>The Intro
Hey y'all. If you couldn't tell, this quest will be taking place in the well known DC Comics universe. Here there be gods and monsters, magicians and aliens, and even a clown or two. But bear in mind that due to various time travel related and or multiversal shenanigans, the DC world is ridiculously complex as a whole. So I'll be running a very streamlined version of it. And to be up front about it, it will likely be shaped by my own likes, dislikes, and biases.
Oh, and aforementioned shenanigans won't be making an appearance.
Mostly.

>The Rules
I will write up the life of our young hero Morgan Barret, a high school student who has just begun his career as a superhero in Gotham City as Gray Ghost, you will be given prompts to direct him.
Some things will require a dice roll to determine success or failure or something else entirely. Write In's are absolutely encouraged but I reserve the right to torpedo anything.

The voting period will last 20 minutes after the prompts are given. I will then announce the voting closed and write up the chosen response.

>The Dice
We will be using 1d100 ninety percent of the time here. Best of three. We might use something else when applicable. I'll be running with a loose sort of degrees of success/failure thing here so no real DCs.

You'll never understand why people tend to hate the rain. Water pelts one of the many windows of the classroom while the teacher drones on in the background. The rain pouring down the glass creates a watery portal to another world as you watch through it. The clouds gathered making it seem later in the day than it actually is. You've never found something to dislike about the rain, the smell, the way it waters any plants, creates drinking water for animals, and you'll take any old excuse to throw up your hood.

It's been a couple weeks since your first mission with the Titans. The Teen Titans. Dick insists they haven't completely decided on a name yet but everyone else seems to be deadset on that one. You've taken a shine to it yourself. It really ain't half bad. You've kind of been riding the high of your first real, official outing being such a success in the end. You all walked away from that HIVE molehill with a bundle of their secrets, someone they wanted to cut up for her abilities, and shut the whole place down in the process.

Speaking of your new martian acquaintance. That girls got more guts than she let on. She explained to you all how she implanted a psychic suggestion in a HIVE scientist to have them send out the signal so she could possibly get rescued. She did that just before they suppressed her whole psychic deal and threw her in a cell. Currently, she's staying at Dick's place. Apparently, the guy can bring by martian chicks and give them asylum and whoever he's staying with is cool with it. He did say you could come visit some time.

But your time in rainworld doesn't last, as you find yourself being brought back into reality by a sharp snapping next your ears. You lean away from the sound and look up to see Professor MacPherson giving you what can only be a disapproving look under her slightly green lenses. "I'm glad you're still with us, Mr.Barret, you wouldn't want to miss the details on your first large project of the year." She walks back up to the front of the class and silences the few students snickering at you with a look before continuing.

"Today, I'll be assigning your Gotham History projects." The whole class lets out a low groan but she waits until everyone is done complaining before she finishes. "This could be quite fun, if you're willing to put the work into it. Gotham has a story for every building, every statue, every crack in the ground. It's a very old city, so finding a subject that piques your interest should not be terribly difficult." She begins passing out thick packets to everyone in the class. "There are only two conditions to this assignment. One, the subject must be on Gotham history, of course. And two, you must complete the assignment with a partner."

That gets a bunch of excited murmurs rather than complaints and students start moving to secure their preferred partner. Let's see, this is one of your classes with everyone you know in it so you can have your pick if you move fast.

>Dick. He's smart, he's your bro, how can you go wrong?
>Barbara. You haven't spent much time with her but maybe you can change that? Besides, Dick claims she's smarter than him.

Artemis sits directly in front of you so you just tap the blonde on her shoulder. "Hey, Blondie. Wanna help each other out?"

She stretches out her arms before answering, having gotten comfortable on the wooden desk. "Sure. This'll be easy anyways There're plenty of subjects to choose from."

"Oh really wise one? You got something in mind already?" Your pencil spins between your fingers idly as you continue to watch the rain.

Artemis turns in her seat to face you while you talk. "Sure, we could do one on the Miagani Tribe. They lived in Gotham before it was Gotham. Then they apparently disappeared sometime before the 17th century. Oh, or maybe Slaughter Swamp? There are so many ghost stories about that place. Or what about Arkham? That place is old as hell too and it's history has got plenty of murder so it won't be boring at least."

