Four hundred some odd years ago, Harwyn Hoare granted a dark, cold piece of swampland to Darvin Blackett. Blackett, a raider and warrior of some renown, took this as a personal insult. His revenge was twofold: Firstly, his family aligned with the Mallisters of Seagard, turning into a longstanding opposition to the Ironborn raiders, the Riverlands' very own leashed saltborn murderers. Secondly, his family has set about becoming some of the most skilled and influential governers in history. Oh, they're not well remembered, few outside personal allies and friends recall their names and deeds, but everyone knows about the Blue Canal. Dug by Logar Blackett, the canal lengthened the Blue Fork, creating a deep crossing to allow trade to flow east and west through Westeros, instead of having to take the long route down around Dorne.

But that is the past. Who your house once was; Well regarded, powerful, wealthy... if a bit mad at times. You're trying to bring that back. Trying to remind the world at large that you still live, that you still THRIVE! You are Vickon Blackett, and it is quickly coming to be your wedding day. Tomorrow, specifically. Ahahaha, oh fuck that's just now sinking in. But for today, it is the second to last day of your tournament, which has lasted for three long days now. The melee was wild and delightful to you, a former champion yourself. You permitted nearly anyone who could prove to have atleast a modicum of martial ability to compete- in seperate brackets from the proper Lords and Knights, of course. Only the finest amongst the hedge knights, sell swords, men-at-arms, and the ocassional smallfolk warrior were allowed to compete in the higher levels.

Your own trueborn cousin, Ser Baelon Blackett, a giant of a man who stands above eight feet tall with ease, fought in the melee. You expected him to win, but he made the mistake of making himself a massive target. Well. Being an eight feet tall monster wielding a massive hammer will do that. You saw several young men throughout the melees that have interested you, you'll have to see about trying to learn more about them later.

Then there were the jousts. Far, far less interesting to you. You never were good at jousting or fighting form horseback. No, that was the realm of your old comrade, your old friend, Dontos Malroy. Who, as it turns out, is a friend of your wife-to-be's family, and is here competing in the joust. Winning, from the look of things. Winning handily. You'll have to see about speaking to him later... you were on opposite sides, in the war, and it has been years since you spoke to him. Shortly after Alys' death, specifically...

Ah, but then there's the most important guest here today. Your wife-to-be, Mariya Darry. She is... something amazing. Smart, witty, a sharp tongue, a dangerous player of the games you never had a mind for. And she is... beautiful. Young. Full of life. All of this helps greatly in inspiring you to smile again, to be willing to try. She catches you looking at her, and smiles.

Oof, and then your daughter! While Mariya is to your right, she is to your left. Bethany Blackett. Such a darling girl, sweet, kind, gentle... a remarkably talented swordswoman, even though you've just started teaching her, a tomboy to the extreme, and... tainted, with the Black Beast of Blackett. The bloodrage. She's learning to sooth it, to contain it, to keep control. She's part of why you've done... everything. A big part. Trying to make connections, finding a new wife, planning to have an heir. She will never be a proper lady, she is too much your child... but she also cannot simply be a warrior without someone to support her. If you named her your heir like you so wish you could, uncles and cousins would crawl out of the woodwork and contest it.

And so you have begun a hard journey, to make your House powerful again. For your own sake, you suppose, but in truth for your family, for your smallfolk, for your legacy. House Blackett will be remembered. It will rise, as it ever has, by its own hand. We Sow, We Reap, We Grow.

It is a big day. You have many guests, and many duties.
>Meet with guests for the wedding and tourney, who bare gifts and well wishes.
>Wrap up last minute plans for the wedding, insure everything is prepared, from the feast and entertainment, to the rings and your bride's dress.
>Relax, continue watching the jousts, things will be fiiine. Right?

>I would like to apologize for how long it has taken me to get all this started again. I've got a five month old brat now, and ontop of that my computer's screen burnt out and I've been sick. Shit's been wack, yo.

You let the rest of the jousting pass by in something of a blurr. Your thoughts are elsewhere, and as soon as is appropriate, you stand, letting Mariya take your arm, and head out. There's many people to meet with. Houses from far and wide... but mostly near. Minor houses of the local area of the Riverlands, your own Lord Mallister and his other vassals, ser Silverwood... but a few are oddities. People from beyond your lands, from beyond the Riverlands. Many have brought your small tokens and gifts, well wishes and the like. But only a few really stand out.

Lord Mallister, your liege. A good man, proud, strong. One of the few reasons your house is remembered at all, as 'Mallister's pet Ironborn'. Your hold no ill will towards him for it- he's fond of you, and backs you in most things. You've always been exceptionally loyal, and he pays like to like. One of his retainers carries a small box, perhaps big enough to carry a long bottle of drink.

Donnar Steiner, eldest son of Lord Derrick Steiner, of the North. You fought alongside his father, once. Massive man, easily your size, with pitch black hair and cold, blue eyes. Fond of greatswords and full plate. The boy, however, he appears around seventeen or so, and must take strongly after his mother. Soft, feminine, high cheekbones and freckles, red hair in a braid, and green eyes. He's carrying a basket with a closed lid, a rather big one.

