"I'm pretty sure juniper is smart enough to not eat anything inedible" I say as Lyra glances at me, peeling off a long strip of nearly pure white wood as she does

"Well, what's inedible for her?" She asks turning back to her puppet with a look of frustration on her face "She acts like a dog enough that I'm worried she'll just wolf down anything she can fit in her mouth....pun not intended"

"Well, I mean sure she's kind of doggish at times but that doesn't mean she'll eat paint" I say frowning as Lyra laughs as Holi pouts and floats next to my ear in her shadowy form "Dogs don't do stuff like that"

"Well mine" Lyra begins as Holi whimpers "is it done yet?". But Lyra goes silent and lowers her head, the light in her eyes fading with all the joy on her face soon following.

The chisel she's holding digs into her puppets face, slowly scooping out a side of it, turning its cheek into a horrific gaping wound.

"Lyra?" I ask, lowering my voice and making it soft and gentle as I place my hand on her shoulder "Are you okay?"

"I...I just" She says, her voice sounding lost again "realized something terrible again"

Without saying another word she hugs me, clinging on tightly like she's afraid she'll drift away, her hands shaking as she remains silent

"Ugh... we are kind of dating?" Sheepie said to the small bunny girl as she quickly got dressed, the lazy cat of course didn't care if the small girl saw her naked.

"But isn't wearing clothes important to be civi...civi..."

""Civilised, and yes but we are in my home were is warm and confortable here so I prefer to not wear clothes."

The sheep girl stared surprised at the cat woman, because she actually explained things instead of letting sheepie do it because she was too lazy to do it herself.

"Oh okay, can I get naked too?"

"Nooo, you are a minor! I mean... I prefer if you don't, wait what I wanted to say it... this is like a... girlfriends thing? And you are too young and..." Sheepie head was red as a tomato as she tried to come with a good reason.

"Because is my house and I don't want you to be naked." Lazy cat then hugged the blushing sheep girl. "Mine."

"Okay, can I get some food? I got hungry again."

"Go my sheep go and make cookies!"

Sheepie groaned "I made breakfast can we just buy them?"

How does contractor work anyways? Is it just stacking more into the job class like forest tender or monster master to get better standing with anything we can contract?

Well there's nothing else I can do besides hug her back, so I wrap my arms around her back and hold her tightly, trying to comfort her with my presence, trying to be an anchor for her. She sniffles and doesn't let herself cry, every breath she takes making her chest rattle as she swallows another whimper or sob. the cold air flows around us as I look down at her sad eyes, past her now messy brown hair.

Holi doesn't say a thing, and just sits on my shoulder with a pitying look in her pink eyes. I hug Lyra a little tighter, before I move my arms away from her and straighten back up.

"Well, you two can help yourself to as much cake as you need to, cheer yourselves up a bit....just don't burn yourselves" I say, wagging my finger as I walk over to the oven, and grab my pale green oven mits, shoving them over my hands as I pull open the stove.

"Okay?" I ask, turning away from the rush of hot air that flows away from the cake, making my eyes water

Holi nods, floating dangerously close to the oven as Lyra manages a smile before she frowns and puts her now ruined puppet away in her bag, grabbing a fresh block of wood to work with.

I reach in, and grab the cake and swallow as the rich chocolaty smell makes my mouth water.

Holi floats close by as I begin to cut the steaming cake, keeping her from grabbing a piece until I've divided it up properly....now that I'm serving this, it seems a little unfair to leave Juniper without a slice. So I grab a plate and a healthy, hearty piece of cake as Holi just sits down next to it with a fork.

"Lyra?" I ask, glancing at my friend as she puts the puppet she's making down "Want any cake"

"once I'm done with my puppet" she says under her breath

there might not be any left if she does that/

Where is Juniper anyways? she usually shows up around this time when she doesn't have or want to go to her classes

Well....I'm pretty sure she lives in the woods, so it shouldn't be too hard to find her. Not like she could live too far from the city anyways. I'll just need to find her myself, hopefully before the cake gets too cold.

Closing the door behind myself, I nearly stop when I hear Holi yelp in pain. on instinct, I turn around to see if she's alright, and see she's vanished with half the cake, leaving a steaming fork behind.

I sigh and shake my head

"Watch her when she gets back if you can,please" I say toward lyra, closing the door behind myself as I walk out of the door and begin to head for the stairs, walking past a sleeping sailor who's nursing a bottle by the potted fern he's cuddling up next to.

