General Rules

15 min voting period after each main post. Write-ins votes are welcomed/encouraged. Votes that are non-contradictory and add to the narrative will be considered. Think 'Rule of Cool'

Combat mechanics/skill test will be done using best three out of five rolls of 1d100, unless otherwise specified. Modifiers may come into play depending on the MC's statistics which can improve odds and vice versa as the QM sees fit. The QM will do their best to inform players of when such modifiers will come up during votes. (Example: Aim at a target at long range with a scattershot weapon will require a higher roll to make a successful hit than a normal blaster weapon).

Training with other bots and successful missions can add to your overall abilities. Strong character relationships with your comrades can also benefit the MC as it will improve battle synergy and moral (less likely to want to fall back/retreat). Of course the vice versa can come into play as well. A failed mission may have consequences but result in unforeseen outcomes (In the show, Tarantulus, Blackarachnia, & Quickstrike were supposed to secure an energon post. The Maximals interfered, resulting in the loss of the post BUT Tarantulus gained a new lair.).

Keep an eye out at your energon build up levels; too much time in robot mode outside of a structure, such as a base can cause negative impacts on your combat maneuvers/skill test, including potential loss of spark. In the event of loss of spark, pending the results of a vote, a time lapse in the narrative will happen and a new stasis pod will fall. (Roll for new character or with a high relation level, a blank protoform will descend and your allies will reignite your spark)

Last time on Beast Wars Quest
Warpath hung out with Tigatron, set up some perimeter defenses and discovered an energon grove
>>
The dawn arrives and you are awoken to the sounds of the forest. The fluttering of bird’s feathers taking flight and the sporadic cries echo in the stoic woods. You stretch from your evenings rest; part of you wants to remain asleep considering how long you were out setting up your equipment. Emerging from your den to take a quick look of your surroundings; nothing to report and nothing that seems out of the ordinary. No sign of Rattrap either. You haven’t been on your own since you emerged from your stasis pod. A strange sensation.

The other Maximal’s didn’t say exactly when Rattrap would show up, so it looks like you’ve got the morning for yourself.

What would you like to do?

>Morning reconnaissance patrol of the area.
>Turn on the array and do a sensor sweep; see if anyone’s in the area (friend and foe)

>Turn on the array and a do a sensor sweep; see if anyone’s in the area (friend or foe)
>Morning reconnaissance patrol the area

You walk over to the array. “Activate. User: Warpath.”

The tower powers up and its display screen lights up. You recall Rhinox’s instructions for beginning a sector scan sweep.

“SYSTEM SCAN COMMENCING....SCANNING…NO ENERGY SIGNATURES DETECTED”

Hmm, all’s quiet in the forest today. Well minus the array’s computer. Going to have to lower the volume on this thing. Still you would’ve liked to see if there were any Predacons to get the drop on.

“Computer: end scan. Return to standby mode.”

“ACKNOWLEDGED.”

The system returns to its powered down setting and you look around. It’s bright and early, might as well take a quick stroll of the region. Beats sitting on your ass waiting for the rat.

You head out towards the edge of the woods where your most of the sensors are located, remaining obscured behind the trees to avoid any lingering eyes if any Predacons had entered the region after you shut down the array. The only sounds are that of the life of the planet and the whisper of the wind. You can feel the animal inside you beckoning you to run across the plains, pass the wood.
Do you indulge this feeling?

>Maybe later, let’s finish this patrol

You shake off the feeling and the urge to roam. You’ve got a job to do and that takes priority.

You head south first; you’ll be doing north later so it’s for the best to look over the south for now. You don’t have any of your traps set up here so you’ll need to patrol this area more frequently.

The trip so far has been quiet. Whatever the Preds are up to, they’re not doing it here. Atleast from what you can tell. You scan the distant horizon to the south and south west. Judging from the cloud formations, it looks like there might be a storm rolling through or atleast some rain. Maybe it’ll swing up this way, you’re not quite sure.

For all intents and purpose the southern region looks clear. Where would you like to resume your patrol?

>Head north, secure the area before heading up with Rattrap

With the rest of the forest appearing to be all quiet, you decide to move northward. You had vaguely recalled that there were some tracks near the water hole but didn’t fully investigate it. While the scanner should’ve been able to detect any unnatural disturbances, you rather play it safe then walk the two of you into an ambush.

