The Raiders – Part 26

You open your eyes in the dark, and feel the weight of soft, cool arms about your shoulders and neck from behind. “I've missed you,” she murmurs in your ear, the voice half song, half catlike purr, and heavy with sensual desire. You lean your head back and sigh softly remembering one of the beautiful things about the material worlds.

“It is a lovely thing to hear your voice again, even if it is a dream as opposed to a hallucination.” Leaning your head back you are gratified by her cool, soft lips along your cheek, her hands sliding down to caress the upper slopes of your breasts, your nipples aching almost instantly. Her breasts are soft and cool along your back, and you reach behind you, sliding your hands along her hips, the silk she is wearing not covering them at all. “It feels more real.”

Her soft chuckle is thick, rich with promise. “This is real. Far more real than most would think.” She presses up, rising onto her toes and tilts her head. You oblige and kiss her deeply and slowly, humming sweetly into her mouth as she makes a low, soft moan.

Wearing little but jewels and glass yourself makes the sensation of turning around in her arms all the better as you gently take the silks and pulls them away to expose her smooth, dark form. Not so dark as drow, nor the rich chocolate of brown humans, but the smooth, opaline darkness of polished onyx shot through with living fire, a cross between opal and hematite, but soft, and so very well formed. Her nails and teeth are silver, her spurs gold and gleaming. You kiss her again, embracing the voluptuous beauty of you True Silver Sword eagerly. Her eyes are obsidian pools of darkness, deep and so very easy to get lost in.

Something hard and brittle snaps beneath your bare feet, and a painful jab elicits a sharp bark of pain from you. “....it's not like you to enjoy causing me pain, Siobhan – not indirectly, anyways.” Your gentle accusation causes her to look down at your bleeding ankle, sapphire blood dripping slowly onto the white flooring.

“Not my doing....I thought you were having morbid thoughts, my love.” She steps back, as do you, and the light slowly increases around you. The broken flooring is revealed – slate and curves of bleached whiteness; you snapped one of the slats, which is what stabbed you; the hollowness of it looks familiar....the light slowly increases and reveals the dry, dusty bones that litter the floor. Only bones; nothing beneath but more bones. “....Akko? What is this?” Her voice is soft, confused, and perhaps a touch afraid.

Taking a quick step forward you take Siobhan into your arms as the light slowly rises, revealing more and more bone, hundreds, thousands upon thousands, making up the walls, vaulted ceilings, the alcoves and arches of what can only be called an ossuary. The high up they go the more polished and stronger they look, burnished to a gleaming shine, lacquered or enameled into place. A cold white flame hovers above you, the source of 'light' you conjured in this dream.

So, you finally dream, and so open your mind to mine, comes the dry, breathless whisper in your head. Communicative telepathy, your reasoning mind determines, not an invasive thought. Your creative mind is screaming in terror as you look at the form of an ancient githyanki, paper thin tissue covering what little flesh remains, gaping openings into her chest and abdominal cavity showing unmoving organs preserved with magic and potion and lacquer, beautiful and appealing. Eyes dark and green, glassy with death, gaze upon you with unreadable emotion. Her rich velvet robes and cloak are tattered and shadowy, unreal and yet possessing some strange potency even here.

Are we well met, Gish Akatmosoko, companion to the dragon Yzidriava, beloved of the True Silver Sword Siobhan D'Arcane, Lover of Murderess Tzanziarette, Glassmage, Master Smith, called Paragon of Githyanki? Her dry, whispery thoughts slip deep into your mind, touching, probing, suggesting. The lightly coy manner of the last four words promise very bad, bad things in your immediate future if the answer is incorrect. Or are we not?

Vlaakith!

[X] Well, of course you are well met; if you had wished to contact me sooner, you could have asked....
[X] Calmly dissect the situation – you can cope with this.

It isn't easy thinking clearly while facing one of the most terrifying being that your entire race knows of. You're pretty sure you'd rather be up against the Astral Dragon that lives among the Dead Gods. Maybe the living Sphere of Annihilation that hangs out there. But no, you're here and Siobhan is trapped with you in this particular nightmare....nightmare. Of course it would be a literal Nightmare, rather than a naturally occurring one. And not typical one....you narrow your eyes and erect the strongest, most potent barrier against mental power that you can create. It won't stop the Nightmare but it will prevent Vlaakith – or her dream emissary – from doing anything (more) nasty to your head.

That you include Siobhan in the Tower of Iron Will is not coincidental.

While the Tower of Iron Will protects anyone within from mental assault and powers, it doesn't prevent yours from being used on them. Not that you're willign to try any such thing; Vlaakith, whatever else she may be, is quite dead. You don't even know if spells you try and use would work in this dream-construct. On the other hand, if she tries to use spells, that means it is no mere spell....it is a spell powered by the Elder One's great power, and that means your hunch would be correct, that Vlaakith has the power of the Elders to call upon as well.

