Your allies are relayed the plan. the Graggen army moves and takes Inis. Withouth the Duchess, they are able to use the city as cover.

FEATHER forces move through the forest, a line of hover tanks and scout vehicles push through the underbrush, reaching the opposite side. You signal for the attack, a single shot into the air.

The forest erupts with cannonfire as shells of powerful guns punch into the factories. You can see Zerican machinery within getting blown apart. Drak Calvary rush the other side, bearing flags of various duchies under a large one. The factories swarm with activity as men, no, amorphous many-mouthed monsters disguised as men, rush both sides. two pale horrors pull themselves from the murky waters and lurch towards each force. On the docks behind, a few steamships pull away.

You rush in between the attacks, met with weakened resistance you can easily dispatch. On occassion the FEATHER vehicles shell the forces attacking the Graggen troops, granting them some respite. Your tank moves up, nearly reaching the anchor before a pale horror pulls itself from the water before you.

>15
A limb stretches out from the slimy mucus, reaching for your tank, but your motor is faster. Had you been on foot, it would be devouring you now.

Your next shot goes wide, hitting the administration building. An odd flicker of magical light causes the shell to vanish into thin air...
>19
Clark grins as he handles the next shell, slotting it in. You barely have time to ask what he did before you witness it yourself. The shell seems to pull everything it hits into it, a massive chunk is now missing from the creature, but it seems to ignore the damage.

You fire possibly the most devastating barrage in this tank's history. You sum it up to sheer luck, but the shells seem to hit in all the right places and then some. The great beast falls forward.
>7
Try as you might to pass it, you cannot push the tank past the bulk. your party is forced to vacate the tank to proceed to the anchor.

As you arrive, you hear the sound of slow clapping.

"Oh, wonderful, wonderful.. You've brought every threat to my power to one location." Alexander Garvelton smiles, lowering his hands. The nobleman strolls around the anchor.

Alleria's grip on her pistol tightens. Uriel's hands shake slightly.

"However, you've become quite vexing. I was going to send hunters after you, but then you started breaking my anchors. Now that I can't have happening. So I'm afraid now you all must die." He makes a motion, and eldritch magic spills out of him, "You should have taken my requests and completed them. Fools."

"Did Clark not tell you? Oh my. Why, I learned it all from him..." The nobleman smirks.

"You snuck into my home and stole my tome! I would never teach you!" Clark retorts in rage.

"Well, enough talk. It's time to die." Garvelton casts his spell at you.

>20

Your entire party moves out of the way in time. The spell flies into the wall of a factory behind you, causing it to go dark and crumble as if eaten by a hungry maw.

Garvelton clicks his tongue, "Tch, very well. We do this the harder way."

Uriel begins to play a song.

Alleria opens fire with her pistol. Almeda and you do the same. Clark begins his own magical clash while Artoria projects a defensive shield on the party.

Your shots strike true. A shimmer is seen before a magical barrier breaks like glass... and another. Garvelton turns his gaze on you, creating a black gash in the air and leaving Pisteia to duke it out with tentacles.

In the noise, you can hear his voice alone, "Alainn scum. You already ruined my plans in the past... Not again."

He's Zerican. He just spoke in pure Zerican. You have no idea how he survived, but of all the people to do so it's someone like this.

In your shock you scarcely register the black magic, but manage to dodge.

>11
You barely manage to dodge a bolt of dark magic. You feel cold where the edges graze you, like something slimy slipped past you. You absently wonder why Clark uses such horrific magic.
>17
Alleria and Almeda unleash a storm of plasma and energy shots on the shield. It seems to be taking decent damage, but a shimmer shows it's quite thick. Another layer fragments under their assault. Garvelton keeps his focus on you. A glance at Clark and uriel show that both are still preparing, but Clark's got a doozy of a spell.
>7
"ENOUGH!" Garvelton slams the ground and an eruption of black magic blasts you back with your party. You feel cold and sick. Your party isn't faring to well with the exception of Clark.

With everyone pushed back and weakened, Garvelton slowly walks towards you.

"Fools. Even with one anchor..." Clark materializes from the ground behind the anchor, his hand touching it.

Something breaks. The sky seems to fragment and the shards break away to blackness. Some baleful presence you never want to know that you even exist turns its attention to this spot. You feel it.

Garvelton whirls about as Clark pulses with eldritch power. Then Clark strikes. Garvelton's magic felt wrong and cold, but Clark's... Clark's is like your skin is trying to crawl. It's dark and choking, and it wraps around everything.

