upon by both parties, girk not being included on the list will hopefully be an acceptable sacrifice to the goblins.
>>
>>1865928
I'd have to support this.
Seems like some reasonable compromises on both sides.
But I'd also have to agree with taiwaz and see if we can resolve the tension between the archmage and girk as well
>>
Listening to the various propositions, Drousdorb yawns.
"Why don't we just settle it with a fight? Me against Girk. Either way the goblins will no longer be slaves, they'll rejoin the Kingdom and be allowed some local lords of their own people - but this thing about foreign backers and martyrs and whatnot has been dragging on for too long.
You want to be my vassal when I am King? If you can defeat me - or even stand your ground well enough for five minutes of honest dueling in a fighting pit - then you may remain as lord of the northern goblins. If not, you'll either die in the fight or go away. Maybe we'll exile you and see where those foreign backers are if you have anywhere to flee to."
"Five minutes. Use whatever you want against me - one on one. The Roggarian have a word for it - a Rog'gora."

"That seems like a ploy to have me eliminated. The odds are obviously stacked in your favour if we do this." Girk says
"What's the matter - scared of a sixteen-year old? If so, I'll fight with unarmed and I will wear nothing but a loincloth. If you want, I'll even skip that." the orc says with a grin.
>>
Girk, somewhat reluctantly, agrees to the fight.
Arrangements are made for a fighting pit to be made on-site and both fighters have a day to rest and prepare.
Bait controls the orc, Councilor controls the goblin here. Decide on what you'll do during the day and roll for it if you want to do anything with a degree of difficulty.

Rolled 1 (1d100)

Girk, aware that the burden of his people rests upon his frail shoulders, shall pray to the gods and request their blessing in the battle to come.

Drousdorb after talking to his wife in private begins practicing everything he'll need for the upcoming fight,

Disarming, Fighting enemies smaller then you, and Enemies that might have superior reach.

>>

Girk felt ill. A strange weakness, his knees were heavy and his palms were sweaty. He could not feel any response to his prayers - his own fears and doubts only drove him further to desperation and to the powder. A rush of energy and feeling of exhiliration kept him awake during the night, though by the time the duel was set to begin the effects of his first doses were fading.
>>1865983
Drousdorb, motivated about as much as he could by his wife's promise in the event of a successful fight, practiced a bit for the duel, refreshing his unarmed fighting skills and facing against a shorter orc with a wooden spear. He didn't train too long - he was confident enough already in his ability to win the fight.

Morning comes - the fighting pit is prepared, the spectators are aranged and the duelists enter from opposite sides.
As promised, Echnih wears nothing but a loincloth, showcasing his impressive build, but still managing to hide his manhood.
Girk is wearing normal summer clothes, nothing to weigh him down or give easily grabbable edges to the enemy. He's armed with a spear, a weapon he is familiar with, and has a dagger on the front side of his belt and one more at the back.
Three of the Roggarians are chosen as referees - the fighters are prepared and the signal is given for this Rog'gora to begin!

CHARGE
Move fast and low to close the distance and keep my eyes on his face and shoulders for a tell of when he's about to attack. One I'm near him disarm him of his spear. If this means breaking one of his arms so be it.

Waving to the crowd, girk attemps to look self assured and relaxed.
"I got this, no worries."

Then, spearpoint directed towards the orc, a dose of FLASH is directed towards the charging orc.
>>
With a base value of 30 over his enemy owed to his superiority in both physique and fighting skill, Drousdorb still holds an advantage over his enemy even with the given handicaps.

He charges in forward - moving faster than a man his size should be able to. He makes it within spear range before the goblin's flash is launched and grabs the haft with one arm and swings it around, throwing the goblin to one of the fighting pits' dirt walls, spear removed from his hand.

Drousdorb's manhood is now somewhat more visible as he seems to be enjoying himself.
>>
Rolled 7 (1d100)

Staggering to his feet, girk stutters "N... no fair. I was not ready."

Then, another attempt at illusion magic to befuddle the orcs vision, before taking to his feet and attempting to keep as much distance as possible.

"You thought that weapons or magic would be what makes the difference in this fight? When it comes down to it all that matters is ability your own courage. Now let me show you how big that difference really is."

Charge him again before he can get up and tackle him right into the wall.
Pressing him between my body and the wall.

That should break him
>>
Girk's drug-addled mind messed up the incantation and the spell faded away in his fingers before it could produce a flash.
Drousdorb's next charge went in shoulder-first, a tackle that smashed the goblin against the wall. Cracking sounds could be heard and Girk screamed in pain as he felt his body being squished between a rock and a hard place. Still, he's able to move - the tackle was not tooooooo forcefull - and the goblin, should he have the spirit, can continue the fight.

