From your new hiding place you can see the grave robber a bit better. He looks like an ordinary human. It will probably take him an hour to finish digging. The Groundskeeper may not arrive in time.
What do?

>Continue waiting for the groundskeeper to arrive
>Sneak up on him while he's distracted
>Send your companion Alina to get the groundskeeper while you wait
>Approach the grave robber without sneaking

Ah. I finally caught one of your quests in progress...

Feels good. Feels right...

...

Before I make a choice could you tell me the effect and casting range of the following spells:

> Alarm

> Hold Portal
>>
>>1767689
Alarm
10 metres
Level 1
Abjuration
Creates a ~10 metre area of effect, if something that isn't "white listed" by the caster enters the area a loud alarm sounds. Can also be cast as a silent alarm, in which case only the caster will hear the sound.

Hold Portal
50 metres
Level 1
Abjuration
Seals a thing that can be opened and shut for a few minutes. Affects: doors, windows, curtains, gates, shutters, and containers. The door can still be broken down.

The only possible target for hold portal would be a coffin.

Okay...

...

If the graverobber is less than 10 meters away from us:

> (Write-in) Cast Alarm so that the graverobber is between you and the alarm.

...

If the graverobber is more than 10 meters away:

>Sneak up on him while he's distracted

Despite your familiarity with Abjuration you mess up the spell. Nothing happens.

A bit later the thief uncovers the grave. The groundskeeper is nowhere to be seen.

He takes the corpse from the coffin and starts carrying it away.
You follow him but on the way you step on a particularly dry crunchy stick.

The thief freezes.

Alina speaks
"Hey aren't you one of old man Terric's farm boys?"

"That's just my day job -I mean, no! I've never heard of Old man 'Jerric'"

>Great, now we know where you live, you may as well surrender.

You console him, then you force him to take you to the rest of the bodies. He takes you to a small hovel on the outskirts of town.

Inside there lies a table with a bone saw and various human bones.

"I'm sorry I took the bodies, I want to learn necromancy but no one lets me study cadavers. It's not like anyone was using them! I study as much as I can until I'm caught then I get banished and move onto the next town. Please don't turn me in. I'll pack up and leave Appleby, you'll never hear from me again."

>Sorry, the undertaker promised me 50 Talons to catch you. I'm taking you in.
>You can't just go around animating the dead, it's a danger to everyone! Especially if you're untrained.
>Necromancy is not a respectable school, try a real school, like abjuration.

"I have a job! And abjuration sucks! Necromancy is a respectable NOBLE school it just happens to have one spell that's sometimes dangerous."

>Sorry, the undertaker promised me 50 Talons to catch you. I'm taking you in.

>"You can't just go around animating the dead, it's a danger to everyone! Especially if you're untrained."

"Well maybe if study of necromancy was allowed a safer version of the spell could be developed and I could receive appropriate training. I had to teach myself everything because there's no way to find a necromancy teacher!"

>I've heard enough, I'm taking you in
>Animating the dead is immoral, even when it isn't dangerous. I'm taking you to the garrison.
>Get out of here, and don't let me catch you doing this again.
>How about we don't turn you in and we'll say you owe me a favor?

>"I've heard enough, I'm taking you in"

You take him to the authorities. You stop by the graveyard to report your success to the undertaker and he rewards you with the promised 50 Talons.

>You now have 138 Talons

The guards put the thief in a cell.

"Thank you for your service adventurer. The bodies will be recovered and placed back in their resting places.
The necromancer will be punished appropriately."

The undertaker adds
"Thanks again Ghoul Busters, this fool was causing me a lot of trouble."

The thief wails behind bars
"Necromancy is a school of peace!"

You caught the corpse thief.
>XP gained 150

Thanks anons. Glad to hear you like it.
It's a shame my quest isn't compatible with some readers' time zones.
My timezone is UTC/GMT +8 hours.
I usually start my quest at 8:00 am Sunday. Which I think is 5:00 pm Saturday on the west coast of USA, and 8:00 pm on the east coast. I try to go for the American time zone since they're the majority of 4chan.

I love this quest and I haven't even taken part in it.
Love the style, the setting and the general flow of it.

Hope you can get more people in on it with the time shift. (unlikely for me since GMTfag, but I still love reading it more than anything)