"I believe you are the fool, Alexander." Clark somehow seems larger than normal. he's still shorter but it seems like he is towering over Garvelton somehow, "You make a series of anchors on the ground? Please. I've hunted them all down. The flow is restored. All the eldritch energies of Inis flow through me!"

You gag. the sky is writhing. The shapeshifters are being pulled into Clark like a black hole. The pale horrors freeze and then fall apart as the aura envelopes the whole complex. You have no idea what Clark has done... no, you have no idea what he is to contain such energies.

Garvelton's barrier holds, "I'll just take it all back from you. I did it once before!"

Clark grins and all the strangeness of the world is pulled in, writhing around Clark, "Come face a demigod, you pathetic imitator." He casts you a glance and nods. You should do something now. Garvelton primes a spell of a color you can't seem to fathom, but can still see.

You decide to distract Garvelton by shooting at him. The rest of your group is still recovering, so you take aim and shoot him in the back. Garvelton looks back at you as his shield breaks another layer.

"This is what I hate about you Alainn bastards. All about glory and honor, and you shoot them in the back, just like you did in the grand war!" Alexander calls up a shadow bolt.

You are in no state to dodge.

Clark's hand closes on Alexander's wrist, "I'll take that... thank you." The orb fizzles and Garvelton makes a face like his arm was melting.

"I'll have my plans reach fruition, just you see!:" He cries, dissolving into black mist. Clark blinks, then has a look of sheer hatred, "He... The coward had another anchor! Damn it all!"

Garvelton has fled, but Inis is freed of his control.

After recovering, you look up to the clear blue sky. Clark says the region isn't totally clear, but he has it covered...

>Clark has left the party to clean up Inis. Once he is done, then he can rejoin.

But there is another conflict brewing. Graggen and FEATHER are arguing who takes Inis. You need to decide who controls the region. Either way, the region will be changed forever.

>Graggen. This will install a new noble who will be able reward you for your efforts. (Increases Duchies nobility standing)

They should really close the Duchy's borders once they take control though. Don't want information or tech slipping out.

You give FEATHER your support in the argument. as the Graggen forces aren't even native to the region, their claims fall flat.

>Alleria and Lily have left the party to manage the FEATHER operations in Inis. She has stated, though, that, should you find a scientist named 'Jeremy' to tell her immediately.

>You may still call in FEATHER artillery support or air supply drops of food and medicine... or transport.

Alleria assures you that FEATHER will be keeping their tech within Inis.

With that matter solved, you are met by a courier from Koroton. Your property needs the turrets deactivated, and the duke requires you to be present.

You decide to go to Koroton to see what the reason the duke needed you for.

You are met in the hall by a woman with a dragon behind her.

"So this is the one who slew the blood dragon?" She regards you with cold disdain.

Interesting, she seems to be someone who ride's dragons. She's brought more fellow dragon riders as well. You wonder what enticed the dragons to allow them to work with humans.

>Faction discovered: dragon rangers. Standing: low

She's very angry, "If this were on the Kistuan continent, I'd have had you tried and charged for killing a rare species!"

"It was a direct threat to the safety of this re4gion and the people, and I had the means to stop it. Maybe if you'd been a bit faster because it's been a problem for a while, but it was expanding its territory at an alarming rate! Perhaps YOU don't care for the people of this region, but I DO, and I consider the lives of hundreds if not thousands of innocent lives FAR more valuable than one EXCEPTIONALLY VIOLENT DRAGON!"

The woman is taken aback by your outburst, "Tch. Alright, Delothian, let me explain something. We DO care about people, but only when the dragon attacks a town do we try to relocate it. But no, since the Empress placed hunting restrictions, you go flying all over the world capping dragons with your guns. We were going as fast as we can, but whjat do you think is faster, hrm? Answering a bounty at a hunter hall or getting permission from the king to actually fly over the country without getting shot down by magic?! Let me give you a hint, YOU GET PAID FOR ONE OF THEM." She retorts, "Koroton could have EASILY held the survivors AND fended off the dragon until we arrived which was just a mere day and a half after you blew it apart."

She crosses her arms, "I know you Delothians like immediate results But there are only about a hundred blood dragons left in the world. And a majority of them are infants."

Artoria tilts her head, "Wouldn't the propagation of Blood Dragons lead to a larger threat to human life?"

"Gods preserve us, why are people so ignorant?! Dragon Rangers regulate dragons! That's our job, alright?"

Pisteia lets out a small laugh, "Oh? I thought you just defended the lizards above all else."