"Give up girk. This fight isn't going your way and you know it. You were already brave enough to step in here with me but I can already see that you're getting worn down. I'll give you this chance to surrender."

Upon seeing girk reach for the knife he sighs gripping the wrist holding the weapon clenching until he drops it. Afterwards he would throw girk to the side again.

"No? I can respect that. Regardless I can't afford to lose here."
>>
Drousdorb grabbed the wrist of his foe - far enough that the knife doesn't touch the orc's skin. Girk tried desperately to move it around - at least to do a small cut, anything, but the younger man's grasp was tight and the pain eventually made the goblin drop the dagger, the arm he was holding it with now useless.
>>
Rolled 31 (1d100)

Drousdorb would try another attempt to get him to admit defeat. After seeing girk make another attempt at magic he would slam the gobbo into the wall again. Just hard enough to hurt him and break his focus.
He would then grab that arm as well. Holding it but not breaking it...Yet.
>>
Once again, the goblin is beaten in before his spell could manifest itself fully - a tiny flicker of magical light illuminated the spot between the two, making both blink for a few seconds - during which time Drousdorb grabbed the goblin and pushed him headfirst into the wall - not enough to knock him out, but enough to make him even dizzier.
Thoughts are slow. Words are hard. Fight is bad. Foe is strong. This is what Girk knows.
Surrender? This is what his body asks his spirit.

"I'll never give up! Not when so close."
Try to bite his hand, stomp on his feet, anything to free himself.
Gotta gain distance and retrieve that dagger.

"And neither will I."
Drousdorb will push him harder against the wall.
Moving one arm under his throat to keep his head and body pinned as well as limit his ability to breah (Without asphyxiating him yet)

He'll also start applying more pressure to his arm while trying to ignore the kicks
>>
Girk was pushed against the wall, held up in the air - he flailed, kicking his foe with his legs, hitting with his arms, biting with his teeth - enough of a nuisance to weaken Drousdorb's hold on him, allowing him to breathe for now.

The orc suffers some injury- albeit light - but is keeping on pressure against his foe, whose body is struggling to keep up with the mind's demands.

"I ca... can't... I won't..."
Flail, spit, kick, bite, go for the second dagger in girk's belt, hacking away at his arm with it.

Grip his other hand once he pulls the dagger out. Ripping the dagger from his grasp.

"You can. And you will."
>>
Drousdorb gave his opponent enough time and space to take the dagger out, letting him out of his grasp - only to grip his hand again and rip the dagger away.
Both arms weak, breathing heavy, head hurting - Girk is in bad shape, barely holding himself up - and it is quite obvious that his opponent is being merciful with him.

"Stop mocking me!"
More desperate kicking, biting and flailing.
"Release me and fight me fairly you thug! Have you no pride?"
>>
>>1866057
"So what's next girk! Have you expended all your tricks? Do you finally understand? No sneaky trick or magical spell will win this fight for you. This is a battle of warriors, and you lost."

Throw him to the ground but not hard enough to give him any serious injuries.

"Well then. Pick up your weapons."

He turns to face the crowd.
"Let everyone see that I'm not scared to face any opponent regardless of what weapons they bare."

He folds his arms as he watches girk reclaim his weapons. Chest puffed out and standing confidently
>>
Drousdorb lets the goblin go. GIrk is able to pick up his weapons and steady himself up a bit - ready to fight again, though the gap between the two has only grown - with Drousdorb's condition giving him a base of 40 now.
>>

Grasping his first dagger in his remaining healthy hand, Girk snarls at the orc:
"You mock me you beast, think you can make me surrender with such fake displays of kindness?
My cause is just and I will use any means at my disposal to accomplish it. No matter how low the trick."

Then, another attempt at illusion magic to befuddle the senses of the brute.

"I give you chances and you call me a beast. I give you chances and you say that I mock you and you call yourself righteous to fuel your ego. I see that it is time we end this fight."

Charge at him again to grapple him then choke him out.
The time for mercy is over
>>
Both succeed in their plans - Girk's flash blinds the orc, but Drousdorb has already moved ahead enough that he can grab his oponent and start choking to knock him out.

"This is it you fool!"
Stab the blinded orc in the chest, it is for a good cause.
>>
Drousdorb's grip is tight and the goblin is eventually choked out and knocked unconsciouss, yet alive. Before that could happen, with the last of his strength, Girk stabbed the orc in the chest - the dagger did not go in deep. But it was enough - its tip reached the orc's blood vessels.
Drousdorb rose up victorious. He had shown mercy by not killing Girk, he had given him plenty of chances while at the same time displaying his own prowess. The goblins went in to carry the sleeping Girk out, while orcs started approaching Drousrob - before the young chieftain could shake the hand of the closest one, he winced in pain and fell down to one knee. His body was not obeying him. All his force of will, all his power, it could not combat what had entered his system. He struggled, managing to get up to his two feet again shakily.
"The promise-" he muttered out before his breath escaped him and the shivers overtook him. He fell down, the other orcs catching him. He is sweating profusely, trembling as the orcs are carrying him out of the pit.
By the fight's ruels, the orc won the duel before the five minutes had expired. But by the looks of it, the goblin's blade was poisoned. Drousdorb is brought out as orcs and goblins are shouting at each other.