You stand up tall, and kiss Siobhan on the cheek softly, gently disentangling yourself from her. She is still terrified, but your calm helps her recover her own. Also, it seems that the terror and fear she was feeling might have been imposed upon her. Stepping forward you take a knee before the undead monstrosity before you, who watches you with those glazed eyes of emerald green. Vlaakith places a hand over her exposed, unbeating heart and watches as you lower your head.

“Your Imperious Majesty, My Lady Vlaakith, Successor of Gith and Watch-Warden over all who Follow Her Ways. I am humbled and gratified to be granted this audience, and apologize for my inattention to your desires. Please accept my apology and grant me the opportunity to make amends.”

She sits slowly, upon a siege made of utter darkness, a throne of infinite empty blackness. A delicate, parchment-skinned hand rises, her good hand, the other still obscured by her cloak. Her thoughts are less intrusive, less Probing and you suspect that the Tower of Iron Will is doing its duty. You only hope it lasts long enough.
>>
The opportunity is granted, Akatmosoko. You have learned a secret, and have taken for your own a weapon of great power and wondrous force. I am curious as to why you have done this without the permission you should have sought before hand. Should I perhaps send an army, to recover that which is not yours to possess? You refrain from looking up at her, your sincerity and charm apparently far more effective than you could have even guessed. Please explain yourself, Gish Akatmosoko, Master Smith.

Well, that's one feral out of a very shredded and torn bag. Siobhan lays a delicately trembling hand on your shoulder, at your left side. You feel her strength surround you, the power and knowledge she grants you rising to the fore once again, even in a dream-sending made by a powerful witch-queen.

[X] It was a surprise to learn it could be done, your Majesty, and I fear that the damage done cannot be undone without my death, and her death.

Protected from any truth sensing or mental probes as you are, you are still worried about giving anything away simple by body language and speech. Vlaakith is an ancient thing, old enough to remember The Exodus at the very least. But she has also been isolated from the githyanki for millennia, and that may give you some kind of edge. You hope.

“There is little enough to explain, your Majesty.” Siobhan tenses next to you, but you ignore her reaction, remaining calm and unconcerned. “I delve into magic and the art of it far deeper than even the spellcasters do. The psychics and their disciplines are equally unconcerned about the artistry of the powers and skills they use. It was inevitable that my crafts would take me down these paths, my Leader Supreme Above All Others. How could I explain to a knight, who serves you with all his thought and soul, or a Master Smith, who obeys your will as no other, that I learned this secret on my own, with no teacher other than the Blade Herself Siobhan?”

Vlaakith studies you, her face as impassive and uncaring as the bone walls that surround you. And if I send those knights who serve me to retrieve you and your True Silver Sword, Gish Akatmosoko? What then would you dare? Her mental whisper is soft, and the threat is carries is unmistakable. Despite that you persevere in the mixture of truth and half truths you a re crafting desperately.

“I would return with them, your Majesty. But I fear it is far too late.”

Yes? There, a glimmer of curiosity, a hint that this is a test.

You look up at her beautiful, damaged face and body, shadow and spell all that exists in some places; her left hand is largely a thing of force and will, rather than flesh and bone. Yet you look her in the eye. “What I learned, I learned by accident, but I set to it with a will, your Majesty. Siobhan D'Arcane and I are of one body, one mind, one soul. We are a thing together that is apart from all others. To attempt to separate us will be the death of us both, even more so than Vermithrax' concern for Yzidriava.”
>>
Will you die for your beloved blade, Gish Akatmosoko? Will you allow her to be unmade as you are unmade, rather than risk her to fall into enemy tentacles? Her envisionment of the enemy is so vile, so hateful, so filled with raw, unadulterated loathing it nearly makes you physically sick. You very nearly wake up, which would be a very bad idea at this moment.

It's a test, Siobhan's hand clenches lightly on your shoulder, her stoic expression belying the fear she feels, wholly her own now. What can she possibly want from us, Akko?

I'm glad I woke up early enough to chat a little with her majesty, at least.

As for the vote, pretending submission might be the least dangerous, if it wasn't such a blatant lie. Somehow I doubt Githyanki for the most part would willingly cower as such, even were they not Akko, though considering some we've met that might be an overestimation. Certainly on Akko's part it would be easy to see through. As for threatening her, while I can imagine managing to scare her, I can't imagine doing it so badly that it wouldn't merely lead to a manhunt. Well, it could still be the right call in theory, but too risky for me.

>>1727089
I mean, if you notice the "will not die gracefully" bit means that even at her most submissive, Akko will still endeavor to kill anyone Vlaakith sends against her.