The woman points at Pisteia, "Disrespectful mercenary, do you know who I am?"

"Yeah. You're a lizard rider. You sleep with dragons."

"I AM KAVERA DARINCOURT!" The woman corrects.

"Really? Damn." Pisteia turns to the group, "Watch out everyone, it's THE Kavera Darincourt, famed leader of the dragon rangers. She might register a formal complaint or something with the king." The mercenary laughs.

"I just might!" Kavera warns.

"Oh, sweet child, I'm Pisteia Var. You know..." Pisteia drops her hand on the shoulder of the dragon ranger, who pales.

"Oh... the..." Kavera shakes.

"Yeah. So I mean, you COULD complain, but would they do anything if we say 'Pisteia Var slew the blood dragon with her friends?' I don't think so."

Kavera's lip trembles, "B-but the species is... I can't just... The dragon..."

"Dragon's dead, girl." Pisteia shrugs.

"S-still! We demand compensation for the loss of the blood dragon!" Kavera replies, gathering up what confidence she has left.

"I suppose you'll just have to accept nothing then. Because we aren't paying." You reply.

Kavera takes in a sharp breath, about to say something, but a glance to the (rather smug) Pisteia kills the words before they leave her lips.

"I think it'd be best if you left, Kavera. This isn't Kistua, this is Elris. And we both know that Elris is Archivum territory, not Dragon Ranger." Pisteia smiles, although it's a bit predatory in your eyes, "Last I heard, Archivum and Dragon Rangers aren't exactly buddies."

Kavera takes a step back, "If it wasn't for you and Salarcul..."

"If it wasn't for me and salarcul you think you could extort these guys? They just took on a pale horror in Inis. And I watched. Yeah, think about that."

Kavera casts you a disbelieving glance, then back to Pisteia, then to you with her eyes wider. "B-but how? Only Onezer managed to do that... But for two delothians... even with a bard and a-" She pauses, staring at Artoria. A smile of hysteria appears, "A-a daughter?! An Imperial daughter?!" She points at Artoria, "What are you doing here?! I-is the empress lifting the restrictions?!" She scrambles back, clambering onto her dragon.

"Ethira, HURRY! We have to get to Captain Cheshiram!" The dragon nods and bolts into the sky, leaving you behind. The other dragon riders take off after her in a rush.

Pisteia stares up in the sky, "Captain Cheshiram? But he's Deloth's best Dragon Hunter... Why would she report to him of all people?"

"What was all that talk just now, Pisteia?"

Your knight companion freezes and looks back, "W-well I have a bit of a history. I'm a bit... important where I come from, and Salarcul is a pretty impressive country..."

Uriel offers some information, "You have the same last name as the Salarcul royal family. If I recall, then wouldn't that make you part of the family? From the looks of it, you are one of the younger dau-"

"Shush! Nobody needs to know that!" Pisteia scrambles to silence Uriel, "D-don't mind him, I am just a regular mercenary with a very good reputation."

"She's the 3rd princess of Salarcul." Uriel adds while she's turned away. Pisteia goes red in embarrassment.

"He's mistaken!" Pisteia adds hurriedly.

Uriel is probably right. Her being a princess means she wields considerable diplomatic power. No wonder Kavera was afraid. Salarcul must have quite an impact to do that.

You look back to Artoria, "Not sure what an Imperial Daughter is..."

Uriel shrugs, "I heard they were some sort of elite magicians Deloth had... not even Delothians have seen them much, but I heard at the height of dragon hunting, the airship fleet had one for each flight. That's just rumor though. It's all very secretive." he shrugs, "Probably mistaking Artoria for one saved us from too much trouble."

"Oh! OH this isx the symbol of Inis! We were driven out of there, but to have a symbol of favor to give to us... good work! With this, we can negate the duchess's acts against us in Korlanis! We'll have to call the city for your reward, but don't worry, we will fly it out to you!"

"What do you know about... fae?" You ask.

"Fae? Like the mythical creatures? They don't exist. Why?"

"I met one. You don't seem to recognize me, but I helped Nissa before. It did something to me."

Uriel shakes his head, "Fae are fiction, ace. What we met isn't from this world. It's like a demon." You know what demons are. That Uriel knows is a bit alarming. You hope it's uncommon.

"Any news?"

The archivum magicians look at each other, "Well, there's something going on in the mountains. The skyfortress started acting up. One of our major digsites has a rock dragon harassing it. We think it might be rangers keeping us from the ruins."