You make your way back up through the forest, choosing to make a pass by the sniper’s den. No sight of him yet. You’ve got time to make it there and back again if need be.

It’s a roughly half a megacycle until you make it up there. You can tell you’re getting close when the ER Com starts getting some static from energon build up. With the energon levels rising, you feel that it’s probably best to remain in beast mode for the time being. No need to short circuit yourself while looking around.

Approaching the same way you did before you creep into the area. By all accounts, from the previous visit, it looks the same. The area where the energon is stable is still there and the opposite side with the tracks is still littered with shards.

>Approach the West side of the pond, where the tracks and shards are
>Approach the East side of the pond, where the stable energon is
>Examine the water, it has an unusual glow to it

>Examine the water, it has an unusual glow to it

You move into the grove to get a closer look at the water. It has a beautiful shimmer and glow to it. From a far it looks like ice or just the reflection of the energon, but from closer inspection it seems like the energon has done something to the water.

>Take a sample of the water (will require you to transform and take energon build up)
>Just take a scan of it. You can send the readings to the Maximals to analyze

>Just take a scan of it. You can send the readings to the Maximals to analyze

With the energon levels as they are, you simply chose to have your system’s scan the water. Anything else seems too risky.

From what you can understand from the initial scan is that the water has absorbed and been charged with the radiation.

As you complete you’re scan, your comlink starts to crack again with static.

“Hey…*static*…where…*static*…do you re-*static*”

Hmm sounds vaguely like Rattrap but it’s difficult to understand.

You move back away from the water and the grove. The static is kind of annoying and loud. You’re grateful nothing else around here can hear it. Once you’ve cleared the area, you finally can respond. That is if the rat would ever quiet down.

“Warpath! Come in, Warpath! Hey, you hear me? Where the heck are ya?”

“Mind keeping it down rodent! The whole forest hasn’t been alerted to your presence yet.”
“Finally. Been trying to get ahold of you, I’m by your pile of sticks. Where are you?”

“I was on morning patrol and decided to secure the grove. I’m sending my coordinates. Meet me up here.”

“Yeah, yeah. This nature walk better be worthwhile. Rattrap out.”

You sigh, annoyed. You can see why Dinobot finds him unbearable. Cat’s eat mice right? Hmm once were done, you could use a snack. No one would ever know, right?

As you are holding your position, your ears pick up something. Sound of rustling limbs and plants.

>>Crouch low and look around for what’s causing the sound

You get lower to the ground to prevent being seen. This is your chance to catch whatever this is by surprise. Keeping low, you move around the grove, avoiding the energon field to prevent from the static giving you away. On the opposite side of this area, closer towards the stable energon, you find a bit of an elevated positon that will give you a better launching pad should you wish to pounce upon whatever is near.

You wait and watch the area. Debating on how quickly Rattrap moves, it’ll still be a bit until he gets here. You’re on your own for now. But that’s how you like it.

Remaining motionless, you still wait. Whatever this thing is, it’s taking its time…wait. Slight movement. Was it being cautious? Or did it detect you? No time to worry about that now.

You sniff the air while your ears move, scanning for the slightest tell as to what you can be up gainst. You don’t sense anything and scanners don’t detect any energy signatures, for what good they are. All the energon is scrambling them.

There’s another small rustling of brush from the same place. You get ready.

That’s when it comes out…huh you thought they’d be bigger. But whatever they are, they havent noticed you as they enter the grove (see pic)

>Attack the area behind them

You’re not sure what these things are but you don’t recall seeing them around the Maximal base. The eight legs also seem to be a dead giveaway. The spiders.

You suspect that there may be something behind the small creepy crawlers so you decide to leap and swipe. Fangs and claws bare, you launch yourself from the small elevated position. You’re swinging swipes don’t do much other than clear out several branches from the thicket, as they’re doesn’t seem to be anything else behind the initial group. The small arachnoids stop and look up with their little light heads and helplessly watch as a massive cat slam down on top of them. The small things just spark under your feet.

“Sheesh, whats got your whiskers in a bunch?” you hear behind you.

You whip your head back to see a large grey rat waltzing towards the area you were initially. You lift up one of your paws to show him, what’s left of the droids, while shaking off the small pieces of scrap sticking to you paw pad.

“Pred droids. Seems we’re not the only ones around.”