I guess I just felt the one I chose was most important because it asserts that, even if we can see beyond Githyanki society and all the ways Vlaakith herself has shaped and engineered us to accomplish her goals... we're not really against that at all for the most part? Like currently at least, Akko seems kind of satisfied in the place she fits in right now, even if she can understand that place in the grand scheme of things? I don't know, I'm not sure if I'm making sense or if I'm misreading things.
>>
>>1727095
Her ascension to level 16 proved that Vlaakith's designs are flawed. Akko has been content in the shadows, but that can't last. To submit is to wither.
>>
>>1727095
I don't really disagree in general, I'm not sure about this specific case however. It's been frequently noted by XS that Akko is closer to Siobhan than normal, and I can't imagine Vlaakith has missed that (certainly the scene shown to her at the start would go some way to validate suspicions). On the topic of separating Akko from Siobhan, I do not feel tip-toeing around that will help us. I wouldn't be surprised if owning up to the close bonds between the two was the test she decided on. Of course, allowing for the possibility that we give her unnecessary information if this is way off base too, but I feel like I'm getting good odds on this.

This is a bit worrying though, will her Majesty be able to snoop on Akko whenever she goes to sleep on this raid? What a voyeur.
>>
>>1727097
Eh... I guess I could see that yeah, I don't really have a problem with her knowing how much we care about Siobhan, I was mostly kind of hesistant that she might view it as being boastful or arrogant and those not being things she likes in this context. I don't really have a problem with it though, because I really have no idea what she wants.

[XX] I am githyanki, your Majesty. I will not die until I die in battle against the enemy, even if the inquisitors say otherwise.
[X] No. I would lay waste to all that is material, all that is astral, all thought and flesh and bodies before I allow her to be taken from me.
[x] Write in? If your Majesty thinks losing a mere Silver Sword would be worth mobilizing an army for....

You close your eyes, which really doesn't seem to do all that much as far as closing out the sights around you. You can still 'see' Vlaakith, and her shattered rainbow aura, so similar to your own. The Rune of the Inscrutable One protects you, even in dreams, so you are still fairly certain she does not know your real secret. Siobhan's worry is sweet, and makes you feel beloved and warm. When you open your eyes you fix Vlaakith with a gaze that would probably get you executed if you performed such an act in person.

“Send the inquisitors for me and I will go with them. Torture and bind me, and I will scream my secrets and cry out for succor. Pit me against the enemy and I will die in a blaze of glory.” You you stand, slowly, and slide one arm about Siobhan's waist, clutching her hip and pulling her close.

Siobhan embraces you naturally and leans into you, her eyes closed, her expression anguished from the words you speak. “Attempt to part my from my True and Only Silver Sword, and I will lay waste to all that lies before me. I will burn the Astral Fundament to wisps of stray thought; the material worlds will become barren wastelands of ash and dust; the Firmament of the Gods and the Devils will become a wasteland of bloodless corpses and a ruin of glowing blood.” Siobhan stiffens, then clutches tight, her eyes closed and her body trembling against yours.

“I am Gith Yaan Keigh, Follower of the Ways of Gith, and I will lay waste to all who stand before me as no army can if any and all try and divest me of She who is rightfully My Own.” Vlaakith merely looks at you, her green, dead eyes watching, observing....

Done. She rises and points at you. You steel yourself, but she only speaks inside your head, the whispery voice of ageless dead in your mind. Gish Akatmosoko, recognized Master Smith, given to you is Siobhan D'Arcane, True Silver Sword, to bear against all and any whom stand against the githyanki and our Cause. In good faith and with high hopes are you commanded to take this war to those who oppose us, to claim what we need for our Cause, and to grant to those whom you see fit Silver Swords of your devising and skill, in My Name, in the Name of Gyr, and by the Will of Gith. This is My Will, as Ruler and Guide of all Gith Yaan Keigh.

You blink at the undead specter in your dreams. “And the knights...?”

The knight will obey my will, or suffer for their temerity. They will be informed, near and far. She steps forward and that dead gaze transfixes you, despite the Tower of Iron Will, though it has mere seconds remaining to it. Do not fail me, Gish Akatmosoko.

Huh, so does that mean that becoming a Supreme Leader is now negotiable or is it probably still a good idea? Also does "and to grant to those whom you see fit Silver Swords of your devising and skill" tacitly include people who already have SIlver Swords yet don't match our standards of devising and skill, or are we just gonna pretend it does?

Wow, lucky! Guess that's what we get for a nat 20, hopefully our choices weren't too bad either. Not having to roll for smooching Vlaakith is also a good sign!

>>1727127
I think we'll have to be careful in assuming Akko can afford to not strike out on her own, however nice Her Majesty is being here. Because she is - as far as Akko knows - not aware of the most dangerous circumstances surrounding Akko. At least she's not being unreasonable for now.
>>
So, any other members of our cadre who could use a brand spanking new silver sword now that we're authorized to distribute them like candy?
>>
>>1727130
Though what she is doing is pretty much saying "I know who you are and I'm paying attention to you now, and I can interrupt your dreams whenever I want." Like I don't know, would trying to block her be considered rude/treasonous as it implies we're dreaming things that are up to no good, or would it be considered good sense because it's stopping a vector of attack that could potentially be exploited by the Enemy?
>>
>>1727133
Can Tzanzi wield one effectively? If so, why hasn't she been issued one?