The man speaks up, "The iron colossus in the north is currently far from any towns, so that's good news. The Otharthur desert expedition recently found some fortifications in the sand... And I think people are preparing for the summer harvest festival in the south."

The woman nods, "Oh! And the Empress of Deloth declared the summer offensive against Nelola, so their airship fleets are at it again. I also heard talk that king Sarles de Agreus in Muir Nin decided to back Nelola this time."

"I'm sorry? Iron colossus?" Your question causes Pisteia to get excited.

"It's only the biggest metal beast around, as tall as a mountain! A great metal man that strides across the landscape. Its body is a metal city, and its legs towers. It's my life dream to kill it."

"This sounds like an Ollamic Mobile Warbase." Artoria adds, "I am surprised it has been running for so long."

"Eh, the colossus is best avoided, if you can help it. it's known to snatch airships out of the sky and crush them. It's the main reason the northern wastes exist." The archivum mage laughs nervously, clearly frightened that Pisteia is all about killing it.

As you can't explore north, you decide to head south.

Dise duchy is... sprawling farmland. the capital of Disetown lacks any sort of walls, apparently the danger in the south is minimal. Artoria provides a map.

As you drive down, you see lots of farmers at work and signs for the upcoming harvest festival in Disetown.

You decide to head there as it is straight ahead.
On arriving, you see a variety of decorations around the town, and decorated stalls being set up. There are many people here, some look foreign to the region, and city has 4 airship towers! Each filled with a different flying vessel.

"Excuse me, what's happening here?" You ask the nearest vendor. They give you a brief look over.

"Tch, Delothians. This is the harvest festival. We're setting up so once the harvest is done in a few days, we can celebrate. It's a big event, celebrating the gifts of Vor'ma."

You freeze. Vor'ma?! "You said Vor'ma, yes?"

"Yeah? Most of Esmor is in the church of Vor'ma." The man returns to setting up his stall. You are in disbelief.

Vor'ma the Stressed is the patron god of Alainn. You might not be a follower of the religion, but the impact it had on Alainn society was huge. You knew exactly how Vor'ma's worshippers celebrated: They got smashed with liquor. When you look at the preparations, you can see a lot of Alainn-based decorations. Not like the originals, but imitations without reference for sure.

You go around to each stall, asking about the madman. You hear a myriad of stories... The madman never ages. The madman creates anomalies. The madman destroys anomalies. The madman once turned a dragon into a tree with a pistol. The madman turned a bandit into a fish. The madman is from the past. The madman is from the future. The madman has a daughter. The madman's daughter is invincible. The madman once froze a river. The madman is a brilliant magician. The madman has no magical powers.

You can't make sense of it, but you do learn one thing: The flying specter appears shortly before the madman does. The madman will change an aspect of something and either linger and do more, or leave in disappointment.

The flying machine appears to have ties to the madman.

You ask what you can do to help. Most of the stall owners point to various fields they are affiliated with and say that help with the harvest is needed at all times. To the west is breweries. To the north is grains, and to the south are animals. There's also an orchard to the north. You will only be able to assist with one harvest at this time.

You head to the Archivum building, but instead find a tiny little structure. A brown-robed man informs you that this is only an administration office. You'd need to go to the agriculture center in the west for Archivum services.

The hunter's hall is closed here, due to the harvest.

You drive to the agriculture center. It's a massive facility, with a nice field behind it of experimental crops. You see some of the blue-robed mages as well as some younger, grey-robed children out there in groups, working on the plants.

On entering you are met by a blue-robed woman. Unlike Nissa's gold interior on her robes, hers is green.

"Welcome! Welcome! We are mid-harvest, so we have some samples of our crop projects available. I'm glad to see visitors! Are you hunters?"

She clasps her hands and gives a friendly smile, "It's rare to see hunters interested in agriculture, but you are welcome anytime. Would you like some tea?"

There are tables set out for eating. Some Archivum mages with different interior colors are having some delicious-looking meals.

You take a cup of tea. "It's one of our latest experiments. it's meant to produce wakefulness and energy! Tell us how you find the flavor."

You take a seat and take a drink. It's a bit on the spicier side, but it's also very fruity. The flavors are alien, but good. You inform the magician of the tea, and she seems pleased.

"Do you have any information on the madman?"

"Oh! Well, about forty years ago someone omatching that description with a daughter came around here. A few of the things they planted were placed in the soil, which is why we built our research center here. I don't know where he went, but some of the plant materials he left are in that tea." It looks like the madman visited the region once, but only this area. Were they trying to set up something here?