Just a little stunned, you slouch back into your chair. "Artemis Crock. Are you a history nerd?"

"N-no. C'mon, you can't tell me you don't find stuff like this to be at least a little bit interesting?"

"Only Gotham, really. Before I moved here I would hear people call it cursed and shit y'know? And now, I see what they mean. It's like, no matter how much you clean it up it's still real dark at it's core. Like you just can't change what it is."

She just smirks. "Looks whose waxing poetic now."

You poke the eraser end of your pencil into her elbow, making her yelp in surprise. "Hey, you asked a question, I answered. We gonna pick a topic or what?"

"I could write this report in my sleep on anything I mentioned, or anything else for that matter. So why don't you choose?"

"Pfft, show off."

>"Let's do it on the Miagani. Disappearing native tribe, what's not to love?"

You eye the clock up on the wall, awaiting the tone of the bell. "Might as well go with Arkham, worlds most insecure loony bin."

"Okay, we've got two week to finish the thing so... meet me at the gym and we'll work on it there. Sound good?" Artemis starts packing up in anticipation of the bell's ring.

"Totally. Seeya when I seeya." And almost on cue, the bell sounds off and you can practically hear the classroom tense up waiting for MacPherson's permission to leave. She waves everyone off and you join the sea of bodies in the hall soon after. You all migrate practically as one unit up to the great big double doors in the main hall. Through the rhythm of traffic, you end up with the door closing in your face as you come to pass through it, leaving the great big gaudy poster for the Valentine's dance in front of you. Right.

The rain is pouring outside, making it otherwise normal chilly day into a wet sloshy kind of afternoon. You throw your hood on as you exit the classroom building and start your march for the bus yard. It'll probably never cease to amaze you how much money this school has. Even the buses are custom. They've got a GA colors paintjob and the drivers are real professionals, not like the parolee type of bus driver you're use to seeing.

You sit down without much fuss between the rain and crowds of students and just enjoy the buzz of conversation and the constant patter of rain until your pocket buzzes. Hm, it's Dick.

(Really comin down. Gonna be a wet night out tonight.)

[Just don't forget ur non slip boots birdman]

[Hows the houseguest?]

(Still green. Full of questions.)

[About?]

(Everything! The walls, the dog, the cars, the rain. It like the rain. Never ending.)

[Okay good luck with that Shakespeare]

After some silent deliberation you shrug and head for your second bus and shoot your mom a text while you walk. [Heading for the gym, be home later]

You wipe the raindrops off of your phone before sliding in back in your pocket and step onto your bus. Ah yes, Gotham City public transit. If there's one good thing you can say about even Suicide Slums, Metropolis public transit was always top notch. Clean, rare breakdowns or delays. No such standards here. You resist the urge to plug your nose as you pick a seat and slide your earbuds in.

----

As you enter the front doors of Gran'ts Gym you're a little surprised to find the place bereft of familiar faces. Artemis probably just decided to go home and it's always a toss up if Dinah's around or not but where the hell is Ted. He's practically a universal constant in here. You check the back and inside of the salty old boxer's office but you come up empty. Eventually you assume he must be down in the ol' superhero den so you close up the office and take the elevator down.

Aaaaaand still no Ted. Welp, you've got no reason to worry about the old guy. He can more than handle himself. You can still feel those punches of his during your practice matches, like he's just got sledgehammers for hands. And he's way faster and more nimble than anyone would expect out of a guy his age. And he doesn't even look his age! The buckle kept him younger than he should've been for years. But he told you he wanted to toss the thing as soon as he learned what it was doing.

Doctor Fate explained that life cannot simply be returned or created by most beings or artifacts. And that this one had to take a life before giving back to the one wearing it. Ted says he was supposed to die twice while he was wearing it. Two lives he'll never even know anything about. But he'll sure won't ever forgive himself. Realizing you've got the underground to yourself for once you settle in to give your muscles a beating.

----

You're just walking out of the office when you hear Ted's bike approaching. The rain cleared up while you were working so you just stroll out to meet him. He pulls his bike into a personal small outdoor garage near the parking lot and nods when he sees you. "Afternoon, kid. Glad to see you ain't skipping out on your regimen."