Also, Aeuna is probably close but not quite there yet?

Generally I feel like we should be responsible with distributing them both because we're probably being watched and it takes a good amount of time, resources, and effort to make a Silver Sword.
>>
>>1727134
I imagine the latter, certainly she didn't seem even slightly fazed by the Tower of Iron Will and all.
It's possible she knows more than we'd want her to, but I don't think we can afford to do anything but assume she doesn't and be as careful as possible. At least for now.

>>1727137
I'm not sure whether Tzanzi actually wants one. Aeuna is definitely a potential recipient to consider.
>>
>>1727127
>>1727133
Akko is effectively a Supreme Leader; she could rightfully challenge Dunzamn for Supreme Leadership if she thinks he's doing a bad enough job (this is NOT her current plan in the slightest) or strike out on her own and build a Lair if she sees fit (also not her current plan).

She can make and grant Silver Swords, but doing so is a very time consuming process, and requires materials she doesn't actually currently have stockpiled in any case. A 'basic' silver sword will take about 28 weeks minimum to build if she's not being creative about it. She can also take Silver Swords from the vaults and grant them to worthy, but she has to justify that to the smiths/knights. Those she makes herself she needs no justification for.
>>
>>1727137
>>1727138
Tzanzi cannot bond with one. she lacks certain parts of her brain that are required for it. Auena qualifies, but has chosen not to take one, as is her right.

the tower of Iron Will is a passive effect - it grants an effective Spell Resistance to mental powers (unfortunately, the Nightmare was already active). It did, however, free Siobhan from the fear effect Akko made her save against.
>>
>>1727139
I was more wondering if tinkiering with someone's already-issued Silver Sword is now allowed, or if that's not something any Silver Smiths should do even with permission from the wielder?
>>
>>1727139
Where materials are concerned, I assume Akko will have to get them on her own rather thanbeing able to commandeer any from the smiths?

And I'm not sure whether we need to block her from our dreams, if Akko has decent enough control over them. Certainly Akko's biggest secrets stayed unrevealed today, it seemed like. Or if they didn't, well, it's a bit too late to worry about it anyway!
>>
>>1727139
Also, the important takeaway is that Akko is now known to be a big enough deal to justify Yzia remaining her partner even with Yzia's Mythic powers, right?
>>
>>1727141
>Auena qualifies, but has chosen not to take one, as is her right.
Huh, that's interesting. While I don't really feel like she needs persuading if she doesn't want to, I'm still curious as to her reasoning so I'll make a note of it.
>>
>>1727145
I hope so

Yzia best dragon

>>1727141
Pity about Tzanzi, at least she has Siobhan, interesting that whatever she's missing to let her capital B bond with a sword doesn't impact literally bonding with Akko's
>>
>>1727149
Maybe the part of Tzanzi's brain that's missing is the part that would allow her to wield a Silver Sword and not be wielded by it?
>>
>>1727153
Hmmm that's a possibility given what we know of her and her interactions with Siobhan

[XX] Smile, truly smile, and let her see what you think of her command with just that.
[X] Kiss your corpse queen as thanks for her gift; it is only a dream after all.
[x] Give Oath and Promise that you will achieve what no other has before you.

You grin in that rictus manner that is more snarl than smile, partly baring your fangs in pleasure at her praise and her command, despite her tacit threat at the end of her speech. You don't know how much she knows, but you suspect she doesn't know that you hold the elder Power as she does, and that is a good thing. But what she has granted you is something even better than power – freedom to act on your own recognizance in several manners.

Which is admittedly a kind of power, but still!

Your response seems to gratify Her Majesty, and she inclines her head ever so slightly in acknowledgement. You step forward, slipping free of Siobhan, who watches awestruck as you do something most githyanki in their right minds would never dream of doing. But this is a dream, and you are most likely not even close to being in your right mind, so you do it anyways.

Gently tilting your Undead Queen's head up, you kiss her, softly and insistently, upon the lips.

She stiffens, shocked at your impromptu affection, but slowly relents, allowing you this affection. Perhaps as an acceptance of your gratitude, perhaps because she hasn't been kissed in forever, or maybe she thinks you're insane. Nevertheless, you kiss her, and for a few seconds, you see her as she was, rather than she is. You feel the softness of her lips, the warmth of her delicate flesh, eyes of palest green (githzerai eyes, it occurs to you, but that is a thought you keep very much to yourself), and long onyx hair. Vlaakith kisses you back, perhaps a touch uncertainly, the kiss of a woman who is not used to kissing women.
>>
>>1727159
Oh god, are we gonna ascend another Mythic Tier right now because we're doing something no one has done before in a very long time?
>>
You break the kiss, and step away as the Nightmare falls apart, the spell unraveling. You slip back to Siobhan before it collapses fully, and you kiss her as well, holding her cool, shimmering body to yours as you wake.