>Cont
>>
>>1820149
Ser Willar Silverwood, something of a young protege of yours. You caved his bloody chest in with your axe on your first meet, a spar that went a bit out of hand. He thought it was great fun... and repayed you by crushing your men in war games. He's a natural leader, making up for his... 'meh' fighting skills. He has some sort of smalll box, a jewelry box perhaps.

That bitch, Latia Remora. What is she even doing here? Her house is from the rocky isles around Dragonstone, and was once known for being the Targaryen's big naval stick. Their force nearly rivalled the royal navy, but they slowly were destroyed and scattered over the course of the rebellion. Due to her actions at the end of the rebellion, her house has fallen on rough, rough times. She's got a bag slung over one shoulder.

>Who meet with? Fear not, you'll meet them all and get all the gifts, it'll just be glossed over. This is more to burn time while I prep shit for the wedding and the events to come after.

Lord Jason Mallister, your liege and friend, finds you as you are mingling. "Vickon." He addresses you, with the casualness due your direct superior. He takes the box form his aid, and offers it to you. "A gift. More... a token, than anything else. Something to remind you of another time, and hopefully to herald good things in your future. It's secondary to my proper gift." He explains, as you gently take the lid off the box. Inside is a delicate bottle of golden wine, with a half moon carved on it.

"It's... been some years since I have seen a bottle of this." You mutter, sighing tiredly. You know your lord meant it in good spirits, but seeing your Alys' favorite drink brings an ache to your chest. It's a callback, of sorts. He got you an entire cask as a gift when you wed her. She was both delighted and embarrassed. Mariya gently touches your arm, rousing you from your thoughts bringing you to speak. "Thank you, my lord. But you said a... proper gift?" A tone of curiosity to your words.

"I have been speaking with Lord Tully recently. He's willing to hear your case regarding the Blue Canal." Oh! Well now that's a hell of a gift after all! The Canal was dug by your family, but it is currently in the hands of House Tully, due to your family's waning strength and influence leading to them being unable to securely hold it.

"I wish you luck, Vickon." He says, patting you on the shoulder. "But please, let me keep you no longer. You surely have other guests to meet with." You exchange farewells as he departs. You turn your attention to the other wellwishers, recieving small tokens and parcels. As you suspected, only a few are really interesting.

The Steiner lad, a friend of your Maester, gifts you with a hunting dog. A puppy, specifically, that he has been raising and training himself. His family is apparently rather famous in the North for their fine hounds, a rare bloodline of sorts. He promises if you treat it well, and train it proper, you'll never have a finer companion. He warns you it might get a bit larger than you would expect, though.

Ser Silverwood gifts you with a rather dazzling silver necklace, set with a few small saphires and bits of sculpted obsidian. His land, he explains, is home to a small silver mine. Where he got his name, actually! It's a pretty gift for the blushing bride, in House Blackett colors. Well recieved.

Remora, the witch. She wears a heavy scarf covering the lower half of her face, but the left side of her face is still scarred, her ear mostly missing, covered by her hair. It nearly turns the stomach, but she seems to make an effort to keep the good half of her face towards you. She's decently pretty on that side, you suppose. She offers a rolled up flag, a jolly roger of some design, and a sack of shattered wood. She mentions she's been wandering the coast. Having a bit of fun with raiders. She'll be continuing. Her green eyes, you swear they glow, leave an impression in your head.

Nothing of real intrest left. Speak to anyone before moving on and timeskipping to the wedding itself? Anything else you wish to do?

Well. One last thing, then, before the day is done. The main event of any tournament, the joust, finished today. The winner... well, as if you ever had any doubt, once you saw the name. Dontos Malroy, the black knight of House Malroy. You need to present him with his prize. ...fffuck all this. You try to keep your thoughts and emotions calm, proud. You're a lord hosting a tournament, presenting a prize to a worthy victor, and you feel like a child having to eat his vegetables. You don't want to confront this.

You and Dontos were friends, once. Comrades. You were squires together in Kings Landing. Both of you were solemn young men, focused on growing as warriors and knights. He was always more devout than you, but you were both very serious about becoming honorable knights. You were a better fighter, while he was a better horseman. It was one of the few times you can honestly say you felt close to another person. You can count them all on one hand, honestly. Then you grew distant as you both had your duties, then the war saw you on opposite sides, and damnit, you are NOT a social creature. Not good with awkward situations. You hit things with an axe, damnit, you don't have deep and meaningful talks with people and build connections and shit.

"Done stalling yet?" Mariya quips from your side, and you sigh and roll your eyes. She looks quite amused.

"I'm not stalling. I'm contemplating how best to approach this situation." You explain, trying to sound dignified. Correction, she looks amused and insufferably smug.

"Easy. You've perhaps... three choices? You can simply treat him as a stranger, be open about wanting to rebuild your friendship, or pretend you never grew distant." She offers. You grumble. It's not that bloody simple. But you need to pick one fast, because here comes Dontos, with his wife, Lady Alexes Chelsted, on one arm. His squire, a young lad who shares many of his features, is carrying a long something or other wrapped in cloth. About the dimensions of a lance. You can't help but roll your eyes a little.