"Wouldn't dream of it." Your eyes, stray down to Ted's bike, the big machine looks pretty old. Though you'd call it classic. He's probably had this thing for decades.

>"Where were you? You never just leave the gym alone, at least not without calling me to stand in."
>"Y'know, we never did get around to driving lessons."

"So, what happened?"

Ted just quirks an eyebrow at your question as he sets his helmet down. "What makes you think something happened?"

"Because, as long as I've been here you've never left the gym unattended, at least not without calling me first."

He scratches his 5 o'clock shadow and starts doing all kinds of checks in his bike. "Dinah needed my help on a case, it was a bit of an emergency."

"And what the hell does Dinah constitute as an emergency?"

"A real headcase by the name of Merlyn. Been trying to put her boyfriend on ice for years."

"Huh, Green Arrow? Artemis told me but I just kinda assumed she was joking."

Ted laughs under his bike. "Yeah, I can see why you'd feel that way. But the guys got his head on straight. Wasn't always that way though. That girl never stopped bein trouble."

Yeah sure. He says that but he's got a smile on his face. Your eyes trail back to the bike. "Y'know... we never did get around to those driving lessons. Too busy pounding the fighting lessons into me."

The old guy actually looks surprised for a moment before his face settles back into it's usual grimace. "With you flyin around and whatnot I thought you wouldn't be too interested in learning."

"Well, I'm pretty slow on my own. Not to mention that there's no way it could hurt to get my license soon. And I'm not always gonna have a grapnel handy."

"Ha! True enough. Okay kid, I promised to teach ya everything I can so let's get you started."

You and Ted end up back at the gym after dark, not late yet by any means but now it the time when Gotham really wakes up. You know that now. When you walk in you spot Artemis and it seems she's at the end of her daily workout. "Hey Blondie, you done with your daily grind?"

"Just about. You thinking about the project? Or..."

"Or?"

"Or we can head out on patrol? Crime never sleeps and all that."

The blonde just laughs as she heads for the ladies showers. "Only you could make homework about vigilantism, Morgan."

You're not kept waiting long, Artemis comes back out refreshed and you both take up seats in the waiting area. "Okay, let's get this ball rolling." You take out your phone and a notebook. "So, before I just google it, What do you know about Arkham.?"

Artemis gets comfortable in the wide chair and takes out her own writing tools before continuing, bouncing her feet on the edge of the chair. "Well, for one. It wasn't always called Arkham Asylum. It used to be called Mercey Mansion. Back when it was first founded."

"No foolin? Why'd they change it?"

She shrugs. "Don't know that but I imagine it was to tie it to the late owner and founder, Amadeus Arkham. He founded the place after his wife and daughter were murdered and raped by some horrible man that went by the nickname Mad Dog."

Whoa. "Holy shit, I knew this wouldn't be a happy story but goddamn."

"I'm just telling you what I know." She narrows her eyes. "And what you would already know if you didn't spend half your time in MacPherson's class daydreaming, Morgan."

"Okay okay, don't shoot. Let's get writing on this thing before I fall asleep.

Once you and Artemis get into the groove of things you hardly need to put down your pencils. Except for any online searches. The cape sites actually prove pretty helpful in telling you more about modern day Arkham. What with all of it's high tech security and specialized vault they apparently put The Joker himself inside of when he comes to visit. Though a few entries on the site seem to be from someone who claims to have worked as an orderly at Arkham.

He says that the Joker never breaks out through force, he always finds some way to make his release the only option. Then he goes back out there to wreak havoc again. He's also saying that he never resists while he's inside, and that he claims to like his stays there. The clown must have plenty of pull to be able to call on something like that just whenever he feels like it. It strikes you while reading this that you haven't seen a hint of him since you began your career here.

You're aren't sure if that should only make you more concerned. If Batman struggles with him so hard every single time he resurfaces then you can't afford to screw around if- when you finally meet him. You've seen the pictures online, things they won't show on the news. The kinds of things his does to people. Only someone that twisted could enjoy a stay at Arkham.

Your research even leads you to names you recognize. Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and even new ones like Victor Zsasz. A sick bastard that has a fascination with cutting himself and other people. His MO is cutting up someone so they die of bllod loss and leaving them posed up like they were doing something entirely mundane. Like vacuuming, or reading, checking the fridge. You sigh loudly after letting silence reign for a while. "All these crazies in one place. What the fuck is wrong with Gotham."