Waking is something of an interesting experience, as you are currently snuggled up to Yzia, who is murmuring softly in her sleep, while Auena is the large spoon for her. There is also a slightly alarmed and entirely naked Kteine halfway finished crawling into bed with you. She's mostly alarmed because you have Siobhan pressed firmly along her throat, even half awake as you are. Siobhan informs you that you have been asleep for no more than three hours.

[] Use the Elder Power to restore your body and mind to fullest strength. Oh, and let Kteine settle in.
[] Relax and gently admonish Kteine for not waking you before getting into bed with you.
[] Ask her kindly what she thinks she is doing. Without moving Siobhan, to make a point.
[] Relax, set Siobhan down and be the large spoon for the slim female.
[] ask her if she's trying to get Falna to kill you, after you lay Siobhan back down – between you and she.
[] Write in?
Siobhan apologizes for not waking you entire right away, but Kteine doesn't need weapons to kill with so she took initiative..
>>

Hopefully it won't get Akko executed or anything

It's almost tempting to be overly cautious and pick the last option. But Kteine has been a good girl so far.
>[x] Use the Elder Power to restore your body and mind to fullest strength. Oh, and let Kteine settle in.

I'm kind of surprised that she doesn't recognize that as a bad move, also it pertains both to sneaking into bed and whether or not she wants us to kill Falna since making her volatile enough that we'd finally decide to kill her is an alternate motive.
>>
>>1727179
I bet Yashi set her up to this somehow, probably just to toy with her.

Siobhan apologizes for not waking you entire right away, but Kteine doesn't need weapons to kill with so she took initiative..

You relax, your expression becoming more natural and calm, as opposed to Siobhan's 'blank stare' expression. Kteine admirably does exactly nothing – no movement, no attempt to concentrate, nothing more than looking into your eyes, fully aware that she may get injured or perhaps even wounded as a result of her ill advised actions.

“Kteine,” you admonish mildly, your voice soft enough not to waken anyone.

My deepest apologies Akko. I'm not used to sleeping with one person anymore, even if they're similar in build to Schechei. Interesting that she specifically called out 'Schechei', and not 'herself'. Also, Yashi dream-bleeds. she suppresses a shudder. You raise your eyebrows and tilt your head inquisitively. Wisely, Kteine doesn't relax yet. May I lie next to you?

If this is not some stupid idea of Yashi's, or yours, to incense Falna, who will already be annoyed enough as it is. Really, Lovely, you should know better than to not waken a killing machine from a distance, especially when there is an sleepless weapon who can possess her body. You close your eyes, still holding Siobhan against the girl's slender, soft neck, and concentrate on the Elder Power. You break a small portion of it down slowly, spreading the energies throughout your body, restoring your strength and vitality, and even repairing the spell matrices you used – removing ones you added using arcane force, replenishing that, and restoring your body to peak condition.

It's a lovely, warming sensation, and you sigh, Turning to your side, you run Siobhan's edge along her soft throat, down her shoulder, tracing the curve to her arm by touch alone. When you open your eyes, Kteine still hasn't moved, and you're rather impressed by that. You realize that Tzanzi simply would have torn you open, possibly in a fatal manner? Were you thinking at all?
>>
I hadn't intended on getting too close to you, just into the bed nearby, Akko, she admits apologetically. Yashi....doesn't feel particularly safe to sleep with, especially with her dreams. She's.... you can feel the sense that she is trying to convey, a radiation of intensity, or power that she isn't used to. She shivers as you slide Siobhan along her firm breast, her nipple stiffening as the cold metal scrapes along the tip.

Siobhan is willing to forgive (though never forget) this time. So you set Siobhan down and push the sheet in front of you over, making a place for the young githyanki. You look at the delicate female calmly, and leave the space open....she stares at you for a long moment, then slowly slips into your arms, pressing her body against yours. While you aren't colt, and neither is she, you still draw the sheet over yourself, her....and Siobhan, concealing the deadly weapon from sight within arm's reach.

Just in case.

Folding your arm under Kteine's head and resting your head on your hand, you pillow the girl's head as you slip an arm about her waist, letting her feel your heartbeats against her back. You kiss the top of her head gently, and sigh softly. You don't NEED to sleep, not now....but Kteine is quickly falling asleep, and you allow yourself the luxury of following suit. Next time ask me telepathically. I do not mind being woken.

Yes, mother mine, she agrees readily enough, already lost in half dreams.

You follow, and this time have much nicer dreams with Siobhan.

....Later....

You wake before anyone else, an unusual urge driving you to full wakefulness. Not an unnatural one, it is in fact completely natural, and that is what makes it so unusual. Kteine is a smooth, lithe warmth along your front, and Yzia is a warm softness along your back. You slide your hand through the sleeping female's hair, noting that it is definitely lighter at the roots. A silver-hair, for certain. Very pretty with those bright yellow eyes of hers. She makes a soft, pleased noise and nestles against you. Siobhan giggles at your entrapment, and you grin....and let yourself go.

The urge passes as you use the simplest and yet most useful cantrip of all to gather the liquid and move it to an enclosed container, which you sent the Unseen Servant to empty.