>Let it go, pretend he's just another competitor.

Eeegh... You're going to have to pretend to be a reasonable adult and all that, and a decent person, and good with emotions... You clear your throat as Dontos arrives before you. "Lord Blackett. It is good to see you in fine health, and to be in your home for such a pleasant ocassion." He stiffly says. You nod, equally stiffly.

"I thank you, Ser Malroy. And I congratulate you on your riding this day. A work of art." You say, holding up a fat sack of gold dragons. "The grand prize, to a worthy victor." You hand it over, and he bows his head in gratitude.

"I thank you, Lord Blackett. And if I may be so bold, I have brought you a gift as well, in honor of your wedding." He has his squire bring forth the item. The lad reminds you of him, but more strongly... aye, of that nephew of his. The wild one. Wasn't he making waves off in their lands...? You need to keep better track of the goings on in the kingdoms, but really, you can't be expected to know everything goign on off in the Crownlands. Dontos unwraps the item, surprise surprise, a lance. One of... rather excellent quality, actually. A proper war lance at that. Reinforced, carved with elegant lines that hint at shattered chains and charging stallions. You take it from him when he offers it, and consider it for a moment. Then crack a grin.

>Cont
>>
>>1820741
"You know I'm going to end up throwing myself with this thing, Ser Dontos." You quote a half remembered conversation. Dontos' eyes light up, and he grins as well.

"Lord Vickon, you just have to remember to stop dropping it so low. It's not THAT difficult." Yesss. You both chuckle happily. You did, infact, end up throwing yourself the first time around. Dropped the end of the lance, stabbed the ground at full charge, went tumbling. Dontos was terribly apologetic... for how hard he laughed, mostly. Terribly improper of him, that.

"Dontos, can..." You sigh, leaning the lance against your shoulder. "We should talk, later. There's... no reason for us to keep this up." You say, then wince. "Men like us do not make friends easily. We should keep the ones we have." He nods, grunting an affirmative. You look to your wife, and flinch a little at the wide grin and... a trick of the light, her eyes did not sparkle. You look to Lady Chelsted. ...two tricks of the light. Ignoring that. You and Dontos share a shudder and depart, both to be teased by your respective wife and wife-to-be.

And with that over, the day can come to a bloody end. You need to rest, relax. Prepare for tomorrow. Mariya kisses you gently on the cheek as you depart, and sashays away, your eyes glued to her. Well. Fuck.

"Well. Fuck." Thank you, Kaisen. Your ever present shadow rubs his chin. "You gunna be alright, Vickon?" He asks, looking to you. You sigh, low, tired. Bethany wanders by, hugging you tiredly before wandering off to her chambers, looking half dead. Poor thing, having to be social and ladylike. Your smirk is a guilty pleasure.

"I think I will be, Kaisen." You respond, rubbing your short beard. It is spring, and summer is coming. Warmth and comfort, light and peace, plentiful crops and few worries... if not for the activities of the Ironborn raiders along the coast. You doubt there's too much to be worried of. Your own ships, and the ships of many Riverlanders, even that witch Remora, hunt the pirates and raiders. They won't be able to do much. The coming years should be good. They should be a peaceful time to get to know your wife, to try for a child. You hope... you hope for a son, aye. An heir. "For the first time in a long while, I think I will be." He follows along as you head to your chambers, you to rest and he to stand guard.

Kaisen doesn't sleep, you see. He waits.

>Cont

>>1820984
The morning brings good cheer and celebration. You feast on warm rolls and thick cuts of bacon, on fried egg and on sweet wine. Moderate yourself now, Vickon. Or Kaisen will have to. Bethany joins you, dressed in some of her finest silken clothes in the Blackett colors, her hair a mad mess, standing up at improbable angles as her maids desperately try and tame it. Dead on her feet, as is usual for the girl. You sometimes wonder if she sleeps at all.

"Will Lady Darry be joining us, father?" She asks, gently sipping her wine and trying to wake up. She's making some sort of sandwich with her food. Smart girl. You follow suit. Mmm.

"No, Bethany. It's bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding. Silly superstitions, but..." You shrug. Mmm. Yes, you internally admit your daughter is a genius as you eat your breakfast sandwich.

"Don't wanna risk it, just in case?" She smirks at you, and you roll your eyes. "Silly daddy." She's putting on a good front.

"Still not happy about all this, are you?" She grunts noncommentally at your question. "She's trying, you know. You could too." You continue. She shoots you a glare.

"I am. Now don't drip grease on your shirt." She says, pointing her sandwich at you. You smirk.

"I'm not dressed for the big day yet. You, however..." You wave at her outfit, and she looks down, blushing crimson as she sees the drips of grease and yolk on her front.

"Fuck!" She storms from the table, food in hand, followed by her maids as you and Kaisen roar with laughter.

>Cont
>>
>>1820992
"You've got this, Vickon. Just calm yourself. You're a grown man, not a blushing young lad." Kaisen explains, helping you straighten your fine coat. "Chin up, and try and focus on the wedding, instead of the bedding, eh?" You go pale in the mirror.