Artemis closes her notebook and stands to stretch. "There's nothing wrong with it. Sure. It's a troubled place but with the kind of world we live in, nowhere is completely safe. Gotham is special, I think."

You just scratch the back of your head, a little humbled. "Spoken like a true Gotham native."

"Well, if I had to claim anywhere as my hometown, this is it." She whips out her phone while you pack your things up and looks out the large windows of the gym at the city. "You still wanna head out? It's still pretty early we did good work."

You take one look at that Gotham skyline and your minds already made up. "Abso-friggin-lutely. Let's suit up."

She parks quickly in an alleyway and presses a button on her bikes small console and out pops a rack with two extra quivers. She exchanges the one on her back for a new one before flashing you a thumbs up. And you're off.

It doesn't take long to reach the large area where the fires are occurring, though you are slowed a bit by the people that came out onto the streets to avoid the growing flames as Artemis uses alleys and and sidewalks to evade them. You're approaching where the latest call came from when you see it. In the distance a consistent glow, moving across the night sky, but low enough to the ground to make you suspicious. Firefly.

You're about to let Artemis know you two are gaining on him when you round the corner and meet with a three story building going up in flames. Damn him, he must've just been here! "Artemis, you ready down there?"

"Definitely, just follow me in!" She hops off the bike after parking it nearby and shoots an arrow that digs into the side of the building and leaves a line of cord leading back to her. Then she clips something to her belt and presses a button on her bow. It quickly carries her up to the third story window and she rolls in after opening the window. You disperse and float inside after her, and it's not any prettier inside the building.

This room is halfway on fire as it is, and you've only got so many of the suppression capsules. But Artemis is unfazed. She fires an arrow into the flames and it explodes into a similar foam to your capsules, not nearly as sticky. You start making your way through the place looking for anyone trapped inside. Artemis putting out fires with her arrows when she can. Then you hear it, the building creaking. The fires only spreading. The groaning of the dying building almost made you miss it, someone coughing.

Okay guys. Something urgent has come up and I've gotta go. I have no idea how long this will take since I don't know how long I'll be out taking care of this. I feel bad though, today was already kind of low energy without me having to leave during the session but such is life. Be back when I can.
>>
>>1790733
No apologies needed Sleepy, take your time. And low energy isn't bad, we need a break from the action every once in a while
>>

It's fine, Sleepy.

No worries pal. Do what you need to do.

There no need to apologize, and even if this is "low energy" it's still better than what I normally read.

Thank you, once again.

Alright guys. I have something to say here. And it might be good, might be terrible, might be a mixed bag. I'm discontinuing Metahuman Quest. But I am not quitting QMing. My life is going to go back to being pretty busy soon and tonight's emergency gave me some time to reflect on this quest so far and I am not satisfied. I'm loathe to admit it but I feel I should've offered you all more choice in all you did. Whether I realized it or not I feel I made some decisions for you where as I should've left it up to player vote.

I also feel unsatisfied writing within an existing universe. When I first started developing ideas for potential quests to run I came up with another Cape quest in an original setting. When I narrowed them all down it came down to that and this quest. In the end I chose this quest because I felt it would be easier to start questing with a fanfic quest with a large pre-installed fanbase which (at least before recently) hadn't been catered to much on /qst/ and /tg/ before it.

So here we are, I started Metahuman Quest and it's been fun but even if you liked it today's session has been a slog for me. And what do I say in the beginning of every thread? Have fun. I'm doing this for fun, to improve my writing by exposing it to other people online, and to put some of these ideas of mine to use instead of gathering dust in my head.

With all that being said. I'm going to soon be starting a new quest using that very same original Cape setting idea I mentioned before. I'm going to call it Abhuman Quest. I can give you all my full pitch if you want it. But for now, here's the bare bones. In this quest, you will play an Abhuman. A human who is capable of great and strange things by no fully understood function. You'll be living in a world that's already seen the advent of Heroes, Aliens, Monster, and more. The focus of the quest will be whatever you decide it to be. With MQ I feel like I unconsciously pushed you to be a hero. I saw plenty of folks when the quest was brand new talking about being more of a rogue character, not firmly in either category. And I didn't give you enough chance to do that.