I smile, waving towards the sleeping monster at the lobby, walking through the door as a tall, thin thing opens it up and crouches inside, its long.....long claws scratch the door frame as I scoot past it and out in the streets.

I sigh, and smile in relief as I see all the busy people in front of me. Because I know the forest isn't going to be this crowded and....well maze like.

"Uh" I say, looking around at the various brambles, thorns, tall trees alive or dead with their reaching almost grasping branches. Red flowers mark the path through the grey grasses that come up to my knees.

I swallow hard, my thoughts filling with the stories my dad told me to make me behave when I was younger. Of all the creatures that live out here in the woods. Of course I'm not scared, considering my magic and everything. But still this place is eerie.

But hey, I know the general direction back to the city so I can't really be that lost. And if I actually am lost I could always just launch myself up into the air using my shield or something like that. I frown, and shrug as I rest against a tree. At least there's nothing out here hunting or stalking me right now...I hope at least. But all these brambles and trees look the same to me, I can't get my barrings and for all I know I've been wandering around in a circle since I lost the trail.

But no reason to panic, I have my locket around my neck and Juniper can't be too far away. And if she is I'm sure she can hear me.

"Juniper! are you around here?! Juniper~! come on I've brought you some cake! Juniper?!" I yell, not too loudly but enough so my voice will carry "Come on! I know you have strong enough ears to hear me! Juniper!"

I don't think its juniper. She doesn't seem the sort to cook, and neither does her brother from what I've seen of him. And even though I'm sure the other people she lives with can cook....the smell doesn't feel right, it makes my skin prickle and shiver.

It smells like when you try to cook a goat without skinning it first....there's a distinct burning smell in the air around the scent of grilling meat and vegetables.

Either way, I don't like the smell of whatever that is, never did. The smell of burning fur always made me feel sick.Its just a horrible smell, and I don't think someone with a nose like Juniper's would be caught dead around anything that reeked like that...But what do I know? maybe she'd enjoy the smell, she certainly doesn't mind covering herself in mud and pond water so she clearly doesn't like what
"normal" girls like

Alright writing

My vision is quickly filled with a massive wall of muddy dirt, Juniper's wild and massive mane of black hair and fur. Her tail is wagging as her rock hard arms and stomach slam into me. I can't help but think of being charged by a very angry cow as the big wolf girl slams into me with all the force of two of them. I can't see anything but her hair now, as it waves in slow motion behind her as the world begins to move at a snail's pace. I think my heart might've stopped from the sheer surprise of what just happened, and because I can feel my feet lifting off the ground as Juniper pushes all of her weight against me like a spear.

I try my best to keep my feet on the ground, and not get tackled into anything by the excited puppy she's acting like now. My heart beats again, like a madman hitting a drum as i manage to get my feet down into the mud, my back bending backwards as I push against juniper and. Her eyes glow in the dim light of the forest, her tail wagging as she growls playfully and pushes me again, her fur covered hands slipping over my now mud covered shoulders

Well I'm not just going to let myself get pushed to the ground after I just got back on my feet! I'm already dirty enough, and I'm barely still holding onto the plate with the cake by some kind of luck. But with How juniper's pushing me, I'm going to drop it and its going to be ruined! With how she's pushing me she's just going to run over it and crush it into the ground! I worked hard on this cake, I am not letting someone just walk all over it! I put my love, blood and tears into this! its a special cake! I won't let her push me around and ruin it.

Besides, this is kind of fun. it'd be a lot funner if I wasn't trying to save Juniper's cake from the girl herself, but hey what can you do? I feel my feet slowly pushing through the cold dirt under them. Holding the plate over my head, I push against juniper with my arm and shoulder, trying to stay where I am. She snarls, lowering her head and pushing her weight against me as she leans over me and takes a step forward

I bite my lip, leaning against her trying to hold the cake higher as she continues to push and force herself against me still trying to push me to the ground to claim victory in this wrestling match she's forced me into against her.

Her claws rake through the mud, dirt, and rocks under our feet, kicking up old thorns and rotting leaves and vines as she steps forward against me, slowly sliding down as I don't give her an inch. and just when I think I'll fall, and slip into the mud and everything else my foot touches something solid and as if by instinct, I twirl around in a dance standing on the tips of my toes as I balance the plate on my palm. Teetering, I dance away with a twirl, letting Juniper slip down into the mud with a surprise yelp. She snorts, pushing herself back up, her face coated with dirt as she grins and wags her tail. But before she pounces me again, I set the cake and plate down in front of her.