"Thank you, Kaisen, I hadn't been thinking of that, but I am now." You rub your face, and push past the man. "Let's get this on with. I've got the rest of my life to get to." You declare, feeling twenty years younger.

"That's the spirit, ol' boy." He claps you on the back as her keeps pace. He knows you're screaming in panic on the inside, but he's too well mannered to mention it.

The wedding itself... it's a blur, honestly. The winging, the music, the septon, none of it really registers once you see her. She's wearing a rather daring white dress, with that necklace Silverwood gifted you. Good lad. Good lad. Need to not nearly murder him a second time. Kaisen has to covertly elbow you in the side to make you start breathing again. Ahaha you're going to die. Yup.

You don't die! You made it through the ceremony. And then comes the aftermath, the big bloody show of being stripped and tossed into the bedroom. You were right. Her body is amazing. Young, fresh, perky. It is... a while, before the two of you emerge form your shared chambers. The next day, actually.

>Cont
>>
>>1820998
It's been a while since you felt truly young, but putting up with the ribbing and joking and congratulations and laughter from your few friends and the different wedding guests makes you feel like it. Mariya, for all her snarky and flirtatious manner, is actually rather vulnerable to the far more quite and politely worded pestering from the lady guests. And soon, the whole thing is done with. People heading on their way, slowly filtering out of your castle, town, and lands. You have a few quiet words with Dontos, parting as... friends, again, yes. You will be sending letters back and forth for a time.

Bethany is rather sulky for the next handful of days as everything settles. She despises the whole idea of all of this, really. She's trying, though, making polite conversation with... your new wife. Oi, every time you think of that, it brings... conflicting emotions. You say a quiet prayer, asking that Alys be ok with this. She would be, you think. She'd be happy.

And... life continues. The monotinous grind of day to day life. Getting to know your wife, trying rather... often for that heir, training Bethanyand spending time with her, managing your lands... before you know it, another month has passed.

>And we move into the eighth month of 287! We will be doing monthly House Fortune rolls, and dealing with things as they crop up. Well shit. I should have specified only the first would count, but because I goofed and didn't, I'm going to go ahead and take the best of these.

22! Growth. +1 to a single stat.

To remind:

30/33 Defense
10/19 Influence
26/29 Lands
42 Law
37 Population
36/36 Power
40/41 Wealth

I would remind you you need 11 more Influence to get your firstborn son, and whenever you gain Wealth you gain +3 Wealth, so if you put your point into Wealth it would be a total +4.

Savvy! Your Influence goes up to 20. Which is good! One more and you actually will be at a like status level to the various small minor houses in the Seven Kingdoms!

OP has a few htings to do. Discuss plans and stuff as OP does them.
>>
>>1821189
So options here ? We could try to pettition the Tullys to regain the canal back or we could try to spread some more influence around as we do so. Or just keep trying to make that heir, can't go wrong there.
>>
>>1821201
Well, you have several things you need to work on right now. Trying to gather the paperwork and claim needed for the canal, getting the petition started, try to gain more influence, etc. Just come up with an idea for the month, and I will try to come up with a correlating means of gaining Lands, Influence, etc.
>>
>>1821218
I would say that gaining the political capital then would be the best bet so we could reclaim the canal and prove that we did in fact own it, we did in fact build it and that we have a claim to the damn thing.
>>
>>1821278
Gaining Influence is good. Your main issue with the claim is proving you can control and operate the canal. That your family built and owned it was never in question.
>>
>>1821324
What all would entail with controlling and operations of the canal just having enough men for it? Having good managers to collect the tax from traveling ships? On that note the trade business would be booming for those that wanted to try getting across the whole of Westeros wouldn't it?
>>
>>1821362
Mainly having the influence and proving your control over your own lands is absolute. AKA, having higher Influence and Lands. Raise your Influence to 21 and your Lands to 31, and few will dispute your claims.
...unrelated, I'm going over Bethany's character sheet and I almost wish Vickon would die so she could become the MC. She's a bloody monster.

Hell, she could probably take on Jamie Lannister and have fair odds. The Berserker quality is *insane*. I could post her stats, if enough people request it, but I also don't really want to reveal them until she actually is playable. It's up to you lot.

Landon could too. The man is a beast, tanky as hell, surprisingly quick on his feet. He just needs some less shit gear.

Aye, that's why I said I THINK she could. He's incredibly tough. You'd need to do the numbers and such to figure it out.

On that front, how would Vickon do against Landon?

I think you're a little less detailed a move through events quicker than Father. Doesn't mean it's bad, but I never felt that father's timeskips were as obvious, possibly because they happen in between sessions.

I also think you could move from choice to choice a little more smoothly. It can feel a little jarring. The wedding felt more like a bunch of snapshots of the event rather than one movie.