Not to mention that I feel stifled working within this universe, I feel like all I'm doing is retreading ground of stories that have already been told.

So this quest will have a greater emphasis on freedom and building yourself up from the beginning. It'll include a power expanding function from the start and you'll have more expansive character creation. You'll have several origins, several powers and plenty of smaller choices to make that will shape the MC.

I know that for some of you this is a deal breaker. I'd understand perfectly if you just called me a faggot and never came back. But I'll ask you all to join me on Abhuman Quest. I'll be putting in all my effort to make it just as enjoyable as this, if not more so.
>>
>>1791604
TLDR?
I am dissatisfied with Metahuman Quest, and so I am discontinuing it to start Abhuman Quest, a similar quest in function that will offer more freedom and an original setting. I'm truly sorry if you don't want to join me on the next one. But I wanna say thank for sticking around either way.

If you guys have any questions about Metahuman Quest that won't be answered now, or if your just curious. Fire away.
>>
>>1791614
How far along was the Artemis waifu route? Will you be running abhuman at the same time MQ was, or will it change?
>>
>>1791622
It was getting there. I wanted you guys to have more time to meet more girls before committing to a waifu. But everyone kept voting for her so it was only a matter of time unless some girl stole the show.

I will be running Abhuman Quest at the same time. I may be able to run more often once my life gets less hectic.
>>
>>1791687
Ok a few observations.
1. Always have a goal in mind when you write. As a rule sandbox quests end poorly and are aimless. Or worse they start needing more and more bullshit adfed in and cause plot holes.

2. Anons are idiots. While we've been lucky and have anons that try to think through things, on average anons are as observant as bricks and don't think more than one maybe two steps ahead. Don't rely on good planning unless you make it clear that's requiered. If you do? Expect a smaller audience.

3. Don't write what you are not comfortable with. Otherwise you WILL either drop the quest or burn out
>>
>>1791725
Thanks for the advice. I didn't mean to make it seem like a sandbox style quest. It's just that players will have far more agency in who the MC is next time around. Sure, they'll also have more control in what they do as an extension but I know to avoid the "wat do?" pitfall

Oh and
>Don't write what you are not comfortable with. Otherwise you WILL either drop the quest or burn out

One of my top three rules is to never offer something I'm not willing to write. It'll always turn out worse for both me and the players. Thanks again. Do you think you'll try out Abhuman quest?
>>
>>1791759
If I'm awake and not busy with life? Yeah I'll give it a try.
>>
>>1791759
as depressed as I am about metahuman quest canceling, because I really loved this quest, I understand you not wanting to do something you don't enjoy and respect the fact you didn't just die on us. So fine, I'll try it, I'm reluctant because one of my favorite quests just died, but I'll try it.
>>
>>1791776
>>1791785
Hell yeah.

And thanks anon. The last thing I wanna do is jut quit on y'all. Too damn many QMs do that these days. I'll do my best to hook you.

I have to ask though, what do you like about MQ? If it's not just the DC universe then I can have a better idea of how to keep the magic alive.
>>
>>1791848
Legitimate character growth, an established universal narrative that had a unique character and unique powerset meshing well together.
>>
It really did feel like we were retreading shit thats been done before, was fun at the beginning though.

>>
>>1791848
what toruc said, one of the biggest appeals about morgan's character was his clear growth and developing into his roll. Watching him slowly flesh out and become the Gray Ghost was really fun. What metahuman did that was so different was that the MC wasn't this perfect man or some pragmatic character that only did shit that was logical or to get ahead. He felt like an actual normal person slowly learning on his chosen path.

>>1791882
Thanks for the kind words anon. That's something I explicitly tried for at all times. I hate it when quests have an MC that's perfect or makes logical reasonable decisions at all times despite how they may feel or what motivates them as a character. I will carry this into Abhuman Quest.
>>
>>1791893
It was mostly anons voting the same way in every quest but making morgan with a set history helped stave that off for a while before obvious and optimum choices got picked like the academy or all the artimis time.

Just don't give us too much choices.
By that i mean letting us pick what we find in encounters or other peoples responses or letting us know shit our character shouldn't know at the time..

