Funtron is a Lego board game where you take command of a motley crew of space adventurers and explore an abandoned outpost on an alien planet.

You, the reader, post commands for the characters. In turn, I will execute your commands and post images and descriptions of what happens.

Previous threads are archived here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Funtron%20Space%20Adventure

It's been a while, so I'll begin with a recap of last thread:

Our heroes had entered into the Research Wing in search of the elusive radial charge incapacitator. There they found a bloodstained research laboratory covered in vines.

They also discovered a mostly-converted plant-human hybrid. This one was mercifully unresponsive, but if there were two plantmen, a third seemed likely.

Their next stop was the large room on the southern end of the research wing, through which they hoped to access the security terminal that controls the robots. However, a legion of said robots was waiting there for them, under the command of what appeared to be the chief security drone. Our heroes promptly fled.

They took shelter in a room containing a large stasis tank. Inside the tank were two more partially converted plantmen, also unresponsive. This gave our heroes a plan...

You are in Room #35. Each member of the party has 2 HP; you have 2 doses of medicine. Joy is carrying her rifle, the lightsaber, and the strange purple bottle. Whitworth is carrying two blasters. Penkala is carrying her flamethrower and the orange lever thing. Teddy is stationed in r14.

I'll pick up momentarily with the last set of orders from Round 4.

For your plan to work, you'll need a way to get the plantmen out of the tank. You check the terminal, but it only seems to monitor their deteriorating health, with no option to open the tank. The glass is also too hard to shatter, and seems lightsaber-resistant. However, you have another tool on hand. Penkala takes the orange lever thingy and begins prying at the panes of glass. To your surprise, the bricks begin to separate from each other.

>>1751015
Is it possible for Penkala and Whitworth to take the robot's head off and get it working again? It would be very helpful to have a guide that knows more about this place than we do.

If we can't easily pop it off and it's too heavy to take with, let's double back to #28.

We resume in r33 with our heroes having just taken command of the robot army using the security terminal in r32.

Whitworth has 2 HP; Joy and Penkala each have 1 HP. You have 2 doses of medicine.

Joy is equipped with two lightsabers, two rifles, and a purple bottle of something. Penkala is equipped with her flamethrower and a brick separator. Whitworth is equipped with two blasters. In addition, you have three robot disguises.

Your force of robots consists of the robot commander, a laser cannon bot, an armored bot, and two drones.

Current loose ends:
— The rebooted robot head
— Teddy's report that the bots sent to r36 have not returned
— The locked door into r29
— The search for the second landing pad and the radial charge incapacitator
— The Capsula Cinerea's state of dismantlement

With all this in mind, what will you do?

You scour r33 for loot, but aside from your new mechanical followers, you find only a pair of terminals. Whitworth logs into one while Penkala handles the other. Meanwhile, Joy starts eying some of the robots' gear.

Whitworth's terminal holds an inventory of the smaller security robots at Carpos Station. It reports nine remaining active units, and one unit in set-up mode. Every other security drone has been taken offline somehow. Whoops.

Penkala's terminal displays an inventory of the larger assets at Carpos Station. The Spider is offline, of course, and the power armor is listed as heavily damaged. Two other assets, "01" and "02", and still online. Additionally, a working shuttle named the Pars Stercoris is docked somewhere at Carpos Station.

What will you do?
>>
>>1775243

>>

The terminal lists the location of 01 and 02 as the room "Twins" in the research wing. The Pars Stercoris is in "Hanger 01". Not terribly helpful, as those rooms could could be either r29, r30, or r31. However, any attempt to probe into the contents of r29 is met with stubborn resistance from the security systems. Every reference to the room has been redacted, except for one detail: the door to r29 can be unlocked from the security terminal using the executive keycard.

You then leave your troop of robots to guard the security terminal while you go to investigate r30. You arrive at the door to the room without any issue.

A blue-suited researcher stands flanked by what you can only assume are units 01 and 02. There's something off about the researcher, though—for starters, the fact that he's just a skeleton in a suit, like the other three corpses you've found.

Unlike the other three, however, this one is unusually lively for a dead person. Slowly, it turns its head to face you. The eyes of the twin robots flash red.

The laser mech, which you arbitrarily decide is unit 01, looks ready to blast down your door. Meanwhile, unit 02 (the sword and shield one) is flanking you in r34, together with the reanimated researcher. Teddy has his troop of bots up in r14 along with the other researcher, and your squad of bots in r33 is ready to follow your commands.

Welcome! It's great to have new players. The overarching goal of this game is to escape from Carpos Station. Originally, this meant finding a replacement radial flux incapacitator (suspected to be in r31) to repair the team's crashed spaceship, but that spaceship has since taken some serious damage, so that plan may change.

Regarding the battle, I think you can still win. The players here have triumphed over long odds before with improvisational tactics. The first two threads in the archive have good examples, namely the other two major "boss fights" against the spider and the power armor.

Most of the security bots can't self-detonate, since they have no explosives, but the laser cannon bot and the electric bot have less stable power sources. Those are two of your strongest bots, though.

Meanwhile, Teddy's focus is on Unit 01. He takes aim down the hallway and begins charging a shot.

With one clean slice, the robot commander severs Unit 01's cannon arm. The enemy mech is now severely damaged, though it still has two smaller cannons remaining.

Elsewhere, Unit 02 finishes cutting through the door. The bots in r33 unleash a barrage of lasers at it, but between 02's shield and lightsaber, it handily blocks all the incoming fire. It begins to lumber forward into r33.

Also at this time, you receive an urgent call from Teddy. He says he's got a plantman crawling on his suit and he can't shake it off. It's got a knife too, and it looks frighteningly close to doing some Jack the Seam Ripper action.

Quite the situation you've got on your hands. Whitworth digs through the security terminal programs for anything that could prove useful. He stumbles across the unlock button for something that appears to have been redacted, the live camera feeds for all of the research wing except r29, and an Internet Space Explorer window opened to Space Google. He tears up a little at the sight of his dear, old friend.

You take a gander at the security camera footage to get a clearer picture of what's going on before making any decisions. It looks bad now, but it could always get worse.

What will you do?

————————

We're on page 10, so I think this will have to be continued in Round 6. I'll try to have that up before the weekend, but I'll take orders in the meantime. Thanks again for playing!

Can what's her name give the bots the lightsabers? Then they could do more damage to 01 and 02.

As I recall, this head on Teddy's shoulder was a flying drone ore something. Make it go face to "face" with plantman, while trying to bash it with the shield. If fails, initiate mech's selfdestruct (this thing should have selfdestruct function, right?) and run Teddy, run. Plantman must not get the powerarmor, but staying alive is a priority.

this grey tank-like thing looks like it might exlode on hit, so heavy laser bot, take cover behind black generator-like thing, which looks maybe even more dangerous, but at least it's further from Unit 02 and have a direct aim for the left door. Other bots, initiate full-on attack on Unit 01.
And, Joy, shut the door for now at least, and probably untill Unit 01 is destroyed or have no more cannons.

>Teddy: shoot at unit 01 again.
>Robot commander: run over to Teddy (dodging the shot) and eliminate the plantman
>Electrobot: try to stun Unit 02
>Rest of the bots: attack Unit 02's legs. It's a melee fighter, so limiting its mobility will go a long way.