"What's happening in the region?" You decide to see if you can offer any help, preferably with your tank.

"Well, normally there's some bandit attacks near Brighthill and Keth, but since the harvest festival is near, the king has the military stationed on the roads by the lost hope forest, so right now the only major concern is getting the crops harvested."

She laughs, "I know it might not seem all that exciting to hunters, but this festival is very important to the heartlands, and the Brightsprings are the best place for it. You can't find better water for brewing. We've done a bit ourselves. Our stall will be right by our offices in the celebration. I highly recommend you come and try it. We're using a revolutionary new arcane injection brewing style."

Almeda quietly nods. You recall she was a bit more religious than you, so she probably partook in brewing back home during the holidays.

You pick the blue liquid. The rest of your party pick the ones that they were interested in and try them. Artoria looks really pleased, which is strange considering her often emotionless state. Pisteia looks like she wishes there was more... And Uriel is having a giggling fit.

The magician brings out another, and you and Almeda drink together.

"I picked the blue because it reminded me of the banners back home. Why'd you pick it?" Almeda takes a sip. You do the same. The drink is... cool and refreshing at first, but a moment after you feel a kick of alcohol so sharp it's like an electric shock. Your body feels warm and a bit tingly. It's pretty good, overall.

"Well, it looked interesting..."

Almeda gives you a smug grin, "Don't tell me you picked that one because I had my eyes on it..."

"Hrm. Maybe." Almeda looks down at her cup and reddens a little at your response. She'd do the same thing when you picked the same drink back home when you were younger. You're reminded of the many times you got hot drinks in the snowy streets on the way back from the academy.

The drink is pretty strong, but not strong enough to make you drunk off one cup. You are getting a bit of a buzz though.

Pisteia is laughing about how much of a lightweight Uriel is.

The magician gathers responses from everyone about how each drink was. Artoria had the strongest drink, but you and Almeda had the next strongest.

Uriel really is a lightweight though. You are informed the festivities will be in a few days.

>Your standing with the Archivum is now very high.

The Archivum's tasks are nothing beneath you, and you manage to get plenty of free food in the meantime. The grey-robed youths are actually students from the Archivum headquarters, learning agriculture to improve farming practices. You get on overall good terms with most of them.

Pisteia takes the opportunity to practice sparring with the mages. Uriel flirts with a lot of people, but someone keeps leaving threats to each person who reciprocates.

You have a relaxing break before the festival.
A message from Inis fro you comes from Alleria, telling you that FEATHER has been making a lot of progress in the region.

Finally the festival comes. It is a bright and cheerful affair with many different activities and games. for a good while your group sticks together, but soon they want to split up after a general tour. Artoria opts to stay at the Archivum stall and talk with them about magic systems

You go with Almeda and begin visiting each of the stalls with drinks. Eventually, you end up in front of the Temple of Vor'ma. The statue of Vor'ma looks almost the same as it did back home. As usual, the priests are handing out great big tankards filled to the brim with alcohol. You both get one.

The night is filled with laughter as you stand on the shores of the brightsprings. Crystals below the water's surface glow brightly. You both sit on the soft grass. Above, the stars glimmer.

"Ah, remember when we'd go out to watch the rockets at night? We'd have our hot cider while we watched." You remember it clearly. Almeda looks back to you, "I'm glad you wanted to spend the festival with me."

You lean back, "It's good fortune that we were deployed next to each other, wasn't it? And awoken at the same time too."

Almeda looks back over the waters, "it... it wasn't." You aren't sure you heard right, or if it's just all the drinks you had. Your vision is a bit wobbly, "I- I asked the Grand General if I could be on the same scouting continent and timeframe as you. I mean, there are other scouts, but I was able to get a deployment close to yours." She admits, "I mean... I didn't want to be left behind."

Fireworks explode in the air above the water, created by magic, images soar in the night sky.

"Ah, it's so beautiful... but I still miss the city lights back home, Cathal. Maybe we can see them together in the future." She smiles back at you, "Thanks for sharing the festival with me."

>you are in extremely good standing with Almeda.
>You obtained two of Vor'Ma's tankards as mementos, one owned by you, the other by Almeda. They are twins from the same set, which is often claimed as a sign of a strong bond between those who own them.

You watch the fireworks together. Two Alainn scouts, far from home. Almeda leans against you, and when you look, you find she's fast asleep.

The morning sun awakens you. Your head is remarkably clear. The festival will continue a few days, but the first day is the true celebration. You don't think you can take more of the festival, otherwise you'll be worn out (and have your liver destroyed.)