She tilts her head in confusion and sniffs it curiously, leaning as close to it as she can

"What's this then?" She asks

She chuckles and plucks out a glob of black frosting, licking it off of her claw as I smile and try to brush some of the dirt off of me.

"And why I cam here, besides to see you of course" I say, hoping that my good white shirt isn't going to be permanently stained brown now, I sigh and let it drop back down as Juniper sticks a chunk of cake into her gob before she looks up at me "did you really think I came out here just to wrestle with you?"

"Na, I thought you were lost and scared, so I decided to cheer you up" She sneers, licking frosting from her fur "And maybe to scare ya a little, heehe"

"Yes I do, and I take it you enjoyed the cake then juniper?" I ask as she stops licking her hands for a moment to nod "Oh, well that makes me happy, do you think I could visit your home for awhile and"

"Why?" I ask, grabbing onto her arms, kicking my feet as I try not to fall even though I know she's got a good grip on me since my sides are now killing me

She grins, flashing all over her fangs as she tilts her head and ears, her tail wagging slowly as she laughs and begins to run, making me dig my nails into her arms and hang on for dear life swallowing my scream as I try not to kick anything in my....slight panic.

"Because I can! and you'll just trip over something if you walk! Humans like you are always so clumsy! so its faster just to carry you there! isn't it?" She says,still cackling in such a way that I'm pretty sure she just wants to carry me around for no real reason besides my reaction

"I can just nuclear rush if you're worried about time!?" I yell as I duck my head down, trying not to get knocked out by one of the low hanging branches "And get your claws off of my stomach"

"And burn the forest down? that'll make a lot of people mad at you" She says, still smiling smugly before she lifts her thumbs off of my stomach "Sorry, forgot you were squishy considering what Lyra did to you"

"I just don't like having claws on my stomach" I say defensively "and I'd be careful"

"Eh, funner to carry you like this anyways" She says "I could always just bite the back of your shirt if this isn't, comfortable for you, heehe"

"....that's a joke right?" I ask as she shrugs and nearly drops me

"Sorry" She says, frowning as she holds me tighter and then softens her grip remembering that she has claws "and yeah, you're too big...I think, Hey mind if I try"

Guessing Lifa took care of that problem with her fancy plants. Then again, I don't know whatever bounty already existed, besides beasts and foolish flowers.

When Juniper finally stops running, my head is spinning. My stomach still feels like its bouncing around because of my friends bounding sprint, and everything feels a little cold still. She sets me down against a bench that seems to have been made out of still living roots and crouches next to me with a smile.

"You're looking a little.... green?" She says, poking my stomach "Why are humans always so funny?"

I blink, still trying to keep my stomach out of my throat as I blink and try to figure out what to say to her.

"If you're going to be sick, don't get it in my fur" She says, backing away as I try to laugh

"Just a little shaken up, I'm not going to throw up" I say as I try to stand on my shake legs and try to take in my surroundings as Juniper gives me more breathing room than I actually need.

And...for a second I feel like I've just been knocked out or woken up.What I'm looking at is straight out of a dream. The trees aren't like the others in the forest. They're just as imposing, but somehow they're taller than most of the buildings in the city and much more...welcoming? Beautiful? Inviting? I don't know what word describes them but maybe awe inspiring is the right one? their bark is a much more colorful hue than the ones of the other trees, some of them as white as polished marble, others a brown or tan that is more close to that of a fawn's hide than anything else.They look healthy and ancient, with leaves of auttumn colors and even more colorful shades even though its the middle of the summer and most of them are twisted together forming "Streets" and bridges far above my head.

I manage to drag my eyes down, seeing massive stones that seem to have melted into buildings or were placed into the ground long ago, naturally jutting out of the loamy ground and pale almost blue grasses. Fruits glow like lanterns or light bulbs, hanging from the branches along with thick and ripe berries. Flowers blossom as odd, plant like people hanging on the branches, all of them resembling some of the more monsterous plants I've seen in this forest in some way. I try not to blink, seeing more wonders as Beast like monsters like Juniper walk through this almost fairytale village, all of them looking like the beasts they once were, I see some that are more unique than the rest but only glimpse of golden scales, pale white feathers or fur or skin as red as a sunset I can't tell which it is though. Wolves like juniper sit together, skulls covering their faces, wild hair covering their bodies.