Definitely keen to try Abhuman Quest, non established universe quests are great, it's just frustrating that they don't tend to attract much of a playerbase
>>
>>1792002
Thanks for the quest OP and good luck with your new one!

Did enjoy the mix of action and comfy this one had.
>>
While I'm really disappointed and frustrated that you would just up and quit writing this quest, in the end you gotta do what makes you happy. It just sucks that it feels like all the time invested into this quest was horribly wasted. Hopefully this isn't the end of Morgan's story.

However if you flake on your new quest too than you are a gigantic faggot.

Can't lie, still feel pretty fucking disappointed.
>>
>>1792212
>it's just frustrating that they don't tend to attract much of a playerbase
Exactly. But I'm determined to make it work. I'll have tons more fun just writing what I want in a Cape quest and not walking on eggshells trying not to tell a story DC has already told.

>>1792216
>Did enjoy the mix of action and comfy this one had.
I'll try and keep that alive too. All action all the time doesn't work for most quests I think. You need down time.

>>1792276
Trust me anon. I do share your feelings. Wish I had the guts to run Abhuman in the first place. But I was a first time QM and now it's hard to get a quest off the ground unless your lucky or just that good. I hope you join us on Abhuman.
>>
>>1792569
Well shit. Can't say I'm not a little bummed out, was super happy about my Gray Ghost suggestion being pick. Oh well, will be checking your twitter to see about Abhuman.
>>
By the way OP, you can - if you end up feeling up for it at some point - type out a sort of epilogue for the gray ghost into a pastebin, for benefit of those who feel like the story was cut off too abruptly.
>>
>>1792569
While I'm willing to try abhuman quest and I understand why you weren't into metahuman anymore, can I ask that you at least give Metahuman quest a somewhat open ended ending/epilogue. It was just too well made to have it just be a cancelled, undone quest to add to the pile. All I ask is that it be given an ending so that we can at least see it as short but sweet quest about a kid learning to become a hero and even achieving it, rather than just a quest that died. I think if you at least gave metahuman that much, people would be less angry or sad about the whole thing and more people would probably be more willing to give your next quest a chance.
>>
>>1792698
>>1792711
>>1792723
An epilogue huh? I think I can do that. What exactly do you want from it? Like a possible future kind of deal? Or maybe just some words to close out the whole thing?
>>
I'm disappointed but as a QM myself, I understand exactly where you're coming from.

I liked this quest because as others have already stated, you could see Morgan's growth. Hell, his speech patterns even reflected this after training with Ted, his language got more rough, such as dropping letters in his speech.

I do have some questions.

>What would Morgan's mom think if we revealed that we were the Gray Ghost?
>Who ever killed Morgan's father was he an Original Character or established DC character?
>Who were the love interests that Morgan ultimately could have ended up with?
>Finally, could we had our own supervillain archenemy?

The only reason I'm going into Abhuman Quest is that you already have proven yourself as a great QM. Though I should argue that everyone picking Artemis was because you wrote really well. Hell, If it came up I would have jumped at the chance.

>>1792951

Possible future is nice, maybe seven years into the future.
>>
>>1792951
well at the end of the day it's your story, but I suppose some sort of extrapolations on how the young heroes established themselves along the lines of "and this is how gotham got a bit safer for a time"
>>
>>1793007
>What would Morgan's mom think if we revealed that we were the Gray Ghost?
She'd be terrified that she'd lose him, naturally. But you could work to convince her that it's your chosen path in life. She'd definitely feel better knowing that your powers make it so you can't be touched by most things.

>Who ever killed Morgan's father was he an Original Character or established DC character?
I had decided eventually that it was an OC, as I think you'd all see it coming a mile away if I used an established character. Morgan's father, James, was a DEO agent. And he was instrumental in the very quiet white martian invasion that happened that most people aren't even aware of. It would have been one of the first times the League worked together as a team. He used an experimental weapon on a certain white martian and stripped him of his psychic powers. Now keep in mind that to a martian that's like making him blind, deaf and mute. So naturally, he was very upset and became obsessed with revenge. He escaped and took James when he was off guard. The DEO subtly took control of the investigation and got Morgan's mother the job in Gotham as a favor to James' family. You honestly could've began the search for him at any time but if you went a long time without thinking about it I would've had it so that the martian kills another DEO agent involved with the incident and you end up investigating the murder and recognizing how similar it was to your fathers murder. What you did with the martian would color what kind of hero you'd become.