Rattrap starts looks around the area and walks over towards you. “Well you certainly dealt with them. Did you even bother to try and see what they were doing here or where they came from?”

You keep scrapping your feet on the ground to remove the remaining bits. “Too busy making sure the area secured rat.”

“Typical pussy cats; always leaping before they look.”

You give him a glare. He just leans his head down to sniff the remains. “Hmm.”

“Find something?”

“Oddly enough…no. There’s no scent on these things. Well except cat B.O.”

You snarl.

“Hey hey, it could be worse.” He shrugs. “Could be wet dog.”

You’ll give him that one. Still he needs to watch his mouth.

“So what do you think we should do?”

“Well I came out here for some energon removal, not pest control.”

“You don’t think we should go after the Preds?”

He shakes his head. “Well without a trail, we’d just be running around in circles. Atleast if we take the energon, they won’t have what they’re looking for. Presumably. Another thing, if I’m gonna be taking these crystals out, I’ve to transform and redirect energy to my energy dampeners. You’ll need to keep watch in case someone does come snooping around.”

He makes an interesting point for a cheese eater.

Rattrap makes his way over towards the stable energon cluster. “Heh, all in all, nice find fangs. Its pretty rare to find crystals like these out here.”

So what do you plan to do?

>Guard duty while Rattrap extracts the energon (beast mode or robot mode)

>Guard duty while Rattrap extracts the energon (beast mode or robot mode)

“Rattrap, Maximize”

You start to pad around the area, keeping an eye on the surrounding forest. You still have this uneasy feeling someone’s out there and while you’d much rather be hunting Predacon’s, you’re not about to ditch an ally.

“Just give me a few. I’ll pop this out faster than you can cough up a hair ball. Divert energy from weapons array to dampeners; maximum tolerance. ”

Even if it’s Rattrap.

Sometime passes and it’s still quiet. Well minus the rodent’s occasional thinking out loud. But he extracts nearly all the stable energon. He places the energon into three cylinders and places them in his back where his blaster would normally be. That’s what he must have meant that he didn’t come for battle. Seems careless to you.

“Alright. Before we go let’s take a few more scans; Rhinox wants to see if this can be replicated.”

“What do you mean?”

He transforms back to his beast mode and stands on his hind legs.

“Well see, if we can figure out how this energon became naturally stable, we might be able to replicate the way to do it. And test it out on some of the raw energon deposits around here and elsewhere. You see where I’m going with this, Fangs?”

The only place you can see him going right now is down your throat in bite sized pieces.

“It’ll make it easier to maintain the Axalon’s energy and your ability to fight this war.”

Rattraps laughs, “Hey you’re not as dumb as you come off. You and Stripes are still crazy for being out here but you’re alright.”

You just low growl.

“Well for the record, I’ve already scanned the water. The glow seems off to me.”

He looks at the pond. “Well you ain’t wrong. This stuff might have had bizarre effects on your systems. You, uh, didn’t drink any did you?”

“No.”

“Well then, I’m gonna scan the soil and the raw stuff. Just keep an eye out.”

You go back to the top of the ledge you initially leaped off of. Rattrap fortunately is quick with his scans. You still can’t shake this uneasy feeling that all there was were just a handful of arachniods.

“Alright all done.”

Finally.

“So you ready to head back? Or you still gonna play park ranger out here.”

Just out of curiosity, am i making Rattrap too much of a douche or just the right amount?

I'm open to constructive criticism; i've always just found him really sarcastic to the point of occasionally being insufferable
>>

>Stick around the grove with Rattrap, maybe there’s more to scan or investigate here

>>1803231
maybe depending on the situation he'd be more snarky or sarcastic, like say is taking cover after getting ambushed and Warpath takes cover in the same rock you see him give a reply that's suited to how hes feeling since hes unarmed and getting shot at.

Other times it probably should be like how rattrap is towards tigertron or raptor, but less personal since he doesn't know us as well. But say cheetor is young and probably lower rank than him so he may both be the butt of all his jokes but also goes easy on him since hes "just a kid".
>>

he seems spot on to me

Spot on.

Rattrap is a dick to everyone except his friends, to his friends he's just a bitch.

depends did he learn about our duel with Opitimujs or not if he did then yeah he'd probably see us in a similer light to Dinobot if a bit less hostile if he didn't he still wouldn't like us but that's more cause hes a dick