You're not quite sure why Siobhan finds this hilarious, but she does.

Schechei crawls into the rather crowded cell, and gives you a gentle telepathic nudge to see if you are awake.

[] Invite her in, even though her one-time lover is in your arms.
[] Ask her what she needs, gently rather than over-politely.
[] Give her a similar nudge back to let her know you are awake if she wants your attention.
[] No words needed, just let her know you are listening and trapped currently.
[] Ask her if she's eager to collect her new blade before the raid.
[] Write in?
Siobhan wonders if you could put it back IN, instead of taking it out like that!

Remember how vivid and intense Yashi's telepathy is when she is awake?

Now take off all the filters she has when she's awake and let over 1000 years of subconscious thoughts of someone who has developed into something of a monstrously twisted attention whore who is specialized in illusion and deception have free and unfettered reign.
>>
>>1727214
...Should we be concerned for her, or is that probably only a danger to others?

Now I really want Akko to experience that, you know, just to make sure it's safe for others in the cadre. What's the worst that could happen?

It's generally only a problem for people who haven't learned to filter other's sleeping telepathy - such as, for instance, someone who hasn't had a lifetime of doing so. Schechei has a bit of an edge because of Akko's wish.
>>
>>1727214
Guess it doesn't impact people at too long range though, which is good at least, if our room is safe.

>>1727214
so, essentially what you saying is Yashi a cute? because thats what that sounds like to me.

all kidding aside it would be fascinating to see her subconscious desires/fears/schemes laid truly bare. I can't imagine she would be pleased at the prospect.

[XX] Invite her in, even though her one-time lover is in your arms.
[X] Ask her what she needs, gently rather than over-politely.
[X] Write in? Slightly trapped by my lover, her lover, and my adopted daughter, sorry.

Wordlessly you let her know you – and only you – are awake and alert, and she is welcome to enter. She does so, and blinks, her ruby eyes widening as she takes in the tableau of lovely women you are surrounded by, including her one-time lover. You stroke Kteine's hair softly, and she makes a soft, sleepy noise, humming pleasantly with each slow exhalation. Schechei studies you for a long moment, and you look back calmly....and she slowly creeps in, and sits next to her twin, and slowly joins you in stroking her soft hair.

Sometimes she has nightmares when she sleep alone. Something about human minds takes cruelty in stride. I think it is there natural tendency to retaliatory violence. You find it interesting that there isn't any jealousy there. Kissing, touching, playing, those incite Schechei to anger. But sleeping with her while you are both entirely naked apparently doesn't set off her jealousy.

There might be hope for them yet.

It is a quality we share with humans, you reply, lightly coloring your thoughts to let Schechei know Kteine only slept – literally only that – with you. Is there something you needed? You look over Schechei, who is almost naked. Like you and Yashi, she has a love of jewels and jewelry, but hers tend to be gems more than anything else: strings of dark carnelians about her wrists, lengths of jasper and onyx needles arranged around her throat, a ruby placed in her navel. Dark and bloody, and rather becoming.

Dunzamn will be presenting our swords in another five turnings. Falna would like to be there for us both. You kiss Kteine and she stirs slowly. She blinks and looks up at Schechei, half rising. They both become still, speaking silently as you rise and shake your hair into some semblance of order. Schechei looks at you, and her expression becomes troubled. She glances at her twin, who gazes back, nonplussed and unhelpful, then back at you.

Allowing her to wrestle with her thoughts, you waken Yzia with a kiss, a slow, deep, lingering kiss that earns you a fierce embrace and an awful lot of tongue for a humanoid. She opens her glowing eyes, cross shaped pupils dully lit from within, and let you see inside her mind. You smile, pleased that she and Auena enjoyed one another's company fully, and ask if Auena has any talent for the experiences.
>>
Oh, she does, my treasure, she most certainly does! You smile and run your hand through the angelic-looking creature your dragon pretends to be slowly. You look none the worse for wear....did you sleep alone?

Not quite. Schechei moves to kneel near you and you look at her with interest. You turn to her and have your Unseen Servant bring a basin of water for you and your companions. Yes?

Gish Akko....I know that you owe me nothing, and that my debt to you is practically unpayable....but will you please allow me the honor of your presence at the gifting of my and my companion's Silver Swords? You look at her with some measure of surprise. “I would count it a great honor to have you stand with myself, Gish Akko, as your student and as....” She looks down. “As a person who means much to one I care about.”

[] How could I not?
[] Are you certain this is what you want?
[] You know Falna will be unhappy about this.
[] I was planning to attend only as an observer, Schechei, but I appreciate the offer.
[] And you, Kteine? I notice you haven't asked me....
[] Write in?
as odd as it seems, Siobhan is detecting nothing but sincerity there.

[XX] How could I not?
[X] Are you certain this is what you want?
[X] You know Falna will be unhappy about this.
[X] And you, Kteine? I notice you haven't asked me....
[X] Write in? If it pleases you both, I will be there – if you would not mind warning Falna.