>Who were the love interests that Morgan ultimately could have ended up with?
Honestly? Just about any young character around his age. Artemis, Barbara, Megan, Donna. And then others would come along, Raven was set to make an appearance after a long arc of dealing with the Blood Cult. Supergirl was going to crash in Gotham not so long after that. And I wasn't going to regulate you to heroes of course. The characters that could've but didn't make an appearance based on rolls and choices you guys made were ones like Killer Frost and Rose Wilson. So yeah, I was trying to give you guys options but it'd be bullshit to introduce a million female characters at once.

>Finally, could we had our own supervillain archenemy?
Absolutely. Could've been the white martian depending on how long it took to catch him. Archenemies are personal so it would have to have an impact.

>Though I should argue that everyone picking Artemis was because you wrote really well.
Thanks, for the compliment. I just wanted everyone to realize they had choices before they fell into the "first girl" thing.

>>1793008
I see. I'm not sure how I'll do it but I will do it. No doubt.
>>
>>1792951
Well, we saw how he's being trained and slowly fitting into his role. Maybe do a time skip deal where we see where Morgan ends up, a young adult hero reminiscing about where his life went from there and what happens next for him, maybe show how well established he is at this point in his life.
>>
>>1793306
I'm kinda sad that I just got here to find out Metahuman quest is ending, but I understand.

>>
>>1793306
Well since i'm super duper late to reading this, ill go ahead and say it.

I didn't start this quest off at the 1st thread, i came here when it was at its 4th and actually read every single previous thread in a single day because the writing had me hooked, I enjoyed it a lot. Now i am sad to hear that it isn't continuing, i'm more happy than i am sad to hear you are gonna do something that doesn't depress you like this quest seems to have done right under our noses, or atleast mine.

I'm more than willing to check out abhuman quest because originality( and because its sounds like the one punch universe without saitama) and because you really want to, which well hold your spirits high and actually want to continue writing it, which is the best thing for a quest.

All i wonder now is, when is Abhumans first quest?
>>
>>1795767
>first quest
>which well hold your spirits

First thread*
>>
>>1795767
I'm glad to hear that many of my players are at least willing to give Abhuman a chance. It's the result of an idea for a cape setting that's been germinating in my head for about two years or so. And I'm hoping it will draw in new folks too because I've noticed a severe lack of original cape quests. The only one I know of was... it was called Legacy Quest? Or something to that effect I know it had legacy in the title. I liked it but I think the QM fell off the map after a while.

>All i wonder now is, when is Abhumans first quest?
Abhuman Quest will begin this coming Saturday at 12 pm PST. So the same time I was running Metahuman Quest.
>>
>>1796236
Is there a chance that we could play as Morgan in your new quest world, like he came across an inter dimensional portal to your OC verse and got amnesia?

Cause I fell like a lot of time and effort went into fleshing out Morgan and his abilities, only to throw it all away and start from the bottom again.

You would get to show us all the cool shit the OC universe has to offer, while having a familiar character that is just as new to the world as the players are.

I completely understand why you'd want that. But I have to decline. Honestly, Metahuman Quest didn't get very far and once I can get my schedule together we'll probably blow past thread 7 in no time.

To go into more detail. I want this to be a fresh start. Even if you guys like Morgan a lot I wanna leave this in the rear view mirror. If you want to vote to create a character similar to Morgan? I'm all for that. Go ahead, you will have the options. But I don't want to just carry him over. It feels... cheap? I'm not sure how to describe it but I just would rather leave things from this quest where they are.