You Roggarians are in the middle of all this. What will you do?

Councilor Zhou, knowing better than to stick around for a brewing riot, hides behind his two bodyguards as they carefully extract themselves from the crowd.
>>
>>1866127
"All of you quiet down! Get the best priest here to see to drousdorbs injury."
"We'll discuss what's next when the chief can speak."
>>

Sarita furrows her brow. The end to this fight left a bitter taste in her mouth. But that was a problem for later. For now we should try to instill some order and calm the crowd while we get Drousdorbs medical attention. Healing mages for the poison hopefully.
>>
>>1866127
The Nature magi run over to the orc, and start administering all the poison antidotes, be it magical or mundane they have at their disposal.

Here is roll
>>
The quick action of the nature mages present was able to stop the progression of the poison. It was also determined that the orc's sweat had spread it to those who'd touched him - but that it also only had an effect on orcs. Because the poison did not have enough time to spread around their bodies, with the aid of all present healers, guided by the Divatan priests, the afflicted were cured. Drousdorb was a harder case - but still treatable. His bodily functions had to be slowed down so that the poison in his blood would not spread - another type of poison was deployed by the Divatans, which effectively put him in a type of stasis so that the poison could be stopped.
The healers say that he'll survive, but he needs surgery and treatment in both magical and mundane ways - and in better conditions than on a wet rock in the jungle. He'll be out cold for a couple of days now.

Suffice to say, the relationship between the orcs and goblins has been strained even further by this.
"A quick-working, rapid-spreading and contageous poison that only seems to work on orcs - that's close enough to one of the Archmagus' theories. I will report these findings to him" the Vozgidian envoy says.

The Roggarian group is keeping the two other parties from tearing at each other's throats - for now. But what can be said of later? Both leaders and unconsciouss now and tensions are high.

"Now... come on everyone...
Surely nobody in his right mind would utilize such a poison for a situation like this... That would make no sense.

I mean, for all we know this might be an Anavarkist ploy to set you against each other. Surely it would be best to wait for the two involved to wake up and hear what they have to say?
Let us remain cool and don't do anything too rash."
>>
>>1866171
"Before we start passing judgment or make any other big descisions we'll wait for both leaders to recover so the outcome of the duel can be properly discussed. No more fight, duels or whatever other challenges you have should happen in the meanwhile either."

"Everyone calm down. Let's wait until the both of them wake up before we do anything hasty."

*covers mouth with hand*
"hi guys we should totally lynch those dirty gobbos"
>>
It's a day and a half of tension and standoffs before both men are brought into condition to speak.
"That was not pleasant for me and it was not honourable of you, Girk." the orc speaks carefully, having been instructed by the healers to take it slowly.
"It...it was a mistake! I must have messed something up, this wasn't supposed to happen in such a way. I just wanted what was right for my people, I just wanted to win, to stay alive! You said everything was allowed in the duel - I didn't break any rules." Girk replies
>>
>>1866205
"He has a point, you said Girk could use whatever he wanted."
>>
>>1866205
"Regardless of what you say you still almost killed him, and you still lost. I will admit he said you could use anything but I do find that bringing lethal poison to a fight like this leaves a sour taste in my mouth."
>>
>>1866205
"As I've said, there is surely something wrong here.
Such a poison, for a public fight with so much at stake? It makes no sense.
Surely there's secret plotters behind this. Perhaps Rhoznax agents switched the blades? Or one of the other warlords? Or a third mysterious force?
Somebody desires to pit you against each other, utilizing vile trickery I'm sure of it.

Right Girk? You surely intended to use something to make him sluggish or to knock him out? Something non-lethal?
And then somebody switched your blade for another one!"

Girk explains, that his spear and front dagger had a weak, nonlethal poison applied, while his rear dagger - the one he stabbed Drusourb with - was supposed to be affected by a quick-acting, lethal poison. The third poison at his disposal is one that works only on orcs - one he had been keeping in reserve with his forces. He's not sure if it was his own mistake or someone switching the vials around, but the third poison was the one applied. He seems sincere in that.