You look at Schechei seriously and she maintains her downward gaze, her eyes open, and her body alert. Ready for a fight, if you should decide to become violent. Stranger things have happened, and you would be no less wary, especially invited to such a thing by the mate of one who views you as something of an enemy despite her oaths. “I will stand with you, if it is truly what you wish, Schechei.” You let her feel the respect and interest that she has earned from you in asking, despite her difficulty with it. “In truth....it is unlikely I will ever collect fully on your debt. Not simply because you lack the means, because that is something you will have in sort order, given your skills and talents.”

She looks at you directly, uncertain, wary. Understandably so. “You are githyanki. What I have learned in helping you achieve that is priceless, as is your willingness to be githyanki. How could I refuse what you have asked of me, given the ties that bind us?” You stroke Kteine's bare back. “I do notice your twin hasn't asked me, and I wouldn't wish to put her out.”

“I asked Falna to stand with me.” You and Schechei both stare at Kteine. And Yzia snickers at your surprise, nuzzling you as Auena wakens slowly. “Because of her, despite her, I am here and now what I am because of her. Akko may have made me truly githyanki, but it was Falna who allowed me the chance. And it is something I would not give up now. I owe her my life as it is, regardless of her view.”

“Now you know how I feel,” Yzia murmurs in your ear. You lean back and kiss her, and she purrs softly.

“I suppose that I do,” you agree readily. “As long as Falna is prepared for my presence there. She will not be pleased about this at all.” Especially since you have very little doubt Dunzamn will make another announcement, given that he is a Lord Knight, and carries a True Silver Sword. You might have top head that off. Falna is unstable enough. That could drive her over an edge.

And I would like to let you know what I learned of Vermithrax and Dunzamn's little charade. Preferably before the ceremony. You silently agree to do so, as there is a little time.
>>
You take the basin your Unseen Servant offers you, and hand it to Yzia, who smiles indulgently and holds it for long enough to make the water steam. As she does that you turn to Schechei, and look at her seriously. I hope that you know what it is that you do, Schechei.

I wish that I could say that, Akko....but I would be a liar. Yet....this feels right. It is because of you, because of my twin, that I have my mate. Your gifts and sacrifices mean much to me, despite the foolishness of them. At the very least I must honor the person who has given me so much. It is the right thing to do.

You smile as Yzia starts washing your back, and you leans forward slightly, your hot ruby eyes meeting her darker ones. But the smile isn't a happy one. In my experience, Schechei, the right thing to do is often the worst imaginable thing to have done. We are not a forgiving, kind, generous people.

The lissome githyanki looks down, her eyes closing, her expression pained. The pain does not leave her expression when Kteine lays her hand over her twin's hand.

I know.

Thanks for running! Man Akko's last line was heartbreaking in all the best ways.

Regarding Vlaakith's eyes, is she believed to be old enough to be from before the Githyanki and Githzerai were separate, and are there any records Akko knows about what that earlier form of the race was like in terms of eye color?
>>
Thanks for writing

Would Akko not have been offered the option to smooch if we didn't get that 20 roll, or was Akko's boldness unstoppable?
>>
I may run another session tonight, depending on the amount of sleep i get. After the disasters of last week and being forced to take a sleeping pill (a mistake I will never make again) to manage to sleep after being up 78 hours, I am uncertain about how well I will sleep.

I will post a note in twitter accordingly.
>>
>>1727301
Yes, she is that old. Githzerai eye colors tend to be brown, green and violet. They also tend to a slightly shorter, softer build than githyanki as they live in a place where time flows normally - more or less. The rest off the place is up for debate, of course....
>>
>>1727304
That would be great, but I'm sure we'll all be happy to wait a week if you're not up for it! Sounds like quite a stressful week you've been through.
>>
>>1727302
Oh, the 20 was for something else entirely.

A diplomacy/bluff check to convince her you were not only sincere, but nothing more than what she took you for.

Akko was going to kiss her anyways, unless Vlaakith decided to stop her..

Yes, that counts as a mythic achievement.
>>
>>1727311
Sometimes my insomnia gets the better of me, and with the added stress of my friend/pet becoming ill enough to require hospitalization again, (only one evening) it exacerbated things quite badly.
>>
>>1727309
So would the "primordial" Gith race before the Divide be presumed to be largely similar to GIthzerai due to living in a place where time flowed normally?

Also I really liked Vlaakith's aesthetics, a shrine of bone and a throne of absolute darkness feel very classic in a good way. It's considered very not allowed for any Githyanki but her to become a Lich right?
>>
>>1727313
Alright, another mythic point is a nice prize indeed
>>
>>1727318
They would be a lot like a cross between Tzanzi and Auena. The illithids bred to reduce their size and increase their fatty tissue retention (as brains and nervous systems are made up of fatty tissues), so you end up with them lookign more like Auena. Yet another contentious point between Githyanki and Githzerai.