I'm not a writer so I don't know if planning more interactions or dialogue for the events would help. Maybe you're just a bit rusty I'd have to read the old threads again.
>>
Alright, everyone! A couple of things before we begin in about forty minutes or so. VICKON has acquired 2 Glory through his actions in earlier threads. Glory is one of the rewards in the SIFRP system, and it can be spent either to gain +1B on any test, OR to raise any stat on a 1:1 basis.

The following month is... complex. Your lands are doing well, slowly growing and continuing to thrive under your stewardship. Let it never be said that a Blackett was a poor steward. Your family long ago proved masters of the art, and you will not be the one to fail in your charge. Well wishes and small notes from various local lords filter in, helping to boost your confidence that your House has not been forgotten, and your maester has been putting in work towards finding deeds and claims in your records to try and extend your grasp, inch by inch.

Speaking of inch by inch! Your wife and you have been... growing close. Mariya Dar- Blackett. Yes. Mariya Blackett is... young, energetic, passionate. Being around her and... with her, yes, makes you feel half your age. You are NOT the sort to try and do big feats of romance and act like a young and blushing knight. Not anymore. But... well, you're a rather mature fellow, with your life well in order. Usually. Sometimes. Shut up. You remember the small things. You ensure the table is set with a vase with her favorite flowers in them, something she mentioned offhand in a letter to you once. You spend... honestly too much on making sure she has the finest tailor on hand to build her a new wardrobe. You ensure one (or four) of your Ironbreakers is always close by to keep her safe.

>Cont
>>
>>1823919
Speaking of them, you've... hm. Well, it's really the only downside of having the tournament and wedding held in your own home. Its become something of common knowledge that you have what amounts to a small knightly order, composed entirely of bastards, kneeling to you. Loyal, proud, and distinctly... unholy. The book of the Seven speaks against bastards, calling them spawns of sin and evil. You've never been a religious man, though your family ostensiously keeps the Seven. You know only that any one of your men would throw themselves into wildfire for you, your own cousin, Kaisen Rivers, being the first. But others are... talking. You may need to consider something there.

Speaking of black sheep. Bethany. Oh what a joy. And a pain. As usual. Her study in combat is going well, her lessons in blades proving... second nature. She's rapidly growing from a clumsy amateur girl into something... yes, something to fear. She's slowly leashing the Black Beast, the bloodrage, the riot within her soul, and learning to use it as fuel. Any attack that slips through her guard (and at this point they are still many) is met with a furious reprisal. She favors a shield and a hand and a half sword when training. She still swears she will find Shaper. Adorable.

>Cont
>>
>>1823925
Mariya and Bethany... they're not really getting along. Mariya tries to understand, but she's far more used to girls who wish to play the Game, or are good little daughters and sisters and wives. Your wild and martial daughter, raised and shaped by your hand and by your knights, without a woman's soft touch moulding her... she just can't get her head around it. Yet. She's still trying. Meanwhile, Bethany has never been without her father's full attention. Having to share you is... hard. She's surly often, and jealous. But she too is trying. Perhaps there is something you can do to get them to get along...

>Would you like to timeskip to 9/287?
>Do you wish to do anything regarding your Ironbreakers, your own knighthood of bastards?

>>Any ideas on how to get your waifu and daughteru to calm down?
I have no idea how to do this. But it's important to remind Beth that pure strength isn't enough to survive in Westeros. She needs to be taught on how to be subtle and cunning in intrigues and in fights
>>
>>1823931
Anyone who wants to complain about the ironbreakers can do it to our face.

>>Do you wish to do anything regarding your Ironbreakers, your own knighthood of bastards?

State clearly and in no uncertain terms that they are good and loyal men, who's mere existence heaps twice the shame upon any bastard who is low and craven.
>>
>>1823931
Make it a game of sorts for them both, where both mother and daughter take turns working on what the other does. For example Beth any loves warfare and foghting, Maria loves the game and gaining favor, so have them reenact war staggering with Westeros a table top battle simulator more or less where all aspects of the game are in play. From having enough soldiers to route others to having petty lords that will turn on you for greater rewards and riches.

By merging both their interests we would be able to to make a game of chess that allows them both to learn about each other.

Course the master might be needed to make the rules so mother doesn't just convert all of Bethanys lords in one go haha
>>
>>1823931
Maybe also talk with a Sept on and see if there cannot be a rebirth of all our iron breakers where they are baptised into a new name for themselves where they take the last name Ironbreaker instead of their bastard surname. Surely the father and mother would allow those of sin to redeem themselves no?
>>
>>1824016
perhaps this