There will be more powers to choose from this time. 6 rather than 3 And there will also be origins, allowing you guys to have more ownership over the MC. So if you want to make New!Morgan? More power to you. But I'm not gonna insert him into the new stuff. Sorry.
>>
>>1796333
So all that time put in choosing his hero name, who he trains with, and overall investment into the character is wasted? Great. While it wouldn't be fair for you to run a setting you don't enjoy running, you gotta see that it isn't also fair for the players to ditch absolutely everything. I figured importing Morgan into the new world would be a good compromise for both you and the players. But if not, fine. I just hope this is what you really want to do and don't flake on this quest too.
>>
>>1796333
thats good, just straight importing morgan would be stupid.
>>
>>1796400
Sorry anon, the only way I can really answer this is to run Abhuman as well as MQ, if not more. I hope you give it a chance because I'm not going anywhere. You're right that the investment into the character does in fact go nowhere. But I'm certain that you can find just as much to like in the next Quest. Which once stop until I've run it to completion.
>>
>>1796524
Alright, I'll just ask you one more thing and then I'm done.

I want you to compare your excitement and enthusiasm for getting ready to run Abhuman quest and when you were about to start Metahuman quest.

Are they similar?

To be perfectly honest? It's pretty different. I was nervous as fuck when I started MQ. I constantly wondered if I'd get any players or if I'd be ignored. Especially when other DC quests started popping up. Luckily, I got a very healthy amount of players. But now I'm more confident in my writing, how and when to run. Not to mention that I'm probably more excited/enthusiastic to run Abhuman since I get to just do whatever I want rather than try to conform to something that already exists.

But I see what you're saying. You don't want a repeat. Like I said before. I can promise I wont flake or change my mind all day but the only way to really prove it is just to run the quest. So I hope I see you around in Abhuman, anon.

I second the Anon question CAN we have your Abhuman babies? Also, what's the setting going to be like? Will heroes be more integrated into society, where people go to school to learn to hero? Will it me more classical, with the secret IDs and vigilantism? If so, what tone are you going for? More gritty? Real? Campy? Grim-Dark? BABY PLEASE!

Also lore is cool too, I love lore if you got any...

>CAN we have your Abhuman babies?
Anon, I'm taken.

>what's the setting going to be like?
I was of course inspired by and took bits from both Marvel and DC. I've also taken ques and elements from other really good Capeshit such as One Punch Man, and Hero Academia. It's more on the classical side, vigilantism is still the same and Heroes keep their identities secret 98% of the time. Speaking on America specifically, vigilantes are generally tolerated as long as they do more good than harm and obey all the laws they aren't constantly bending/breaking to do their jobs. There are heroes with public identities that make money hand over fist with endorsements and what not. They're met with a equal amount of controversy from both civilians and other Heroes.

>what tone are you going for?
It won't be much different than Metahuman honestly. It depends on the kind of character you guys roll with and what sort of subject mater they would naturally encounter. I want you to take it seriously, but I also want you to have fun with it and not constantly worry about doing everything right, lest you and everything you care about die. That wouldn't be very fun. Basically, it can get darker or lighter depending on the path you take. It's a wide world out there, and Jewel City has many many facets.

>Also lore is cool too, I love lore if you got any...
Well, I can say that the Quest will be taking place for the most part in a place called Jewel City. A very large city near the east coast of America. It was the hotbed of the reconstruction effort in America after the events of what the American people colloquially refer to as Red Friday. That name is used to reference the morning that alien ships appeared in the sky over America and turned the sky red via atmospheric changes in the air. The three largest corporations in the America and one of the largest companies in the world are based here, and got their start here. It's the largest city in America and considered a focal point of culture and wealth in the country.

Glad you liked it anon!

So is it safe to assume there's say, an agency or at least a group of sorts that deals with heroes? Like say OPM's Hero Association, or The Avengers/Justice League? If so could we join them?
>>
>>1801759
>an agency or at least a group of sorts that deals with heroes
Indeed. They're called The Guild of Heroes. But most just say the Guild. You could definitely join them. You've just gotta make the right connections and prove yourself capable and dedicated. They are quite choosy with their membership so depending on your choice of origin this could take a while or not all that long.

There will be 6 premade powers to select from. All of which are designed to be expanded upon so they'll be plenty of upgrades in the Quest.

>could we form our own superhero group?
Absolutely! There's lots of things to consider in such a venture. Like funding, secrecy and trust within the group, group goals and intentions, how you approach your actions as a group. Let's just say it'd be interesting.

But one of the origins entitles you to a lot of money so you can go for that if you wish. Still applies to your pic

>Cybernetics?
Yes, they are. But they are rare and quite expensive and costly to maintain if they aren't top notch.

>Technomancy