The very attempt to collect the materials required for lichdom is a large portion of how Spellcasters get executed. Note that most tend to be at least 11th level before trying it, suggesting that the rituals and spells involved are at least 6th level (and thus why any Spellcaster over 10th is a rare thing).
>>
with that, I must sleep.

Thank you again for your participation and readership.

i'll answer any other questions as they crop up.
>>
>>1727332
If we become a supreme leader does Akko really think she can hide all the silly shit she is up too?
>>
Sorry I missed this, I forgot we were Monday.

Interesting session, though I'm kind of warry about any oath made to the Lich.
>>
>>1727849
Wow anon, what do you have against liches exactly? You some kinda life supremacist?
>>
>>1727839
Akko thinks not, if only because she might have to deal with more challengers.

>>1727849
Considering that by githyanki social construct, Her Majesty has the power of life and death over all githyanki (and theoretically all githzerai), an oath or promise made to her is not particularly dangerous in and of itself.
>>
>>1727330
I was more wondering if Githzerai green eyes are how the proto-Gith were originally, or if that only comes from spending a lot of time in Limbo (though I guess Akko wouldn't know one way or the other).

Also I assume that becoming any other form of sapient undead also makes you marked for destruction or is it just that that's more a function of the undead Githyanki being unable/unwilling to be Githyanki, as opposed to the Lich Queen forbidding it because reasons.

If Vlaakith were secretly running the Githzerai as well and pitting them and the GIthyanki against each other and essentially sharpening them to use against the Illithids, would Akko even consider that a betrayal because from what she's explained about Githyanki society to Kteine and Schechei, that seems like a very Githyanki thing to do.
>>

The protogith were a semi-pack based, slightly psychic arboral ambush predator. The majority of their trees were grey with dark leaves, absorbing more UV light from a hotter but more distant blue sun for photosynthesis rather than yellow light, with heavy cloud cover being common. Their eye colors are a result of the flowers and berries of the trees being colorful and often UV reactive (i.e. glowing) as a measure of camouflage. Brown and grey eyes are the outlier, rather than the norm. This is also why they have darkvision.

Sapient undead would seem to be an advantage agaisnt the mind-effecting powers of the illithid, but to githyanki and githzerai thought, it's enslaving yourself to the nature of a predator that cannot survive without harming other life (not really being concerned about what kind of life mind you). The difference between a bloodsucking fiend and a brain eating fiend is negligible to them. Liches and graveknights, while not having that issue, is a threat to Vlaakith's power and therefore considered anethema as she apparently has no great power over them.

Sorry, that answer contains possible spoilers.

Is it weird that Vlaakith and Akko, as you have written them, remind me of Flemeth and Morrigan?

Since I don't know who they are, the answer is yes.

Dragon Age. Flemeth is a sharp, snarky, scary old witch/body-snatching abomination. Morrigan is a scathing, seductive witch and the male Grey Warden's potential baby-momma.

Ouch, looks like the Dark Tower movie is getting somewhat pummeled in reviews so far. I had hopes it'd be well-done despite the misgivings I had from promo material, but not very promising. Wondering whether I should bother checking it out now, or maybe give it a pass. I suppose I can't judge without having seen...

Were you planning to see it, XS? Or already disavowed it?

I was goign to see Valerian but got sidetracked with people trying to die in my household, and as for the Dark Tower....I'll watch it because it might be interesting, and not have any hopes at all. Valerian is rediculously stupid, but I know that going in, and am expecting only eyecandy (and hotchick in spacesuit).

Valerian is pretty much Starfinder's go-to movie, not Guardians of the Galaxy (could they get any more obvious with the rainbow colors?).

No hopes definitely sounds like the best approach, for both movies. Hopefully nobody is forced to face their own mortality whenever you're planning to go next!

the main problems with dark tower is that it's rushed and the enemies are shallow. It also doesn't follow the books really coherently and mixes stuff, which made some fans mad.

The actors were all brilliant
>>
Valerain is like a Syfy movie with a Hollywood budget. A lot of fun but one of the lead actors is garbage.
>>
>>1737118
I never had any issues with the actors, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. Like, cowlick sized.

>>1738051
Well, he was garbage in the comics, so that's okay.

(He was talking about the girl, she's not great)

I'm assuming anyway

and I never said the problem was with the actors, just the script really

and by script I mean dark tower

I've seen a lot of shitting on both but consensus where I read seems to have been that the guy was worse of the two. I didn't bother seeing it myself though.

Woke up to no raiding and no cancellation tweet, hope everything is alright!

I had to take a mood balancing drug and my brain shut down for 14 hours. Which is more than I've slept on actual sleeping medication. I slept through two alarms and my cat sleeping on my chest, which normally wakes me up.

I am better now, and probably won't sleep for a day and a half.
>>
Raiders will be starting at 11:00 pm tonight though. Fuck the brain chemistry, I need Akko.

>>1750881
Moderately concerned but still looking forward to it!

Well, I hope the extra sleep did some good!