I could see our breakers becoming more like astartes this way, "Battle-Brothers" and all that jazz
>>
>>1824016
>>1824040
I wouldn't have the first clue on this. As far as I know, the only way a bastard can get legitimized or a name change or something like that is if the king himself does it, or MAYBE a warden? It's certainly a solid idea, one I like, but I also feel the obvious need to stay true to the setting. If you get moe support for this, I would absolutely try to go for it, though.
>>
>>1824016
Getting a name is a tricky endeavour, you can earn a name by being landed or by being called from the region you're calling home, that's how the merchants first gained their names.
You can also gain a name if your family as been in a craft for a certain number of generations.
The Faith could give you a name if you were someone that helped further their goal.
>>
>>1824050
This is a good point here. The having land bit, specifically. If and when you gain control of the Canal, it is a stretch of land with a Tower on it. You would be able to land one of your Ironbreakers, granting them the land in your name. You might wish to consider which one. I can provide names and descriptions if asked.
>>
>>1824066
On the front of your daughter and wife, you decide... well, to try and manipulate them. Hahaha. You're so fucked. But you try none the less. You poke and snoop, trying to find things they have in common. Hm. They really don't like Freys. Beyond that... Maybe you're doing this wrong. Instead you try to figure out how to maybe... meld them? Wars and the Game are two sides of a blood soaked coin. You try and get them talking on the subject, on how force can be applied to further political and influential gains, and how the said gains can be used to fund and feed armies and war efforts. Atleast that's something you bloody know about. You'll have to see what comes of that...

Your Ironbreakers. You are not touched by the blood rage like some of yoru family, like your daughter, but when an insult is levied against your own like this, you could do a decent act of it. You have to sit and cool yourself for a long time before any response you give is something more than a very colorful 'go fuck yourself' or 'I will fucking come over there'. In the end your responses to such inquiries regarding them are confident declarations that the Ironbreakers, your own knights, friends, companions, are above reproach. Honorable men one and all, loyal and proud, and their example heaps shame on any, bastard or trueborn or anyone else, who would prove a craven or a traitor. You do begin to plan a possible way to grant them their dues, however. They deserve far better than to be looked down on like this.

Time continues on.

>>
>>1824183
You do realise that the whole point of the house is being the Anti-Ironborn. Our words are literally We Sow, We Reap, We Grow as a fuck you to House Greyjoy. >>
>>1824199
We also hate the Greyjoys, but that's just because for a long time we controlled the canal, which was a big fucking Target for any Ironborn who wanted some dosh and glory.

Were the Anti-Ironborns. We don't raid people, we eat raiders alive. We carefully cultivate our lands and grow stronger by the sweat of our brow. And yes, we and our Ironbreakers wear full plate even when fighting on boats.
>>
>>1824204
Old Balon is no different then Black Hoare. They both follow the "old" way and all that mumbo jumbo.
>>
>>1824183
Because the general idea was that an Ironborn getting the scraps of the land when the Hoares conquered the Riverland, getting the worst part of the pie turned him against the way of thinking of the Ironborn. When Aegon landed and Harren retreated to his castle the house survived and didn't burn, in fact it prospered as it built a canal that would link the Ironman Bay to the Trident.

The religious conversion could be explained as a political move in the aftermath of Aegon's conquest, enforced by the Mallister.

The Kenning of Kayce are a similar House such as the Blackett and they seem to do alright, and their overlord was Tywin.
>>
>>1824215
Why would our ancestor swear fealty to Mallister instead of Vickon Greyjoy if he just hated the Hoares? I don't understand.
>>
>>1824220
This is correct. Our House started as an Ironborn one that was slighted by Hoare and developed a hatred of all Ironborn. Hoare had a special spot on our shit list for sure, and the Greyjoys are also on our shit list specifically.
>>
>>1824220
Ah, that makes sense. Our ancestor was pissing himself in fear of dragons, so he suckled Mallister's teats for survival.
>>
>>1824220
>getting the worst part of the pie
Why not just side with the ironborn against their terrible king to get more pie? This house's origins are starting to sound lame.
>>
>>1824229
A wise choice, since we've gotten rich and prosperous unlike the Ironborn stick farmers.
>>
>>1824238
We're Mallister's willing thrall at best, don't let those whore things fool you. The Ironborn at least stayed independent and elected their Lord Paramount, our house was a Riverlander's buffer zone.
>>
>>1824225
Because when the Hoares burned, the other lords of the Riverland would have turned on the last Ironnigger, this House.

At the same time the Iron Islands went up in flame as they were searching for who to become the next ruler of their domains. It took them 2 years and Aegon burning a few more shit on the Islands for them to decide to take the Greyjoy. The House would have died if they waited that long. Mallister was the next best thing, as they were neighbors with a common goal, even though they must have distrusted us in the beggining.
>>
>>1824241
Well, as independent as they can be swearing loyalty to Aegon "the guy who lets people keep their religions" Targaryen.
>>
>>1824241
"Independent" lol. Getting your shit kicked after rebelling every 50 years is independent?
>>
>>1824247
Yeah. Having that drive to rebel for the sake of your lifestyle means you'll never be tamed by the Man.
>>
It's also pretty important to note that our house was founded around the same time as the Rhoynar Invasion. Greyjoy wasn't any form of rival to Hoare at that point. We rebelled and joined Mallister and the like well before the burning.
>>
>>1824251
It also means you live in comparative poverty.
>>
>>1824236
You could always start a quest with a house set in the Iron Islands who doesn't trade and raid all the neighboring realm.
>>
>>1824251
Still knelt and paid taxes to every Targaryen king. If you want the independent lifestyle than be a wilding.
>>
>>1824254
All the Iron Islanders hated Halleck and Harren for incompetence and profligate rulership. If the Iron Islands rebel against him, he has less muscle to rule the Riverlands, which would then rebel against him.
>>
>>1824264
this is shortly after Roberts Rebellion. Greyjoys have been in power for a while now, and this house has been killing their raiders for most of its life time,
>>
>>1824257
Only comparative. You can either eat small, or eat shit to please others.
>>
>>1824275
Anon, the iron islands are wank, their lifestyle means they never build up to much more than a fleet of ships and moderate infantry. They barely have an economy to speak of.