"I would urge the noble Drousdorb to show kindness to his defeated adversary.
The fight lastet for nearly five minutes and after all, no deaths resulted from this incident, regardless of it being due to a mistake or an outside force manipulating events."
>>
"It's very important we solve this matter peacefully lest your peoples begin tearing into each other. I might have a possible resolution proposal but I'll need to hear Drousdorb's judgment on the duel."
>>
"The Goblin is obviously a villain. He is no doubt lying about the poisoned blades, no one could say what he's saying with a straight face unless if they practiced for it. Besides, using such underhanded tactics alone should make him out as a wretch not worthy of our support or sympathy."
>>
Drousdorb sighs.
"The fight went as we agreed. You fought with what you had, I beat you. That means you, Girk the Swift Hand, will not be a ruler in this Kingdom. You will reveal all you've kept secret so far - about this...poison of yours and anything else. Do this, be honest and truthful and your people will be treated fairly. You will be granted lordships that your own people will rule."

Girk, a defeated look on his face, begins to explain.
The Orc-killing poison was indeed one of the big contributors to his rebellion's success.
It came about after he met the travellers from the east - when he and his fellows started gathering supporters and preparing for the revolution. Girk, having taken to reading books so he could educate himself on magic, sciences and war, had an interest in alchemy. He and his fellows were seeking to develop combat poisons - the quick-acting lethal one that he was meaning to use was one such. But during the process of creation, one day Girk awoke to find a note scribbled on papyrus in his room - detailing a complex alchemical formula. Pouring hard work into realising it - which he thought was a sign from Abagar - he eventually created this new, anti-orcish poison - "The Liberator". Girk himself wasn't sure if he'd written the notes in some midnight moment of inspiration, but he saw the effect of the poison and made use of it as an ultimate weapon against the opressors.

"Hmpf. I could believe that, I suppose. What do you think, Roggarians?" Echnih asks you.
>>
>>1866339
"I must say I agree with your assesment, it sounds believable enough.
As for your judgement upon the defeated, I must say your kindness and virtue is fit to be admired by all.
A ruler like you will be like the polar star, the facal point that all rotates around and the receiver of homage from all the lesser celestial bodies."
>>
>>1866339
"I can understand why you wouldn't want to give Girk rulership in the kingdom though I'm not entirely sure what the other goblins will make of this. Given his status as the goblin leader who fought to keep his people from being oppressed, having him in your court could be useful in calming down many of the goblins. But that's my own opinion your chief likely future king so the final descison is yours."
>>
>>1866354
"Girk got here by virtue of winning victories. Here, he lost and his secrets are revealed.
Frankly, you should be grateful that we not only won't exterminate the goblins, we won't even enslave them - we will reward them, even with this...concoction of theirs that has killed so many of ours and could have killed every orc here as well." Drusourb says with a face more serious than ever before. Others spoke of him as a very kind-hearted fellow and he did indeed appear as such before.
"Girk has done his part. He and the others who developed and used this poison will be exiled. That is my decision."
>>
>>1866366
"So be it then. Your judgement is just and wise."
>>
>>1866366
"I find this an understandable decision. If I may offer a piece of advice, perhaps you may want to develop some sort of effective antidote for this points in the future, should any treacherous fools attempt to use it in the future."
>>
>>1866366
"Hm. A fair judgement. Hopefully this poison won't rear it's head again. This at least brings a conclusion on the fate of the goblins."
>>
"Oh, yes. The poison. Yes, the poison chosen specifically to kill orcs."
"Hmmm. We'll look into it. I don't want it around anymore, whatever it is. My learned people will handle it - what I want is for it to be gone and for an antidote to be created. Girk and friends will work on that first - alongside my people - before they are sent away. It is the price for peace between our peoples."
>>
>>1866419
"If I may suggest, exiling Girk and his associates is too light of a banishment. His crimes are already great, purposefully killing innocent Orcs, but he could be dangerous in the open world. He's no doubt resourceful and could do grand things but with evil intention. Putting him to the sword or life imprisonment seems like a more appropriate and safe punishment."
>>
>>1866419
"An understandable precaution wise lord.
If you so desire, you may send him to us after his work is done, I'm sure the Duke of Gobbopolis will welcome him with kindness."
>>
>>1866419
"Hm perhaps there is still a use for Girk if your willing Chief Drousdorb to hear. There are likely many goblin rebel groups aside from Girks. He could be used to help convince them of your just rule and put his skills to use anywhere you might see fit on Hajatas as a means to atone for his use of the poison."
>>
On an unrelated note, a small marriage ceremony took place some time after the recovery of the poisoned Drousdorb Echnih.
Councilor Zhou and Karina, the slavegirl he accidentally purchased in Arboria (along with some tea, a herd of camels and a parrot) had come to the agreement that living together in sin was simply not befitting Pantheonic believers.

With the aid of Georgien, a follower of the cult of Divata, they were joined in holy marriage.

Some wine was purchased, a barbecue was held and merriment had.