A thing with a snake like body slither's over me, as a bunch of satyr's dance and sing together, their hoofed legs adding a new rythme as they're watch by a stag horned man with a boney frame and sickly wings.

"How" I begin to speak, finding my voice again as the stones light up with an crystal that shimmers a pale blue, trying not to get distracted by the odd....almost mole like hills doting the "road" "how did you all make this?"

"Its much funner here to, people don't have sticks up their asses and their aren't any stupid rules around here" she says, nodding as I smile....maybe this is why she was the one the viper "Most of us don't go to the city, since being human is a little...odd still for most of them I think, but hey, its fun to I know we're all more....ourselves now if that makes sense and why am I talking about all this anyways?"

"Guess you just found something to ramble about" I say shrugging as she nods

"Tch, Its annoying" She growls, crossing her arms as I stand up "But yeah, this is where I am if I'm not at school or around you, pretty nice huh? better than all that dead stone and crap right?"

"Why don't you have any farms or anything yet?"I ask as she laughs

"bah, that's stuff is dumb" She cackles "Why do you need to care for anything when things grow by themselves? And why work when we can just buy food from the city?"

I glare at her

"Uh...farming isn't stupid?" She says awkwardly "besides, it isn't in your nature"

"Clearly, so....you just all have endless free time then?" I say, raising and eyebrow as I notice an even taller wolf, not wearing a skull....oh its her brother, I can recognize that smile they both share from a mile

"Juniper!" He yells

"YEW" Juniper yells as they rush and hug each other. Her brother isn't wearing a shirt, and his pants are torn and baggy and he has a beard of....fur or boar like hair, can't really tell

"Ah, you've got the strong girly to, the little sheep girl" He sneers "I recognize your scent farm girl"

"Carol, her name is carol" Juniper growls before she smiles "And you've met him once right? when we first met? His name is yew, so remember it, he's kind of an idiot"

"Tch, I'm just as wild as you are and don't call the pot black" He says, ruffling her hair, making her growl "You smell just as tasty as ever, Carol girl"

"Carol" Juniper huffs "And she does doesn't she? maybe because she likes baking so much she smells like that?"

"Yah, sweet like the one woman" Yew says nodding as they both sniff around me

So are there other beginner towns? Do other kingdoms have their own problems, like undead kingdoms, or an earthquake raising a long dormant factory that's flooding machines across the lands, or is it only about Ker'larn's problem?

If you have Katie appearing, I would prefer it if it just ends up as a quest where players and npc request you and others to guide them to mapleton, instead of just someone in our party being interested, but thats just me.

Ker'larn is of course....well Ker'larn

the other kingdom on the continent Razlithur, is....well it is its own problem in some ways, not to mention Toladar doesn't appreciate their world view but they are currently at peace and Razlithur deals with other continents more often

Toladar worship the seven and their various angels and are often considered Zealotic by people who don't have to constantly deal with taint

Razilthur is much more open to other stuff, which isn't a good idea with taint around, especially when you're like they are(valuing power and cruelty more than virtues)

Oversized non-blurry version

If there is one thing I don't like about procreate it's that it doesn't resize well. When you draw something and size it down it blurs out like that, drives me bananas.

It's either blurry version, or upload actual filesize which is a hundred times larger than I actually drew it, making it also look crap, just in a different way. You can't win.

Only that Lazy Cat maxed up her hiding skill so literally only Magical Girls, Magical Girls "Pets" and Magical Girl fairies can see her. And she is not sure Magical Pets guides still exist.

Since that still doesn't hide her from Magical Girls she considers that she wasted her time.

All her "basic skills" are maxed because she lived so freaking long and she didn't bother to get new magical skills like being able to make regular monsters lazy.

So she could put all humans in the city to sleep in minutes, but why bother?

Heck she might actually be older than the Vampires, since back when she was a Magical Pet the idea was "new".

She is just much weaker such an old monster should be because she envoidies laziness. To compensate she is quite smart and resourceful, hence why she has stayed under the radar for so long.

I wonder if a magical girl who is also a normal monster would be affected by her powers or not? Probably our lovely doggie would be afected only if she transforms.

And fairies are replacements of the talking animals so they are close enough they would get affected but probably have some weak resistance.

Of course a vampire or an untransformed doggie girl wouldn't be affected at all. Hence why she just let's the other chaos monsters get all the attention.