Our house got given a damn swamp, made the best of it and found a leige family who have done well by us.
"But bend the knee" and? Everyone does.
>>
>>1824272
Why would this house betray their way of life if they just had issues with a Dynasty (don't know how this got to that point with Harren of all people as a ruler, he probably just killed everybody who raised their hand at the Kingsmoot) who all the Houses of the Iron Islands didn't like?
>>
>>1824264
They hated the Hoare because they kept the choice part of the Riverlands for themselves, though they were happy with whatever meager land they had has that was more wealth than what their holdings on the Islands produced.

They dared not to rock the boat as it could break their hold on the Riverlords, had Aegon not landed Harren would certainly invaded the other realms, the Reach for even more food, the Westerland for the gold, the Stormlands and the Vale for the prestige of having a kingdom to stretch from sea to sea.
>>
>>1824278
Our House sold out. Selling out diminishes what your House is. Like, swearing fealty is a normal thing if you have a bad lord, but going above and beyond with your whole way of life is too far.
>>
>>1824283
>Harren would certainly invaded the other realms, the Reach for even more food, the Westerland for the gold, the Stormlands and the Vale for the prestige of having a kingdom to stretch from sea to sea.
Halleck tried it, didn't work so good, and he was a better king than Harren.
>>
>>1824285
The Ironborn way of life is shit unless you are a third or 4th son. It stops the heads of families from making money via trade, and actively discourages you living the good life, while the basic religious ritual makes you run the risk of dying if your priest is a little drunk that day. And the priest doesn't get blamed if you do die. Why are you loving the cold dreary downright idiotic iron born so much.
>>
>>1824285
Our house got given shit servings for a job well done. I mean if you want to be that family who they can pay off with next to nothing then please, be my guest and play in a quest with a house like that.

Frankly you are the only one here holding your opinion.
>>
>>1824285

>dirt poor stick farmers living on a swamp
And what's wrong with House Reed for that matter?
>>
>>1824290
>I mean if you want to be that family who they can pay off with next to nothing then please
No, House Hoare was getting too close to resembling a certain homophone, they're the only thing that did our House bad. Why change what wasn't broken with the rest of the Ironborn?
>>
>>1824297
There's a cannon Ironborn house that serve as loyal vassals to Lannisters.

Frankly anon, you're just whining about some dumb ideals that have been proven to be stupid and suicidal.
>>
>>1824317
>There's a cannon Ironborn house that serve as loyal vassals to Lannisters.
Fuck those guys too.

>Frankly anon, you're just whining about some dumb ideals that have been proven to be stupid and suicidal.
What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger.
>>
>>1824108
Well this has been SUPER interesting and I'm TOTALLY glad we went through all this (joking, I don't mind discussion and debate, it makes me happy), buuut we need to move on. Best of our first three says BOON!

YEAH!

1d6 to a single stat, OR 1d3 to two stats. As always, our Wealth gives +3 if we pick it, so keep that in mind while voting.
>>
>>1824338
1d3 to 2 stats.
Wealth and influence.
>>
>>1824338
1d6 to influence
Pump that baby
>>
Rolled 5 (1d6)

>>1824290
>>1824292
>>1824298
I will play this quest the way I wish to, for I came here with the assumption that we were of Ironborn culture and will vote to play our character as such.

>>1824338
POWER BAYBEEEEEEE
>>
>>1824344
Sure, if you want to just ignore allot of the house lore.
>>
>>1824346
What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger.
>>
>>1824343
Would argue for the 2 1d3's. Maximise gains for little risk.
>>
>>1824338
Wealth and Lands, we only need one more land to stake our claim on the Canal
>>
>>1824338
1d3 on Lands and Influence
>>
>>1824338
With all that talking, you sure you haven't forgotten to add the HF bonus dice and the Head of House bonus on all that?
Because a 5d6 with a bonus dice in Stewardship don't give a boon bonus, at best it's a growth.
>>
>>1824338
Wealth and Influence. We need to consider expanding our business prospects or better equip our men.

Couple questions regarding the canal. Who is the current owner? Tully? A rival? Are there any holdings there, like a Tower or a Hall, or a Ruin of such?

Is the canal itself just a fluff macguffin or does it actually have a Lands or Wealth holding associated with it? Something tangible?

>>1824344
You'll literally never win any vote.
>>
>>1824338
I say Influence and Land since we need to keep slowly gaining on that stuff. Also any idea on the whole merging of the bloody coin of politics and war?
>>
Keep in mind we can use wealth to convert to land.
>>
>>1824381
You'll literally never win any vote.
>literally
Is that a word they taught in cockless greenlander school?
>>
>>1824367
I managed to not add the Head of House bonus of +2, OR the amazing House Fortune bonus of +6. I just took the 11 from the linked roll, +1 from making good choices in how you handled your house issues (Mariya and Bethany's tension and the Ironbreakers being distasteful to outsiders).

All this equals out to... a Blessing, not a Boon. Which is 1d3 to one OR 1 to two. Oh boy, I am just having the best day.

>>1824381
Tully is governing the canal, and that's why you can't be more aggressive about trying to get it back. At 31 Influence you can make a claim, and at 34 Influence you can basically insure you get it. There is a Tower, as I mentioned earlier. It is a Plains, Coast, River, with the Tolls holding attacked.

I am seeing two votes for Wealth and Influence and two votes for Lands and Influence. Because I colossally fucked up, one hundred percent my bad, I'm going to allow the 1d3 in each instead of just 1 in each.

So, let's give it a vote. Gunna give it... fifteen minutes, we'll say.
>Wealth and Influence
>Lands and Influence
>>
>>1824381
He said earlier that the canal had a tower that could be given to whoever we land. It also as a toll booth to tax ship, and I think it was fluffed in one of the previous thread, that's why we require land in the first place, we have to buy back the domain.
>>
>>1824381
just ignore him. End of the day, his opinion isnt going to matter.
>>
>>1824405
>Wealth and Influence
>>
>>1824405
>Wealth and Influence
If we can get the wealth to convert into land easier I'll side with this. If its not worth the amount earned in wealth I'd switch to lands instead.
>>
>>1824405
>Lands and Influence
>>
>>1824405
>>Wealth and Influence
>>
>>1824405
>House Fortune bonus of +6
but that number is also wrong.
Maester gives +5
Port gives +2
Fishery gives +1
Population gives +3, forgot that one didn't you? Those could also be turne into 2d6

That and the +1 would put the 11 at 23 which is a curse.
>>
>>1824427
What's more the other rolls ends up with a Boon and a Curse, 2 curses.
>>
>>1824410
Aye, the day will never end once we set the Sunset Coast ablaze.
>>
>>1824432
Im as much for remaining at least a bit true to our roots as you anon but even I think thats a bad idea
>>
>>1824440
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>
>>1824405
>>Wealth and Influence
>>
>>1824427
Maester is +3, Port is +5, Population is +3. Fishery is not implimented yet. Fff. Total +14 due to our +1... 29, 25, 31. Curse, Growth, Growth?

Fuck it, we'll remember this all for next time. Consider this Boon my sincere apology.

Ok, Wealth and Influence.

1d3 to Influence
1d3+1d6+2 to Wealth. I THINK I'm reading the rules on that right. We will go with it for now.
>>
>>1824458
Ok. How to do this... 2d3 linked to this, then 1d6+7 linked to this. Accepting only the first!
>>
>>1824462
1d6+2. Not 1d6+7. I'm sorry, I can give like fifty excuses, but none of them should matter. Please forgive me for continually fucking these numbers.
>>
Rolled 1, 1 = 2 (2d3)

>>1824462
>>
>>1824466
Chill

>>1824467
Is fucking the numbers.

Shit happens, you learn.

You'd better use the Port as it is in OOSP as it's only a +2.

>Your Fishery will finish at the same time. SO, give me 5d6, keeping the best 4!>>1821005

The benefit kicked in the next month which would be this one?
Why do you think Karban grew up so big?
>>
>>1824494
Benefit kicks in NEXT month. Which is the tournament as well.

And... yes, we'll use the OOSP instead of requesting another roll. So +1 Influence and +4 Wealth. I am sorry.

30/33 Defense
10/22 Influence
26/30 Lands
42 Law
37 Population
36/36 Power
40/45 Wealth

We will continue tomorrow. I'm sorry guys, I know I'm cutting it off way early, but I have a horrible headache, a mild fever, and I can't keep anything I eat down. So. Normal Wednesday. Tomorrow at noon central time, we'll handle this month and THEN IT'S TOURNEY IN RIVERRUN TIIIME!

I will be around for Q&A, though.

How does it feel being back after a long hiatus doc? Especially with Father running grallner quest at the same time
>>
>>1824533
Fantastic, really. I'm concerned about being able to give it the time it deserves, but I'm happy to be giving it a shot. The reception has been great, and we're getting more people all the time. I just hope I can stop making stupid mistakes.
>>
>>1824563
But your stupid mistakes are our bonuses.
>>
>>1824563
Good to have you back then! >>1824583
is right, ur mistakes usually end up in our favor... but i'm actually not too thrilled with that. I'm worried about anything actually challenging Vickon in any serious way. I never knew how enticing it was to play a house on the backfoot until Father made House Grallner
>>
>>1824563
Thanks for running and hope you get better soon!
>>
>>1824563
Quest soon. In theory. OP is still sick, and he has to run Scion for his local group tonight. It may need to be delayed.
>>
>>1826629
Wasn't here for the thread but am glad that it is in play again. Take care of yourself OP we're willing to wait on a return but that can't happen if you do yourself damage.
